The X-Men have an anniversary ball and they invite Wade and Logan as honorary guests. Wade is freaking out, he needs to teach Logan how to dance. Cue them trying to awkwardly waltz in the kitchen, knocking stuff over.
Logan: "wade this is ridiculous! I'm not going! And i'm not gonna dance either!"
Wade: "yes you are! You are gonna be the dancing queen, young and sweet, only seventeen!"
Logan: "if you don't stop singing, i will cut my ears off and then your head!"

Assigning songs to fictional characters with little to no explanation because I have no life, the Inheritance Games version
Avery Kylie Grambs: literally almost the whole GUTS (spilled) album
Jameson Hawthorne: I Knew You Were Trouble, logical, traitor, Cruel Summer
(Also, Avery and Jameson are so Wonderland coded. Like, that's THEIR song.)
Grayson Hawthorne: also logical and traitor (we hate you Emily), loml, I Love You, I'm Sorry
Nash Hawthorne: Shake It Off (no because he literally chose this song for Grayson for karaoke and is a Swiftie in cannon), cowboy like me, Hoedown Throwdown
Xander Hawthorne: Never Grow Up, Dancing Queen (I can't explain why but I have a feeling he's a mama mia fan. Don't ask.)
Libby Grambs: You Are In Love, favourite crime

Dancing Queens
Summary: Bucky and Sam are roped into being the plus one’s for good friends of the bride of an Avengers pilot at their wedding. The women’s behaviour at the ceremony prove to be a challenge for the two men.
Length: 5.1 K
Characters: Bucky, Sam, two OFC women (named), OFC /OMC bride and groom.
Warnings: public drunkenness, outrageous behaviour, Bucky and Sam reactions, last hurrah.
Author notes: Yes, this story is based on ABBA music. Some things you don’t outgrow and there’s nothing wrong with that.

It was a simple request made by a support staff member of the Avengers. Troy Chambers, a quinjet pilot who had flown several dicey missions needing hot landings with Bucky and Sam, had invited the two men to attend his wedding and was now asking if they could be the “sort of” plus ones for two friends of his fiancée.
“It’s a weird thing but both of them just broke up with their boyfriends and they were going to cancel out, then Casey saw your names on the confirmed guest list.” He looked at both men, imploring them with his voice and eyes. “She said the breakups really messed with them and they need to know that they’re still, you know, desirable.”
“What exactly are you asking us to do, Troy?” queried Sam, frowning a little as he sat on the weight bench in the training room. “We’re not gigolos or male escorts, you know.”
Bucky said nothing, just kept on doing several bicep curls. Then he placed the weight back into the rack and turned to the anxious pilot.
“What’s in it for us?”
“Well, all you have to do is sit with them in the church and at the reception, talk to them, dance with them.”
“I don’t dance to the music that’s around now,” stated Bucky, firmly.
“We’ll have some older songs for you,” answered Chambers, quickly speaking as if he knew what to say to this objection. “Some classics that you’ll like, some Tony Bennett or Frank Sinatra.”
He winced as Bucky muttered the words, “he was a punk.”
“Look, name your price. I just want Casey to be happy with the wedding and if her two friends are happy, she’ll be thrilled.”
Sam looked at Bucky, who looked back at them; the unspoken communication that the friends had was obviously being shared between them with looks and body language.
“Alright,” said Bucky. “I want two bottles of Macallan scotch.” Chambers nodded. “And, some good cigars. I would ask for Cuban but they’re almost impossible to get unless you know people and I don’t think you do. Dominican will be fine.”
The future groom nodded his head again, then looked at Sam, who breathed in deeply.
“You come work on the boat for a week,” said Sam. “You know engines, right? I’ve seen you working on your car in the garage.”
“Yeah,” replied Chambers, uncertain. “I don’t think a car engine is the same as a boat engine. What will you be doing?”
“Fishing with a rod and reel, drinking beer and smoking some of those Dominican cigars that you’re also getting for Bucky. Don’t worry about the engine. I’ll handle it but for a week I don’t want to be breaking my back hauling in nets. Deal?”
He looked from one man to the other then put his hand out, shaking their hands to seal the agreement. Casey wasn’t going to like that he would have to spend a week with Sam in Louisiana but she did insist he get the two men to look after her friends. Happy wife meant a happy life; at least that’s what he heard.
Three weeks later
Sam and Bucky waited on the steps of the church with Troy, with the latter checking his watch then looking anxiously down the road.
“They’re supposed to be here already,” he moaned. “Casey’s on her way and I can’t be out here when she arrives.” Sam nodded while Bucky looked sideways at him. “You know. It’s bad luck for the bride and groom to see each other on the day of the wedding before the ceremony.”
“Do you have a picture of them?” asked Bucky, wearily, already sorry he had agreed to this.
Troy pulled his cell phone out and flipped through the photo gallery, finding a picture of his fiancée Casey and her two friends, Alicia and Bailey, at their engagement party. The three of them looked completely wasted but were definitely having a good time.
“They called themselves the Dancing Queens when they began high school. That movie Mamma Mia came out that summer and they went to see it at least 10 times. It was their thing. She tried to fit them in as bridesmaids but her sisters and mine kind of called dibs on that honour.”
It was more information than what either Sam or Bucky wanted but they did ask.
“Alright, go on in and we’ll keep on waiting,” said Sam. As soon as Troy was inside the church he nudged Bucky with a grin. “Twenty bucks says they’re pre-gaming already.”
“Fun,” answered his partner. “We’ll be babysitting a pair of drunks.”
More people arrived, some of them known to the pair. After a half dozen instances of explaining why they were still waiting outside the church the two men just gave grim smiles of acknowledgement to anyone else that arrived. The bride’s limousine arrived and they both straightened up a little as Casey was helped out, followed by her eight bridesmaids, two flower girls and her dad. Making eye contact with them, she came up the church steps and raised her eyebrows expectantly.
“They’re not here yet?” Sam shook his head. For a moment, she looked worried, then she smiled anxiously at both of them. “They’re likely going to be late and might be loud. Please, just make sure they don’t go overboard.”
“They’re pre-gaming, aren’t they?” asked Bucky, trying not to show his irritation.
Weakly, Casey gave them a half-smile. “Probably. They weren’t exactly happy that I couldn’t fit them in as bridesmaids. I couldn’t even choose one of them as maid of honour over the other.” She breathed out in frustration. “Troy wanted to get married in Las Vegas and just party. I should have listened to him.” Her dad called to her and she looked at both of them, pressing her free hand on theirs. “Thanks for doing this. I hope they come before the vows are said. On the plus side, you might get lucky.”
They both glared at her, as neither were the type to take advantage of a drunk woman. Neither of them noticed that she didn’t say anything about the two women breaking up with their boyfriends. The bridal party went inside. Soon after they heard the processional music, both of them looking through the open doors and down the aisle to see that Casey had reached the altar. The sound of laughter then a car door slamming drew their attention back to the street. Two women had just left a taxi and were checking each other over. Turning towards the church steps they both stopped and stared at Bucky and Sam. Then they giggled and locked arms, marching up the steps towards them.
“Sorry, we’re late,” said the taller one, offering her hand to Bucky. “I’m Alicia. This is Bailey. We’re Casey’s friends.”
“Yeah,” answered Bucky, curtly. He shook her hand with his, observing how she noticed his gloves. At least she didn’t say anything. “They’ve already started the service. You’ll have to be quiet.”
Bailey smirked then burst out laughing, which set Alicia off. After they had exhausted themselves they both straightened up and assumed innocent faces.
“We’ll try,” said Bailey. “Can’t make any promises. We’ve had a couple of drinks.”
“Yeah, we can tell,” commented Sam, putting his arm out in their direction. “Let’s go.”
She took his arm gleefully, leaving Alicia to Bucky. Grasping his arm she entered the church with him. A space near the back was found for them but the noise of their less than quiet entrance made Casey and Troy turn around. She grinned at her two friends who waved at her and blew her kisses.
“Sit down,” ordered Bucky, in a low voice that got Alicia’s attention.
“Whoa, are you a dom?” She leaned closer. “Do you spank bad girls?”
He glared at her, while several around them did the same, although there were also several grins. Bailey was laughing into her hand and Sam was doing his best to suppress his amusement. Keeping his face forward looking at where the vows were being said, Bucky scowled. Alicia shrugged then sat down and looked towards the front. Within a couple of moments she shifted, then she stood up and adjusted her underwear, while the other people around her ignored her. Bucky frowned at her which made her press her lips together as she suppressed a giggle then sat back down.
“Sorry,” she whispered loudly. “The thong was riding up my ass. It’s between the cheeks now.”
He heard a smirk and looked over to see Sam barely holding it in. The two women were quiet until Bailey suddenly shouted out.
“Put a ring on it, girl!”
Casey giggled, looking back at her friends, while Troy rolled his eyes. Sam wasn’t smiling but he wasn’t exactly frowning either. As he and Bucky made eye contact, he shrugged. What could he do? Gag her?
“How much have you had to drink?” asked Bucky, leaning close to Alicia.
“I don’t know. How much have you had?”
Her tone was playful and sassy. If they were at a noisy party or a bar he might have even played along but she was doing this in a church at a wedding, and he wasn’t feeling the attraction at all.
“Nothing, and even if I did I don’t feel the effects.”
“No shit? Seriously?” She leaned over Sam, tugging Bailey’s dress. “Bucky doesn’t feel the effects of alcohol. You know what that means?”
“Designated driver for life!”
They both exclaimed it loud enough for everyone in the church to hear, turning back with varying degrees of amusement, irritation and plain old bewilderment over how these two were behaving. Bucky, his face burning, stared at Troy, who looked like he was about to be skewered alive. He mouthed the word “sorry” but it didn’t matter. No matter what was agreed upon for Bucky and Sam to take on the duties of being the dates for Alicia and Bailey, the cost had just risen dramatically. Aside from a few muttered comments and an audible burp from Bailey that made both women giggle, they settled down for the remainder of the wedding service. When the couple kissed they stood up, whistling and pumping their fists into the air.
“Way to go, Case!” yelled Alicia. “You did it, girl!”
As the couple went to sign the documents, they all sat down, then Alicia looked from Bucky to Sam and back again.
“So, where are we going before the reception starts?”
“Who says we’re going anywhere?” asked Bucky, coolly.
“Come on, we can do some shots or something. You don’t expect us to just sit around and wait for the doors to open, do you?”
“We can go for a walk.” He looked at her, then at Sam. “Right?”
“I wouldn’t mind some fresh air,” he said, backing Bucky up. “It will help you two get a little sober. Besides, why pay for drinks when there will be an open bar at the reception?”
“He’s right,” agreed Bailey, winking at Alicia. “Do you have a car or are we taking an Uber?”
“I’m driving,” sighed Bucky, as the two girls smiled at each other in that way that good friends do when they know something that others don’t.
The bride and groom came out, were introduced and kissed again, then began the walk down the aisle towards the doors. An ABBA tune, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do accompanied their exit, which both Alicia and Bailey danced to, singing along with it. When they finally got to where the couple were accepting congratulations from the wedding guests, the two women squealed at the sight of Casey, jumping up and down in a flurry of hugs and kisses. Sam and Bucky eyed each other but let it go, although they both stared at Troy who tried to be invisible, but failed spectacularly. Bucky shook his hand, leaning very close to the pilot’s ear, as he kept an iron grip on the appendage.
“You owe us so much more.”
“I know. I’ll make it up to you, I promise.”
Sam’s turn came and he just shook his head at the newlywed, murmuring two words.
“Two weeks.”
“Sure, Sam, whatever it takes,” answered Troy.
The photographer came, wanting the bridal party back inside the church for some photos so Bucky, Sam, Alicia and Bailey headed outside. An aunt of Casey’s saw the two women and approached, making a big fuss over them. She glanced at Sam and Bucky.
“These are your dates?” She winked at the two men. “You’re gonna have so much fun with these two. Casey, Alicia, and Bailey are always the life of the party.”
“Great,” muttered Bucky, smiling wanly at the older woman.
She held a bag of confetti out towards the two men, who shook their heads, then offered some to the two women, who held their hands out for a double handful. When the bridal party came out they doused them with the confetti, almost screaming with excitement as the particles drifted down to the ground. The newlywed couple and the rest of the bridal party crammed into a limo bus, festooned with ribbons and bows. More confetti was thrown until the driver closed the door and pulled away. Alicia and Bailey turned back to Bucky and Sam, fixing a look on the two that gave them each a feeling that more was definitely to come.
“Let’s go have that walk,” said Alicia.
Leading them to his car, Bucky held the front passenger door open for her, as Sam did the same for Bailey. They both got into the back seat, looking innocently at the two men. With a pointed look, Sam closed that door and got into the front with Bucky. Once they were on their way Sam looked back, catching Alicia drinking from a flask. She winked, then offered it to him. Shaking his head he turned back, not saying a word. Puffing out his cheeks as he exhaled he contemplated opening the door at the next red light and getting out. Then he looked at Bucky, knowing he couldn’t do that to his friend. This was a mission now; getting the two women home safely and making sure that he and Bucky got through this coming evening without resorting to something they might regret.
The walk was pleasant enough as the women didn’t bring the flask out. There was a conversation, of sorts. They did learn that the story about breaking up with the boyfriends wasn’t true. Neither woman claimed to know why Troy would say that.
“Well, you did go home with his best friend after the engagement party,” said Bailey. “I heard he has a girlfriend now so maybe in a way you broke up.”
“That must be it,” agreed Alicia. “I can’t see Troy setting us up with Bucky and Sam to keep us away from his friends.” She put her hand over her mouth and giggled. “Not that you two aren’t his friends. I mean his really good friends are the ones in the bridal party. You’re both pretty quiet guys. We’ll get you loosened up once the dance starts.”
“Only if there’s old stuff,” muttered Bucky.
“Like what, Harry Connick, Jr. or Michael Bublé?” Bailey smirked. “How old are you?”
“107, and I’m talking 40s music sung by 40s singers,” he declared. “None of that twerking shit.”
“What about ABBA?” He looked blankly at Alicia. “That song when they came down the aisle was ABBA. We missed the processional and it was probably ABBA. Their first song will definitely be ABBA.”
“What’s your point?” he asked, his voice edgy.
“Well, we dance to a lot of songs but ABBA is what the three of us love. We are the Dancing Queens.” He looked blankly at Sam, who shrugged. “He doesn’t know ABBA?” She and Bailey grimaced at each other. “Has no one thought to expose you to ABBA?”
“We’re getting there,” said Sam. “He did the 50s and likes Elvis, then the 60s and likes the Beatles, Motown ….” Bucky glared at him. “What? You’ve barely looked at anything after the 60s, except for those who sing the old classics.”
“They’re classics for a reason.” He looked at his watch. “Let’s go. The reception starts in 15 minutes. I need a drink.”
“I thought you said you didn’t drink,” said Alicia.
“No, I said it doesn’t affect me, except for Asgardian mead and I doubt that Troy has some for the wedding because that stuff is deadly for regular humans. I like scotch and beer. I just don’t get a buzz from it because my metabolism burns it off immediately.”
“That’s terrible,” she said, hurrying a little to catch up to him as he turned towards the car. “When’s the last time you got hammered?”
He sighed. “1943. Happy?” She stopped walking. He turned back to look at her, noticing she seemed about to cry. “What?”
“Why are you angry at me?”
“I’m not!” he replied loudly, making her frown. Taking several breaths, he calmed down. “I’m not angry at you. Perturbed and irritated at your behaviour, maybe a little disappointed with how this day is working out, but I’m not angry. I’m sorry that I raised my voice.”
Bailey approached and comforted her friend as Sam stood with Bucky. These two women were definitely not like the usual women they went out with. They both wondered if these women were like this all the time. Casey wasn’t. She was a nurse with a lot of responsibility and all of their exposure to her had left them impressed with her steady nature. That she was best friends with these two capricious women was hard for them to understand. Alicia and Bailey stood side by side, appearing proud and confident.
“This wedding is the last hurrah for the Dancing Queens,” announced Alicia. “We always knew that when one of us got married it meant that she was ready to settle down, and maybe start a family. We promised each other that when that happened we would have a last blowout marking that we were finally grown up. Today is that day. I’m sorry that you got stuck with us but Casey and Troy were just trying to make sure that we weren’t with anyone who would take advantage of us. Troy said you two are gentlemen and he trusted you with making sure we got home safely. You can just drop us off at the reception and we’ll take care of ourselves. You don’t have to babysit us.”
“Shit,” murmured Sam, turning towards Bucky.
“I know,” answered the super-soldier. He looked at Alicia and then Bailey, admitting to himself that he was seeing them in a different light. “We’ll stay with you, dance with you, and make sure you get home safely. You have the fun you were planning on having. We’re okay with it. Really.”
He added that for emphasis, then rubbed the back of his neck, waiting for their decision. The two women looked at each other in a manner that confirmed how close they were; communicating nonverbally in their way just as Sam and Bucky did in theirs. With a squeeze of each other’s hands they nodded and turned back to the two men.
“Okay. We’ll try not to be so obnoxious or over the top. We really do just want to have fun and it’s so much better if you just have fun with us.”
“We’ll try too, right Bucky?” Sam looked meaningfully at him.
“Right.” He put his hand out to Alicia. “Come on.”
She took his gloved right hand, then stopped and gestured to it.
“Can I see your hands, please? Both of them?”
He sighed, then removed his gloves. She switched sides and held his left hand, pulling him towards the car. By the time they got to it, holding ungloved hands with her didn’t feel so odd. This time Alicia sat in the front with Bucky, while Bailey stayed in the back seat, next to Sam.
On their arrival at the reception hall, there was a little cheer from the others who knew the two women and several hugs were shared. When the doors opened they headed to the bar where Alicia and Bailey ordered the Dancing Queen signature drink, a pretty pink cocktail made with vodka, lime juice, Falernum liqueur, and blackberry syrup with some orange bitters. Bucky got his scotch, while Sam got a beer. They headed to the outdoor terrace, taking in the view. When they were called to be seated for the arrival of the bridal party they sought out their table, where Bailey and Alicia introduced the two men to the others who knew Casey and Troy from high school or college.
After the meal there were speeches that garnered loud responses from several people at the reception, not just Alicia and Bailey. It was all good natured and Bucky found himself enjoying it. Sam was engaging, as he always was. Finally, the time came for the dance to start and just like Alicia said, the first dance for the newlywed couple was an ABBA tune, Lay All Your Love on Me. It was a fast tempo for a first dance but it obviously had meaning for the couple as they danced it expertly, even as those who knew them best, like Alicia and Bailey, sang along to it. The next songs weren’t ABBA ones but they fit for the father / daughter dance, then the mother / son dance. The dance to get everyone on the dance floor was another ABBA tune, Super Trouper, that Bucky tried to beg off of but Alicia pouted and batted her eyelashes at him. She held his hands as they danced, encouraging him, laughing as he twirled her expertly, then easily lifted her several times, to her great joy. They sat back at the table briefly to sip their drinks during the next song.
“Do you know how to swing dance?” Alicia asked Bucky. He nodded, his eyes sparkling enough that she laughed. “Oh, we are so going to swing dance and you have to do the lifts and throw me.”
“I might hurt you,” he replied.
“I was a cheerleader as an undergrad and took dancing for years until I got too busy,” she answered. “I can handle it.”
She left for a moment, coming back with a mischievous grin on her face. When the DJ announced a special request for Glenn Miller’s In the Mood she put her hand out to Bucky. The others at the table clapped their hands so he got up, took his jacket off, and walked her to the dance floor which was fairly empty. She wasn’t kidding that she could handle it and the pair didn’t disappoint, drawing a crowd as people left their tables for a better view of the swing dancing couple. Even Sam laughed as he watched his friend dance like it was 1943. The next song, a Smokey Robinson one, had him and Bailey staying on the dance floor.
As Bucky and Alicia walked back to the table, receiving accolades from the others, he realized that he should be feeling some anxiety right now with the attention being given to him. But he didn’t, instead he felt a glow inside, like something long dormant had awakened within him. Watching Sam and Bailey dance, he looked to Alicia, a kernel of a thought building in his head.
“Were you two supposed to show us a good time?” He checked himself, knowing how that sounded. “You know what I mean. I’m the guy who usually sits at the table, drinking alone and watching. Sam is more sociable but he’s in a bit of a dry spell right now.”
Alicia smiled mysteriously, then stood up and put herself on his lap, surprising Bucky. His hand automatically reached around her waist to steady her.
“I think we were all maneuvered into being together.” She looked fondly at Bailey, then sought out where Casey and Troy were animatedly talking to some others. Turning her attention back to Bucky, she put her drink down, then fixed a serious gaze on him. “I’m in medical research, often working 12 – 14 hours a day. Bailey is head of HR for a Fortune 500 company, a big responsibility for a 31 year old woman. Our lives are stressful so we cut loose when we can. Casey worries about us not having time for a social life. She found her prince and I think she was hoping that you and Sam could be our princes. We know it’s not that simple and we didn’t do ourselves any favours showing up half plastered at the church. But you are a diamond in the rough, Bucky, and I’d be lying if I didn’t admit that I’ve wanted to meet you for some time. You’re an introvert and you need an understanding extrovert to balance that.” She shrugged. “If you’re up to it, I’m your girl.”
Stunned wasn’t quite the description of how Bucky felt at that moment. It was true that he regretted agreeing to coming to the wedding, and when Troy talked him and Sam into being the plus ones for these two women, he had shamefully asked for something in return. Their behaviour at the church had been shocking to him, but he had also noticed that neither Casey nor Troy seemed surprised or angry with the pair. Neither had anyone in their group of friends and family. It was as Casey’s aunt said; they were the life of the party. As long as it wasn’t a party all the time, he could have fun with Alicia, like he was at this moment.
“How sober are you, right now?” he asked.
“Quite,” she said. “I’ve only had two of the cocktails since we arrived. I’ll probably have one more and call it a night. I’ve stayed hydrated and I know my way home from here.” She leaned closer. “We put on a good show.”
“Come with me.”
She slid off his lap, then followed as he took her hand and led her out to the terrace, looking for a quieter spot. The music was still audible and they also had more privacy when he finally found the right place. Standing in front of her, Bucky held both of her hands. Other than asking to see his hands she had said nothing about them. There had been no hesitation in touching him. She was attractive and he had already noticed that both she and Bailey had cut back on the alcohol. Would it be so bad to become involved with someone who could draw him out of his normal reserved self? He had definitely enjoyed dancing with her. Alicia was smiling at him now.
“Trying to make up your mind about whether there’s enough to try me on for size?”
He laughed at how she put it.
“Something like that.”
“Maybe you just need more data to help you decide,” she suggested. “You could kiss me.”
“I was thinking that might be my next move.” He tugged lightly on her hands, bringing her closer, then moving one hand to her waist and the other to her upper arm. “How am I doing so far?”
“Pretty good. I like it when a man touches my cheek, runs his hand into my hair, then gets in close enough so that I can feel his breath on me.”
He did as she described, then nuzzled gently against the side of her head, breathing near her ear.
“Like this?” he whispered.
“Yeah.” Her breath caught for a moment. “Just like that.”
Turning her face so that his lips were right beside hers she gazed at him, her eyes dark in the muted light of the terrace. Bringing her body right up against his, Bucky brushed his lips against hers, noting that she opened her mouth slightly. As they pressed their lips together, she brought her hands up to his chest, grasping at his shirt, then extended one of them over his shoulder to the back of his neck. She flexed her hand over the nape of his neck while their kiss deepened; tongues gently tangling together in a way that resonated deeply within them. Slowly lessening the pressure, they ended the kiss, although Bucky’s lips lingered close enough to brush against hers again.
“I need more data,” he whispered.
“I agree,” she whispered back.
“Here you are … oh, sorry.” It was Casey. She was joined by Bailey, Sam and Troy. “We can come back, Alicia.”
They pulled apart a little more, not enough to be out of each other’s arms.
“It’s okay. I told him the truth.” She looked at her friends. “He’s not angry.” She noticed lipstick on his lips, using her thumb to wipe it away. “At least, I don’t think he is.”
The sounds of Dancing Queens reached them and the three women laughed then began gyrating to the music, as if a switch had turned them on. Their bodies were silhouetted against the twilight sky as they sang and danced in the warm summer air. It was like watching joy come to life in front of them.
“They’re unstoppable,” said Troy. “I knew when I first started dating Casey that every time these three are together this is what happens.” He faced Bucky and Sam. “I’m sorry I lied about them. I owe you guys so much for keeping them company.”
“No, you owe us nothing,” answered Bucky, while Sam nodded his head in agreement. “I haven’t danced like that since 1943 and it felt great.” He looked at the three dancing women again, who didn’t care if the men joined them or not. They were doing their own thing without caring about the judgement of others, and he liked that, a lot. “Lie to us again and I’ll throw you out of the quinjet without a parachute.”
He said it with a smile and a wink, which Troy laughed at, then swallowed and nodded his head, considering that Bucky might not be joking. The three men watched the three women dancing until the song ended, then held out their hands to their partners, returning inside. Dancing Queens was played several times that night, as tribute to the end of an era and the beginnings of a new one. The final time it was played everyone was on the dance floor, including Bucky and Sam.

I wanted to post this on my Instagram story as a second part to me saying that 'It has come to my attention that I have two obsessions, and I will be doing exacly nothing about it' and I wanted to put Dancing Queen by ABBA as the music because... it's ABBA (and they are all queens), but it won't upload it. So I'm putting it here instead. Where none of my friends will see it. We'll apart from one, but I think she is ignoring me. For good reason so it's okay.

summary: summer with theo in his hometown in Italy.
a/n: so umm.... first fic! super sigma! anyway sorry for any mistakes I make, English is not my first language. also I know the song is about heroin but who cares lol
warnings: fem! reader, reader wears more feminine clothes, not proofread.
⋆˚꩜。⋆˚꩜。⋆˚꩜。⋆˚꩜。⋆˚꩜。⋆˚꩜。⋆˚꩜。⋆˚꩜。⋆˚꩜。⋆˚꩜。⋆˚꩜。⋆˚꩜
in a small town in northern italy. june 15th, 1983. 1:31 p.m.
you and theo were walking in his hometown, after eating lunch. it was a hot day, with a cloudless sky. you had abandoned your leather jacket with pansy back at the café. as it was a hot day, you'd decided to wear your notoriously short shorts and a red top with a Queen Anne neckline. as you yapped his ear off, he only nodded and grunted here and there.
but there was only one thing on his mind; how pretty you looked. the way your shorts accentuated your hips, the way your top made your eyes stand out. you were so effortlessly beautiful, even when you were talking about margherita pizza.
"and this place, it's so serene-" he was barely listening. his mind was filked with thoughts of pure adoration for you.
how did he get so lucky?
11:21 p.m.
pansy and astoria had insisted on going clubbing that night, so off they went to the nearest club. it turned out to be a big, booming club with neon lights and strong drinks. you giggled as theo spun you around. you were already a bit tipsy, as you'd taken shots with daphne. your face was a bit flushed.
"tesoro," he muttered in your ear, "I've got an idea."
"oh, pretty boy's thinking. that can't be good."
he ignored your jab and said, "how about going skinny dipping?"
⋆˚꩜。⋆˚꩜。⋆˚꩜。⋆˚꩜。⋆˚꩜。⋆˚꩜。⋆˚꩜。⋆˚꩜。⋆˚꩜。⋆˚꩜。⋆˚꩜。⋆˚꩜
and so, somehow, you found yourself in your underwear, swimming in startlingly blue water. although, you weren't complaining. it was relieving your hot, flushed skin. nearby, blaise and pansy were arguing about which ABBA song was best. you suddenly felt arms around your waist.
"hello, amore," he whispered in your ear.
"teddy!" you rolled your eyes, "you frightened me."
"sorry," he said, although there was no real remorse in his voice.
he hoisted you up, and to your shock, started carrying you further towards the ocean. once you'd reached there, you looked at him, expecting an explanation. but before you could even open your mouth, he had pulled you into the water. in there, you stared at him in bemusement, and then..... he kissed you.
right there. under the sea. it felt.... nice?
he pulled both your heads out of the water, then smirked. "I have wanted to do that for so long, bambola. it's been on my bucket list."
you blinked. then kissed him again. this time, not under the water.
12:35 a.m.
all of you were walking back to the hotel. you were holding on to theo's arm, as you were quite drowsy.
"I want to stay here forever," you mumbled quietly to theo.
"oh, tesoro," he cooed. but he knew what he had to do.
once you two would get married, once he put a ring on your finger, he'd immediately move you two to this town. he'd raise his children here. teach them the traditions.
and you all would be happy.
⋆˚꩜。⋆˚꩜。⋆˚꩜。⋆˚꩜。⋆˚꩜。⋆˚꩜。⋆˚꩜。⋆˚꩜。⋆˚꩜。⋆˚꩜。⋆˚꩜。⋆˚꩜
a/n: this was super fluffy honestly. hope you enjoyed!

♡⊹˚₊ Dancing Queen ₊˚⊹♡
Pairing: Main!Mark Grayson x f!Reader
Warnings: None
Genres: Fluff
Word Count: 412
Synopsis: It’s senior prom, Mark is NOT feeling the vibe, but seeing you changes the whole game
Inspiration: “Dancing Queen” by ABBA, obvi 💅
a/n: song came on shuffle, thought of my boy, had to write it
Mark Grayson had never been a dancer. His mother used to tease him, saying he had “two left feet”. School dances were something he would normally skip, but this was his senior prom, and Amber had insisted they go together. Yet somehow here he was, stood off to the side of the gym alone while his partner mingled with friends.
The lights flashed in rhythm with the music, casting a surreal glow over the sea of moving bodies. Prom was supposed to be fun, a night to let loose, but all he could think about was how out of place he felt. His eyes scanned the crowd, trying to find something to focus on.
Then he saw you.
You were moving like you were made of light, your feet barely seeming to touch the ground as you danced, every movement smooth and fluid. The way you spun under the glittering lights, your laughter ringing through the music—there was a brilliance about you that made everything else seem dim. Mark felt his breath catch in his throat, his heart stumbling in a way he couldn’t explain. It was like the entire world around him suddenly faded, leaving only you, glowing and untouchable in the center of it all.
He swallowed, his throat dry as his eyes locked onto yours for a split second. Time felt like it stopped. His mind buzzed, trying to catch up to the fact that he was staring, completely mesmerized. Who are you? he thought, a silent whisper to himself. How had he never seen you before when now, in that moment, he couldn't look away. You weren’t just dancing—you were floating, like a dream that had materialized right in front of him.
The music swirled around him, distant and faint, as Mark stood there, rooted to the spot, watching you. He couldn’t bring himself to move, couldn’t even blink, not wanting to miss a single second of the ethereal beauty before him. His chest tightened, his heart speeding up. Everything about you felt otherworldly, like you didn’t belong in this high school gym—like you were too perfect, too radiant for this world.
And as you laughed again, a spark of something flickered in his chest. For the first time that night, Mark was certain of one thing: you were all he could see, and he really didn’t mind being lost in you.

Putellas Jr. Headcanons.
Couple: Mapi León x Putellas!Reader
(Reader will be called Alondra )
Au!Omegaverse. Alpha x Alpha
Word count: 2.7k
Warnings: None, just that English is not my first language, so I'm sorry if there are any mistakes.
Enjoy~
Tumblr media
PERSONAL LIFE. FRIENDSHIPS, FAMILY.
Alondra Putellas Segura (1999) is an alpha.
Her name was chosen by her father.
Younger sister of Alexia Putellas (1994) and Alba Putellas (1997).
When Alondra grew up she had problems with her scent glands because they did not develop correctly, which ended up affecting her scent. She has a sweeter scent, an aroma not characteristic of an alpha and characteristic of an omega, which is why she was often mistaken for one.
Her scent is sweet, warm, with a touch of vanilla and soft wood.
She followed in the footsteps of her older sister and became a professional soccer player.
She is good at learning languages. The longest it has taken her to learn a new language was 6-7 months.
“My mission in life is to annoy Alexia, to make her feel alive”
She has her group of friends outside the world of football. Matthew and Danielle are Omegas, Jackson and Eric are Alphas. Also Jackson and Danielle are siblings.
Alondra is a hyperactive person, she can’t stay still and some people on the staff suspect she has an attention deficit.
She shares tattoos with her sisters.
When she is nervous, she plays with her ring or the lace of her shorts.
She is a friend of Kerstin Casparij (she has a very similar personality), Jill Roord and Viv miedema. As a joke, they said that Alondra was Dutch in another life.
Even though she is no longer a Young Alpha, she is still treated like a puppy by Alexia, Irene, Kim, Marta and Jenni.
She is the queen of practical jokes in the locker room. No one is safe, not even Alexia or the coaches.
She has the most chaotic relationship with Alba. They love each other, but they can also argue over the silliest thing and the next minute be cuddling on the couch.
She likes to annoy Lucy and if it were an Olympic sport, Alondra would have already won the Gold medal.
She can fall asleep anywhere. On the bus, in the locker room, on the plane and in any uncomfortable place you can imagine.
Her playlist is absolute chaos. You can find everything from reggaeton to alternative rock and the occasional ABBA song.
She always has gum in her backpack.
She prefers WhatsApp audios to text messages because she's too lazy to write.
She's always the last to leave the locker room because she'll keep talking or bothering someone.
She's the typical one who comes in with the music at full volume without headphones, forcing everyone to listen to her chaotic playlist.
She's the only one who can annoy Alexia without serious consequences. Anyone else tries and gets the death stare.
Alba, Olga and her have a WhatsApp chat just to complain about Alexia when she goes into 'intense older sister' mode.
When she's with her mom, she automatically becomes calmer and sweeter. It's like her chaos off button.
When she was younger and Alexia was dating, she interrupted in the most annoying way possible.
At Christmas, she's always the one in charge of making the funniest (and sometimes ridiculous) gifts.
She's the one who sends memes at any time of the day without context.
When she gets obsessed with a series, she won't stop until she's watched it all in a couple of days.
She likes to play video games, but only sports or racing ones because she doesn't have the patience for history ones.
If she finds something she likes (a dessert, a song, a restaurant), she'll repeat it until she's tired.
If she's bored, she starts throwing things in the air just to see if she can catch them with her feet or head.
She wears her sweatpants really low just to piss Alexia off.
She has an obsession with rings and always wears at least one.
She sometimes paints her nails black or dark colors, but she bites them when she's nervous.
Sarcasm is her second language, and she even uses it in interviews.
She talks a mile a minute when she's excited and the only one who can stop her is Alexia with a "Alondra, breathe."
Alexia still can't get over her going out with Mapi, every time she sees them together she makes a face of "how did this happen."
When she comes home, she hangs on to Alexia as if she were still a puppy.
Every time she visits home, Alba and Alexia check her new tattoos to see if they're "suitable" after having joked that the next tattoo she would get would be something related to Real Madrid (she would never be able to get a tattoo about RM) (She hates RM with all her soul).
In her teens, when her hormones were at their peak, she suffered from not being able to impose her presence with her scent like the other Alphas. So she developed a confident and defiant body language to compensate.
Although she doesn't have a strong scent, her Alpha instincts are still there. She is extremely protective of her own, but she masks it with pranks and chaos.
With Alba, she is the typical Alpha sister who teases her younger Omega, but if someone treats her badly, she lets out a low growl that makes anyone back off
With her mother, her bark or Alpha disappears. The only person in the world who can make her sit and eat quietly without a fight.
She is clingy with the people she loves. If she is confident with someone, she will hug them by the neck or lean on you without giving you a choice.
Nothing like the typical Alpha. This makes some Omegas feel comfortable with her immediately, without noticing her dominant presence.
Many Alphas tried to mark her unconsciously because her scent awakened protective instincts in them. The habit did not last long after Alondra brushed them off with a challenging look.
Growing up as an Alpha but with a scent that did not match caused her many doubts in her adolescence. She did not feel completely Alpha or completely Omega.
The media and some fans have been speculating for years about her dynamic as an Alpha. Many believe that she is an Omega who identifies as an Alpha. Alondra does not care.
Alondra's dick size varies between 19 to 23 centimeters, while Mapi's varies between 17 to 20 centimeters.
PROFESSIONAL LIFE.
She studied and started playing at La Masia as a forward, where in 2015 she had the opportunity to move up to the first team and debut alongside her sister in the same team.
In 2016 Arsenal set their sights on her and decided to sign her, there was a conflict between Barcelona and Arsenal, since the first team did not want to lose Alondra completely and Arsenal did not want to accept her on loan. Finally, an agreement was reached and Alondra left as a new signing for Arsenal.
In 2019, Alondra was close to winning a Ballon d'Or, finishing in second place.
Number 11 in the first years at Arsenal. First season in Barcelona, she wears number 18 and after Lucy's departure, she takes over number 15.
Arsenal: 2016-2017 to 2021-2022.
Barcelona: 2022-2023 to the present.
Alondra was part of the Spanish senior team between 2018-2022, being part of the 15 movement.
Getting to know the English team in her first year playing in London and in the first international break, thanks to Leah and Chloe who introduced her at a camp. (Alondra did not want to return to Spain and preferred to stay in London as she had a silly argument with Alba and pride was stronger).
Then very close to all the other English girls.
When she gets angry in games she usually shouts rude things in Catalan, or when she wants to bother in the locker room.
Yellow card duo with Katie McCabe.
In 2022 she decided to leave Arsenal and return to Barcelona. They are the only teams she has played for. The reasons for leaving were due to internal problems she had at the club.
CHELSEA'S HATER N°1
Who gives the most content on social media (team and personal)
At Arsenal, she and Katie McCabe had an unofficial competition of who could receive the most yellow cards without being sent off.
Leah and Chloe consider her their ‘Spanish troublemaker’ and take her everywhere when she is in London.
In the national team, Jenni Hermoso was her ally in mischief.
She always wears the same cleats when she plays an important match. She is superstitious about it.
Has a friendly rivalry with Patri Guijarro at Barça. They are always competing in training.
The terror of the alphas of other teams because she never stops provoking on the pitch.
Can turn anything into a challenge, from who gets to the locker room first to who hits the crossbar the most times.
Always has energy to spare, she is the typical one who wants to keep running in training when everyone is dead.
She is the terror of the medical staff, because she hates staying still when she is injured. Since her scent is not typical of an Alpha, she sometimes confuses others about her rank. This has been a problem on the court, where some rival Alphas underestimate her…
She grew up with a certain complex about her scent, especially when she was younger and other Alphas looked at her strangely for not smelling "correctly." But over time she learned to use it to her advantage, especially in provocations.
With the Omegas on her team she has a very marked relationship: she bothers them all the time, but if someone makes them feel uncomfortable, she completely changes and becomes threatening.
She does not mark everyone with bites, but she leaves "her mark" in other ways: hugs with a lot of physical contact, rubbing her head against her teammates' or biting their wrist when celebrating a goal.
In important games, her Alpha instinct is triggered. She plays more aggressively and her team uses her as a "territory marker."
If a rival Alpha tries to intimidate an Omega on her team, she is the first to intervene. Especially if it's Patri or one of her Omega friends.
In the locker room, she lays on top of her fellow Omegas without warning. "So they smell like the pack," she says.
She doesn't like being seen as a "weak" Alpha because of her scent, so she's one of the first to jump into verbal fights with rival Alphas.
Her scent may be sweeter, but when someone irritates her, it becomes stronger. In a match against Chelsea, her scent changed so much that Leah asked her if she was okay.
Some Alphas taunted her by saying that her scent made her "less Alpha." Katie McCabe was one of the few who told her to her face that "a real Alpha doesn't need a strong scent to get noticed." From that moment on, they became inseparable.
When she arrived at Barça, Patri and Aitana also doubted her Alpha presence... until they saw her play. Now Patri calls her "the infiltrated Alpha."
In the locker room, she sits between the Omegas because she likes the warmth of her presence. At Arsenal, her place was always between Leah and Viv.
On the national team, Irene Paredes spent half of the training camp reminding the others that, despite her deceptive scent, Alondra was an Alpha.
When she is upset or in the middle of a competition, her scent changes and becomes more spicy, with a slight hint of clove. It is the only time she imposes herself as a traditional Alpha.
In the locker room, she was often asked to calm panicked Omegas because her scent calmed them more than that of the other Alphas.
She always felt that she had to prove more than any other Alpha to be recognized as such. In every match, she played as if she had something to prove.
At Arsenal, some new Alphas doubted her presence until they saw her train. One time, a new Alpha commented that Alondra “looked like an Omega with too much energy.” Kim Little replied: “Tell her that on the pitch and see if you still think the same.”
Despite her soft scent, her Alpha instinct is immediately activated when she senses danger for her pack. If an Omega on her team is attacked on the pitch, Alondra is the first to arrive with a defiant smile and her body ready to defend.
Although she is an Alpha, in the Arsenal pack she would often curl up between Leah and Viv, as if she were another Omega.
RELATIONSHIP WITH MAPI.
They started dating Mapi in 2018.
When Alexia found out she wanted to hang Maria.
Designed some of Mapi's tattoos, but she has also suggested some absurd ones just to annoy her.
Shares a tattoo with Mapi. (Looks can be deceiving)
She has a list of tattoos she wants to get but can't decide because Mapi always convinces her to wait.
She doesn't obsess over couple marks like other Alphas, but she does obsess over couple scents. Mapi always ends up smelling like her because Alondra hugs her by the neck and hides her against her chest after games.
She knows that her bite isn't as strong as other Alphas, which made her insecure at first. She thought she'd never be able to properly mark her mate. But Mapi reassured her by telling her that, if she wanted to, she'd bite her until the venom was gone.
When Mapi is in heat, Alondra doesn't leave her alone for a second. If anyone gets too close to her, even her own teammates, her inner Alpha wakes up and automatically growls.
At first, she was afraid that she wasn't "Alpha enough" for Mapi. But Mapi took it upon herself to show her that it didn't matter.
Mapi sometimes bites her just for fun, but when Alondra does it, she does it with intent.
Mapi loves to see her in her clothes, especially her old t-shirts. It's her way of "marking" her without needing a bite.
One time, Alexia found them cuddling after a game, and her Alpha got so activated that she was in a bad mood all day.
When she first met Mapi, she thought she would be one of those who wouldn't take her seriously as an alpha. But Mapi sniffed her once, smiled, and said, "You're different. I like it." From then on, Alondra knew Mapi was her person.
Mapi loves her scent. She says it's "gently addictive," especially after workouts, when sweat intensifies it.
When they sleep together, Mapi clings to her shirt or collar, as if Alondra's scent relaxes her.
Sometimes when Mapi is in heat, Alondra feels like her Alpha instinct isn't enough. But Mapi always reassures her with a look, reminding her that it's not the scent that defines her, but who she is.
When Alondra is in heat, Mapi becomes much more territorial than usual. She's not aggressive, but her body language changes completely: she stays close, with her hand on Alondra's back or an arm over her shoulder. Her scent also intensifies and becomes thicker, like a silent warning.
Although she is not the type of Alpha who seeks to mark all the time, with Alondra, it is different. She does not mind if another Alpha approaches her partner, but she always makes it clear who owns the territory. She loves that Alondra smells her after training.
First I want to give credit to @insomniakisses who gave me the idea to do this and helped me with many things

𝐋𝐈𝐊𝐄 𝐌𝐘 𝐅𝐀𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑 ⎯ Carl Grimes
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
WARNINGS! ⎯ there are none! Just pure fluff! SUMMARY ⎯ Your father, Daryl Dixon, always treated your mother like a queen before she died; now you want someone to do the same, and who better than your best friend, Carl Grimes. A/N ⎯ This is based on the song 'Like My Father' by Jax. I also want to thank everyone who LOVED my Carl Grimes x Gothic reader so much! I love you all!
For as long as you could remember; your father treated your mother like a goddess, like a queen.
Whatever she wanted, she got. whatever she asked for, she got. There were never any ifs or buts about it. Your dad worshipped the ground she walked and treasured her like any man should do a woman.
As you got older, you watched your father do everything he could for your mother. He would constantly have dinner dates with her, and take her on romantic walks in the middle of the night when they thought you were asleep. This never changed when your mom got cancer and started doing chemo.
Your father shaved his own head with her so she wouldn't be alone, held her hand during every treatment, and watched her throw up blood until her last dying breath.
Your mother died before the world went to shit so there you were, sitting at the query watching other kids play with their moms and dads, silently resenting them for having both. Your mother was dead and your dad was cold and couldn't care what you did anymore because he was still grieving the loss of his wife.
That was when that changed; a little boy walked up to you and practically forced you to play with him. You would learn that his name was Carl and he too lost his dad but of course, we all know how that went.
Eventually, you and Carl became best friends; going and growing through hell together. You both survived through so much and yet you helped him look on the brighter side of life.
Over time, as you two grew older, the two of you slowly fell in love with one another but never said a thing because one- you're either running from the dead, and two- neither one of you thought you liked each other back.
But one thing was for certain; you wanted a man who loves you like you're father loved your mom.
It was like any other day for you and Carl. You both sat in your bedroom reading comic books, the soft sound of Johnny Cash playing in the background filling your ears.
You looked over at the Grimes boy, looking over the handsome features you've grown to love over the last few years; to his long shaggy hair, his beat-up cowboy hat, and his missing eye something he was very insecure of but you thought was badass.
Before he could catch your gaze though, you looked down and the record stopped playing which made the both of you groan. "Great. Now one of us has to get up and flip it over." You whined, crossing your arms over your chest and looking at the record player in your room.
Carl sighed and pushed himself off the ground, walking over to the record playing and taking the record off. "What are you doing?" You asked, looking at him with a raised eyebrow. Carl smiled and turned to you. "Putting on Abba. I thought Dancing Queen was your favorite and you want to listen to it?" He spoke and he wasn't entirely wrong.
"I do but I thought you wanted to listen to Johnny Cash?" You spoke softly and Carl just rolled his eye and turned to face you. "Does it matter what I want?" He spoke before turning to face the record player and placing the needle on the record, the song Dancing Queen filling the room as he made his way and sat back down next to you.
That day you knew that Carl was the type you wanted, the type you knew would love you like your father did to your mom.
So, you contemplated forever, debating on telling him how you felt but when you did; you wrote him a nice simple letter and left it on the inside of his hat. It took him a while but he finally found it, looking at it with confusion while the words "read me cowboy" jumped out at him in all capital letters.
He knew it was from you because only you called him cowboy and only you would do something like leaving a letter on the inside of his hat.
So, he read it as instructed and he became over the moon because not only did you tell him how you felt but you actually liked him back.
Carl rushed out of the house to look for you, going to all the places he knew you would be. He went to Rosita, to Maggie and Glenn's place because you loved playing with Herschal Jr before finally finding you training with Jesus.
"Looks like you're boyfriend is here" Jesus joked which made you roll your eyes and flip him off as you made your way over to Carl. "Hey cowboy" You spoke with a teasing smirk but your smirk was wiped clean off your face when he held up the letter.
"Are you telling the truth?" He asked, needing reassurance like he always did when he was unsure of something. You gave him a small smile and nodded your head. "Yes. Why would I lie to you of all people?" You asked and before you could say anything else, his lips were pressed against yours.
As the two of you kissed, your hand moved to the back of his neck while his hands moved to your waist. After a minute, the two of you pulled apart and he pressed his forehead against yours.
"You don't know how long I wanted to do that" He whispered against your lips and you giggled, moving to play with the soft locks of his hair. "It's about damn time, cowboy" You spoke back and he immediately pressed his lips against yours, capturing your lips in a searing kiss.
Ever since then, he truly loved you like your father did your mom and maybe even more than he ever did.

thank you all for your love and support!! it genuinely means so, so much to me and i could not be more grateful. watching mamma mia! for the first time honestly really inspired me and i've loved ABBA for a while now already, and i thought it'd be fun to make bots inspired by the songs!! (and yes there are like 3 or 4 songs not included, i know)
i decided to do them split up based on the fandoms i am apart of, because the songs (i feel) are versatile and I don't think that there are characters from a single movie/show that would be able to be used for every song. i would've loved to do abba/mamma mia x challengers, but not every song can be applied to tashi, art, and patrick, which is why i did characters from different movies/shows :)
and i do need to give some credit to @voidsuites because really, maya did it first with her brat x challengers bots (which you should go check out/use if for some reason you haven't yet).

Ask me to stay
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Peter Maximoff x fem!mutant!reader
Summary: Peter stays by your side, bringing comfort, teasing, and a love that feels like home
Warnings: fluffy, light teasing, emotional comfort, mild suggestive language, established relationship, hurt&comfort
A/N: This was my first request and I was so excited! I hope you like it (and damn, I'm head over heels in love with it)
Tumblr media
It was hard to explain how someone like Peter had become the most important person in your life. He was a force of nature: fast, unpredictable, and impossible to ignore. From the day you met, he had never seemed afraid of you.
No, in fact, he found your power fascinating. It was strange, honestly, especially after spending years surrounded by people who feared to hear your voice. Your parents always suspected, but it wasn’t until your ninth birthday, when you showed up with a brand-new BMW in front of the house – just a simple request and the salesman himself drove the car over – that they knew their little girl was not like the other kids.
“You have a voice that can make anyone do whatever you want? What kind of comic book villain are you?” he teased at your first meeting, a mischievous grin spreading across his face as he leaned in closer, his dark eyes shining with curiosity.
“I’m not a villain, Peter,” you replied, crossing your arms in mock indignation.
“Oh, sure, Miss ‘do as I say.’ And I’m Captain America.” He shrugged, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. “If it were me, I’d make people bring me food all the time. Or let me win at Pong.”
“You don’t even need help with that, cheater.”
He laughed, tilting his head to the side as if about to respond, but instead, just looked at you for a few seconds. “I think that’s what I like about you,” he said suddenly, the tone surprisingly serious. “You stand up to me. It’s cool.”
You tried to hide the heat rising to your cheeks, but something in that moment stayed with you. Peter never looked at you like someone dangerous or different. To him, you were just… you.
And he never changed.
The years passed, and Peter continued to be the same boy who was impossible to keep up with. He spoke too fast, thoughts racing faster than his words, and loved to tease you.
“Are you really going to pretend you didn’t hear me?” he said, leaning against the doorframe, holding a Twinkie like it was a prize. “I know you’re in there. I’m going to count to three… One… Two—”
“Peter, if you annoy me, I swear I’ll make you leave here singing Abba in the square.” You hoped your voice sounded like a real threat, even though a smile fought to spread across your face.
“Oh, the power of the magic voice.” He rolled his eyes, taking an exaggerated bite of the sweet, cream smearing across his lips. “I knew I should’ve brought earplugs. What an amateur I am.”
And you just laughed, shaking your head as he kept talking, always jumping from one thought to the next without pause.
Your friendship was like that: full of teasing, laughter, and an intimacy that felt natural. It was easy to be with Peter, easy to forget the complicated world outside when he was by your side.
On that particular night, in the basement of his mother’s house, you realized just how much he meant to you. You had spent hours together, surrounded by old pillows and wrapped in the soundtrack Peter insisted was “essential to understand the decade.”
“You have to admit, Bowie is a genius,” he said, pointing at the tape player like it was a work of art.
“I admit he’s good,” you replied, raising an eyebrow. “But not as good as Queen.”
“What?” Peter placed a hand on his heart, pretending to be offended. “Take that back now, or I’ll be forced to challenge you to a Pong duel!”
“You always want Pong,” you muttered, but the challenge in his eyes made you laugh.
You spent what felt like hours playing and arguing about bands while sharing the almost endless supply of sweets he always hid. After a lot of laughter and sugar, you both fell asleep side by side in the middle of the mess.
You woke up first, senses still numb. It took a moment to realize where you were, who you were with. Peter’s arms were wrapped tightly around you, holding you close to his chest. His breath tickled the top of your head, and you could feel each rise and fall as he inhaled and exhaled. It was a feeling... good. Being held so tightly by him. You sighed, pressing your face into the curve of his neck. There was something there, a scent mixed with the warmth of his skin, that made your heart race.
Without realizing it, you gently pressed your nose to the soft flesh, letting his scent fill your lungs. The skin felt so soft, so smooth. What would it feel like to slide your lips across it? The thought triggered an alert in your mind. Friends didn’t think these things.
“Hmm… you’re smelling my neck now?” he murmured, his voice still rough with sleep sending shivers down your spine, making you feel even guiltier.
You pulled back as if you’d been shocked. “I… No!”
He opened one eye, the familiar glint of teasing starting to show. “Of course not. Didn’t notice a thing.”
You huffed, pushing his shoulder, determined to put some distance between you. “Stop, Peter.”
He laughed, but you felt the heat in your face as you looked away. Because, at that moment, you realized something you had been trying to ignore: you were in love with your best friend. Was there a greater tragedy?
And that thought stayed with you ever since, buried too deep for him to notice. Because, deep down, you knew Peter had always been the kind of person who could pull a smile out of you, even on your worst days.    (...)
The week had been a real nightmare.
Since Monday, obligations seemed to pile up like an avalanche. Exhausting training sessions with the team, a particularly complicated mission involving a hostage rescue at an enemy base, and the weight of final college exams. Even your powers weren’t much help—quite the opposite. Convincing someone to cooperate with your siren voice required extreme mental control, and using it during the mission only added to the emotional exhaustion you were already carrying.
“You’ve got this, Siren’s Tear,” Kurt joked, trying to lighten the mood as he adjusted the communicator.
You smiled at him, but the smile didnt reach your eyes. Siren’s Tear. It was a nickname Peter had made up, a mix of joke and admiration that had spread among the X-Men. Normally, it made you smile. But this week, it felt like an extra weight.
The mission had been chaos. Explosions, confrontations, and life-or-death decisions in a matter of seconds. Even with Kurt’s teleportation and Ororo’s storm control, the enemies were better prepared than expected. You found yourself cornered more than once, forcing your voice to a dangerous limit to make guards lower their weapons. When it was all over, you could barely stand.
And yet, there was the rest of the week waiting for you: piled-up studying, reports for Professor Xavier, and a persistent feeling of inadequacy that whispered you never did enough.
When Saturday finally arrived, your body and mind were at their breaking point. All you wanted was a moment of peace, a break from missions, responsibilities, and any reminder of how difficult it was to balance the two lives you led.
It was in this state that Peter showed up.
You barely had time to process his entrance, as he appeared the way he always did—unannounced, without ceremony, with that playful smile plastered across his face. He held a bag of Twinkies in his right hand and a copy of Space Invaders in the left, as if there was no chance in the world you wouldn’t want to spend the next few hours with him.
“Hey, Siren’s Tear, missed you,” he said, completely ignoring the pitiful state you were in. He threw the bag of snacks on the sofa and started rummaging through the stuff on the table, talking so fast you could barely keep up. “I thought maybe we could relax a bit. I know you’ve had a crazy week, but guess who got the highest score at the arcade? Me. Of course, it was me. And I thought—”
“Peter…” you started, your voice hoarse from the repeated use of your power over the past few days. The pressure in your head was so intense you could almost imagine it exploding.
“—that maybe you could try to beat my record. But good luck, because I’m unstoppable. Seriously, they should rename the game ‘Peter’s Challenge’. What do you think?”
“Peter, stop.” You looked at him with no trace of humor.
He finally looked at you, confused, but with that smile still there, as if he couldn’t imagine that you weren’t on the same wavelength as him.
“Are you okay?” he asked, tilting his head, his dark eyes like coal examining you from head to toe. “You look like you could use a Twinkie. Or two.”
You closed your eyes, trying to take a deep breath, but fatigue and irritation finally broke through your self-control.
“I don’t need Twinkies, Peter!” you exploded, your voice louder than ever. “I need a minute of peace! Just one minute, without you talking nonstop, without you messing everything up, without you… Without you annoying me! Can you just disappear for a while?!”
The room fell into absolute silence. Both surprised, not knowing how to react. You had never shouted at him, not really. The weight of your words made your shoulders sink, a bitter taste in your mouth.
His eyes were wide, surprised, as if he couldn’t believe what he had just heard. Peter Maximoff, the boy who never stopped talking, was speechless.
You realized the gravity of what you’d said in the same instant, but before you could try to fix it, he took a step back, the usual smile replaced by something much sadder and more vulnerable. You had never seen him look so sad. Regret made your stomach burn.
“Wow,” he murmured, his voice low and hesitant, fingers fidgeting nervously. “I… didn’t know you could be influential without your powers.” He commented, his voice dry and brittle.
You opened your mouth to say something, anything, but he raised a hand, as if asking you to stop.
“It's okay,” he said, forcing a smile that didn’t reach his eyes. “I’ll do what you want. I’ll disappear.”
“Peter, don’t—” He disappeared long before you could finish your sentence.
The characteristic sound of his speed faded as quickly as he did, leaving only a heavy silence behind.
You stood there, frozen in the middle of the room, your hand still extended in the air, the words you wanted to say stuck in your throat. An overwhelming wave of guilt washed over you, along with the emptiness left by him. Tears came before you could stop them, flowing hot and silent as you collapsed onto the bed.
Why did you have to explode at him? Why did you have to hurt the one person who always made a point of being by your side, even when you didn’t want to be?
You knew Peter had good intentions. He always had. He just didn’t know how to show them the right way.
But now, he was hurt.
And for the first time, you felt completely alone.
(...)
Three days.
Three days without a sign of Peter.
The Xavier mansion, always so full of life, felt suffocating now. You could barely look at the familiar faces around you without feeling a tightness in your chest. Everything seemed darker, slower, as if the world were mirroring the whirlwind inside you.
The others noticed, of course.
“Are you okay?” Jean asked, her voice soft as she touched your shoulder. You just shook your head, unable to respond. There were no words for the weight of regret you felt.
Even Logan, always so distant, paused as he walked past you in the hallway and gave you a concerned look. “If you need anything, anything at all, let me know,” he said, his voice low and serious.
But nothing helped.
You barely ate, barely slept. When you closed your eyes, all you saw was Peter’s face, the sad smile he tried to hide before disappearing.
“I’ll do what you want. I’ll disappear.”
His words echoed in your mind like a curse, a constant reminder that you had done what you never thought was possible: pushed Peter Maximoff away.
He had always been there. From the first moment, when you arrived at the mansion nervous and lost, he was the first to break the ice. You were startled by his repeated closeness. One moment you were alone, and the next he was right in front of you, all silver hair and easy smiles.
“So, what’s your power?” He leaned in, eyes narrowed as he looked at you with interest. “Can you make people give you free pizza? Because that would be impressive.”
It was a silly question, of course, but the way he said it—with that crooked smile and energy that was impossible to ignore—made you laugh for the first time in weeks.
And from then on, he had been a constant in your life.
You played Space Invaders until your hands hurt, stole treats from the kitchen on midnight missions, and spent hours in his basement (his mother’s) listening to records of bands he insisted were the best in the world. You knew he had tough moments, but he never let it show. He masked the pain with jokes and speed, and you loved him for it—the lightness he brought to your chaotic world.
Now, his absence felt like a hole in your chest.
On the third day, you were sitting on the living room sofa, staring at a book you hadn’t managed to get past the first paragraph, when you heard Kurt and Ororo talking in the distance. A draft of air carried his words to you.
“Peter didn’t show up for training again today,” Kurt said, his voice full of concern. “This isn’t like him.”
“He didn’t come to breakfast either,” Ororo replied. “Do you think he’s okay?”
Your heart sank the moment their words reached you. It was as if the world had stopped, leaving only the deafening sound of guilt pounding in your ears.
Peter wasn’t okay.
You knew that.
Rising, you left the room without saying a word, ignoring the curious looks from the others. Each step felt heavier than the last, but you knew what you needed to do.
Deep down, you already knew where to find him.
The Maximoff house had a peculiar charm that always made you smile. A mix of the '70s, nostalgia, and controlled chaos that perfectly suited Peter. But today, as you climbed the steps to the porch, your heart was too heavy to be swayed by the usual sense of comfort.
At the door, holding the stack of sweets and the pizza box—the favorite of both of you, with extra pepperoni and that crispy crust Peter always called “a gift from the gods”—you took a deep breath before knocking.
Mrs. Maximoff opened the door almost immediately, with her warm smile and curious eyes. “Oh, dear! It’s been a while since I’ve seen you!” she exclaimed, pulling you into a tight hug.
“Hi, Mrs. Maximoff,” you said, trying to keep your voice steady.
She stepped back, holding your face for a moment. “You look... tired. Are you okay?”
“Yes, I’m fine. Actually, I came to see Peter.”
Her expression softened, but her eyes shone with a touch of concern. “He’s in the basement. He spends most of his time down there lately.” She hesitated before adding, “He misses you, you know? And so do I. You bring good energy to this house.”
Her words were simple, but they hit hard. You gave a small, shy smile and a “Thank you,” before heading down to the basement, your heart pounding too fast in your chest.
As you descended the steps, a familiar soundtrack began to fill the space: the sound of an intense pinball game, interspersed with muffled music from a nearby radio.
Peter was in his element.
The first thing you noticed was the speed. He darted back and forth across the basement in a typical frenzy, alternating between playing the arcade game, taking bites of a Twinkie, and making quick adjustments to the stack of vinyl records by the old record player.
For a moment, he passed by too quickly, the movement so fast it looked like a silver blur. But even so, he paused long enough to take a good look at you. He noticed the dark circles under your eyes, the tired expression, and, most of all, the look of regret that seemed to weigh on you like a second skin. And, of course, you still looked beautiful as always, in one of those summer dresses that left your shoulders and collarbone on full display. God, he loved those dresses, and loved seeing you wearing them even more.
Peter went back to the arcade as if nothing had happened, but his game slowed down a bit, the movements less precise. It was enough for you to catch up.
He looked the same as always, but completely different. There was a crease between his eyebrows, his hair was tousled, and he looked disheveled.
You set the pizza and sweets on a makeshift table full of empty wrappers and called out, your voice wavering, “Peter, can we talk?”
He stopped pressing the buttons but didn’t turn around right away. For a moment, he stood there, his shoulders rigid, before straightening and turning to face you. “Sure. I’m all ears.” You felt small under his gaze.
The attempt to look nonchalant fooled no one. The tension in his jaw, the slight crease between his brows, and the arms crossed over his chest told another story.
You stepped forward, hesitating, really trying to find the right words. “I came to apologize. I was wrong, Peter. I was exhausted and overwhelmed, but that’s no excuse for yelling at you. I... I hurt you, and I’m sorry. You’re my best friend and... I really want things to go back to normal. For us to go back to how we were before.”
His eyes narrowed slightly, and he shook his head, letting out a long, heavy sigh. The gesture made your heart drop, as if you were falling off an endless cliff.
“No,” he said, his voice low but firm. A punch to the stomach wouldn’t have hurt as much.
“No?” you repeated, unable to hide the confusion and tightness that overtook you. Your heart sank in your chest, the feeling like falling.
Peter rubbed the back of his neck, clearly uncomfortable, shifting his weight between his legs. “I don’t want things to go back to normal,” he explained, his voice even lower, almost a whisper.
You blinked, completely bewildered. “What does that mean?”
He took a step toward you but stopped, maintaining a small distance. His eyes met yours, and the intensity in his gaze made you hold your breath.
“It means that I’m sorry too,” he began, his voice heavy with emotion. “I shouldn’t have provoked you like that, especially when you were already exhausted. But... I do it because...” He stopped, clearly struggling to find the right words.
“Because what?” you urged, feeling your palms begin to sweat.
This was it—Peter was a tiny step away from ruining everything again. But damn it, he had to risk it. He couldn’t just pretend he wanted to be just friends. How could he? It was painful to be so close and so far away at the same time. He needed more; he wanted more.
“Because I like your attention, okay?” he finally blurted out, his voice louder than he intended. “I like when you look at me, even if it’s to tell me to shut up or roll your eyes. I like when you smile at my stupid jokes, even if you pretend you don’t find them funny. And, damn, I like being near you.”
“Peter…” you began, but he raised a hand to interrupt you.
“I know, I know,” he said, laughing nervously. “I’m terrible at this. That’s why I always hide everything behind jokes and teasing. But... it’s true. I like you. I really do. And I don’t want things to go back to normal, because, to be honest, ‘normal’ was never enough for me.”
You stood still, each of his words piercing deep into your chest, but in a sweet, almost painful way. He was there, completely vulnerable, and you didn’t know if it was possible to love him more than you did at that moment. Your heart slammed against your ribs with each painful beat.
He felt the same. Peter felt the same.
You felt tears prick your eyes, but you kept your gaze locked on him, taking in every word.
“You’re unbelievable, you know that?” you finally said, your voice heavy with emotion.
He raised an eyebrow. “Is that good or bad?”
“It’s annoying,” you replied, a small smile playing on your lips. “But it’s also… everything I needed to hear.”
His eyes widened slightly, shocked by your confession. “Really?”
You shrugged, feigning casualness, but your smile gave you away. “So, are you going to kiss me or keep stalling?”
The surprise on his face turned into a mischievous grin. “Oh, so now it’s me who’s stalling?”
“Peter,” you warned, but he was already closer, so fast that you barely noticed the movement.
His hands cupped your face, purposefully slow, still with a small smile curled on his lips as he moved closer and closer. Your eyes closed as you felt his breath intertwine with yours, his sweet breath making you imagine that his mouth must be even sweeter. Gently, his lips molded to yours, remaining that way for a moment before he pulled back. You felt his chest rise and fall unevenly, as if he had run around the planet. Peter murmured something, too fast for your ears to understand.
The next second his lips pressed against yours again, hungry. His hand went down your spine, firming on your waist to pull you closer, crushing you against his chest as his lips explored your mouth. You sighed as you felt his tongue, soft and warm, slide across yours, kissing you deeply. He kissed you for what could have been an eternity, stealing the air from your lungs, turning you into a fragile creature dependent on the caresses of that wicked mouth.
When you separated, he refused to stop kissing you, rubbing his lips along your jaw, leaving love bites on the side of your neck, adoring every part of you, as if to make up for all the lost time. Small noises of pleasure escaped your mouth, your knees barely seemed capable of keeping you upright, so your hands quickly found support on his broad shoulders. “Peter.” You sighed weakly, feeling your face heat as he straightened, leveling your faces. His mouth was red and swollen, with a crooked smile, his eyes darker than ever.
“I should do this more often,” he teased, his voice low and husky, his fingers still kneading the soft flesh of your waist.
You rolled your eyes but couldn’t stop the smile. “Maybe.”
He chuckled, gently brushing your hair away from your face, looking at you more closely. “You’re tired, aren’t you?” he asked, his tone more serious now.
“A little,” you admitted, shrugging, afraid of ruining the moment.
“Then I think it’s time for you to rest.”
“But—” He didn’t allow any objections, guiding you to the bed nearby, wide enough for both of you. He settled down beside you, pulling you to lie against him. His fingers traced calming circles on your back. “You can’t send me away anymore, got it?”
You nodded, your face pressed against the curve of his neck, inhaling the familiar scent that dulled your senses. The accumulated exhaustion finally began to ease. “But I can still make you dance to ABBA in the street.” You joked, smiling as he shuddered dramatically.
“Do your worst, you little troublemaker.” He pressed a kiss to the top of your head, then another to your temple, and countless others until he reached your ear. “Ask me to stay,” he whispered, and just because he could, he nipped the sensitive skin just below.
You shivered, holding him tighter in your arms, feeling his chest vibrate with a silent laugh. Raising your face, you used your siren voice. “Stay with me, Peter.”
His eyes widened in surprise, staring at you for long seconds before his lips curled into a devilish grin. “Fuck, can you do that again? Please, we need to test your powers when—”
“Peter.” You cut him off with a laugh, burying your face back against his chest, feeling your cheeks burn at the direction the conversation had taken. “Later, okay? Can we just rest now?”
“You don’t have to ask twice, love.”
The familiar sense of security you always felt around him returned in full force, but this time there was something more. Something deeper, more intimate.
With your face pressed to his neck, you hesitated for a moment before placing a soft kiss there, a silent thank-you for everything he was.
Peter tightened his embrace, and for the first time in days, you felt whole.
