hey guys so I just started reading Flatland by Edwin A. Abbott and OMG AHSBNSBSBSNSNBSHZHSHDBFHGGHFHGRJ2KSHSBSNSK AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA I LOVE THINKING ABOUT THE RELATIVITY BETWEEN DIMENSIONS!!!!!!

#probably the nerdiest thing i will ever read in my entire life but I AM SO HAPPY #Its the unabridged and corrected 1992 republication btw. if you wanna get specific #the only book in which i have actually decided to read the introductory notes and i do NOT regret it because the editor's one IMMEDIATELY #brought up the “oh but surely the second dimension has thickness how else would flatlanders see anything” AND GAVE A REALLY GOOD ANSWER.#which i cannot tell you here. bc it is several paragraphs long and idk how i would shorten it. i would hit tag limit. if thats a thing.#anyways. I'm only a little bit into the first part which basically explains how Flatland works as a society so i haven't even gotten to the #sphere yet but OH MAN I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO EXCITED ABOUT A ROUND OBJECT IN MY LIFE #IM LOSING IT OVER THIS BOOK AAAA :D #me: im so glad i dont have a math class during my senior year! now i dont have to learn anything math-related!#also me: but what if i started studying a complex and almost entirely theoretical part of geometry #bc YEAH i didn't just buy this book bc of gravity falls. im very much a beginner at sewing BUT i do think this turned out pretty charming despite all the flaws!!

#i made her for one of my best friends #its a tiny version of her cat and said cat is named tiny #never use stretch fabric as a beginner its hell to work with ough #i had fun though!! despite a few times i got pretty frustrated #i also was swearing up a storm and talking to myself quiety the whole time but that just helped me focus lmao #sewing #plushies #handmade #cat #yew branch #also someone who was there when i gave this to my friend came up to me shortly afterwards #and she asked if she could commission me for three of these bc she has three cats #i said itd prooobably be around $150 but id reduce it a lot if she paid for whatever new fabrics and matching thread id need #id be charging that high because this single plushie took me eight hours #but also the girl has a stetched septum at my goal size and i asked if she still has the various sized jewelry she used during the process #and she said yes and that she would be delighted to give them to someone who is just starting the process #she said she would give me them for free but if she does commission me im gonna give a further discount in exchange for the jewelry #her bf arrived to pick her up unexpectedly early though so she had to leave really fast bc he refused to wait :/#so i didnt get her contact info. but literally everyone at that hangout knows her so i can just get her contact info from them #im pretty excited about this tbh itd be wonderful to have motivation like that to get back into sewing #even if she doesnt end up commissioning me its still a confidence boost that she asked me!!#also the friend whos birthday it was (shes a new years eve baby!) Fifty yuri stories for the price of one.

It's really cool to see a romantic take on characters and then a more nuanced, surprising take.

Great - nay - even innovative art.

what's wrong with this girl. She's going into this marriage as though she's actually DYING, she literally explicitly sees it as DYING. She has vague flashbacks to something terrible related to this man. Or her father. Or both. The man's face is always a black nothing. Yet she lies and simpers to convenience him and her father. What's wrong with her? (Like, literally)

They humanised the disgusting adult man who's marrying a girl straight out of high school. For some reason, he's devoted to her...??? (Is he supposed to be the 'good face' of patriarchy? The prince who will go along with forced marriage but he loves her so it's ok?)

It's amazing how her eyes go completely black when she's forced to contend with her future. And come alive and manga-sparkling in her mental yuri escape with her friend. It's such an effective and creepy effect

WHY DOES SHE KEEP FLASHING BACK TO HER CREEPY AS FUCK FATHER WHEN CONFRONTED WITH

She's literally physically sick. This girl has deep seated suppressed trauma.

Anyway. The hinted at darkness in this story contrasted with mostly light hearted yuri stories and a very detailed and well-rendered high school setting is a brilliant combination.

#so she meets her best friend and thinks shes the prettiest girl in the world.#then.#BACK TO THE PRESENT #WHAT HAPPENED??? WHATS THAT WEIRD IMAGE OF THE HAND AND THE DIRT AND THE LITTLE FEET #i just want these two to get out and be happy and get together aaaa #ahhh reading about her convincing herself that its ok because shes had enough happiness - feels suffocating #this homeroom teacher hears this other girl say: to me my mother is utterly terrifying WHILE CRYING #and goes: oh no! then lets her leave #anyway time to sleep #i just want there to be a happy wnding and im anxious #i hate stories that are good and tense and mysterious and then there isnt even a happy ending. dont do that #but the yuri short stories do seem to say that the author is very good #my stuff #vidi #yuri espoir #the piece of shit art teacher seriously went: oh but shell be happy with this guy hes AMAZING (i know bc im in love with him)#shut your fucking mouth
