Sakura blinked a few times, keeping her gaze on the stubborn little creature in front of her and she tilted her head ever so slightly as if trying to decipher an invisible language in its expression. When Pelleas began speaking, her eyes shifted to him, and she listened attentively—his calm tone and thoughtful words easing some of the worry that had started to form in her chest.
“I see...” she murmured, nodding gently: his suggestion made sense, and the sincerity in his voice struck a familiar chord within her –she could tell he was trying very hard to help, and she appreciated that deeply. “That must be it. Maybe... it really just doesn’t like the chickpeas” She offered him a small smile, tinged with both gratitude and amusement. Still, her gaze returned to the baby, now resting on its stomach, idly slapping the soft mat with its palms as though the act itself could convey its many unspoken opinions. Sakura's brow furrowed delicately.

“I remember—back at the castle, Mother sometimes said babies have... rhythms. Like, not just for sleeping or eating, but moods, too. That maybe they cry or fuss not because something is wrong, but because something is off” and she shifted slightly, placing the bowl aside and resting her hands in her lap. “We can’t expect it to tell us what’s wrong, so... we need to observe and guess, don’t we?”
There was a short pause as Sakura lowered her voice, looking pensively at the baby; the more she looked at it, the more she believed that this new task was becoming far more difficult than she thought –but luckily for her, the discouragement did last very short.
After few moments, she straightened her posture and glanced back at the other bowls. “Let’s try something different, like you said” and she reached for the second option—a purée of what looked like avocado—and gave it a thoughtful stir. “We’ll try each taste slowly and watch how they react. Maybe we’ll find the one that suits them best” and she turned to Pelleas again, her eyes bright with quiet determination. “And if not... well, we’ll keep trying until we figure it out. Like you said—it’s all trial and error, right?” her smile was sincere and despite the inexperience of both, they did seem to find some resourceful solutions to the problem. With a soft smile, she took the new spoonful and scooted forward again, gently calling to the baby in a sing-song voice, “Alright, little one. Round two~ Let’s see if this one’s better”
She actually expected nothing but defeat, once again.

"Sakura, there you are!" L'Arachel approaches with a hearty step and a smile. "I would be remiss not to visit you before the next bout is set to begin. I have heard you have fought quite well, albeit were eliminated early. I suppose your opponents heard tales of how fearsome you were in our first bout and knew they would not stand long with you on the field!" She gave Sakura a confident smile.
"I've come to visit you for two reasons! Well, three, if you consider visiting a friend one of them. The first one is to offer any potential healing you may need! I am aware the academy has got plenty of healers for this event, but it never hurts to offer more assistance, especially from one as brilliant as I!" A look of pride spreads on L'Arachel's face, initialy at herself, but then she gives an approving nod at Sakura herself.
"Speaking of brilliance, the second reason I have visited is to thank you! Your magnificent display of bow prowess during our first fight inspired me to pick up a bow for my second fight, and it would seem your skills had decided to lend themselves to me. Two of our three opponents were felled by my archery, and whilst one was with assistance, the other one was purely by my hand!" She decides to gracefully omit the part where combat glitter had gotten into her eyes. "My victory in this fight would not have been possible without the inspiration you have given me. So thank you, Sakura. I do believe we both have a lot to be proud of this year!" She punctuates her point with a triumphant laugh.
While roaming around the several medical tents, the sudden visit of L'Arachel certainly made the petite’s heart bursting with joy and warmth; the energy in her voice, the confidence in her stride—it was unmistakable, and it brought a surprised yet delighted smile to Sakura’s lips as she listened to her, each word more grand than the last. It was both humbling and overwhelming. Fearsome? Magnificent? Sakura felt her cheeks warm at the praise, her fingers tightening slightly around the fabric of her robes; she had fought as best she could, of course, but to think she had inspired someone—someone as radiant and skilled as L’Arachel—was almost too much to believe.
“I… I don’t know if I deserve such words” she stammered, voice soft but filled with sincerity. “But I am so happy to see you well. And… to know that I was able to help you, even in some small way” she replied with a genuine tone, sparkles of joy shimmering in her goldenish eyes; the idea of L’Arachel picking up a bow because of her, made Sakura’s heart swell with pride –not for herself, of course, but for the young cleric standing before her, whose strength shone in so many ways.
She gave a small, reverent bow, her smile gentle yet radiant. “To learn something new from you… that is a gift in itself. And if I could lend even a little strength to you, then I am grateful beyond words” and she lifted her gaze, her eyes shone with warmth. “But truly… I feel privileged to have fought beside you, L’Arachel. I hope we may continue to learn from each other”

“And of course, you are absolutely welcome to help whenever this tournament will finish” she didn’t forget her request, a gentle smile as she continued, “Your help is truly precious”

Between the fighting (that she has been disqualified from participating in, thanks to her early loss) and encountering familiar faces, Yuzu still feels a part of her soul incomplete for the day. No, it is not merely because she underperformed…her heart and mind should be at ease because of that detail. After some mulling over, she elects that she must feel down due to a lack of obligation or contribution.
While she does cheer for those who have bested her and her allies, none of it comes back to assist her own house at the end of the day. This ‘team spirit’...she thought to have had it when preparing for this contest, but in a flash it has simmered away. How can she bring retribution upon herself…?
The medical tents. Of course! Even without the proper magical prowess, surely she can offer aid in some of her allies’ times of ne-
“Oop-!”
Tragedy is resolved last-second when Yuzu doubles back from the medical tent’s flap, someone else attempting to exit at the same time. A girl with hair the color of blossoms - and a rather mature face in spite of their smaller stature. Before long, Yuzu feels caught in between her light pink eyes, though not in a terrible way.
“A-Apologies for the blockade, my lady,” Yuzu immediately bows with sincerity. “I only meant to enter the tents in attempt to aid those who are in need. Unlike me, a warrior who has nothing left to fight for the day.”
The samurai takes a moment to analyze the rest of the figure, observing her hands for any medical equipment. Eventually, she decides there is no harm in outright asking…save for some embarrassment from a misunderstanding.
“May I ask…are you committed to the same goal? Perhaps we may assist one another. I am Yuzu, and although I honor myself a samurai of Hoshido…I hope to assist this rebuilding monastery in any way that I can!”
Sakura barely had time to react before she nearly bumped into someone at the tent’s entrance; she let out a small gasp, taking a step back, her hands instinctively clutching at the sleeves of her robes. The other girl—taller, poised, with the air of a disciplined warrior—bowed immediately, her words carrying both formality and sincerity.
A samurai… from Hoshido?
Hoshido… It has been a while since she last walked its sunlit fields, since she listened to the gentle murmur of the rivers that wound through its land like silk threads in an intricate tapestry. The scent of cherry blossoms in full bloom, the soft rustling of shoji doors in the breeze, the distant sound of koto strings being plucked in quiet harmony—memories of home were vivid, yet fragile, like a lantern’s glow flickering in the night.
Sakura’s eyes widened slightly at the thought of it: her homeland was vast, but it wasn’t often she met another warrior from Hoshido outside its borders. And yet, here was someone who carried herself with all the honour and dedication she had come to associate with those who fought for their nation.
Yet, her initial surprise quickly melted into a warm smile. “Oh—please, there’s no need to apologize” she said gently, shaking her head. “I should have been more careful myself”
Yuzu’s words, however, struck a familiar chord –the feeling of wanting to help, of searching for a purpose beyond the battlefield. It was something Sakura understood deeply.
“I am Sakura” she introduced herself with a small bow in return, her voice kind yet firm. “And yes… I was just finishing tending to some of the injured. I may not be able to fight right now, but there are still many ways to help”

She hesitated for only a moment before adding, “If you would like, we can work together? Even without magic, a kind heart and willing hands can do a great deal.” Her smile grew, bright with encouragement. “And… it would be an honor to help alongside a samurai of Hoshido”
Did Yuzu recognize her? Not just as a healer, but as a princess of Hoshido? It was hard to say. There had been no formal address, no shift in demeanor—only sincerity. But those thoughts could wait: for now, it was enough to meet as equals, two daughters of Hoshido standing side by side, finding purpose beyond the battlefield.

It pleases her to see Sakura again— Not as Black Eagle versus Golden Deer, but as peers. Despite the bustling crowds, she carves a path towards whom she needs to speak with.
As she walks up to her in the medical tents, Edelgard opts to skip right to the point. When their eyes meet, she makes hers an envelope of warmth. It feels different, but she does not mind. Perhaps she can do it again: "Lady Sakura. How are you faring?"
She has no stray bow pieces she had crushed to present, but she finds that is not needed. Not at all. "I wanted you to know that I meant what I said. You are skilled. I've no doubt you possess abilities myself and others lack. That's all."
Sakura’s eyes widened in surprise, but the moment she met Edelgard’s gaze, warmth bloomed in her chest: there was no battlefield between them now, no clash of Houses—only the quiet understanding of two girls who had come to respect each other and appreciate each other company.
“Lady Edelgard…” she murmured, her fingers curling into her skirt; she could still recall their last meeting, the intensity of battle, the way Edelgard’s words had stayed with her even after her defeat. And now, here she was again—not as a rival, but as a friend.
The praise made her cheeks flush and she lowered her gaze for a moment, gathering her thoughts. Then, she smiled, bright and sincere. “You are too kind… but your words mean a great deal to me. I’m truly grateful.”
A pause, hesitation flickered across her face before she pressed on, voice laced with a quiet hope. “I only wish we could have met under different circumstances. Perhaps, next time… we could talk somewhere more peaceful?” she fidgeted slightly, then dared to look up again. “Maybe over a tea?”

There was something earnest, almost shy, in the way she asked, but it was genuine—she wanted to know Edelgard beyond the battlefield, beyond their respective Houses. As friends, in the truest sense.

Sakura barely had time to process the dazzling display of Etie’s magic before the battlefield shifted once more. The shimmer of enchanted swords still danced in her vision and it was beautifully shining in her goldenish eyes, but reality came rushing back as a presence loomed before her—elegant, composed, and utterly formidable.
Edelgard
The elegant princess moved with a seamless grace that Sakura could only admire, her movements deliberate, her focus unwavering; there was no malice in her stance, no unnecessary aggression—only the firm, disciplined hand of a true leader.Sakura tried her best to avoid the incoming attack, tried to fight past the hesitation in her heart, but before she could even let even react, Edelgard’s strike found its mark. The moment the lance connected, Sakura felt the force ripple through her, a final blow that sealed her fate in the match.
Edelgard 5/5HP hits Sakura 2.5/5HP with Flame Lance [Roll: 13; -(2.0 + 0.5) = -2.5HP]. Sakura 0/5HP Sakura has been defeated!
Her breath caught as she stumbled, but then—
"Lady Sakura."
The voice that reached her was not one of triumph, nor was it dismissive. It was steady, resolute, and, most of all, respectful.
"You fought valiantly. Of this, I hold no doubts. Remember that well."
A warmth spread through Sakura’s chest, a mixture of gratitude and admiration swelling within her; even as she fell, she had not been cast aside. She had been seen. Acknowledged. Her lips quivered before curling into a soft smile, eyes shining with something deeper than mere exhaustion. “T-Thank you, Lady Edelgard…” she murmured, bowing her head as best she could despite her weary frame. “Your kindness… it means so much”

Though the battle had ended for her, she would not leave in silence and gathering the last of her strength, she turned toward her allies, voice ringing with determination. “Etie! Kagetsu! Don’t give up! You can do this!” her voice was chirping, but her tone was genuine and pure and as she concluded, she stepped away from the battlefield, her heart still racing, not from defeat, but from the lingering weight of Edelgard’s words.
The medical tents awaited her, as well as a familiar sense of purpose: she had fought her hardest, and now, she would do what she did best—tend to those in need.
Even in loss, there was always something to be gained.

Sakura had entered this match with an open heart and steady resolve, ready to support her new allies as best she could, while she had never met the ginger girl before today, she was glad to see the familiar face of Kagetsu (now she got his name, luckily): their energy and skill made her feel reassured, and she was eager to do her part.
The Black Eagles, however, were a different story: among them stood Edelgard—an emblem of elegance and determination, someone Sakura had come to admire over past encounters and seeing her now, standing tall with unwavering confidence, only reinforced the impression Sakura had held of her all along. It felt almost… unnatural to face her as an opponent, but this was a battle, and for the sake of her team, she had to try.
Yet, while she actually found amusing the way Ferdinand and Kagetsu were yelling at each other, she barely had time to react to a sharp impact from another enemy, followed by a jolt of pain through her side.
“Ah—!” she staggered, her breath catching as the force of the knight’s lance nearly knocked her off balance: it was a strong, clean hit—not enough to take her down, but certainly enough to make her feel it and her grip tightened instinctively around her bow as she lifted her gaze toward him… ?
There was something oddly familiar about him, but the memory remained just out of reach, slipping through her mind like sand through her fingers. Had they met before? She wasn’t sure, but his casual “'pologies, little Miss!” made her blink in surprise and so she winced, but despite the lingering ache, she managed a small, uncertain smile. “I-It’s alright” she murmured, steadying herself.
No time to hesitate.
She forced herself to focus, shifting her stance and drawing her bowstring taut. She needed to strike back, and Edelgard was the clear choice—her commanding presence and strategic mind made her the biggest threat to their team. If Sakura could land even a single hit, it might tip the balance.
But as she released the arrow, something inside her faltered. The shot went wide.
Sakura 2.5/5HP misses Edelgard 5/5HP with Shining Bow [Roll: 4 - 2 = 2; 0HP]. Edelgard 5/5HP
Sakura’s breath hitched, her heart sinking. Was it her lingering pain? The unfamiliar weight of the shining bow? Or was it something else—something deeper? A part of her that simply couldn't bring herself to strike at Edelgard with full intent? She admired the young woman, after all. How could she so easily aim to wound someone she saw as an emblem of grace and strength?
She bit her lip, frustration creeping in, but quickly pushed it down; this was no time for doubt, even if she had missed, there was still more she could do. She had to stay strong—for her allies, for herself.
Taking a steadying breath, she turned her gaze to her side. The ginger girl was up next apparently; Sakura had barely fought alongside her before, but she could already sense the sheer determination radiating from her. Before anything else might happen, she whispered a quiet, “You can do it” under her breath, hopeful that their team could regain momentum.

After their first battle, L’Arachel makes sure to seek out her pink haired ally. Once she finally finds her, she gives her a smile as she bows in greeting. “I could not let us go into the next round without letting you know what a splendid job you have done! Not only were you an incredibly skilled warrior, but your encouragement on the battlefield was invaluable. It was absolutely wonderful fighting by your side!”
While being in one of the medical tents, Sakura had been gently pressing a damp cloth to her arm when she heard footsteps approach; as she looked up, she barely had time to react before L’Arachel’s radiant presence filled the tent, her voice ringing with the same energy and confidence that had carried them through battle and her words struck Sakura straight in the heart -praise had never come easily to her, especially since she was used to stand in the background, supporting from afar. But here was L’Arachel, an incredible fighter so dazzling and bold, speaking to her as an equal, calling her skilled, calling her valuable.
Her breath hitched for a moment, overwhelmed by the warmth spreading through her chest. Then, her hands clasped together, a bright, almost giddy smile lighting up her face.
“L’Arachel… I-I don’t know what to say…!” her voice trembled with quiet excitement. “You were incredible! I never imagined I’d get to fight beside someone so strong and brave! Just watching you gave me the courage to try harder, to believe in myself!" her grip on her cloth tightened, and she lowered her gaze, cheeks dusted pink. “To hear you say that about me… it means more than I can ever put into words”

Taking a small breath, she finally looked up, determination shining in her eyes as she continued, “I’m so glad we fought together. And… if you’ll have me, I’d love to stand by your side again" her smile was softer now, but no less bright—a quiet promise that, no matter how the next battle unfolded, she would fight with all her heart, by her side.

Sakura gasped when she saw L’Arachel take a hit, instinctively gripping her bow tighter; she knew this was just a spar, but still—seeing her allies endure pain made her heart ache. Yet, even through the injury, L’Arachel stood tall, unwavering, as dazzling as ever. And then—her name. L’Arachel of Rausten. A name declared with such pride, such certainty, like a hero from one of the tales her mother used to read to her as a child. Sakura’s heart swelled. She clenched her fist close to her chest, a spark of warmth igniting in her.
She was counting on her too!
Sakura had never considered herself particularly strong, nor brave, but here—here, standing beside warriors who fought with all their heart—she wanted to be. She would be. If L’Arachel could charge forward with such confidence, then she, too, could stand her ground and let her arrows fly true.
She watched in awe as L’Arachel rushed forward, fists striking with a force so mighty that even the enemy must have felt it and when she landed the hit, not just once but twice, a burst of exhilaration surged through Sakura. "You’re amazing!" she cried out, barely containing the excitement bubbling in her chest. "Truly! I—I’ll do my best too, so let’s both keep going!" and her hands moved instinctively, pulling back her bowstring. No hesitation. No doubt. Just the steady, unshakable determination to shine beside her allies.
Sakura 3/5HP hits Alear (M) 1/6HP with Iron Bow [Roll: 17, -2 + 0.5 = -1.5HP; Alear (M) 0/6HP] Alear is defeated!
The soft thud of his body made the petite priestess almost regret her action, but the enthusiasm did not falter, turning towards L’Arachel as to receive a sign of approval: she did her best in this first round and she was so proud of herself. Her hands still trembled a little while her gaze shifted towards her other ally, a still unknown person sadly, she didn’t have the chance to ask for his name yet. But she would soon.

The battle surged on, a clash of steel and willpower, but for a moment, Sakura felt so small: her breath hitched as she saw the brutal force of the tall man’s strike landing on the poor girl next to her, the resounding impact sending shivers down her spine. He was so strong—too strong. Was there anything she could do against that kind of power?
Her fingers trembled around the bowstring and for a split second, doubt crept in. But then, a familiar voice echoed in her head, lullabying her fears and making the hoshidian princess believe in herself once again; Takumi’s voice echoed not just in her head, but also in her heart, soothing words that just a brother could lend to give the strengthen a little sister. Believe in yourself.
She inhaled, steadying herself, and refocused: the enemy with a peculiar hairstyle was still struggling against her companion’s speed and if she could just keep up the pressure, maybe – just maybe – she could turn the tide and contribute to her team. She wasn’t Takumi, but she was still his sister, still a Hoshidan princess, still Sakura, a girl who put all her intentions and struggles to support and help others. And she would not let her allies down. Drawing back her bowstring, she found her mark again, the young boy was her favourite enemy by now. A deep breath, a steady hand, then—release.
Sakura 3/5HP hits Alear (M) 2.5/6HP with Iron Bow [Roll: 14, -1.5 + 0.5 - 0.5 = -1.5HP; Alear (M) 1/6HP]
The arrow sailed through the air, striking true. She gasped, heart racing, barely believing her own accuracy. If Takumi had seen that shot, he’d have been so proud of her. I really do hope he's proud of me.. she thought to herself as she enthusiastically stared in front of her, her grip tightened around her bow, while a new fire lighting in her eyes. She then shifted her gaze towards the other girl, a gentle smile as she encouraged her.

“I’m counting on you Miss…” she stopped, feeling miserably embarrassed to not knowing her name at this point of the battle. “Introductions aren’t optimal here but… I’m Sakura” and she gave a small bow with her head, before the other girl could reply and react.

Sakura could feel the energy of her team, and it made her heart soar: everyone was fighting with such skill and enthusiasm, and though she had taken a harsh hit earlier, she refused to let it slow her down –she was here to do her part, to stand beside her allies, and to prove that even someone like her—a healer, a priestess—could make a difference.
With a determined nod, she pulled back her bowstring once more, eyes locked on the guy with funny hair (but she indeed found his hair very stylish): their previous attack pattern was working, so why stop now? She steadied her breath, aimed, and— hit.
Sakura 3/5HP hits Alear (M) 4/6HP with Iron Bow [Roll: 9 + 0 = 9, -1.5 + 0.5 - 0.5 = -1.5HP; Alear (M) 2.5/6HP]
Her arrow found its mark again, and a small cheer bubbled up in her chest; she wasn’t as strong as some of the others, but she was hitting her target, and that was enough.
"We’re doing great!!" she called out to her teammates, her usual shyness momentarily overcome by the excitement of battle. Then, in a softer voice, she also added toward Alear. “It wasn’t personal—just part of the match!” and she tilted her head in a sweet expression, hoping that it would easier the tension in between the two of them. After all, her hands were still trembling slightly, a reminder that she wasn’t as sturdy as the other students and teachers around her, but she tightened her grip on her bow –she could still feel the sting of Matthias’ axe, but she wasn’t backing down. Not yet.

Sakura had always loved these tournaments. The thrill of competition, the chance to meet new faces—each battle was like a festival of skill and spirit, a place where friendships were forged alongside rivalries. Even now, despite the unfamiliarity of her teammates and opponents, she still felt that same excitement bubbling in her chest; her companion seemed quite prepared, especially the young boy that attacked almost first, following the beautiful lady with greenish hair.
But—ow.
One of the enemy suddenly dashed forward and his axe struck hard, and for a moment, her body wavered: the sting of the hit sent a wave of weakness through her limbs, her breath hitching as she fought to steady herself –she had been hit plenty of times before, but that didn’t make it any easier.
Still, she refused to let this battle slip away. She wasn’t just here to smile and befriend people—she was here to fight. She planted her feet, ignoring the ache, and drew back her bowstring with newfound resolve –if she was going down, she’d make sure they remembered her strength.
"I won't lose that easily!" and with a deep breath, she released the arrow, watching as it shot straight for her target.
Sakura 3/5HP activates Heavy Draw and hits Alear (M) 6/6HP [Roll: 19 + 2 = 21, -2.5 + 0.5 = -2HP; Alear (M) 4/6HP]
Her arrow struck true, and despite the pounding in her with iron bowchest, a small, determined smile found its way to her lips.
"Aw... I did it!" but she immediately stopped, hand reaching to cover her mouth in a sorrowful expression. “Sorry, I hope I didn't hurt you that bad”

Sakura swallowed down her nerves, pressing her hands together as if in prayer. She had expected Xander to be cautious, perhaps even reluctant to let her accompany him –but his trust in her, his words of reassurance, filled her with a quiet warmth. He believed in her strength –that alone gave her courage. She knew that Xander was a very valiant knight, as well as a courageous man and noble lord and exactly like her, she knew that he wouldn’t turn his back on requests for help.
“Thank you, Lord Xander” she murmured, offering him a small, earnest smile. “I… I know it will be dangerous, but I won’t let that stop me.” Even if her hands trembled, even if unease curled deep in her chest, she would not stand idly by while people suffered: it was part of her helpful nature and she couldn’t help but feel hopeless in case she wouldn’t manage to lend a hand.
Few hours passed as night fell over the village, while the air grew unnaturally still; the usual distant chatter of townsfolk faded, leaving only the occasional flickering of torches and the heavy silence of anticipation. With Xander’s knights prepared, they began their patrol, boots crunching softly against the dirt paths: Sakura moved alongside Xander, clutching her small satchel of herbs and remedies. Every so often, she would kneel to collect ingredients—pale moonlight catching on the delicate leaves and petals she carefully plucked.
But something was off.
She paused, brow furrowing as she straightened; the wind had stilled completely, the air thick with something she couldn’t quite name –a prickling sensation crawled up her spine and she turned her head sharply.
Shadows. Moving where they shouldn’t.
“L-Lord Xander…” Her voice was hushed, uncertain and the grip on her staff and the satchel tightened as she instinctively moved closer to him. “Did you see that?”
The figures were just at the edge of her vision—shifting between the trees, their outlines barely distinguishable from the darkness itself, watching and waiting.

A quiet gasp left her lips at the sudden commotion, her hands instinctively clasping tighter in prayer before she turned toward the source of the sound. What she saw made her breath hitch.
“…Azura?”
Sakura blinked, half-wondering if her eyes were playing tricks on her. It had been so long. So much had happened. And yet, there she was—the same gentle grace in her movements, the same unmistakable blue hair cascading down her back. A figure so familiar, so dear to her heart that she had once thought of her as an older sister; they weren’t actually related, but to Sakura, Azura has been so dear and close that it was almost common and spontaneous to treat her like a sisterly figure. Sakura had spent much of her time looking up to Azura—admiring her quiet strength, finding comfort in her presence when the world felt too overwhelming. She had always been there, a steadying force, someone she could trust. And yet… something was different now.
The panic in Azura’s expression didn’t go unnoticed, nor did her clear attempt to slip away. That wasn’t like her at all. Sakura had expected surprise, maybe even joy at their reunion—but not this. Not the way Azura’s eyes darted away, as if she were ashamed, as if she were afraid –but of what? The past certainly gave them much to think about by now, but the present was something new, something unfamiliar yet quiet and calming compared to past events.
Sakura’s heart clenched and she quickly stood, her voice hushed yet urgent. “Azura, wait!” her voice was chirping, she hesitated for a moment before stepping forward, her hands trembling slightly at her sides. “Please don’t go… It’s really you, isn’t it?”

There was no anger, no blame—only quiet hope shining in her gentle eyes. But beneath that hope, a lingering unease took root. Why did it feel like Azura was a ghost of the sister she once knew?

Sakura barely had a moment to gather her bearings before a voice behind her made her flinch. A sharp inhale caught in her throat as she spun around, but the tension in her shoulders eased the instant she saw Ena standing there. Relief flickered in her chest—at least she wasn’t alone in this strange place. Still, that comfort did little to chase away the unease curling around the edges of her mind.
The manor stretched before them in eerie stillness, identical to the one they had just left, yet fundamentally wrong. The chandeliers hanging from the ceiling cast a dim, flickering light that didn’t quite reach the corners of the room. Shadows stretched unnaturally, almost twisting, as though shifting ever so slightly when they weren’t looking. The air itself carried an oppressive weight, thick with something unseen but undeniably present, pressing against her skin like a warning.
“This place… it looks the same, but something is wrong” Sakura’s voice was hushed, careful, as if speaking too loudly would stir something lurking just out of sight. “It’s too quiet… and the air feels strange” she quietly added, then she took a step forward, her shoes barely making a sound against the polished marble floor. The silence was deafening, amplifying every small movement they made. No distant voices, no creaking of the building settling, nothing but the faint sound of her own breath.
It felt unnatural.
Her gaze shifted to the grand staircase ahead, its towering presence splitting into two paths—one leading upwards, vanishing into the dimly lit corridors above, and the other descending into shadowed depths below. But which way led to the truth? Sakura hesitated. If they truly were inside the painting, did that mean they had stepped into a memory? An illusion? Or something far more dangerous?
She turned toward Ena, searching for any sign of reassurance, but she knew hesitation wouldn’t help them now. With a steadying breath, she reached into a small pouch at her side, fingers grazing the familiar texture of a protective charm she had brought with her: it was a simple talisman, imbued with a faint protective energy, meant to ward off dark magic and malevolent forces. Holding it close, she closed her eyes briefly, letting her senses stretch outward, searching for anything—any lingering magic, any presence beyond their own, any clue as to what this place truly was.
Roll: 1d20 = 10
The charm in her hand felt cool against her palm, its faint energy pulsing softly as she focused. For a moment, the silence stretched on, heavy and unyielding. Then— a subtle shift. A chill ran up Sakura’s spine as the talisman gave the slightest tremor, a flicker of energy that barely reached the edges of her fingertips before fading into nothingness. It wasn’t a strong reaction—nothing immediate —but it was there. A lingering presence. Something unseen, hidden just beneath the surface.
Her eyes snapped open, and she glanced around quickly, half-expecting something to have changed. But the room remained as still as before, the shadows just as long, the air just as heavy. She swallowed. “There’s… something here,” she murmured, keeping her voice low. “Not right here, maybe, but close”

Sakura blinked, momentarily stunned by the unexpected yet gentle gesture: the warmth of his touch still lingered against her hair, and as the primrose sat nestled behind her ear, she couldn’t help but feel as if something delicate and precious had just taken root between them. They were just mere co-worker, a simple yet pleasurable acquaintance that was just bloomed, like the flower they have found in the church.
Her fingers brushed over the petals tentatively, as if to confirm it was really there, and a soft, breathless laugh escaped her lips—light, almost like a whisper carried by the wind. “No, please don’t apologize…” she murmured, shaking her head slightly, though careful not to displace the flower. “It’s… very sweet of you” her cheeks glowed with warmth, but she did not lower her gaze this time. Instead, she looked at him, truly looked, and felt a quiet certainty settle in her chest; she wasn’t sure about the nature of this feel, but she was sure that it quietly grew stronger by the time they were inside the building, seeking together for something unpredictable and mysterious… but actually real and concrete. They had found the primrose, but more than that—they had found something else, something unspoken yet deeply understood between the two of them.
She clasped her hands together gently, as if holding onto the moment itself. “I think… this is the answer we were searching for. Even if we don’t know for certain whether fate brought us here or if it was simply chance, does it truly matter?” her lips curled into a soft, almost knowing smile. “Because right now, I feel like we were meant to find this together”

She carefully chose her words, but at the same time, she decided to follow what she was feeling inside her chest, giving word to what she thought it could be a very pleasant sensation –as well as an incredible wonder in the discovery of such a rare and difficult to find flower.
The abrupt movement of his hand almost made the petite girl flinched as she still was concentrated on the face of her companion, baffled and amazed at the same time due to the tenderness leaking from his words; his innocence was so aloud that even if she didn’t mean to do it, he still felt guilty for having proceeded in their connection, for more than few moments.
“Oh, no, please don’t think about it..” she tried to make him feel more at ease, eyes following his movements as he turned to watch the primrose. “You did nothing wrong” she simply stated as she rested her gaze on the flower as well, feeling the pureness of his soul as he observed the cute blossom slightly trembling due to some gust of wind coming from the open entrance door.
Perhaps for as skeptical as I am, it’s you who has the magic between us.
His words hit her heart like an arrow, not sharp though, but delicate and passionate, as if he was tenderly caressing her cheek with a soft hand, fingers brushing against the corner of her face, feeling the heat coming from her chest as her face burst of red. She felt lost and wordless for few moments, then a breath and she eventually managed to speak again.
“The legend of the primrose could be childish for many, but for me… it is true” she spoke with a low tone, reaching out again towards the small leaves attached on the stem of the flower, grazing the surface of them with her fingers. “It connects those who believe, those who seek, those who love” she felt somewhat romantic, somewhat puzzled, but she was sure about one thing: their meeting was to some extent intentional, wanted by fate. Few days were passed, but the more the time she spent with him, the more she felt like they knew each other since many years by now. Their connection was magical.

“Do you think that this moment was… somehow predestined?” she timidly asked, shifting her gaze towards his face, actually scared about the answer that it would come.

Sakura lifted her head at Ryoma’s question, her hands still gently cradling one of the tea bags she had just prepared. A soft breath left her lips, carrying the ghost of a laugh. “You’re right… Drying them out properly would usually take days” she turned the little bag between her fingers, watching the faintly shimmering remnants of her spell fade from the delicate fabric. “But… I learned a way to make it faster”
She set the tea bag down beside the others and folded her hands neatly in her lap, her gaze drifting somewhere beyond the flickering fire. “Back home, when I was just a kid, I used to watch the palace herbalists at work: I was always so fascinated by how they handled the ingredients—so careful, so patient” her lips curled into a small, wistful smile. “But I didn’t have that patience. I wanted to help right away, to do something useful. So I practiced. I read every book I could find, listened to every lesson… And eventually, I learned a way to speed up the process” She gestured lightly to the neatly dried leaves now resting in their little bags. “With just a bit of ice magic, the moisture is drawn out quickly and evenly. It’s not the same as letting them dry naturally, but it works” she lastly said, sketching a calm and soothing smile, first at him, then at the fire.
Her eyes flickered to the fire he had built, the warmth of the flames contrasting the cool touch of magic still lingering on her fingertips. “We never would have done this at home,” she echoed his earlier words, her tone quieter now, more thoughtful. “Not like this. There was always someone to do things for us. Servants to prepare the tea, knights to watch over us, advisors to tell us where we needed to be and what we needed to do…” and despite she knew that talking about the past wouldn’t do any better, she couldn’t help but take refugee inside the warmth memories of their childhood: they were nobles, they were crowned heads, so every little aspects of their lives was taken under control, secure and protected, even the most significant experience between siblings were confined and secluded.
She trailed off, her fingers lightly tracing the rim of the wicker basket. Then, after a pause, she continued, her voice softer. “But I think that’s why this feels so special” she looked at Ryoma then, her expression gentle but firm. “Because it’s just us. Just brother and sister. No duties, no expectations… Just a simple afternoon, making tea together.” She has just realized it: they were finally able to share a pure moment of joy, a pure moment of solitude together, a pure moment of them being themselves and nothing else –no prince, no princess, no royalties, no formalities. Just the two of us.
A breeze rustled the clearing, carrying the scent of chamomile and fennel through the air. Sakura inhaled deeply, savouring the moment before reaching for the teapot. “The water should be ready soon,” she said, her smile returning, tinged with nostalgia but warm nonetheless. “I hope you’ll like the tea”
