Longtime listener, first time caller here. I absolutely love A Stain! It is one I always look forward to the updates and makes 50% of my sundays quite disappointing haha. I was wondering, though, if we'll get to see marigold? The little sprinkles of his specific characterization around the story are fascinating, and I love the idea of the player character existing but being so absent and oppositional to our fic's protagonist.

I had a moment where it's like 'Marigold? Who is Marigold? Is that a character in Stardew Valley I don't know about? Wait I know all the characters in Stardew Valley.'

What I love is that my first thought is 'I have fucked up somehow' and not 'autocorrect got the best of the internet again, and has yet again won the gold medal of 'best way to spell Martingale ever'' (the funny thing is Martingales are a real thing alksjfas but Marigolds are too and that's a prettier name).

We have seen Martingale a couple of times!

He visits Alex in chapter 2 and brings the gold that funds his grandparent's funeral. It's not a very nice encounter for Alex even though it is actually quite a generous thing that Martingale is doing.

Then we see him again in chapter 5 when Sebastian drives Alex to Martingale's place to get the gold necessary to see Dr Harvey for his arm. At the same time, Sebastian and Martingale fight monsters together while Alex watches, and Alex also watches Sebastian and Martingale talk.

So like, he's definitely not absent in the story in the beginning.

He becomes more absent over time though firstly because Alex and Sebastian don't really want anything to do with him, and secondly, Martingale is living a classic 'farmer's life' in Stardew Valley - he's working from 6am until 2.00am, and he's got no time for socialising now that he's maxed out all the friendships of the people he actually cares about, lol :D

i find myself chasing people and wishing the people I wanted to care about me would just check in or just say hey or even just tell me I’m not as invisible as their silence makes me feel. I find myself giving more in an effort to receive less and I hold on too tightly to people and they fall through my fingers like sifting sand. I usually think I am simply not good enough and always way too much for the people I care about and I get really scared and really in my head that sooner or later everyone I care about is gonna walk out on me and I get really scared that sooner or later everyone is going to show me I don’t matter and it sucks because I know it’s overthinking but it nestles way deep in my head and I just wonder if this is what you felt like before you killed yourself. And I wasn’t there to listen, or maybe I didn’t listen well enough and it’s easier for me to carry the blame of you killing yourself than it is to accept that you killed yourself and didn’t leave a reason. and you’re gone now and I don’t really know how to exist without you. not very well anyway.

4th image is a concept for Absent Winds over Passing Clouds (she/her), who is also an echo. Her echo is found in Windswept Plains, which is the region that Seedlings is located in.

Rising Suns’ design was randomly generated by my brain and i gotta say, drawing ancients with not-quite-human proportions is interesting. maybe ancients have more range in their proportions/sizes than humans do?
