it feels a little callous but i cant help but find this whole brittany mahomes thing kind of extremely funny because like. Outragiously long and stupid rant incoming!

I like never make posts on here but I wanted to scream into the void about heartbreak high. Since s1 I've seen like really strange takes and half the time I'm like is it because people don't know how Australian school is different or is it a lack of critical thinking.

Like in s1 I only saw people either hating or loving spider and don't get me wrong either of those is valid but the way people were explaining it was strange to me.

For me I didn't like spider but not because he was some unrepeatable arsehole I actually think he was a great representation of a lot of Australian guys I knew growing up. Like he says dumb shit but then when things are serious he does the right thing like he helped malakai with the cop (then said fucking stupid things after) and he helped amerie at the festival, he wanted to help harper and let her in even though it would mean he and American would have to stop hooking up.

In comparison I swore people liking dusty who in my eyes was way worse than spider. He acted all woke like he said the right things and then did shitty things like shaming harper and deciding to frame jojo.

Like theyrr both shit but I would trust spider with my drink over but maybe not dusty.

Then ant I understand if you like ant and spider together but I think people maybe don't understand how touchy guys are with each other in Australia. Like gay straight bi whatever guy friends hang off each other and I think it's actually healthy to show that. I also saw someone complaining about spider and ant doing gay shit but only as a joke but I never saw that like I don't think any of it was a joke it just wasn't gay. I was a bit disappointed with all the bisexual characters ending up in straight relationships but that's mostly because I really wanted an ant malakai and I liked Rowan Malaysia before it went to shit. But at the same time I dont like how people critiquing it often feels like Bi erasure. Like I'm a bi woman whos first gay relationship ended because my gf (lesbian) cheated on me with a lesbian because she constantly thought I was cheating on her with my guy friends and for a long time I just dated guys because I didnt know many bi women and lesbian girls kept being horrified that I would go near a dick (not all of them my ex was very understanding and actually encouraged me to embrace my sexualising when I was just a baby bi) but my point is I totally understand how having a straight relationship when bi can actually be more understanding (at least in mine and my friends experiences) and it's totally valid even though the relationship is straight.

Also people angry about not as much quinni (I agree more quinni she and cash are my loves) I'm actually happy they took a back-seat with her on the relationship front like her and Sasha were a big deal/quinnis first relationship and I think it wouldve really messed quinni up with how it ended. I also love that they're not just centring her storyline around being the gay girl you know like she I a multifaceted queen.

Also for the Sasha redemption, I get why people are calling for it but unlike spider and dusty like Sasha didn't really do anything wrong (except for how she treated quinni but they talked at the end of s1 and seem to be moving to a place of good friendahip) shes mostly just annoying and pretentious like the other idiots actually fuvked up. I don't really want a Sasha redemption I just want to see more of her character make her a bit less of a two dimensional hipster, which I honestly think they only didn't fo because they had a lot of characters to juggled Sasha had to take a back-seat so Missy could shine (and I love Missy so I'll allow it also her and malakais friendship means everything to me the indigenous representation that shows not just the aspects of country and family but also shows them as fully formed characters I LOVE)

okay so i rewatched the batman for like the 5th time last night / this morning and i was having too many thoughts to put them all as a letterboxd comment so here are all my little semi connected ramblings on the film 

starting off strong with right at the start the drophead guy that tried to rob the convenience store, its just so interesting to me that he was scared of the batman even when he wasnt there and so he ran back into the street and got hit by a police car but the police just yelled at him like they didnt try to stop him or anything -- metaphor for how the batman is offering solutions and providing suspects for the police and stuff but theyre too corrupt to do anything about it ? maybe 

it’s the whole system -- just that quote is so good, i should remember who said it considering i literally watched the film 2 hours ago i think it was gil but again super good line just encompassing the fact that the gotham justice system does not offer justice, it is corrupt down to its core and it is failing the people 

bruce wayne my blorbo this is just a point about how smart he is and like he just catches on to things but its interesting because he can understand how the riddlers brain works also when bruce punched jim and then jim was like you couldve pulled that punch and bruce was like i did he is so im just kind of obsessed with the fact that he trains for this and its just interesting anyway point about my poor little meow meow over back to analysis 

the good cop batshit cop contrasted with brains and brawn -- bruce and jim work together well, they bounce ideas off eachother especially in that scene with the penguim and the way when jim pretended to side with his captain (??? i cant remember) bruce was like et tu? and then that contrasted with batman and the riddler the way riddler thinks hes working with bruce because they both understand a fundamental aspect of eachother and sure bruce is on the same wavelength as him sometimes but its only to track him down and riddler just completely does not realise 

when alfred intercepts the assassination attempt and the card reads see you in hell, i feel like that wouldve twisted the knife even more; im not 100% familiar with the original deaths of martha + thomas but the whole senseless crime thing kind of echoes here, like all the other cards to the batman had a cypher or a clue or something but this is just senseless hatred that has no obvious lead for bruce to chase up 

he mindmaps, i just like that its fun its fresh hes just like me fr 

the way bruce and the riddler are tied together, like in the small things with the diaries but also theyre obviously both orphans and they can understand eachother, they were both born out of tragedy and that was the renewal fund and thomas + marthas deaths, where bruce was left without a mother or father alone in the world (ignoring alfred, as bruce did) the riddler was left without hope, they both use fear, though the batman uses it as a deterrant whereas the riddler uses it as inspiration and almost thrives off it 

the way bruce misses the tucker, the carpet tool, showing that even if he fights for the city, even if he walks its streets, he is still a billionaire in a bat suit and there will be experiences and little things that he does not know and that shape his personality and the way he solves crimes 

the way the batman begins with the whole i am vengeance thing but comes to realise that he needs to be a symbol of hope, someone for people to fall back on as he ends in the movie, the realisation as he hears his words come from someone wanting to cause only pain and immediatly sacrificing himself by cutting the electric thingy and falling into the water just seconds later

And Im just a layperson over here but I dont think it was him. The original photo, the guy has very ruddy skin and Mangione is very olive. Their eyebrows are different. I got the impression that under the jacket the shooter has a fairly wide build, in the shoulders, Mangione is more average.

Abd more than anything else, regardless of his actual guilt, he is legally innocent until declared guilty by court following a fair trial. Until AND UNLESS he is declared guilty in court, he IS just some Italian guy youre all cyberstalking having the worst time of his life. Thats probably confronting to realise. Its ok. You can change your beliefs and behaviour moving forward, you dont have to double down, youre not ruined forever for being caught up in a very powerful moment.

But Mangione IS innocent. If he is still legally innocent by the end of the year (how long do these things take?), thats another matter and we'll have to see.

Legally, he's innocent. Personally as not-an-expert I think in reality he's also innocent, the cops just *really* needed a scapegoat. Please try afford him some privacy.

yes and I hated it, even though it was in the same interconnected countries I dont really recommend it if you are still in high school, I only recommend to move countries if it for your benefit as an adult cause if you moving high schools, I find it often hinder your chances of success later on. you got to first fit in and find decent friends then adjust to different knowledge or even entirely different system alone can be enough to mess with your mind. plus you dont know what chances you are leaving behind either.

idk how different canada is to america but i dont think its too different so you would be ok. but in my experiences with the country i went to it was kind of hell, my only other english friend got beat up he mother was a cop and she only just abojt stopped it cause the two countries hate each other, what was worst was a classmate of mine came from germany and he was treated better than myself and this other friend was.

I once saw a cop pull a tokyo fucking drift to chase down a car going the opposite direction (not even going fast just going the opposite way), so i turned and followed to see what was happening. He pulled the car over in a parking lot, so i parked nearby and watched. And the cop saw. And he was suddenly a lot more interested in me than he was the person he just pulled over.

When the person he pulled over left, i left too. And the cop fucking followed me. He followed me through multiple turns, speed changes, and everything, until i pulled into a walmart and he had no choice but to keep going (and give me a good view of his punisher sticker because of course he had one). Got home from work like an hour ago (early day yipee) butlike also today fucking sucked and im gonna go off a little

Okso first and foremost all but one person from an entire fucking department got let off for ''budget cuts'' today and not only that but us in the kitchen and ALL OF MEDICAL AS A FUCKING WHOLE recieved a budget cut. And we're already purchasing the lowest quality products overall. The department in question not only makes the workload easier on literally everyone but they get the residents out and about rather than rotting in their rooms. Its just so fucking vile and evil, and the department that they cut off is VITAL. The residents are gonna mentally deteriorate and more fights are gonna happen. The assisted living facility i work for is now a fucking PRISON. like dead fucking ass. I really fucking hope that the CNAs told the residents that love to complain because this shit is just straight up cruel and the owner of the corporation as a whole is so fucking lucky their name doesnt have to be public or else i wouldve already scheduled a flight to. FUCK I really hope it was all a coincidence and my meds were just working really well and that I dont get forebodings like that bc I know for a fact my psychosis will get the better of me if this happens even once more

Butlike fucking UGH I've also been working like 4 days in a row with only one day off in between and Im fucking SHOT. I can technically work those shifts while also doing my laundry, making food, and attending therapy but I can't do much else bc its either Im getting ready to go to work, getting ready to go to bed for work in the morning, or using my one day off to clean everything that got dirty during my work days

Also the transphobia and burnt-out ableism I witness at work makes me wanna scream and break everything but i dont wanna fight with my coworkers in front of the residents so i just have to give the residents twice as much love as the malice theyre recieving like they're living in a perpetual state of good cop bad cop :)

It really pisses me off that as soon as people started calling for the arrest of the officer who murdered George Floyd and the other officers who did nothing to stop him, the ads and articles I started seeing were trying to drown out the information about George by trying to make it seem like looting a business was worse and demanded more attention.

People are more important than businesses. And the fact that social media outlets are trying to smother the news about police brutality and police murdering POC and about the tear gas and violence against protestors, and they’re trying to replace it with news about businesses who have way more money than they need getting screwed over? It’s bullshit and it is outrageous and I am so fucking proud of my friends and my followers and even the people I don’t know who have stood up to fight against this and are calling out the media for trying to stifle news about racism and oppression. And I mean actual oppression, not Karen being too high maintenance to go one month without a fucking haircut and demanding people who haven’t been considered essential until the virus hit go back to work and be in danger because of an inconvenience.

I am a white woman, yes. But I’m not going to sit back and do nothing. I’m using my white privilege to give all of my friends who are minorities a voice. I have my group of friends on Xbox, and a majority of them are black men who are good people, who have families they care for, who don’t break the law, who try and help anyone they come across even if it’s with something as small as beating a boss in a video game. But in the past couple days alone, I have watched and listened as random people on the internet log onto their streams or join their voice chats just to call them racial slurs and threaten to call the police on them just because they’re black. It got to the point where about 90% of my clan mates stopped playing the games they’ve always loved because random people online have been harassing them and it’s nonstop.

But it didn’t just start a few days ago with George Floyd’s murder. They’ve been getting threats and slurs thrown at them and have been batting off hate speech of random people for years. This incredibly unjustified and diabolical event just increased the hate they get. I know I can’t do much with people online, but my friends took screenshots of the twitch usernames and Xbox usernames of all the people harassing them and myself and the clan have been blasting the information across our social media accounts with detailed recaps of what was said and what was threatened and how often it’s been happening and I know for a fact that those people who chose to harass my friends just because of their skin color have been reported and outed by everyone in the clan and by sharing on social media by at least another 100 people (we have a big clan and if even just two friends of each member reports them, it’s well over 100 reports).

I’m fucking pissed. I’ve also seen POC in my home state treated like shit in public spaces just for being there. I’ve taken every opportunity I can to step in and help them when I am able. I am a tiny woman though so not a lot of people take me seriously, but at least I don’t stand by and watch it happen. My last job where I was in a manager position, I had 4 black teenage boys working in my store. They were just kids so they’d goof off every once in a while, but they always did their jobs, they were always respectful of customers, they were good people. But the number of times I would have customers come in and ask to be helped by a different employee, to have their food made by a different employee, to complain about being disrespected because they were told we couldn’t fulfill their requests by one of those boys, to sneer and whisper slurs just loud enough that the boys could hear them, it’s just ridiculous how many times it happened. When customers would demand to be helped by someone else, I would have them try to explain to me why exactly they didn’t want to be helped by one of the boys and more often than not they’d get too embarrassed and stutter and wouldn’t be able to think of anything to say because they didn’t want to straight up say “because he’s black”. When they’d ask if someone else could make their food, I would tell the customers that everyone went through the same training with myself and knew what they were doing so what was it that worried them about the quality of food from that particular employee. They’d shut up too. When they’d ask for a manager because the employee was unable to fulfill their requests (often asking for food items we don’t carry or asking for free food for waiting two minutes longer than they felt necessary), I would stand next to the employee and have them repeat exactly what they had said to the customer and I would then say “it seems to me that he explained our store policies exactly as I would have, so what seems to be the problem?” When I would hear the slurs being whispered, I had full permission from the owner of the store to refuse service to those customers. It would be called out in front of everyone and they would be asked to leave, and if they threw a fit or caused a scene, security would be called.

I even worked at that particular store with a few Latina girls who were also in high school, and they were honestly my best employees and are still some of my best friends. But I had to do similar policing of the customers where they were concerned as well. I had one customer ask for the manager upon walking into the store, he hadn’t even ordered and refused to speak to anyone but me. I asked him what the problem was and he said “I don’t want one of those illegals to help me, they’re probably high or some shit. You get me right? It’ll be great when the government finally sends all of those wetbacks and n*s out of our country.” That man did not get helped. I told him to leave. A security guard who was great friends with everyone at the store and was also a POC walked up to the counter at the same time that I told the racist asshole to leave. The guy started getting angry and looked like he was about to yell, but the security guard stepped in and said “sir are you going to leave peacefully and respect that businesses have the right to refuse service to anyone, or do I need to escort you out”. The guy left and we never saw him again. The girls were in the back crying and the security guard asked me what had happened and if anyone had been hurt. I told him what had been said and told him that as long as I was in charge of that store, racism would not be allowed and anyone who escalated it or directly targeted my employees — my FRIENDS — would be shown the door.

I hate that so many people just ignore it or stand to the side hoping someone else will do something about it. If POC are not being heard, what better use for white privilege is there than to give them a voice and to demand justice and to treat them with the same respect that you would treat anyone else. It doesn’t matter if you are a tiny person that people rarely take seriously. If you stand up, more often than not someone else will stand with you in backing those who are being oppressed. Every single one of those cops who was on the scene when George Floyd was murdered is guilty. Not a single one of them did anything to stop it from happening. They are all guilty. I grew up with a sheriff for an uncle, but if he had been there and hadn’t done anything I would be calling him guilty too. It doesn’t matter if the cop wouldn’t do it themselves. They are guilty if they don’t stop it.

The area that non black ppl keep getting tripped up is, u all keep making posts explaining the hypocrisy and badness of conservatives’ actions so that maybe you can persuade them to do otherwise. U all keep trying to sympathize and convince them what they’re doing is wrong. Baby, they know!! That’s the point!! They’re hypocritical and evil on purpose there is no ignorance. Racism is nuanced - some people truly don’t know any better and most people have the full picture and like what they see. No one in this administration has tried to make you think that the government ISNT racist they just want you to shut up about it

light novel reread, vol. 2 ch. 3: ikebukuro's most dangerous

here's the introduction to niekawa as we head into the slasher arc. the anime did him really poorly, i think. he has a lot more character in the novels.

he's genuinely passionate about his work; i feel like the anime portrays him as washed up and burnt out.

mr shiki is canonically jealous of shizuo.

i love simon so much... shizuo's truly loved by his friends, varied as they are, which we see a lot of in this chapter.

niekawa is the first person who mentions celty being a quick typer, but it makes sense for how often she uses her PDA. like simon, she's quick to claim shizuo as a very close friend.

theyre BEST FRIENDS, your honor. celty thinks shizuo is so cool. she also makes a point here and it is something i want to come back to- i have a theory that shizuo (and kasuka) has werewolf blood the same way ruri and kujiragi have vampire blood.

the first description of shizuo's face up close paints him as undeniably cute. i love that for him.

i also love that shizuo, who seemingly is far from wealthy, has his signature fancy sunglasses. either he saved up for them because he really wanted them, or they were a gift from kasuka.

i have a theory that he wears the blue lens sunglasses because he's easily overstimulated by bright light, and the blue lenses help not distort color as much as a gray lens. the blue lenses are also supposedly calming to wear.
