Being a tumblr user who listens to a lot of punk/metal/nu-metal, I feel like kind of an outsider when people excitedly post lyrics to their blorbo songs that I've never heard of. But maybe I'm not alone!

I'm not sure I've developed any recent musical obsessions. Finding a song that really gets in me like that is like catching lightning in a bottle, it just doesn't happen easily. The other day Fab Tool (Carpenter Brut + David Eugene Edwards) was playing and I was once again struck dumb by how incredible it is that two artists from notably different genres who are yet both associated with the same god in my mind somehow managed to make a song together, and what a song, too! The way those roads converged, just for me*... man.

*of course it was For Me Specifically. you wouldn't expect me of all people to think otherwise, would you? :p

This is such a specific (and highly irregular, in my view) kind of event that I'm not sure I have anything for it at all, and if I do, I certainly wouldn't remember it off the top of my head.

"Influenced" is such a nebulous word that so, so many songs could fit, just because I've been really into music since childhood and have a lot of anecdotal data for how different music has affected me over all that time. It's a bit daunting. How does one choose?

I am stressed in the face of this enormity but here's my best attempt that will take me less than an hour to collate:

Exist, Avenged Sevenfold (have been an A7X fan since high school. this song came out long after that but it reactivated my love for them in a whole new context)

I Know It's Gonna Happen Someday, David Bowie (this got me through a lot during those last years in NY)

3 Libras, A Perfect Circle (I don't think there's been a single occupant of this body that has not been extremely affected to the point of madness by this song)

It's still a great way to start off your career. Let me know the next time you're playing one, and I'll be there to cheer you on. I get it. Some things you just gotta keep close to your heart. But yeah, that'd be a great meme. I fully support this. I Can See You is so great right? I connected a lot with Castles Crumbling. A7X is just a good band to let loose too if you're feeling any kind of emotion on the negative side of things. And Dua Lipa, she's great for random dance parties.

I really didn't mind it. Hey, I'm sure he was grateful for it, even if he did have to help. It's the thought that counts and a sweet way to show him that you care. Trust me when I say I already have way too much cheese here at the house. Besides it's not like I can really taste any of it anymore. Hey, I get it. My family used to pick on me too.

It's a moldy cheesy with a soft center. It sounds gross, but it's actually really good. And no, but I know what you're talking about, I just can't think of the name. I mean that's pretty convenient, but does it actually have cheese in it? Or just cheese flavor on some stringy goo? The Chef does it right okay? Maybe if you top it with some of his favorite cheese he'll enjoy it more?

I've never been complimented on my bedhead drool look before, but thank you.

Well, it's more random turns at open mic nights than anything else. I've written a couple of things, but I don't usually share those. Though now I might have to write a song with that line, if only for the meme. Oh yeah, I love Taylor Swift. Already know all the new vault tracks by heart, but I Can See You is definitely my favorite. Don't think I've listened to Avenged Sevenfold, but I like Dua Lipa! That's fun though.

Oh, you really didn't have to send him anything. I already made him lasgna... okay, I may have nearly burnt the noodles and he got home to the kitchen all smoky and had to help me make the lasagna, but that's besides the point. If anything, Andy and I should have sent you the cheese. Kaden... well, he's fine. He doesn't mind the teasing. It's how we express love [...] in French families.

Uh, which one is brie again? That's not the stinky one is it? Spray cheese you can spray right from the can to your mouth... and they're available at gas stations and convenience stores. Thank you for understanding the ravioli. It's literally my favorite food and he's a hater, but I guess I'll just shake it off.

I'm grateful for that one. But like, if you're really pulling the exact vibe of that gif, Anna does manage to make the bedhead and drool look adorable.

Speaking of pups... I may have found a litter of puppies that we're fostering. And by may I mean I definitely did. They're like 9 week old german shepherd puppies... they're a little weird though. The one that needs a home moos instead of barks? But still extra sweet and fluffy and soft.

[pm] For sure. None taken. I'm [...] not great at the trust thing either. Can't say I necessarily get the status or being taken advantage of in that sense, but I get trust being hard and putting up a good front. You don't have to trust me, I haven't really given you any reason to. And you know, this was pretty honest to express, right? I usually avoid doing that. Just kinda reveal seemingly meaningful parts of myself to make it seem like I'm trusting. So hey, got some steps ahead of me. I'll do my best to be worthy of any trust you place in me... and will try to do the same.

Funny I was talking to someone else about the same thing. Cass, actually. I kind of [...] like her a lot. Like I'm pretty sure I'm in full on simp mode at the moment which is not usually me. Calling that next party turns into a trust circle or some other cheesy retreat crap.

Listen, if there's a theme, I gotta be on it. No one puts together a better thrifted theme look than me... which if you haven't gone, you gotta go to Party Thrifter. Huh, I didn't feel prepared to spiritually relate to a mime on that level.
