Watermelon Moonshine - Lainey Wilson
this is my first fic so enjoy :))
It was right after senior year
Just before the summer disappeared
We went a-ridin' them old farm ruts
Hangin' out on the gate of his truck
We threw a blanket 'neath the sunset
Bein' brave as eighteen gets
We gave each other more than our hearts
With the help of a mason jar
The soft summer sun beating down you, the vacant smell of wildflowers, the slight sound of water splashing in the nearby lake.. Tonight had felt like heaven. Hell, the last few weeks had. It was just a month after your high school graduation and you were dreading going away to college but for now you were enjoying this - Luke’s family’s lake house and spending time with him. You knew the two of you’s days together were numbered but on nights like this nothing other than the warmth of his body and the subtle smell of his cologne seemed to matter.
You two were sat with your feet hanging off the dock - him still in his swim trunks from the day and you in your bikini and one of his shirts. He looked down at you and kissed the top of your head.
“Getting kinda late huh?” his voice broke the comfortable silence.
“It is but I don’t wanna go inside yet,” you said quietly, sitting up and stretching.
Luke nodded. “Hold on,” he stood up and went inside, disappearing for a moment before he reappeared with a mason jar full of moonshine in his hands - surely Ellen and Jim would be looking for it later but for now, you didn’t care.
Drinkin' watermelon moonshine
Cut the burn with a little lime
Parkin' back in them kudzu vines
I was his and every bit of that boy was minе
Too young to know what love was
But we werе learnin' on a sweet buzz
There's never nothin' like the first time
And mine's always gonna taste like
Watermelon moonshine
Six months later and you’re sitting on the edge of Luke’s bed in his dorm at Michigan. You were looking down, staring at the ground and the only noise was the soft hum of his AC unit. Luke was sitting across from you at the small desk the university provided, eyeing you before he finally spoke breaking the silence.
“I don’t think we can do this,” he said, voice emotionless. He didn’t outright say it but you knew what this meant for the two of you. For weeks you had been dancing around the idea that long-distance might not be the best option. After all - you had chosen a school across the country. Everyone had warned the two of you that - despite your 2-year relationship - long distance was not for the weak and it wasn’t the best decision to bring a significant other into college.
Surely though.. That didn’t apply to the two of you. Or at least you thought. With your classes starting to become difficult and the hockey season starting up for Luke you found yourselves only talking a few times a week.
You sighed softly, still not meeting his eyes. “I know Luke.” Your voice broke as you spoke. The tension in the air was so thick it could’ve been cut with a knife.
“I’m sorry y/n,” he whispered, standing up. “We tried.”
I don't remember where we got it from
I just remember feelin' all grown up
Takin' pulls like it ain't no thing
Never told him it was my first drink
But I told him that he was the one
You're so sure when you're that young
You think you got it all figured out
And now I laugh when I think about
Drinkin' watermelon moonshine
Cut the burn with a little lime
Parkin' back in them kudzu vines
I was his and every bit of that boy was mine
Too young to know what love was
But we were learnin' on a sweet buzz
There's never nothin' like the first time
And mine's always gonna taste like
Watermelon moonshine
Laying on your back in your childhood bed, you couldn’t help but think about the empty space next to you. It had been just a few months since your and Luke’s breakup and that night’s game was playing on the TV. You were so proud of him - this was his dream. He was starting to become a standout at Michigan and you knew that he was better off without you for now.
The photos of you two from summers past were hung on your walls still along with flowers, stuffed animals, hoodies, and more that you had accumulated from him over the years of your relationship. You had tried to take them down but it only ended in you crying and your mom trying to console you.
Little did you know, your mom and Ellen had been talking. Luke was inconsolable and had gone quiet - hockey was his life now and he was unrecognizable. Though he had thought the breakup was a good decision, he was beginning to regret it immensely. You were the love of his life.
I thought that high would last forever
But that ain't what it does
Maybe we were drunk in love
Or maybe we were just
Drinkin' watermelon moonshine
Cut the burn with a little lime
Parkin' back in them kudzu vines
I was his and every bit of that boy was mine
Too young to know what love was
But we were learnin' on a sweet buzz
There's never nothin' like the first time
And mine's always gonna taste like
Watermelon moonshine
Watermelon moonshine
You sat anxiously in your seat at the Prudential Center, anticipating the start of the game. The lights lowered and the announcer came over the intercom, announcing Luke’s rookie lap.
Though it had been a year now, you missed him more than ever. Both of you had been with other people - but it had all ended badly. Now, you were sat in the stands next to his parents in his jersey again.
After the game, you waited next to his car for him. As soon as he spotted you, his face lit up.
“Y/n,” he smiled, going over to you. There was a hint of uncertainty but he pulled you into a hug nonetheless.
“Luke,” you spoke, the sound of his name on your lips all too familiar.
“What are you doing here?” he asked, pulling away from you now and finally asking the unspoken question between you two.
“I miss you,” your voice lowered, clearly hesitant to speak those words. “I think we should try again.”

you’re not from around here , are you? i figured because you totally just missed JULIAN HENDRICKS walking by . don’t tell me you don’t know who he/him is ? they kind of look like mason gooding and i could be wrong but i think that they might be 27 years old right now . they’ve been living in palmview for the last sixteen years and i don’t know if anyone has ever told them this before but they kind of remind me of jim halpert from the office . if you stick around the town long enough you might catch them in action working at sunset villas as a realtor . you see this town isn’t really that big of a place , some folks like to call them the charmer of palmview ! they took a liking to the name too after a while , go figure . oh crap , they must have heard me yapping , they’re coming this way . i got to warn you though , rumor has it they can pretty reckless at times . i wouldn’t take it too seriously though , from the times i’ve spoken to them they seemed pretty thoughtful to me . we see each other all the time since they live in that two bedroom apartment beside me over in sunny shores . i better leave you to it , it was nice meeting you .
STATISTICS:
full name: julian andrew hendricks
nicknames: juju ( mom only )
birthday: december 12, 1996
hometown: palmview, florida
occupation: real estate agent
hobbies: self proclaimed movie buff, occasional amateur dj, frequent dog walker
lives: sunny shores
from humble beginnings, julian’s story begins in a small bungalow in palmview, florida. rented to own by eliza and jerome hendricks, the couple decided to begin their family with his older sister, julian following only 26 months after. deciding their family was complete, the two dedicated their limited resources to ensuring their children had the most fulfilling childhood possible. his love for movies began at an early age, orange vhs tapes racking up by the stack and julian begging his parents to spend hours in front of the tv. he’d spend his time mimicking the characters, analyzing their movements and re-enacting the scenes for his family after dinner. noticing his spark for acting, julian’s parents signed him up for various auditions.  this starts his stint as a childhood actor, moving the family from tiny palmview to bustling los angeles, all for the sake of his career. attending a traditional school at first, julian starred in different plays for his elementary and middle schools, along with snagging different background appearances and commercials from time to time. it was never a secret to him that this was a job, becoming more prevalent to him after landing a key role in a children’s film. constant press tours, appearances, filming, and trying to finish seventh grade all at the same time became too overwhelming, his parents noticing his passion fading and his stress rising. small outbursts from him began to occur, leading the hendrick’s family to retire julian’s acting career and move themselves back across the country. the transition wasn’t easy, reeling at his fall from grace and his return to ‘normal’ life, times were rocky in the hendrick’s house for the next few years. it’s not until he lands a minor role in his tenth grade production of the crucible that julian begins to mellow out again, finding joy amongst his cast mates. this joy included his crush that would consume him for the next two years, auditioning for roles only for the chance to be her counterpart. his love for movies returned, subscribing for a membership at the local theater’s movie club that he still holds to this day. life had returned to what it once was, julian finding new passions while finding ways to honor the old ones.  college comes and he’s faced with a crossroads: go for juilliard’s acting program and try again for his dreams, or follow his crush to the university of florida and pursue a degree in business. julian chooses the latter, despite the urging of his family, and begins his stay at u of f, a proud resident for the next four years. the first semester of his freshman year proved to be nothing he’d expected, his lack of commitment and focus on his studies causing the downfall of his potential relationship. with the loss of her, and the realization he’d chosen the wrong path, julian found himself lost and wandering. the next few years are very much look down and grind ( with the occasional party ), determined to graduate with honors and land a decent job in real estate after graduation. it’s the least he can do, he figures.  post graduation has been dedicated to finding himself. he’s settled in his real estate job and managing financially, trying to figure out where he fits in outside of his own expectations. aside from spending time with his family, he can be found doing showings and open houses during the day, and producing amateur dj sets or rewatching his ten favorite movies by night. it’s a simple life, which he’s convinced himself he prefers.

I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas — VoicePlay music video
youtube
Between promoting their season of The Sing-Off and releasing the songs for their Collide collaboration album, VoicePlay didn't put out a Christmas video in 2013. They definitely made up for it in 2014 with this combination of vocal awesomeness and visual ridiculousness.
Details:
title: I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas
original performers: Bing Crosby as Jim Hardy and Marjorie Reynolds as Linda Mason in Holiday Inn (1942)
written by: Irving Berlin
arranged by: Geoff Castellucci
release date: 28 November 2014
My favorite bits:
the jaunty tempo that makes it more upbeat than the original
their festive sweaters in Geoff's fantasy sequence
an appearance from Tony's good boy Fletcher
Layne's incredible sleigh bells — I've seen him demonstrate how he does it, and it still astonishes me how real it sounds.
the fact that Earl's fantasy isn't just having a lot of cookies, but specifically having enough to satisfy him without sharing
Tony, Eli, and Layne just barely managing to keep straight faces during the candy cane chase sequence
Geoff's lovely riff and the ending harmonies
the extended slow-mo clip, complete with the guys losing it
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
.
Trivia:
VoicePlay originally recorded this track for their 2012 holiday album, "Peppermint WInter".
The video got a nice listicle writeup in Buzzfeed.
This song was part of their rotating setlist for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party at Disney World from 2015-17.
They had previously recorded a video for an arrangement of this song as 4:2:Five (with Danny and Ryan) in 2010. It was made private along with the rest of the 4:2:Five YouTube channel when they changed their name to VoicePlay in 2012.
Eli does know what it's like to have long hair, because he used to have a full head of curly auburn locks. He decided to shave it off one day with the help of a bandmate and has maintained the look ever since.

Summary: You and Jim are partners for a project at school. And they like each other.
Warning: small amounts of kissing, and spelling mistakes. Tell me if I miss anything.
Y/n pov
(at the Library after school)
I was sitting with Jim Mason one of my classmates working on our project for history class. Actually I am nervous of working on this project with Jim, because I have a crush on this cute guy. Actually this crush has been going on for a while. And now we are partners on a history project.
And I can just get lost in his beautiful blue eyes, it is like looking at a beautiful blue ocean.
I just wish I could know if he feels the same for me. And maybe we can start a relationship together.
Jim pov
I can’t believe that for my history project I get to work with my crush. This is exciting, but I am so nervous of making a full of myself in front of her.
And maybe today can be the day I tell her how I feel. Y/n has an amazing laugh, and I love the way y/n eyes shine in sunlight.
I could never get enough of this amazing person. And i hope that maybe we both have the same feelings for each other.
“ hey y/n, I wanted to tell you something. Do you think we can take a break form this project?” I asked while I put close my history book for a moment.
“ yes Jim. And we should totally take a break.” Y/n said while she also closed her book.
“ Y/n I have feelings for you, like romantic feelings for you. And I hope you fell the same.” I said as my eyes look right at her. My heart is betting out of my chest.
“Jim I feel exactly the same way about you. And I have been for some time. I am so happy you fell the same.”
Y/n just told me she feels the same way. I can’t believe it. I feel my happiness is skyrocketing.
Y/n pov
Me and Jim have feelings for each other . I can’t believe this is happening. All I want to do is jump up and down form happiness. And I want to know what its like to kiss this guy in front of me.
My head is leaning more into Jim’s head, my lips are moving towards his lips. And his lips are moving towards my lips.
When we kissed I can feel sparks flying and this is so magical.
I just can’t believe this is happening. Omg, and can’t believe we have the same feelings for each other. And I am so happy to know we feel the same.
And know we are officially boyfriend and girlfriend. I asked him to be my boyfriend.
This is one of the best days of my life.
Tag list (Cody Fern fanfics): @morby
Thanks for reading. I hope everyone enjoy this. And also it is my first fanfic for Jim Mason. And I am excited to write more. Also sorry this fanfic is a bit short for some people.

Happy Black History Month!
Today is Feb. 1, which means for the US, it is the start of Black History Month.
I'm not going to pretend I know anything about what it's like to be Black in the US, but what I can do is give a brief summary of history.
About 250 years ago, the US became a country. Freedom was it's motto, but the majority of its population was forced to watch the freedom of the white man from afar.
Slaves were only counted as 3/5 of a person, and this was considered a courtesy because the South wanted more votes in Congress, but the North fought even the 3/5 Compromise since this would give the South more power in legislation.
It wasn't for another several decades that American slaves were finally given a chance at freedom, but first the then Republican Party had to fight the Mason-Dixon line, the 1850 Compromise, voter fraud, and so many other kinds of push back that the South receded and started a war before slaves were finally free.
But that's not the end of story. African-Americans were still exploited, lynched, harassed, and discriminated against, problems that are still not fixed.
After the Civil War came sharecropping, basically another form of slavery.
Next was Jim Crow.
Then Plessy v. Ferguson.
There were victories. The 13th Amendment officially outlawed slavery; the 14th gave all male citizens equal rights; and the 15th established franchise for all male citizens.
But they weren't perfect. Jim Crow laws did their best to keep Black people from voting, and Plessy v. Ferguson made sure segregation allowed equal rights to die.
Future laws would help, but nothing could stop racism from groups like the KKK from killing Black people practically unencumbered.
Thankfully, the Civil Rights Movement, led by Martin Luther King Jr., would ignite a fire in Black Americans and sympathizers that would result in several successful fights against segregation and the passing of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
Things would continue to improve as more and more people realized that racism is horrible and disgusting, but white privilege remains a problem to this day, most recently in George Floyd's death and several others like it.
Everyday, thousands of people turn to groups like BLM to fight for equal rights, and everyday, progress is made.
But equality will never be reached unless everyone works for it.
The road to equality is a marathon, and we're not finished.

Long one today. And it is not going to be an easy read, so decide now.
In the weeks leading up to the November 2, 1920 elections, the small unincorporated Florida town of Ocoee, just northwest of Orlando, saw an alarming uptick in parades of white supremacists' marches and rallies, vowing that no Black citizen would be permitted to vote. Sure enough, on November 2 many determined Black citizens did indeed turn up at polling places and were barred from entering on one flimsy Jim Crow pretext or another; and in many instances where they did enter, found their names "mysteriously" absent from registration rolls. Not everyone was so easily dissuaded, and a lawsuit was filed against the County that very day by one Mose Norman, a well-to-do orange grove owner. Norman returned from Orlando later that afternoon after having met with Judge John M. Cheney, an aspiring Senate candidate who was himself a strong advocate for Black voter registration. Judge Cheney instructed Norman to return to Ocoee and collect the names of every Black citizen who had not been permitted to vote and to also record the names of each and every poll worker who had denied them. Mose Norman did so and defiantly decreed, "We will vote, by God!"
The response from the Ku Klux Klan and their Dixiecrat apologists/fanboys was predictable and immediate: over the next two days more than 25 homes, the masonic lodge, a school, and the African Methodist Episcopal Church would be burned to the ground --some with people still inside. In total an estimated 56 Black people would be brutally murdered, and an entire Black population essentially purged, not only from the town itself but very nearly from historical memory.
One of the first people to be murdered by the mob was Julius "July" Perry, a longtime friend of Norman; another well-to-do farm owner, and a respected local labor leader and church deacon, known for aggressively speaking out on behalf of Blacks to be educated, and to stand up for themselves as full and first-class citizens. In an essay Ocoee On Fire by Jason Byrne, Perry is described as a "civil rights leader before there was a civil rights movement." Having been identified by an angry white mob as an "instigator," Norman Mose had fled to Perry's home but unfortunately the mob soon twigged to Mose's whereabouts and surrounded Perry's home. The ringleader, a former Orlando police officer named Sam Salisbury, was the first to force his way into the house. Unfortunately the specifics of the confrontation are widely conflicting, which of course muddies an honest reckoning of events even decades later. Perry's wife and children, also cornered in the house, defended themselves --in particular his daughter Coretha swung a rifle into Salisbury's stomach, which (apocryphally) then fired and prompted hails of bullets from both inside and outside the house. Two of the mob were killed as they tried to force their way into the back door, and July and Coretha were both wounded, but in the confusion Perry's family managed to escape. By then the word had gone out and additional Klan had descended on the small town in more than 50 cars, having arrived from surrounding counties and towns. The so-called "local militia," curiously populated by more outsiders than actual locals, organized a manhunt and Perry was soon arrested. Later that evening a lynch mob descended on the county jail where Perry was being held, and local sheriff Frank Gordon promptly handed over the keys to his cell.
The following morning Perry's beaten and bullet-ridden body, having allegedly been dragged through the streets by vigilantes, was found hanging from a telephone pole near the entrance to the Orlando Country Club --in easy view from the front of Judge Cheney's home. The message was clear. Perry's body was quietly interred in an unmarked grave until 2002, when a local movement finally deduced his remains' location and at last moved him to a memorial grave at Greenwood Cemetery in Orlando.
In a weirdly uncharacteristic (and frankly suspicious) reversal of the present-day imperative that is currently being pushed by Florida education officials, a law was signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis requiring that the Ocoee Election Day Massacre be taught in Florida schools. A section of State Route 438 has been renamed July Perry Highway, and historic markers have been placed and dedicated. Perhaps the most significant landmark, though, is Perry's gravesite itself --traditionally after every election, scores of voters drop by to affix their "I Voted" stickers to the headstone.

When you really think about it, Carisi might also be the only father-like figure Mason has in his life.
Cause we all know it's not Jim Rollins in that role for his grandson
Honestly, you're probably right. And I guess I'm thankful for that and looking forward to the day that Mason can just live full time with Rollisi (since Amanda does have custody of him). Though probably not any time soon cause three kids and a baby might drive them both insane; but maybe eventually.
Or the day they are all (Amanda, Kim, Beth Ann) fucking free from Jim Rollins on and for all. (Still wanting for SVU to throw me a bone and just kill his ass)

Todd Boehly axes Chelsea director Christopher Vivell after seven months in an unexpected U-turn
Tumblr media
Todd Boehly axes Chelsea director Christopher Vivell after seven months in an unexpected U-turn Chelsea's technical director, Christopher Vivell, has left the club in less than a year, amidst a period of changes led by Todd Boehly.  Vivell, who previously worked at RB Leipzig handling recruitment and scouting, joined Chelsea in December.  He also served as head of scouting and recruitment at Red Bull Salzburg, where he played a significant role in signing Erling Haaland and Karim Adeyemi during his tenure in Austria. Despite being brought in by Boehly as a long-term replacement for former Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech, Vivell's time at the club lasted only seven months.  His departure comes after Cech and several other staff members left the club following Boehly's takeover last summer. According to the Daily Mail, Christopher Vivell has resigned from Chelsea and is currently on gardening leave.  As a result, he is not involved in any decision-making processes leading up to the new Premier League season, during which Chelsea aims to improve upon their disappointing 12th-place finish from the previous season. During his tenure at Chelsea, Vivell's role encompassed overseeing football operations worldwide, while talent management and recruitment were handled by Joe Shields, Kyle Macaulay, and Jim Fraser. Additionally, data and analysis were under the leadership of Matthew Hallam. Vivell is believed to have played a part in the signing of Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid during the January transfer window.  He was also seen in the announcement photo for Benoit Badiashile's signing. With Vivell's departure, Winstanley and Stewart will take over his responsibilities as they continue to work on the football structure of the club. The Blues have experienced a significant transformation this summer after Mauricio Pochettino took over as their new manager.  A total of 16 senior players, including Kalidou Koulibaly, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Mateo Kovacic, Mason Mount, Kai Havertz, and Christian Pulisic, have left Stamford Bridge. On Friday night, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang also departed to join Marseille, making him the latest high-profile player to leave.  Surprisingly, Chelsea allowed him to leave on a free transfer, despite having one year remaining on his contract in west London. Regarding new signings, Chelsea has brought in six first-team players, including Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku, who joined the team this summer.  Additionally, there are expectations that they will secure the signature of a midfielder before the transfer window closes, with Moises Caicedo being strongly linked to the club. Speaking ahead of his side's friendly against Brighton in the United States, Pochettino said: "The ideal world - we can see after if we get that. Maybe we do need, even if we do well in the competition we need 23-24 players. Max 25, keepers included. Less than 25 is better. We need to be right and need to be able to choose the player and profile. "The balance is important. Sometimes you get the balance with less. It's not that you can't manage the players it's that they can't play. Where are they going to get the motivation to play and to train if they are not involved? It’s not going to be easy for them and not fair and we can't ask them to be happy every day. "We cannot blame the players. We need to be clear and to be strong in our decision and be right in the numbers of players if we think there can be injuries or suspended but not so big." Stranger Things Season 5 Release Date: Unlock the Mysteries of the Upside-Down
Tumblr media
It has been a long wait, but the day when Stranger Things Season 5 will finally be available to stream online has finally arrived. Get ready to go back to the upside-down because it's almost here! The return of Eleven and the rest of the group is something that fans of the hit supernatural series eagerly expect. With the promise of even more spine-tingling thrills and nostalgic 80s vibes, this is one release that you won't want to miss out on.
Stranger Things Season 5 Release Date
There has been no announcement regarding a premiere date for Stranger Things Season 5. Nonetheless, hints have been dropped in conversations with the show's stars about when the season would begin and a potential release window. According to Noah Schnapp, production could start as early as May 2023. Next, Finn Wolfhard suggested that Stranger Things Season 5 could premiere in early 2024,as per the reports. The lengthy post-production time required for Season 4 means there will be a significant lag between the filming of Season 5 and the actual release. Whether or whether Stranger Things season 5 will be broken into two parts, like season 4, is also up in the air. That wasn't done maliciously, even if the decision was met with criticism (especially after the first section concluded).
Tumblr media
Given the unusual length of the season, the Duffer Brothers have admitted the binge format has been introduced in order "to get it to you as fast as possible." It's unlikely that Netflix's flagship show's final season will be shorter than the previous one. Thus, the finale may be stretched out over a more extended period.
Stranger Things Season 5 Expected Cast
While there have been no confirmed cast updates for Stranger Things Season 5, fans can be assured that their favorite characters will return. Season 5 of Stranger Things should continue that trend of not including polarizing casting changes. Characters that have died or may have perished, such as Sadie Sink's Max, whose fate was left unknown in the season 4 conclusion, are likely to return as well. The following actors and actresses are confirmed to return for Season 5 of Stranger Things: - Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven) - Finn Wolfhard (Mike) - Noah Schnapp (Will) - Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas) - Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin) - David Harbour (Jim Hopper) - Winona Ryder (Joyce) - Joe Keery (Steve) - Maya Hawke (Robin) - Natalia Dyer (Nancy) - Charlie Heaton (Jonathan) - Eduardo Franco (Argyle) - Bret Gelman (Murray) In the fourth season of Stranger Things, they introduced several memorable supporting characters who may return for the series conclusion. Amybeth McNulty, Tom Wlaschiha (Dmitri), and Eduardo Franco (Argyle) are all part of this ensemble (Vickie). Jamie Campbell Bower's portrayal of Vecna, the show's new primary antagonist, was the most anticipated addition. There were other stories about the release of a completely different series. - Killers of the Flower Moon Release Date: The Countdown Begins! - MHA Season 7 Release Date: Time to Start Counting Down Interestingly, Bower has already hinted that he may return: Let me put it this way: I know about season five. Infer what you will from that. ...according to The Hollywood Reporter. The characters killed off in the second half of Season 4 of Stranger Things are not expected to return. Eddie Munson, played by Joseph Quinn, died in the Upside Down, while Jason Carver, played by Mason Dye, was a secondary adversary. Until the afterlife takes a turn powered by Vecna, considering that Jim Hopper lived through being evaporated, anything seems feasible. Furthermore, it looks unlikely that Dr. Brenner will return for season 5 despite Matthew Modine's recent proposal. When to expect Stranger Things and related details. A window
a chair that rocks and maybe swivels
a collection of just so books that if the house was on fire, you could carry them all out in the suitcase
a pin cushion with colored pins,
and a good needle for thick fabric
easy to take care of plants where the water less is more
Daylight in a window
art that takes you to places you’ve never been and don’t have to go because you’re already there when you look at the art
A stainless steel teakettle that whistles
old suitcases—especially ones that have the key with them and perfectly clean linings with no mold or stains, and some old timer’s name cursived in the luggage tag
feng shui curtains for doorways
handbraided rag rugs
toast with good butter and raspberry jam
and a glass jar full of sharpie markers.
A good sketchpad
dishes made of pottery not glass cause it shards when it breaks.
One pair of corduroy pants for the winter,
a lambswool cashmere sweater with a V-neck to pull over so you can run out and add water to the birdbath,
a bag of sunflower seeds for birds
proper cups with saucers
a simple sewing machine
the collected poems of Walt Whitman, Ted Hughes, and the collected short stories of Flannery O’Connor
the poem “what it takes to be a poet”by Gary Snyder
And let’s not stop “constantly risking absurdity”
insulated stainless steel that keeps your coffee hot for hours if you’ve got a lid on it
and speaking of lids: keep a lid on it
don’t blow your top about petty stuff.
In fact, don’t blow your top at all
always wear a hat: protect your energy
when you cut your hair burn it, or bury it or throw it in the river
clean the bobbin tray of your sewing machine at least once a week
don’t pick up pennies whether heads or tails—leave them for someone else
a good iron that has a steam function
hanging plants
a Crystally ball to hang in the window so there’s rainbow dots all over the walls during different times of day especially when it’s sunny
and if you have any photographs in your collection that when you look at them, they make you feel yucky, sick weird or ill , tear them up burn them or toss them in the dumpster so that your photo collection is nothing but pure joy and you don’t get caught off guard and surprised by something your mind wouldn’t let you remember
tables with leaves
a purple tablecloth with a lace topping
a green tablecloth with a lace topping
good tablespoons that aren’t sharp around the edges
Chinese poetry collections—preferably ones that you borrowed without returning 30 years ago from the military library.
make your own poetry Chapbooks with staples and then cover the spine with duct tape so nobody gets prickled or cut by the staple
Always keep fabric on hand.
You never know when you’re gonna want to make a Barbie sleeping bag or a drawstring bag or put a new trim on a skirt
hang up all of your diplomas
and if you don’t have any diplomas frame your most important moments that make up what your life path has been
pictures of all the people you have loved and maybe still do
a mason jar full of old Christmas ornaments
several spare pairs of glasses, even ones you can’t see out of anymore
hopefully a gas stove with a glass door that’s clear and you can see what’s baking inside.
The scones need to be looked at: you wanna watch the blueberries, pop, and the chocolate melt
Always have heavy whipping cream on hand for your coffee and honey from a wild hive.
These are the things that make a life.
These are the things that make a life
these are the things that make a life.
Oh yeah and don’t forget to brush your teeth, but throw away the store-bought toothpaste use coconut oil with rosemary drops or orange drops. Your breath will be fresh and your teeth will shine and don’t forget to floss your teeth after every time you eat
don’t eat Jell-O don’t eat Cool Whip.
Listen to what people have to say use what you can and throw the rest away—the poet Jim Barnes taught me that many many many moons ago
know the names of all the moons without having to consult the farmers almanac
grow zinnias from scratch and plant them in good dirt
right before winter buy containers of worms at the bait and tackle shop and plant them in your garden so come spring you got something to bait yer hook
always keep your head covered when you go in public —hair is a private thing
and finally if you don’t own a red suitcase, get one and then when you listen to Mandy Patinkin‘s version of somewhere over the rainbow, you can really be the little blue bird that flies over the rainbow
and remember it’s always a good idea to jump naked in the cold river come January 1
and then sit by a bonfire and practice your gratitude
and if you have mismatched earrings laying around throw them in the current of the water and let them go
give them to the fishes
offer them to the rocks.
This is what makes a life this is what makes a life this is what makes a Life
And finally
A good sturdy pair of shoes that u wear with Everything

There is an Unaccounted–For GrandDuggar!
Forsyth #3 is #30, But We Only Know About 29.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, so many of you sent this in. Thank you! I am so happy to finally have an updated GrandDuggar count. Thank you, Jim Bob! Thank you, loyal readers!
[ Link to the Video at the Relevant Part (~5:30) ]
Up until Joy's video, we know about 27 GrandDuggars—25 Already Born (Mackynzie to Charlie), and 2 In Utero (Duggar–Wissmann #1 and Forsyth #3). It was also widely–speculated that Siah + Lauren and Joe + Kendra quietly added to their broods this year. Knowing that there's 30 GrandDuggars, and three unaccounted–for, Duggar Data now considers Duggar–Swanson #2 and Duggar–Caldwell #4 to be "confirmed" births. (See This Post for more information.)
Alright, so that brings us to 29 Known GrandDuggars. Here's a full list, in birth order—
(1) Mackynzie Renee Duggar–Keller 2009
(2) Michael James Duggar–Keller 2011
(3) Marcus Anthony Duggar–Keller 2013
(4) Israel David Dillard March 2015
(5) Meredith Grace Duggar–Keller July 2015
(6) Spurgeon Elliot Seewald November 2015
(7) Henry Wilberforce Seewald February 2017
(8) Samuel Scott Dillard July 2017
(9) Mason Garrett Duggar–Keller September 2017
(10) Gideon Martyn Forsyth February 2018
(11) Garrett David Duggar–Caldwell June 2018
(12) Felicity Nicole Vuolo July 2018
(13) Ivy Jane Seewald May 2019
(14) Addison Renee Duggar–Caldwell November 2, 2019
(15) Bella Milagro Duggar–Swanson November 8, 2019
(16) Maryella Hope Duggar–Keller November 27, 2019
(17) Grace Annette Duggar–Burnett January 2020
(18) Evelyn Mae Forsyth August 2020
(19) Evangeline Jo Vuolo November 2020
(20) Brooklyn Praise Duggar–Caldwell February 2021
(21) Fern Elliana Seewald July 2021
(22) Madyson Lily Duggar–Keller October 2021
(23) Duggar–Swanson #2 c. March 2022
(24) Truett Oliver Duggar–Nakatsu May 2, 2022
(25) Duggar–Caldwell #4 c. May 26, 2022
(26) Frederick Michael Dillard July 2022
(27) Charlie Duggar–Burnett September 2022
(28) Duggar–Wissmann #1 Due Before Forsyth #3 (See Note)
(29) Forsyth #3 Due May 23, 2023
Note—We don't know when Hannah is due; however, we can be all–but certain that her Due Date is before Joy's. Joy is due on May 23, 2023, and she announced on October 5, 2022. Hannah announced before Joy, on August 30th. Theoretically, the very earliest one can announce a pregnancy is Day 29. (That's the day the woman would be expecting her period, but it didn't start.) It's highly unlikely Jer + Hannah announced that early... But, even if they did, Hannah's Due Date would be May 8, 2023, which is earlier than Joy's.
If Forsyth #3 is #30, there's 1 Unaccounted–For GrandDuggar—so, let's go over the possibilities for whose child it is or how this can be explained.
This Post is really long, so... After the jump!
Could Joy Be Expecting Twins?
No. Per Joy's YouTube video, her OB confirmed via ultrasound that her current pregnancy isn't twins. Also, if she was expecting twins, Jim Bob wouldn't have described her baby as #30. He would have said #29 and 30, if he knew it was twins, or just #29, if he didn't.
Could Hannah Be Expecting Twins?
No. Jer + Hannah haven't shared much about their pregnancy, but they've shared enough to know it's not multiples. In the Pregnancy Announcement, Jer referenced a "precious little baby"—not babies. And in the Sex Reveal, Hannah wrote: "We cannot wait to meet our sweet baby girl"—not girls, or a boy and a girl, or whatever.
Could Lauren or Kendra Have Had Twins?
Probably Not, though we can't definitively rule it out. The Car Seat Photo featured one car seat, not two; and the Baby On Lap, Stroller, and Nursing Photos featured one baby, not two. That said, we don't have any evidence that proves they didn't have twins.
Could Some Else Be Pregnant?
Yes. And, if they are, they must be due before Joy—otherwise, her baby wouldn't be #30, theirs would. Joy is due May 23, 2023. So, the Unaccounted–For GrandDuggar is due on or before May 22.
Who is the other pregnant Duggar? Well, let's start by determining who is isn't...
Joy and Hannah's Pregnancies are known, so it's not them.
It's not Anna. Josh is in prison, and has been since December 9, 2021. She had Madyson on October 23. Even if she'd somehow managed to get pregnant between October 23 and December 9, she would've delivered by now.
It's not Abbie. She'll be <40 Weeks Post–Partum in May 2023.
It's almost certainly not Jill, since she would've had to conceive again within 8 Weeks of Freddy's Birth.
Irish Twins are rare, even for Predictor Families, so it's unlikely to be Katey or Kendra, who both gave birth in May 2022.
That just leaves Jessa, Jinger, Lauren, and Claire. Out of that group, Lauren is probably the least likely to be pregnant now, since she just had Baby C in or around March 2022. If she gave birth again in May 2023, that would be a very, very short—unusually short, even among Predictor Families—child spacing, which seems unlikely. (Especially in light of the longer gap between Bella and Baby C.)
Jessa, Jinger, and Claire remain. Of those three, Claire is definitely the likeliest candidate, as she's very overdue (~4 SDs) for Pregnancy #1. Jinger is also currently overdue, but less overdue than Claire (~1 SD)—plus, she seems to have jumped off the quiverfull bandwagon. That just leaves Jessa. If it's her, she's early—but, only by 3 Months. (Seewald #5 is currently forecast for August 2023.)
Whoever it is, they probably aren't that far ahead of Joy. Currently, it's Duggar–typical to announce a pregnancy at ~94 Days Along. If there was an announcement today, that would correspond to a May 6, 2023 Due Date. And if they were due on the latest possible date, May 22nd, they won't be "late" to announce until November 18th.
Could Someone Else Have Secretly Given Birth?
(Note—I'm talking about another "secret birth" on top of the now–known secret births of Baby C and Duggar–Caldwell #4.)
Probably Not. This would imply that the Unaccounted–For Grand has been born as of today, November 1, 2022. Right away, we can rule out a number of Duggars—
It's not Hannah. She hasn't been married long enough to be on Baby #2. (She and Jer tied the knot on March 26, 2022.)
It's not Joy. She said that this is Baby #3. If she'd had a secret birth, she'd be on Baby #4, not #3.
It's not Abbie, Jill, or Katey, since they are all <40 Weeks Post–Partum, and we're sure that their latest baby was their 2nd, 3rd, and 1st, respectively. (No chance they snuck in a secret one.)
It's not Kendra. She had Brooklyn in February of 2021 and she's believed to have given birth again in Late May 2022. There's no way that she's given birth again since May, 5 Months Ago. And, likewise, there's no way that she squeezed another pregnancy in between Brooklyn and the May 2022 Baby. There simply aren't enough days. It's not possible.
It's probably not Anna. While it's not impossible, it's a really tight timeline... Like, really tight. She would have had to get pregnant within <7 Weeks of Madyson's Birth, which is completely at odds with her typical spacing. If it did happen, M8 probably arrived in August, maybe Early September.
It's probably not Jessa. She is still active on social media, so it's pretty unlikely that she wouldn't have announced a pregnancy.
That leaves Lauren, Jinger, and Claire. Out of the group, Jinger is probably the least likely suspect. While she doesn't share her girls' faces on social media anymore, she just shared a Halloween photo that shows two toddlers with no infant in sight. As for Lauren, it is possible she's had 2 Children since Bella; however, it would require two really close spacings, since that's 2 Children in 28 Months. As for Claire, it's definitely possible she's had a baby by now. (She got married in February of 2021.) But, is she the type to not announce anything? I'm not so sure about that.
Could Jim Bob's Count Include Annabell?
Probably Not. Jim Bob + Michelle lost their 20th Child, Jubilee, at ~20 Weeks, but don't include her in counting their own 19 Children. Annabell was also an ~20 Week Loss. It doesn't make much sense that they'd count Annabell and not Jubilee, but we also can't rule it out. It's possible, but unlikely, that that's what's going on.
TL;DR—
Ultimately, the most likely answer is that there's another Duggar on the way, due shortly before Forsyth #3, and it’s Claire’s, Jinger’s, or Jessa’s. However, we can't rule out the possibility of Lauren or Kendra having twins, or of Anna, Jessa, Lauren, Jinger, or Claire having a "secret birth," or of J.B. including Annabell in the list of GrandDuggars. Also, maybe Jim Bob just can’t count… But, probably not. He seemed sure.

Road Trip — VoicePlay music video
youtube
The life of touring musicians can be stressful. Like anyone else in the midst of a long drive in a cramped vehicle, they can get on each other's nerves and argue over what music to play. With this dramatic comedic reenactment, VoicePlay gives their audience a peek inside the tour van. After years of performing this medley / theatrical sketch, they finally got a chance to record a professional video in a live setting during the 2014 Sing-Off tour.
Details:
title: Road Trip
original songs / performers: [1:30] "Tiptoe Through the Tulips" by Tiny Tim; [1:50] "Orinoco Flow" by Enya; [2:05] "Cum On Feel the Noize" by Quiet Riot; [3:12] "Big Shot" by Billy Joel; [3:24] "I Wanna Rock" by Twisted Sister; [3:33] "Voices Carry" by ’Til Tuesday; [3:50] "Shout" by Tears For Fears; [4:06] "Why Can't We Be Friends?" by War; [4:15] "That Smell" by Lynyrd Skynyrd; [5:10] "Hard to Say I'm Sorry" by Chicago; [6:34] "We Just Disagree" by Dave Mason; [6:54] "Royals" by Lorde
written by: "Tiptoe Through the Tulips" by Al Dubin & Joe Burke; "Orinoco Flow" by Eithne "Enya" Pádraigín Ní Bhraonáin & Roma Ryan; "Cum On Feel the Noize" by Noddy Holder & Jim Lea; "Big Shot" by Billy Joel; "I Wanna Rock" by Dee Snider; "Voices Carry" by Robert Holmes, Aimee Mann, Michael Hausman, & Joey Pesce; "Shout" by Roland Orzabal & Ian Stanley; "Why Can't We Be Friends?" by Papa Dee Allen, Harold Ray Brown, B.B. Dickerson, Lonnie Jordan, Charles Miller, Lee Oskar, Howard E. Scott, & Jerry Goldstein; "That Smell" by Allen Collins & Ronnie Van Zant; "Hard to Say I'm Sorry" by Peter Cetera & David Foster; "Royals" by Ella "Lorde" Yelich-O'Connor & Joel Little
arranged by: Geoff Castellucci
release date: 22 May 2014
My favorite bits:
Layne's deliberately-obnoxious-sibling energy when he re-locks the door the second time.
five grown men making vroom-vroom noises and other sound effects as part of their job
Tony singing ♫ "Why? Why? Why?" ♫ in annoyance instead of ♫ "wild, wild, wild" ♫, and his smug smile at cutting off Eli's accompaniment
Eli excitedly throwing the horns only to be met with Tony's completely unenthusiastic "rawk". 😒
Geoff's growl note as Eli's "shout"ing wakes him up
Eli watch the rooOAAAD!!!
professional singers using their talents to set up and deliver an elaborate fart joke (I am completely serious. It's magnificent.)
Earl's adorable muppet snoring 💤 , and his bashful expression as he apologizes
Tony wiping the pretend aerosol spray off his face (whatever it may be… air freshener? hairspray? breath freshener? floor wax? dessert topping?)
the pitch pipe / seat belt alarm gag — such a clever way to reset after the evacuation interlude
and, of course, Layne's incredible solo
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Trivia:
Layne sometimes changes the song he busts out at the end in an attempt to make the other guys laugh and break character. I've found audience recordings where he goes with "Baby" by Justin Bieber, "Hello" by Adele, and "Let It Go" from Frozen.
VoicePlay have been performing and refining this medley / skit since their 4:2:Five days. The earliest full version I've found is from 2010, with Ryan and Danny in the front seats, but an even earlier clip appeared in their 2009 promo video.
Tumblr media
They did make an in-studio version with a real car in 2013. It's currently only available through their Patreon.

All of this Stan Vogel stuff is making me think about camping. What do you think all the Cody boys would be like if their s/o forced them to go on a camping trip?
this was a lot of fun to do!
-
it's not news that michael langdon spent a few days in the woods prior to stumbling across the satanic temple and he's made it very clear that he would rather not go through any of that again. but the apocalypse was soon to come, and the world, as everyone knew it, would cease to exist. no more beautiful sunny days or lush green meadows full of flowers native to the area - all of which you loved dearly. so michael didn't put up a fight when you asked him to spend one last weekend out in nature, despite hating the idea with every fiber of his being. instead, he simply enjoyed the next few days with you at your favorite spot by the lake, deciding if ending the world was something he absolutely wanted to go through with.
as for duncan shepherd, he is completely revolted by the idea of camping. when you had mentioned you wanted to go on vacation, he figured it was to bora bora or maybe even paris, not a campsite in west virginia. several days out of D.C., in the middle of nowhere, with no cellphone reception, and no wifi is not his idea of a fun time and he makes it his mission to get you to change your mind. you don't, of course, and can't help but giggle at his pouty faces and complaints about how bugs shouldn't even exist.
jim mason, on the other hand, is all for a weekend of camping. before his family moved to palos verdes, camping trips were a regular occurrence for him - when things were a lot simpler. he sees this as an opportunity to show you who he really is, down to his roots. he takes care of packing the basic camping essentials and setting up the tent once at the campground. the next few days are filled with him teaching you how to fish and you showing him which constellations are which come nighttime.
we all know our boy stan vogel would never object to camping, however, he is completely shocked when the idea slips from your mouth. after all, he is always the one doing the initiating while you whine and groan about how he needs to get a new hobby. he goes above and beyond to make sure every single thing (whether needed or not) is packed because, "you never know, babe. stranger things have happened in these woods. not that i can tell you what, exactly, it's all confidential."
the first time you asked xavier plympton to go camping, he laughed in your face. "me? camping? babe, the outdoors and this hair do not get along," he says, pointing to his perfectly styled locks. after a few bats of your lashes and, "please, xav?" in that voice he finds so adorable, he eventually gives in. once he's out there, he finds himself enjoying the peace and quiet compared to the hustle and bustle of L.A.
the stars and planets have to align in order for andy dolan to agree to a camping trip. every day with him is spent walking on egg shells, not wanting to upset him with the mere mention of doing anything other than staying home and doing blow all day long. you want to get out and enjoy some time away, thinking it’ll do the both of you some good. much to your surprise, he agrees, without much effort needed on your part. he’s actually excited to get out of eden for a few days and away from the watchful eyes of the paparazzi.

Medgar Wiley Evers (July 2, 1925 – June 12, 1963) was an American civil rights activist in Mississippi, the state's field secretary for the NAACP, and a World War II veteran who had served in the United States Army. He worked to overturn segregation at the University of Mississippi, end the segregation of public facilities, and expand opportunities for African Americans, which included the enforcement of voting rights. A college graduate, Evers became active in the Civil Rights Movement in the 1950s. Following the 1954 ruling of the United States Supreme Court in Brown v. Board of Education that segregated public schools were unconstitutional, Evers challenged the segregation of the state-supported public University of Mississippi, applying to law school there. He also worked for voting rights, economic opportunity, access to public facilities, and other changes in the segregated society. Evers was awarded the 1963 NAACP Spingarn Medal.
Assassination
The rifle used by De La Beckwith to murder Evers
Medgar Evers lived with the constant threat of death. A large white supremacist population and the Ku Klux Klan were present in Jackson and its suburbs. The risk was so high that before his death, Evers and his wife Myrlie had trained their children on what to do in case of a shooting, bombing or other kind of attack on their lives. Evers, who was regularly followed home by at least two FBI cars and one police car, arrived at his home on the morning of his death without an escort. None of his usual protection was present, for reasons unspecified by the FBI or local police. There has been speculation that many members of the police force at the time were members of the Klan.
In the early morning of Wednesday, June 12, 1963, just hours after President John F. Kennedy's nationally televised Civil Rights Address, Evers pulled into his driveway after returning from a meeting with NAACP lawyers. Evers' family had worried for his safety that day, and Evers himself had warned his wife that he felt in greater danger than usual.
Emerging from his car and carrying NAACP T-shirts that read "Jim Crow Must Go", Evers was struck in the back with a bullet fired from an Enfield 1917 rifle; the bullet passed through his heart. Initially thrown to the ground by the impact of the shot, Evers rose and staggered 30 feet (10 meters) before collapsing outside his front door. His wife, Myrlie, was the first to find him. He was taken to the local hospital in Jackson, where he was initially refused entry because of his race. His family explained who he was and he was admitted; he died in the hospital 50 minutes later. He was only 37 years old. Evers was the first African American to be admitted to an all-white hospital in Mississippi. Mourned nationally, Evers was buried on June 19 in Arlington National Cemetery, where he received full military honors before a crowd of more than 3,000.
After Evers was assassinated, an estimated 5,000 people marched from the Masonic Temple on Lynch Street to the Collins Funeral Home on North Farish Street in Jackson. Allen Johnson, the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and other civil rights leaders led the procession. The Mississippi police came prepared with riot gear and rifles in case the protests turned violent. While tensions were initially high in the stand-off between police and marchers, both in Jackson and in many similar marches around the state, leaders of the movement maintained nonviolence among their followers
