Okay, here's a fun one. Zuko tells Jin that he's a firebender with Jin just going, "Pfffft. I know that!" Zuko is confused, but Jin just points out that it's the only explanation as to how the lanterns was lit 😂

So... Is Zuko Disney Princess coded? Let's see.

He's canonically part of a royal family, so the title is there, no marriage needed.

He has superpowers (firebending) and a particular ability his really good at (swordfighting), you know like Elsa with ice and Mérida with archery.

Another thing he has in common with Mérida is the fact he doesn't agree with his father about stuff and he doesn't know how to shut up about it (:

He got the evil parent AND the evil sister (at least Cinderella was adopted)

He talks to animals (yk the frog thing), animals trust him too (Appa), and he got a magical pet (Ruk).

He had an incredible glow up.

Let's say that Iroh is his fairy godmother, gives him good advice, helps him prepare for his dates and always reminds him that he is a prince even at his lowest.

He is fighting for his honor (I mean, if you told the guy he would get back his honor going to the matchmaker, he would've been first in line, doing way better than Mulan with the tea thing)

He would cry looking at his reflection while this verse sounds in the background "If I wear a mask, I can fool the world, but I cannot fool my heart".

Being Lee for a month show him that he was meant to fulfil his role as a part of the royal family (customer service/domestic work does that to people)

He got a love interest that fell for him with zero knowledge about who he was: his title or his past or real identity, so if you want to eat up the classic Disney princess romance. There you go.

He goes through the tantrums, emotional rollercoasters and "the world hates me" moments like a pro.

The change of heart moment happens to him as it happens to most disney princess, and it defines his destiny. So point checked.

He went into a life changing adventure with the first cute and friendly guy that stood in front of him (I'm not even explaining more about this).

He gets the throne at the end of the show (in this point we only got Elsa, and I'm sure Zuko also considered moving to the forest after being Fire Lord for a year, but his sister wasn't as reliable as Anna).

His canon love interest is a childhood love that ended up saving his life and that's so princess coded that there's no need to give an example, it just makes sense.

I think there are things I'm not addressing, but for now this is enough to conclude that... yeah, he is sooo princess coded.

my biggest issue with zutara shippers is how anti kataang they are. like bro please i love these characters more than some people irl too but at the end of the day they are all fictional. and i say this bc seldom do i see kataang posts with "anti zutara" tag but very very often i see zutara posts with "anti kataang" tag like what?!? makes me go like this:

like even though i ship kataang more, i still looove seeing zutara art too, and fics, mostly bc artists are amazing and i love to appreciate their works! but please guys you dont need to hate on one character to love another one (looking at all you *toxic* zuko stans hating on aang for no good reason -_-)

like please multishipping is fine, you can love more than one thing, person, character, ship, whateverrrr. like bro i love shipping zuko with jin, and sokka lol. like let's not hate on a flawless show with brilliant fucking characters just bc you wanna love someone or something "more" smh

Even tho I don't ship Zutara anymore, but I found it worth noting how Zuko is characterised more fairly in these specific shots of him with Katara than 99% of the scenes of him with Mai (*bruh even Mai was ooc but this is going to be for another discussion)

I already have many issues with book 3 especially in terms of characterisation, but Oh God, Zuko had the most awful ooc moments with Mai (*the beach episode sums it up), like I cringe whenever I see them together on screen💀

He's not even being Zuko with Mai, He's just a different person named "Zuko" (*the same applies to Mai), and it's really insulting not only for Zuko and Mai but for the fans as well

But let's be all honest, Zuko had such a spot-on characterisation in his scenes with Jin! (*not to mention the cute chemistry) He was really being himself in the Tale of Zuko

Honestly the only thing they need to do to fix the live action atla show is to have Zuko end up with Jin. That would cancel out every flaw.

This on-and-off game between Maiko doesn’t do both characters any justice. If the new A:TLA comic were about how Zuko and Jin run into each other in Ba Sing Se—instead of the new Maiko one���with a premise hinting at a Jinko endgame, I would directly buy that thing as soon as it’s available for pre-order. They both really deserve a chance, as they had a load of chemistry in the few minutes they shared together on-screen. That’s of course while hoping they all stay in character, and it won’t be another one of Bryke’s so beloved relationship dramas.

Got another fun Jinko prompt for you. Zuko 6 to tell a joke to Jin, which Jin just laughs at. Not because the joke is funny but because Zuko is trying so hard to be funny that she finds it cute 😂

No doubt this has been said before, but Zuko shouldn't have ended up with Mai or Katara

With Mai he just seemed to lean into his edgy sad boy-ness too much. It felt forced and like she was influencing him rather than "Mai is the only person who understands" which the writers might have been going for. Her "I love Zuko more than I fear you" was the only thing that made me not completely hate their relationship.

They should've been "best friends who everything thinks are dating" and then they're just like "Ew no, this is just my trauma friend".

Katara with Zuko felt like a slightly better Katara and Jet. Katara is just doing the middle/high school thing where she's like "oh my god, a chill edgy guy, he's so deep and I definitely won't feel emotionally neglected after awhile" (Not that I think Zuko would be neglectful, but Katara definitely wasn't into the awkward sweetheart side of Zuko).

Y'all probably know what I'm going to say next.

He should've ended up with Jin

She loved awkward serious guy Zuko who has funny banter with his uncle that doesn't know how to make tea

And having a non bender girl from the Earth Nation become queen/empress of the Fire Nation would've meant so much for the sake of peace between nations and the Fire Nation royal family becoming a whole lot less toxic

I would kill for a scene where Zuko talks to Mei or Sokka about his date with her, and they go "Bud, she was trying to kiss you"

Then Zuko us like "Oh. Ohh..." And then when he goes back for her, he does an awkward little rant about how sorry he was for leaving and then she kisses him on the cheek because she wouldn't dare kiss him on the lips without him leaning in too. They kiss, and afterwards Zuko is like "Here's an invitation to my coronation." There's a moment of silence as Jin realizes that Zuko isn't just any firebender... And she just smiles and says she'll be there.
