The waitress arrived at our table, a voluptuous woman of dark skin whose head tossed of earthly wild kinky curls. She had her worn down paper pad at the ready, stubby pencil on its surface.
Her smile wide and genuine, she spoke in a warmly sassed voice from a land known for peaches that ripened in dewy morning sunlight, which when picked, were then sliced and soaked in forbidden jars that were sipped on summer nights on the back porch in secret, lest the church find out. Her motherly brown eyes fell on me first. “What would you like for breakfast, honey?”
I looked to her and returned her welcoming expression, “I would like fresh cinnamon raisin toast, served in a bowl, soaked with a rich peanut butter sauce, alongside a strawberry compote.” I stated, “May I also have three ounces of your chef’s choice of liquor added to a tall frosty glass of chocolate milk please?” My request complete, I playfully ignored my table mates’ groans of disapproval, looks of concerned confusion, and eyes rolled in sarcastic acceptance of my public behavior.

The woman from the southland’s warmth did not falter, however her arms fell slowly and her hands clasped at the front of her well-worn apron. Her eyes flooded with loving concern, and she bowed a little closer towards me. “Dear, sweet child of the wood…the glorious sun blesses you with a lovely day, the clouds are nowhere to be found, and the breeze is jaunty. So I must ask, on all days, why do you crave such violence?”

“Uhh, not…no, I haven’t.” I started, leaning forward and closing the door, somewhat mashing myself between it and the frame, “But uh, crazy idea, you’re always saying you’re looking for Jesus, right? Like…it’s been what, decades? Centuries? Of this, uh, ‘savior hunt’?” I asked, my tone genuinely curious.
The group blinked, blank-faced. I continued, “Well, you ever just think, maybe…he doesn’t want to be found? Like just for a hypothetical, maybe he wants to hang back and see if you guys…can stand on your own feet, be independent of him and his graces, like he died for your sins and all that, yeah, but now it’s…uh, your turn? You need to…get out of the proverbial nest and not…rely on him?”
There was a silence as they pondered what I’d said, they exchanged glances and looked a tad bewildered at the idea. Finally the woman with the blonde beehive spoke, “That…that’s an idea…” before she slowly turned and wandered away, her entourage slowly following in suit and disappearing from the porch and down the street.
I let out a slow sigh of relief and shut the door, looking at my robed guest, “Well, that went nicely.” I shrugged.
You open your door to find some religious looking people standing there. “Have you found our lord and savior, Jesus Christ?” You glance behind your door, where Jesus is shushing you.

ABSOLUTELY NO ONE ASKED FOR MORE RB BATTLES / TMA AU CONTENT BUT IT HASN’T LEFT MY HEAD SO HERE WE ARE :)
Seriously though, I’ve fallen in love with this AU and I don’t even intend to listen to The Magnus Archives in full. But FTA and other AU content fuels me so I HAD to draw more of it. Enjoy, and feel free to ask for more context :)
also I might remove the Collective plot,,,maybe idk
(Character descriptions under the cut, since I know they’re hard to read)
WELCOME TO THE ROBLOXIAN PARANORMAL INSTITUTE! (Aka, the RB institute for short. A bunch of AU doodles.)
(From left to right, top to bottom)
POKE ‘ZACHARY’ DIGER: Where has he gone?
NOT-POKE: Aka, the Not-Them! Totally Poke. Totally :)
DEEJAY MONOPOLI: When he’s not hunting monsters. Also technically Russo’s bodyguard.
TANQR TITANIUM: Murderous! That’s not a good thing.
LEGO P.G.H.L FILMS - HUNT!LEGO: Just a normal teenager. Sooooo normal. Yeah, he’s not normal.
SABRINA BRITE: Web ::( Evil lady?
PRESTON PLAYZ: Desolation :)
BOOSHOT MISTR: Hunt!
JAY-BEE BOLTER: The Web?
CREEP + SPIN HEADPHONE: Buried + Slaughter. The family that slays together stays together.
JUSTIN ‘THINK’ NOODLES: Ex-Archival Staff. Also, Zombies!
PINK LEAF: Tried to cheat death. Death punished him for it.
(Both of these two are associated with the End. (TYPO: END, NOT THE EYE, WHOOPS)
OMINOUS NEBULA: Yes, he’s Night-Foxx’s brother.
ASHLEY UNICORN: Marked by the Buried.
DYLAN ‘HYPER’ PLAYS: The ‘Hyper’ stands for hyperventilating.
TIMOTHY ‘TIMMEH’ EIRL: Actually, John Doe’s possessed him. I’m not making a child a major villain.
CHIZELED FLOCK: Avatar of the Lonely. Also joins the Collective.
NIGHT-FOXX NEBULA: Space induced depression!
RUSSO TALKS: Also the Big Bad. Horrible, evil >:(
KREEK CRAFT / ‘THE ARCHIVIST’: Our protagonist. You wanna get some trauma?
DAN T.D. MINECART: DanTDM must make a cameo, my name is literally YanDan
DENIS DAILY: Lost his ability to feel fear. Whoops.
BELLA CINDER: Forced into the Collective. Maybe next time don’t take deals from children.

2025 trailers to look forward to
Maybe it seems superficial to use movies as an excuse to keep going when things look so bleak, but whatever works, right?
Back in Action: Cameron Diaz returns to team up with Jamie Foxx as a married couple getting sucked back into the CIA. I will be watching this.
The Unbreakable Boy: True story about a little boy (Jacob Laval) with autism and brittle bone disease. Look, I hate Zachary Levi ( who plays the dad) now, but the little boy is so adorable (he was great as Seldon in The Plot Against America).
Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy: As much as I'm bummed that they killed off our beloved Mark Darcy, this still looks good. I just hope they don't have Bridget end up with Cleaver after all..
The Amateur: Rami Malek decides to avenge his wife's murder.
The Bad Guys 2: Never saw the first one, probably won't see this.
How to Train Your Dragon (live action): We probably don't need this. However, I applaud Gerard Butler for reprising his role as the dad, and Toothless looks pretty good!
Lilo and Stitch (live action): Again, live-action Stitch looks pretty good! It's just a shame Disney have him crash mock-trailers of all the other Disney live-action cartoons. I guess even they have their limits for remaking everything, huh?
Mission Impossible: Final Reckoning: Will this really be the final one, or are they trolling us?

🎤Full Cast narration by Sebastian York, Penelope Rose, Zachary Johnson, Winston James, AM Elizabeth Kay, Victor Quixabas & Aryann Michele
Listen to this why choose, hockey romcom now:
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐“This sextet-style narration is a movie in your ears. Absolute perfection as the narrators nailed the characters. 5/5 stars for this full cast!” - Linda, Bookbub
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐“This wonderful, low angst, high steam romance has the perfect balance of charm, witty dialogue and humor, heartfelt emotions and sizzling love scenes.” - Bette, Bookbub
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐“Listening to this on audio was such a fun experience. Duet style is my favorite style, but when you add in such a talented full cast of narrators, it just elevates the entertainment factor. The banter and fun scenes just hit differently when the narrators put so much emotion into their performances and this is a prime example of that.” - Crystal, Bookbub
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐“Holy moly…what an amazing love story between four people who are so different.  There are so many laughs, tender moments and smoking hot passion! … So glad I took a chance on this.” - Kirstie, Goodreads

A woman loses her phone on her way back to her countryside childhood home. Once there, she connects an old landline in hopes of finding her lost mobile, only to start receiving weird calls that seem to be from 20 years ago.
On the other side of the receiver is a girl who seems to be in danger. The Call is thrilling, sometimes scary, but also brilliantly shot, and its plot is so expertly woven. It’s a proper movie-night movie.
Apollo 10½: A Space Age Childhood (2022)
Genre: Adventure, Animation, Comedy, Drama, Family, History, Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Science Fiction
Actor: Bill Wise, Brian Villalobos, Buzz Aldrin, David DeLao, Glen Powell, Holt Boggs, Jack Black, Janis Joplin, Jennifer Griffin, Jessica Brynn Cohen, John F. Kennedy, Josh Wiggins, Keslee Blalock, Larry Jack Dotson, Lee Eddy, Milo Coy, Mona Lee Fultz, Neil Armstrong, Nick Stevenson, Richard Nixon, Samuel Davis, Walter Cronkite, Zachary Levi
Director: Richard Linklater
Rating: PG-13
Tumblr media
Narrated by the familiar voice of Jack Black, Apollo 10 ½ is a throwback story told with admirable specificity and imagination. Black plays a grown-up Stan, who looks back on his younger years with a mix of fondness and wonder: how did they get away with the things they did then? American suburbia in the 1960s was both loose and conservative, caught between a generation holding on to the reins of the earlier century and one eager to launch into the next.
Stan, as the youngest child of a big, rowdy family, gives us a charming look into the times, as well as a projection of his own fascination: Apollo 11 and the space age. He inserts himself in this monumental narrative and generously brings us along in his fantasy. Sometimes it’s hard to tell whether Stan’s recruitment by NASA is actually fact or fiction, but that’s part of the fun, especially since Stan himself doesn’t seem to mind at all.
They Cloned Tyrone (2023)
Genre: Action, Comedy, Mystery, Science Fiction
Actor: Adam Cronan, Al-Teron, Austin Freeman, Charity Jordan, David Alan Grier, David Shae, J. Alphonse Nicholson, Jamie Foxx, Jason Burkey, Jason Louder, John Boyega, Joshua Mikel, Kiefer Sutherland, Leon Lamar, Megan Sousa, Ryan Dinning, Shariff Earp, Swift Rice, Tamberla Perry, Teyonah Parris, Trayce Malachi
Director: Juel Taylor
Rating: R

They Cloned Tyrone is a genre-bending gem. It combines Deep State conspiracy theories with sci-fi and social commentary, all while looking like a futuristic 1970s Blaxploitation film. It’s outrageous good fun and pleasing to look at (here is a film that knows how to properly light Black actors), but there are times when it feels too far fetched. The science can get wonky and its commentary on gentrification lacking, but all is forgiven when you have such a strong trio of leads. One of the smartest things They Cloned Tyrone does is pair Boyega with Teyonah Parris, who plays the call girl Yo-yo, and Jamie Foxx, who plays the pimp Slick Charles. They have a fun-loving no-nonsense chemistry about them that makes them easy to attach to and root for. They’re also just very funny, which might be expected of Foxx but it comes as a pleasant surprise for Parris, whose popular turns in Mad Men and WandaVision prove that she’s been severely underutilized as a comic.
Snowpiercer (2014)
Genre: Action, Drama, Mystery, Science Fiction
Actor: Adnan Haskovic, Alison Pill, Chris Evans, Clark Middleton, Dana Green, Ed Harris, Emma Levie, Ewen Bremner, Go Ah-sung, Griffin Seymour, Jamie Bell, Jim High, John Hurt, Joseph Bertót, Kendrick Roger Ong, Kenny Doughty, Ko A-sung, Ko Asung, Luke Pasqualino, Luna Sophia Bar-Cohen, Magda Weigertová, Marcanthonee Reis, Octavia Spencer, Parry Shen, Paul Lazar, Peter Hallin, Robert Russell, Sean Connor Renwick, Song Kang-ho, Stephen Park, Steve Park, Tilda Swinton, Tomáš Dianiška, Tómas Lemarquis, Tyler John Williams, Vlad Ivanov
Director: Bong Joon-ho
Rating: R

Snowpiercer is an under-the-rader post-apocalyptic thriller that offers the grittiness that many times only Asian cinema may achieve. South Korean director Joon-ho Bong forces audiences to forget that Chris Evans was ever a Marvel superhero, as he leads a revolt of his fellow “low-class” citizens against the self-appointed gentry in a train that contains all remaining members of the planet. With immersive environments and a layered script, this film melds together social commentary and moral discourse in a visually arresting and vastly entertaining package.
Okja (2017)
Genre: Action, Adventure, Drama, Fantasy, Science Fiction
Actor: Ahn Seo-hyun, Ahn Seong-bong, Amber Snow, An Seo Hyun, Andreas Fronk, Ann Evans, Barbara Wallace, Bettina Skye, Boyd Ferguson, Byun Hee-bong, Byun Heebong, Carl Montoya, Cho Wan-ki, Choi Hee-seo, Choi Woo-shik, Colm Hill, Cory Gruter-Andrew, Daniel Henshall, David Bloom, Devon Bostick, Eha Urbsalu, Erik De Boer, Faith Logan, Giancarlo Esposito, Han Yi-jin, J. C. Williams, Jake Gyllenhaal, Jamar Greene, Kathryn Kirkpatrick, Kim Chul-moo, Kim Moon-hak, Kristoffe Brodeur, Kwak Jin-seok, Kyul Hwi, Lee Bong-ryeon, Lee Jung-eun, Lena Avgust, Lily Collins, Lynn Marocola, Martin Lo Rimorin, Michael D. Joseph, Michael Mitton, Milo Shandel, Myles Humphus, Nancy Amelia Bell, Niall Cunningham, Park Jeong-gi, Park Keun-rok, Paul Dano, Pavla Tan, Phillip Garcia, Rebecca Husain, Rickland Powell, Seo-Hyun Ahn, Shirley Henderson, Steven Garr, Steven Yeun, Tilda Swinton, Waris Ahluwalia, Woo Shik Choi, Yoon Je Moon, Yoon Kyung-ho
Director: Bong Joon-ho, Joon-ho Bong
Rating: TV-MA

Director Bong Joon-ho (Snowpiercer) does something quite amazing with the $50 million budget Netflix gave him: he makes a simplistic movie. But man, is it good. Okja tells the story of a “super pig” experiment that sends genetically modified pigs to top farmers around the world. In Korea, a farmer’s granddaughter forms a special relationship with one of these super pigs (Okja). When the company who originally ran the experiment want their pig back (performances by Jake Gyllenhaal and Tilda Swinton) – the two find an ally in an animal advocacy group led by Jay (Paul Dano). This is a straightforward movie, but nevertheless it is entertaining and full of thought-provoking themes and performances from an excellent cast.

From what I recall in the early internet, in the days of “XYZ ate my balls”, there was a complete archive of Barney horror stories, and this wasn’t even on fanfiction.net it was either a single author or a collection of different stories.
They were written *really* well, one went so far as to contain mass brainwashing of children, body horror, tons of violence, gore, and what is now better defined as “trigger-matter” (I just came up with the term, it seems to fit, use it as a neutral-charged word for “psychologically sensitive topic”) with Barney and his dinosaur friends all being the antagonizing monsters of the stories.
As was written on the site, “concerned parent groups” (AKA parents who will do anything but supervise their children) tried to get the content taken down, and thankfully failed. I want to say one of the stories was called “Day of the Bharni”, and I remember reading all of the stories several times over the years.
Disgusting, horrifying, brutal, and just…just great shit.
But like, that happens with everything that gets stupid popular with children which is also annoying. I’m without a doubt certain there is hate-fiction of Elsa from Frozen, Elmo from Sesame Street, and most definitely TOWERS of it on Caillou, and I’d stake my left nut that it was written by the parents themselves. No one hates that nightmare of a Charlie Brown reject more than parents.
So yeah, in summary, Barney is a perfect example of “love to hate” subject matter, and it’s almost a natural reaction to do so. Plus, it was the fucking 90’s, that decade was…unhinged.
Fans of Urban Fantasy/Horror Settings:
What supernatural bullshit was behind that time in the 90s when everyone on earth unanimously decided they murderously hated Barney The Dinosaur, the fictional purple T-Rex, for no clear reason whatsoever?
Like, I was one of them, and I don't even know why it happened.
There was clearly some kind of global ritual or something happening there, right?
