I based him off of a barbarian and yes he's a wolf again cause I think it's cool and groovy hairy old dilf supremacy (I've since added more hair cause I forgot in these sketches)

Ok but looking at mys!Aaron's character progression from a purely canon lens (which i never do cause ick) is actually so funny

Like how did we go from:

brooding tsundere loner in PDH s1 -> ball of anxiety being gaslit, abused, and destroyed by his father in PDH s2 and FCU -> Literally Just a normal chill guy in Mystreet -> every 12 year old's edgy black and red werewolf anime oc in emerald secret -> twunk puppycore wifeguy with actually really well-written ptsd in starlight.

Like what. That's not even addressing his dad getting retconned then UN-retconned from a horrifically abusive pos to a silly goofy dad guy (starlight) and then BACK (fcu) but not really???

Aphmau and Aaron from my PDH rewrite (I will be rewriting PDH through MyS, so you’ll probably be getting college and MyS redesigns at some point too!)

Aaron is such a controversial character within the Aphmau community. The community itself isn't as controversial other than the existence of Aaron Lycan. (And the ships ig)

I've never watched MCD because 3 eps in and I found it too boring to continue. So I'm only covering MyStreet and PDH. (And additionally FCU)

I can see the development of this character throughout the whole series but it's just- executed in a bad way. And also the fact his character only consists of : ultima, fuck my parents, and omg aphmau.

I think over the course of MyStreet season 5 we get to see more of the relationship between Aaron and his family(especially Melissa) and I enjoyed watching the change in their bond, but other than his family issues and his love for aphmau, I don't really see much of him as a character. It's like his personality is just.. Daddy issues and my girlfriend.

PDH was.. something. It was enemies to lovers but make the female protag have multiple other guys swooning over her which honestly have more chemistry than the male protag. The whole FC and Shu thing is cute and all- but just seems like a bit of a stretch like a 2018 wattpad fanfic.

FCU, again, was just us seeing more of Aaron's daddy issues(I don't think his mom played a role in this) and his absolute obsession over Aphmau.

I can't help but see a lot of potential for Aaron as a character, and I wished we could've seen more to him rather than what we have on screen.

Either way, I am still biased over Aaron simply because Jason's voice acting is superb in the MyStreet series.

I really don't like how the mystreet universe (mystreet, phd, falcon claw) infantillizes Aphmau. In either mystreet or falcon claw uni several characters go to a cinema, and the employee they are purchasing tickets from mistakes aphmau for a child. I get that her character is short, but seriously? Does she also have a baby face?

In season five of mystreet there are two instances of this that I can remember(& I'm not gonna rewatch f@#$ing season 5 of mystreet for this!). One instance of this is how Aphmau seemingly forgot how to cook sometime after season 3(the writers probly forgot lol), the second event of note is how when Aphmau becomes a werewolf she has puppy ears. In season 3 of mystreet Aphmau is capable of cooking, but in season 5 she has no clue how to cook and Aaron cooks for her. I don't think I have to explain why the puppy ears thing makes me uncomfortable.

In season 1 there was a joke which was either a reference to her fnaf role play or implying that she worked as a striper. How did she go from that to being comically small, unable to take care of herself, and having very notable neotenous physical characteristics(neoteny is when animals keep childlike traits into adulthood)?!

I'm pretty sure this just happened because the authors are incredibly bad at writing, but one could probably spin this into some kind of theory about Aaron secretly being evil or something akin to that.

Hello everypony, welcome back to Bubbles rants about cube shaped people who's stories may or may not ever be finished, today's topic..

The portrayal of homeschooling in Aphmau's PDH. Reviewed by, a shut in homeschooled teen girl.

Aphmau

PDH!APH IS LEGIT ONE OF THE BEST PORTRAYALS OF HOMESCHOOLING I'VE SEEN.

like she doesn't fall into the 'I was homeschooled, so I'm good at everything' or the 'social freako who was locked inside their house for a reason' stereotypes. She's a normal somewhat awkward, occasionally cringe, teen girl.

Speaking of cringe, I find most (not all) cringe moments very very relatable to irl experiences I've had. Especially the way you don't necessarily realize how words sound when they first come out. (Yes this is about the 'let's make a new one!' Babysitting scene.)

And the whole 'she finds nearly everyone she meets somewhat cute' thing (Katelyn, garroth, laurance, Aaron etc) is the most accurate thing ever, like for non-homeschooled shut ins, imagine how whenever there's a new kid at school and everyone suddenly has a crush on them, but everyone is the new kid to you.

The whole back and fourth she had with Teony on how homeschooling isn't that fun and all she did was play video games? Amazingly accurate to every conversation I've ever had about homeschooling.

Another quick tid bit is that I enjoy the habit Aph has of talking to herself, because sometimes when you have nobody to talk to, you start talking to yourself, but when you do have people to talk to again, the habit of talking to the invisible person doesn't disappear.

I find that Jess having been homeschooled for a year herself due to 9/11, makes her writing and handling of PDH!APH hit home for me.

Aaron.

^ the social freako who was locked in their house for a reason, and I was homeschooled so I'm good at everything. While he is technically a stereotype, he isn't technically homeschooled, he just went to military school.

BUUUTT, he is a good example on how sometimes when you grow up isolated, you stay isolated.

While I relate to Aph more nowadays, what's implied to be how Aaron was pre-senior year does remind me loads of the person I used to be. All lonely and off in a corner.

He really does highlight how some people get their daily social interaction by being aggressive to others. It's harsh, but it's true.

I enjoy how in FCU he is seen actively *trying* to make friends, his struggles are eerily realistic that I quite enjoy. I also like how he portrays how sometimes socially isolated people can be jerks, just like how they can be not jerks.

Conclusions.

Both Aaron and Aph can be seen as two of many ways people can take loneliness. 'Accepting' the loneliness and shutting out any chances of social interaction, and trying to cope with the loneliness by pretending everything is smooth sailing. sometimes you're even a strange hybrid of the two. Moral is, severe isolation sucks.

Anyways this is also one of those times where writing for your and your spouses kinda self inserts come really in handy! Like I said in Aph's final tidbit, Jess' writing really shines whenever she writes stuff she knows.

As an ending bit and a slight disclaimer, this is mainly from my experience of being homeschooled for the past nine years, other people might have different experiences.

Okay so something I wanna say that I feel like would have both been really wholesome but really angsty too;

Aaron, Katelyn, Garroth and Travis being childhood friends due yo their families connections and being really close, however due to Derek’s dumbass paranoia he’d pull Aaron away from them telling it was for their safety. I can imagine only after FC Aaron was truly able to try and reconnect with them after getting his situation sorted - they’d be surprised that he’s even alive, but regardless were very happy to see their long lost friend again:)
