New Tseng Headcanons!!

Tseng being a smug villain about blowing up the Sector 7 support pillar and dooming thousands to death, but also holding on to Aerith's letters for Zack because he can't bear to throw them away, which would be tantamount to admitting Zack is really gone. He's complicated.

Tseng can see the Whispers but is gaslighting Rufus about it to amuse himself

this is because Tseng is all ice-cold badass on the surface (like it's a matter of legend that he may have ever smiled once) but he's an absolute menace and he's secretly clowning everyone

it was him who stuck gum on the bottom of all of Reno's shoes

it was him who replaced Elena's bullets with blanks that one time so she thought she was a terrible shot for a whole day

it was him who anonymously circulated those embarrassing photos of Rude when he had his MC Hammer phase as a teen (Rude was not embarrassed in the least and maintains that he looked cool in parachute pants, with a flat-top fade)

it was him who threw a red scarf in with Rufus' laundry when they were in Junon and it was the only suit he brought, so he had to do a press conference in bright pink

it was him who taught Darkstar to bark wildly whenever Scarlet says the word "boring" or Hojo says the word "fascinating"

Tseng actually laughs really easily and has a very childish sense of humor. a lot of the times that he's being all silent and stoic and mysterious, it's because he literally has to bite his tongue to stop himself laughing at some stupid shit, and he can't talk while he's doing that

no one but Tseng's mother has ever actually heard him laugh (like really laugh not the villain laugh he does when he's making a theatrical scene about some evil shit he's up to)

Tseng smokes when he's stressed. no one in the fucking world knows about it and they never will. there is never even a molecule of lingering scent on him ever. the lengths he has to go to in order to accomplish this are….excessive, since no one would give a shit if they knew he smoked. he just doesn't like anyone knowing anything about him

on that note, no one knows where he actually lives. he keeps multiple dummy addresses on file with Shinra to throw the HR people off. the other Turks can't even figure it out because he always spots them when they try to tail him. like from 200 yards that asshole is supernatural or something

he considered Zack his best friend because they had several missions together and exchanged multiple sentences outside of work, due to their both caring for Aerith. it destroyed him that he failed to save Zack and he became even more cold, detached, and emotionally unavailable because of it. no one ever noticed any of this because he's a goddamn pro

he's a huge dorky ridiculous Vincent Valentine fangirl and the secret president of the (admittedly very small) fan club

the fan club is called the TV Club, as in Turk Valentine, because that makes it sound like boring nerd shit that no one would be curious about if it happened to come up somehow

most of the TV Club members are retired Shinra employees who had crushes on Vincent back in the day, before he disappeared. the conspiracy theories regarding him being alive rival those of the famous Elvis truthers, and some of them get weirdly close to the real facts (those ones ironically are the most laughed at and least believed theories)

there is some very well written but anonymous reader-insert Rookie Turk x Agent Valentine fanfic on their message board, but no one can prove who wrote it

Veld is also in the fan club

so is Sephiroth for reasons currently unknown

people say Tseng's Turk Valentine cosplay is absolutely stunning (mostly because he's also beautiful, black-haired, and Wutaian) but they have no idea how how very much painstakingly historically accurate detail is in it. he had the suit custom tailored from a vintage midnight-blue worsted wool fabric that he had to hunt down because it's not in production anymore

he actually checked Vincent's old service sidearm out of the Shinra armory on supposed official Turk business to go with the costume even though everyone thought it was a replica, because real weapons are not allowed at the convention center. he knew. that was enough.

he wore the costume for the office halloween party, one year, but everyone at work just thought he got a new suit. Reno almost had a brain aneurysm over even that much, though, so it's probably for the best that they didn't notice.

however, the fact that they didn't notice the very obvious blood-red contact lenses made him deeply worried for the future of the Turks. everyone was required to attend remedial espionage training the next week, much to their bitching and moaning

genesis is left in charge for the day. on a scale of one to nibelheim, how quickly does everything fall apart?

Within four hours of Genesis being left in charge:

• He switches everyone's missions for shits and giggles. Sephiroth is sent to Modeoheim in the middle of a blizzard.

• Genesis allows the SOLDIERs to wear whatever they want. Uniforms are optional for the day. Fuck it, clothes are optional for the day! This causes half the SOLDIERs to come in wearing ridiculously gaudy costumes and outfits. Roche is wearing a jumpsuit with flames. Zack is in full Sephiroth cosplay.

• He disregards the training room's schedule and refuses to settle any disputes over who gets to use it next. Now that wing is pure chaos as people fight to the death to win the training room.

• Genesis assigns Zack to the task of sitting still for the day. He must do nothing but report to one designated place and sit there doing nothing all day. Zack is seen slowly rocking back and forth in the lounge. He's slowly going crazy.

• Angeal tries to reason with him after he encourages the entire third class to practice with fire materia at random places throughout the building.

Genesis: Oh yeah! I'm in charge, and that means I can order you to do whatever I want.

Angeal: Nice try, but I can refuse missions, remember?

Genesis: I'm banning plants of any and all kind from this floor :)

Angeal: What?

Genesis: You heard me! I think the large quantity of plants in your office is the cause for all these bugs.

• Sephiroth comes back from his Modeoheim mission. His nose is running, cheeks are red and he's bundled in extra layers.

Sephiroth: You lied to me. There was no mission in Modeoheim.

Genesis: No, but now that you're back, I changed the rules regarding the First Class uniform. Now everyone is required to wear a shirt.

• Sephiroth loses it and slams Genesis' head into the glass wall.

• The SOLDIER floor is decorated in reds and purples. There's Loveless posters everywhere and a statue of Genesis in the middle of the hallway.

• Lazard is on his way back to the 49th floor after spending the whole day at a meeting in Junon. Needless to say, Lazard's blood pressure has been high the whole day. He steps off the elevator and sees the utter chaos his department has become.

• Sephiroth runs by him chasing Genesis with a piece of broken glass.

• Lazard notices Zack sitting in the corner, rocking back and forth with a silly grin on his face.

Lazard: Zack? Buddy? You okay?

Zack: Have you ever thought about murder, director?

Lazard: Oh my god.

Lookism Random Headcannons (Because why not?)

Read the recent chapter recently and I am excited about the King of Soul's entrance (if ever)

Daniel watches anime since he thinks it's more entertaining than dramas. At some point he also wanted to become a manga artist but quickly gave up on it. His favorite is probably the classics (Naruto, One Piece, One Punch Man, DBZ, and he also likes the recent ones.)

Zack and Johan used to watch WWE matches together while Mira scolds them that they scream too loud when they're watching Royal Rumble lmao.

Undertaker was Johan's favorite WWE wrestler but thinking about it makes Johan embarrassed since he doesn't want to be seen as an edge lord or "emo or a goth" lol. Zack Lee's favorites are probably Edge, Brock Lesnar, and Randy Orton (idk I watch a little bit of WWE in my free time don't blame me).

Since Jay lived mostly alone in his apartment for who knows how long, he was thought by his butler to cook his own food since he doesn't really want to depend on them fully and make them exhausted. (Plus he's mostly bored, so why not cook and bake?) He almost burned his apartment once trying to fry an egg at first.

Hudson might not admit it but he also binges anime like Daniel. He believes that Makima sucks and the ones who defends her are simps (I mean she's a well written antagonist but her personality is a no).

Goo Kim = Cat Girl/ Cat Boy enthusiast (likes wearing low-budgeted cosplays A LOT for his own entertainment).

Goo Kim had stolen Gun's credit cards for his own shopping spree. Not once, not twice, but MANY TIMES.

Samuel might not admit it but he actually likes Jake and Big Deal. He just keeps denying it because of his ego issues.

Jerry had once owned a winter dwarf pet hamster. He properly took care for it for like 2 years and named her Bisky. But since hamsters have short lifespans, it died later on and he cried and didn't sleep well the following days since he missed her deeply. The shrine of it is still staying still on his backyard and he mostly replaces the flowers everyday or i he's not busy to pay tribute to her.

Daniel wanted to learn how to play the guitar or a ukulele but since his mom was struggling with their budget he cannot ask her to buy him one.

Jay can play drums (and teaches Daniel when having sleep overs!)

Mary can play bass and a little bit of guitar. And she secretly listens to rock, metal, and the alternative style of music since she doesn't want to be teased as emo by Vin the asshole lmao.

Avril Lavigne is the reason why Mary dyed her hair blonde you can't change my mind (not forcing you but listen to her music IT'S SO GOOD). She would like to have a friend (if not a girl friend not a girlfriend) who shares the same music taste with her to start a band.

Zack and Vin Jin used to bully kids on Roblox to boost their ego (Zack stopped because of his character development but probably Vin still does it lol).

Younger Kouji had once ate lots of candies and sweets to be "smart like L" from Death Note but almost got diabetes.

Gun and DG wears lip balms to keep their lips plump and smooth. DG had once teased Gun about being a model while Gun just smirks about it.

Mira SECRETLY LIKES Ayesha Erotica's music because of the edits on TikTok but since it's mostly explicit she's refraining to add her compositions on her Spotify playlists.

Since Vasco is mostly hardworking, there are times that he passes the exams (with the help of Jace and other Burn Knuckle members). But he just cannot push himself more to pass the Mathematics exams.

Eli had once tried to kiss Warren after their fight because of his innocence and curiosity before all the Hostel Drama. (I personally don't ship them but I just feel like it's something past Eli would do). They both cringe when they both remember it.

Doo Lee was once a Twitter influencer but because of his past dramas he was cancelled in social media.

Jibeom accidentally smashed Jihan's face when they were little when they are trying to imitate WWE stunts. Jichang was surprised to see his little brother's teeth getting cracked and falling off and he just didn't cried (it was Jibeom who shed tears because of guilt lol).

Crystal is a big fan of "vintage-core" or everything around the older eras because she believes that it doesn't only represents the beauty and evolution of human pop-culture but it also represents history. She always won on auctions to buy antique stuff and mostly donate it on museums to preserve it's structure while she kept some on her room. She almost got canceled by bidding on an authentic Marilyn Monroe's lipstick but she later on posted on Twitter that she donated it on a museum (which is not a fake news).

Gun doesn't eat too much fast-food products because he believes it's unhealthy and has chemicals to make the customers' crave for more (Goo teases him about this by dramatically eating an order of a large McDonald's French Fries in front of his annoyed face).

Ryuhei never kissed a woman in his life because of his nervousness. He secretly was weirded out by it so he lies that he had slept with many women to not be bullied by other people.

Vasco doesn't know how to properly wear a watch and a belt (ngl same I'm that stupid). He also doesn't know how to tie his shoe lace.

Jace prefers dark-chocolate rather than milk or white chocolate. Because he believes that since it has more cocoa content it can boost more of his energy and sharpen his mind and focus especially when taking his exams and quizzes.

Sally's favorite color was purple as she planned to dye her hair with her color of choice with a mix of indigo. But since she's afraid that it won't suit her, she changed her plans and went on to dye her hair with strawberry pink. She didn't expected it to look magnificent on her since Warren complimented her, so after that her favorite color was switched to baby or strawberry pink.

Mitsuki thinks that K-Pop music is cringe but she secretly has BTS, Twice, and Blackpink on her Spotify playlists. Ryuhei found out about this and she was pissed off up until this day lol.

Doo Lee once had a girlfriend who uses him for the money. She later on cheated with a new "handsome and charming" guy and when Doo found out he was FURIOUS. He later on was captured on camera beating the dude and when people found out he was canceled again on social media (pretty privileges never ends). He later on begged Daniel and Duke to make an apology video for him which looks so weird and scripted since Doo was pushing them. But luckily the drama heated down.

Magami Kenta's favorite vape flavors are watermelon, strawberry, and coffee.

Joy is very talented and skilled with nail art and she sells her products in a decent price even if it's REALLY DETAILED and well-crafted.

Sinu Han is a COMIC BOY FAN. Whether it's DC Comics, Marvel Comics, or even manga he's going to buy it. He later on posted on Twitter about how Gojo shouldn't have died since he relates to him so much (he was later on bullied by Samuel that he sounds like a weeb lmao).

I'm just confused with Aerith really. She keeps saying that Cloud reminds her of Zack, but other than their uniforms, swords, and falling on the church things, Cloud and Zack are so different. Zack is definitely a people person, Cloud is quite the opposite. Zack treats Aerith like a queen, always looking forward to meet her in CCR. Then there's Cloud being so reluctant to spend time with her.. It's almost like Aerith will jump on anyone sane enough (not Roche) who's wearing soldier uniforms

She says she's searching for the real Cloud and she's interested in him now and yet she's forcing him to be Zack more in that date than in the whole time he's known her. When she gets him alone she manipulates him into being what she wants instead of helping him find who he truly is, and she does that after seeing him go full Sephiroth cosplay and almost kill her to get the black materia.

She's literally the most toxic influence in his life after Sephiroth.

Recently, I realized something... the only time I did cosplay in PSO2 before was when there was the NieR:Automata collab, I tried to make an accurate 9S. After that, I didn’t do anything, even when there were the collabs with Re:Zero, Dead or Alive 5, Persona. Cosplay/Phashion was definitely not one of my priorities when playing this game, for 8 years, even when I moved to Global.

So... this just goes to show that NGS is boring. To me, at least. I mean... sure, there is still PSO2, but it’s not the same (as before, and still different from JP) (it looks pretty bad with the new engine), and the customization system is pretty good for a game that does not focus on life simulation, even though the outfits don’t separate top, bottom and shoes. But the gameplay itself? Yes, it’s dynamic, which is pretty nice for a Phantasy Star game. But there is better elsewhere... Content-wise, you either get to everything quickly, or you don’t get them ever if you’re unlucky or not active enough. The updates are unfortunately too slow.

I used to play with a few people. I don’t anymore, because they left, more or less.

Anyway, there better be other planets soon. And an update that'll finally make use of the stuff laying around in Halphia Lake >:T

Man not only Sephiroth is the hot one. HIS BESTIES ARE ALSO HOT!!!!! Funny how the Genesis, Angeal and Sephiroth battle was my first ever contact to FF7, took me time to realise they're from a game not a movie lol

I saw Gackt in his full Genesis cosplay and I was in love. I think I saw a pic of him looking like he's singing IN THE FULL GENESIS GET-UP. Man was Gackt hot!!! I mean he's old now but he's still living good even though he passed his prime (still got the sexy Genesis jap voice btw, it's a thing for singers to have sexy voices)

I got into FF7 from when I played BBS on the PSP and met Zack as Aqua. I feel in love and got obsessed with him, leading me to CC specifically. Now, would you believe I was also a huge Genesis fan as a kid too? Haha.

Always thought Sephiroth was cool, but Genesis marked many boxes for kid me. Tall, auburn-haired, melodramatic guy into reading epics? Hell yes. And learning that he was based on a J-pop star only intensified my liking to him. I definitely was not listening to Gackt songs on repeat, haha.

I liked Angeal but saw him as a cool older brother, but in my adulthood I'm definitely feeling those dilf vibes. I actually wonder if he was conceptualized as Zack's father/brother originally, but changed to a thematic connection later on? You're right, the two bear a lot of similarity to each other, especially in appearance.

My first intro to Sephiroth was either KH or AC/Last Order. Not sure which came first, but I remembered how eerie he made me feel. Then in Advent Children, I was terrified. But I thought the Remnants were the coolest thing ever and wanted them to come back so bad.

I want to be a cute anime girl tells the story of a kid who likes dressing up as a girl and learns more about themselves along the way.

Reprinted from The Geekiary, my History Hermann WordPress post, and Wayback Machine. This was the twenty-eighth article I wrote for The Geekiary. This post was originally published on February 16, 2022. Also, this post has been slightly changed from the original.

I want to be a cute anime girl by Azul Crescent, an artist living in Myanmar, is a slice-of-life comedy. It centers around a kid who wants to "be a cute anime girl," her journey of self-discovery, her family, and friends.

As a warning, this review discusses some spoilers for I want to be a cute anime girl.

One day, Charon's big sister, Chelsie, gives a makeover, and she likes it so much that she decides she wants to be a cute anime girl. Her friends and sister, Chloe, are accepting even while finding it unexpected and surprising at first. Before her mom and dad accept her, Charon chooses the name "Cheryl," and her dad accepts her for who she is. The story then goes on from there.

I liked that Cheryl's dad realizes the signs that Cheryl wants to be a girl more directly that Cheryl's mom. It pushes away the "bad dad / good mom" trope, which is sometimes used in comics with LGBTQ themes. Obviously, the comic is about gender transition and being transgender, as Cheryl puts on makeup and clothing as part of becoming her real self, later using she/her pronouns. Later, Cheryl has a crisis of identity, wondering if people, especially those at her middle school, will accept her as Cheryl. She even has to deal with someone having a crush on her when she and her sister go to the mall.

A central theme of this all-ages comic is self-acceptance. You should accept yourself for who you are, even if that journey to self-discovery has bumps along the way. In this way, the comic is like Acception or even Cursed Princess Club, which have similar themes. This interconnected with the comic's emphasis on family togetherness, since Cheryl has a supportive family.

Not only does I want to be a cute anime girl have short and easy to read issues, but it is a refreshing take on transgender people. This includes the anxiety, such as Cheryl worrying over which bathroom to chose. For those are are comfortable with their gender, it's no big issue to choose between a men's bathroom and a women's bathroom. But if you are struggling with your gender identity, it can cause anxiety, as those bathrooms are divided along the male-female binary.

This anxiety happens alongside moments of self-empowerment, like preparing to introduce themselves as Cheryl to school. There is casual homophobia by one of Cheryl's classmates. Cheryl sets a date to meet a cute guy in her class, tries to become better friends with her classmate, Delilah, and is surprised when her friend Adrian says he has thought he wants to be an anime girl.

I liked how I want to be a cute anime girl shows Cheryl slowly coming out to her classmates, starting with her friend Zack. This isn't something like Kashimashi: Girl Meets Girl, where an alien announces to everyone that you are trans, and to respect your changed name and sex (after that alien changed your sex by accident).

I want to be a cute anime girl can be sweet, like the moments between Cheryl and Chelsie. They work on makeup together, talk about cosplaying, identity, being yourself, and Chelsie helps Cheryl with her quest for a more girly voice. There are nice moments between Cheryl, Chelsie, and Chloe as well. We learn more about Chelsie and Chloe, including Chelsie's ex-boyfriend, during a discussion about romance.

I want to be a cute anime girl also highlights the fact that trans allies will mess stuff up. An example is when Zack accidentally tells Stella, his lesbian friend, that Cheryl is trans without permission. Later on, Cheryl is a bit annoyed for Zack for doing that, but she also wants to hear what Stella had to say about her. This is not a new discussion. Some have pointed out that you will screw up as an ally, will be hurt, will learn from your mistakes, and may be confused about the difference between sex and gender.

I want to be a cute anime girl is much more authentic since the author, Azul Crescent, is trans, herself, as noted in a Q&A. Authentic representation by those in the community is some of the best representation.

For instance, trans people voicing trans characters in High Guardian Spice, to give an example, felt more real than if someone who wasn't trans had voiced them instead, as happens too often. Cisgender actors playing trans characters in film has been described by some as something that seems to happen "in a way to make fun of the trans character or invalidate their identity."

The comic has received a positive reception, with fan art and cosplays retweeted by Azul Crescent, including fan art from Jocelyn Samara DiDomenick, who makes the soon-to-be-ending webcomic, Rain, which also has a trans girl protagonist (Liriel Rain Flaherty).

Currently, the comic also has a French version, in an effort to reach more people. Crescent is also known for the dormant webcomic "Daily Life of Dia." In 2021, the comic was nominated for a Webtoon award for slice of life webcomics. Others have even done comic dubs, which have been posted on YouTube, and has been shared on trans-friendly subs on Reddit, and likely across Tumblr.

I highly recommend I want to be a cute anime girl for those who are trans, those who are allies, and anyone else who wants to learn more. for cloud, i’m assuming either he’s still recovering from trauma or that sephiroth has invaded his brain. i feel like he just could use some warmth so i would definitely hold him and tell him that no matter what happened, it was never his fault and that it’s okay to still have nightmares. i’d probably soothe him by making him some tea mostly or even just running my hands in his chocobo-like hair. for myself, cloud would also do similar except he lets his actions do the talking instead of his words so he’s definitely hold me tight — rather rare since it’s harder for him to show affection since he doesn’t want to get too attached but he’ll do his best in order to comfort.

hajime is RELUCTANT but he tries to play final fantasy with me cause i told him i’m in the game (he regrets it because he knew i am not). he ends up liking aerith because he sees me somewhat and he gets annoyed since i said he’s basically cloud with the way he acts (his amazon cart has the cosplay already in it). another game is smash bros but he likes that more cause then he can get payback against me, his main is cloud (he also regrets this for like 0.2 seconds but he likes his playstyle) since i get distract and ultimately, he wins. i tried to get him into genshin, honkai star rail, and fate grand order but he said no cause he doesn’t want to go broke for pixels.

my favorite date is probably our first date since he was flustered and probably went for the most casual thing he could think of, an amusement park to which he won me a giant gible plushie and he was able to protect me from my fear of heights. he did NOT pick this idea, tooru did and he hatecrimed tooru because i looked miserable on every ride to which tooru texted back, “it’s okay, you’re protect her, iwa-chan! 😋🫶✨‼️” the arcade was fun as well as the food. bonus if it’s disneyland because star wars land is the BEST.

i mean honestly, yes. dan heng and i definitely enjoy just being next to each other so i believe quality time is a great one. he probably works on the data bank while i sleep since i sleep so much and he ends up reading it out loud to me to check for grammatical mistakes but also since i’m curious about his adventures since leaving the luofu. i’m sure it was relaxing for the most part to speak about his adventures and just makes me wish to travel more so maybe one day we could take our own little adventure outside of my dreams<3

i feel like this was inspired by a certain conversation… but anyway! love this one AHAHAHAHAH! anyway zack is the type to not have an iternary because he’s just bouncing off the walls which who blames him?? ITS BEACH TIME!! but i digress, a beach day is definitely a fun day! (provided that costa del sol isn’t also giving monsters a vacation as well, ahem anyway…) but definitely he’d grab me and throw me into the water as soon as we got to the beach, he’d make sure it’s safe but he’s also SUCH a tease. though, he’d realize we forgot sun screen so he waits about 20 minutes before throwing me in again. we also would have a picnic on the beach honestly, the resort provides the food though. he’s like 23 at this point so he’s a bit more mature but still has that childish glow. i’d try to teach him beach volleyball too, he’s so bad unless he’s serving overhand LOL. overall, a fun day without the monsters as we play in the water, perhaps building sandcastles and teaching each other small things about ourselves :)

iwaizumi hajime does not neglect great date SPOTS. he definitely does just silly little things like errands but sometimes he’ll trick me and just take me on a long drive!! my favorite time that he did this is when he took me up high on a mountain and overlooked the whole city as well as all of the lights below. he claims it’s because i needed to get out of bed more but i know he’s dying to take me. what’s even better is that along that, there’s an observatory at the top of the mountain and there’s a planetarium since he knows i like the stars but all he sees is his star while he smiles brightly at how happy i am, looking down below.

neuvillette definitely seems like the type to be mr. worldwide SOLELY FOR THAT FACT that the water is delicious. i believe he would want the journey to be as short as possible though for work… unfortunately. he and i are both glad he could make the time though. we’d definitely go to the new area that released!! he probably likes it because there’s so much water there so it’s similar to what he’s used to and cause it’s closer than the rest. it was a small date for the two of us but it’s definitely nice to see how much neuvillette knows everything and explain the difference between waters<33

Why was a movie theatre doing a "woman-only" showing of a movie? That makes no sense. There's no benefit of having only women present to watch a fucking movie. What is the point?

And Wonder Woman, this version at least, was kinda mid. There are a lot of good wonder woman movies that men loved. The fact (some) very loud men disliked this one movie is not sexism. XD Wonder Woman is insanely popular... When done right. And she's just not the best done in Zack Snyder's version of the DCU.

My favorite iteration of wonder woman personally will always be the JL cartoon Wonder Woman. She was strong, she was confident, and most importantly, they let her actually give a shit about men.

She left Themyscira specifically to protect the realms of men, and that includes the Male Sex. And yeah, she does have to unlearn some of the toxic sexism of Themyscira, but for the most part, it doesn't really interfere with her love for humanity. For example: there was a plotline where a human woman who was raised in Themyscira tried to literally genocide the male sex using a virus that targeted the Y Chromosome. She literally talked like a radfem. XD you'd think radfems were cosplaying her, it was fucking uncanny.

But anyway, during this Wonder Woman was confronted by the fact this mindset this woman had was exactly what Themyscira was teaching. That men were evil, that women weren't the bad ones, etc. etc. and Wonder Woman, confronted with this, at first opposed the idea that this extreme was what Themyscira meant, but in the end acknowledged this is what the teachings would lead to. And she openly and loudly opposed this woman. Despite all her cries of sisterhood, and how women would be better off without men, and *insert feminist nonsense here*, Diana took her down because she knew that she was wrong. That men weren't evil, that women needed men as much as men needed women, that women could be just as monstrous as any man, etc. she opposed the feminist idea that men were worse than women.

And yet, she still kept the idea that she was a woman, she was strong, and being a woman did not make her different from the male heroes. One of my favorite scenes is actually when she's talking to Batman about their relationship, and he's hesitant to be with her romantically because villains could target her/use her against him, and in response... She crushes a gargoyle statue with one hand. XD Literally being like "are you serious? I'd like to see them try."

She was a woman, and she was strong. But her being a woman was not the main part of her character. She was feminist, but opposed all the most toxic ideas of feminism. She was the Strong Female Character done right.

Gal Gadot, as much as I love her performance, is playing a version of wonder woman that just can't say the same.

So did the last date with Aerith happen when she was already dead? Is it Cloud's imagination?

How can it be his imagination?

Look, the lifestream contains the memories and knowledge of every person on the planet. At any given time there's echoes of people within it, so even though someone is alive, they're also dead because time has no meaning there.

The Aerith that drags Cloud into a tributary of the lifestream is one that's already dead. She's a near future version of her, like how she was dead and projecting herself back in her resolution. She basically uses her powers for personal gain because she's selfish and can't let Cloud have any peace of mind. She doesn't care that she fucks up his mental health by invading his unconscious mind, although Cloud's real subconscious still protects him from her by denying her any access to his real self. She only gets the soldier boi.

It's basically no different to how Sephiroth tries to break down his mental defenses.

So, she's dead and basically holding his unconscious mind to hostage the same way she barricaded him in her house. This is her "dream date", her last ditch attempt to force Cloud to go along with what she wants. She doesn't even like him that much since she can't decide if she likes him romantically or not, but she does like forcing him to recreate Zack's date with her.

I question whether any feelings she might have roused within herself would even be valid. She's making him cosplay as her dead boyfriend while pretending she wants to get to know Cloud. Anything she felt about that would be tainted and constantly compared to Zack.

And ofc Cloud has zero interest in her which is why he says she's an ally in the ultimate friendzone conversation.

Anyway, the Aerith you see is dead. Cloud is alive and his unconscious mind is being held hostage. It's only once Aerith is done with him she lets him go. Then he intercepts the still living Aerith who while awake somehow manages to have a conversation with him and take the white materia the dead one gave him before leaving the party forever.

It's only after she's finally away from him that Cloud is able to wake up, so his unconscious state is fully due to her refusing to let him wake up.
