семьдесят шестой ведь, кажется, и сам всё прекрасно знал и видел, когда-то даже сам чувствовал, но так давно, что, верно, даже не вспомнится, нечего ворошить помутившиеся на детали островки памяти. и былое вяжет, сплетается в груди тугими узлами: всё происходило так скоро, так близко, но словно за призмой, барьером, пропускающим лишь половину правды и, увы, почти столько же лжи.

он болезненно бледен, прячется под капюшоном и глушит свет в кабинете – от вспышек бестеневых флуоресцентных ламп лишь сильнее болела голова. яд, точно заместо крови, бежит по витиеватым дорожкам практически ссохшихся сосудов, прожигает язвы в клапанах сердца, регенерируемые клетки скапливаются в лимфоузлах и те болезненно воспаляются – вот его личный эликсир бессмертия, панацея от смерти и ран, состоявшая из набора химикатов, названия которых он вряд ли бы выговорил без чужой помощи, тело, трепетно составленное по кирпичикам, сначала одобрившим программу по улучшению бывшим министром обороны, его послушными выблядками в белых халатах, а после и самим командиром, чередой его гнусных, как думал он, но вынужденных решений.

его вечная ломота – цена веры в недостижимо-неосязаемое и контрольный выстрел в незримого врага.

и лишь захлестнувший его с головой ураган гнева смог притупить эту тупую, изнуряющую тело и душу боль, пусть лишь на мгновение, на смену агонии и зудящему, такому надоедливому, ��вербящему раздражению пришла первобытная и слепящая злоба, расслабились забитые ноющие мышцы и распрямилась спина, и он, так никогда и никому в том не признавшись, чуть не захлебнулся в этом экстазе.

хотя рейес все чаще думает, что умереть, пожалуй, было бы проще.

от его огрубевших ладоней по прежнему пахло порохом, запах такой резкий, что ничем не перебьёшь и не выведешь, впитывается в волокна и остаётся там до конца. шрамы, затянутые тугими швами, борозды прорезающих плоть ран, свинец оставит сквозные прорехи даже в самой прочной броне: его вотчина – полигон, жизнь – нескончаемое стрельбище. герои, ветераны, с губ титулы слетают гадко, противно, оставляют металлический привкус и тонкими струйками стекают по горлу, а ведь ещё с полгода назад они не имена, не люди – номера, даже не боевые единицы.

так, пушечное мясо. неприятная статистика. низкий процент успеха. братская могила во имя мира и бога.

человечность бесславна.

у каждого из павших, которым габриэль так отчаянно мстил за каждый заколоченный гроб, тоже было имя. они и не знали, за что полегли, они шли по приказу, но отчего глубже прорастал корнями раздор, оттого больше рейесу было плевать.

яд, медленно стирающий его человечность, опустошая изнутри – джек не хотел, а может просто не успел, не заметил, как от рейеса осталась лишь полая хрупкая оболочка, так же смеется, пьёт такой же отвратительный горький чёрный кофе, даже мешается и пристаёт всё так же, он не обратил внимания, когда гейб стал лишь очередной проблемой.

отчего же, с какого момента, с вины и облегчения, с доверия, неоправданных надежд, веры, долга, чести? помнят ли они эти слова, скребёт ли на душе, болит ли, если болело вообще.

каждый рецидивист видит себя героем, каждый праведен, кто идёт во имя правосудия, плохо, что справедливость оказалась у каждого своя. то был путь, где один не смог бы последовать за вторым.

но чёрно-белое сменяется алым, ни серости, ни зако��а, в тенях не разобрать ни друзей, ни врагов, в призраках нет ни правды, ни лжи, только смерть, лишь отголоски забытой мечты и мираж потерянной цели, идеальный мир, к которому каждый тянется, но отчего-то в разные стороны. 

делая то, что он верил, будет правильным, так сильно заплутав в искажённой морали, моррисон совсем забыл спросить его: зачем?

…ну, джек, это та еще история.

каирское солнце палит нещадно, к духоте не привыкнуть, сколько ни старайся, и на секунду он думает – нет, мираж, галлюцинация, что угодно, только не он, лишь бы не он.

он уходил тихо – растворялся в сизой дымке, терялся в тенях, бесшумно, незаметно, и явился не громче, достаточно беззвучно, чтобы избежать чужих глаз, но одного только шелеста плаща и натужного рваного вздоха достаточно, чтобы пробиться сквозь вязкую пьяную дремоту, и вскоре от сна не остается и следа.

но наваждение не исчезает, всё так же стоит, но совсем не так смирно, точно ссутулившись, согнувшись – уставше, думает джек.

и чем дольше он на него смотрит, тем меньше в нём ему видится жнец и всё больше – габриэль. моррисон ждёт, терпеливо, когда давно забытая радость наконец заклокочет в груди, когда развеется скука, спадёт с плеч надуманный долг и пробудится жизнь, но почему-то джек не чувствует ничего, кроме щемящей душу тоски.

всё таки гейб ему только привиделся.

– не смотри в глаза мёртвым, солдат.

на тембр ниже и на полтона тише, чем обычно, но рейес говорит всё так же, и голос его множится, отражаясь от стен, и заполняет собой всё, но конца той фразы джек уже не слышит, один только противный звон в ушах, прежде чем вновь упасть в свой извечный бессознательный омут.

жнец уходит, не оставляя следов: сам он давно похоронил рейеса под тяжелыми бетонными плитами и руинами, но последнюю часть его той, прежней жизни – габриэля – он оставил шрапнелью и точно в сердце, в темном закоулке душного некрополя. там, где ему самое место.

– упрямец. 

их лица давно исказила старость. это больше не их война, но отчего-то ни один не готов отпустить.

так тебе будет проще.

You know what interaction I've never stopped thinking about since the day I heard it?

Soldier: 76: Ha! Up top, Doctor! Sigma: Hm? Up where? Soldier: 76: Too slow! Um... never mind...

I just...I love it. I love it so much. I was playing Soldier at the time and had a Sigma on my team and the fact I didn't fully catch on makes me think that I might have been random round and I managed to catch this.

My world just paused for a moment and I got the goofiest smile.

You only get this if you get a team kill with both Sigma's and Soldier's ults. (Which yay us for managing that without communication).

But this is just like my favorite interaction ever.

It's so unexpected from Soldier as he's somewhat meant to be in "story" and not a gesture I think he would turn and do towards Sigma. And the fact that by the dialogue he went through it even though Sigma didn't understand and then he gets embarrassed.

I'm so happy that two of my mains and favorite characters have this interaction

I want their irises to be enormous, allowing for better natural night vision. In daylight it’s unnerving, slightly off and unnatural. In low light the whole eye is drowned in black

I want muscles torn and ligaments shredded with no regard; part of becoming like this is lowering pain intake to be able to do this

I want Reyes coming apart and flickering to have started long before Moira. What if it made you both strong and malleable, what if his skin was becoming loose and faint around the edges even before she pushed it to new extremes? I want that

I want the process of making humans into weapons to alter you in ways that makes you scary, I want it to leave your teeth on edge to be in the room with them for too long. I want the violence to spring from their agency being robbed

I want them to catch glimpses in mirrors and think ‘what it is there I cannot seem to recognise?’

I mean it's a pretty solid statement of how they're opposed, but also Symm's had some character development since then, and Jack's kind of... continued being stuck in his weird isolationist macho mode, so it would be interesting to play with that.

Symmetra: If everyone has shielding, then that means people would be buying more arms to break that shielding. Vishkar keeps its shielding out of mainstream markets to keep from heightening an already ongoing arms race.

Soldier 76: And you think you can just judge the whole world like that?

Symmetra: If the world is not ready for our vision, then it is hardly ready for our technology.

DUDE.??? I've shipped Sigma76 since Sigma's release but there was barely content of it back in 2019, and seeing all of your stuff posted of them now is so refreshing , THANK U for doing God's work

Y'ALL EXIST ? when i first looked through the tag (this and sig76 too) there was only like.. one piece of art and writing piece of them 😭😭😭 which kinda makes sense and doesn't at the same time because we have other popular sigma mlm ships like s1ghardt and s1grold (both of which are still considered rarepairs in the ovw fandom dauisjiajdid)....

I just wanted to put out content of them since y'know-like what you said about them having barely any content.

I'm putting them out in hopes of having newer shippers hop onto the sigma76 train if they ever do get intrigued by it ... I honestly feel like the ship has so much potential and it's not in an ooc kind of way.

Writing Notes: Hooking your Readers

Hook—The first line, lines, or paragraph meant to grab the reader’s attention

For most people, a night out at the movies includes sitting through the coming attractions. We watch these short bursts of scenes that scare us, intrigue us, make us laugh, and sometimes nearly bring us to tears. No matter the preview, though, if it looks good, we want to go see the movie. An effective “hook” in your story works the same way. You want to grab your reader right away and compel them to continue reading.

Some common strategies for creating a hook & examples:

Anecdote: My hands shook and beads of sweat rolled down my face. I double-checked the directions before assembling my tools and turning up the heat. Making lasagna shouldn’t have been this stressful, but in my grandmother’s kitchen, the stakes were a little higher. 

Direct quote: “Be open and use the world around you.” Toni Morrison gives this advice about the craft of writing, but I find that it applies to most areas of my life.

General statement or truth: Every child, no matter how sheltered or well-adjusted, will experience fear. Whether they are scared of the monster under the bed or the neighbor’s barking dog, children experience fear as a normal and healthy part of childhood.

History: On Wednesday, August 28, 1963, thousands traveled to Washington D.C. by road, rail, and air. There were demonstrators of all races, creeds, and genders. Unafraid of the intimidation and violence they faced, they demonstrated for the rights of all. Known as The Great March on Washington, this day marked an important turning point in the Civil Rights Movement in the United States.

Metaphor: Stretched out in a sunbeam, my cat may seem timid, but really, she’s a lion. She will stealthily stalk her prey, attack without mercy, and leave a trail of blood and guts in her wake. Afterward, as she grooms her luxurious mane, she shows no remorse.

Like, reader is smaller than them so the clothes are really comfy. Especially the older stuff cus decade+ old fabric is so soft.

HEADCANONS

• Stealing your boys’ clothes is by far the EASIEST thing anyone could do. The reason being? They quite literally never change out of the fits they’ve had on since 1987.

• The boys don’t have much of a scent, seeing as they’re all undead. So a washing machine doesn’t exist in their little world anymore. Which means they will now forever be outfit repeaters.

More fun for you. 

• All of the boys have the most random shit scattered around the cave. They’re the worst hoarders you have ever encountered. Cough cough.. Paul.. cough cough..

• But the amount of clothes they have laying around is shocking. Boots, band tees, jackets, jeans, leather trousers, gloves, shirts, man you name it. They have it. Every fucking decade.

• The band tees are by far your favourite thing to run around with. Paul has a shit ton of Môtley Crüe tees, and Dwayne has so many shirts with The Doors on them. (Jim’s face is literally everywhere in the cave now. They sure as hell ain’t Christians, so if they’re selling their souls to anyone it’s the horned god below or their icon Jim Morrison.)

• They did let you away with wearing their old band tees until Marko told the boys about EBay.

When Paul found out a vintage Mötley Crüe tour shirt was going for over a grand, the mf was ecstatic..

So much so, he decided to put his own vintage Mötley tees up for bidding.

“Two thousand… three thousand.. FOUR THOUSAND… FIVE THOUSAND FUCKING DOLLARS!!!”

Poor Paul’s bubble was burst however when David told him there was absolutely nothing they could do with the money aside from unlimited Chinese food for the next few months.

• David’s old clothes are much different from what the others have. He was the first to be turned, therefore he’s lived throughout the most eras.

• He’s got a LOT of leather jackets and trenchcoats. Paul and Marko always joke about him being Jack the Ripper, but you see a different side to his style. There’s been many nights you actually sat down with him and asked where he’d gotten the majority of his old items. Some were by Spanish designers that had been gifts from Max whenever he’d provided David with different clothing, others were from when David had fed off multiple store owners and casually picked out what he fancied afterwards.

• It saddens you that he doesn’t wear any of these anymore. The only reminder he ever gets of them is when you put on the soft wool Trenchcoats that go right down to your ankles, almost looking like a cape. Marko makes mini conspiracy theories that maybe you’re the real Dracula.

• Dwayne’s load of clothes is FILLED with leopard print designs. He’s been a 70s boy even all these years later, and he misses that era so dearly.

• There’s this one satin leopard print shirt that actually fits you quite well in his eyes. It’s still a little baggy.. yet oddly attractive to him. You’ve claimed it as your own now, wearing it like a pj set.

• Aside from the satin shirt, literally nothing else Dwayne has fits you. He’s a muscular guy.. and a vampire. So trying to get his baggy ass clothes to even have a slight loose fit is not for the weak 😭

• Marko however, this is where the real fun begins. You can borrow anything from Marko.. ANYTHING.. and it’s guaranteed to fit.

• He was a big crop top collector. When he used to find a good shirt that wasn’t cropped however, he’d cut it up and make it into a crop top himself. And these are what he adores you wearing. They cling nicely to your curved body, and whenever you wear them you can never get both Paul and Marko to stop staring at your breasts. Assholes.

• Marko’s clothes are by far your favourite pieces out all the boys. Much like the crop tops, he really enjoyed designing all his other outfits when he wore them. And he was pretty damn good at it too. Marko can be a crafty little thing when he wants to be. He’ll even help you design your own outfits too! He’ll cut, sew, stitch, glue, draw, paint, anything you want Marko to design, he’s down. He took so much pride in his unique outfits back in the day. And if you want yours spiced up, Marko’s your man.

• You wear his old belts a lot. One time, you were rummaging through the boys’ old stuff again, and immediately fell in love with this black latex belt Marko had. He’d drawn on perfectly shaped skulls with a white acrylic pen, and added different studs around the buckle. Ever since that day, Marko pretty much customises everything you own now.
