I see Matoi The Sacred Slayer addresses one of my favorite questions when looking at fictional settings with fantastical goings-on, which is “How do religious people feel about living in a world like that?”
Episode 4 has a flashback where Clarus remembers an old partner of hers who was very religious, and believed her powers were given to her by God (which Clarus herself doesn’t appear to believe in). In the present, Matoi is able to create a powerful attack by drawing energy from everything around her, which is addressed as being tied to Shinto’s belief that there are gods in everything (the opposite of what Christianity believes in).
At the same time, the Nights are explained as coming from another dimension, as do spirits and gods of ancient legends, giving a more “scientific” (for the setting) explanation for all the supernatural phenomena.
I only checked this show out on a whim because I came across it on TV Tropes, and aside from a few things, it seems like an okay show so far. Clarus is my favorite so far, too. Big fan of characters who start out as loners only to become absorbed into a friend group that helps them process some Things.

"There isn't enough of two guys just being friends!" Is such a weird take to me cuz like...
Yugi and Joey, Tristan and Joey, Judai and Manjome, Judai and Sho, Judai and Edo, Yusei and Jack and Crow, Yusei and Bruno (yeah I ship it but it's not canon), Yuma and Shark, Yuma and Bronk, Yuma and Kaito, Yuya and Sora, Yuya and Sawatari, Yuya and Gong, Yuto and Shun/Shay, Yusaku and Takeru, Yusaku and Kusanagi, Takeru and Flame (again I ship it but there's nothing canonical about it), Yuga and Luke, Yuga and Gakuto, Yuga and Roa, Yuga and Nail
And that's just within Yugioh. There are so fucking many. Even outside of Yugioh, I can name just tons and tons of male characters who are just friends and don't end up romantic.
Meanwhile, every single male/female relationship either has one of them (usually the girl) have a crush (Judai and Asuka, Yuma and Tori, Tristan and Miho) or they end up romantically involved in the end (this latter option is admittedly more of a problem in western media since most anime I watch don't like confirming relationships but I could still name so many).
So often I'll watch a movie or show that's not even a romance and they still manage to squeeze in some romantic subplot no matter how forced or pointless it seems. Edge of Tomorrow comes to mind immediately for me, what even was the point of pairing those two outside of "the lead two characters are a man and a woman"? Do we really want to set a precedent that men and women can never be friends? Because this happens. All the time. Indy gets a new girl in every single Indiana Jones movie. Leia was the only woman of the group in the OG Star Wars trilogy so she had to get paired with one of the guys and one of them was her brother so that can't happen. But it was happening romantically (even if only slightly) before they knew. What even was the point of the romantic sideplots in the Equestria Girls movies? Oh and Fox and the Hound introducing a female love interest just so she can be the female love interest. The boy and girl in Mr Peabody and Sherman are both like nine and the movie still insists on pushing a romantic angle between them when one of them tried to choke out the other. Nearly every Disney princess movie gives their lead a prince, with some being more pointless than others. Doppler and Amelia are implied like twice then randomly have children at the end of Treasure Planet. Don't even get me started on Warrior Cats. I could go on but I'll stop for now.
Male/female friendships who stay purely platonic and aren't siblings (Luke and Leia) or different species (Nick and Judy from Zootopia) are so so much rarer than male/male or female/female friendships, which are basically everywhere. And what kind of message does that send? That a man and woman can never just be friends? I'd rather not go into how much this exact mindset ruined or just confused so many of my past friendships so just know that my frustration with this is partially personal.
I'm so tired of the most obligatory milk toast straight couples being shoved into every movie or show I watch, especially if it's said female character's only trait or purpose to the narrative. Meanwhile, LGBT pairings are still fighting for representation in media. Steven Universe and The Owl House were revolutionary in terms of representation and they both got canceled early.
It's one thing if the movie is about romance (ie: WALL-E and Elemental are two of my favourite Pixar movies) but it's another when the romance or one sided crush is just shoved in because "that's what men and women have to be doing." It's a stupid mindset and it needs to stop.
This is why Judai & Asuka, Yusaku & Aoi, and Yuga & Romin being purely platonic matter so much to me.

In Episode 89, Takeru finally Summons his initial Xyz Monster, Salamangreat Miragestallio. Its horse design (with flames looking like Pegasus wings) is an obvious reference to Yuma.
With Windy's defeat, only Lightning, and Bohman remain, though Lightning will sort of recruit Kusanagi to increase his numbers.
With Windy's defeat, he curses Flame, setting up Flame's demise.
This will be Takeru's final victory for S2, though he will get two other ones in S3.
As you probably noticed, so far 2 Ignis has fallen to two human Duelists with AI partners (Go with SOL AI, Takeru with Flame). It really doesn't look good for Lightning's claim of AI surpassing humanity, and S3's events won't look good for Ai either.

Trust me to say in the tags that people should ask me to elaborate, then imediately go to bed so i dont see the people asking me to elaborate 😀😀😀
Anyways tysm @pinkprimrose05 @vividstardustrevolution @roseycanvas !!!
I’ll put it under a read more thing bc i worry abt post length lol
ok ok think with me, we start off in the vrains world post canon, soltech coming out with new technology again, including an in-vrains feature, ‘legendary duelists’. (Think, like what duel links has going on lmao). Supposedly exact recreations of famous historical duelists from other eras who could be fought against in the vrains. The first two to be released were Yuma and Yuya.
This was interesting to Yusaku, who wondered if the programs used to make them could be used to recreate Ai.
Cut to Yuma and Yuya in the vrains, attempting to speed duel for the first time. Yuya loves the idea immediately, but keeps attempting to do goofy dueltaining tricks while speed duelling and nearly falls off the board. Yuma notices that his own duelling skills seem to have regressed back to what they were at the beginning of Zexal. Yusaku shows up, wondering about the program that recreated them both, and yuya and yuma are like also immediately intrigued, bc they don’t really know how they got here. When Yusaku explains his plan they’re like ‘you can bring back Astral?? You can bring back Yuzu??’
The three of them end up teaming up for a little heist into sol tech, to get access to the program and use it for their own means. In doing so, the villains would be those other Soltech higher-ups named after chess pieces who were seemingly cut from the vrains story.
We’d get some cute little heart-to-hearts mid duel.
Yuya and Yusaku speed duelling, Yusaku shows him how to stay on the duel board better, Yuya shows him how to have fun duelling again.
Yuya and Yuma realise that they’re not the same people they used to be, and Soltech’s recreation wasnt perfect (eg, if Yuma’s a legendary duellist, why would he be bad at duelling?). They realise that they were likely created entirely off of how people remember them, which may not be accurate. They’re not sure how they’re meant to deal with that.
Yuma and Yusaku remind eachother so much of Astral and Ai. They’d have a lot of deja vu moments, and then be like ‘oh yeah u just really remind me of, an old friend’
They do it, they defeat all the soltech goons, they get acess to the program and. Plot twist, it doesn’t work. Soltech managed to recreate Yuya and Yuma because they were famous, they were common knowledge, they were in the duelling history books, a lot of information out there about them yk? The protagonists’ lost friends were not so lucky that they could be recreated as easily.
Yusaku wonders if with the help of his own old friends (notably, Kusanagi) and with time, they may still be able to make it work. Problem being, Yusaku and Kusanagi haven’t spoke since the vrains finale. Yusaku has been on his own for quite a while. Yuma and Yuya hype Yusaku up to reach out to all his other old friends. They show up at Kusanagi’s hot dog truck, we get a cute little reunion, and an open-ended ending. We never find out if they’re successful in bringing everyone else back, but, with the friends we made along the way, maybe things are still gonna be ok.
yugioh hyperfixation felt like it was dying for a sec, then with zero (0) prompting, i wrote a detailed outline of how i would write a bonds beyond time type movie but for Yuma Yuya and Yusaku (if yugioh hired me) into the discord dm of an unsuspecting irl friend <3

For #9 of more things to be written thing, Are Jaden and Yuma blood related or is it more of a found family kind of thing? Does Yubel and Astral exist as spirits partners?
I haven't really thought about it much yet as those lists are mostly little ideas to get out of my head once in a while.
But what the heck let's look over it!
Really it could be either-or, and we would have to figure out how it would differ between the two stories. If blood-related, would Yuma be old enough to remember Yubel? Would his memory be erased like Jaden's? How would the Emperor's Key get to Yuma? What about Akari? Is she still their older sister? If so what happened to her?
I go over the found family side later. But to tie these questions to the story idea:
Akari was both Jaden's and Yuma's older sister. Gran gran is no longer able to look after her grandkids which she did for a long while as her son and daughter-in-law were always away working.
But Akari, she took overlooking over her brothers. She had some jealousy due to Jaden getting Yubel from their father but she mainly put it aside due to how little Jaden actually got to see their dad. Yuma doesn't get the Emperor's Key until much later and it is not from their parents. So no jealousy from that. Instead, we have an overprotective sister who has two younger brothers to raise, and when Gran gran can't continue to help she is on her own...
And then Yubel starts acting up.
So people are falling into comas, straight up vanishing, and Jaden is freaking out. Because he doesn't know what is going on but the people he is friends with are getting hurt for no reason he can understand.
We are going with Akari being four years older than Jaden with Yuma two years younger than Jaden. So Yuma would not really remember these events or much of their parents, Gran gran, or even their sister because he was so young when she ended up in a coma thanks to Yubel not liking another person taking up Jaden's time from them.
So Jaden had already gone into the card drawing contest and by the time he was told he won there is a great weight on his shoulders. His parents are never home, Gran gran isn't able to look after them and now his older sister is hurt because his duel monster, who he got from his dad, didn't like her. (And didn’t that hurt. Dad was never home and the gift he did leave behind attacked one of the two people who has stayed.)
So he asks for Yubel to be sent to space, hoping that they would be able to get away and heal.
And to make sure they couldn't get to Yuma.
Something he wasn't planning on was his parents finding out something happened and having his memory erased. So now he doesn't have a clue, not a single clue, what happened to Akari and now he is very scared that something will happen to Yuma as well. But he can’t plan for it as he has no clue at all what happened!
So Yuma, the small sweet thing he is grew up with no parents, occasionally seeing his senile Gran gran who doesn't remember him at all between trips, only sees his sister in pictures or laying in a hospital bed in a coma, and an overprotective older brother trying his best to raise him.
Yuma wasn't able to keep his Key when it first popped up. Jaden took it to make sure it wouldn't hurt him, and eventually gave it back when he figured out that it helped Yuma stay calm when he wasn't there.
I will have to figure out how to get the key to him, but for now, it popped up.
Jaden will not be banning Yuma from dueling. He still duels so it would be hypocritical to do so. But that doesn't mean Yuma really gets the game. Jaden tries, oh how he tries to teach his little brother, but Yuma just cannot seem to get it. It is almost like something is stopping him from getting it.
Jaden’s overprotectiveness is not helped by the fact that Yuma having dreams of the future. Or the bullying problem at school. Which has been either been handled by Jaden getting into a fistfight or the bullies suddenly falling into some sort of problem. No one has fallen into a coma, but some have gone missing and others have gone mad.
No one knows what has been going on with the Yuki brothers but they do not have any friends because of it.
Thus the two only had each other for years and Yuma had to convince Jaden to try to get into Duel Academy. While Jaden wanted into the school he was worried about leaving his brother behind.
Then Yuma finds Yusaku and Shoichi. Laches onto them and will not let go. Poor Yusaku just started this alliance with Shoichi and is (poorly) trying to get over his trauma. Now, this little thirteen-year-old is following him around and asking him all sorts of questions about computers and duel monsters. (And asking about the strange figure in his shadow. But that just had to be a hyper imagination...right?)
Shoichi really does like the idea of Yuma opening Yusaku up and giving not only Yusaku a friend but Yuma one too. The kid, (Jaden too but saying anything to that teen would be a bad idea given how tense he is), is in desperate need of a friend.
So Jaden gets talked into letting this pair of hackers look after his little brother while he goes to Duel Academy.
And no he is not happy about it. He is even less happy when he comes home after his first year, (which was a headache and a half due to the Shadow Riders), and sees that his younger brother has a weird spirit following him around. (Jaden does not understand why he thinks this is so horrible after all Winged Kuriboh follows him around at times. But something in his gut screams that this is bad. Real bad.)
Astral does not have his memory and is looking for the Number Cards. So XYZ summoning is a brand new thing that has popped up. (Kinda like how Pendulum popped up in ArcV) And Yuma is doing his best to keep it on the down-low. Yusaku and Soichi have been pounding subtlety into this kid's head for about a year and while he is not great at it he tries so hard.
Astral appreciates Yuma's attempts to keep XYZ quiet and he is grateful for Jaden being able to see and hear him. Just having Yuma to talk to has been interesting and now he can learn more with another person to make observations on. Something Jaden is not amused about but is taking it with as much grace as he can right now.
And that is all I can think of right now I will get to the found family later.

🌹Astral, Yuma, III, Yusaku, Ai, Kusanagi (just do whoever you want lol)
Thank youuuu!!! I did all of them xD
—✨Astral
Astral could play multiple instruments if he ever had the chance to actually try and learn how to play them. His favourite instrument would be the piano.
Astral loves sweets. Like, a lot.
He’d love to have a pet. But no cat.
—🌻Yuma
Yuma participated in some kind of athletic competition that took part at his school and won.
He can’t cook to save his life. He will burn down your kitchen and your house.
As a grown man, he goes on adventures with his father. Occasionally, he’ll make Astral come with them as well. They always have a delightful time.
—🕯III
He plays the violin.
As a grown man, he sometimes likes to teach children all kinds of things about aztecs‘ culture.
Has a nerd blog where he defends his nerd stuff. Do not start an argument with him. You can’t win.
—👾Yusaku
He doesn’t like spicy food.
Always wanted a cat as a child.
Secretly a Star Wars fan.
—👾Ai
Literally the clingiest boyfriend you could ever imagine. He will be extremly pouty if you don’t shower him with love every. single. day.
Has a blog where he posts pictures of himself five times a day.
A dog stole Yusaku's duel disk once. Ever since that day, Ai has a fear of dogs.
Extra: With his android body, he challenged that dog to a duel. It didn’t really work out.
—👾Kusanagi
Once upon a time, he refused to make a hotdog for a certain customer, because he heard them talk bs about Playmaker
Had a crush on Ghost Girl for a week or so.
An incredible cook. Seriously, he’s known for his hotdogs, but he can actually cook a variety of dishes.

Pokemon sword and shield x Vrains - Similairity
since I was too hyped for both vrains and pokemon (yet lack of passion for drawing ; w ; I do it slow ) so, I draw little comic of them ^w^
- I notice that Leon , the galar Champion really look like Kusanagi Shoichi (hotdog guy of vrains) so here, have some of Kusanagi family with him
- Gossifluer , the new grass type pokemon , really look like Playmaker/Yusaku!! so many pokemon trainer mistake him for it! (Leon take Yusaku to his world without permisson from Shoichi lololololololol)
- So Yusaku finally got a pokemon which look like him , He could finally join the other protags who already have look alike pokemon!!
- There are more Yu-gi-oh characters who look like Pokemon (That I could think of right now)  which are IV (zexal) and Furfrou , team ragnarok (5d’s) and trio bird legendaries , Jack atlas (5d’s) and Manectric..... please suggest me if you know more, ok? :D

Jon’s Anime Thoughts: Top 10 Favorite Female Characters from 2016
10. Kaede Kayano (Assassination Classroom Season 2)
Tumblr media
Kaede was totally amazing, with her shocking revelation to her spirit of wanting to keep Koro-Sensei safe too. Also her story with Nagisa was great too.
9.  Saya Sasimiya (The Asterisk War Season 2)
Tumblr media
Saya is amazing, like always. Loved her again in the second season. One of my spirit animals is just awesome. Loved her story fighting with Kirin and fighting with the others too.
8. Aoba Kazane (Keijo!!!!!!!!)
Tumblr media
Aoba was kickass. I loved her ability to take the techniques to use herself. Also like I said earlier how she conquered her anxiety and issues to become confident and kickass is great.
7. Miyata Sayaka  (Keijo!!!!!!!!)
Tumblr media
Miyata’s determination to prove herself to be the fastest and to her father was a great story. Her motivations and character were both great to watch.
6. Nozomi Kaminashi  (Keijo!!!!!!!!)
Tumblr media
Nozomi was just so amazing to watch. Her spirit brought out the best in her opponents and changed how some of the students thought. Also her determination was amazing too.
5. Matoi Sumeragi (Matoi the Sacred Slayer)
Tumblr media
Matoi like most of the characters I love, was fantastic. Her story and journey was great. Also that she achieved her wish to bring her family back together was emotional. She didn’t achieve her ordinary wish but it’s fun to see her continue.
4. Luluco (Space Patrol Luluco)
Tumblr media
Luluco was fucking great, and went on a crazy adventure but saved her city. It was great to watch. Also the events that she went through were really crazy lol.
3. Yuma Kusanagi (Matoi the Sacred Slayer)
Tumblr media
Yuma was freaking amazing! Her spirit and altruism were amazing. Also her wanting to be a hero was great. She brought a lot of life to the series and helped push Matoi too.
2. Clarus Tonitrus (Matoi The Sacred Slayer)
Tumblr media
Clarus was kickass. I loved how much she grew as a character. She also kicked so much ass. That she grew from being alone to fighting for her friends was amazing.
1. Hajime Ichinose (Gatchaman Crowds/Insight)
Tumblr media
Hajime was the best. She was unlike anyone else. She conquered so many problems with a smile. She fought for what she believed in and was just so outside the box that she was amazing. Also, this whole list was about what I watched in 2016 not what came out in 2016.

So Episode 59.
This episode, and the following one are written by Yoshifumi Fukushima, making this technically a two-parter, though Gauche vs. Yuma only takes this episode.
The Spell Card name this Field is Dangerous Canyon, though when Yuma & Gauche drop from their Duel Coasters, a different Field Spell is activated.
This episode serves as the debut of Mogmole, and Gagaga Cowboy. As such, this episode has a Wild West theme.
Kotori leaves the Duel half-way under Yuma's instructions, since recent events make it difficult for him to get into proper mood with Gauche. Kotori will be stuck at the end of the episode, leading to a gag shot.
We get some of Gauche & Droite's backstory, though not much.
With this Duel, Yuma gets Heroic Champion - Excalibur, which will remain with him for rest of this series.
With Gauche defeated, only person remaining for Mr. Heartland is Kaito.
Since this is Gauche's final Duel until ZEXAL II, Gandiva, and Kusanagi also debut in this episode.
