HOHENZOLLERN ALLEE 72-76
a German-inspired 1950s apartment build + a furnished flat
A build download that was in the works for almost a month and made me realise how much I love building local architecture even though it's not the easiest within the constraints of TS4.
It's meant to represent a realistic German apartment build, that is a bit run down and yet still feels homey and nostalgic to those of us growing up near or in these buildings. There's one furnished flat that is ideal for 2-3 sims and furnished in a retro 60s-90s look, that I hope you'll enjoy! This is also a BIG 1K followers gift, with which I want to show my deepest appreciation to all my followers, thank you so much!!
More info, screenshots + DL link behind the cut!
First a little history/backstory to this build:
This build is something you'd see very often in Middle to Northern Europe, less so in the UK, because brick builds there look similar but also different and I based my build off of Northern German brick builds.
The red brick used for these builds dominates the townscapes in quite a few cities where I live and has been used for a few centuries (see Brick Gothic). This build that I based on a real building, however, is more modern and was probably built after WW2, as the design choices, like using tiles on the facades of brick builds is something distinctively 1950s. I know there are older examples, but these buildings usually have more design and decor elements on the facades. These red brick builds were built en masse starting with the 1920s and were usually meant for low-income households. The same goes for the 1950s brick builds, which were built on top of ruins of older buildings destroyed in the war and oftentimes were cheaply constructed and usually don't receive the same appreciation that older pre-war brick builds get, so quite a few are already being demolished for more modern builds.
So what do you get with this build?
Hohenzollernallee 72-76 is a 40x30 lot that I placed in Evergreen Harbor on the Sprucewood Square lot. I created 2 versions of the building, one as a normal residential lot and another as a residential rental. Just choose whatever you want! There are 6 different flats, that have been renovated at different times, which is apparent from the condition of their kitchen and bathroom.. Each flat has its own basement room and the garden is shared between all tenants and there's a shared laundry room in the basement as well.
You'll also have a restaurant shell, the Burger Lab that is not functional currently, but you could make it so if you want.
The furnished flat is playtested and ideal for 2-4 sims max and is heavily 'lived in', meaning very cluttered. I personally see an older woman living there, whose husband already died and her daughter left as soon she turned 18, but the interior was never changed or renovated. I don't know, you could probably come up with a lot of story ideas!
CC is mostly included. You'll find an Excel file with the specific file names and the dl link for all CC that is not included. The build will probably still look okay-ish without the excluded CC but I strongly recommend downloading it, if you do not already have it.
Thank you, especially to these lovely creators: @budgie2budgie, @sforzinda, @surely-sims, @pluto-sims, @syboubou.

@awingedllama, @kirsicca, @baufive, @lumenniveus, @kiwisim4 and many more!! it's because of you that this build looks the way it does <3

Here we have a home that demonstrates how stark white walls don't mean that a house can't be colorful. Why, however, they painted all the exterior brick blue, I don't understand. Anyway, the 1991 contemporary home, located in Pauma Valley, California, has 3bd, 3.5ba and is listed for $1.15M.
Enter an open "foyer." The front door is painted purple inside. Love that.
Immediately to the right is a big bright living room with a contemporary fireplace. I think that the colorful chimney is wallpaper, there's a blue square painted on the wall with an orange door to the left that matches the Mona Lisa art.
Also in the living room is a recessed wet bar.
The open concept living/dining room features a custom made conversation pit. I'm disappointed that the furnishings don't seem to be included. But, I guess there's enough color for the buyers to put their own stamp on it.
Look at the tile column that appears to be made of Legos. The stairs and seats in the pit are made of concrete, so all that's needed are some cushions.
Brightly striped wall in the dining room has a neon sign that says, "Steak Me Home Tonight." I wonder if it conveys.
The spacious powder room has pink toilet paper roll wallpaper.
The kitchen has white cabinetry and features a blue island, but accessories provide pops of color.
In the family room, a floor-to-ceiling fireplace looks funky with raised geometric shapes painted gray. I suppose that you can repaint it, if you want. Light blue shelving and cabinets provide the color in the room.
Purple carpeting in the primary bedroom. I see what they were trying to do with the bed, but it's just not bright enough.
I prefer this bedroom with the mural and geometric shapes.
Check out the bright yellow wall of cabinets in the home office. That desk would be easy to duplicate.
Colorful wallpaper and doors.
The basement is a blank canvas.
This home is located in a country club.
Nice entrance to the driveway, but I think it would look classier if they hadn't painted the bricks.
Path to the front door looks nice.
The kidney-shaped pool kinda looks heart-shaped, too. A privacy wall surrounds the property.
They didn't show it, but there's a sun room or conservatory in the back.
Unusual elevated yard area has a ladder to get to it.

Call of Duty || Coraline AU || Part 2
Running away to start a new chapter and escape the troubles of your past, you find yourself in a darker predicament than you had hoped for.
Coraline with a twist. And COD men. Obviously.
PT.1 / PT.3
The sound of the microwave beeping in the background pulled you from your thoughts, snapping you away from the daze you had towards the ceiling. Despite it being night time, you could still faintly hear the sound of that damned circus music playing from the neighbor above, and you hated to admit it, but it was already driving you a bit mad.
Your visit to the market was deemed half successful. Were the foods in there considered fresh? No, most definitely not. But you had no room to be picky, and you were starving.
Pulling the mess of a dinner out of the microwave, you sat in the rickety chair that the dining room had provided you when you were initially told of the house being furnished. It creaked under your weight, and you grimaced at how fragile the old legs felt beneath you. The moment you sat and began reluctantly feasting on the cheap meal, the music from upstairs stopped, leaving you in a house full of deafening silence.
It felt almost⊠eerie, though you werenât sure why. You quickly found you hated the silence, and wouldâve much preferred to hear that god awful circus music from the crazed neighbor above you. The silence allowed you to really take in the dreadful state of the house, and just how strange it felt to be alone.
This is good, you thought to yourself. Alone is good. This is better than before.
And truth be told, even though it was incredibly foreign, it was better than before.
The screaming. The fights. The bruises. The fear.
Stop thinking about that.
You quickly finished up your dinner, tossing the plastic tray into the garbage. One good look at the place from where you stood in the kitchen was enough to have you wincing at how unkempt everything was. Dust littered every surface, the floor caked with old dirt and grime, and some of the furniture was still covered up in weak attempts of protective bags that seemed to prove useless the more you looked at them.
Maybe cleaning would do you some good. Take your mind off of the weird neighbors and strange aura the house swarmed you with.
âWhat the fuck?â you mumbled to yourself as you kneeled in front of the wall of the living room, staring hard at the old wallpaper.
Though the wall was covered, there was a shape formed underneath it, as if covered up and hidden away so nobody would be able to see it. But you certainly saw it in the midst of your cleaning session. How could you not? It was practically staring you in the face, begging for you to tear it apart and peek beneath.
Standing up to enter the kitchen, you scrambled through the many janky drawers before finding one filled with all sorts of gadgets. The weirdest part was how many keys were tossed carelessly inside, in all different shapes and colors. Who the hell needed this many keys?
Finding a box cutter shoved in the back of the drawer, you returned to the living room. With a soft clank of the box cutter being released, you cut into the wallpaper and carefully cut around the edge of the covered square. It cut open easily, and when you tore away the wallpaper, you were surprised to see a door. A rather small one, but a door nonetheless.
You tried pressing it, tried tugging on it from the small crevices and cracks, but it wouldnât budge. Gliding your finger along the old wood, you noticed a tiny keyhole on the left of the door.
God, it could be any of those keys in that drawer.
Returning to the kitchen yet again, you shuffled through the array of keys. Most looked normal, and after a few moments, you almost gave up â but as if the universe was finally being a bit nice to you, one key stood out in particular.
Black, old, and on the end, a shape of a button. It was unlike all of the other keys, and it seemed to call out to you, saying pick me, pick me!
When you grasped hold of the key and made your way back to the mysterious door in the living area, you entered the key into the hole. Taking a deep breath and mentally preparing yourself for a swarm of rats to leap out from behind the door (just your luck), you turned the key. To your surprise, that little button key was the right one after all. The small door unlocked, and as if moving on its own, slowly urged itself open.
Curiosity got the best of you, and you grabbed the edge of the door to tug it the rest of the way open.
âYouâve gotta be kidding me,â you breathed out in disappointment when you saw nothing but brick covering up the hole. On the bright side, it wasnât rats. On the not so bright side, it was very anticlimactic.
Sighing, you shut the door and locked it, securing it tight and returned the key to its original home in the kitchen drawer. With nothing left to do but swallow down your impending loneliness, you headed straight for bed upstairs, willing the clouds in your foggy mind away as well as that stupid little door downstairs.
âEveninâ, bonnie!â A voice called out from above you as you strolled along the side of the house. Glancing up, you noticed a new man standing on his small, metal patio, beaming down at you with a grin so big he might as well have been a damn cheshire cat. âYouâre the new one they told me about. Caroline, yes?â
There it was, that mix up in your name again, just like John had done the day before. Did everyone in the building know your name before you could even properly introduce it?
âItâs Coraline,â you corrected with a small frown, head tilted up to study him from where he was carelessly leaning over the railings. âYouâre⊠Soap?â
âThe one and only, Miss Caroline,â Soap confirmed cheekily, and if it were even possible, his smile only grew larger. âThough, there is only one of you, I suppose. Must be pretty special if Laswell let you move in to the place, aye?â
It was similar to what John had said to you yesterday, and it only festered your undying curiosity on what exactly seemed to be the issue with you moving in. Surely, nobody else had moved in before you because of how much cleaning needed to be done inside, right? Nobody but you was crazy enough to move into a place so old and rundown, with such⊠strange neighbors.
Your eyebrows furrowed as you stared at him, unsure of what to say. He tilted his head with that obnoxious grin on his face, unfazed by your confusion.
âIs there something wrong with my apartment here?â you finally asked, causing him to laugh loudly and shrug his shoulders. Not exactly the answer you were hoping for, but you didnât expect anything different from a man who seemed so out of touch. A bit crazy, even.
âYou tell me, Caroline. Do you think thereâs something wrong with the place?â
â...No?â
âThen nothingâs wrong, lass. Quite the silly one, arenât you?â
He was making your head hurt. If John and Gaz were strange, then Soap was even stranger.
âRight,â you muttered with a small huff, clearly not amused by his lack of explanation. âWell⊠it was nice meeting you, Soap. Suppose Iâll see you around.â
ââCourse, Miss Caroline.â
You didnât even bother to correct him.
âAnd please, can you maybe tone it down with the music? Itâs a bit much, you know.â
Soap grinned, all perfect teeth on display, and straightened himself up along the railings to rest his palms on them. He was a bit boyish in a way, and you couldnât tell if it was creepy or perhaps you were just a bit too judgmental.
He hummed in response, but said nothing. You took that as your opportunity to leave, facing forward to continue your descent around the house in your eagerness to explore the land.
âIâll turn down the music if you promise not to go through the little door, Miss Caroline,â he practically sang in amusement, and when you whipped your head back around to look up at him again, he was gone from the patio. All you heard was the sound of his door, as well as his faint snickering that disappeared as it shut behind him.
You stood there, dumbfounded, as you stared at the cracked wood of his door from where he resided upstairs. First, John knew your name. Now, Soap knew about the little door. Even worse, he somehow knew you had discovered it and made attempts to open it to peek inside.
You made a mental note to look for hidden cameras in your apartment when you returned from your exploration of the property.
The land that surrounded the Pink Palace was certainly much more peaceful than the peculiar residents that lived there with you. Though the sky was still a gloomy gray that you knew youâd have to grow accustomed to, the light breeze and dark green of the trees was enough to be considered a pretty sight.
Walking along the dirt trail, the silence you had once dreaded the night before was now welcome. It allowed your fuzzy mind to take a break and simply enjoy the nature around you.
You lost track of how long you had spent along the path, but the pleasant quiet was broken by the snap of a branch behind you. Immediately, the hairs on the back of your neck stood up, and you whirled around without a single thought to see if somebody had been following you without your knowledge.
A faint meow was heard, and your eyebrows furrowed as you shifted your gaze to the ground where a small, black cat moseyed along the path in such a careless manner, as if it hadnât given you a fright.
âHi, kitty,â you greeted with a soft smile, crouching down to its level. It didnât approach you and instead, stared. If you didnât know any better, it seemed almost bored of you. âAh. Not that friendly, huh?â
The cat sat on its haunches, making no effort to move towards you, but also didnât attempt to leave. It simply sat there, yellow eyes boring into yours, lazily tilting its head at you. You tilted your head back, mirroring its actions. It was then you noticed a thin collar around its neck, name tag on display. You tilted your head some more, squinting in attempts to see it better without getting closer and scaring it off.
âSi,â you read aloud, humming in acknowledgement. âAlright, Si. Nice to meet you. Iâll be on my way, so donât follow me, okay? I donât have anything to feed you. Sorry, little guy.â
You stood from your crouched position, eyes lingering on the cat as his own eyes followed your movements. It felt as if he was studying you, and maybe even judging you if that was even possible for a cat.
The sky was beginning to darken in the slightest, so you knew it was safer to head on home, back to the Pink Palace. You just prayed you didnât run into any of the neighbors on your way.
With a small nod to Si, you stepped past him and began your journey back to your home. The cat watched you go, eyes watching you disappear down the path before following far behind, completely unbeknownst to you.

I. Stronger Together
CH 2 (5k) You follow Tess to a colonial style house one block away from the main town square. Itâs not as tall as the church on the other side of the park, but its three stories still tower over the smaller structures around it. You realize it's close enough that you could see the house from the clinic, and think about all of the still-hot meals Joel has been bringing you three times a day.
The house has an open yard on one side and a porch wrapping around one half front to back. Tess leads you inside and gives you a brief tour. The first floor has a large dining room at the front and a kitchen in the back; a large sitting room located on the opposite side of the home with Joelâs office behind a closed door beyond. Tess shows you your small room upstairs, right next to the bathroom, crowded even with only two furnishings; a single bed and a nightstand.Â
Three shirts hang from the single windowâs curtain rod and she tells you that the room and the clothes are yours and to let her know if you need anything else. When you make your way back downstairs with her she begins to introduce you to the other women who live there. Youâre not sure what you were expecting but it certainly wasnât to find Joel living in a house full of women.Â
You hate the way it makes you feel. Itâs a cold hand grasping at your insides, clutching them hot and tight yet freezing them solid at the same time. It makes you sick. You feel a stinging at your eyes and blink rapidly, fighting the urge you have to cry at every new introduction. There are two women in the kitchen preparing dinner, one in the living room mending a broken bowstring, and one working in the back garden. And Tess.
Tess is the only name you can remember. Your head is swirling, your heartbeat is in your ears, and youâre struggling against the sick feeling in your stomach. Youâre not even sure you heard all of their names. As if you could even remember them, there were too many to even remember. Had he ever mentioned he lived with five fucking women before? Youâre pretty sure you would have remembered that.
Tess had spent the morning moving her housemates around to clear the room at the top of the stairs that Joel said you could have. She knew Bianca wouldnât be comfortable sharing a bed, so she moved her up to the attic, switching one of the occupants there to share a double bed in the room across from her own. They all moved around expeditiously and with no complaint. The women she shared her home with were easy going, but she still didnât appreciate Joel dropping this work in her lap last minute.
Tess excuses herself and leaves you with the two women in the kitchen, the one from the garden â whose name, ironically, is Rosie â joining you later. You work beside them, eager to lose yourself in activity and stop your mind from racing. Youâve definitely lost your ability to small-talk, but the women are friendly and seem happy to meet you. The one Rosie calls Bianca is timid and silent, but the other two, Rosie and the other one doing most of the cooking, talk boisterously and animatedly to each other as you work. They excitedly tell you about the community. This is your first time hearing details about where youâve been living for the past two weeks and youâre shocked to hear that the leader of the whole place is Joel.Â
Joel â who has been walking over three hot meals a day. Joel â who has been reading stories to you morning, noon, and night. Joel â who has been following you around the park asking you inane questions. Joel â who asked you to move in with him. That Joel.
He definitely didnât mention that he was the leader of the whole fuckinâ community. You would have remembered that too. They tell you that he brings people into the community if they need shelter and they can follow the rules. The rules seem simple; develop a strong and cohesive community, guard and keep your territory, and work collectively to gather and store resources.
You like the way the women talk about the community they call The Valley. They seem cared for and safe, and thatâs also how youâve felt since youâve been here. Even though your plan has been to leave when youâve fully healed, youâve somehow allowed yourself to get pretty comfortable here. Youâve been distracted by Joelâs daily visits, youâve been getting lost in the stories he reads to you, letting your mind wander from the harsh realities of this world.
The reality is that society collapsed and all people want to do now is survive, by any means necessary. People have only ever used other people, they take. They did that before the outbreak, but now itâs even worse. Youâve been used. Youâve been taken from. But even though it seems like Joel failed to tell you some things, heâs never taken anything from you. In fact, Joel has been very giving.
He and his patrol killed the clicker about to attack you, saving your life. He brought you into his town and had the doctor give you medical care, even after you threatened them with scissors. Heâs been bringing you food, keeping you company, reading those books to you, and helping you gain some of your strength back. Apparently he even gave you his blood after you spilled most of yours down the mountain.
He told you that you were free to leave when you got better. And maybe you will. Maybe once youâre at full-strength youâll feel like moving on. But maybe you should stay here a little longer. You have a room of your own, a warm place to lie your head, youâve not been this well-fed in years. Maybe this could be a safe place for you, when no place has ever really felt safe before. Maybe Joel could give you that too.
âÂ
Youâre still processing the revelations about Joel when he comes out of his office for dinner. You keep your head down, busy helping the women set the dinner table, carrying in the prepared food and drinks. Joel grabs your hand as you walk back into the kitchen, pulling you close to him. You donât recoil from his touch anymore, as youâve been making physical contact with him more often.
Youâve touched his arm or shoulder to point out an animal on your walk, heâs taken your hands to help you up and down steps. Unlike he usually does, this time he doesnât drop your hand immediately, he continues holding it. He asks if youâve âgotten comfortableâ. Youâre not sure how to tell him that youâre actually a little uncomfortable, given all the new information, without insulting his hospitality.
âWho are these people?â you ask him, looking down at your joined hands, unable to meet his eye.
âThey didnât introduce themselves to you?â he says gruffly, looking over your head. You look up to meet his eyes and he looks genuinely confused.Â
âOf course they didâŠâ, you let your unfinished sentence linger in the air, hoping he wonât make your pathetic mouth finish it. You feel absolutely ridiculous. You feel one foot tall again. Here you are, at the end of the world, jealous over a man you barely fucking know. Jealous. You. As if you have any right. He squeezes your hand, making your eyes crunch tight in defeat. You have to complete your thought. Out loud. How embarrassing. âWho are they to you? Are you⊠seeing any of them? Not that itâs my bâ business or anything, I just didnâtââ
âOh, PJ.âÂ
He cups your face in both his hands and the move has you flinching in surprise. He brings his mouth to yours slowly, so slowly that youâre sure you could have stopped it ten times if you wanted to. But you donât want to. You donât move a muscle, youâre pretty sure you donât even breathe. And then his lips are on your lips. Time freezes. The whole world stops turning and itâs just him and you; his mouth on yours and his large warm hands surrounding your face and his nose pressing into your cheek.Â
After a moment the world starts turning again. You hear the other women continue to move in and out of the kitchen behind you, paying no mind to Joelâs lips on yours, as if it's the most natural thing in the world. His hands slip to your shoulders and he places more gentle kisses on your lips, your cheeks, your nose. Joel takes your hand and leads you into the dining room, guiding you to sit in the seat next to his at the head of the table.
The meal is hot and delicious, cheerful conversations drift over the tabletop as everyone eats. Joel sees your wide eyes staring at him the entire time, picking at your food, unable to process the kisses heâd bombarded you with. Heâs not sure why he did that, a voice inside him was screaming not to, worried heâd scare you off and youâd be out the door miles away by now.
He kept himself in his office all afternoon, trying unsuccessfully to distract his thoughts from you. When he finally came out and saw you in the kitchen, his kitchen, his home⊠he couldnât help himself. You were in his home. He grabbed your hand and pulled you close but he sensed you were upset. Were you jealous?
Sure, he probably should have told you about the other women in his house, but you were just beginning to trust him. He didnât think he could spin this in a way that you would be comfortable with. He didnât think he would be able to get you here if he told you the truth. So he didnât. And when given another opportunity to tell you the truth in the kitchen, he kissed you instead.
It doesnât matter. They donât matter. Whatever relationship he had with these other women doesnât matter as long as youâre here, and youâre here now. Youâre in his home. Youâre his. Heâs going to make you his. Itâs all he wants now. Youâre all he wants now.
â
You sleep warm in your bed the first night in your new home, but stay up late listening to the gentle creaking of the house. The occupants prove to be sound sleepers, and you find out why when youâre woken up before the sun the next morning. The four women who arenât Tess rouse you from your sleep and give you a choice of inside or outside chores. You choose outside, hoping the crisp dawn air will help wake you up. It doesnât.Â
You spend the day tired but busy doing chores with a woman named Sasha. She was only a teenager when the outbreak started but she has some really great survival skills. Before lunch she takes you to the basement where she teaches you how to assemble shotgun shells. After lunch she walks with you to the nearby creek to do some fishing. Well, she fishes, you keep thinking you have something âbig on the lineâ when actually your hook is just caught on rocks. Joel and Tess spend all day out of the house and when you finally see him again, sitting next to him at dinner, you can barely keep your eyes open.
The following day is easier for you, since you slept early and solid through the night like everyone else. On this day after lunch Joel has been in his office, meeting with a long line of people one or two at a time. Each one shakes his hand as they leave, thanking him for his time. You wonder how many meetings like this he missed while he sat in your room reading to you for the last two weeks. Youâre sitting in the adjoining room, doing a terrible job of mending holes in socks - you think they might be Joelâs â when the last person leaves his office.
He looks around the otherwise empty room and then his eyes meet yours. He smiles at you and holds his hand out in an invitation. You canât help but hesitate. You spent hours every day with him for two weeks and now itâs been days since youâve been alone with him for even one minute. The nerves bubble up in your stomach and youâre not sure if you want to run towards him or run away from him. You opt for the former, grabbing his hand and letting him pull you into his office.
The door closes behind you and suddenly youâre very aware of how alone with him you are. Youâve been alone with him every day in the clinic, with the door wide open, voices drifting down the hall from the other rooms. This feels different. The air feels charged. Youâre suddenly terrified, an ice cold fear washes over your entire body as he bears down on you. He comes toe-to-toe with you as you press your back against the door and look in his eyes.
You look like youâve been dropped into the lionâs den. He notices your panting breaths. The last time you looked this scared you were pointing a pair of scissors at him. Hey, he coos, careful not to touch you. Whatâs wrong, he hums, fighting the urge to pull you tight to his chest. You shake your head and stammer, unable to form a sentence. He slowly reaches behind you and twists the doorknob.
Joel pushes the door back open a couple inches, whispering we can leave that open, as he walks to the other side of the small room. He sits down at one end of a large leather couch and points to a stack of books on the table, drawing your attention to it. The books. Youâd forgotten about the books. Youâd dropped them on a table when you arrived and so much was going on theyâd slipped your mind. Your hammering pulse begins to calm as you join him on the couch and inspect the books heâs picked.Â
You hand him White Fang. Itâs shorter than some of the other books in the stack but it was one of your favorites as a child. Not your favorite â you still havenât seen that one presented to you yet. He takes the small paperback and begins to read you the opening paragraph as you settle your mind and relax your body, curved into the opposite end of the big brown couch.
This is how the following weeks go. Your mornings and early afternoons are filled with chores, working side-by-side with the other women in the house. Your evenings are dominated by sleep, heavy and healing after days filled with hard work. Three times a week you take your turn in the townâs impromptu bath-house, bathing in one of their tubs â previously a horse trough â full of hot water. Twice a week you gather with the rest of the Valley in a communal meeting at the church followed by a large meal, and every Friday entertainment events go on around the town square ranging from sporting events to dances.
But every day, without fail, you get time alone with Joel. He pulls you into his office before, after, or between meetings and reads to you. Sometimes it goes on for hours and sometimes he can only give you twenty minutes. But he gives you that time every day. You donât see him giving that time to anyone else in the house, not even Tess, and so your initial feelings of jealousy fade away.
The only thing you fight now is your own mind. Youâve been with men before, youâve been in relationships before. Youâre not a virgin and youâre not a prude. But youâve also been hurt by men before. Too many men and more times than you care to recall. You donât think Joel would hurt you like that. You donât think Joel would hurt you at all. But then again, you donât remember thinking most of the other men would hurt you either, until they did. Youâve learned not to trust.
â
The second time Joel kissed you was days after the first, when he finished White Fang. Just a gentle kiss on your lips as you left his office. The next day he repeated the motion and then it became an everyday occurrence. Shortly after, it became a habit to kiss him as you entered his office. You would casually peck his lips as you passed by him at the doorway. He would close the door, save for the last few inches, and join you on the couch.
What started as a sprinkle quickly turned into a storm. Youâre still too scared to ask him to close the door all the way behind you but you canât get enough of him when youâre alone in that room together. What began on opposite sides of the couch quickly changes to you practically sitting in his lap as he reads to you. His hands find yours, or rest on your knees, or wrap around you and pull you to his chest so you can listen to his heartbeat. You start to feel safe.
You donât even pick the books anymore, he just grabs a paperback off the shelves behind him â the selection lately has been John Grisham. Theyâre taking a lot longer to get through too, since heâs constantly stopping to talk to you and flirt with you and ask you questions. He sneaks a lot of kisses in between chapters too, but heâs pretty sure you like it.
He thinks you also like the way he finds your hand underneath the dinner table each night, always meeting his eyes with a smile. In the mornings, he meets you in the hallway outside the bathroom and he kisses your cheek, smelling your sleep-mussed hair, but avoiding pressing his ever-present morning erection into you. He knows youâre still skittish and he doesnât want to push you. He knows you just barely trust him and he wonât do anything to endanger that. He doesnât want to give you a reason to pull away from him.
Joelâs reading A Time to Kill, trying to push through a particularly difficult description of the attack and assault on Carl Lee Haileyâs young daughter, when he sees you getting antsy beside him. He stops to look over at you and sees a familiar look in your eye.You look like youâre uncomfortable, your eyes glazing over and your body becoming twitchy and restless.
âDo you want to stop?â he asks quietly, his hand softly stroking the leg you have in his lap.
âWhen was your birthday?â you ask, in an attempt to change the subject.
âMâ My birthday?â Youâre not making eye contact, you look distracted, miles away.
âYeah. When you told me how old you were, you said you just turned it. When was your birthday?âÂ
âYeah I just had my birthday in September.âÂ
You finally look at him, your brows stitching together. âIsnât it October now?â
âYes,â he waits for this line of questioning to make sense. Then he realizes maybe it wonât make sense. Maybe youâre just craving a distraction.
âDid I know you when it was your birthday?â
âYes,â he rubs your leg more, âYou were at the clinic.â
âWhen?âÂ
âDo you remember a night when I brought you an apple dessert?â
âYouââ, your eyes move around the room, âYes, I remember. That was your birthday?â He nods. Youâre not looking at him, but he knows you can see him nodding in your peripheral vision. âI wasnât very nice to you that day,â you say, suddenly sounding sad.Â
âItâs okay, you didnât know.â
âWhy did you spend all that time with me when I wasnât nice to you and it was your birthday?â
âI didnât wanna be anywhere else, PJ.â You close your eyes tight, letting the silence hang between you.
âDo you think Jake gets Carl Lee off for the murders?â You change the subject again, asking him to spoil the ending of the book for you.
âYeah, I think he does,â he answers, and you take a deep breath.
âThatâs good,â you say, as you reach forward and slip the book gently out of his fingers, returning it to the shelf behind him.Â
You lay your head in his lap and spend the rest of your time together that afternoon with his fingers carding through your short hair, comforting you. He hopes you know he meant what he said. He knew it then as he knows it now. There isnât anywhere else heâd rather be than with you, birthday or not.
â
As the end of October arrives, it signals that youâve been living in Joelâs house for a month. The past month, in addition to the two weeks previous to that at the clinic, have your side completely healed. All the physical work you do around the homestead has helped you gain your strength back and then some. Youâre most definitely at âa hundred percentâ. You would be physically okay to leave at any time, and yet, leaving is the furthest thing from your mind.
Joel is on your mind. All the time. The way he holds your hands, the way he pushes his nose to yours and makes you laugh, the way he kisses your lips, your hands,, your forehead, and your neck. The way he looks at you. The way he looks at you. Itâs equal parts exciting and terrifying. And the way he makes you feel is the same. You want him so badly. You donât know if you can trust him. You donât even know if you can trust yourself.Â
You long for that office door to click shut, to be completely alone with him. You want to feel his arms wrap around you, you want to feel his hands roam along your body, you want to feel his lips on your skin. You want to feel him everywhere. The thought of it sends jolts of electricity through you. The thought of him makes you wet. Youâre sure that if that door latched you would be all over him like a rabid animal.
But the thought of that kind of intimacy is deliriously intimidating. You think of the first man who touched you like that. Too young, you were too young to be touched there. It frightened you. You lied still like a scared rabbit, hoping he would think you were asleep and stop. But he didnât stop. You think about the last man who touched you like that. It wasnât even that long ago, with dirty rough hands and a burning touch. He told you in your ear that you liked it, but all you remember is feeling pain.
Thatâs the fear that grips you out of nowhere, that keeps you frozen still and awkward when Joelâs hands roam too far over your body, that keeps you from fulfilling any one of your fantasies of having him naked on top of you. You still have trouble trusting him completely. What if he uses you and then discards you like the others did? What if he hurts you, causes you pain in your body and your heart and your soul?Â
One night he pulls you out onto the front porch and kisses you against the house, the chill of night giving visible life to your hot breaths, nothing but the din of crickets in the background. You hear him say so beautiful as he drags his cheek against yours, lightly scratching you with his facial hair. Your body reacts before you can reason with yourself, you push him away from you.
âDonât call me that.â
âWhat? Donât call you what?â His arms are still holding your hips, the crease between his eyes deep as he looks across your face.
âBeautiful,â you say quietly, the cover of darkness not giving you any courage. âD- Donât call me that.â
âCan I ask why?â
âYeah, cause Iâm not.â You swallow around the lump in your throat. âI might be a lot of things but Iâm not beautiful, so when you say it to me, it feels like Iâm hearing a lie. And I donât want you to lie to me.â
He wraps his arms around you tight, pulling you back together, his chest warm against yours. He rests his head on your shoulder and his hot breath fans across your neck. He places gentle kisses there while he whispers I wonât lie to you into your skin repeatedly. He thinks of the half-truths heâs already told you and decides that they donât count. The things heâs done in the past donât count. All that counts is the man he is going forward, the man he is with you.Â
â
The next night youâre on cleaning duty with Bianca and youâre both in the kitchen after dinner washing up from the meal. You think you like her the best out of everyone here. Not just because sheâs sweet, which she is, but because sheâs very quiet. She barely says five words all day and when youâre in her company you can just relax. You can let your mind wander. You can get lost in your thoughts of Joel.
Tonight she doesnât feel good and youâre not sure how to help her. You tried saying something to Tess earlier but she told you that Bianca could come to her if she needed to talk. Well Bianca doesnât really talk, so youâre not sure what to do. Joel walks in the kitchen and smiles at you, immediately noticing your look of concern. He takes a quick look at Bianca and sends her to bed, telling her that heâll help you finish your chores.
You know heâs a kind person but you feel like part of the reason why he sent her upstairs was so he could put his hands on you and kiss you, which he does nearly every moment youâre alone. But not this time. This time he stands by your side as Bianca was, taking his task seriously, helping you to scrub and dry the dayâs dishes.Â
You break the silence and tell him that you always hated having to do the dishes as a kid, how it kept you from the other things you wanted to do after dinner. He asks if you still hate it and you tell him no. You tell him that since thereâs no TV shows to watch, no mall to go to, and no friends to call, youâre pretty content with washing some dishes. He chuckles and says his daughter used to hate washing dishes too.Â
Daughter?
âYou had a daughter?âÂ
His hands still their movement. He didnât mean to let that slip. Shit. Fuck. Sarah flashed into his mind and his guard is so low around you, it just came out. Yeah, he nods, resuming his scrubbing. He doesnât want to say anything else. He doesnât want these memories to come rushing in like a tsunami and drown him.Â
âHer name was Sarah. She uhâŠ.â he begins, dreading this conversation.
He feels your soapy hand cover his under the water. You grab his fingers, causing him to let go of the dish he was clutching. You squeeze his hand and when he looks up and meets your eyes heâs hit like a fucking wrecking ball. Wetness rims your waterline. Youâre staring straight through him, right into his soul. You see him. You see him. And heâs never going to be the same.
âI know,â you hum. The whole universe is in your eyes. âYou donât have toââ
âDied,â he finishes his sentence.
You nod. You know. Everyone lost everything when the world ended. You most likely lost loved ones too. Youâre all just broken shells of people walking around now, although some are worse off than others. Your lip trembles and your eyes are wet like youâre going to cry tears for his lost Sarah too. You open your mouth and begin to speak with a shaky breath.
âOne time when I was a pre-teen, I put off washing the dishes until it was very late, almost bedtime. When I was done my dad wouldnât let me get ready for bed. He called me to come sit with him in the living room while he watched the ten oâclock news. A segment came on about teen pregnancy and the whole time I just sat there embarrassed, not understanding what we were watching, or why. When that story was over he clapped his hand on my shoulder and said, âokay then, goodnight,â and sent me to bed. It wasnât until years later I realized that was his version of the sex talk,â you finish with a chuckle.
Joel huffs out a laugh with you, finding your dadâs awkward solution somewhat relatable.Â
âI just gave her a book,â he recalls, âDonât even remember who I got it from, I think one of her friendâs momâs? I donât remember but⊠it didnât go over well. There was a lot of eye rolling.â
Your eyes pinch together as you both laugh, causing the tears that had welled up to spill from the sides. You finish drying the last dish and head upstairs to bed, but before you can turn towards your room he gently grabs your wrist and places your hand in one of his. His face is calm and peaceful. He looks content. He reaches his other hand up and cups your face. You think heâs going to kiss you, but instead he just says thank you. He holds your face a moment longer before squeezing your hand and heading into his room.Â

Pet Sitter AU
So anyways ummm I've had this locked and loaded for a while. It's not complete. Buuuut it's a comfort AU for me so I shall talk about it when I need it most! (Like rn) I have more I'll add eventually, but if you have any world-building questions lmk!!!
-------------------------------------
The premise/the basis of all this is Cater needs to get away from home when he's finally at his breaking point and ends up leaving, no plans, nothing packed, just his wallet, his phone + charger, and the clothes on his back. He ends up calling in an old favour to Trey, a classmate he hasn't seen or spoken to in years, who comes to pick him up off the street and lets him stay in his apartment he shares with Che'nya until Cater can get back on his feet.
Cater recognizes he needs to get his shit together, but he's a depressed mess and has largely been isolated from other people besides his family, so when another person in the apartment needs a last minute pet sitter, he figures it's a small enough task he can handle.
this is based off of this comic
In which Idia has a skrunkly ass stray cat named Meat Spud (Cater does not want to touch it whatsoever bc it has. no fur. He's used to his sister's big fluffy spoiled cats)
The Apartment
So like. Idk, my brain liked the idea of each floor of an apartment building being more luxurious than the floor below it. Im by no means an architect or have any bg in this stuff, apologies if it like. Irks anyone sldkjfhlskdjf
it's a 15 story apartment building with roof access
- First Floor - Apartments are one bedroom, a kitchen and a living room, as well as a small "porch" area outside. There are communal bathrooms + laundry. Unfurnished Rent is ~$560 a month (about 20 apartments are available) There's also a communal deep freeze for anyone who needs more room for their food, but the apartment is not responsible for any losses that may occur.
- Second floor - Still one (larger) bedroom/kitchen/living area, but you get your own bathroom (woo), but the shower is like. the same design as a public shower, you know? like just the spout coming out from the wall. Tenants are still expected to use the laundry room on the first floor though. Small balcony/outdoor area. Comes with a bed + couch. Rent is ~$610 a month (about 15 apartments available)
- Third floor - options for two bedroom apartments become available, but the rooms are Very Small. Balcony is about the same size as the second floor. There is room for a small dining area. The bathroom has a free standing shower. Rent is ~$660 a month (Also about 15 apartments available) Rent has some variation depending on whether you get a furnished or partially furnished apartment
- Fourth floor - More spacious in general, better options for two bedroom spaces if needed, there is a gym on this floor which kinda cuts into how many apartments are available. Most are partially furnished, but there are options available/the lease is negotiable to a certain extent. Still just a free standing shower in the bathroom. Yes there's still a balcony. Rent is ~$700 a month (only about 7 apartments available because of the gym)
- Fifth floor - Tenants finally get their own laundry machines lkjshdfkjdf woo, more spacious, etc. they get a bath + shower combo in the bathroom + a decent sized balcony. They can opt in/out for once a month room service for an additional $50 a month (this increases by $10 the higher the floor but remains an option). Rent is ~$800 a month (about 10 apartments available)
- Sixth to eighth floor are all about the same, just getting slightly bigger (like by 1-3 square feet) as they go up, but they all become two bedroom options. Rent falls between ~$850-$870 with about 8 apartments available on each floor.
- ninth to twelveth floor are all about the same, they get a shower and a bath in their (2) bathrooms, like they're separate from each other, they have walk in closets in the master bedrooms, and they get a storage room. They still are 2 bedroom. Rent falls between $1100 - $1350 a month (only 6 available on each floor)
- there is a thirteenth floor, but it's not an option on the elevator. The owners of the apartment are superstitious and don't rent out any rooms on the thirteenth floor, but wanted to HAVE a thirteenth floor bc...in the event there are ghosts or something in their apartment they would be stuck on the floor with the most energy?? Idk man. Nothing is furnished. Just empty rooms. "Empty" Rooms. :)
- The fourteenth floor is like. luxury apartments. they get the whole shebang with walk in closets for every (3) bedroom, full bathrooms (2) huge livingroom, huge kitchen with up to date appliances, and once a month there's a full course meal that's just brought to the tenants for dinner. They're living the high life for the same price a lot of people are sharing a house with four people withs flkjshdlkjfsdf Rent is ~$2000-$2100 a month. There are only 4 of these apartments, the balcony wrapping around each one
- and of course, the fifteenth floor. Literally. It's like having an actual house to live in but you get a great view of the city from above. It's ridiculous. four bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, like it's just big and beautiful and bright. as for the food, it's "complimentary" (factored into rent) and happens every other week. Or it would if the people living up there didn't opt out of it lsdkjfhlksdjf the apartment owners don't care it saves them money. Rent is ~$2500 a month.
And you might be like. hey. that rent doesn't actually sound that bad.
I know.
I know. Like I share Half a house with four other girls and the total rent per month is $3100. My rent alone is $575. But I wanted to be nice (I did not plan out the rent before this and I simply do not care enough to change it I think I'm being "reasonable" with it)
ONTO THE CHARACTERS
Okay:
Basement
- Jamil (22) â Yeeeah baby he gets the whole basement to himself. Almost. Like thereâs a section for all the maintenance and storage stuff, but he gets to live at the hotel rent free because heâs friends with the owners (the Asimâs), and works for them at the front desk. He doesnât even have to do the cleaning. Itâs the freakinâ dream. In order to actually make money though, he does have side gigs so he can deck out the basement however he wants + do what he wants for fun. He has plans to keep snakes eventually, but heâs saving up for his dream enclosure as well as the extra heat lamps he would need for down there.
First Floor
- Ace (21)- Ace's mother divorced their dad she found out about some of the bad habits he had been up to. Just a little over a year ago, his mom became extremely ill and his big brother Jack became the main provider of the family, trying to take care of their mom and his little brother. Ace knew he wasn't outwardly being a burden, but he still felt like one and decided to save up and move out. Shortly after moving out, he lost his job, so he's desperately been searching for another one, but also been doing what he can as a little entrepreneur. Nothing's been super successful yet, which has been super discouraging but he has a couple repeat clients for his stickers that he makes. He also has 4 pet hamsters which he keeps on a live stream most of the time, (they're all named after card games). All he has for furniture is a desk, two rickety old chairs he probably found in an alley somewhere, his mattress and a dresser. His place is a bit of a mess with the stress he's under, and he's had to ask Jack for money a couple times which only makes him feel worse.
- Riddle (18)- Riddle has been playing violin since he was just A Baby (like 3) and had been on fairly good terms with his mother. She encouraged him to move to the city as a means of giving himself more opportunities, and she would pay for his rent. A few months in, Riddle realizes oh shit. I'm gay. And decides to come out to his mother because he has no reason to believe she wouldn't take it well. Well. she doesn't. She immediately disowns him and stops paying his rent for him. He can barely pay for one month on his own, and decides he needs a roommate. He did not really....do any digging into his roommate because he was just desperate to have one...(eventually, when things get better, he gets a pet hedgehog)
- Ruggie (21) - Riddle's Roommate :) He's the only reason Riddle's apartment is furnished, because he manages to find things on sale or on the street or whatever and clean it up. He thought Riddle was joking when he said he wanted to be a musician In This Economy. Ruggie doesn't mind one bit sleeping on the couch. He keeps himself sustained through whatever means necessary. (Doesnât really want a pet because of the cost, but likes Riddleâs hedgehog a lot)
Second Floor
- Rook (24) â Rook is a blue collar worker, I think in construction? He owns a really old, well behaved golden lab and a brand new, very energetic bichon frisee puppy. They absolutely adore each other. He has no contact with any of his family.
- Deuce (19) â Moved out to be closer to work. Heâs currently an apprentice as a mechanic, but on the side he offers blastcycle modifications (so long as theyâre legal), and also babysits! He ends up adopting like 4 German Shepard mix (unknown, theyâre not purebred) puppies with his roommate because they were both too much of bleeding hearts to give them away or sell them once they found them. It was already tight, (spaciously), because their one bedroom was already split in half with a paper divider, but they surrendered the livingroom to the puppies. Money wise, it is a little tight.
- Epel (19) â Deuceâs roomie. He was the one who found the puppies. He tried to leave them, he really did but Then He Couldnât. Epelâs family supports him because their farm is successful, itâs not âa lotâ but they send him about $150 a month just to help out in the big city. Epel met Deuce at work, his lease was almost up and asked if he could move in because Deuce was venting a little bit about rent. Epel is apprenticing as a fabricator â heâs already a pretty good mechanic because of the upkeep he had to do on the farm, but fabrication seemed fun, profitable, and secure so he decided to try it out. Lowkey has a goal to get into all the trades as an apprentice eventually. He also has his own blastcycle and does late night delivery service as a side gig.
- Jack (19) â Moved to the city to go to school. He wrote home about how he felt reallyâŠlonely without his family, and his mom ended up gifting him a Samoyed puppy the next time he came home. She sends him money for all puppy related expenses, and he works part time at a fast food restaurant to help sustain his rent. Heâs going to school on a scholarship for his athleticism, and could technically afford a nicer apartment, but heâs trying to be smart with his money. Heâs also working to develop his own fitness trainer app because he wants to help people exercise to feel good, not necessarily to loose weight or anything.
- (Nameless OC) â Sheâs like a 75 year old widow who has a crush on her upstairs neighbour on floor 4. Sheâs adorable, sheâs a little Korean grandma. Every now and then her daughter comes to visit. Her daughter is the one who ends up adopting (human) Grim + Gidel (both friends with Ortho) (Jack helps her bring up her groceries a lot)
Third Floor
- Jade + Floyd (21) â They actually live in a single room apartment, because they toured both a two bedroom and single room and found that they could make more use of bedroom space in a single room. Theyâve never met Azul in this AU (Iâll explain this later in ârelationshipsâ) and are fairly new to land. Jadeâs side of the room is all terrariums, his isopods and springtails are his baaaaabies. Floyd has a huge glass enclosure on his side of the room for his Albino Burmese Python. He thought it was a ball python when he first got it. Uh. Yeah. He puts in a lot of work and sourcing people who can teach him how to care for it properly, heâs a great snake dad. When itâs available, Jade will feed the shed skin of Floydâs snake to his isopods. Floyd also retains some of his strength from having been a mer, so itâs not entirely uncommon for him to answer the door with a snake scarf. Theyâve both got working Visas for now to be on land, and Jade is working towards figuring out all the paperwork to become land citizens for both of them. Jade works in a greenhouse, but also sells custom terrariums, Floyd works at a pizza place and LOVES it.
- Trey (23) â He works at his parents bakery basically for free, as they make sure he has enough to cover his rent, groceries and phone bills. He only moved out to escape the chaos that is his household of (hc) 11 children. He is a volunteer firefighter, and the apartment Loves him because he brings leftover treats the bakery canât sell anymore and just gives them out. Also just. The third floor smells great, all the time because heâs always baking something or other.
- Cheânya (22) â A bit of a freelancer, Trey isnât even entirely sure what Cheânya does for work, but he always pays his rent on time so he doesnât really care. Most of the time though, Cheânya works at a coffeeshop. They donât have a pet in the apartment, though Cheânya kinda wants one.
Fourth Floor
- (Nameless OC) â 76 year old Korean grandpa. Has a crush on the lady two floors below him. Theyâre adorable and will end up together eventually sldkjhlksdf
Fifth Floor
- Azul (22) â Also a musician, he plays piano and has mommyâs money sustaining him for the most part lmao Heâs managed to land a few gigs here and there, but itâs not really enough to keep him going. He ends up getting work at a museum as the person at the front desk and really enjoys it. He gets a couple perks that really make the job worth it (free lunch + 2 museum passes a month so he can go in for free with a friend. If he had any friends) He has a rather impressive tropical fish aquarium.
I donât have anyone I Want on the 6th floor
Seventh Floor
- Silver (23) â Was raised in the foster care system, but never adopted. He vaguely remembers being taken off the streets and somewhere warm by some black and pink long-haired Guy but thatâs about it. Heâs always been pretty resourceful, and runs his own, small pajama company, has been since he was 18. He mostly gets to work from home now which is really nice. He owns 2 bearded dragons. He only has a roommate because he didnât see the point in having a wasted space of a bedroom. Itâs kinda funny because itâs almost like thereâs an invisible line in the apartment where you can tell which roommate decorated which side of the space sldjfhksdjf
- Sebek (18) â Silverâs roommate. Itâs his first time living away from home and he doesnât really know how to cope. He insists he knows what heâs doing, but Silver can tell he has a lot of life skills left to develop and tries to teach him in subtle ways. While this will be mentioned again later, Sebek is emo in this au LMAO. Sebek also insists that he doesnât care about the bearded dragons, but he learns how to handle them and ends up loving them and helping Silver take care of them without being asked. Sebekâs dad helps him pay for half of his rent, but heâs responsible for his own groceries whichâŠis where he finds it more difficult to be honest. Sebek was initially going to go into school to become a dental assistant, but he finds it. So boring. And kinda gross. So he ends up going to become a veterinarian. Is his âbedside mannerâ the best with animals? No. But heâll learn. Sebek currently works part-time as a parking attendant.
Eighth Floor
- Idia (23) + Ortho (9) (this is a lil. Depressy-espressy okay?) â A little over a year ago, Ortho was in a car crash with his parents. It ended up orphaning the Shrouds and left Ortho crippled from the waist down. Idia feels like he should carry some of the blame because he didnât get there fast enough, he wasnât there to protect his brother, etc. etc. but Ortho doesnât blame him for anything. Idia did inherit the family home, but it felt too big and empty without his parents, and Ortho said he wanted a new space to try and reset. So theyâre living off their parents will + business money still, Idia doesnât really have to do much to keep it running so he can focus largely on Ortho. Orthoâs mobility is very limited early on, using only a wheel chair, but as he attends physiotherapy, he learns to use forearm crutches and heâs very optimistic about being able to walk again. Ortho attends online school, after having challenged a few grades, heâs working on grade 7 level homework/classes. Idia only takes in his cat, Meat Spud, about a month before Cater shows up. Itâs a feral, horrifically mannered little gremlin but he Loves It and is the first thing in a long time that kinda shocked him out of his depression for a little bit. Ortho named it. He also refuses to touch it lsdjhlkjsdf but he finds it funny. Ortho deeeesperately wants a Whiteâs Tree Frog because heâs done his research and knows he could handle it. He wants to name it. Cornelius. Also, the kid just generally. Loves frogs. Please let him info dump to you. Please. He knows So Much.
I got nobody in my mind until floor 13
- Lilia(???) â Heâs the âghostâ of the apartment. Not really. He is a squatter. Nobody knows how he got in. Nobody cares enough to shoo him out or complain about it because most people donât even know heâs there. Heâs got âpetâ rats. Theyâre city rats heâs befriended with food. Itâs not that he doesnât have money. Donât ask me to explain him I donât fully know how it works yet sldkjfhlskdjf
Jumping up to the 15th floor
- Vil (24) â A model, and actor and a successful fashion designer, Vil loved the concept of the apartment which was really the only reason he chose to move in rather than own his own place. He is trained as a falconer, and does have a âpetâ falcon. âPetâ as in it is not captive bred, but it was a rescue. For the most part, it flies freely, and only comes back to the apartment for the sake of companionship or for a safe place to sleep. Vil mostly keeps tabs on itâs health. (I need to research this more but like itâs less of a pet and more just a wild animal Vil has favour with and he recognizes that.) He also has two Great Danes from the same litter named Iris and Poppy
- Vizzie (21) â She is a vtuber and Vilâs roommate (will go over this more in Relationships). In person, she is *largely* non-verbal. Sheâs more of a listener/observer. She has a âpetâ crow. Shortly after being friends with Vil she found an injured fledgling and followed instructions over the phone on how to care for it to transport it to a National Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, then decides she would like to actually like to become licensed as a wildlife rehab. Officer. When that crow was cleared to return to the wild, it ended up following her around anyways, so once she finished her certification she knew legally she *could* handle the crow if need be. She ended up getting permission to set up an âenrichment stationâ on the roof, so âherâ crow can has a safe, man-made stimulation board basically and can bring any of itâs friends along, but itâs also not uncommon to see it sitting on her shoulder. It is trained well enough that she brings it into the apartment now and then, but most of itâs time is spent outside. It also loves delivering messages for her. Itâs name is Ragnar.
- Neige (22) â Youâll never guess. Yeah. Heâs a successful model, actor and fashion designer. Heâs got permission from the owners to keep pigeons on the roof. You can imagine the commotion that happens when they see Vilâs falcon, even if Vil does stay on the opposite side of the roof when he interacts with it. He likes the apartment because itâs central so all the volunteer and charity opportunities are within walking distance. He ends up also bringing home a box of sopping wet kittens at one point, but gives all but one away because of his roommate.
- Leona (25) â Neigeâs roommate. I think both his parents recently passed away, so the family business was passed onto his brother. Falena is concerned about Leonaâs mental and physical health, so offered to pay his rent for him. Leona wasnât going to say no. Currently doesnât have a job. Doesnât really plan to get a job. He will eventually become a lawyer (?). He ends up adopting the runt of the litter of kittens Neige brought home and named her Mgambo. Sheâs got a tortoise-shell coat.
----------------------------------
Others
- Kalim (22)â his parents own the apartment. He wanted to live there, but they ended up buying him his own place. It doesnât matter, heâs in the lobby every day, (no job), chattering away to Jamil and trying to contain his six ferrets and an African Grey Parrot that he keeps mostly on his shoulder. He isnât the most responsible pet owner, but he loves them and tries his best. Jamil often gives him pointers, and he listens to all of them (most are to make Jamilâs life easier but keeps Kalimâs pets safer anyways)
- Malleus (??)â Not quite sure where he lives in the city, but he knows Lilia lives at the apartment and goes to visit him often. He doesnât understand why he chooses to live the way he does, but wonât comment on it. He has a pet raven but Idrk how he got it. If itâs even legal. It is a happy bird though and thatâs what matters most.
-------------------------------------
I'll elaborate on more ships later but for now
Azul + Riddle â The twins instigate this lmao, theyâre right in between the two musicians and love just laying on their balcony after a long day and listening to both of them practice. Floyd ends up yelling down to Riddle that Azul â the pianist above them, said his music lacks emotion, and Jade tells Azul in passing that while *he* enjoys his music, the little redhead on the first floor said that his music sounds amateurish. This sparks a competition between the two. Keep in mind. They canât really hear each other. Theyâre both just swayed by the twins words . It ends up helping both of them, as Riddle realizes heâs always played the violin for his mothers approval, itâs always been mechanical to him, so he slowly starts to really tune in (hehe) to his emotions, why he chooses to play the violin, the sense of loss he feels with his mother, but still wanting to make her proud, and a part of his mind thinking if he can âbeatâ Azul, if his mother knew, she would be proud, but that slowly becomes less and less important as time goes on. Azul, on the other hand, knows that heâs had less time than the many musicians to perfect his craft, but heâs mostly been forcing himself to learn impressive sounding pieces rather than really learning the basics and practicing them. Eventually there will be a night where they can hear each other, maybe like all the electricity goes out and either out of boredom or to try and lift peopleâs spirits they both end up playing, but itâs the first time they really hear each other play and they manage to make something beautiful. The twins then âruinâ the moment after a beat of silence from both of them to ask when theyâll finally go on a date. Both immediately deny wanting anything like that. By the next week Azul mentions something about having a free pass to the museum and Riddle doesnât think itâs a date until he Gets There and realizes it is.
Idia, Cater, Viz are a polycule, but Viz dates Ace as well
Jade and Trey are a thing
Deuce and Epel, maybe?
Vil and Leona
Who knows
Not me
The rest is still being workshopped
I'll elaborate on ships later
And character aesthetics bc Vil and Viz being the resident Goths are soooo important to me.
Anyways
Uh
Ye

1Nm8 Official Fan Book vol. 2 - 1Nm8 Team Trivia
I've translated the new information on 1Nm8's from the 2nd volume of the Official ParaLive Fan Book, including their team colors, information about their apartment, relationship map and more!
Notes and explanations about the translation from me are included in [ ] .
Disclaimer: This translation is made purely for entertainment and for easy reference. It will not include any scans or pictures from the Fan Book. I highly recommend getting the Book for yourself and supporting the series if you're able.
1Nm8 Team Profile:
A 3 person unit made of unidentifiable persons, lead by an overwhelming genius
Three people who have an extremely high affinity for Phantometal, capable of producing unique illusions. Their leader, Kei, used to be the center of VISTY, but withdrew from the group due to personal circumstances. Currently, the three members of 1Nm8 live under the same roof. The otherworldly atmosphere they create moves the hearts of all who listen to their songs.
1Nm8 Team Episode:
During Kei's time as an idol, he had a fateful reunion with Rokuta as the latter played a street piano. Having nowhere to go, Rokuta and Itsuki ended up living with Kei. Filled with sadness and anger over the state of the two who had their minds broken in the Phantometal experiments, Kei begins working to end the Phantom Live.
1Nm8 according to Buraikan:
Their strength comes from purity, but they have a certain fragility to them, as well. They're unprecedented musicians. Very intriguing.
1Nm8's apartment
1Nm8's share house:
The 3 live together in a spacious 2LDK where Kei used to live on his own. A simple, minimalist residence, only furnished with the minimum needed for daily life. Kei's room is soundproofed, and it's also used for recording songs.
Floorplan:
[The Fan Book includes a bird's eye view floor plan sketch with the rooms named. The following description is my own work based on the picture.]
In the upper part of the floor plan there's the entrance, with the WC to the left and the washroom (laundry room) to the right of the door. There is a small storage unit opposite the entrance.
There's a large space for the kitchen, living and dining area (open plan) in the center of the apartment. To the left, there's the bedroom, which is a long and narrow-ish rectangle with a bathroom above it, and to the right, there is an almost square soundproofed room described as both Kei's room and the Rec room. It has a walk-in closet.
They have a long, narrow balcony running along Kei's room, the living/dining room and the bedroom. There's 2 entrances to the balcony, from Kei's and the living room.
[The bedroom is described simply as "bedroom", not "Itsuki's and Rokuta's room". It was said or shown a couple of times, including in the comic in the fanbook, that the 3 often share one bedroom. Kei's room is probably the one he used while living alone, and where he goes when he's composing and sleeping at weird hours, as you'll see in the timetable of his day.]
1Nm8's relationship map
Kei â Rokuta: Beloved younger brother
Rokuta â Kei - Love!!
Kei â Itsuki - Trust
Itsuki â Kei - Gratitude for Kei taking him in
Itsuki â Rokuta - Raised at the same research facility
Rokuta â Itsuki - Someone who's like an older brother
Itsuki & Rokuta â Ryu - Raised at the same research facility
Kei â VISTY - Former VISTY center
[The relationship maps seem to show the minimal 'default setting' at the start of new teams' stories. For exaple, Rokuta's budding friendship with Ryu and Shiki isn't reflected. Itsuki's and Kei's conflict with TCW, or VISTY's grudge towards Kei, isn't either.]

Just sharing the floorplan of a house I just built for a family in my BaCC, because I got very happy with it. Just furnished to show which room is which. This house has:
A downstairs with a master bedroom, a bathroom, a nursery and a workshop/office, a big open space for kitchen/dining with room for skill objects, and a smaller living room nook. The nursery and workshop could both become bedrooms if needed, or a wall taken down to make a bigger living room. My sims don't tend to need all that much living space though.
Upstairs are six bedrooms and three bathrooms. Yes, this family is biiig, and I really loved the house they lived in, but after the triplets were born they needed something bigger and I didn't want to expand the house they had, so someone else can live in that one, and the Werthers get to move into this one instead. There is a little room on the upstairs for some skilling spaces, and all bedrooms are big enough for my sim's needs.
This is loosely inspired by this real-life floorplan but obviously I didn't follow it that much. It's a struggle making houses for many sims not look huge in hood view, and this was the second attempt. The first one was 12 squares wide, but this one is 10, which helped make it look a little less bloated.

Making Fun of Rich People Round 2
This one's a little bit different. This house is in Arizona, listed for a clean 20 mil, eight bedrooms ten baths, 16,000 square feet. The outside is really nothing special, looks like every other southwestern wanna-be movie star mansion so let's
Kicking things off with a bang.
You know. I can't even say anything bad about this. Like, the other house, they were people who clearly had more money than taste and built their house as a shrine to their bank accounts. It was not meant to live in, but to prove their wealth. It was ridiculous and stupid and they deserved to be made fun of.
These people. These people know their house is ugly. They know that table was an obscene waste of money. They know that couch screams "my coke dealer was redecorating." They do not care. They love bringing people in and watching their expressions of horror. They rub their hands together gleefully as people try to think of a compliment that isn't too obviously pulled out of their ass.
I mean, come on. That green chandelier, they're absolutely trolling us.
And I'm going to be honest, this looks like a living room I'd actually feel comfortable hanging out in. I can see someone on that couch eating ice cream out of the carton at 3 AM. People sit on that rug and play board games on that table. These people furnished their house to live in, not to display.
I am still going to tease them about it, however.
I'm laughing with them, not at them.
Is it just the angle or does that bed seem super short?
I...don't even know what I'm looking at here. I think this is the closet?
No, okay, they have a whole mall outlet store in here. This is like that one scene in Princess Diaries 2 except Julie Andrews would politely show herself out.
Why the marble. Why do you need a sitting area in your closet.
I will admit, I'm disappointed that the owner of such an interesting house has this many black pumps. I get that they go with everything, but-that's the point. They're universal. You don't need over a dozen of them. I expected better shoes.
Nobody:
Rich People: "make the bathroom...ROUND."
fr, their insanity always seems to come out full-force in the bathroom. I legitimately think rich people might not poop or bathe, because it's always some crazy shit that would be incredibly uncomfortable or downright impossible to use.
Another thing I've noticed, rich people all seem to want bathroom doors that open to the outside. Why?!
Especially when this is the outside they're opening up to!
Seriously, what is the point of this?! You're buck naked and decide to go have a smoke next to some cactuses and your giant patio geode. That's all that's out here. Why. Why.
Actually, it looks like there's little paths, which...just makes this worse, honestly. Imagine you're taking a leisurely stroll through the cactus garden and you pass your parents' bathroom patio, getting a full view of your mom taking a bath through the floor-length windows.
"Yes, in our dining hall with the light fixture that looks like birthday sparklers and our collection of Totally Real cactuses."
I've seen designers rag on those unfinished wood tables before, and while I didn't really agree with them at the time I kind of do now. I think this would look cool as like, a side table or accent table, but on a dining table it's just kind of awkward.
This is the same room, they just kept panning out.
While I made fun of the other house for their grand piano, I have no doubt that someone in this family is a drug-fueled musician. This room looks mega-comfy to lay back and watch a movie in, and I love the sheep.
I'm just...in awe of the audacity.
They didn't even try to match. Didn't even pretend like they cared. And I'm not gonna lie, the red countertop is doing something for me.
"When we want the bugs to join us for dinner."
I can't stress this enough, they have multiple patio sets.
See, the last people didn't show off all their alcohol at their bar because they thought it looked more refined not to. These guys probably have art supplies tucked away in their bar just to keep you on your toes. (they don't need a bar, these are the kind of people who carry flasks around with them)
So like...objectively, this bathroom is hideous. It's way too much, the feather thing is ridiculous, that cabinet is ugly as sin.
But I kind of love it?
Just a reminder: this is in Arizona.
...I have nothing to say here.
WHAT IS UP WITH RICH PEOPLE AND THEIR UGLY BATHROOMS?!
Again with the doorway to the outside! And I see this a lot, but so many rich people bathrooms don't have storage spaces?! Like, look at those sinks. What.
More to my theory that rich people don't have any need for bathrooms.
This is the bedroom I wanted as a thirteen-year-old and just now realized I still do.
THE WALLPAPER IS EVEN BIRBS!
Like, I can't even make fun of this. I am just in awe. This entire house looks if sixth grade me had access to the Sims 3 Create-A-Style and the motherlode cheat, and I honestly love that for them. I hope these people find a new house to be extremely fucking cool in.
Leaving with these calming lemons in the backyard! Pay no attention to all the bathrooms that open up directly to the garden.

I posted this magical property a while ago, and it's back on the market. I wonder why, b/c it's like living in a fairytale. Built in 1956 in Prescott, Arizona, it has 3bds, 2ba, and comes completely furnished with furniture & antiques, $975,014 (Wonder what $14 is for). There's also an antique horse drawn caravan that's great for guests and a carriage house on the property.
The front door, festooned with apples, opens to a whimsical stone foyer.
Look at these wonderful antiques in the living room. My mother had an antique shop and I can see that these are some of the finest.
This dining set is fantastic and look at the carved wooden fish.
Cute kitchen - love that little piece that serves as an island. The description says that the appliances are custom vintage- they are so cool.
The formal dining room is in a covered patio. Look at the colored stemware over the door.
Doors to the primary bedroom open to this wonderful antique piano. Whoever decorated this home knew what they were doing.
Bath #1 is just lovely.
Bedroom #2 is smaller but is a lovely guest room.
Bath #2 is a nice shower room.
Bedroom #3 is beautiful, too.
The carriage house is just as magical as the main house.
Downstairs houses an antique car- it's an antique, so I'd expect it to convey w/the rest of the antiques.
It looks like the upstairs is used for storage, but it would make a great sunny studio.
And, there's the caravan.
How is this for a guest room?
Look at the mailbox. There's so much to see here.
Cool fox statue with shades presides over the property.
The property measures .46 acre.

Redesigned my zelink house that I've posted before, notes under the cut on my thought process for this
Kitchen and dining room front and center, of course. I imagine Link could cook a killer meal for everyone. Table situated for easy viewing of the door from sitting down
Back door moved to the second floor, I found myself just climbing over the pond to get out in the first version and that caused issues
Used a foyer to both create a hallway and allow a more closed off room that would function as a guest room. I assume Link and Zelda would have guests sometime, and it would be best to have some privacy
Room at the end of the hallway allows for a bit of privacy, minus the guest room but it's not an everyday occurrence to have guests. Bed has its own study as well. Could technically function as a second guest bed but when I made it I was envisioning a fankid
Gallery placed more inward because 1) I hate leaving an empty space to just fall down the stairs and 2) allows more privacy for Link and Zelda's bed
Picture is of the Champion's Ballad picture. You can't hang up the real thing so I made do
Furnished square room in the center looks the same as the dining room, but there's no options for any type of couches, figured that sitting at a table would be better than the previous empty room. This table probably never sees anything outside of tea, and is more for looking over documents and books for a group or just sitting around and chatting
I had the furnished square room placed that specific way so that the stove is closest to Link and Zelda's room, since the second floor has an open section of wall I'd assume it would be a bit colder so they'd probably like a heat source
I've seen some people put the pond lower so you can just walk into it, but I prefer to put it up more. That way it acts as a barrier between the inside and the outside, and makes a place to sit to look at the view or the pond
Foyer for the back door doubles as an entrance to Zelda's study. The first version had the study connected to their bedroom, but I wasn't a fan of it for them specifically since Zelda had her well built for privacy. This way she has some privacy and even her own entrance, but it's not completely separated from the house
I removed the horse paddocks. Mostly because I'm already at room capacity, but also I basically never use horses in games ever. Just know I'd add them back if Nintendo upped the room limit in dlc or something
Room count:
Foyer x 3
Furnished Square Room x 2
Kitchen x 1
Indoor Staircase x 1
Bedroom x 3
Study x 2
Gallery x 1
Garden Pond x 1
Outdoor Stairs x 1
