A Happy Future

Before the Encanto brainrot took over me, there was Zootopia. I didn't quite engage with that fandom because I had a serious creativity slump at the time, drawing only during Inktober from 2017 to 2020 and writing sporadically since 2009. But Zootopia and its lovely fandom had my heart. The movie itself had a powerful message about prejudice and racism, and its two charming leads sparked imaginations the world over. While the movie only vaguely implied that there might be a romance brewing between Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps, at least half of the fandom ran with the idea of them becoming a couple, fondly nicknamed WildeHopps. I have made very few artworks and fic contributions to this idea. I was honestly heartbroken when the entire fandom migrated primarily to Twitter following Tumblr's porn purge of 2018. There is A LOT of Rule 34 content with Zootopia and WildeHopps, with the fandom being mostly adults. But Twitter is not a healthy space, so I deactivated my Twitter account, and most of the content that I enjoyed was gradually pulled from Tumblr. I am so happy that Encanto came out, and I experienced the fandom engagement that I didn't quite get with Zootopia.

I love Zootopia and its fan content so much that it only felt natural that for this week's @wdtajn theme, the crossover would be with Zootopia. In this piece, I imagine Bruno as a rex rat with distinctive curly fur presenting Nick and Judy with a good vision just outside of Little Rodentia.

I guess me drawing collages of Disney animals based on whatever the current year's Chinese zodiac happens to be is gonna be an annual thing now lol (at least until I get every zodiac drawn).

2025 is the Year of the Snake so I have Jafar (Aladdin), Sir Hiss (Robin Hood), Kaa (The Jungle Book), Juju (The Princess and the Frog), Madam Mim (The Sword in the Stone) and Gary (Zootopia 2).
