I've noticed people who claim to love core 4 and Graysonfam completely ignore Kory's relationship with Gar and Rachel. Especially Rachel. I don't get that like wth is that about?
She's only relevant to some people as a sex object for Dick and that's it. Just be badass and have sex with Dick. Only Donna and Rachel truly get him. They ignore that she's Dick's best friend. They also ignore the emotional support she provides for Rachel and Gar and is given in return. Rachel is why Kory stayed in season 2. She called Kory "her person". Kory and Gar also have a special bond and he was devasted when he thought she died.
She matters to them just as much as Dick does. She always has.

I have seen a couple posts defending Dick's response of 'I don't know' and his reasons for not telling Kory about his vision. I completely agree with all of those posts. However, I am posting this to highlight Kory's reaction and why I believe the dickkory scene in 4x06 might be one of her most vulnerable.
I disagree with people who don't like the scene. I think it represents dickkory really well and demonstrates this frustrating, at times, dynamic they've had since season 1.
Kory has always been the more emotionally intelligent one between them both. However, I think there are two topics Kory finds hard to talk about and deal with in her usual straightforward way; her powers and her relationship with Dick.
In season 1, Kory made it her mission to get Dick to open up to her. Partially for her own amusement and partly because she was curious about him. She has never been afraid to call him out on his shit and push him to recognise his emotions. In a way, she has been this emotional beacon for Dick since the beginning. However, Kory only ever guides Dick when the feelings he is figuring out are about himself, his past, or whatever trouble the team is in. She has never tried to push him to express how he feels about them as something more.
I think this is because even though Kory is strong and self-assured, just like Dick clearly has these insecurities about whether Kory would even want to try again. So too, Kory is scared about whether he wants a romantic future with her. And if I am being honest, I can't blame her. So many people don't recognise just how much bullshit Kory has had to put up with because she cares about Dick.
I am not blaming Dick for the state of their relationship; they've had so much to deal with, and I understand why neither of them has tried to pursue anything. However, Kory has had to deal with Richard's dismissiveness in Gotham, his regression into his past self, and his rekindling with Barbra. With everything Kory had to witness in Gotham, it's fair to say that she probably lost some hope of them rekindling.
But now, fast forward to season 4, Dick is better. He is more involved with the team, attentive, and co-leading with Kory. He's a better Dick than when he was in Gotham. However, He is still hardheaded Dick Grayson, and even after everything, he still doesn't "believe" in prophecies, visions, and destiny.
All things Kory does believe. But now imagine being Kory and listening to Dick continuously go on about how none of it is real. How all of it is bullshit and how they shouldn't take the book and everything else seriously. Only for her to have a vision, a vision of their future, a vision Zadira is saying is her destiny. Any hope Kory might have lost came back at that moment because she does believe, no matter Dick's cynicism. And because it is a future that she knows deep down, she wants.
But then Rachel tells her that Dick also had the same vision, that he also saw their little girl. This whole situation isn't heartbreaking for Kory just because he didn't tell her. It's painful because she has had to listen to Dick dismiss any chance of visions and destiny being real all week. But now she knows he has been saying all of this after experiencing and seeing the same thing she did.
Now onto the conversation they had this episode. I don't think Kory wanted to speak to Dick; like I stated earlier, how Kory handles her relationship with Dick differs significantly from how she handles other aspects of her life. I think some of the reasons why Kory hasn't initiated a conversation with Dick about them and the status of their relationship is that she doesn't want to push him when he's not ready. Additionally, I think she wants him to do it. She doesn't want to be his emotional guide when it comes to them; I think she wants to be fought for and chosen.
But she had to initiate the conversation this episode because if she didn't, Richard never would. Although he is far better than season 3 Dick, he is still emotionally constipated and scared of what it all means. However, how the conversation goes fits them very well. Kory doesn't go in with an antagonistic attitude (not that I expected her to), nor does she actually express her thoughts on it. Although she initiated the conversation, she seemed to want Dick to lead it (again, she is guiding him). Even during their discussion, Dick dismisses destiny. And where most people would probably feel defeated by this continuous dismissal and not say anything. Kory still tells dick about her vision of Mar'i. I think she still decided to tell him because she is an optimist, and I think she still had hope that no matter his beliefs in destiny, Dick believes in their vision and that he possibly wants it.
However, Dick doesn't react the way she wants him to. Even though his response might be honest, it reaffirms why she never wanted to be the one who started a discussion like this. (This discussion about Mar'i is more than just 'oh, we had a shared vision.' It is literally everything they have been avoiding bubbling over). I think to Kory; Dick's response, coupled with him saying destiny isn't real, is the final thing that makes her give up. This is why she finished the conversation spitting his words back in his face. I think unintentionally, Dick confirms to Kory that he doesn't want them to try again.
This scene is heartbreaking because Kory doesn't precisely speak her mind on the situation. But it is so evident that she is asking Dick to reassure her, to tell her that this thing she has been sitting patiently for (the two of them together) will happen. That he wants it to happen. This is one of the most vulnerable scenes she has had. And even though the scene isn't that long and the dialogue isn't that heavy, it says and expresses so much. This is why I can't understand the dislike for this scene; within such a short conversation, both Dick and Kory are emotionally exposed to each other and to us; Kory is left seeing Dicks shame and uncertainty. While Dick has to witness Kory's anger and hurt.
#titans#kory anders#dick grayson#dickkory#this is so unnecessarily long#but I had so many thoughts about the scene#and just how brilliantly it showcased korys emotions#this scene remind us that kory is human#that dick isn’t the only one who’s scared#it reminded us that dick does love kory#this scene in my opinion was perfect#the acting was brilliant#and the angst it has give us is everything

Sorry this is so long, but I can’t stop thinking about that random Christmas scene in the Titans finale. It seemed so out of place. However, while down in the rabbit hole it occurred to me 😂 Given that DK get together at the end of the series finale but we know now Mar’i was coming S5. What if that scene was actually supposed to be the ending scene for S4 and a setup for S5? The house they were all in looked like Wayne Manor, but could’ve been one of Bruce’s mansions (that DK moved to, perhaps in Bludhaven, to be closer to Rachel 😉) They’re all getting together for the holidays. Gar is back from the Red, Conner and Krypto come in from Metropolis. Tim is with his family in Gotham. It’s also a call back to DK being a couple and living domestically in Caul’s Folly. I know that Rachel’s hair is dark again, but it was dark in the future vision Zadira showed Kory of the team and Mar’i in the park for her birthday party too. Kory’s jewelry makes it seem like it was in the past (and the auto description said it was in the past) but after sacrificing herself Kory got her fire powers back so it wouldn’t be a stretch for her to use her old jewelry. The story about the star and baby Jesus I thought was tied to Kory’s rebirth in the finale, but it could also serve to foreshadow baby Mar’i coming #NightStar In that case, DK being all hugged up makes more sense as well!
You have a point! Would be an awesome setup and now we won't have it!!!!!!!!!!!!!😭😭😭😭 (and honestly, even if it didn't make sense I loved having at least a few seconds of them acting domestically, it makes me cry thinking what we could have had in a whole season of them like that T_T).
My brain still thinks we're waiting for another season. I still can't digest that this was their last season. Probably I'll never will T_T

Reasons why I feel like Dick and Kory can kiss at the end of Part 1 and it won’t ruin their relationship progression:
- They’ve been doing this flimsy flirty dance for months (years? Who knows with titans math)! And y’all are grown ass adults. You know what time it is, and the desperate circumstances are here!
- The first two episodes show how close and comfortable they have become with each other since leaving Gotham. Dick telling Kory to be careful when going to question Lex and admitting to Kory that he was scared was major character development and displays of subtle affection through protectiveness and vulnerability.
- In the same realm, Kory was a lot more physically affectionate with him than she’s ever been since what 105? She clearly feels more comfortable in their dynamic and with him as person.
- Dick has seen his desires with Kory and Kory has seen her destiny or desires with Dick. Although I don’t think there will be time to discuss those visions in 406. Kory could tell him why she let Sebastian go and what Zadira attempted to manipulate her with. If they do bond over these visions, I don’t feel like it would be premature.
- Ultimately I think some physical form of affection is coming, likely a hug, but if a kiss happens who am I to complain or to say it wasn’t built up enough or it wasn’t great storytelling.
Dick’s feelings for Kory have been building up for 3 seasons and I believe Kory has always had a soft spot for Dick, they just needed to clear up their pasts. If he decides to kiss her on the forehead or cheek or even briefly on the lips in a moment of heightened concern, I’m not sure there would be any harm there and it would probably be natural. Or maybe she plants a little small kiss on his neck! A girl can dream! Oo he could apologize for not listening to her visions before.
This isn’t one of my fics though so I’ll take my little hug and be satisfied 🤣 And try not to breakdown too bad with the wait for Part ✌🏾
Happy Midseason Finale Week!!!💜💙

Explained: Lockheed Martin delivers pod-sized laser energy weapon to USAF; what is it?
Lockheed Martin has delivered a LANCE system to the Air Force Research Laboratory of the US Air Force for operational testing. What is this energy weapon, and why is this development significant?
Concept image of a LANCE pod mounted on an F-16 fighter aircraft. (Image courtesy: Lockheed Martin)
What is this energy weapon, known as Laser Advancements of Next-Generation Compact Environments (LANCE), and what are its features? Why is this development significant? What impact will it have on future battlefields? The Indian Express explains.
According to a Lockheed Martin executive quoted by the US website, the LANCE system is one-sixth the size of the other laser energy systems being developed by the company.
Why is this development significant?
The development is significant as it is an acknowledgement that efforts to reduce the size of the laser energy weapon have been successful, and it is now ready to be tested after being mounted on an aircraft.
The fact that the size of the energy weapon has been reduced to that of a pod which can be mounted on a fighter aircraft, or any aircraft for that matter, is an important development.
This laser weapon will give the USAF the capability of shooting down incoming anti-aircraft missiles, thus giving it a crucial edge over its adversaries.
Breaking Defense quoted a Lockheed Martin executive as saying that LANCE is the “smallest, lightest high energy laser of its power class that Lockheed Martin has built to date”. The executive was further quoted as saying it is a critical benchmark in developing an operational laser weapon system in the airborne domain.
While the energy weapon has been developed by Lockheed Martin, the beam control system has been developed by Northrop Grumman, and the pod which will be mounted on an aircraft has been developed by Boeing.
Also in Explained | Next-generation Corvettes, and the combat edge Navy seeks through them
What are the implications of LANCE in future battlefields?
While LANCE has been reduced in size for operational use on aircraft, the system can definitely be put to use on a variety of platforms on land and at sea.
At present, LANCE has been manufactured for a defensive role. However, this research could be furthered to develop an offensive weapon, one that could not only shoot down aircraft and drones, but also be mounted atop ground- and sea-based mobile platforms for offensive roles.
Which countries are actively pursuing development of laser energy weapons?
Apart from the US, several other countries have robust laser energy weapon development programmes. This includes China, Russia, Israel, Germany, France and India.
Israel recently tested its laser weapon to shoot down a drone from the ground.
Russia, meanwhile, said it had tested a laser weapon — Zadira — in Ukraine recently, a claim dismissed by western powers.
Don't miss | What are the precision guided rocket systems being supplied to Ukraine?
While Chinese Navy ships have been photographed with energy weapons onboard, the US Navy officially tested one such system some years back.
India, too, is developing a directed energy weapon named DURGA II, which stands for Directed Unrestricted Ray-Gun Array. It is said to be a light energy weapon of 100 kilowatt capacity.

My roan blue quarter horse Grom Zadira (translation: Thunder the Bully) on winter photoshoot. The pinto near him on second pic is Octoberfest.
Grom was given to me on my birthday by my dear friend and hobbyhorse maker, Alisa. It was her first work with "quarter horse" sewing pattern. And o think it was her first time making western bridles. Love the bead decorations :3
Truly, Zadira is one of a kind horse.

Tell us your DK rambles!! I fear we may need them to get through the upcoming hiatus…
Okay, DickKory Nation, I just rewatched the scene (as if I really needed to, as if I don't have it memorized already) to give my proper thoughts without forgetting anything. And prepare yourself; this is going to be a long post. I can't help it!
So, for context, the birthday scene/dream comes on the heels of Kory learning -- or remembering, I should say -- that her order must rise to stop the chaos. Zadira tests Kory to show that Kory will use her powers as a defense but not an offense, and maybe she should change that since Zadira has seen the destruction that Sebastian will bring, presumably, as Brother Blood.
"He will bring the end of days. I've seen it, and you must, too," is Zadira's line that leads us -- and Kory -- into the dreamscape.
The direction of this sequence is breathtaking. The light flares, the whispy, whimsical energy of it all, the saturated colors, the echoing voices, the hopeful score -- the execution is SO WELL DONE.
And Kory looking onto the scene with such joy in her eyes only to find the Kory in the scene looking back at her. The acknowledgment of what can be -- what will be. The family being together, too? It's not only about Kory, Dick, and Mar'i being a family. Because they are. It's about Dick, Kory, Mar'i, Gar, Rachel, and Tim being a family. Because they are. They're all there together for Mar'i's 4th birthday, and that matters. The implications of that occasion matter, which is why Zadira shows Kory this specific vision -- prophecy if you will.
It's such an intimate scene, and the script and the direction lend themselves to that beautifully. The way Dick looks at Kory while he holds Mar'i. Their Mar'i. It breaks my heart wide open because I want this for them. I need this for them. And so does Kory.
That's why it's so crushing when reality sets in and Kory is left alone at that birthday party. That red balloon floats up to the sky as Kory reels from that whiplash of going from that unbridled joy and overwhelming love to deep anxiety and sadness when she's left alone. Just like that, Kory loses what could be and what should be.
And, still, when she comes to in the Elko diner, she doesn't turn on Sebastian. She doesn't decimate him or blame him. Instead, Kory protects him and fights for him. Even though doing so could mean she loses everything and everyone.
"Your destiny was sealed in the stars long ago. You were never meant to save Sebastian. You were born to kill him."
And yet, Kory cannot rationalize killing someone who has done nothing wrong. Zadira expresses the need to do so before Sebastian brings the end of everything, but Kory can't. She won't. It's a stark difference from where Kory starts the show, as in Titans Season 1. She came to Earth to kill Trigon and Rachel. Now, Rachel is the one who stands by Kory's side, holding her up as Kory vows to stand in defiance of a destiny that means killing an innocent person.
This entire sequence exemplifies Kory's growth, her love for Rachel, her trust in Rachel's belief in Sebastian, Kory's evolving opinion of worth and free will, and Kory's complicated relationship with her Tamaranean duty. It's so much, and it comes up against a scene of tranquility and family and love, and they clash in a kaleidoscope of internal and external conflict. It's a great story.
Titans frequently struggles to find balance in plot-driven and character-driven stories, but this combines them in such an intriguing way that I cannot wait to see what comes next.

Ever since finding out they’re going to have a conversation about Mar’i, I’ve been hyper fixating on what it would look like. Here’s my version of how I think it could go:
“Listen, I need to talk to you about something” she pulls him to the side, so only he can hear her.
He doesn’t say anything, but he’s looking at her intently, ready to hear what she has to say.
“Zadira showed me a version of the future, a future that we might lose if we don’t stop Sebastian.” Kory is hesitant to continue, knowing she is going to have to reveal a vulnerability she’s not entirely comfortable doing with Dick, since they haven’t been intimately involved in a while.
Dick senses her hesitation. “What is it Kory?”
Kory looks intensely into his eyes. “It… it was us. With our family. Rachel, Gar… Tim, Connor… and a little girl. I don’t know her name, but she called you… she called you daddy. She was holding a -“
“A red balloon.” Dick finished her sentence. Dick’s expression was a mix of confusion, relief, and longing. On one hand, he couldn’t believe she had seen her too. He couldn’t believe they both saw the same future together, the same little girl. But on the other hand, he thought it must be a coincidence, nothing set in stone. Just a version of the future they maybe want in their subconscious because of their history and dependence on each other as team leaders.
Kory on the other hand was so shocked she couldn’t speak for a few moments. He saw her too? Could it have been their actual child they created, and not just a trick by Zadira?
“Wait,” Kory stammered. “You saw her too?”
Dick waited a moment before responding, careful with his words. “When I was in the pit, she showed up. Holding a red balloon.”
He was so to the point, Kory was starting to get annoyed. “And what, you didn’t want to say anything? A little Tamaranian girl comes to you calling you Daddy and you didn’t think to mention it?”
Dick continues to give Kory his intense, stubborn Grayson stare, unwavering.
“Unless there’s another Tamarian women you’ve had relations with?” Kory half jokes.
“Just you.” He says matter of fact-ly.
Kory looked away for the first time since their conversation started, but quickly looks back into his eyes when he starts to speak again.
“Look, Kory. I didn’t mention it because we were kind of in the middle of something. Saving Gotham. I didn’t think it was really the time to bring it up.”
“And what about after? Maybe those several hours in that godforsaken RV?”
Dick sighs, not really sure how to justify it any further. He should’ve mentioned it, he knows he should. But not only did he think it wasn’t real, but he also didn’t want it to pressure Kory into a relationship they haven’t had the chance to resurrect on their own time. He wanted them to have a chance to try again, when everything settles down.
Kory doesn’t wait for an answer. Instead she asks, “Is that something that you want?”
Dick is thrown by the question. He lowers his head and asks “What?” even though he heard her, loud and clear.
“Is that something that you would want?” Kory repeats. “That future. The future that we both saw?”
They continue to look into each other’s eyes, recounting those few days when they were together. It feels so long ago. So much has happened since then. But they’ve remained partners. They’ve remained dependent on each other. They remember that conversation they had in bed that last morning. Dick didn’t think they would ever reach a point where he would find who he was and be comfortable enough to share himself with another person, much less a woman he thought so highly of. Is this what he wanted? He knew the answer, but if he admitted it, and it got taken away, he didn’t know if he could recover.
Before he could answer, Gar comes into his visual field, “Guys, we need you, right now.” As quickly as he was there, he was walking away, expecting the two leaders to follow and take care of whatever new emergency was facing them.
Dick turns back to Kory. “We can talk about this later.”
Kory sighs, looking down, knowing they won’t talk about it later. She reluctantly nods, and follows Dick over to the rest of the group.
I hope it’s more involved than that! But knowing our Grayson, I really don’t see him diving deep into anything. Just being really dismissive. What do y’all think? Can’t wait until tomorrow!

I really loved all of the interactions in this episode!
Obviously DickKory and Mar'i. The way Kory so easily accepted her having a baby with Dick...if y'all don't have a conversation already. And Mari's Bday party with the family was so cute until Zadira ruined it with her bad vibes.
Rachel and Sebastian 💔
Kory & Rachel which is a dynamic I've really missed
Dick being all concerned about Gar then so happy when he was okay

Titans 4x05 & 4x06 Reaction
I'm not putting a spoiler warning, I'm wayyyy too late in posting my reviews of these episodes that everyone should have watched by now.
This is my only warning.
4x05
-Connor being absolutely sick and not telling anyone is my villain origin story. This boy already has been through enough in 5 episode, but yes, Mother Mayhem, let's make the boy vomit up a giant snake and posses his body (Although, who wouldn't want to posses that man's body).
-Bernard and Tim running from the snake had me dying. Bernard falling had me cackling. Tim really thought he could do something to stop that snake, huh? Homeboy was trying to balance his boa staff on his head not even 20 seconds before that.
-Bernard gives me BIG Patrick vibes from Schitts Creek. I can't tell if its just they dynamic between Bernard and Tim where it somewhat reflects that of Patrick and David, but I'm such a fan of the coupling. I know there is a lot of mixed feelings between the pair, but I'm happy if they're happy.
-Jinx and gar's banter is actually pretty cute. Don't come for me lol.
-I'm glad Gar is trying to figure out more information about his visions and it's not just a dead-end plot-line this season. There is a huge purpose for Gar and I can't wait until it comes to fruition.
-Connor trying to sabotage the plan...boy did no one learn from season 3? Connor blew up Kom's only way home to Tamaran. He has been unstable for how many episodes now and no one seem to give a damn.
-Dick and Kori's brief conversation about the book annoyed me. Dick is such a nonbeliever that sometimes I want to reach through my screen and shaking some sense into him. And Kori did bring up a good point that Sebastian is there now and they should take him out, but Dick is also right in the fact that they took their time with Rachel and it ended okay (but it makes me think that since Sebastian exists, that's why Rachel ended up not evil and defeating Trigon).
-Dick's fucking cartwheel away from Connor, gold. Pure gold.
-I'm kinda sad Kori didn't take the Porsche.
-Elko's Diner anyone?
-Pregnant Connor, not what I expected today...
-For a place that is obsessed with Superman, they sure seem to have a lot of Kryptonite.
-Zadira is really out here to ruin everyone's day. I get it. The prophecy will happen and whatnot, but at least give Kori some credit for helping Rachel. The world would have ended two seasons ago.
-Not Connor bringing up Hank, bruh.
-Gar turning into a virus is such callback to Teen Titans. I love how they are showing all the different ways Gar can transform this season.
-Don't kill me, but I actually really like the friendship between Dick and Jinx. They should have not made Jinx another one of Dick's ex's, I will die on this hill. They have such a good dynamic and he clearly likes her enough to trust her with his friend's lives, so why make her an ex???
-Mother Mayhem sacrificing her one friend was dark. Even worse was Gina knew she would be the sacrifice. This season if full of chaos and I'm living for it.
-"Figure it out, we always do." Not Gar quoting Dick, my heart can't handle this.
-Side note: I love how Titans is real about injuries and death on this show. In comics and animated shows, there's this weird immunity to the heroes and there isn't any real consequences. But Titans is really upfront about it.
-"Casting a spell?" "No, praying." Jinx is so real for this lol.
-TIM HAD HIS MOMENT!! I was hoping he'd get to do something and I'm glad it was to save Bernard.
- "It's about the snacks." Honestly, Rachel got a point. The team is full of snacks ;).
-Rachel's interaction with Sebastian is beyond wholesome. She has healed so much over the years and I'm happy for her, even thought I know it will only last for a little while...
-"He will bring the end of days." Zadira, we been known this. Just let them have some happiness for a hot second. Thanks.
The vision...
I-
I know Zadira is doing what is right to maintain harmony, but we cannot ignore that she literally threw Kori's potential future in her face. There's low, but Zadira got lower than low. She's halfway to seeing Trigon at how low she just acted.
The continuation of Dick's vision merging with Kori's was everything. I expected this show to ruin me. But hot damn, I'm a mess. A big hot pile of melted mess over here!!!!
The birthday party, the looks, the touches, the familiarity with one another. The warmth the clarity, EVERYTHING. They even made the fucking scene have light!!!!! Pure. Golden. Light.
And then, poof! it's gone.
Fucking pulled away and then back to reality.
A very harsh reality may I add.
Zadira better pray she never meets me.
The after math...
Listen, I'm not surprised Sebastian gave himself up. He's been with the Titans for a few days and that is long enough for Dick's self-sacrificing attitude to rub off on some people. It's was also enough time for Sebastian to have real exposure to what a family is. At this point we aren't too aware of Sebastian's background, but in 4x06 his entire identity make a whole lot more sense.
4x06
Oh lord above, what in God's name did I just watch?!
I'm literally rewatching this episode to get a better scope of what I watched a week ago and honestly, I'm still flabbergasted at everything and everyone.
Buckle up, friends. Let's deep dive.
Kori and Rachel return without Sebastian
-The ride in the car before they get back to Star labs is probably one of the most important conversations pertaining to Dickkory all season.
-Rachel is asking the real questions:
"Has Dick told you before?"
"No, he hasn't".
Rachel is a true queen for keeping Dick's vision a secrete until the right moment. I can't imagine seeing those two flirt all day long and keep that vital piece of information to myself.
-The look on Dick's face when he asks Kori and Rachel where Sebastian was...I think he was genuinely afraid for the first time this entire season.
Connor's Persona Change
-Connor's attitude, I have never cringed so much in my life. Josh is playing the hell out of Connor this season and his switch from "Superboy" to "Lexiboy" has given me whiplash (I will be sending Titans' my medical bills).
-Connor's behavior towards Dick is something in itself. Dick's reaction to Conor's attitude is so restraint. There is no person on this earth that has the patience Dick Grayson has with Connor Kent. My inner hispanic woman would have slapped that boy the first chance he gave me an attitude. But alas, Dick is probably a better person than I.
-Also, does anyone else find the irony that Connor shaved his head with the powers Superman gave him? Lex has had a grudge against Superman for many reasons, but his loss of hair was always number 1 on that list. And seeing Connor using his heat vision to shave his head was a full circle moment.
-Does Connor give you guys big Jason vibes? His language and mannerisms remind me of pre Red Hood Jason. From the woe is me attitude to the cockiness, all reminiscent of Jason Todd. I get that it's "supposed" to be his Luther side coming out, but they killed Lex off too soon for us to really get a feel for his character. So it's difficult to determine if Lex was this way for sure.
-Dick preferring to be called Dick was funny.
The Plan
-Listen, Jinx's plan was okay. I never had full faith that they could pull it off, but it was a great starting point. Sometimes the Titans put all of their marbles into one jar before looking at alternative methods. This is why they typically don't do well the first time and end up losing (foreshadowing).
-Connor's plan was not terrible either, but also not a solution. Mostly a band-aid on a bullet wound.
-I think if they had more time, they would have come up with something better to suit their situation and work better together.
Moving on...
-Rachel ate Jinx's hair.
I-
Sometimes I cannot tell if Jinx is pulling our leg or not; she has such a sarcastic attitude that most of the time I'm like, okay, she's joking again. But then no, it's not a joke.
-I'm glad Jinx pointed out that Rachel could still access her powers if she wanted to. I think it's helpful there is someone else there who has an understanding of magic and can help her rekindle her loss of powers.
Mother Mayhem and Sebastian
-We've seen plenty of toxic relationships all throughout Titans and honestly, Mother Mayhem may take the cake (Rachel's mother, Angela or "Arella" still holds the crown after her betrayal in season 1/Season 2).
-Showing Sebastian all of his past relationships with figures that were meant to either guide him or love him was horrible. This kid has been traumatized since day one and his mother is making him relive all of it. This man is so fragile, and I'll admit, bringing up the past is such a smart move to get him to drink the blood. But damn, dark as hell.
Gar's Visions
-This was such a HUGE moment in the episode. I'm glad Kori has always been so aware of everyone on the team and how they're doing. Right away she knew Gar was not fine and needed her, but he brushes her off and leaves anyway.
-I think it's interesting how Gar was a few seconds ahead of his interaction with Connor. I wonder if that is his visions showing him the future, or is it the universe already altering from Mother Mayhem's disturbances?
-Let's discuss Gar's interaction with the skin-walker:
"When the towers break, take yourself to the Red."
"It depends on you, Garfield Logan."
This reminds me of how animals always sense when bad things happen before they do. And I'm really excited to see how Gar is going to be the key to fixing this hot mess the Titans are now involved in. But I wonder where the "Red" will take him? Is it an alternate dimension? Is it the past where he can stop all of this? what is it?!
Back at the lab...
I've loved Connor Kent since season 2, but this boy is really grinding my gears!
"Take the win."
"This isn't my dark side."
-Connor, for the love that is all holy, shut up. Like why is it necessary to be a raging prick? Dick understand that he's changing, whether that be for the better or not, but Connor needs to understand that he cannot just go from zero to hundred. It is not safe for him!
-What I really love about Dick's growth as a character is how he doesn't give up on Connor and still includes him to still help the team with their plan. Even thought his attitude sucks right now, Dick still invited him to help bring Sebastian back.
-Connor has now entered dangerous irrational territory. Going after Mother Mayhem all on his own knowing well enough magic and Super powers will not help him really put the Titans in a bad position.
Side note: I find it hilarious that Joseph Morgan always has blood somehow incorporated into his roles. Klaus would be proud of him.
The date scene...
-Oh, my heart absolutely broke for Sebastian here. This girl deadass pointed out that he's lonely as hell. Girl, you're lucky he didn't smite you sooner. But the gift she gave him was so thoughtful (and honestly, very nostalgic for me), but he really assumed their relationship would fail due to his own insecurities and always being let down by others. I wish he had more time with Rachel and the Titans to know they would have his back.
Kori's Powers...
-Her powers are now unstable and now just another thing on the list of things Dick has no idea about. Who knows how bad this will go in future episodes...
Jinx and Dick...
-Listen, I know, I know this is problematic (and I ain't trying to start any fights here, so please don't) but like I stated earlier, I do like this pairs dynamic platonically. Clearly Jinx has some unresolved issues regarding Dick. That was made abundantly clear when Dick told her she earned her money and how she reacted to his kindness. Dick really is such a sucker for certain people and I can see why he had shared moments with Jinx in the past. But their relationship seems to give off sibling vibes that people need to chill just a bit on the hate towards the actress. Hell, I would personally ship myself with that gorgeous man, who wouldn't?
Anyways...Moving on.
Connor, Connor, Connor. What are we going to do with you?
-This man straight up thought he could take on Mother Mayhem all on his own? After the first two encounters has he learned nothing? Even the Lex part of him has to know the probability of this not working in his favor.
-His actions have caused so many issues in such a small amount of time, can your imagine another 6 episodes of him acting this way??? Oh the damage that will be done.
-Mother Mayhem dissing Lex "He was SO EASY TO KILL" the volume in her voice lolz.
-When Jinx puts the mark on Rachel's forehead, it glows the same red Gar saw in his visions. I wonder if that mens he'll end up somewhere with Rachel or in Azarath?
Dick and Kori
"To hell to prophecies, destinies, and visions" If I had a dollar for the amount of times this man has put his foot in his mouth this entire series...I'd have enough money to save Stargirl. Richard John Grayson, do you have eyes? or are you blind to the obvious?! (Which we all know he is). But really, these last few years and have you learned nothing?! You're literally in love with an alien a fucking alien princess from another planet and you cannot wrap your head around visions?!
The look on Dick's face when Kori brings up their shared vision?! I will always say this: Brenton is so good at showing so many emotions with his eyes. You can see the guilt eating at him and the emotional overload he's feeling due to the vision.
And the soft way Kori recants the vision created this bubble around them that felt untouchable:
"You and me and a little girl with a red balloon."
Kori is such a strong person and the tone she uses with Dick when describing the vision has haunted me for days. She speaks so softly. It's like she was afraid to speak louder in fear she would scare Dick away. That she was afraid Dick would be dismissive and act like it wasn't real.
But when she asked him why he never said anything, his response: "I don't know." confirmed all Kori needed to know. It burst their small bubble to the reality that Dick hadn't wanted to disclosed this information to her.
I know there is some upset to Dick's reaction. But we need to be honest here. How would you feel if the person you saw as a partner for the last few years, someone you share a close bond with who has your back as much as they have your's is the future mother to your child? Dick has played the hypothetical game before where he has a life and a family but then it ends up a shitty mess (granted that was Trigon's doing, but it's a valid point). Dick has never had a stable relationship in his life and now all of a sudden, the one person who has been his literal partner in crime is someone he will be tied to forever because of that little girl with the red balloon.
That's a lot to take in. And another point to make, he literally had to die to see that vision. That in itself should be enough evidence that he still needs time to process his vision.
But I also need to say that Dick probably would have not brought it up to Kori, that I am certain of it. And I know deep down Kori knows that as well, and I think that is why she is so upset about the entire situation too.
"To hell with visions."
Although it was a small sentence, Kori knew it would hurt Dick the most. I think this is the first time we really see them acknowledge the change in their dynamic and unfortunately, its at a bad time and not on a positive foot.
The End
I think we were all rooting for the Titans at the end. They get there just in time to stop Sebastian from drinking the blood and finishing the ritual.
-We see Gar bust in as an ape causing chaos. We have Starfire kicking ass. Dick waltz in like he owns the place. There was so much unity happening that for a moment there was hope.
-Gar was able to break the jewel and get Raven's powers back and now she's White Raven!!!! I knew it would happen from previous media, but seeing it was so cool. She was absolutely glowing and I hope we can see her costume better later on in the season cuz from just the brief glimpse, I'm sold.
-Jinx dying was not on my bingo card. But there was something about her death that leaves me unsettled. As she falls to the ground you hear her say "Not again." So does that mean she has previously died and came back? Also, I feel like Jinx would have had a better control over Mother Mayhem, we've seen it before when she controlled the Zombies. I think Jinx is going to betray the Titans in the end and she's using Dick.
-Connor is completely out for the count, homeboy is just sitting there tied up.
-Kori and Rachel teaming up to go after Mother Mayhem was epic. But I am concerned for Kori and her powers. You can see her powers were overwhelming not only her, but you can also see it on Dick's face as well. He felt the energy pouring from her and it makes me concerned that she will end up dead in the end trying to save everyone in the final battle.
-I really feel for Tim at the end. Connor brought up earlier that Tim is completely useless. And I love Tim, but he still has a lot of learning to do and I feel sad that he failed on his part to get Sebastian to back down and leave the cult behind. I know that there will be aftermath to this situation.
Lastly,
Sebastian takes his place and it was epic. The moment he becomes Brother Blood and uses his powers to erase the Titans, such a power move. Then he descends into the bubbling spring of blood completely submerging himself? That's some next level shit. I don't know where we're going to end up in a few weeks when the show comes back, a lot of us are hypothesizing that they'll be in an alternate reality of some sort, especially based off the episode titles. But I hope we get a release date soon for pt 2.
Until then, let me know what you think!
