I'm going to gush for a second because I Never get to do it ever, let alone on here. I forget to lol. Anyway these new owl models are /perfect/. I wish druids could have the green one too... it's my favourite colour

I'm glad with what we've got but I'd just love the green and tawny/brown colours as well. More options are good.

Dracthyr Visage Form Wish List

I really dislike the current options (though staying in Drac form will save me thousands in transmog). My recommendation for additions (both factions). Gave some NPC examples as well.

Orc (Baskilon) and Human (Many, let’s go with Wrathion) - baseline races for both factions for dracthyr wanting to use their form to “fit in”.

Tauren (Andantenormu) and Night Elves (Merithra) - strong nature connection for the green flight (although Dante’s bronze!)

[Zandalari] Trolls (actually I only know one and he might be a spoiler) and [Dark Iron] Dwarves (Veristrasz) - the only races around when Neltharion was making the Dracthyr. Allied races in parenthesis because they’re more accurate? And the DI give me djaradin vibes.

Goblin (Rheastrasza) and Gnomes (Chromie, ofc!) - Dracthyr big, visage tiny. PLEASE it’s so funny.

Blood/Void/High Elves (You need ONE example? Stellagosa then) - NPC dragons’ fave, they already did half the work with the current visages. I don’t like em’ but the rest of you have fun.

Vulpera (Selistra) and Draenei (Osonia) - I’m cashing in my good karma from that last one. 100% wish fulfillment. Gimme. A thousand bonus points if they break faction choices and I can finally play draenei on horde.

In trade I’m willing to give up One (1) Raid Tier if they make the forms fancy, but I’d be content with Dracthyr eyes for the other forms.

The new Zandalari Troll Feral Druid form is finally here! This is an in-game preview of the new awesome dinosaur looking cat form!

Currently they do not have an animation, but for sure will most likely have animations next build.

The Zendalari Guardian Druid form now also has animations, so I included those in-game, along with a few of the other forms (Travel/Flight) in-game emotes like (sleep/dance, etc)

a comic based on a conversation with a friend about how i am basically always in flight form, and what it would be like if an NPC like literally anyone who hasn’t really seen a lot of Zandalari, saw my character transformed all the time so they just assumed the pterrordax is just an unusually helpful talking animal, and then one day it just explodes into a giant tusked person.

pulled up to the thunder bluff zepp platform and found what was very obviously a new character there switching between her mounts. hanged out at the back but eventually they keyboard turned around and noticed me and walked up and was like “whats your bear form” (was in flight form on zandalari druid) and i showed her she was just like “cool”. i forgot how inconvenient this zeppelin is and realized i could have flown in the time it took just to wait for it, but i couldnt be bothered to and HS was on cd but god it was awkward. i think this is probably a kid cause they were like “why did’nt you just fly to ogrimmar” and i was just like im too lazy lol and they then just jumped around the zeppelin innocently doing their /mountspecial

Shadowsands Bazaar Purchases 5/30

Wicker Charm:

A triangular talisman made of wicker and bone, tied together with string. Keeping it over your bed will shield you from dream interference; keeping it in front of your door will shield your home and family from harmful magic. Of course, the charm can be repurposed toward more nefarious deeds, but neither Aura nor the Dreadmist Crew would know anything about such things.

Fer the Respite. Better to be too prepared than unprepared. Hope we don’t need it, but it’s there if we do. I’m startin’ ta fall behind on how this kinda magic works. Might need ta take a trip ta Drustvar and see what Alton thinks about this charm. I can feel that it’s real, but I wonder how effective it really is. Might as well visit soon. Book ‘a Bones is actin weird. He might know why.

MD Boarding Party:

An Eight Barrelled Rifle with a rotating cylinder. Fielding 80. Calibre ball shot, this behemoth fires like a double-action revolver, and has a built in feature to discharge all eight shots one after the other with great speed. (Think the Repeater Handgun from Warhammer) It is made from fine steel and wood. A great addition to anyone's armoury! It weighed about 12lbs, and could be used to knock a fool stupid if the situation called for it.

Fer me. Hehe. Winter’s Veil came real early. I knew me and this thing were ta go hand-in-hand the moment I laid eyes on all eight cylinders. Now I got something that’s got real firepower without havin’ ta use Shadow if I need it. Gotta practice quickly loadin’ it. It’s more unwieldy than my pistol. Eight shots, and it becomes a club until I got the time ta load the cylinders.

Aqua Regissima:

This extremely potent solvent will take care of most of your disintegration needs. From gold to flesh, everything melts under the sizzling touch of this base.

Fer Loira: Figure this might be helpful in some way or another. Strong ass acid. Got no idea what the name means. I know ‘Aqua’ means water. The other part? Hell if I know. Remind me to speak ta ya about somethin’. Got two new things that might interest ya: One new potion recipe I managed ta get from an old friend and some kind ‘a adrenaline-storin’ parasite I figure ya might wanna study.

Leather Mask: Red Dragon

Supple leather has been wet formed and smoothed into various creatures and shapes, moulded onto a face shaped block to promise an excellent fit upon the wearer’s face. Each piece has been hand stitched with a deep black thread - for some colors this blends in well, in others it creates artistic details. Masks come with a soft cord that allows it to be easily tied onto whoever it is meant for.

Fer Ratbit. Figured this’d fit ya both metaphorically and literally. Sorta know where ya got yer skills. Figured this’d be on brand fer ya whenever ya gotta get some wetwork done. Wherever ya are, stay safe. But more importantly, stay hidden, and stay alive.

Porcia Blend Rolled Cigarettes x20:

A blend of fine, mellow herbs combined with high-quality Westfall green tobacco. Combined with cured Kul Tiran Billow-Weed, a recreational herb favored by Great Sea Corsairs, Star-Lily petals from the Shadowmoon Nightmarsh of Draenor, and a small amount of sticky, refined felweed resin.

Fer me. Ma, I know ya always hated anything that even rhymed with ‘tobacco,’ hated its smell on pop’s beard. But honestly? I don’t gotta worry about killin’ my lungs when I’m already dead. Wish ya were here though. Even ya scoldin’ me is somethin’ I miss. I... Sometimes, I wish I had the power to step through the veil, inta the land ‘a the dead just so I can see ya again. Smyrna Oil

The oil of the Alteraci Sassafrass herb, combined with the spores of the Mudsnout Blossom Mushroom of Hillsbrad. A few drops of this oil for the experienced, or a single drop for the wary, should be soaked into a small square of cloth and tucked between the lips and teeth. This oil induces a kind, slow, altered state of pleasant and colorful hallucinations and happy, sleepy awe. Especially useful when observing the beauty of the natural world. The effects fade roughly an hour after the cloth is removed from the mouth. Doubly effective and slightly restorative for undead.

Fer me. Pop talked me up and down about meditation in the letters before he disappeared. I’m still skeptical that it works for the dead. But Nigel assured me it does. Takin’ this is like escapin’ fer awhile. Sometimes get tired, exhausted enough ta not even feel like movin’ sometimes. Maybe this can help.

Throwing Knives of Seeking x5:

These well-balanced throwing knives appear unnaturally keen and sharp. Before it is thrown, the wielder chooses a target. The knife will then correct its own course of flight as needed to hit that target.

Fer me. Lately I’ve noticed my aim’s gettin’ a little shaky. Might be the mindlessness startin’ ta take hold. Sometimes, my hands feel so cold, and they won’t stop shakin’. I’m scared. Feel like my time’s gettin’ closer each day. And shaky aim might get me my second death. Need ways ta defend myself without relyin’ on a gun. Age is gettin’ ta me. Sometimes, I wonder if I should succumb ta it or keep goin’. Latter wins every time. Sometimes, I don’t know why I keep choosin’ it. Maybe it’s just because I’d rather die standin’, not quietly kickin’ the bucket.

Pipe of Insight:

Fer me. One ‘a the worst feelin’s in the world is bein’ tired, and ya can’t sleep or do nothin’ about it other than just lie down and hope it eventually goes away. Works on Undead. Made sure ta ask. Hopefully, this’ll make restin’ a lot easier.

Skeletal Stag and Doe Figurine:

This is a graceful pair of carved skeletal wooden figurines, the Eversong wood of a pale hue with a very fine grain. The stag stands tall and alert while the doe rests at his side, head also turned forward as if having just noticed something ahead. The eyes glimmer against the wood with dark, cloudy onyx gems set to match them as a pair. Within the curve of the doe’s body one could rest a candle, though incense could also be leaned against her spine to hold it upright as it burns.

Fer Alton. Sorry I ain’t been ta Drustvar lately ta help ya out on the farm. Travel ta Kul’Tiras proper’s hard. But I think tensions are easin’ up after, well, the Banshee showed her true colors and the war ended. Reckon these figurines would be fittin’ fer ya. Swear this stag even looks like one ‘a yer forms, bones and all. I ain’t forgotten ya. Just waitin’ fer the right time ta visit. Kill a witch fer me, Alton. Stay safe.

Playable Race concept: Harpies

disclaimer: This is a post for fun, it is in no way meant to be taken seriously. I have thoroughly combed the lore before making this post and is just a “what if” scenario just for shits and giggles and is meant to be taken with a grain of salt.*

Race: Harpies

Faction: Alliance

Languages: Darnassian, Common

Summary: The Harpies are the children of Aviana. Savage and deadly, they live in groups known as flights where they are always out for the blood of the local humanoids. The only benign flight ever known were the Wormwing, formerly allies of the Druids of the Talon who lived peacefully with them at the Shrine of Aviana in Mount Hyjal. However that all came to an end when their leader Marion Wormwing sided with Deathwing during the Cataclysm and her death caused the remaining Wormwing to leave Mount Hyjal and their former home behind.

However the Wormwing did not perish. Having regretted their betrayal of Aviana they fell into self-imposed exile out of shame, keeping themselves hidden waiting for the chance to redeem themselves to Aviana. That chance came when Tyrande invoked Elune’s wrath, causing a great disturbance to which brought the Wormwing out of hiding to swear loyalty to Night Elves in hopes of redemption and joining the Alliance.

Draining Kiss: Active. The user draws the target in for a poison kiss, dealing X nature damage and increasing the caster’s leech by 15% for 15 seconds. Melee Range, 3 minute cooldown.

To the Skies!: Active. The user takes flight, being able to fly in a similar manner as if mounted. Scales with riding skill including flying, unable to be cast in combat.

Alula: Passive.The user automatically reduces falling speed after falling for 3 seconds.

Experience With Dark Powers: Passive. Reduces the duration of curses cast on the user by 20% and reduces shadow damage taken by 1%.

Love of Shiny Things: Passive. Increased chance of finding gems and ore.

Dance: Same as Zandalari Moonkin form, as new a new model would be based on that rig.

Customization: Hair, hair color, tattoos, accessories. This race only has one gender model, female.

Tell us more about the dragon bab 👏

Allllright, I have some things about her but my knowledge of wow lore is really lacking so its probably wouldnt even work canonically but whatever xD

So, while she was still just, well..an egg, her mother was killed in Uldum by bandits, and they took the eggs to sell them to pirates. Two of them hatched (her sister is @artemisisbae 's oc) so they locked them up, but did not hurt them. They kind of stayed with the pirates until they were able to use humanoid forms and eventually found their way back to the bronze dragonflight which was around a year ago or so. They learnt different languages through that year and found themselves interested in other humanoid cultures.

They learnt from the older dragons until they were allowed to go on their way, so Valena(@artemisisbae s) went to Northrend while Ashe(my bub) stayed with a human family in Stormwind. When Pandaria happened she went with the family's son to the new land and, yeah she met with Wrathion there. :D

- her name is Ashidormi, or Ashe in her humanoid form which would be a high elf but I draw wow dragons with those shorter pointy ears so yes

-she holds the flight close to her heart even though she is not with them

-respects both factions but feels herself closer to the Alliance (she likes trolls a lot, though esp the Zandalari)

- loves pandaren culture the most out of all she has studied so far

- she is very smort, speaks most of the languages of the two factions

What determines what druids can shapeshift into?

Judging by quests from the druid class hall, old animal form quest chains, new dialogue from 8.1.5 content, and more, it seems as if the wild gods and senior druids determine what animal forms their followers take on, but druids can ideally shapeshift into any animal they want, even an animal that’s half-man and half-cat. This would explain why druid forms not only vary radically from race to race but also embody a wide range of creatures.

The night elves seem to have been blessed with their specific animal forms in part by the wild gods Cenarius and Ursoc. Ursoc’s dungeon journal entry, while a little vague, says that he’s, “closely linked to the druidic power of shapeshifting” [Dungeon Journal: Emerald Nightmare, Ursoc]. A quote from the Legion Druid Class Preview webpage reads, “Through communion with nature and the demigod Cenarius, Lord of the Forest, Druids are supernaturally endowed with the gift of shapeshifting, allowing them to take the form of all manner of nature’s creature”. Additionally, outdated text from the aquatic form quest says, “The time has come for you to learn more about one of the various animal aspects that Cenarius has blessed us with the ability to change into” [Quest: A Lesson to Learn]. Of course, this dialogue could be interpreted to mean that Cenarius has not necessarily chosen what forms druids take on, but rather given them the ability to shapeshift, since he was the one who brought druidism to the night elves and tauren in the first place. Ursoc, on the other hand, might be the reason why night elves and tauren have bear form, hence his being linked to shapeshifting. The Kul Tirans and Zandalari, however, get their animal forms from somewhere else.

Unfortunately, I do not have a max level horde character, so I’m not terribly familiar with Zandalar content and what the quests dealing with the loa have to say about this topic, although I do know the trolls’ shapeshifting abilities come from their connection to a multitude of loa. 

Arthur Tradewind, one of the Kul Tiran Thornspeakers training under the Drust druid Ulfar, says, “I keep trying to convince Ulfar that a goat form would be amazing” [Quest: Balance in All Things]. He goes on to say, “But he always starts talking about ‘dignity’ and I stop listening,” implying that druids can possibly shapeshift into any animal of their choice, provided they have the means and the right teacher. 

On a somewhat related note, it appears the Druids of the Talon get their flight form from the Idol of Aviana and, by extension, the wild god Aviana. When the idol was stolen during Legion content, Thisalee Crow commented that she was unable to shift into a storm crow without it [Quest: Defense of Aviana]. Quest text from that chain also says that the “idol acts as a link between the Druids of the Talon and the powers of flight granted to [them] by Aviana” [Quest: You Can’t Take the Sky from Me]. Flight form may be a unique case, however, since it doesn’t appear that any of the other animal forms are currently restricted by the use of or connection to an idol.

To reiterate, it’s a common belief that druids can only adopt animal forms related to the wild gods they worship, but choice bits of dialogue like the aforementioned blurb from the Legion Class Preview webpage or what Arthur Tradewind says about a goat form makes it seem as if druids can generally shapeshift into whatever creature they want. After all, as far as we know, the Drust didn’t base their animal forms off of any wild gods (although it’s surmised they were taught druidism by a wild god). 

Druids are, undoubtedly, also influenced by their environment when it comes to first picking their animal forms. Each race’s unique forms have a tendency to resemble creatures native to their homeland and/or surroundings, which would explain why Druids of the Flame opt for an animal like the scorpion while the Zandalari take on forms more reptilian in nature.

One could even conjecture that tapping into new and different power sources provides druids with access to more forms. Fringe druid sects, like the Druids of the Flame, Nightmare, and Fang all employ the use of strange animal forms (scorpion, roc, spider, snake) that aren’t practiced by the druids of the Cenarion Circle.

That said, I suspect that the only thing preventing druids from shapeshifting into anything they want is likely the absence of a teacher that can instruct them how to take on those new forms. The best and most magically endowed teachers for the task would, obviously, be the wild gods, hence why most druid forms appear to resemble them in one way or another (e.g. the bear and Ursoc, the storm crow and Aviana, pack form and Goldrinn, and the troll druid forms and their loa). However, some like Ulfar may well be powerful enough on their own to take on the essence of a new animal and teach it to their followers while others, like Elerethe Renferal and Fandral Staghelm, can use their connection to powerful primal forces like the Emerald Nightmare or the Firelands to learn new animal forms.

Why are Highmountain Tauren Druids the only Allied Race that didn't get a cool aquatic form?

The Zandalari and the Kul'Tirans did, WoW disrespecting my moose-peeps

Sure the land form is very cool, as a New Englander I always appreciate a good moose

And the flight for is... eh... It makes sense with their theme and where they live

But the aquatic form? Just the default. I did all that work of unlocking them for the Delux™ Tauren experience. Honestly I feel personally attacked, saddened even
