Until the Music Stops
Also on AO3 @whumptober - day 19: psychological, day 21: "see the chains around my feet" @clonefandomevents - Coruscant Guard Bingo: hard choices
The thing about Palpatine is that he likes to toy with Fox. Likes to offer him the illusion of control but with no good options, watch as he struggles to choose who to protect, see how far he’ll go for the scraps of mercy held tauntingly within his reach.
The thing about Fox is that he learns to play along. Every terrible choice is still an opportunity; he’ll take what is given and willingly pay the price that comes with it.
Because the thing about Palpatine, is that the game only lasts as long as he thinks he is winning.

you know, the moment I saw comments on Anakin is smart but he still got manipulated and the whole prequels and Original trilogy happened, makes me sad. Palpatine is really good at his job ヽ(#`Д´)ノ which you did help clearing it up with that essay of yours, victims brains messed up by the abuser, and unless a huge amount of love and care and therapy are issued, it's a messy situation for the victim and the victim's loved ones
also that Vaderdala dynamic you said in the empress Amidala au is very Gomez and Mortica lol they are morbidly unhinged and in love XD
I can see them going on: "oh dear Ani, don't torture yourself, that is my job. I won't die~ ♡"
[This is the post the ask is referring to ]
Completely unrelated but I love your icon, is a yellow totoro!!!! Palpatine is so good at his job that he tricked every.single.person.in.the.galaxy. He's a terrifying villain becase of it! Regarding Anakin tho, I think it's because many people feel like if you point out Anakin was a victim of abuse or grooming, they will inmediatly belive that you're excusing all of his actions and crimes, which!!! Makes me crazy! Please, I don't want to have to make a disclaimer about how i think murder is bad every single time I ramble about Anakin, can we get pass this point.
Also Padmé's protective about her little wheeze wheeze, she's possesive in a way that doesn't want him to be hurt or in any pain, but the Gomez and Morticia quote got meeeeeee jnksjdfnkjsfddsf

Palpatine wouldn't abuse the Guard directly, at least not in a way they'd realize or remember. Instead, he'd give all his cronies in the Senate free reign to be as cruel as possible and then make himself their savior - the only one who genuinely cared, the only one who genuinely tried to keep them safe. Biotechnology can break, but even in the face of overwhelming evidence, genuine love and loyalty will make you hesitate, will make you suffer in learning the truth and in trying to enact justice - more suffering that a Sith facing down however many troopers and/or Jedi Masters can use to empower themself. Just another small part of the grand plan and all its contingencies and one that's easy enough to carry out with minimal risk from the safety of Coruscant.

Febuwhump day four: Obedience
Characters:Obi-wan Kenobi, Sheev Palpatine, Mace Windu, Kit Fisto, Yoda (mentioned)
Summary: The feats Sidious had accomplished were extraordinary. It's only the Sith himself who thinks that, though.
Word count: 1,714
Tags: Whump, mind control, mind break, abuse of the Force, unwilling obedience (until it isn't).
Authors note: Did I use a Megamind quote for this? Yes. Do I like the new trailer? No. This is me coping with it. I'm actually really proud of this one though. Enjoy!

Day One | Day Two | Day Three | Masterlist
When the Sith returned, no-one in the Jedi temple had believed it at first. Their sworn enemy has been extinct for centuries. Why would they have come back if there was no Master to an apprentice? Darth Plagueis was presumed to be the last of his kind, after he was murdered by an unknown killer without an apprentice to his name.
The Jedi have always been simple-minded. They never considered that it could have been the killer of Plagueis that was the apprentice himself. Even when they figured that out, they didn’t know who that might have been.
Until they did.
Sidious could not have made it more obvious.
He strolls into the Council Chamber, his cloak billowing behind him and his hood concealing his face. The Jedi Masters were in the middle of a meeting, with the likes of Yoda, Plo Koon and various others in their hologram forms in systems hundreds of light years away. The second the Sith Lord walks in, the Jedi present are immediately standing on their seats with their lightsabers drawn, poised to strike. Obi-wan is one of them.
“Are Jedi really so quick to judge? I thought you were hospitable.” the slithery hiss of the Sith reaches their ears and Obi-wan can’t help but feel his hackles rise.
“Forgive us, Sith,” Windu begins as he glares at the man, “When someone of the Dark side enters a place of the Light, we don’t take kindly to it.” Sidious chuckles at that; a horrible sound. Like scraping a fork against a ceramic plate.
“Is that so? Well then, I might as well make myself comfortable, hm?” With a flick of his wrist, the lightsabers of every council member in the room are pulled from their hands and enter Sideous’ own. The Jedi try to grapple for them as they shoot out of their grip to no avail, and two of them fall from their seats onto the marble floor.
Sidious laughs again, gazing at the two Jedi through his hood. “Is this really the Jedi Council? I must be in the wrong room.” With another wave of his hand, the holograms of the absent Jedi flicker and dissipate in blue pixels. Now, without the knowledgeable observation of Master Yoda, the rest of the council have been left on their own to deal with the Sith Lord.
Mace curls his lip in disgust. “You will come with us and be put on trial,” he demands.
“And if I do not comply?”
“Then we’ll force you to.” Obi-wan is steadily festering a deep hatred for Sidious’ laugh.
“I don’t believe you’re in any place to make orders, Master Jedi,” the Sith states simply. “You’ve been disarmed, and the rest of your Order are... incapacitated.” There is an audible gasp somewhere in the room. “I would have killed them, but where would the fun of that be? You’re all very powerful Jedi-” The sarcasm is obvious. “-and you certainly would have realised through the force if any of your comrades died. Trust me, I’m doing them a favour.”
Kit Fisto steps forward, his head-tails shifting behind him as he looks at the Dark Sider with a grimace. “A favour?” he says, “By what, injuring thousands of Jedi? How, pray tell, is that a favour to them.”
“Because the alternative is much more horrendous, dear Jedi. I assure you that they’re perfectly comfortable.” Obi-wan fights back a scoff at his words. Mace has no such self-control.
“Comfortable? Give me a break. You don’t care if your enemies are ‘comfortable’ or dead on the ground. You’re Sith. You don’t care for anything.”
“On the contrary!” the Sith gasps as if offended. “Your friends are not harmed in the slightest. You have my word. They’re simply... under new management.”
Obi-wan frowns deeply and steps forward in challenge. “What exactly do you mean by that? What have you done to them?”
“Looking for a demonstration, Kenobi? I’d be happy to oblige.” With that, Sidious gestures with his hand and Obi-wan is lifted into the air. Gravity is no longer a limitation, so all he can do is wriggle and claw at empty air to try and escape from the Sith Lord’s vise. It doesn’t work, of course. How could it? He can feel the crushing grip of Sidious’ use of the Force on his torso as he’s pulled into the air. He can also feel himself plummeting to the ground as the Sith brings his hand back down in a rapid motion, making Obi-wan faceplant the floor with a painful thump.
He can only just hear the uproar in the council chamber over the ringing of his ears as a result. Jedi attempt to throw themselves into the mix to assist Obi-wan, but to no avail. Sideous’ effortless abuse of the Force is so great that a sphere of invisible energy stops the Master’s advances.
“Get up,” the Sith spits and Obi-wan does so, stumbling to his feet as he glares at Sidious. “Oh good! You listen. This’ll make this next part a lot easier for me.” He doesn’t have time to evaluate what that meant as a weighted blanket of the Force falls on top of him and suffocates him.
“Kneel,” Sidious orders, and those words strike a spark of realisation into Obi-wan.
The Mind Touch. Sidious is attempting mind control. Such a thing is forbidden in the Jedi Temple, the High Council agreeing that that specific use of the Force is strictly for non-Force users alone and as a last resort. It’s dirty and filthy, and any Jedi who uses it is seen as just as disgusting.
But Darth Sidious is no Jedi.
Obi-wan visibly shakes at the strain of fighting against the command. Whispers of “Do ask I ask,” “Life is easy like this,” and “I can keep you safe if you just let me in,” parade deafeningly loud around his skull. It’s usually only those weak in the force who succumb to these sorts of tricks and mind play, but Sidious’ power is so vast and unstoppable that it makes Obi-wan feel like he has the Force sensitivity of a Tusken Raider in comparison. The swirl of the Dark Side is all encompassing, swallowing him whole.
“You can fight this, Obi-wan!” he hears. He doesn’t know who yelled it – one of the other Masters, he presumes. The sound of their words is muffled, drowned out by the roaring intensity of the Sith’s power.
“Are you sure you want to do that, though? My dear Obi-wan, you only have to do as I say, and you can be mine. Is that so bad?”
Yes, he thinks. That’s a horrible concept. He can picture it now: Obi-wan dragged around like a dog to answer to Sidious’ every beckon and call, ill-treated and disrespected and draped in rich silks and cared for and looked after and well-rested with no stress and-
Oh my stars, is this really happening?
He can feel himself slipping. His impenetrable mental defenses are cracking and crumbling as he feels Sidious’ touch in his mind, soothing and calming as his fears and inhibitions are unwillingly washed away. He can’t let himself fall like this. He tries to rebuild his walls brick by brick at the onslaught of the Sith’s attempted mind control. It doesn’t work. Whenever Obi-wan tries to rebuild, the snake-like hand of Sidious slithers in between the cracks in his mind again with an even stronger strength than before.
“I must applaud you, Master Jedi. You’ve faired longer than the rest of your comrades. You should be proud of yourself.” Obi-wan cannot help but repeat the words in his mind. You should be proud you should be proud you should be proud you should be proud. If Sidious couldn’t read his thoughts before, he certainly can now. Murmurs of affirmation of his words float around his head as he begins to hunch over in pain as he tries to fight back. It’s the exact opposite of how he had expected this to go. He thought he would have been forced into submission by being smashed into the ground repeatedly by the Sith Lord until he finally conceded. This, he finds, is a better alternative. Or it would be, if it wasn’t so painful.
“It’s only painful because you’re fighting back. Succumb to my will, and this pain will go away. I promise you. Now kneel.”
At the second iteration of the order, Obi-wan nearly follows the command immediately. He stops himself, though, with whatever scrap of self-control he still has in his body. It’s not much, and the blatant insubordination makes the pain that jitters up his nerves twice as strong. Obi-wan howls in agony at the feeling, and he can’t help but lean into the subtle, soothing strokes in his mind from Sidious.
“Let go, my friend, and this will all be over.”
Obi-wan gives in.
He sinks to his knees slowly. Once he does, it’s as if a switch is flicked in his brain. The pain ceases and a feeling of serenity washes over him. He’s no longer Obi-wan Kenobi. He is instead a tool. A tool that, now he’s given up, can be used as Sidious deems fit. It sounds horrible, but the Jedi cannot find it in himself to care. The screams of anger and anguish from his comrades mean nothing to him now. The Sith owns him now, and all his worries melt away as the touch of Sidious now feels like a blessing rather than a curse.
“Good, Obi-wan. Good!” the Sith exclaims with a clap of his hands. He’s won, now. He’s reached the top. If he can make even a Jedi Master submit to his will, then he’s practically unstoppable. He gazes at Obi-wan and beckons him closer with a gnarled finger. “Come here.”
The command is fulfilled immediately. Obi-wan leans forwards from where he kneels and crawls over to Sidious. Once he gets there, he props himself back up onto his haunches and clasps the evil man around the waist reverently, looking up with adoration his eyes. Sidious strokes his hair. It’s forceful and clearly has some malice behind it, but Obi-wan has no qualms about it. How could he? He’s been given a better purpose.
“Now, who’s next?”

Rex, meanwhile—Cody’s entirely too-smart little brother—frowns. “This is all classified for your safety, isn’t it? Because of the slave risk.”
Kenobi gives Rex a wry little smile, something passing between them, an understanding that Cody hopes to never experience for himself and hates desperately that the two closest people to him have. Skywalker is suddenly sitting up much straighter, too, eyes narrowed like a massiff on a scent. “Just so, Captain.”

Rex sees his general flinch out of the corner of his eye, nearly imperceptibly, and he's out of his seat before he even fully processes what he saw. Skywalker nearly trips over himself trying to vacate his own but by then Rex is already almost on him. "WHO DID YOU TELL?" he barks. Fingers that barely feel like his own fist around the fabric of Skywalker's tabards and yank until they're at eye-level with each other, and Rex knows his teeth must be showing. "WHO?"

Good Commanders Come When Called
Also on AO3 @whumptober - day 3: "Make it stop", day 12: "I'm up, I'm up" @clonefandomevents - Coruscant Guard bingo: sickness/injury
Bi-beep. Bi-beep.
Zontal startles as the alert rings through the comparatively quiet Coruscant Guard medbay. It is not a particularly loud alarm, or piercing, but it is insistent and impossible to ignore.
Bi-beep. Bi-beep.
Only one comm in the Guard has that particular tone, and for only one sender. The Chancellor is summoning his Marshal Commander, and will not be kept waiting.
Bi-beep. Bi-beep.
Zontal looks over at where said Commander is collapsed in one of his beds. Fox had returned from a 30-hour blackout mission less than an hour ago, and had fallen asleep almost before Zontal finished removing his armour for him.
Bi-beep. Bi-beep.
He is not injured too badly at least. This time. Nothing to justify using their meagre supply of bacta. But he is bruised and battered all over with more than one limb moving gingerly, and his usual state of exhaustion-dehydration-malnutrition further exacerbated.
Bi-beep. Bi-beep.
Fox groans, trying ineffectually to bury his head in the thin pillow as the familiar alert draws him inexorably away from peaceful oblivion. He weakly bats a hand in Zontal’s direction.
“M’ke it st’p.”
Bi-beep. Bi-beep.
And here’s the catch. Zontal could.
He could bury the comm under a pile of blankets, pretend they’d never received the message and leave it a problem for future-Fox. Give him a few more hours of sleep before the rest of the world demands its due with interest.
Bi-beep. Bi-beep.
He could answer the comm, message the Chancellor that Fox is currently medically unfit for duty. It’s not even exactly a lie; Zontal had already been considering setting him up with an IV, and a rotation or two of forced bedrest would do him wonders. But the Guard doesn’t work that way. As long as you can be vertical and mostly cognizant, you are on shift. And you continue working until you no longer meet those criteria.
Bi-beep. Bi-beep.
He could answer the comm, and send one of the other Commanders in Fox’s place. Either openly or borrowing Fox’s distinctive armour. There was a time when he might have. Had. But it wasn’t worth the cost, and now that option is now reserved only for direst emergency.
Bi-beep. Bi-beep.
Because when the Chancellor calls, he expects Commander Fox to come. He will not accept excuses, he will not accept delays. And any attempt at either brings consequences.
Bi-beep. Bi-beep.
“Fox...” One hand brushes through Fox’s curls to rest on his shoulder, the other is holding his vambrace with its still-beeping comm. “I’m sorry. I can make it stop, for now. But are you sure you need me to?”
Bi-beep. Bi-beep.
Bi-beep. Bi-.
Zontal hands Fox his armour.

The thing is,,,,abuse doesn't have anything to do with intelligence or lack of confidence, though yes, a person with low self-esteem is an easier target for abusers, however that's what not I'm talking about.
Like I'm someone who doesn't like to take part in The Discourse (tm) because this is fandom, I'm here to talk about my favorite dolls and create silly scenaries with them. And it might feel a bit egregious to talk about something as delicate and serious as abuse, grooming or domestic violence but also it's the perfect playground to explore such themes and you can learn a lot by psychologically analizing a character and do your own research on the matter so you can understand abuse better, and sometimes that way you can also have a more critical view on real life, and for some of us, also come to terms with our own lives.
That said, back to my original point, it has nothing to do with intelligence. A person that falls into a cycle of abuse doesn't make them stupid, the whole deal of predators and abusers is that they know how to play their game, they know how to manipulate. A victim's mind will always try to cope with the abuse in ways that can be hard to understand sometimes in ways that will make you say 'well, that's enabling their abuser', but is not a statement on their intelligence or lack of it, abuse dynamics are extremelly complex, and victims will go through several states such a guilt, or violent outbrusts, fear, appeasing, avoidance, sometimes all sometimes just a few. And it's because no one is the same and no one's experiences will be the same, even though there are patterns you can identify sometimes.
So when someone wants to argue against a character being too smart to fall for abuse or manipulation, it's a bit sad to me. Not necessarily malicious or dangerous, or anything, again this is fandom and fandom runs rampant with whatever takes that makes all of us grimace. But because that's not how it works, if a certain dynamic isn't abusive by your pov, then it has nothing to do with the character's intelligence. It's not about being strong, or confident; that downplays how abusive dynamics come to be.
Like for example y'know I don't think padmé and anakin were abusive, I've made several posts about it, but it's not because they are too intelligent for that.
Likewise, Anakin wasn't stupid for being groomed by Palpatine; the contrary, he was quite literally a gifted child and a genius at mechanics and was good at many things, including drawing and strategies, but he fell for Palpatine's grooming because:
a) Palpatine is an evil top tier manipulator and predator who knows how to play adults, he literally knew how to play the jedi council, what was a 9 y/o going to do about it.
And b) Anakin's trauma and unattended mental illnesses made him an easier victim for grooming; he was already used to be a thing and be a servant from the moment he learned to talk.
But even if we weren't talking about someone as deeply messed up as Anakin was already, abusers and predators always will take advantage and exploit of the weaknesses and flaws on an individual, they will adapt and change their tactic according to the victim needs, that's why anyone could become a victim, it doesn't matter if your IQ is up there on the moon.
It's not about being too "stupid" to not realize there was abuse, it's a deep, complicated and terrible ensemble of thoughts and insecurities tangling around the brain in such a way that there's no a way to blame the abuser without feeling at fault, or at the very least without feeling scared of retaliation or lost, it's a power dynamic that messes up the sense of self.
#star wars#anakin skywalker#sheev palpatine#padmé amidala#rambling#lots of rambling#tbh i wasn't expecting this to get long but ah well that's what always happens with me#tw abuse#tw grooming#tw domestic violence#fandom stuff#this was very messy tbh i'm not completelly focused right now i've been anxious the whole day bleh sorry if is not very coherent#rhea dissects the text

Really?
Just cause you see a Muun doesn’t mean it’s Darth Plagueis🤦🏻♀️
Far as I'm concerned this is proof that Plagueis is alive in current canon and just big chilling. The Stranger took after Plagueis way more than crusty no fun Sheev ever did.
#end racism against muuns#all muuns don’t look the same#don’t be mean to sheev#he had an abusive father okay#sheev knew how to have fun#don't call him crusty#this post offends me in so many ways#and I kind of love it#darth plagueis#hego damask#muuns#sheev palpatine#skeleton crew

I have recently been informed that my #anti Palpatine tag has possibly been alienating the Palpatine fandom (-cries in darth vader- NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO).
Here on this blog, we love the very insidious Sheev Palpatine very much. All we ever want is for him to receive his well-earned credit for the numerous Evildoings. On this blog, we do not support people blaming the Jedi or Padme or the little blue butterflies clinging to their last flutters of life in Anakin Skywalker's meditative hellscape. We blame Palpatine himself. Partly because it's true, but mostly because we know he would not have it any other way. :)
Thus, I will no longer be using the #anti Palpatine tag and will slowly be replacing its iterations with the #blame the Palpster tag. Same message, same concept, same belief system (aka "blame the actual emotional abuser for the emotional abuse") but with a little added wink at the man as he masterfully rips the galaxy apart. :D <3

ok i’m reminding everyone that i write and that’s like my main thing so here are my wips if anyone would like to motivate me by expressing interest:
what i have coined the “murder au” which i have posted about and in essence started as me toying with the concept of a modern au where anakin still does murder. basically a modern au exploration of that thing padmé does where she can kinda rationalize murder if anakin does it. while they’re on a road trip! and anakin is a woman in it. inspired by so many movies but mainly love lies bleeding, badlands, thelma & louise, and bones and all. this is currently my main project and top priority and the idea is what sent me hurtling back into star wars hyperfixation
sabé anakin weirdness. i posted about this one too! basically i’m just taking the crumbs of stuff in queen’s hope and reinventing the entire dynamic of a foundation of mutual identity weirdness. i’m fucking the timeline and making up a third sabé anakin interaction and exploring the idea that a non-hierarchical relationship breaks anakin’s brain and sabé represents an occasional subconscious perverse desire of his to completely lose all of himself not only To padmé but also Under her like sabé has.
companion to the last one, basically i think the queen trilogy was mid as fuck and i kinda wanna rework a lot of it to my liking and i wanna make sabédala end on bad terms. so it’s that. sabé and padmé’s last night together but it’s more a fight and sabé is kind of bitter and mean about everything.
i keep going back and forth on writing what i like to call loustatnidala which is just MY padmé kills anakin au (the only in character one ever) where the actual killing is sooo romantic and then a guilt-hallucination of anakin chases padmé around afterwards like hallucination lestat did with louis in iwtv s2. very gothic!
anidala hollywood au. this one is extremely not happening any time soon but it’s on the back burner currently as i develop it. basically the “actors au” premise but it’s really ugly and mean and entirely about industry abuse and exploitation. padmé is a child actress who was able to transition into a beloved critical darling adult actress and anakin is a washed up child actor with the worst reputation imaginable (she’s Also a woman in this). sheev palpatine plays the exact role you would expect. keeping the feel very grimy and generally unpleasant. maps to the stars and bojack horseman influences abound
#this is an open invitation to be asked about any and all of these as well btw#also posting bc i’ll be really embarrassed if i do what i usually do and abandon these. bullying myself into writing!#star wars#ficposting#keat.txt

So Close
Day 3 ~ Set up for failure ~ Wrongfully Arrested ~ "I Warned You ~
Fives
Word Count: 968 Content: manipulation, major character death, mental abuse, mind games, sheev being an asshole, Anakin Skywalker Don't Be A Dick For Five Minutes Challenge (Impossible), Bio Chip Arc, TCW s06e04 Orders, Fox doesn't kill Fives
“Stand down, soldier!” Fox barked. “Stand down!”
“No, no, no!” Fives cried, his hands up. “Stay back!”
“Don’t, Fives,” Rex pleaded, his hands slamming against the shield.
“Get this ray shield off!” General Skywalker ordered.
One of the Corries looked around briefly before aiming his rifle at the shield generator above them, disabling it immediately.
Rex tackled Fives as Fox and the Guards closed in.
“Rex!” Fives begged as Fox secured binders around his wrists. “You can’t let them take me! The- the chancellor– he’ll kill me!”
“Stow it,” Anakin scowled. “The chancellor wouldn’t do that.”
“It’s alright, Fives,” Rex assured him, his hand never leaving his brother’s shoulder. “We’re going to get you the help you need.”
The Guards hauled him to his feet and led him away while Fives sobbed protests.
“General,” Fox stood at attention. “Will you be needing transport?”
“No, Commander,” Skywalker shook his head. “But keep me posted on his status.”
“Yes, sir,” Fox answered, giving a nod to the General, and another to Rex, before turning away and getting on the transport.
Rex watched helplessly as the Guard took him. His heart was pounding. Something wasn’t right in a way he struggled to articulate.
He shuffled to a crate and sat, holding his head in his hands.
“Rex,” Skywalker said.
“I don’t understand,” Rex murmured. “Fives is a good man– a good soldier. I- I don’t understand what happened. What happened on Kamino?”
Skywalker sighed. “He’s sick, Rex,” he said. “Whatever infected Tup must have gotten to him, too.”
Rex shook his head. “No, something isn’t right,” he insisted. “Fives wouldn’t try to kill the chancellor– he just wouldn’t.”
-
Fives was surprised when he woke up. He’d expected that when the medic at the detainment center injected him, it would be some merciful, yet lethal substance, not a sedative.
His head spun as he looked around the room. It was all too familiar.
“N-no, wait,” he muttered.
This was the room. This was where he begged the chancellor to listen to him. It’s where Palpatine revealed so much to him.
“Let me out,” he begged the members of the Coruscant Guard he could see. “He- he’ll kill me! Please, brothers!”
“They cannot hear you and will not be releasing you, trooper,” a calm voice snarled from behind him. He strode in front of him. Palpatine.
“In fact,” he said, turning to his security team. “Wait outside.”
One of the guards seemed to startle. “But, sir-”
“The trooper has been adequately secured,” Palpatine waved off his concern. “I will be fine.”
“Yes, sir,” the guard said, and he and the others left.
Palpatine watched them go until the doors closed behind them. He then turned to face his prisoner.
“You’ve caused quite a stir, trooper,” he said pleasantly. “You’ve nearly created a mess for me to clean up. Nearly.”
“Why haven’t you killed me yet?” Fives grunted, pulling slightly at his restraints.
“Don’t you worry,” Palpatine cooed, his voice as sweet as honey. “We’ll get to that part all in due time.”
Fives watched as the chancellor took a seat in a chair that had been set for him.
“First, however, I wanted to grant your wish.”
Before Fives could ask what he meant, Palpatine produced a data stick from his sleeve.
“This is an audio recording of our previous conversation,” he explained.
Fives’ eyes widened.
“Now, where were we?” the Chancellor hummed. “I must tell you; you’ve created quite the problem for me.”
Fives blinked. “Sir?”
“You see, you’ve nearly uncovered a plot that dates back to before you were even created,” he said, holding up the slides containing Fives and Tup’s chips. “I had these organic chips created by the Kaminoans to be implanted into every clone trooper created for the Republic.”
Fives’ head was spinning. “Sir, I don’t–”
“Every clone trooper in the galaxy has one of these in their head. Save for you, now,” he tipped his head to Fives. “You’re probably wondering ‘why’, yes?”
“Yes,” Fives repeated breathlessly.
“It’s simple really,” Palpatine sneered. “I wish to see the downfall of the Republic, and with it, the entire Jedi Order.”
Fives felt like all the air had been sucked from his lungs. This man wanted to destroy everything he and his brothers were built to protect.
“These marvels of bioengineering are to help with this plan. You see, this entire war between the Republic and the Separatists; it’s all a farce. Think about it. An entire army, trained and ready to fight at the very moment the Separatists attack? Your entire existence is all a part of my grand plan. You and all the other clones were created for one purpose and one purpose only; to kill the Jedi.”
Fives felt like he was going to be sick. Clones killing the Jedi? They were their Generals, their commanders, their friends! They couldn’t just betray them like that. “Why- why are you telling me this?”
“Because you will not live long enough to tell a soul, not that anyone would believe you,” Palpatine grinned. “Guards, kill him.”
If Fives couldn’t get the chips, he could get this data stick as evidence. General Ti and General Skywalker would have to believe him then. He pulled harder at his restraints.
“This is all you need to clear your name, and save the galaxy from falling into the hands of a Sith Lord,” Palpatine sneered.
Fives watched as the self-proclaimed Sith dropped the data stick to the floor, his heart and hope shattering along with it as Palpatine smashed it beneath his foot.
“I warned you,” Palpatine snickered. “You weren’t believed, were you? And now? Now you will die. Not as a hero, but as only a number. A clone who went mad.”
The last thing Fives saw was a flash of lightning.

“Why did you kill the Chancellor?”
He deserved it. He had to.
“Why did you have to?”
The Chancellor looked like a kind old man until he didn’t and Fox was spitting blood onto the plush red carpeting in his office. The Chancellor did not care about the Guard. The Chancellor didn’t care if they died or starved or were killed; worse than that, the Chancellor wanted them to suffer. He never said it, but Fox saw it in his eyes. He hated them.
Fox hated him.
He’ll say it this time: the Chancellor deserved to die.
“...Okay. This is all very important information, Commander Fox. Thank you.”
Commander Fox assassinates Supreme Chancellor Palpatine. The war ends. After that, all that's left to do is recover.

you lack conviction / 𝙢𝙤𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙣 𝙖𝙪! modern! verse affiliated with @skysaunter
In this modern verse, which is devoid of magic, Aeron Myricks is simply that—Aeron, and not Anakin in any form. However, there are nods to Anakin and to Hayden's other characters, such as in "Takers" and "American Heist."
Aeron is a mercenary who targets individuals who would cause suffering. This is a nod to my light side Anakin, as well as to another verse where he embodies the light side. His mercenary name is Azure (also a nod to Anakin), and his gamer name is Skyguy.
In this scenario, Anakin Skywalker is skysaunter with Vader being his kingpin persona. He and Aeron were separated after their father cheated on their mother, leading him to take Aeron away from her and from his twin out of pettiness.
Anakin grows up in Phoenix, Arizona, for the first sixteen years of his life before moving to California. There, he falls in with a gang that ultimately takes their father's life. Unbeknownst to him, he becomes a target of Cadgon Prowell, an individual connected to Sheev Palpatine.
After Aeron kills Cadgon and breaks free from that control, he remains in LA, establishing himself as one of the best hired guns on the West Coast under the name Azure. The memories of his father's death and his troubled childhood drive him from LA to New York, where his actions as a mercenary draw the attention of the NYPD. Because of this, and due to Aeron's compromised identity, his twin Skywalker is blamed for the killings instead of Myricks.
Anakin easily tracks him down, partly because Aeron is sometimes sloppy (due to his ADHD), and goes in search of answers from his twin.
keynotes:
Aeron uses a filter on his computer to create his "gamer mask" to conceal his identity from the public.
He uses a mask during killings to do so but it breaks at some point and it is remade. Because of this, his identity is compromised.
He is cockier and messy at times because he has ADHD and suffers from C-PSTD due to verbal and physical abuse by Cadgon and their father's death.
He has a mouth on him and at times thinks he owes no one anything. (This gets him in trouble.) This is mainly because he was emancipated at the age of 16 after their father's death and lives on his own largely after taking over his rent.
He moved to New York around the age of 27 and was under Cadgon's thumb for roughly five years due to him having turned 21 when he became under contract.
Aeron was in the gang from the age of 15 - 21
He lives in Queens in a broken-down apartment. Mainly because the landlord asks no questions and it's all they can get due to him not having any rental references.

One of the things I love about star wars is how simple/complex some of the relationships are there.
For example, the force literally sent Anakin, the reason of his birth, was to end Palpatine´s(Sith) rule because the Sith plan had become infallible even if there was just Count Dooku and Palpatine. In fact he planned for Dooku to be the one to assault the Temple before he knew of Anakin.
Palpatine could no take chances with Anakin, that´s why he dedicated so much of his time to groom him, 13 years, and I find it funny that even he ended being a little bit attached to the kid, to the point that he keep him around and forced him to stay alive at all costs when he could have let him die.
I like Palpatine and Anakin relationship not because they are two pair of conspirators as it would look like from the outside but because this is a textual case in an action movie of stockholm syndrome and lima syndrome were Palpatine is still deeply abusive of Anakin in a psycological way and later in a physical way with Vader but Vader/Anakin still cares for the Emperor and Palpatine doesn´t want to let go of Anakin because he sees him as his property, his trophy, HIS.
In Palpatine´s eyes Vader can´t even be Luke´s FATHER because he is HIS. What kind of person tells a kid their father can´t be their Dad because they are HIS slave(actual canon dialogue from the radio SW ROTJ show), Sheev, that´s him and this becomes the reason for the end of his rule because Vader does want to be Luke´s Dad even if it kills him and he only can save him from Palpatine.
Their relationship is deeply disturbing but it´s great food for thought and it makes me crazy fandom is too busy painting Anakin as the evilest character ever when Palpatine is right there.

"In the story, the roots of Anakin´s trauma came from slavery and the forced separation from his mother, both situations that never were addressed by the Jedi Order or by Obi-Wan in Anakin´s training, they were openly suppresed while sending Anakin the message that he was the problem for caring and fearing for his mother´s life, his mother who was left alone with a bomb inside her body in a planet ran by the mafia, this isn´t therapy, this is gaslight(ing)."
^^THIS.
Anakin & Trauma
So there´s this talk around saying that being part of the Jedi Order was akin to taking therapy and that it was Anakin the one who didn´t respond well to therapy and I honestly don´t know where to begin because this is honestly false and is victim blaming.
The Jedi Order´s Phylosophy on it´s own isn´t a therapy, not even real world buddhism from which George Lucas took some narrative clues is a therapy, it is a way of life, yes, a phylosophy under which it´s members WILLINGLY become a part of it but this isn´t a therapy.
They don´t address trauma, they don´t address anxiety, they don´t address suicidal ideation, etc.
In fact, while Lucas took some narrative clues from real world buddhism, we can´t truly say in good faith the Jedi Order works like real world buddhism, beggining with the fact that they take away choice from their members, they are brought too young into the fold to make a real decision over if they want to become part of their order or not, they take away their parents and cut all connections forever, that doesn´t happen in buddhism, they are openly an armed part of the state even if their functions are diplomacy, buddhism isn´t part of any state , I could go on but I guess the idea is clear.
So blaming Anakin for not "responding well to therapy" isn´t just false, it´s victim blaming, it´s willingly ignoring the context of the story.
In the story the roots of Anakin´s trauma came from slavery and the forced separation from his mother, both situations that never were addressed by the Jedi Order or by Obi-Wan in Anakin´s training, they were openly suppresed while sending Anakin the message that he was the problem for caring and fearing for his mother´s life, his mother who was left alone with a bomb inside her body in a planet ran by the mafia, this isn´t therapy, this is gaslight.
Wether the Jedi Council or Obi-Wan were aware of it, they willingly made Anakin doubt his own reality and made him take the blame for not taking well his separation from his mother and I don´t know you but if someone, anyone, told me I had to leave my mother behind as a slave with a bomb inside her body because their physophy said so and I was their chosen one so I have to obey them I would have punched them in the face and left to free my mom, chosen one prophecy and Jedi be damned but Anakin was a child, he didn´t have the emotional and verbal skills to even express how wrong all of this was and how much harm they were doing to him.
The signals were clear from the beggining, Obi-Wan noticed that Anakin didn´t have any friends in the Order, that he mostly expend his time with droids and it was the same even when he became an adult and a respected general, can you imagine the level of isolation Anakin had to felt living inside the Jedi Order, that he no longer could relate to the people around him because they saw him as a stranger and he saw them as strangers as well?, that he had to expend his time with droids? when he used to have many friends and acquitances and people who cared about him in his planet of origin despite the horrible reality that he was a slave?, do you believe it talks well about the Order the fact Anakin had better emotional balance and support network living as a slave on Tatooine but with friends and family than living as a member of the Jedi Order?
The Jedi Order were not a supporting network for Anakin, they could not be because their way of life and physophy openly harmed Anakin, keep him from addressing his trauma, keep him from having comunication with his mother, keep him from learning to manage his emotions without suppresing them and openly shunned him for his past as a slave in current disney canon so don´t tell me this is how a supporting network works or that Anakin was at fault for all of this.
The only person close and interested enough in Anakin to notice the dissaster happening to Anakin´s mental state was freaking Sheev Palpatine, he inmediately noticed Anakin was going to grow up bitter and resentful of the Jedi Order given how they keep him separated from his mother, he noticed he needed a friend who didn´t talk about the Jedi code every five minutes, he noticed he needed a father figure because he never had a father and Obi-Wan actively refused to be one given his beliefs and phylosophy, too bad for Anakin that Palpatine was also a sith lord who planned on destroying his very sense of self and person so he could use his power, he saw all of this happening and let it happen because it helped his cause and he could be the cool parent who lets Anakin talk about his issues without jedi phylosophy as he used to do on Tatooine with his Mom and his friends while also adding some psycological issues of self worth to Anakin´s trauma under the image of him caring for Anakin´s well being. Don´t get me started on the Jedi Order allowing this for the sake of keeping a good political relationship with the Chancellor, what´s a kid well being in comparision to a good relationship with the Senate after all but this is a rant for another day.
While Obi-Wan´s love and company could and did help to weather the worst of this, the fact Obi-Wan seemed to care first because of his promise to Qui-Gon, the fact that he didn´t care for Anakin for himself when all people need to be cared for themselves at least in their early years to grow up emotionally stable, need to be loved for themselves, not just for who they are to an institution or as a symbol like the chosen one, which the Jedi Council shunned and put in doubt from the beggining anyway, even if Obi-Wan himself tried to believe in that because his master cared for that stuff, by doing this Obi-Wan subconciously send Anakin the message he was only worth to the Order and to him because he was the chosen one, if he wasn´t then he would have been left a slave on Tatooine just like his mother was, which isn´t that far from reality, Qui-Gon only got interested in Anakin for his force sensitivity, not his kindness and generosity helping strangers when he didn´t have much himself and was a slave.
This truly makes me mad because doing this to a kid isn´t just cruel, it´s abuse be it blind on the Jedi Order´s part or willing abuse on Palpatine´s part, an injustice, a never addressed injustice and even the narrative tries not to tackle this in all i´ts intensity but this is why Lucas said that Anakin was a victim and sure the Jedi were also victims of Palpatine and Anakin by proxy during Order 66 but I think fandom needs to address more in good faith that Anakin himself was their victim first if not the entire Jedi Order (and Palpatine of course) of the adults who were in charge and supposely cared for him and truly didn´t, not in the way that truly matters.
So it is any surprise Anakin wanted to leave the Order to raise his child with Padmé? because honestly I believe that in his situation that was the healthiest decision he could make without completely cutting his ties to what he loved and respected of being a Jedi, so it´s tragic he didn´t get that opportunity because the other adult in his life decided he wanted him as his weapon and manipulated him by isolating him from all his loved ones into becoming exactly that.
#jedi discourse#Anakin as abuse victim#being part of the Jedi order was detrimental to Anakin#learning to use the Force and being part of a state-serving monastic order are not the same thing#he need the former#not the latter#but most of all he needed to be living openly as part of a loving family#being part of the Order also put him at Skeevy Sheev’s disposal#he was conditioned to do what the chancellor said as PART of the order#on top of the grooming he received directly from Palpatine

I don't have many details in mind, but I do think it'd be neat for a Jedi!Sheev Palpatine AU if he was friends with Shmi and a sort of ForceFather to Anakin.
Maybe they met back in the day when Sheev was still Dark after his father- Cosinga- and Plagueis (I work under the assumption "Sith" functions like generational trauma and continuing the cycle of abuse, meaning to some degree Palpatine was doing what he was taught), but they helped each other out.
Specifically, maybe Shmi was pregnant, and he kept trying to influence her to take risks in order to secure her more power, but she'd always decline. "I may not like my life, but I know what to expect from it. When this child is born, I'll know better what he'll need to survive. I've made it this long this way, and I need to make sure they're safe, first and foremost."
Basically slowly teaching him how to be content with where he's at, and leaving open the door for something better, rather than ripping goodness from others. Because Shmi doesn't strike me as someone who thinks anyone is "owed" anything, even if they deserve better.
Maybe Palpatine is there for the birth, and seeing this source of raw power be just,, a baby. Weak, helpless on his own. But he sees Shmi's tenderness and care and,, love. Maybe a switch flips.
So he leaves, takes time away from his Master's memory. Reevaluates what he wants and needs, and how those two lists differ.
He comes back and she's so glad to see he's feeling better. It's slow, and he slips sometimes- baring metaphorical fangs when something doesn't go according to plan- but she's patient with him
