Zero Motorcycles announces even more accessible 2024 model line-up

Zero Motorcycles has today unveiled its most accessible range of all-electric motorcycles yet, with an exciting line up containing four new models which have been designed to offer something for riders of all ages and licence categories. New for learners and A1 licence holders, the 2024 Zero S and DS utilise Zero’s award-winning Fixed Steel Trellis (FST) platform, offering a pair of more accessible models for riders as young as 17-years-old, while the range topping DSR/X Black Forest is the most highly specified Zero to date. These three models are joined by a new FST based DSR for A2 licence holders, while the SR is also retuned for A2 licence holders. Both can be upgraded to unlock more power when the rider’s licence permits. New colours give a fresh look to the carryover FX, FXE, SR/F, SR/S and DSR/X. All models are more competitively priced, with Zero taking advantage of new production facilities to offer lower RRPs than 12 months ago. All 2024 models are available from official Zero Motorcycles dealerships imminently.

2024 Zero S Built on Zero’s award-winning FST platform, the 2024 Zero S brings all the style of the SR/F streetfighter to the A1 licence category. Highly specified with fully adjustable Showa suspension, Pirelli Diablo Rosso III tyres and Zero’s latest Cypher III+ operating system, the 2024 Zero S is powered by a large 14.4kWh battery, giving a range of over 150 miles as standard, with a number of upgrades to the battery and charging capacity available. Delivering 11kw of continuous power, as per A1 licence regulations, the Zero S can be ridden without the need to take a full motorcycle test. A generous 132Nm of torque, combined with twist and go transmission, makes the Zero S both fun and easy to ride, while an 86mph top speed ensures it is more than capable of keeping up with traffic on the open road. Priced at £15,300 (plus on the road charges) the Zero S comes in a new White-Silver colourway.

2024 Zero DS Bringing the effortless adventure sports experience pioneered by the DSR/X to a wider audience, the 2024 Zero DS offers CBT and A1 category licence holders a premium entry into the world of full-sized electric motorcycling. As with all Zero motorcycles, the DS features high quality chassis components, such as fully adjustable suspension from Showa, Pirelli Scorpion STR tyres and an ABS braking system developed by Bosch. Zero’s Z-Force 75-10 permanent magnet AC motor has been tuned to meet the 11kw continuous power output but, with a hefty 132Nm of torque and peak output of 60bhp, the Zero DS enjoys elevated levels of performance beyond that expected from a learner legal motorcycle. With a 14.4kWh battery pack and up to 144 miles of range, the Zero DS opens up electrified adventure riding to a whole new generation of riders. The 2024 Zero DS comes in a Quicksilver livery and will be priced £16,200 (plus OTR charges).

2024 Zero DSR With added performance and a larger capacity, 15.6kWh, battery the 2024 Zero DSR offers even more capability for A2 licence holders. Built on the same ‘FST’ platform as the range topping DSR/X, the DSR boasts over 150 miles of range and a 93mph top speed, making it an ideal companion for A2 licence holders looking to experience adventure touring, Zero style. Featuring a high chassis specification utilising Zero’s coaxial power pivot technology, the DSR is powered by the much-feted Z-Force 75-10 motor, delivering 70bhp peak power and a massive 170Nm of torque. One of the unique features of the 2024 Zero DSR (and the SR roadster) is its ability to be upgraded to meet the rider’s licence eligibility and personal tastes. Official Zero Motorcycles dealerships are able to retrospectively offer a power upgrade for full ‘A’ licence holders, matching the specifications of the DSR/X, while the battery capacity can also be increased to 17.3kWh. The innovative Cypher III+ operating system also allows owners to add upgrades their motorcycles to meet their specific requirements, while the optional 6kw Rapid Charger can see the DSR recharge from fully empty to 95% in around 85 minutes. The 2024 Zero DSR comes in a new Silver livery and will cost £17,000 when it goes on sale this month.

2024 Zero DSR/X Black Forest Taking the DSR/X to a new level, the DSR/X Black Forest is a limited edition model developed for the most serious of motorcycle adventurers. Built on the critically acclaimed DSR/X platform, every Black Forest leaves the factory fully equipped for the most challenging adventurers. Presented in a lustrous gloss black finish unique to the Black Forest, this limited edition model rolls straight out of the factory fully loaded with premium parts and special graphics to mark this out as the most luxurious Zero motorcycle to date. Being based on the award-winning DSR/X, the Black Forest edition delivers the same unparalleled riding experience, producing the unmatched levels of power, control and rider connection only a Zero can deliver. Zerodent — Human Races (Geneva Lake/Pinkhouse)

When you hear the term “pandemic” album, you might automatically flash on a sad, lonely kind of experience, something solitary and acoustic and, after all’s said and done, better than nothing, but maybe not by much.  You don’t think about furious, full-band onslaughts like Zerodent’s Human Races, but hey, punk bands went through the ringer, too.  These Perth-based pogo-bangers were just off a European tour when the world shut down. For months they were unable to tour, play out or even get together to jam. 

Zerodent has been a Dusted favorite since mid-2017, when a chance purchase on Bandcamp prompted me to write, “The temptation is to compare them to blunt and basic outfits like Eddy Current Suppression Ring, [but] the punch and hook of these three cuts links them back to angry, funny, tuneful British punk like the Buzzcocks and Half Man Half Biscuit.”  That all still applies, but when the lockdown forced the band’s four members to work separately on songs, they diverged from the template in interesting ways. 

Thus while Human Races again offers Class of 78-style bombers like “Panic Bolt”— all mobile, buoyant bass play, a Clash-like clangor of guitars, and blustery chants that edge off into anthemry—it also dips into more pensive moods.  “Perfect Thriller,” for instance, has a morose, contemplative aura.  The vocals are plainly sung, not ranted, and the guitars execute elegant, elegiac gestures, rather than scrubbed and angsty strums.  A caffeinated “Boredom Antidote,” rails and rages like an old punk in the mosh pit, but it’s followed by a more lyrical and weathered “Human Races,” which sighs more than it hollers over the sorry state of things.  The closing “Feeling Alright Again” celebrates getting to the other side of a difficult period with a triumphant chorus but kind of a wistful, introspective verse.  Zerodent has come through the last few years in fine form, but like many of us, they’re not the same as they were before.

Butch

Pounding. The immovable glass wall met his fists with resistance. But he could barely feel it, barely feel the raw scratchiness clawing its way into his throat while he screamed, barely feel the pulsing pain in his hands as he beat them against the near transparent barrier, not while in his hysterics.

"You can't do that! You don't get to do that!"

Denial.

"Come back- Get back here and come back, we weren't finished!" His hands finally yield their barrage against the door as adrenaline trades it place for exhaustion, his body forced to slouch and the cold surface against his sweat drenched forehead as he leans against it will be the closest thing to solace he'll get as he watches you input the code to finish the job.

"Come back! Please."

Pleading.

But the only voice to reply to his calls was the Paladin behind him trying to pry and coax him away from the scene. Those words didn't matter, though. They weren't the honey sweet words of mutual affection muttered from him to you- and you to him with flushed faces, the same words that had so stubbornly invaded his mind and brought both frustrating and delightful fantasies at every chance. They weren't your soft laughs filled with agreement to his declarations that the two of you would tear up the wasteland together and never part, that together you would make not only the best duo to exist but the fiercest force to be reckoned with.

They were words of attempted assurance, but Butch didn't feel any assured, couldn't even pay them any mind when the sight of you collapsing and the muffled thud that followed took over his sights. Even the final scream he let out in response felt muted with how zerod in on you he was. You were gone. Gone. The only one who was by his side after the vault went to shit. His partner-in-crime, and you could've been... partners.

Butch couldn't bare lingering on that thought. Couldn't think clearly, couldn't breathe, couldn't see clearly. If you hadn't been so foolish to chose the moment right before you died to tell him, and if he hadn't been so stupid and just told you about the butterflies and yearning pressure in his chest you caused him earlier.

None of it mattered now. No amount of berating would fulfill his hopes to see you smiling at him again.

He was all alone again. And he never would have expected that thought to bring him to his knees the way it did.

Pounding. Persistent pounding. But not of the noise that had been mixed with desperate yells that day. A feeling. His head was pounding, and he discouraged against any thoughts of wishing that he could barely feel it. Anything to drown out the empty yet so despiar-filled feelings that had burrowed itself into him. Any distractions to make up for the lack of your company by his side.

He couldn't stop himself from wondering. Why? Why did you have to go and do that? You could've left it unsaid, you know. Could've left him debating if you ever felt the same when you were alive. It wouldn't have ached as much. Hurt still, sure, but maybe then he would've been left with enough stability to get up and move on.

But maybe he didn't deserve that. Maybe he deserved this. Treating you and Amanda that way when you were young. Always making some snide remark, always going out of his way to collide his shoulder into yours when passing by down the halls, or cornering either of you with his gang with threats of an altercation. He was an asshole, a juvenile prick. And you were too good for him. That's something he always felt deep down inside but would never confront. But it was true. And maybe that's why fate so bitterly turned out this way.

The day your life was lost was the day a numbness washed through him and tried to bury the grief that'd leave him immobile on the floor crying his heart out for months otherwise. He had trudged back to Rivet City to drown it out further at the bar. Forget for as long as possible anything that had to do with you or him. But he wasn't spared that.

"They can't be gone. They can't be. Not them, not someone as unstoppable as them. They have to be.."

Denial.

None paid attention to the drunken mumbling of the lone tunnel snake. Not as he rocked in his seat, an unconscious attempt to soothe himself.

"They can't be. You have to come back Lone. Please."

Pleading.

Maybe one day he'll get himself together. Leave his place at the bar stool and travel into the wastes again. Maybe to pick up where his companion had left off.

"Come back to me? Back to the Tunnel Snakes?"

Or maybe this will be how he wastes away. Their sacrificial feat being celebrated by many being what causes him to crumble and rot away in some water hole.

"I know I was an ass to you, but.. I can make it better. I can do better. I could be a great boyfriend if you just..."

Maybe some will say it serves him right, say its a lesson to not take what you have left with prickly and uncaring fronts. The only one who was left to stick around, to patch up his wounds when his initial inexperience led to rookie recklessness in a proper scuffle, to care- in the words he would've used; 'the only person who gives a damn about me'. That person is gone, and a chance to meet someone like them again will never cross his path.

"Come back."
