psa again because i saw someone being wrong on the internet again. kon was originally not created in any way shape or form by lex luthor!!! this was a retcon. his original form was a fully human clone of some random dude (specifically a cadmus scientist) named paul westfield, who was then genetically engineered and modified to be as similar to superman as possible, using the ttk metagene to emulate superman's powers; later iterations simplified him into an actual clone of superman, fully kryptonian with a small amount of stabilizing human dna, still with the ttk metagene.

then geoff johns came along and went "hey! what if i throw out all of this and also all of his existing characterization to turn him into my own superboy oc who's half luthor?". this is unfortunately the most famous iteration of kon because geoff keeps shoving his version everywhere, but it is Not the original. it is not inaccurate for people to call kon a clone of clark; this is canon in [later] superboy 1994.

everytime it's that week right before my period starts I get this really INTENSE baby fever.

Let's give Alfred The Cat a stray kitten he found off the street to raise. No let's give Alfred The Cat a whole litter. Let's get Superman pregnant. Jason and Roy raising little Lian together. Lex being a good dad to baby Lena. Dick and Kori raising babies together. Babies accidentally acquired through travel to alternate dimensions. Baby Kon and his dads. See that was the thing that always confused me about kon. I hear "he's a clone of Superman and lex Luthor" and I'm like??? How can you be a clone of two people?? I was always under the impression that it was 50/50 and they just call him a clone so that ppl don't think he's lex and Clark's love child. Your explanation makes so much more sense the whole time I was like "we'll if he's a clone then so am I (I was conceived using ivf")

HAHA yeah no its that geoff doesnt know what the word clone means. when kon was originally created he was actually a fully human clone of some random dude named paul westfield, who was heavily genetically edited to be as much like superman as possible + given a metagene (ttk) to emulate superman's powers. later iterations of him in his solo simplified this into him being just a clone of superman with a bit of human dna in there as a ~stabilizing agent~ of sorts. then geoff came along like hold my beer im about to make everything so much more stupid. and the rest is history
