You were small, much smaller than him, he loved it. You fit wonderfully next to him, you were the love of his life. Your hand slid into his, walking along the sidewalk. Fingers laced and your free hand gripped his arm, holding him close. He was your safe place, if anything went wrong, he was there.

"Ramattra."

"Hm?"

You leaned your head against him, words were easier when they came out on a page not out of your mouth.

"I apologise, I know I'm a lot to handle."

There was a lot of things he could say, instead he gripped your hand a little tighter and pressed his faceplate to your head, a small kiss to remind you. You are his everything.

Gundam character march madness has begun... why pit two queens against each other?

Having finished six Gundam shows, including Gundam's original trilogy (0079, Zeta, ZZ) and with GQuuuuuuX on the horizon, I've been thinking a lot about what I think Gundam is really about. I've talked before about Gundam being a story about loneliness and finding a place where you can belong, but I think there's a third thematic throughline that pervades throughout every show.

Survival.

In the shows I've watched so far, each story is about people thrust into conflicts they didn't start nor fully understand and having to do their best to get through it without dying or losing themselves to the madness of it all. These characters rarely have that much power to change the world around them and can only hope that their actions may one day lead to a future where they and their descendants don't have to fight.

To me, compared to similar franchises like Star Wars, Gundam stories are generally less about creating a better future and more about not losing hope in one. As a kid who's had to come into adulthood in the 20-fucking-20s, I find endings like IBO's and ZZ's a lot more relatable and even kinda needed in this day and age. Sometimes, the world just refuses to really get any better and the best you can manage is to survive it with the people you love.

These shows have honestly helped me cope with a lot of the...everything that's happened this year and I can't thank them enough.

Each day he spent more and more time watching you, keeping his optics on you just in the slightest chance that you needed some sort of assistance. Ramattra wanted you, he craved to feel your lips against the metal of his faceplate, to feel the heat from your breath as he thrusted deeper into you.

"Ramattra? Could you help me with the-"

Before you could finish your sentence he had your papers in the printer, either he just knew or had a crazy sense.

"Oh, um thank you."

"I.. I am sorry for being so sudden. I simply have.."

He couldn't finish his sentence, he was ashamed of himself ashamed of being so obsessed with a person who barely knew he existed.

"You simply have?"

"I.."

"Are you embarrassed?"

"Perhaps but even so, I helped you with what you needed. Is that it?"

"Actually I wanted to ask something else."

He stood straighter, his turtle neck sweater seeming to fit him perfectly tho moments before it seemed a size too large.

"That would be?"

You smiled, batting your eye lashes a bit just to see his reaction. He was so shy, it was too cute to see him become embarrased.

“I wanted to know if perhaps you wanted to go out, for coffee and a walk through the city?”

The omnic froze, you.. You wanted to go out on a date with him?

“Well? Don’t just stare at me, I’ll think you don’t like me.”

“I- Yes! Yes I would love to go on a date with you.”

The smile you gave him nearly made him rust in his place, he could have stood there for eternity staring at you, you were beautiful.
