Something about Andor?

oooo this one’s easy because I have almost exclusively good things to say about Andor. where do I even start???

the writing is FANTASTIC. it’s a fairly neat, self-contained plot that weaves the separate storylines together so well, manifesting in the last episode where everyone is on Ferrix. speaking of Ferrix, I love how real the location and its community feel because the writers put effort into making all the little connections between characters and establishing traditions and a clear culture. oh and all the parallels to real life events and cultures, particularly the ones Diego Luna has said were inspired by his own experiences.

I love the characters!!! which is definitely also a product of the writing because everyone feels so fleshed out, and it seems like even the random side characters have their own lives and motivations. Cassian is such an interesting protagonist and his development and character arc so far has been so well done. I love how complex his morality is and how we, the viewers, see him realize his responsibility to fight the Empire on behalf of everyone, not just himself. Mon’s storyline is also one of my favorites. I think she’s such an interesting character as well, especially in her relationships with others. messy father-son relationships in Star Wars are great and all, but a messy mother-daughter relationship? holyyy fuck. I’m so unwell about them. Nemik being the revolutionary idealist, Vel and Cinta trying to balance their duty to the Rebellion with their relationship, Syril being the most cringefail loser ever, whatever the hell is going on with Luthen, etc etc it’s all just so interesting. (and not to mention good lord this cast is FINE)

and so so so many other things, I could seriously talk about this show all day. B2EMO is one of my absolute favorite droids now!! he’s so precious. and a canon sapphic relationship?!?!! and don’t even get me started on the MUSIC. Nicholas Britell deserves all the praise omg

inspo for the AU was half star wars rebels and half just playing through JFO and interacting with the fandom. I love seeing Kanan and Ahsoka's interactions, especially since in TOTJ we get confirmation that Kanan knew Ahsoka/watched her training in the temple!! also, so much of JFO revolves around rebuilding a new Jedi order, and I wanted to explore how that would go if Cal realized that he and Cere weren't the only Jedi left. Not only are there others, but other padawans specifically! I think Cal, Kanan, and Ahsoka each bring a different kind of child soldier trauma to the chat, and I wanted them to heal together and maybe fix everything also

also, while different AUs and timelines, major shoutout to @stealingpotatoes TL4J AU!!! it's so adorable and i love seeing what other people do with the padawan survivors!!!!

Song inspo will always be My Tears Ricochet by Taylor Swift specifically for the line "I can go anywhere I want, just not home."

And I am horrible at wanting to do editing, whether thats academic work or for fun. I much prefer brainstorming!! i have like ten million ideas for this fic and a few other ones kicking around in my brain rn

How many pairs of scissors do you own?

Difficult to say since I have some at work, but at home it's probably somewhere between 15 and 20? I have different ones for different crafts and also several children's scissors and left handed scissors for kids.

Do you still own your first car?

No, it's my second actually. Bought both used tho and the first one got too expensive to repair, sadly.

How do you take your morning coffee/tea?

If I drink any at all, it's either camomile tea or coffee with coconut milk (if I can get any). Used to drink lots of black and green tea tho.

What's something you collect?

Blorbos XD No, photobooks, DVDs and CDs. Books, too, of course but less than in older times. And paintings my friends made =^^= Also plants!

What's your commute like?

I'm driving to work with my car, sadly. Wish I could take the train but I live in the middle of nowhere (European nowhere) and the train would take forever to work and then I'd also need a car to go from one place to another ^^° But my goal is to one day find a place closer to work or change both together.

Weekly tag Wednesday

This week - tell me about a day in the life of: Name:  Kat

Age: two noshos minus a couple of years

Are you in school, do you work full-time, or other?  Work full-time… for now.

Tell me about your morning routine on a school/work day: Wake up about 45 minutes before work, get up and do a few basics, meds, then back to bed to scroll for 20 minutes or so.  Grab some breakfast and down the hall to the office.

What do you usually have for breakfast? That one really varies.  I’m not a huge breakfast eater, and I get bored of the same foods quickly, so I switch it up a lot.  Lately it’s been bagels and cream cheese though.

How many breaks do you take during the day?  I take a 30 minute lunch, and usually step away for 5 minutes a couple of other times.  I really should take my full allocation of legal breaks!

Do you go straight home when you are done?  Well, I work from home so it’s almost impossible not to….

Do you like to go out in the evening?  Not so much on work days.  I try to save my social battery for the weekends.

Do you cook dinner or order in?  I order in more than I should these days, but there are no spoons for cooking at the moment.

How do you entertain yourself in the evenings?  I watch more TV than I should, poke around online, write when I can muster up the energy.

And finally, tell me about your bedtime routine:  I procrastinate going to bed for as long as I can manage.  But then it’s into my pajamas, brush my teeth, put my hair up, and under the covers to scroll for half an hour or so. Thanks for coming along for this little visit into my simple and boring life!

Today's Fallen Order request is 'Uncharted' for @abigailspinach

“We’re lost,” Greez declares.

“We’re not lost,” Cere tells him.

They keep walking through the trees, dead leaves crunching underfoot. The air is chilly with winter’s approach, the promise of frost in the air. It’s nice to get out after days stuck on the ship. At least that’s what the others tell Greez. Personally, he likes being stuck on the ship. All of Cere’s comments about him getting weird pass over his head. He likes hulls, bulkheads, walls, doors… Is it his fault his species has a history of living in underground tunnels? Some facts of nature go deep, deep down into the marrow of someone. Besides, all this hiking and climbing and mud… it’s just… he’s not…

“We’re lost!” Greez wails.

“We’re not lost!” Cere, Cal, Merrin shout at him.

BD just does that disappointed warble sound he makes when someone’s really getting on his circuits.

Greez doesn’t buy it from any of them. “Oh, we’re not? Can any of you find us on a map?”

BD peeps that he can because he is the map.

Cal snorts.

Greez is ready for them both. “Now, BD, I am not one to question your expertise in cartography.”

Cal coughs.

“However, don’t you make maps as you go, meaning you don’t know if we’re anywhere near the place Cere thinks we’re headed to?”

BD tips his head to one side, conceding the point.

“Unmapped just means uncharted,” Cal says, entirely too chipper for someone who might never see the galaxy beyond these woods ever again. “Relax, Greez, breathe in that fresh air and try to enjoy yourself. We’ve got the camping gear, you have a big ol’ fire to build in your future, and everything will be fine.”

“I thought we were looking for some huge structure like those temples on Zeffo. How come we haven’t found it yet?”

“Because this is an unpopulated moon and we had to land the ship some distance from our destination,” Merrin tells him. “You are impatient, Greez. Walking is not as fast as flying, especially for you.”

“We’re almost there,” Cere calls from the front. “I can feel it.”

Cere’s certainty gives Greez hope. “You could have told me that Force thing of yours tells you stuff like that.”

“Oh, no, it’s not the Force.”

Hope dwindles. “Then how – ”

Cal takes pity on him. “We’re going uphill. Haven’t you noticed? The ruins are on top of this hill.”

BD lets out a long string of beeps.

“BD says you can do it. In fact, he thinks you could probably beat him to the top of the hill. His legs are even shorter than yours after all.”

As if to prove a point, BD hops down, skuttles to Greez and hops from one foot to another, still babbling.

“He promises he won’t use his thrusters,” Cal translates.

“Fine, BD, let’s go.”

Greez makes it to the top of the hill ahead of anyone. As promised, there are ruins – if piles of rock can be called ruins. BD disappears, the light of his scanner showing where he is. Cal leaps and bounds off to join him, Cere goes at a (barely) more restrained pace, and Merrin teleports a few times before joining Greez. “I would like to help with the fire,” she says.

“Good,” Greez says, still trying to catch his breath. “Because I think I need a nap after all this fresh air.”

Instead of sleeping, Greez shows Merrin the fine art of building a fire you can cook on without using magick, and by the time their Jedi and droid return, Greez and Merrin have the flames roaring, the meat cooking and the tea brewing. The stars come out, the ruins protecting their little campsite from the worst of the hilltop breeze.

Cal drops down next to Greez. “Not bad for an uncharted forest moon, huh?”

Greez pours the hot chocolate into four mugs. “Not bad at all.”
