This is fucking ridiculous. Btw the baby is okay, of course they broke the window glass.
My mom has a Volkswagen and when her key fob died and she couldn’t get in it, she had to call AAA. There was a keyhole on the car, but it was hidden and my mom had no idea.
Now, electric cars, especially Teslas, are dying in extreme heat and trapping people inside. Apparently Teslas Only have a manual release inside the car, that many people don’t know about and is utterly useless if a baby is trapped inside the car! It’s absurd.
There needs to be regulations against this, not having a way to use a fucking physical key to open a door is a potential death trap. And if you’re going to hide the keyhole and levers, (which btw why??) there should be a huge fucking instruction on how to use before they can even take the car off the lot.
So please, if you own an electric car please be aware of this problem and learn how to open your car without electricity. And if it can’t, like the Tesla from the outside, make sure you have a window breaking utensil. (Which btw, you should have anyway)

Excerpt from this story from Hoodline:
Activists and Tribal leaders united this past Saturday in a protest against the continued operation of the Pinyon Plain uranium mine located near the Grand Canyon, with around 250 participants including members of the Havasupai and Lakota tribes. According to a report by ABC15, the protest was to send a clear message requesting the shutdown of the mine, as stated by Sandy Bahr, Sierra Club Grand Canyon Chapter Director.
The Havasupai tribe, whose sacred lands and water sources are to potentially be affected, together with conservationists, have long voiced their concerns. Recently, transportation of the uranium across Navajo Nation lands has also been called into question. Following the protest, Energy Fuels – the company behind the mine – reportedly paused shipments as talks with the Navajo Nation continued. Curtis Moore, a spokesman for Energy Fuels, said, "We have had productive discussions with the Navajo Nation, and we believe the parties will be able to come to a reasonable agreement that ensures coordinated emergency management and the protection of public health and safety at all times," in a statement obtained by ABC15.
On top of the eco-political tensions, Arizona Attorney General has called for a fresh look into the environmental impact of the mine, citing the age and outdatedness of the current study. Taylor McKinnon of the Center for Biological Diversity underscored the urgency, telling ABC15, "The old [study] is obviously old and didn't consider a lot of the new science, which is very clear, saying that there is a very real threat to Grand Canyon's groundwater and its springs and its creeks from this uranium mine."

Penny McCarthy froze in her front yard as a van full of armed US marshals in bullet-proof vests pulled up in her front yard, screaming and swearing at her. She had no idea what was going on.
“Police! Don’t move, hands up,” one of the officers shouted, pointing his assault weapon at her. At one point they told the 66-year-old that if she turned around again she would be Tasered.
“Do you want to confirm who I am?” McCarthy asked the officers, per bodyworn footage later released by the US Marshal Service (USMS) and obtained by ABC15. “Put your hands behind your back, we’ll discuss this later,” came the reply.
The shocking incident, which took place in Arizona in March 2023 was, ultimately, a case of mistaken identity.
Police had been seeking a totally different woman – 70-year-old Carole Anne Rozak – who was wanted on an outstanding parole violation warrant from 1999 out of Oklahoma.
Rozak served prison time for all non-violent crimes. But according to federal court records also obtained by ABC15, she failed to report to any federal probation officer after she was released from federal custody in Harris County, Texas.
In the police footage McCarthy is heard asking the marshals multiple times if they know who she is but is consistently ignored. It was not until she was in handcuffs that officers finally told.
“Carole Rozak,” she is told, with McCarthy replying: “That’s not who I am.”
Despite McCarthy offering to provide proof that she was not Rozak, she was arrested and put in the back of the police van.
It later emerged in court hearings that federal agents had based the false identification on Facebook postings and “some aliases” that they had obtained. An Arizona federal judge dismissed the case against McCarthy, but not before she had spent time in prison over the mix-up.
According to the Deputy US Marshal Service in Oklahoma, a “glitch” caused them to believe that McCarthy’s digital fingerprints matched Rozak’s. This was later debunked.
A statement put out by the service read: “USMS continues to conduct a thorough review of actions taken by deputy US marshals regarding the fugitive investigation of Caroline Anne Rozak and subsequent mistaken arrest of Penny McCarthy.”
The grandmother is still affected by the incident.
“I am so fricking disappointed in my government, it’s not funny,” Ms McCarthy told ABC15, following the release of the bodycam footage.
“They did nothing but treat me like crap and lie to me,” she added. “Ths US marshals are above the law, that’s what this says to me.”
#nunyas news#she's gonna get a nice fat cheque out of this one#think she'd rather it hadn't happened tho

Lake Havasu Arizona Police Use Slur Before Tasering, Arresting Man With Special Needs – Phoenix Arizona reporting
Arizona man with developmental disabilities files lawsuit against Lake Havasu City for excessive force and battery after repeated tasering
David Adams, 25, was arrested by the officers on June 7, 2023, after his brother called 911 wanting police to evict David. The brother later told officers he was locked out of the family’s apartment after he and David fought over a blanket.
Lake Havasu City Police Department declined an in-person interview due to ongoing litigation, but emailed ABC15 stating officers have “regular training in reference to high liability issues including Taser, firearms, driving, case law, and interacting with subjects that have special needs.”
This is what was heard on the body worn police camera :
“These are those three f***ing d***heads that me and Danielle dealt with.”
“Mom is out of town. That's why they are acting up... is because mom usually keeps them under control.”
“They’re all like special needs, yes.”
When a police supervisor, Sgt. Clint Wilcox, arrived, one of the officer’s descriptions of the brothers became more vulgar and demeaning. He used the R-word, a slur to describe someone who is intellectually or developmentally disabled.
“These are those three brothers that are f***king ret***ed,” said an officer. “They are all like special needs.”
An internal investigation found multiple officers used unprofessional language while at the scene, which violates department policies.
The Police Issued Themselves A Letter Of Counseling.

1st Amendment
SURPRISE, AZ — For Rebekah Massie, sometimes it still doesn’t feel real. “I honestly don’t have words to describe it,” she said. “Because it still seems very fake.” Her arrest on August 20 was captured on video and made national headlines. On that day, an officer hauled Massie out of a Surprise City Council meeting on orders from the mayor and police chief.***
https://www.abc15.com/news/local-news/investigations/woman-arrested-for-speaking-at-a-city-council-meeting-abc15-exposes-new-details-in-outrageous-case
There is a video of the city council meeting, https://surpriseaz.portal.civicclerk.com/event/4076/media, and you can see her walk to the podium at about 1 hour and 58 minutes. She criticizes the city attorney and his $250,000 salary. It's a Phoenix suburb with a population of about 145k. City police arrest her at about 2 hours and 2 minutes.
Why you would arrest someone wearing a "Cyberbully the government" t-shirt is beyond me. She is, of course, suing in Massie v. City of Surprise, 24-cv-2276 (D.Ariz). She is suing the city, the mayor, Skip Hall, and the police officer, Steven Shernicoff.
Maybe the city thought it could invoke the Alien and Sedition Acts. Then again, the city didn't say she was lying....

Deepfakes can mean deepprison
***The harrowing tale of Elliston Berry, a teenager who sat beside first lady Melania Trump during Tuesday’s joint session, underscores the suffering deepfake images inflict. In October 2023, Berry woke up for a normal day at Aledo High School in Texas and discovered that deepfake pictures of her naked had been circulating throughout the student body on Snapchat and Instagram. The original images had been lifted from her social media accounts by a male classmate and manipulated by artificial intelligence. “It was so realistic. It is child porn,” said Berry’s mother, Anna McAdams, at the time. “We really could not take care of her. We, in that moment, were helpless. More and more pictures were coming out throughout that first day into the second day.” It wasn’t until McAdams traveled to Washington to meet Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) that she was able to get the pictures of her daughter removed from social media. Cruz contacted Snapchat, and they were taken down within 24 hours. ***
There is already a federal law on the books that criminalizes what happened to Ms Berry.
18 U.S.C. §2256. Definitions for chapter says
(8) "child pornography" means any visual depiction, including any photograph, film, video, picture, or computer or computer-generated image or picture, whether made or produced by electronic, mechanical, or other means, of sexually explicit conduct, where- (A) the production of such visual depiction involves the use of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct; (B) such visual depiction is a digital image, computer image, or computer-generated image that is, or is indistinguishable from, that of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct; or (C) such visual depiction has been created, adapted, or modified to appear that an identifiable minor is engaging in sexually explicit conduct.
The federal penalties for this crime start at 5 years.

Don't make Dave angry
A federal jury in Cleveland convicted a Texas man today for writing and deploying malicious code on his former employer’s network. According to court documents and evidence presented at trial, Davis Lu, 55, of Houston, was employed as a software developer for the victim company headquartered in Beachwood, Ohio, from November 2007 to October 2019. Following a 2018 corporate realignment that reduced his responsibilities and system access, Lu began sabotaging his employer’s systems. By Aug. 4, 2019, he introduced malicious code that caused system crashes and prevented user logins. Specifically, he created “infinite loops” (in this case, code designed to exhaust Java threads by repeatedly creating new threads without proper termination and resulting in server crashes or hangs), deleted coworker profile files, and implemented a “kill switch” that would lock out all users if his credentials in the company’s active directory were disabled. The “kill switch” code — which Lu named “IsDLEnabledinAD”, abbreviating “Is Davis Lu enabled in Active Directory” — was automatically activated upon his termination on Sept. 9, 2019, and impacted thousands of company users globally. Lu named other code “Hakai,” a Japanese word meaning “destruction,” and “HunShui,” a Chinese word meaning “sleep” or “lethargy.” Additionally, on the day he was directed to turn in his company laptop, Lu deleted encrypted data. His internet search history revealed he had researched methods to escalate privileges, hide processes, and rapidly delete files, indicating an intent to obstruct efforts of his co-workers to resolve the system disruptions. Lu’s employer suffered hundreds of thousands of dollars in losses as a result of Lu’s actions. The jury convicted Lu of causing intentional damage to protected computers, for which he faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison. ***

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said her department has identified two employees, whom she labeled as "criminal leakers," and will refer them to the Justice Department "for felony prosecutions," The Hill reported. Noem posted on X: "We have identified criminal leakers within @DHSgov and are preparing to refer these perpetrators to the @TheJusticeDept for felony prosecutions. These individuals face up to 10 years in federal prison. We will find and root out all leakers. They will face prison time & we will get justice for the American people." In a short video that Noem posted with her written comments, she said the two department employees had been communicating with others about department enforcement actions that put lives at risk. The identities of the two have not been released. Noem is also holding back specifics about their actions.***

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A Spanish Lake man remains behind bars for now for sexual misconduct on a MetroLink train for the second time. Deangelo Covington was in court Monday, asking a judge to reduce his $50,000 bond for charges of sexual misconduct on a MetroLink train. *** According to court documents, security cameras caught Covington having sex with a seat on the train for 10 minutes at St. Louis Airport Terminal One Station last month. Allegedly, the same day he exposed himself to someone at the UMSL South Metrolink Platform. *** In court Monday, it was revealed Covington had drugs in his system at the time of arrest and is diagnosed as bipolar and schizophrenic. The prosecutor on the case said she was extremely opposed to the bond reduction, pointing to a number of past convictions. Last May, Covington was convicted of sexual misconduct involving a child under 15, where he was accused of exposing himself to a child. Then, last June, Covington was caught for the first time having sex with a MetroLink seat at the St. Louis Airport terminal. ***

Prosecutors charged two men Wednesday in connection with the deaths of three Kansas City Chiefs football fans found dead more than a year ago outside a Missouri home where they met for a watch party on the final day of the NFL regular season. Jordan Willis, 39, and Ivory Carson, 42, are charged with distribution of a controlled substance and involuntary manslaughter in connection with the deaths of Ricky Johnson, 38, David Harrington, 37, and Clayton McGeeney, 36, who died on Jan. 7, 2024 at a home that Willis rented in Kansas City, according to a statement of probable cause filed by Kansas City police. The case attracted national attention because the fans' cause of deaths were shrouded in mystery. Court records said Wednesday that the men died from toxic effects of fentanyl and cocaine.*** According to The Kansas City Police Department, officers discovered their bodies two days after the men met to watch a Chiefs game against the San Diego Chargers. On the night of the game, temperatures dipped to 29 degrees, the National Weather Service reported. Some 48 hours later, police reported, officers received a call from McGeeney’s fiancée, who said she visited the home after not hearing from him. When no one answered the door, she broke inside and found a dead body in the back of the property. When officers arrived, they also found two other men dead in the backyard.***

You can't disenfranchise her constituents
One party in the Maine legislature has hurt feelings because
Representative Laurel Libby of Maine’s 64th District posted on Facebook that a high school athlete won first place in girls’ pole vaulting at the Class B state championship after having competed the year before in the boys’ event and finishing in a tie for fifth place.***
But just days after Libby’s post, the Maine House speaker and majority leader demanded she take it down. When she refused, the majority leader introduced a censure resolution — to be heard in the House the next day — because Libby’s post had included photos and the first name of the student, who is a minor. Libby sought to defend herself in the hastily called House vote, but was repeatedly cut off. The censure resolution passed 75-70 on a party-line vote. *** When Libby refused to apologize for her protected speech, the House speaker declared she would be barred from speaking on the House floor or voting on any legislation until she capitulated. Thus, the House majority party has precluded Libby from doing her job and effectively disenfranchised her constituents, end-running Maine constitutional provisions that say a representative cannot be expelled absent a two-thirds vote or recall election. These actions are a clear example of retaliation based on constitutionally protected speech and amount to removal of an elected representative essentially because the House majority disagrees with her views or how she chose to express them. Sixty-nine years ago the U.S. Supreme Court held that a state legislature could not refuse to seat a duly elected member because of his public statements about the Vietnam War: “The manifest function of the First Amendment in a representative government requires that legislators be given the widest latitude to express their views on issues of policy.” ***

Feds have custody of Palestinian Columbia University student, Mahmoud Khalil, and they're ready to deport. J. Furman in New York has temporarily enjoined deportation in M.K. v. Joyce, 25-cv-1935 (S.D.N.Y.).
Khalil apparently led anti-Jewish protests at Columbia. Many anti-Jewish protests there resulted in violence and extensive property damage. If all Khalil did was protest, deporting him seems wrong. If he did instigate trespass, violence, or property damage, we're a lot better off without him.

Why do this?
A man acquitted of murder alleges in a civil rights lawsuit filed this week that police in a southern Colorado city framed him after his girlfriend killed herself in 2014. A jury found James “Jimmy” Garcia not guilty of murder in his girlfriend’s death in 2023. Now, Garcia is suing the city of Monte Vista, former Chief of Police John Rosecrans, police officer Michael Martinez, former District Attorney Robert Willett and Rio Grande County coroner Stephen Hunzeker for malicious prosecution and wrongful arrest. “What happened was truly devastating for me,” Garcia said in an emailed statement to The Denver Post on Tuesday. “Being falsely accused caused me immense distress, leaving me deeply depressed and humiliated. … No one should ever have to endure this.” On March 26, 2014, Garcia found his girlfriend, 23-year-old Jacqueline Jones, dead in their bedroom, according to the lawsuit. Her suicide note was later discovered under the blankets of their bed. Jones had a history of depression, self-harm and suicidal ideation, the lawsuit stated. The El Paso County Coroner’s Office, which conducted the autopsy at the request of the Rio Grande Coroner’s Office, said Jones died by suicide and that her death was “deliberate and self-inflicted,” according to the lawsuit. The coroner said there was no evidence she was strangled or otherwise killed by someone else.***
Her mom hired some private experts and convinced police and DA to prosecute him
“Monte Vista’s prosecution of (Garcia) was a shocking abuse of power,” said Mari Newman, one of the man’s attorneys. “Monte Vista police and prosecutors ignored the mountains of objective evidence that his girlfriend had committed suicide, and spent years prosecuting a man they knew had committed no crime. This is truly an example of government at its worst.”***

In a chilling clampdown on free speech, two police officers pay a visit to a grandmother – simply for criticising Labour politicians on Facebook. Detectives were last night accused of acting like East Germany's feared Stasi secret police for quizzing Helen Jones over her calls for the resignation of local councillors embroiled in the WhatsApp scandal exposed by The Mail on Sunday. Police conceded that the 54-year-old had committed no crime – yet Mrs Jones says she has effectively been silenced by the officers, as she was intimidated by them calling at her door and is too terrified to post on social media again.*** It is the latest in a string of incidents in which police have investigated people for social media posts, including newspaper columnist Allison Pearson, feminist writer Julie Bindel, and former policeman Harry Miller, whose name was added to a database for his 'non-crime hate incident'. Mr Miller, who founded the Fair Cop campaign group, said of Mrs Jones's treatment: 'It flies in the face of our freedoms and it's wrong. That's far more akin to a European police force – or even worse a Stasi police force.' The two plain-clothes officers arrived at Mrs Jones's home and demanded to talk to her after she commented on the offensive messages shared in a Labour WhatsApp group that The Mail on Sunday exposed this month. Our story led to the sacking of health minister Andrew Gwynne and the suspension of Burnley MP Oliver Ryan and 11 Labour councillors. Police knocked on her door in Stockport within 48 hours of receiving a complaint, in contrast to how they have responded to other crime reports. Mrs Jones, a school administrator, said police failed to investigate a spate of car thefts in the surrounding streets last year. Greater Manchester Police has one of the highest crime rates in Britain and fails to solve almost three out of four shoplifting incidents. The extraordinary episode took place days after this newspaper revealed how Gwynne, the MP for Gorton and Denton, posted a vile message to Labour colleagues on a WhatsApp group saying he hoped one elderly constituent, who didn't vote for the party, would die before the next election. He made the offensive comment on the 'Trigger Me Timbers' WhatsApp group after the pensioner sent a letter to Stockport Labour councillor David Sedgwick complaining about her bin collections.***
