Banishing the thought that everyone is secretly disgusted by me physically and curing my touch starvation may require me directly asking my friends to hug me and hold my hand and I am NOT happy about it

not that i believe chappell roan is the spokesperson for palestine or leftist politics around voting/election year, but using her recent words being twisted in bad faith is prolly the best example i have about liberals' cognitive dissonance about genocide and their inability to not take other people's (specifically so called celebrities') decisions/thoughts personally.
anyway. really didn't enjoy d'angelo wallace's recent video about her but this one really ties up all the loose ends he refused to acknowledge (explicitly his refusal to talk openly about palestine and why Chappell is actually pro palestine)
youtube
but anyway, Dr. Devon Price has also spoken about this phenomenon on his substack/instagram and I recommend checking his page out. some of y'all project your morals onto people you absolutely don't know and have no right to know as intimately as you think you should, and it's fucking weird. the cognitive dissonance lies in the reality of our power: there is no power for us in democracy. if there was, perhaps world leader's would have stopped the genocide in Palestine considering an overwhelming majority of the world's citizens are against so called Israel committing it. But the truth is, we have very little power democratically, and I don't want any liberal to convince me otherwise. Do we have power in other ways? Yes, we so fucking do. But liberals keep trying to convince us our power ONLY lies in voting, and I refuse to conform my reality to that.
chappell roan was right, and some of you care too much about whether or not people will cast their vote in a month. Maybe listen to the people that chappell clearly listened to (marginalized, BIPOC, Palestinian, Arab, Jewish, etc) and you'll understand WHY people are so conflicted about voting instead of shaming them into voting.

by Ben Cohen Other cabinet ministers echoed the president. “What happened has a name: antisemitism,” Equality Minister Aurora Berge declared in a post on X/Twitter, while Higher Education Minister Sylvie Retailleau asserted that at French universities, “[I]t is intolerable and shocking to suffer the slightest discrimination, the slightest incitement to hatred.” Valérie Pécresse, the president of the Paris region, also voiced her disgust, saying that “the Palestinian cause deserves better than these antisemitic barbs worthy of the worst hours of the history of France.” The Union of Jewish Students in France (UEJF), whose members were confronted at the protest, said separately that “UEJF students are attacked as Jews and Zionists. We call for the immediate lifting of the blockade and exemplary sanctions against these students.” The management of Sciences Po meanwhile issued an official condemnation of the protest, pledging disciplinary action against “these intolerable acts.” An open letter published in the news outlet Le Figaro provided a platform to students opposed to the protest to express their anguish at “the painful phrase ‘Don’t let her in, she’s a Zionist.'” The letter stated: “Nothing in these words deserves its place in our school. No place in our democracy should accept them. These words are proof of absolute bankruptcy. The very meaning of our institution and our commitment as students has been chipped and in this space that has opened since [the Hamas pogrom of] Oct. 7 we do not want to let any monsters pass. These words go against who we are.”
There is alway condemnation, but there are never consequences.

I can kinda get some of the backlash about the article, because the author basically that queer people have to come out for the sake of the community and that outing is no big deal, but that's definitely not why people are mad
Yeah look I won’t go into it too much here, I definitely overall liked the article and thought the prose itself was gorgeous, but I definitely disagree with some of the points (I agree with the we need our heroes sentiment but I think it’s too nuanced to be spoken about in a fandom space tbh) I don’t think they were saying outing is no big deal necessarily? It was entirely museless and more focused on queer flagging in lyrics and clothes which is 100% fair game imo, and the cnn response arguing that doesn’t happen to men was frankly hilarious like be so serious rn we are literally on the internet.
But anyway yeah some of the reactions frankly got scary, I love so many of the friends of dorothea creators I’ve found and I’ve genuinely learned SO much about queer history from them but it’s the kind of community I think needs to stay out of the mainstream to actually be enjoyable and safe.
(Again though all the shitshow gave us that Misha Collins tweet aka the funniest possible outcome for me specifically so maybe it was all worth it who’s to say)

last I heard, they'd found the bodies of 10,000 indigenous children in Canada I do not know the American count but some residential schools did start looking for bodies and found them. I would assume every single residential school has killed children as their entire function was to kill indigenous cultures.
Indigenous peoples in so-called Canada and the US are still being disappeared, murdered, forcibly assimilated, and confined in poverty because the genocide has not ended and will not end until the United States & Canada ends and the land is returned to its indigenous owners. This is true of every single settler colonial nation. They must all end.
Hey remember when they found over 200 bodies of native children buried behind a residential school and the world cared for... what, a week?
They've counted about 6,000-7,000 now, for those of you who do still care

"Being French (with cellbrains) in June 2024" A moodboard
[The majority of votes for the EU election were far-right. In response, the French president dissolved the National Assembly, so French have to vote for representatives in the end of the month. The prime minister must be from the party who has the majority at the National Assembly. With how things are right now, we are going to get a prime minister from the far-right, and from a party created by Nazis and SS. This is catastrophic for France, the EU and the world at large, because of the politic power France has, like it's permanent position at the ONU.]
