i have a bit of an issue that maybe you could give some insight onto?

so my school has a fun day next week where we can all dress up in costumes and play games and hang out with our friends all day (its our school feast day), and the theme is 'work it' where you can dress up as your dream job or what you want to be when you grow up!

so my friend group decided we were gonna go as a 3 person rock/pop band! its going to be so fun, we have bright pink inflatable electric guitars and mics!

but my problem is that i dont know what to wear bc i have to dress up as a popstar and i have no idea... my friends are really confident in their outfits and their normal style is very like, tank tops/miniskirts etc, which is basically the vibe of the popstar band yk?

but im not as confident in a tank top or a short skirt though.

ive been trying to develop my style and its very all over the place, i kinda hate it... but i just have no idea what to wear? i dont even know what type of clothes i like to wear in general so maybe this is the root of the issue

anyways that was a very long rant im sorry it was so long and this is probably really hard to answer :(

ok so FIRST OF ALL before i say anything !!! i just wanna say the number one most important thing in this whole situation is that youre comfortable and feel confident in what you're wearing! the name of the event is a fun day but it wont be very fun if you feel insecure the whole time 😣 your friends are going to be comfortable in the clothes they're gonna be wearing and you deserve to feel the same! + if theyre your friends im sure they wouldn't mind :)

you can totally look like a popstar without a tank top and miniskirt! the examples/fixes im gonna give below will depend on what you feel comfortable with, feel free to modify as you see fit!!!!

tank top -> baby tee

above is my queen maisie peters certified pop star 😋 i feel like tank tops and baby tees give off the same vibe, not sure why but its good because if you're uncomfortable with the amount of arm a tank top shows, that can be fixed with a baby tee!! you can also wear a more oversized tee like maisie in the second pic if youre uncomfortable with how tight a baby tee is!!

2. long sleeves!! or a cute jacket

i considered grouping this w the first one since its the same thing just long sleeves if youre completely against showing any arm and/or you'd be cold (since you said its winter)!! i cant find any examples of artists wearing long sleeved tops unfortunately i think thats cz they probs dont get cold when performing on stage for hours 😫 BUT YOU CAN ALSO WEAR A CUTE JACKET!!! i dont like to wear jackets that much since i find them overstimulating n claustrophobic if that makes sense, but yk who does !??!

ms brina herself 😋 i LOVE her first outfit w the blue n white leather jacket so much! i feel like it combines the harsh and soft in one piece of clothing rly well ☺️ im gonna be saying this a lot throughout this post, but find fun jackets like sabrina's above !!!

3. tights!!! bonus points if theyre fun

if you still wanna wear a skirt, you can always wear tights if youre uncomfortable with the amount of leg a short skirt shows !!! i feel like some star patterned ones would be SO fun for the pop/rockstar theme as well 😫 you can even get coloured tights to match some other aspect of your oufit 😋

ms olivia rodrigo is almost always wearing fun tights!!! i couldn't find good pics but just look at some concert vids of her and you'll probs find lots of examples 😚

4. skirts come in all lengths 😊

we are so blessed to have skirts in all sorts of lengths on this planet!!! if you're still uncomfortable with the idea of wearing a mini skirt, wear a longer one! I LOVEEE maxi skirts so much i have a crazy amount of them in my wardrobe 😫

i feel like maxi skirts come in a lot of fun styles and cuts and patters n wtv, so theres lots for you to choose from! you could make it the centre of attention and wear something like the first one, or you could wear something simple like the second!!! if you do wear a maxi skirt id def pair it with some chunky black boots to add to the rock/popstar edge like in the first pic, or maybe even a chunky belt !! belt doesnt have to be on properly u can wear it the way they did in the 2000s (idk what this would look like tho so forgive me if its atrocious

i know shes wearing a dress in these pics but im using it as an example of having your legs completely covered and still serving popstar!!! her black boots are a VERY good example of that too, def broke the softness of the pink dress and gave her a little edge ☺️

5. pants !!! bonus points if theyre fun (again)

if youre 100% sure you dont wanna wear a skirt at all, then wear pants! just like the tights, i'd def try to get some fun ones 😋 using maisie peters as an example again LOL her outfits are perfect for this

general style tips ⋆˚｡⋆୨୧˚

okay so this is something im still working on myself LOL i'll try to give some tips based on what i've gathered!!

pinterest is your best friend. ive been hating it lately because its only been showing fugly pics for my boards BUT YOU CAN ALWAYS FIND CUTE OUTFIT INSPO ON PINTEREST!!! think about outfits other people have worn that you've liked & search up either more outfit inspo of them (if theyre a celeb/famous) or whatever aesthetic that happens to be part of !! make a style board and add a few pics you like and eventually pin will recommend some things you might also like 😋 since you said you dont know what kind of outfits you like, i feel like looking at outfits you've liked on other people is a good start 😊 try to look for people with similar features as you as well:)

think about outfits you've felt your best in and outfits you've felt your worst in!! once you've got them in your head, think about why you felt that way about those outfits/what aspects you particularly liked, and find outfits and pieces with similar aspects (using pinterest again). i feel like a lot of us dont notice we're wearing an outfit we aren't comfy in until we take a bit of time to think LOL. for example, i rly dont like wearing black unless its jeans/pants or a skirt (basically if its not the main focus of an outfit LMAO) i feel like every time i wear black as the main focus it doesn't rly match w my personality and i rly like when my outfit and how i feel on the inside match!! so i just completely eliminated black tops from my wardrobe LMAO i have a few ones that r exceptions, but you will rarely ever catch me in black!

think about what suits your complexion/features too! theres a lot of stuff about soft winter cool autumn on tt but i dont mean that LOL i find it confusing 😭 literally j wear things of diff colours n see if it suits you or washes you out! id recommend having a family member or a friend weigh in on this too since sometimes other people see things you dont 🤔 bonus points if this person is very blunt/honest since youre guaranteed the truth w them !!! when i was younger i was obsessed w wearing red but it looks HORRID on me like idk what's in the colour red that just completely washes me out and makes me look like a zombie 😭 luckily my mom brought this to my attention and now u will never catch me in red either !! ive also been told i look good in whites/creams, baby pink and baby blue, so i try to incorporate those into my wardrobe more!

remember that its okay for your style not to fit into a specific aesthetic:) i feel like these days theres so much emphasis placed on the aesthetic youre part of, but i find thats not really realistic since we're so complex as humans you cant j fit one person into a single aesthetic 😭 dont worry if you feel like your outfits are too different from each other or wtv, what's important is that you feel confident in all of them! your closet is a YOU aesthetic, not vanilla girl or clean girl or downtown girl or anything 😊 use the aesthetics for inspo, dont force yourself to emulate them 100%

do a wardrobe detox!! i do this every once in a while LOL make a pile of yes, nos and maybes! once youre done, look thru the yes's and nos and think about why they ended up there 🤔 ALSO make sure to donate your clothes or give them to your sibling (i give a lot of things to my sister LMAO) or smth pls dont j throw them away because so many people are in need of clothes esp now that the weather is getting colder !!!!

remember that this will take time! clothes aren't cheap most of the time, and unless youre very rich you cant just buy a whole new wardrobe in one day 😫 embrace the journey of finding your style!!! imagine yourself as a fashion student in a movie if that helps LOL and be proud of yourself for taking this step! definitely start with buying pieces that are more versatile and can be paired with multiple things so you can rewear them a lot while fixing up your wardrobe! 💘

favourite colour: phthalo green! namely why it's a very core part of the argos suit. they like wearing blacks/greys/dark greens and blues, those tend to lean into the more professional/conservative look they're angling for as a mob step, but i'm sure if they weren't having to worry abt staying lowkey in civilian cover they'd love to dress up in more bright colours, jewel tones n such. as for now, most of that's reserved for when they're juno (pre-debut) and argos.

their cuckoo training's given them an aversion to opera and ballet, given those featured heavily in the functions they were meant to infiltrate as a cuckoo, sometimes as a dancer themselves. but! musicals and plays, for sure. The COSTUMES. THE EMOTIONS. tia elena probably invites sura to come with her one time and they're hooked (i want to believe wicked's in the fh verse, they'd be all over that. misunderstood outcast tarred as a villain? YEAH. post-hb it'd have even more resonance; no good deed is SO fitting cos of past-self rivalry. defying gravity, too.) then there's 70s-80s rock, esp queen (ofc the lead singer is the purrcury's namesake), sharing the same taste in music as pelayo and joes lol.

they're a classics/shakespeare nerd too, (hence why sura's puppet was named juno), and they'd especially enjoy viola's genderfuckery in twelfth night (and honestly, the mental image of argos going "it's SHAKESPEARE you HEATHEN" after quoting something from one of the tragedies at a clueless hero is too funny to pass up. they're just bringing some class to the villain scene.)

they like movies, though they do find it a little less engaging w/o the minds to read. a good few hollywood golden age, but animated ones are probably their favourite thanks to themmy. they binged a bunch of cartoon movies together, and lilo and stitch is their favourite cos of the BIG relate to lilo being a weird autistic girl and stitch being an escaped experiment that was made to be evil, but learned to love,,,,,

favorite person: pre-hb, it was a tie between ortega, tia elena (she nicknamed sura pollito, and she's the Only person sura will allow to call them that) and, as expected, themmy, in no small part due to the fact they all kept feeding sura. and he kept coming back like a stray cat lol. they made sura feel safe and loved and valued, and not just a little kid. themmy (in my hc) being openly autistic especially helped sura be less insecure about how young he came off, especially when the farmhands infantilised the regenes so much (and by extension, learning to mask and suppress his autistic traits). part of hiding his face (and lowering his voice) was so people would take him seriously, cos he was well aware how babyish he looked. it was a huge relief not to do that anymore, or at least do it less.

it's a tie between her and chen now, to the surprise of both sura and chen, given how much friction they used to have lol. turns out that they have a lot in common (better at bonding with animals instead of people), more so than before hb, of course. (i am also pushing my autistic chen agenda, and that was part of the friction between the two was that step was trained to understand allistic inclined people. chen operates on different rules. but also given chens scepticism about the suspiciously well-trained young vigilante thing, i'll give him a pass for that too.)

rat king opinions: SURA ADORES THE GIRLS. sorta filling the void fred did, but not quite. i like to think of them as like… a telepathic equivalent of a service dog. if sura wasn't a mob step, they'd be a lot more dependent on them for interaction, but as is, they're a reliable supportive presence that sura knows will always have its back. it's nice to have another telepath to communicate with! routinely gives them mental scritches and treats for being the best telepathic rat brains in the whole world. they deserve it!!(and an added bonus, that also involves some self-care for herself. can't disappoint/let them down. it's a win/win.)

took a break from giffing for a hot minute since february, but i’m back now for the comeback 😎 it’s a bit before the end of july, but i didn’t have anything to post for today while i’m away so i’ll do this instead. out of all the months, i think this one had the most gifs where i was content with my colour corrections or my colouring choices. every time i thought, ‘you know what, i’m too lazy for this,’ i slapped another corrective layer instead. this is definitely a ‘thank myself later’ moment LOL the first two (karina, winrina) were definitely my best colour corrections. the first lighting looked like a hellspawn and i severely questioned both my ability and my sanity when i decided to gif it. there are definitely things i would change about it but im mostly content with the blacks, blues, and skin tone so it’s a W for me. the winrina one was as nice restoration. a bit tough because of the whites, but glad i could make it look like they stepped into the sun. the next two (click to enlarge) are ones i wasn’t satisfied with. the studio choom one... i wanted to bring out blues but it was really tough on the skin tone and i had trouble working with the magenta lighting. ended up doing a mish mash of things i didnt like and a shade of blue i’m not happy with. i think this was one of those where i changed things i didnt have to and possibly ruined a perfectly good video. the fancam was just... i don’t know... not what i imagined...? i wanted more pink but i was scared of eliminating the non-existent skin tone and, idk, ended up with some orange pink purple clumpy colouring. i shouldve paused in the middle to think after the original plan didn’t work, but i kept forcing it and rushing... lesson learned. at least she cute tho... then comes lts winter and mcore illusion winter. these are ones where i was content with my color and cleaning fixes; when i thought i had to be okay with it not looking good, but figured it out in the end (... i think?). the lts mv was REALLY washed out so restoring the blacks without ruining the light pink vibe (when the pinks were REALLY STRONG) was really difficult. it took a lot of minute fixes but i like how it turned out! the illusion one... i wanted to trash that one SO BAD. i actually planned on doing ning first but it ended up so terribly that i scrapped the entire thing. but then i got frustrated at myself for giving up so i tried again with winter... because whenever i gif winter and want to give up mary comes and slaps me and tells me winter deserves better *s0b* . i really experimented with the denoising here (like 3 different methods in different combinations??) because the sharpening and LED lights of the stage were SO frustrating. i’m also pretty sure winter has skin more on the cool-tone side so the colours were a bit difficult to manage. considering what i had to work with, i’m content with what i did! gma winter and racer winter!!! i’m proud of these two because these are ones where i consciously made a decision and chose a certain deviation from what i normally do. gma winter - i wanted to make it look like she literally came out of fire to cut up black mamba... brrr ow!. it was difficult because the sun made the video REALLY bright and exposed and washed out and i nearly lost my mind. in the end i applied some layers that broke some colouring rules that i normally keep. even though the before/after doesn’t look too great to me on its own, i feel that it looks quite nice as a set so i’m happy with how it turned out. racer winter is one where i made a decision to not make a lot of changes. this before/after shows the most change out of all of them, but the others in the set look like they haven’t changed. most of all, i was proud of my decision not to restore skin tone like i normally do. it was a day after i had a picture taken of me in a room with bright lighting and i looked like a ghost. and i was like damn i guess sometimes keeping the skin light and not darkening it is actually closer to the truth... so i did it here. i think it looks great and keeps it real. as much as it’s important to be careful of whitewashing when giffing, i believe it’s just as important to not darken, redden, or yellow skin past what makes sense with the portrayed lighting.  last one is ningie! idk i just made this one and she’s just so cute so i put it in here. used a combination of things i tested this month and im cool with it 😎 if you read up to here... wow thanks 😎. it’s honestly quite tedious to make a before/after version of every gif i make, but i think it’s really leveled up my giffing and helped me reflect on what i can do to get better at this. (it’s also super satisfying to look at.) this is definitely something i’ll keep doing, and something i’d love to see other people do as well if they’re up for it! next month’s goals... make everything work. i’m planning to gif every stage regardless of how painful it is and regardless of how much it’s been done. just having a record of what i’ve watched and enjoyed when going through my m:gif tag has always given me a lot of fulfillment, so i’m looking forward to this project. excited to push my limits 🤟🏻 also going to start a winter in kwangya hell series  good night and yow! 🤟🏻😎

woke up mid morning but stayed in bed until 12

im enjoying the clothes im wearing these days they make me feel good. today: pink cords, black david lynch t-shirt, sparkly silver socks, grey cardigan w white spots (2nd hand). aeroplane earrings and moomin charm bracelet. swapped cardigan for denim jacket when i went out and added striped ribbed jumper underneath later on, trainers and big bud press bandana

smashed two of my 1970s pyrex coffee cups by being clumsy and stupid. was really super upset abt it lol. theyre brightly coloured plastic holders with removable glass inserts and i got 3 of them from a really cool vintage shop and the lady saw me looking at htem and i couldnt afford them so i wasl ike oh ill think abt it :'D and then i had some money later on so a few weeks later i went back and she recognised me and she wasl ike ?? coffee cups?? n i was like yEA!! theyre really evocative warm shades of green, yellow and orange, super 70s. and then when my grandpa died i found a bright yellow one in his kitchen cupboard when we cleared his house so i scavenged that to add to my collection. so anyway they were important to me they really represented my dreams abt the future ig. how i want to be independent and how i want my house to look when i finally get to live in my own space and dont have to move back home every year

There’s a four inch height difference between yourself and Arthur and he adores it. It’s not that the fact that you’re shorter than him means that you need to be protected, but even so, he can’t stop himself fully from wanting to protect you even more. Your brown eyes are arguably Arthur’s favourite thing about you, if he had to pick just one (really, he loves all of you for exactly who you are and he wouldn’t change a single thing about you!), because they’re so different to his. When he’s in the middle of a laughing attack or when he just can’t think straight, Arthur likes to cup your face in his hands while he looks into your eyes. “Perfect,” he murmurs, so quietly that you’re not even entirely sure that you were supposed to hear him. You were stood so close to him, though, that you did hear him and it only made your face heat up in embarrassment. Your purple hair is something that Arthur cherishes. In a city of grey buildings, grey concrete, grey suits and dull colours, all too telling of a dying city, your hair is vibrant and it stands out, it makes a statement and Arthur wishes that he had that same level of confidence and bravery. He also likes to go on late night walks, especially after Penny dies, and your spontaneous tendencies to go to the park at 3 AM would be perfect here; because when you wake up, wanting to go on an adventure, Arthur already has his worn and faded mustard yellow jacket on, shoes by the door and a knowing but weary and exhausted smile on his face. “Let’s go, darling,” Arthur would light up a cigarette, exhaling and running a hand through his hair, “Before it starts to get light.”. Arthur adores these night time adventures and he is always, in one way or another, touching you. Whether it’s cuddling on the sofa when he’s watching The Murray Franklin Show (you’re too busy watching him to be fussed about someone who’s entire comedic theme is humiliating other people for the sake of a laugh from a bought and paid for audience), or holding Arthur close to you when he’s shivering after you found him in the fridge at three in the morning, or an arm wrapped around your waist when you’re on the way home from Pogo’s, or even just a grounding touch, you are always touching one another in one way or another. Both of you have your struggles and challenges and it’s not an easy relationship to begin with, but there is so much love between you and that’s what really keeps the two of you together. Arthur is no stranger when it comes to mental illness and if he ever had any questions, he would either ask you directly or he would bring it up during his next appointment with Doctor Kane. As far as finding it difficult to trust people Arthur always understands and he would do everything that he could, as well as you doing everything that you could, to coax and to ease each other into the connection which is so obviously there. The first time you showed him your self harm scars, he cooed softly in shared pain and in understanding and in love and he lavished kisses all over the scars, a single shaky index finger gently rubbing in his kisses, as if the love he has for you would seep into the pores of your skin and heal you from the inside out… he’s not far wrong. Again, and this is very important, Arthur loves you for all of you, and there’s nothing you could ever say or do which would make Arthur love you any less or be any less proud of you.

 Arthur really admires your style. Everyone in Gotham follows the crowd. They don’t ever deviate for fear of ridicule or similar and as such, your own bravery in being who you are and putting your outside on the inside is something which Arthur deeply admires and again does he feel that if he spends lots of time with you, some of your confidence and security in who you are as a person will rub off on him. In time will he discover just how right he is in that theory, though it will be in the worst of ways. You’re a dark person and Arthur gravitates towards that; it’s cathartic, for one, but also, for Arthur, there’s safety in your darkness because it’s yours. He adores how the dark colours you wear contrast so starkly with the bright and mismatched colours which he wears. You complete each other, he thinks, and he wants to know whether your piercings hurt. Why did you get them? Why those places? Did it hurt? How did it happen, what was the process of being pierced? It was just because that’s how Arthur is, so shy and so unsure of social interactions is he. He kept looking at you, intensely curious about you and wanting to talk to you, but in the end were you the one to approach him; you’re friendly and sweet and after that first awkward interaction, Arthur was very taken with you and he wanted to dive straight in to the oceans of your mind and to never resurface. Months later, that is still very much what he wishes to do with you, just as much as you want to dive into him! Arthur really does admire the way that you’re not afraid to be yourself, and he would tell you as such on your first meeting. “I… I re-really like your - your clothes. They look good on you.”. As the days turn to weeks and the weeks bleed into months, Arthur is no longer intimidated by you. He knows you, he sees you, he loves you. He loves all of you just as deeply as you love all of him and when you get sad by the way people assume about you, Arthur hums softly. “I know what that’s like. It hurts but… so long as the people who love you, like me,” He would smile sweetly, “Know who you are, then, that’s okay. You’re the best person in Gotham and you make everything worth it.”. If you thought that Arthur used to be protective of you, then you’re in for a wild ride when he saunters home one night and, “it’s Joker now, darling!”. You don’t know what this is all about and you’re not sure how to take it, but there’s something familiar in those green oceans which you know and love so well. You stop and you look at Arthur and you realise that he’s the same man he’s always been. There’s just something about him which has always been so magnetic, so hypnotic and so specifically Arthur that you know you would recognise him anywhere. You’re not entirely supportive of who he is as Joker, because you want for him to still get the help and support which he so obviously needs, but you also know that you love him and that you will weather every storm with him, every storm for him, just as he always will for you. Your brown eyes bring Joker home to you every single day, just as they always have, and you come to sync up your hair dying routines: when you dye your hair purple, Joker dyes his green. You help each other out with this, bonding over your vivid colours, and as the green and the purple flecks merge and blend together in the ceramic sink, tinged yellow with age, Joker realises that he’s finally home; body, mind, heart and soul. Joker adores your style. You are so you and when he is out and about in the city he likes to look for things which he thinks you would like; he usually grabs them quickly and tucks them under his blazer. He can run fast and he is never worried about getting caught. One day that will catch up to him, but for now will he present you with gifts with a flourish fitting the clown he is and a proud smirk. He knows you so well. Even to this day, months later from the day he first met you, he really admires you and your courage to dress the way you most like to. And now, with Arthur out of his old high school clothes and into a brightly coloured, highly recognised suit, the two of you dress like stark opposites to each other if Joker goes out in public. When he goes out bare faced and in his older clothes, though, the two of you are still contrasted, especially because Arthur wears his bright yellow hoodie. This contrast only makes Joker stay close to you; you are different in some ways but for every difference is there a similarity and he clings to those as surely as he clings to your hand. Your hair means that you stand out in a crowd, but Joker loves that - he knows that you’re real and actually with him when people double take when you walk past them. Most of the souls in Gotham are apathetic to the things which go on around them so people barely notice your hair colour, but Joker cherishes the small reminders that you do exist. It makes him hold your hand a little tighter, his fingers interlocked with yours even as he smirks over at you. On Hallowe’en, he likes to ask you to do his makeup and you match on those nights and Joker loves to dance around in the streets with you, your piercings glinting in the soft orange glow given off by the street lights, people staring but the two of you uncaring… You have glasses and Joker still doesn’t touch them unless you have left them somewhere which could be dangerous, like the edge of the sink, but he also likes to tap upon one of the arms of your glasses by way of asking you to remove them so that he can see you. This is especially true if you’re crying, so he can wipe your tears away directly from the source, a soft smirk on his lips. Oh, how he loves you. There is nothing that he won’t do for you and that’s always been true and it will always be true.

When you’re out and about in the streets with Arthur and someone turns their shoulder so that you don’t walk into them, they’re either being polite or they’re intimidated by you. Sometimes you can shrug it off, always assuming the best in people, but when Joker can see that you have been upset by it, so intuitive is he and so well does he know you, he only grips  your hand tighter and he says something like, “it’s okay, I know who you are. That’s all that matters. People think they know me too, and,” He shrugs, smirking, but you can see the pain in his beautiful sea green eyes, “They don’t. But you do. And that’s enough for me.” the it has to be goes unspoken but you hear it anyway and you squeeze his hand by way of silent understanding. So much of what passes between the two of you is unspoken because you just know each other so well that you don’t even need to speak - you can see it in each other’s eyes. No matter what happens, no matter where you go or who you become, Joker loves you. You’re his everything; your love for him is the weapon against the world which he keeps locked and loaded, his finger on the trigger even though he knows that you’ll protect him so well that he doesn’t even need to bother to defend himself. He loves all of you for exactly who you are, just as you love all of him, and there’s nothing which the two of you wouldn’t do for each other. The best things defy explanation and, oh, not even Shakespeare himself could adequately describe the love which exists between the two of you. You’re written into the very fabric of the universe.

felix singlehandedly got me to stan stray kids, i first glanced changbin in hellevator then highkey forgot abt them as the show aired. then my friend sent me this clip of felix’s verse in grr from the live stage bc at this point the album hadnt even dropped yet. i was shook to the next dimension from his deep ass voice and his growling and i wanted to hear more so i watched the show and only fell in love with him more.
