Dilruba by Kailash Kher is the kind of song that feels like it's an outtake from Dil Se (1997) and i can't explain that to you in any way that will make rational sense atm
#film: dil se#dil se#shah rukh khan#srk#manisha koirala#dilruba#kailash kher#hindi songs#bollywood#local gay watches Bollywood.txt#it's almost f*cking impossible to pin down but the Satarangi Re vibes???#something like a cross between Satarangi Re and Ae Ajnabi. not necessarily musically but more lyrically#Amar's thoughts when he sees Moina at the train station and then just. falls headfirst and terribly for her just like that#it f*cking wrecks him#from what i've been able to dig up of Dilruba's lyrics it's about longing after a lover with such passion that it consumes you#and you can think of nothing else but them#i think the MV depicts something to that effect as well#but i was listening to it today and the above thought hit me like a f*cking train at full speed so do with that what you will#the raga(?) he uses here has me in a chokehold tho. the arrangement specifically#नि सा सा सा | नि सा सा सा | नि रे रे रे | रे सा सा सा what else am i supposed to do#but scream about it

Drawing original characters in the style of the studio "Bones" is still a favorite activity!

I want to tell you a little about their quirks!
Ikehara Kasikomi: Flock of birds.
Her quirk allows her body to turn into a flock of black birds, consisting, like her body, of a dark substance. She needs to focus to change her body! Quirk gives her high mobility!
The size of the flock of birds she can turn into is directly proportional to her weight. She can turn into 28 birds, larger than the average raven. She is vulnerable to fire and feels worse in the dark because she loses control of her body.
A very thoughtful and freedom-loving girl.
Hyono Kanae: Evil Eye.
His quirk is similar to Aizawa's quirk, but it works a little differently: to disable someone else's quirk or technique, he needs to know how quirk or technique works.
For example: to disable Bakugo's "Explosion", he needs to know two things, that the quirk works through the palms, and sweat containing nitroglycerin. In this case, he will have two ways, softer and more cruel: turn off sweating, or turn off hands. (I mean, hands literally won't work: they'll go numb or something like that)
The difference between his quirk and quirk is the time limit for disconnection (about 7 minutes) and it is possible to subordinate up to 3 goals.
He's a damn nerd with a bitchy personality!
Segata Moina: Whiplash Hair.
It's a fairly simple quirk in terms of how it works. Her hair is capable of lengthening into whips controlled by her. For herself, she chose the most comfortable shape: wide dreadlocks, which is quite convenient to put in a ponytail.
The hair is long by itself, but the quirk has both a minus and a limit. She cannot "shorten" her hair, and accordingly, each time the regrown hair has to be cut off manually. There are two limits: the length of the grown hair at a time and the duration. She can grow her hair up to 20 meters at a time, which gives her the opportunity to simultaneously influence objects at a long distance, but at the same time she loses control. The time depends on her diet and sleep.
A very cheerful and bright girl!

Boycott!
Something pisses me off about the fact that many good things were either created by bad people or bad corporations… Hello, many of my favorite cartoons are from Disney and that hurts even more… True, I always watched them by pirating (Because TV there is one in my apartment, or rather one that is used, and I don't have Disney+ or Netflix, you know what I mean), but it's still depressing
I stopped playing the Sims (although the gameplays on YT are not still released because I recorded them en masse, so you understand) because I found out that EA cooperates with a company that supports Israel (Same as Inzoi, but I never got into it anyway I'll play because, you know, the laptop would explode)
But seriously, there's nothing more depressing than thinking that something that helped you suddenly turns out to be created by bigots or the like…

something cool about the deities in tcol is that they have names derived from them that terraneans use sometimes. an example is kiba, who’s name is a derivative of the god of harvest, KIBARUM.
so that being said, here are some ocs in tcol who’s names come from deity names:
from MUINENS: miona, moira, muinena
from IIARAN: illiana, aran
from goodest boy Lath: luther
from IISIDIA: sid
from MIZDARR: daran
from EFFE: efelia
but there are more names that i’ve decided come from them that i just haven’t gotten around to using yet. so, in general so far some “common names” that come from deities:
m = masculine, f = feminine, gn = unisex
IIARAN: aran (m), illian (m) or illiana (f), ira (gn)
IISIDIA: sid (m), sia (f), sidia (f)
MIZDARR: miz (gn), dara (gn), daran (m)
MUINENS: muinena (f), nen or nena (gn), ina (f), inen (gn), moira or moina / miora or miona (f), mion (gn)
MIRANKA: mira (f), miran (m), ran (gn), ranka (gn)
YUTARA: yuta (gn), yu (gn), tara (f), taran (gn), tayu (m), yura (f)
YLENE: len (m), lene (f)
KIBARUM: kiba (m), kibaru (m), kibar (m)
KOST: koss (gn)
MARTH: mars (gn), art or arth or arty/artie (gn), mat (m)
BRULENE: bruno (gn), bree (f)
THE LADY OF THE MISTS: (based on her mortal name): ella (f), pine (m), nell (m) or nella (f),
EFFE: efelia (f)
the reason there’s so many derivatives is because it’s considered disrespectful to give someone the same name as someone else; they aren’t their own person that way. so even among family if you want to name someone in honor of someone a diminutive is usually taken.
for instance, let’s say you wanted to name your first child after your husband, jagoda (an actual character btw). you wouldn’t name your child “jagoda” you’d come up with a name derived from. so your child would probably be jag or daj or goda or dago or something like that :3

Mini shrimpdate! (Update about shrimp)

Was working on this big 10 gal half aquarium 10 gal half terrarium project but sadly poor girl had to be drained cus the seal wasn't as good as I thought and flooded the terrarium 😢
I think the isopods are ok but def need to get some more cus the extra moisture left over from the flooding made some mold pockets that I think the springtail population wasn't quite big enough yet to handle.

Got some blue oyster mushrooms growing in here (they were purposely inoculated) so hoping they're the only ones responsible for the spores im seeing. Going to a cool expo today hoping to find some more terrarium plants to help fill stuff out and add more roots to the soil. Also need to set up the mist system still since the moss keeps ironically drying out but I wanna wait until I reseal the aquarium to add any stuff like that.
Meanwhile, I drained the aquarium and removed some of the hardscape (especially all that was along the ground) Gonna try to clean and scrape up everything on that side tomorrow so I can reseal it completely. Then gonna coat the hard scape in plastidip. It was made with pond-safe expanding foam, nontoxic acrylic paint, and play sand. But I worry there's still some stuff leaking into the water so gonna give that shit a quick coat in plastidip to be safe. Moved all the plants to a temp aquarium with nothing but moina and snails (pictured above). Assuming I can get the resealing done tomorrow and spray stuff with plastidip the next day, I think I might be able to do a test refill next weekend. Gonna drain it again right after but I wanna at least see where I'm at with this stuff.
Then I'll have to buy some more crushed coral - gonna skip the charcoal this time. We'll do a layer of aquasoil, crushed coral, and then play sand. Gonna re-add the caves again too. I'll add back in the plants, add the slate pebble path. Gonna place the air pump and waterfall pump again, put the cords through the cholla wood again, add the heater, and probably buy more weeping moss to glue around. Also maybe glue some more slate rocks to the hardscape.
Put tap water in buckets with some dechlorinator. Once the chlorine levels measure 0, slowly add in over a bowl to protect the substrate layers. I'll add some moira and snails from my other aquarium and then gotta let that sit for a month.
Hopefully THEN, I can finally add some animals to it and the project will be complete.
#shrimpdates (updates about shrimp)#mostly talking to myself#entirely actually#i make lists to cope with my impatience#i need to remind myself itll only be like#6 weeks#ougg#i hate having things unfinished#i have other projects i can work on in the meantime but this one is in my living room so it is hard to be patient#it taunts me

The Rites of Eleusis by Composer Leila Waddell
The incarnation of Babalon
When I refer to famous female magicians, I always mention Dion Fortune and Moina Mathers. However, many others have been overshadowed by the charisma of their male colleagues or simply had no interest in the limelight. After all, in Magick, one never gains what one does not possess.
Leila Waddell was a companion of Aleister Crowley—whom no one in their right mind would call shy or foolish. She was consumed by her own art as a virtuoso violinist and teacher, dedicating much of her time to promoting the careers of other brilliant but unknown composers in early 20th-century Australia. It was in these artistic circles that she met Crowley, first joining the Astrum Argentum order and later the OTO, contributing her artistic skills by creating beautiful rituals incorporating dance, music, and exquisite poetry.
Perhaps her most important artistic-ritual work is The Rites of Eleusis, which are still practiced today. This piece, in seven acts—representing the seven traditional planets—was created to stimulate an exalted state in the audience, who are expected to be more than mere spectators. The contemporary critics were not kind; although they praised Leila's virtuosity, they analyzed aspects that made no sense to rationalize.
Sexual Magick was always very present in her artistic and magical work. It was Leila—whose magical name was Soror Agatha—whom Crowley called the Scarlet Woman, the personification of Babalon. Based on a positive reinterpretation of the Great Whore of Babylon from the biblical Book of Revelation, Crowley linked the goddess Babalon with the initiatory trial of crossing Daath, the Abyss. Babalon's articulation is the soteriological ideal with which Crowley challenged the prudishness of female sexual modesty and the bourgeois male rationality of his time.

She was a co-author and collaborator in Aleister Crowley's most important literary productions (The Equinox and Liber ABA, which can be downloaded from the magician's bio) and also had her own work as a novelist. Like many famous and unknown magicians, Leila was involved in political matters, especially supporting Irish independence.
Leila Waddell had a passionate and rich life. Consider this post about female magicians also as my political stance.
Here you can enjoy the Rites of Eleusis if you want to include it in your own practice.

Libya dam collapse: Engineering expert raises questions about management

- By Nadhir Al-Ansari , Luleå University of Technology , The Conversation -
More than 11,000 people have been killed and tens of thousands are missing following the catastrophic collapse of two dams in the eastern Libyan city of Derna.
The dam collapse came after an extreme storm, Storm Daniel, slammed into the north African country. The Conversation Africa’s Moina Spooner asked water resources and engineering expert Nadhir Al-Ansari, who has researched the design and safety of dams, to provide insights into the disaster.
How does extreme weather affect the stability of dams?
Dams are usually built to withstand heavy rainfall or drought. The design and construction of a dam takes into consideration all possible effects. All factors, including the type of building materials, the design of the foundation and the stability of a dam, as well as expected floods and earthquakes and even military action, are taken into consideration when planning a dam.
Aside from how the dam is constructed, there should be safety provisions in place. For instance, in cases of storms, the engineers should release the water to ensure that a dam’s maximum carrying capacity is not exceeded.
In the Libyan case, I believe that the management of the dams was not good. The engineer responsible for the dam should have made sure the water did not exceed the dam’s upper carrying capacity. When he noticed that a huge volume of water was entering the reservoir he should have released large quantities of water to keep its level lower than the upper limit.
Research shows that the main causes of dam failure are foundation problems (40%), inadequate spillway (23%), poor construction (12%) and uneven settlement (10%). A site for a dam will not always be level because dams are built in mountain areas, but the designers must take that into consideration. The dam design must suit the topography. Among the rarer causes of dam failures are acts of war (3%), defective material (2%) and earthquakes (1%).
In Libya’s case, bad management appears to have been the cause of the dam’s collapse.
Could this tragedy have been avoided?
Yes, if the responsible people operating the dams had opened the gates to release water. When those responsible for the water management of the dam ignore heavy rainfall then one can expect such disasters to occur.
Dam managers should also know each dam’s catchment area and how much rainfall is forecast. This requires coordination between meteorologists and the staff responsible for the management of dams. When heavy rainfall is expected, the meteorology department should inform dam managers who can then make arrangements for the release of water to keep it within the dam’s operational limits. This is the usual practice in all the dams I’ve studied in Iraq.
In this case, there must have been a breakdown in communication between meteorological department and engineers managing the dams.
How do engineers and authorities typically monitor the structural integrity of dams?
Dams should have a regular inspection programme that takes into consideration all parts of the dam. All countries with dams, whether in the US, Iraq or Sweden, have regular inspections. There should be instruments for monitoring cracks in a dam’s walls and any changes in its structure. Once identified, they must be attended to immediately.
In Libya’s case, if they had opened the sluice gates to keep water within the dam’s carrying capacity, the collapse of the dams would have caused less damage.
Are there emerging technologies or innovations to improve safety?
There are a number of models and techniques and each dam has its own model or technique that the designer suggests. Planning for extreme weather events is usually done at the design stage of the dam. The designer is meant to give a thorough report on the stability of the dam against various factors, including weather.
Different scenarios are given according to the water level in the reservoir of the dam to prevent dam failure. The government concerned should know what to do in case of dam failure, guided by the design information. For instance, in my study of Iraq’s Mosul dam, which took place after the dam was constructed, I suggested that a protection dam be built downstream to secure the safety of the downstream area and its population. Safety steps can be taken even after construction of the dam.
The other safety measures relate to housing and other developments in areas downstream. In Libya’s case, there was poor planning. The areas downstream from the dams should not have been used for housing.
Ultimately, the dam failure in Libya could have been prevented, or at least the losses could have been minimised, if the engineers on site had released the water from the reservoir once the storm started.

Curral de Moinas, Os Banqueiros do Povo
P, 2022
Miguel Cadilhe
6/10
Between Cascais and Curral de Moinas
The duo João Paulo Rodrigues and Pedro Alves, better known as Quim Roscas and Zeca Estacionâncio, emerged as a successful television phenomenon, with amusing short stories evocative of rurality in the Portuguese north, on a morning talk show.
From this success were born two television series, Telerural and Portugal Tal & Qual, as well as two feature films, Sete Pecados Rurais, in 2013, and this Banqueiros do Povo, in 2022.
Always with arguments by Henrique Cardoso Dias and Frederico Pombares, the humor of the duo Roscas and Estacionâncio does not excel in sophistication. It is a popular parody of what is most simple and provincial about Portugal, which has always been the key to success.
It is in this same line that this Banqueiros do Povo appears, which brings nothing new, but which is nonetheless funny and fully corresponds to the expectations of fans of the genre.
Perhaps the best joke in the film is to see TV presenter Júlia Pinheiro playing the duo's peasant godmother.
