The ball was tossed to Katarina, who proved herself quite at ease during the first question, or at least that was what Sakura felt from her expression and tone –she seems so brave, I wish I could be like her! she thought to herself while admiring the interrogation of the purple-haired girl: with one word, Katarina seemed to have lure the attention of the silent captive, who suddenly regained the use of his tongue, blathering something about the identity of the students they presumably wanted to capture.

His voice cracked as his neck got in touch with the sharp blade of the Blue Lions student, quivering a little while continuing his speech: apparently, he was waiting for someone, since he mentioned a meeting spot, but what did it have to do with seminaries and trainings? Something was clearly missing and Sakura was even more perplexed than before; if he was speaking the truth, there was something that wasn’t written on the flier maybe or the whole seminary wasn’t exactly organized as they expected it to be.

Many thoughts furrowed the mind of the petite priestess, especially now that the couple have managed to seize the enemy and prove themselves quite worthy of doing an interrogation. Quite, since they still didn’t reach a full confession from the man with frozen hands and feet; they certainly had to push more, maybe risk with more specific questions, but who would take responsibility to further the interrogation with that mysterious man who claimed to be an instructor?

“If Katarina didn’t go at the ‘meeting spot’ that you mentioned.. it could have been anyone in her place?” her voice was low, but she took the courage to speak again, anticipating any possible reply from the hostage. “Sure. Whoever participate at the seminary” and he mentioned the thing that made the petite priestess realized that maybe it was all… staged? She wasn’t sure yet and as she exchanged a quick glance with Katarina, she swiftly returned her gaze on the man. “Is there someone else with you?” she carefully asked, pondering each word: it was clear now, questions were the key to actually understand the mystery behind those actions, “No, just me” the man replied, moving his hands a little as he probably started to feel the stinging grip of the ice.

The meeting spot.. Sakura paused the questions for a moment, trying her best to recall where exactly Katrina was attacked by that man, but in all honesty, the petite priestess was walking through the field, so she wasn’t aiming towards a precise direction in that moment. But Katarina might know..

“What training were you doing when you met this man, Katarina?”

The coldness and stillness of her companion did impress Sakura in a very positive way: she wasn’t sure about the interrogation and she has never done one in her whole life, but seeing how much confidence Katarina was showing off, certainly boosted the courage and self-assurance of the petite priestess. “Sure, I can do that again” she replied with a smile, wondering though why a criminal was begging for his freedom like that; it wasn’t that strange, but he seemed to be hiding something far more important than a mere misdeed.

With a simple gesture of her hands, she cast the spell again and the air around his hands got immediately chill, freezing and creating some sort of circular barrier around his wrists –done, he couldn’t move neither hands nor feet, but, he still could speak.

“Please, this is a mistake..!” he begged, aware of Katarina’s blade vicinity, but risking his throat to add something more, “This should be...the contrary!” the man admitted, eyeing both Katarina and Sakura with decision and fear at the same time, probably feeling the actual risk he was running into at the moment. Yet, something in Sakura’s mind flickered and she suddenly remembered something.

There was a flyer, a paper that introduced this course as something like a way to learn how to deal with interrogations, but why on earth did he started to run after Katarina then? That wasn’t clear and there was something definitely missing: maybe he kidnaped one of the instructors, took his place and pretended to be one of them just to ambush students and maybe kidnap them as well? That was huge, far more intricate and complex than Sakura could ever imagined, but… he was there now, crouched in front of them with both hands and legs frozen. He was incapacitated of kidnapping or fleeing –that was the perfect chance to learn how to interrogate someone..

“Why have you started running after this student?” the petite priestess started the interrogation, pointing out at Katarina as she referred to her as a student being run after. “You chased after her without saying a word about this-” she stated, but then she was abruptly interrupted by the captive.

“I had to! It’s part of the plan!” he shouted, staring to shiver a little due to the low temperature of their legs and hands. “You have to believe me” he continued, looking straight into her goldenish eyes. “I can say no more..” and he remained silent for a long moment, before one the girls spoke again.

“This is going nowhere, we need more information” Sakura made a perplexed expression, staring at the face of the fake instructor, and in the end she shifted her gaze towards Katarina: “What do you think?” she asked, resting her hand above her chin as she pondered about a possible way to get more information from him.

Let's begin the second list of my Bi-Annual New Manga Recommendations

First on our list is Get Away, Matsumoto! -100 days escape-: or as I like to call it, the combination Sports and Death Game Manga. After being framed for a murder, former competitive cyclist Matsumoto is now a fugitive on the run. The real killer promises to confess if Matsumoto can survive 100 days while following various rules and completing challenges along the way. Characters are very well written and the emotional storytelling is great. Matsumoto's catchphrase is Zoom Zoom which I love and say often. Action scene are phenomenally depicted. Its a manga I sprint to as soon as it's released. Currently at 16 chapters and comes out Fridays on Jump+

If you are looking for a wholesome goofy read, check out Taro Miyao Becomes A Cat Parent?!: Author Taro Miyao is gifted a cat. Initially hesitant but quickly falls in love with the little beast and begins to form the perfect "kingdom" for Niccolo (the cat) to thrive. Lots of reoccurring gags and quirky characters. Niccolo is drawn very cute (except for when he's going to the bathroom then hes depicted deadly serious) If you are a cat owner, you will likely have a good time with this one. Currently at 27 chapters and comes out Thursdays

DRUNK BULLET is set in prohibition era America. Soldier Gary got himself through WWI by looking forward to having a nice stiff drink when he returned only to find out, uh-oh no more alcohol. His search for his drink of choice ends up with him gaining a rag-tag group of misfits that travel across the US to try as many different forms of alcohol as they can find. 1920's US is an uncommon setting for a manga which is nice change of pace. The characters are all quirky and lovable. IMO the story is just the right amount of stupid for it to be fun but not too lighthearted as to take away the drama. Historical people also show up from time-to-time making me look up every character that is introduced. Currently at 22 chapters, check it out on Saturdays

Next up is Monocrhome Days: Child Art Prodigy turned Exceptional Office Worker, Hanaichi Fudo is roped into doing the backgrounds for his coworkers manga. He begins to fall back in love with his former passion as the two begin weaving a masterpiece. The characters are written great and are very expressive, I personally love the odd, unique way the mangaka draws faces. The art itself is okay but the mangaka goes all out on the backgrounds the protag draws, they are stunning. Only 9 chapters as of writing, but I am already incredibly invested in their journey, check it out on Saturday

The last and most recent manga I'll recommend is Syd Craft: Love Is A Mystery: Raised to follow of the family legacy of being a great detective, Syd Craft is at the top of his game and puts on a very serious professional act. Unfortunately he hates being a detective and would much rather be reading a romance story and falling in love, but mysteries keep popping up where ever he goes. The art is very cute. The contrast between Syd's detective persona and his inner monologue is refreshing. The story only has 5 chapters but it has a lot of potential. It's out on Sundays.
