Previous refs
Bat is actually 9 moons and has grown a fair bit as of Moon 10. But alas, that's the problem with doing refs for characters in a story where they change c':
Read this ask if you want to know more about his missing leg
His and Snake's refs were made/posted in October, but mostly hold up
Steppe and Summit have some bonus notes from when i originally posted them here (also in october)
Seequa, is a Miracinonyx and is not really important but I made him a little ref bc it was world cheetah day cx
And finally! Old man Elmfade! His ref is crowded but i wanted everyone on the same page so i could upload it like this :'D
I used Mauricio Anton's 3D homotherium skull for Fade's headshot, but i sooooo wish I could find the actual model and not that single still of it. Having a decent 3D Homotherium skull to turnaround would be so gooood ;A;

The Seequa and the Homebrew, Two Z80 Computers
Rits's homebrew computer, known as the BittyZ80 is capable of generating video with a TMS9918. That's @regretsretrotech debugging the Seequa Chameleon on the right.

Happy world cheetah day!
Tumblr media
Here's a fake cheetah (Miracinonyx) to celebrate uvu
Despite their common name (American cheetah) and their lithe build, Miracinonyx is actually believed to be closer related to the modern Puma! I based his spots more off a baby puma bc of this.
They are called Swift Spots by the Fleet Fangs and always have 'nonsense' names that sound squeaky; which is how I imagine their voices sound to all the other large felids cx
Tumblr media
Also he and his brother are highly unimportant but i wanted to draw one of them anyway, so enjoy uvu
I know the bg is Lilac's silouhette but imagine it's "generic average homotherium" bc Lilac is actually very tall and would be a bit bigger compared to Seequa
Also i really like that here we have A sprinter: short snout for rapid breathing, long, flexible spine for max stride, long thin legs, long tail for ruddering And a marathoner: huge, blown-out muzzle for constant air cooling, short stiff spine for trotting, long legs for striding but not as thin, nub tail bc that's just how sabercats be
paleo details that make me happy uvu

Pleistocene big cat size chart for Kindred of the Mammoth!
Tumblr media
Mostly threw this together for fun after I finished the species sheet uvu
The Fleet Fangs are outmatched by most of their contemporaries in strength, but have stamina for days. The Ice Fangs and Tuft Tails are much more reliant on the initial ambush.
(Also anyone here could pick up Seequa and throw him)
Not depicted:
Quiet Climbers- Cougar. The closest relative of the Swift Spots and still a decent sized animal. However, they're indistinguishable from the modern cougar and only come up to the lionesses elbow. So they were cut for 'small and familiar' reasons c'x
Soft Paws- lynx. Likely very similar to the modern Canadian lynx. Bigger than you might expect, but too small to be a big cat in the same vein as the sabercats.
Spot Stalkers- Pleistocene jaguar. While present in the time and landmass, they likely were not as far north as Kindred's setting, (and steppe isn't their preferred biome regardless). So they won't show up in this comic (phew, that's too many spots).
