Here's a fake cheetah (Miracinonyx) to celebrate uvu

Despite their common name (American cheetah) and their lithe build, Miracinonyx is actually believed to be closer related to the modern Puma! I based his spots more off a baby puma bc of this.

They are called Swift Spots by the Fleet Fangs and always have 'nonsense' names that sound squeaky; which is how I imagine their voices sound to all the other large felids cx

Also he and his brother are highly unimportant but i wanted to draw one of them anyway, so enjoy uvu

I know the bg is Lilac's silouhette but imagine it's "generic average homotherium" bc Lilac is actually very tall and would be a bit bigger compared to Seequa

Also i really like that here we have A sprinter: short snout for rapid breathing, long, flexible spine for max stride, long thin legs, long tail for ruddering And a marathoner: huge, blown-out muzzle for constant air cooling, short stiff spine for trotting, long legs for striding but not as thin, nub tail bc that's just how sabercats be

naur seriously can we talk about how allura was even like 'the lions were made to be piloted by you and you alone'referring to the fact they are the only five people in the entire multiverse to have pure quintessence corresponding to the colors oftheir lions....

if one paladin is MIA then that lion should be inactive, benched. you dont simply play musical chairs with the lions. if it waa that easy then ANYONE could be the paladins at ANY time and theres no reason for the human paladins to be there at all especially if they dont want to be. but no the human paladins are NEEDED or else keith and allura would have no problem with pidge leaving in the first two episodes. nor would they mind if lance went home. but they DO mind. they PREVENT pidge from leaving and they make lance believe going back to earth isnt an option at all--that it isnt even on their iternary.

So no. i refuse to acknowledge the lion switching as canon.

before that final damning act of courage and mercy, medraut had spent a day and most of a night limping on a broken knee through the frozen, bloody fields around camlan, searching for lleu. It was not three months since lleu had kissed and forgiven him his last winter’s betrayal. medraut would have given his own life to spare our brother’s. all he found of my twin after camlan was the golden circlet lleu had worn.

I feel like the problem is that people like this can sometimes have blind spots that lead to hurt. Like a woman I worked with who was all in on helping sex trafficking victims with shelter and going to court and being on the suicide hotline but she also let her discriminatory beliefs and need for something to finally change lead her to q anon. You’d think being in the thick of what’s actually happening to sex trafficking victims would inoculate a person to it but beliefs around race and a person having motivated reasoning based on desire for things to be simple and ‘winnable’ can do that.

But that’s probably not the majority of middle to older age women that lead to younger people feeling like this group is holding things back. I feel like the reason is simply humans are inherently life long bad at internalizing statistical thinking. We see that close to 70% of white men and more than 60% of white women vote for the racism anti lgbtq patriarchy and other assorted evils party and we who don’t vote that way think “man, white people are all terrible.” But the reality is that while a majority of a group are doing this thing, there’s still a sizeable minority that ain’t. You can say “white boomers are responsible for the power of the modern Republican Party” and miss that while true it’s also true a lot of activists and people who helped safeguard shit fit within the group of white boomers. We should call a spade a spade but also try to remember that a spade ain’t always a hand shovel, it can also be a playing card.

Basically I think the view is a combination of the sort of thing in my first paragraph and how we can often oversimplify in our head when not paying attention to our own train of thought

it's interesting how in the popular imagination, middle-aged and older women are often considered entitled, annoying bitches whose feminism is outdated and manners nonexistent. these women are supposedly holding back progress and just being insufferable nags and hags in general. meanwhile, many NGOs—from animal shelters to soup kitchens, from rape crisis centres to rescue dog associations, from suicide hotlines to crime victim support services—actually rely on the unpaid labour of middle-aged and older women, who are very much overrepresented among their volunteers. often, these organisations are desperate to attract more men and young people, and some even have specific programmes to reach out to potential volunteers from those demographics! in the meantime, though: need someone to wash the remnants of an oil spill off a bird's plumage? accompany a victim of human trafficking to a hearing? sort through a pile of donations to refugees? time to call those middle-aged and older women to do their unpaid and underappreciated work.
