Truly oppressed people don’t call the cops on women writing on sidewalks with chalk.

Police were called after a group of women’s rights campaigners converged at the studio of a national news organization to protest what they describe as unbalanced coverage of gender identity ideology that results in harm to children.

The women used chalk to write messages on the sidewalk in front of ABC headquarters, including, “ABC grooms for big pharma,” “humans cannot change sex,” “give gender critical women a voice,” “men can never be lesbians,” “stop lying!” and “sex not gender.” According to one of the campaigners, who tweets as Anji Jones: “They called the police even though they were going to wash the chalk off with a high pressure washer straight away anyway. They are so desperate to stifle any resistance to gender ideology. There must be some big $$$ involved.” She said, “they told [the police] we were ‘graffitiing the building’ when we were chalking the footpath.” When the police arrived, “we said we didn’t want to give our names, talked a bit and they called back to the station and said we could just go home now,” another women’s right campaigner who was at the protest reported. Ms Jones said the women took this “protest action” because ABC is “grooming kids to be trans and saturating us with capitulation to the gender cult.” Noting that “we refuse to believe men are women and kids can change sex,” she asked  @abcmelbourne in a tweet: “If ‘inclusivity’ includes women why do you silence our voices of concern?” “They called the police?” a Twitter user wrote. “Given they are supposed to be a news outlet the least they could have done is call a journalist. Then again the ABC is captured and no longer impartial.” In July 2019, ABC uncritically shared the story of “transgender child” Eden Meddick, who “first realised during his teens that he was transgender.” Eden, who is female, “had surgery on the upper half of his body.” The child’s double breast amputation had come as part of a journey “challenging his binary identity.” ABC used Eden’s story to promote legislation that would allow Victorians, including children, to change the sex marker on their birth certificate and other identifying documents to male, female or a personalized option. The bill passed into law on August 27 of that year.

At the time ABC posted the interview with Eden’s family, writer Janet Fraser asked: “Is ABC planning to share stories of detransitioning people? What investigation has ABC done into how self identification affects spaces for vulnerable women like refuges and homeless shelters?”

Russian military satellite launch spawns space-junk fireball over Australia (video)

Russia launched a military satellite to orbit on Friday (May 22), and the mission generated plenty of action in the downward direction as well.

A four-stage Soyuz-2 rocket lifted off from Plesetsk Cosmodrome in northwestern Russia early Friday morning, carrying a classified payload that’s believed to be the fourth satellite for the country’s EKS OiBU missile-warning network, according to RussianSpaceWeb.com.

The Soyuz successfully delivered the satellite to its intended orbit, the Russian space agency Roscosmos announced Friday afternoon. 

The rocket’s third stage was expected to re-enter Earth’s atmosphere over southeastern Australia, with any surviving debris from that part of the booster targeted to splash down in the Pacific Ocean south of Tasmania, RussianSpaceWeb.com reported. 

Many people in the region, from central Victoria to northern Tasmania, saw a brilliant fireball overhead at the appropriate time, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) reported. This was no coincidence; they were witnessing the fiery death of the Soyuz’s third stage.

“The slow speed, about 6 kilometres per second, is a very telltale sign that it is space junk,” Jonti Horner, an astrophysics professor at the University of Southern Queensland, told the ABC. (Asteroids and other space rocks that slam into our atmosphere are going much faster than that.)

Not every hunk of space junk comes down as quickly as this piece of the Soyuz did. Indeed, Earth orbit is littered with dead satellites, spent rocket bodies and other debris. NASA estimates that there are 500,000 pieces of junk up there at least as big as a marble. And even such small objects can cause serious damage if they hit a spacecraft, considering that bodies in low-Earth orbit zip around our planet at about 17,500 mph (28,160 km/h).
