Anon linked to a fundraiser for a friend whose family has not had a working furnace since November; they've been using space heaters to keep warm but January in Chicago has been brutal and the space heaters aren't sufficient. With vulnerable family members including elderly relatives and children in the home, they need to raise $6K to get the furnace replaced. You can read more and support the fundraiser here.

absentlyabbie linked to a fundraiser for Marion, the sister of a close friend, who is dealing with several unexpected expenses including a car that has broken down, student loan debt on top of a high cost of living, and her dog Leonard receiving a terminal cancer diagnosis that they now can't get to the veterinarian because of the transport issues. Anon linked to karla-hoshi or Hoshi on TikTok, who is raising funds for cancer treatment for her cat Naku; they caught the cancer early and hope that he can survive it. chingaderita's partner's family house recently caught fire and completely burned, killing his grandmother and causing extensive property loss; he has also recently lost his job due to the fire, and a number of family members have since become ill. They're raising funds to keep food on the table, and get their partner mental health aid, and now are looking at doctor's bills for medical treatment. nivchara-yahel and rivalconga are raising funds to cover January and now February's rent and fees; their synagogue had agreed to help, but backed out after the deadline had passed for payment. current fic - writing: fanfic that i'm working would b trying to figure out which doctor who fic i want to work (unit au or dreaming sharing fic) and lucifer i'm so close to the end of the first half of a big fic - but no posting until half done because i'm terrible at finishing WIPs if i dont (no one go to the AO3 linked with this blog); original fic is the edits for the novella i'm self-publishing soon and the next chapter in the novel i'm writing which is a historical fantasy supernatural rom com (i have 4 AO3s and 4 tumblrs to go with them, this is my main blog so if i like but never seem to reblog your posts its because it was a sideblog that rebloged)

The Lottery is fucked UP!

But there was a similar this short film on YouTube where there was bad traffic and people were stuck in their cars and they'd go into this tunnel and there is a chance you will be killed in the tunnel.

So people had anxiety when they hit the tunnel. The main family in the story survived but the family in the car next to them did not.

I don't remember many short stories I read because I blocked out most of my schooling from memory because trauma.

But The Lottery has definitely stuck with me.

has anyone else ever had a fanfic that just... haunts them? like it's been months and maybe even years since you read it, but it just lingers with you and you can never truly leave behind the imprint it made on you? and maybe it's just a single line, one sentence that you can't shake off, that takes up residence in your mind and stays there, feeding into your psyche and subtly influencing your brainspace and maybe even your writing or other works?
