I just finished Zero Dawn. So??? Good??? I remember starting the game and thinking 'Eh, this is alright. I got it for cheap, so I might as well play it.'

A couple months later? Favourite game. It's so good, man. Triple thumbs up. Recommended to everyone I know.

Starting Forbidden West today (I found it for cheap too)! Honestly can't wait.

I was Listening to music and playing HZD and then something hit me, Something sad. All of history was destroyed, Little to nothing was saved. Thanks to Faro. These people in the world will never know what we know. Everything is gone and it's not coming back.

They will never know the struggle for the land they live on, They will never know George Washington, The revolution, The civil war. They'll never know that humans have already been through the stage of civilization they're at, Hell they'll never know how old humans really are. They'll never know of Religion (As we know it), They'll never know of the heroes that saved the human species.

Let alone they'll never hear our music, Read our literature, Watch our media. if they were too it'd be hundreds of years of context to explain. They will never know the likes of Bach, Mozart. They won't know Shakespeare, Macbeth, Beuwolf. Literature we spent years holding precious. Gone. Music we hold dear. Gone. Places. Historical landmarks. Records. Gone. Nothing left

Zero Dawn Hydrosphere - Wavetracer

Probably needs a little tweaking but this is the first one I've ever done completely digital, which feels pretty cool! It's nice to be actively learning stuff.

I was thinking about the intersection of the shapes of rays and moths and thought a combination would be really interesting for an aquatic machine mount. The original idea was a manta ray/luna moth, but it ended up being much more eagle ray than manta ray.

My general idea for this thing is that it is faster in the water than a Waterwing which gives a potential boost to aquatic combat, but it's balanced by an inability to fly - it can make charged jumps that mimic a flying fish.

Sandwiched between layers of the wing membranes are fiber optic lights that mimic natural bioluminescence, providing increased visibility at night and in deeper water.

Right… so I’ve played a little bit of ‘Horizon: Zero Dawn’ and my impressions so far are that this is a story set in a post-apocalyptic world far into the future from the modern world as we know it. All the futuristic elements - the electronic machines, the virtual reality and projector aspects with the Focus device - inform me that it’s set in a world (not sure if it’s Earth) where the inhabitants of it have had to start all over again from being this tech-predominant world and considering these dangerous electronic animals/dinosaurs have been left, they’ve become afraid of it and gone back to their cultist religious roots because they don’t understand what they’re experiencing. This girl - the protagonist you play as - comes to them out of this “sacred mountain” of which they believe is created and controlled by their goddess but is really just the last known location of the civilization who came before them and went extinct - which reminds me very much of the Assassin’s Creed mythology of the First Civilization who they regarded as Gods and Goddesses - again - because they didn’t really understand any of it. They couldn’t comprehend that level of philosophical knowledge and scientific innovation so they began to worship it as if they were their makers and governers.

So what I gather is there’s been an apocalypse/doomsday of some kind in this world and this “Aloy” is a direct descendant/succeeder of that civilization and she has to spend the whole game discovering her truth instead of what this Nora tribe told her when they took her in while simultaneously outcasting her so that she wouldn’t “taint” their misconceived way of life because in her blood and veins lies the truth to how it really is instead of some fearful belief in an “All-Mother” deity.

I got to say though... I do like that they’ve all automatically agreed that this “God” is female.

That certainly makes a change. 😂👌

Pretty interesting. Not something I haven’t seen before. They’ve done this kind of thing plenty of times before but I like the contrasting themes and tones of:

primitive VS primordial

organic VS artificial

magic VS technology

lies VS truth.

In this game, the past is what’s more advanced and the present is a lot less advanced because they’ve had to loop around due to the apocalypse that’s happened.

So things are twisted from what they should be but it makes sense because it’s a causality transactional loop.

I like it. I could be way off on what I’ve just said but I like what I’ve interpreted. 😚 I hope that is the story there.

Not really into any of the characters yet - not even the one I play as - but I’m sure I’ll get there as I play more.
