Zaha Hadid Architects Transform Riyadh Metro Station into a Work of Art
Zaha Hadid died in 2016, though the firm bearing her name continues on, and she would have fully approved of the new metro station in Riyadh. Indeed, public transit just got a futuristic upgrade in Riyadh. Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA) have unveiled their striking design for the King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD) Metro Station, turning a simple transit hub into a flowing architecturalâŠ

Zaha Hadid Architects begins construction on Ukrainian metro stations
British firm Zaha Hadid Architects has begun construction on three new stations for the Dnipro Metro in Ukraine as part of a four-kilometre line extension.

Generali Tower
Architect(s): Zaha Hadid Architects
Area: 66785 mÂČ
Year: 2018
Place : Milan, Italy
Generali Tower is within the CityLife masterplan that has redeveloped Milanâs abandoned trade fair grounds following the fairâs relocation to Rho Pero in 2005. Located above the new Tre Torri station on Line 5 of the cityâs metro system, CityLife opens the 90-acre site to year-round public use for the first time; providing new civic spaces, public parks and residential areas, in addition to shopping districts and corporate offices.
The tower houses up to 3,900 employees to meet Generaliâs continued growth as one of the worldâs largest financial institutions. The towerâs double-façade of sun-deflecting louvers flanked by glazing provides extremely efficient environmental control for each floor and ensures excellent energy performance.
[...] Inclined perimeter columns follow the twisting geometry of the tower to mirror the inclined alignment of its external façade units. These perimeter columns also maximise usable office space within the towerâs coherent formal envelope.

Acceptance
After completing our IPR a few weeks ago, I headed into this project with confidence I didn't have prior to that experience. I had even more confidence because of my teammates. For the teammates that were on the Pico House project with me, I am fortunate in that I have an understanding of their work and communication style. I felt as though our capabilities are unknown and unlimited at the start of our kickoff meeting. We were all excited and ready to start our project, but didn't have a clear scope or goal. It was as though our team was a loaded gun without a target. Good intentions and motivation were no doubt present, but we needed a shared vision.

âUnicorn Islandâ, the 67-hectare masterplan by Zaha Hadid Architects in Chengduâs Tianfu New Area which the project got itsâ name from the tech start-up companies that are worth $1 billion. Aimed as an opportunity to enchance the communityâs contentment, it will host 700,000 researchers, staff, visitors and residents. âšUnicorn Island is aimed to gradually shift Chinaâs economy from manufacturing to knowledge and services. Inhabiting the environmental strategies, this project offers great connectivity that will enable the entire island to be within a bike ride or short walking distance, water-conservation areas, urban cultivation and green spaces. âšThe project is consists of a central plaza and metro station ringed by naturally-shaped clusters. Depending on the program and functionality requirements that may arise over time, the blueprint of the project might expand. #zahahadid #zahahadidarchitects #unicornisland #culture #parametricism #parametricdesign #parametric #parametricarchitecture #computational #computationaldesign #architecture #architect #archilovers #architecturephotography #mimar #mimarlik #arquitectura #awesomeshots #amazingshot #photoshoots #photooftheday #projectoftheday #render #renders #rendering #renderings #computationaldesign #computational #computation (at Chengdu, China) https://www.instagram.com/p/CHkOMSrhx-B/?igshid=1ju2ykfytdze3

New Housing in Empalot District, Toulouse, France
The CoBe Architecture & Paysage agency has just delivered a housing program in the Empalot district in Toulouse, France. Discover an urban architecture with finesse.
In the south of Toulouse, in the Empalot district, 90 housing units for sale and 20 social housing units are located in two volumes, a vertical one: «the belvedere», and a horizontal one: «the prairie building», sliding against each other and showing light facades with sun protections and generous balconies.
A few metro stations from the heart of Toulouse, along the Garonne, Empalot is a district of the city being renewed, close to the city center, mainly composed of housing complexes of the 1950s, with generous public spaces. It is one of the cityâs gateways.
With a plot located between the river and a football field, in a wide-open environment, the MG3 lot of Empalot district acts as a leader in the urban composition system and offers a real metropolitan dimension to the project.
With a south-facing main facade bordering a football field, it was essential to think about how to guarantee summer comfort to all apartments. That is why a double device has been set up, combining large metal sun protections, extending 2 meters wide long balconies all along the South and West facades, and creating real outdoor rooms in addition.
Inside, the belvedere hosts large typologies of housing which all benefit from long balconies, and sun protections to the South and West. The prairie building hosts the same layout of housing on its 5 floors, all crossing or double-oriented, and always accompanied by long balconies.
