categorized and generalized all the types of tumblr aesthetics i have come across.
I have been going through archives for the last five years on tumblr now, and i can’t help but notice that a lot of blogs are the same. There seems to be a pattern in the sorts of aesthetics i run up against. So, in my exhaustion, i tried coming up with all the different aesthetics, and i tried to put them into certain categories. Obviously, some of these categories are mixed with others.

Entertainment Capital of L.A.
Studio it to Theme Park
Like
Disney Studios it to Disneyland
and
NBC Universal is to Universal Studios Hollywood
A Quick Rundown of the Park:
Universal Studios Hollywood is a theme park and film studio in one located in San Fernando Valley (LA County). The theme park aspect is based off shows and movies that were produced by NBC Universal and their subsidiaries. For example: The Simpsons, Harry Potter ( with permission of Warner Bros.), Jurassic Park, and The Minions to name a few. At the lower section of the theme park is the studio lot. Which is where shows like The Voice, Will & Grace, and movies are filmed. Note that park attendees are not allowed inside the show sets, instead they are shown set glimpses of Jaws, Titanic, cars from the Fast and Furious Franchise, and more. They also have a shopping strip, City Walk, outside of the theme park available free of charge. This includes food and dining options, movie theater, a bowling alley, and the filming location of Extra TV (plus more).
Halloween Horror Nights (HHN) is a theme park-wide event that usually takes place late September to early November. The typical hours are 7:00 pm to 2:00 am. Visitors must purchase a Horror Nights ticket, if have a day pass they will not be allowed inside the theme park during HHN hours, and no, you cant stay inside the park. They have everyone leave the park early in order to get ready for the night guests. For Horror Nights, guests get to enjoy the regular rides, go on mazes, scare zones and wander around the park with characters from horror films. Included Chucky, Jason, clowns, and other frightful characters.
I will be doing a going over the
a) Theme Parks Instagram and Twitter
b) Horror Nights Instagram and twitter
Universal Studios’ Instagram looks like it belongs to a friend that enjoys going to the amusement park. And that is what the page is, well sort of. The content on the Instagram are pictures from attendees that have posted and tagged the theme park on their Instagram. This allows anyone’s photography skills to be featured on the page and get exposure to more followers. The theme park has an interaction which is rarely seen through brands/companies by allowing anyone to be featured on the page. Note that not all the pictures are by fans, occasionally, the park will post their own original content. Universal Studios posts regularly, with one post a day and feature everything from the food, rides, and location shots from inside the park and from City Walk.
The theme park’s Twitter consists on information on the park, and serves as customer service. Posting on events and special offers available at the park and at City Walk. For example, they link to contests to win free admission tickets, to opportunities to be audience members to The Voice. As far as their customer service side, it is nothing out of the ordinary , they get back to questions, concerns and comments as soon as they can. The account posts regularly and posts links, photos, and videos (theme park related).
Horror Night’s twitter posts regularly and aims its content to be more HHN related. There is few pictures but what they do offer is “passwords” of the night. These passwords can be used at selected attractions and in return guests receive collectible cards. This type of contest goes from social media interaction to in person interaction. The account is run by the creative director of HHN who tweets on updates like maze opening times, to the availability of Front of the Line passes and behind the scenes look at mazes. He occasional will reply to followers although this is not his main concern.
The Instagram page for Halloween Horror Nights (HHN) is ran like the theme park’s Instagram. They post pictures by fans and occasionally their own original content. What differs in this account Is how they offer a glimpse of the behind the scenes and link contests to win tickets. The contests open weekly on Wednesday and participation is through Instagram by utilizing #HHNScreamOff and a video. The winners are announced on the insta. page and they win tickets to HHN.
There does not seem to be a theme to their Instagram (HHN and Uni. Studios) and some of their content lacks quality but overall the park excels on customer interaction throughout all platforms. Everything from the contests, behind the scenes, and having the opportunity to be features on their socials is something many companies do not offer to their followers.

Are you the type of criminal to A: accidentally post an instagram pic with evidence in the background B: call yourself a "rare art thief" then steal the light up chucky cheese sign or C: curate a bunch of crime emojis for a mutual that clearly contain coded messages inside. Ready? Go!
Me, typing the word "crime" in my emojis search and nothing coming up: Well, I've tried everything possible Crime emojis just do not exist.
@smiledean my attention to detail is immaculate. Yes, let's do crime. I probably won't leave behind massive amounts of clues and incriminating DNA.

Mitch visits Auston in the summer and they wake up early to make the drive to Grand Canyon to see the sunrise. It's comfortable, in the rare occasions that Mitch is too sleepy to stay awake, trying not to doze off in the passenger seat. Later, Mitch staring at the view in awe bc we definitely don't have that in Toronto. Auston snaps a photo of Mitch's silhouette as he faces the beautiful Arizona sunrise, and if he posts it on Instagram later on, it's only for the aesthetic, god Marns. (1/2)
He makes sure to get a photo of the both of them too, but only to show to Chucky that Mitch voluntarily woke up early for a non-hockey event. He thinks back to meeting Mitch, and how bright and warm he was from the moment they met at dev camp. How they’ve gone through all this losing together, but this next season feels different. Auston’s always been confident in himself, but staring at the sunrise with Mitch yapping at his side, he feels like they could accomplish anything together. (2/2)
I’m speechless this is so beautiful?? Auston driving through the desert, sneaking occasional glances at Mitch dozing in the passenger seat, his neck at an awkward angle, the pinks and grays of the sunrise painted over his face. Waking up and reaching for the coffee in a shitty little thermos, asking Auston if they’re close yet. Standing near the edge, Mitch trying to count the layers of rock, Auston with his hands in his pockets facing the wind and feeling at peace with Mitch next to him. Watching the sun set over the desert and stopping to look at the night sky with all its millions of stars, brighter and clearer than they are over Toronto. Sitting on the hood of Auston’s car and Auston tries to take a pic of Mitch’s silhouette blocking out the stars. It doesn’t come out great but Auston likes it anyway.

Horror Recap of Fan Expo Canada 2017
New Post has been published on https://nofspodcast.com/horror-recap-fan-expo-canada-2017/
Horror Recap of Fan Expo Canada 2017
Despite sore feet and heavy backpacks, Jon and I survived the Labour Day Long weekend at Toronto’s Fan Expo Canada. Fan Expo is the 4-day-long genre event that turns the largest city in Canada into a haven for nerds of all shapes, costumes, and sizes. It descends upon the city every year, offering the best of Comics, Anime, Sci-Fi, Gaming, and la creme de la creme – HORROR!
The impressive Horror Exhibitor Area at Fan Expo Canada
Horror Guests
This year’s line-up boasted a pretty impressive roster of horror guests;
The Cast of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, including Tim Curry and Meat Loaf
Norman Reedus of The Walking Dead
Bruce Campbell of Ash Vs. Evil Dead and The Evil Dead film series
Khary Payton of The Walking Dead
Richard Dreyfuss of Jaws, Close Encounters of the Third Kind
Kathleen Turner of Serial Mom
Anthony Stewart Head of Buffy The Vampire Slayer
Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, & Caleb Mclaughlin of Stranger Things
Celebrity Panels
There were the mind-blowing moments of Tim Curry’s Q-and-A (in which he discussed the Upcoming It adaptation and the new Pennywise), Bruce Campbell’s hour of hilarity, and the world premiere of Ghosted with Craig Robinson. Unfortunately, there were a few other Horror panels that we were unable to attend due to capacity limits or conflicting schedules. We would have lover to have seen the Stranger Things panel, the It panel, and the cast of the Rocky Horror Show reunion.
This slideshow requires JavaScript.
Caffeine Break
When we weren’t busy in panels (or running to-and-from one) we took the opportunity to check out the exhibition floor, and all of the awesome Horror vendors and Exhibitors. One of our first stops was Deadly Grounds Coffee company, providers of spooky caffeinated goods. Including Never Sleep Again (a coffee inspired by our favorite knife-fingered villain), Sinful Delight (the spooky combination of chocolate and *gasp* cinnamon), or one of their many Terror Teas! We’ve long been fans of Deadly Grounds, after discovering them at our local Board Game cafe (a regular haunt). It was great meeting head of Canadian Operations, Brad Mavin, and to hear about all of the exciting plans for Deadly Grounds in the near future. Including a HORROR. THEMED. CAFE. We’ll be sure to keep you updated on this amazing, caffeinated company!
It: Float VR Experience
This slideshow requires JavaScript.
On the exhibitor floor, there was also a giant, slightly terrifying school bus. The set-up was promoting the IT: FLOAT VR experience, leading up to the latest Stephen King adaptation, It. The Losers’ Club cast was also in attendance for a panel, but we were unfortunately unable to attend. The highly anticipated film hits theatres on September 8th.
Guillermo del Toro: At Home With Monsters
I’ve been eagerly awaiting the Guillermo del Toro exhibit that will be making it’s way to Toronto beginning September 30th, and was ecstatic to see The Art Gallery of Ontario‘s booth promoting it. They were offering t-shirts, tickets, and copies of the 144 page fully-illustrated catalogue of the exhibit. The event promises:
From the fantastic to the frightful, don’t miss this rare glimpse into the world of renowned filmmaker Guillermo del Toro and his cabinet of curiosities. Taking inspiration from del Toro’s extraordinary imagination, At Home with Monsters reveals his creative process through his personal collection of art, artefacts, books, props, and ephemera, all culled from Bleak House, del Toro’s creative haven located in Los Angeles. This unique exhibition explores the creative mind behind one of the most inventive filmmakers of our generation revealing his influences, from the Medieval era to contemporary culture, and his particular obsession with horror, fantasy and the rich heritage of the Victorian era.
And, just for fun – they had a green screen set up and were offering pictures with some of Guillermo’s most iconic characters. Jon’s is featured at the top of this article (if you’re wondering why I’m not in it, Green Hair doesn’t fair well against a green screen..)
Toronto After Dark
The team from Toronto After Dark also had a booth at the event promoting their annual Horror Film Festival. Toronto After Dark is always a treat, spotlighting the best upcoming genre films during a week long event in the heart of Toronto. We were excited to get a glimpse of the first wave of films announced at this year’s festival, including: My Friend Dahmer, Mayhem, Tragedy Girls, Cult of Chucky, and more! The festival runs from October 12-20th. All-access passes can be purchased here.
Freaky Finds
This slideshow requires JavaScript.
We also stopped in at the Shudder booth, the Troma booth, Black Fawn Distribution, Raven Banner Entertainment, the Horror Writers Association and so many more. And, the festival wouldn’t be the con I know without an array of COSTUMES. Every year, cosplayers come decked out as their favorite characters – and there were no shortage of horror-inspired outfits! Pennywise was definitely the most popular choice of the summer, with a few serial killers here and there. My favorite of the festival was the Sanderson sisters Hocus Pocus cosplay (above).
We also had the awesome opportunity to meet and chat with fans, listeners and readers, (and to give out a few Nightmare on Film Street stickers!). Overall, it was an exciting weekend, and a great way to interact with our local Horror community. We can’t wait to see what scares next summer will bring!
If you want more Fan Expo Canada coverage, head over to our social media. We posted tons of photos and updates on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. We will also be covering Fan Expo Canada on this week’s episode of Nightmare on Film Street.

The Coffee Lover’s Guide To Sofia, Bulgaria
Flowing from the shadow of Vitosha Mountain, Bulgaria’s 9,000-year-old capital mixes buckling sidewalks with constant revitalization. In Sofia, you will find slowly crumbling buildings perched alongside modern craft beer shops and a newly designed rapid transit metro running in tandem with rusting trams. Out of these competing eras has emerged the specialty coffee scene.
The Sofia coffee community has many small basement roasters and online-only retailers, but few specialty cafes. Though some coffee roasters source high-quality beans and have equipment to deliver a wonderful cup, the process from roast to extraction often lacks the essence of a specialty shop. The cafes that do overcome this challenge find they face a demand problem. For now, these shops tend to focus on education, teaching the art of craft coffee, and that black can taste better than white.
Here are a few places where you can find a complex cup in Sofia.
Dabov Specialty Coffee
Brainchild of five-time Cup of Excellence judge Jordan Dabov, Dabov Specialty Coffee has been working to bring the world’s best coffee to Bulgaria since 2008. They sell roasted beans to over 100 shops in Sofia and recently began to make their mark on the city’s cafe scene. While a planned mixed cafe space including a roasting facility and cupping area waits on permits and construction, their small space west of the National Palace of Culture has opened its doors to customers and coffee enthusiasts.
The pop-up style shop aims to build awareness and customers for the next wave of specialty coffee to hit Sofia. Pulling shots with a Sanremo Opera, Kees van der Westen Mirage, and Mahlkönig EK 43, Dabov doesn’t skimp when it comes to having the best coffee gear. Most importantly, they want every shot they pull to be your best ever. With quality beans—including the 2016 Guatemala Cup of Excellence winner—and single origins from all over the world, Dabov has one of the widest selections of coffee in Sofia. In addition to classic espresso drinks, the pop-up offers liquor-based coffee cocktails, drip coffee, and a welcoming atmosphere.
This shop seeks nothing less than to raise the bar for the Sofia craft coffee scene. If you want to see what Sofia’s bright specialty coffee future looks like then swinging by Dabov is a must.
Dabov Specialty Coffee is located at ul. “Lyuben Karavelov” 58, 1142. Visit their official website and follow them on Facebook and Instagram.
Chucky’s Coffee & Culture
Chucky’s Coffee & Culture prides itself on being the first craft coffee shop in Sofia. Owner Ivan Chavdarov worked in coffee in Athens for eight years before returning to Bulgaria and opening “Chucky’s Coffee House” near Vitosha Boulevard in 2014. The shop started as an experiment, something Chavdarov never saw succeeding. He remembers thinking he’d be forced to close it in three to six months. To his pleasant surprise it took off. Using educational workshops to introduce a new breed of customers to craft coffee, the shop quickly became a success.
Chucky’s offers a Bulgarian-style espresso blend and a few single origins on bar. They also offer a variety of brew methods from AeroPress and V60 to Turkish coffee. The small downtown location fills up around lunchtime and weekend mornings with people swinging by for a quick takeaway coffee or a longer chat with a friend. There is a second shop, called “Chucky’s Coffee Store,” outside the city center.
Chucky’s represents the old guard in the scene, a snapshot of where specialty coffee in Sofia began.
Chucky’s Coffee & Culture is located at ul. “Hristo Belchev” 29, 1000. Chucky’s Coffee Store is located at ul. “Kazbek” 61, 1680. Visit their official website and follow them on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
Fabrika Daga
Fabrika Daga, “Rainbow Factory” in English, also broke onto the craft scene in 2014. The name joins two concepts: “Daga,” meaning rainbow, a nod to the 1979–1992 beloved comix magazine of the same name, and “Fabrika” emphasizing their “we-make-it-ourselves-mindset.” Located close to the National Gallery of Art, the central location makes it easy to grab an espresso, latte, or brewed coffee while walking about the city or heading to work. The shop draws a large crowd at lunch and for brunch on the weekends. They serve up a number of Bulgarian classics all made in-house. Don’t let good food fool you; they are serious about coffee, too. A team of dedicated baristas pulls shots on a La Marzocco Linea Classic.
With first-time specialty coffee drinkers regularly walking in upon hearing rumors of fantastic coffee, Fabrika Daga has become a destination for people all over Bulgaria. After tasting the blend or one of the three single origins on bar, all provided by Dabov, these customers rarely leave disappointed.
Its constant process of evolution has made Fabrika Daga a must stop on a Sofia coffee tour.
Rainbow Factory is located at ул. Веслец 10, 1000. Follow them on Facebook.
