I really don’t care if I’m considered an annoying luddite forever, I will genuinely always hate AI and I’ll think less of you if you use it. ChatGPT, Generative AI, those AI chatbots - all of these things do nothing but rot your brain and make you pathetic in my eyes. In 2025? You’re completely reliant on a product owned by tech billionaires to think for you, write for you, inspire you, in 2025????

“Oh but I only use ___ for ideas/spellcheck/inspiration!!” I kinda don’t care? oh, you’re “only” outsourcing a major part of the creative process that would’ve made your craft unique to you. Writing and creating art has been one of the most intrinsically human activities since the dawn of time, as natural and central to our existence as the creation of the goddamn wheel, and sheer laziness and a culture of instant gratification and entitlement is making swathes of people feel not only justified in outsourcing it but ahead of the curve!!

And genuinely, what is the point of talking to an AI chatbot, since people looove to use my art for it and endlessly make excuses for it. RP exists. Fucking daydreaming exists. You want your favourite blorbo to sext you, there’s literally thousands of xreader fic out there. And if it isn’t, write it yourself! What does a computer’s best approximation of a fictional character do that a human author couldn’t do a thousand times better. Be at your beck and call, probably, but what kind of creative fulfilment is that? What scratch is that itching? What is it but an entirely cyclical ourobouros feeding into your own validation?

I mean, for Christ sakes there are people using ChatGPT as therapists now, lauding it for how it’s better than any human therapist out there because it “empathises”, and no one ever likes to bring up how ChatGPT very notably isn’t an accurate source of information, and often just one that lives for your approval. Bad habits? Eh, what are you talking about, ChatGPT told me it’s fine, because it’s entire existence is to keep you using it longer and facing any hard truths or encountering any real life hard times when it comes to your mental health journey would stop that!

I just don’t get it. Every single one of these people who use these shitty AIs have a favourite book or movie or song, and they are doing nothing by feeding into this hype but ensuring human originality and sincere passion will never be rewarded again. How cute! You turned that photo of you and your boyfriend into ghibli style. I bet Hayao Miyazaki, famously anti-war and pro-environmentalist who instills in all his movies a lifelong dedication to the idea that humanity’s strongest ally is always itself, is so happy that your request and millions of others probably dried up a small ocean’s worth of water, and is only stamping out opportunities for artists everywhere, who could’ve all grown up to be another Miyazaki. Thanks, guys. Great job all round.

I have 114 fics on Ao3 between two Accounts. Today I found out that 113 of them were scraped for AI training in the mass scape by HuggingFace user nyuuzyou. That is almost 730.000 words and 7 years worth of love, dedication and work in many different fandoms. I am sick to my stomach with anger and upset and whilst I will try my best to take action, I doubt it will do much, considering this user uploaded the dataset to a ton of sites and genuinely refers it it as "my dataset" WHICH - THE FUCKING GALL! YOUR DATASET?!?! WITH THE DATA YOU FUCKING STOLE?!??!!?

I am so fucking angry. I am a scientist. I actively research the negative impacts of generative AI on creative spaces. Now I am also actively harmed by those same negative impacts, as were hundreds other talented dedicated writers.

If you genuinely think any form of generative AI or scraping are okay, get the actual fuck away from any of my pages. In fact, get the fact out of fandom spaces. GenAI is not Art, it is theft of intellectual property [and yes, whilst fanfic cannot be copyrighted, the fics are still intellectual property of the writers, especially when we are talking about AUs].

ALSO ANOTHER THING: A lot of the fics that were scraped were canon fics of my original character Elwood. Fics for Skybound which I am apart of. Fics that are 100% my original intellectual property. They are not a fan work, they are literally part of the langer canon.

I am so fucking angry. Fuck you, GenAI users and apologists. Fuck you very much.

Soooo, apparently, someone by the name of "nyuuzyou" recently scraped tons of fanfics off of AO3 and posted them to various generative ai database sites. It seems like fics which were only viewable by people with profiles were safe, so a bunch of people are locking their accounts. I don't know if I'll be locking mine yet, but if you've been using AO3 as a guest, you may want to sign up soon. If you do have an account, and your fics were victims of the scrape, you might be able to file a copyright claim. This reddit post seems to have most of the information, including what works were scraped and where the data was posted.

The thing about tumblr is that there’s a panic about how the site is dying and falling apart literally every other week so eventually if you’ve been here long enough you just get zen about it. Like if anything specific is your breaking point do whatever you want but personally they’re gonna have to pry me out of the vents like a feral raccoon before I leave. Anyway if you’re new here and you see people talk about how something is the end of tumblr and you’re afraid they’re correct I just want you to know I’ve been here through probably like 300 ends of tumblr. And behold, Annabelle! The final velidgun for the previous generation and Jack’s predecessor! And oh boy, Jack has some big shoes to fill. She become so infamous around the country that some people believed her to be Azrael, the angel of death in the Bible.

A couple quick facts. She is a selective mute. She can talk, but she doesn’t want to. Both her and her partner, Oliver, are ambush or stalker hunters, where they follow their prey for extended periods of time before attacking.

Honestly, between what I’ve written for her and her design, she works better as Alex’s predecessor than Jack’s, but I don’t feel like redesigning her so here we are.

(Also if I had a nickel for every time I made a velidgun oc with a veil based on nightvale fanart (her design was based on old women Josie’s angels) I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot but it’s weird it happened twice)

Hello everyone, just a little update while I complete my ArtFight entries + write my fic drafts, since I know there's still people trying to read my fic or still haven't read my fic.

I set my Hidden Hands AU fic to view-only to registered users for now because there's apparently a bot scraping fics off the site (rivd dot net - thankfully and miraculously I'm not on there, but plenty of fic authors are) and I wanna make sure it never happens to my fics at all, or to anyone else who's also an AO3 author themselves.

For AO3 writers, please check this twitter thread when you can, and hope you don't find yourself in it, because it requires you to give out your REAL NAME and real life information and that's NOT GOOD. Please don't give out your information to these people/the site.

It's disappointing to hear that these kinds of people think they can just scrape off works out of complete passion or works made for fun by authors, where we're never paid or compensated for any of it, but they think they can just steal and feed it into some stupid A/I slop because they think they could just steal our hard work and make some profit off of it, and treating it like no big deal all "in the name of the future".

It's horrible, and I hope there's going to be laws and restrictions around not just this practice in general, but to all kinds of protection around artists' works as a whole. We artists and creatives really don't deserve to be treated like this.

As a disabled person, I'm so disgusted by what happened on the @whumptober blog recently and how they're trying to sweep it under the rug.

Discussions about AI aside, deleting replies from disabled people speaking out against the rampant ableism you're spreading and that is happening in your comments/reblogs, is so fucking gross and I can't believe they did that. Like, I used to love the whump community but now it just feels incredibly unsafe.

The whump community has always been accused of being ableist and I hate that now I can't even argue against it because some of the biggest names in this community apparently are really fucking chill with silencing disabled people for speaking out against that behavior.

These mods and anybody who is supporting that behavior can go fuck themselves <3
