“What are you doing here?”
“Sleepover. Duh.”
Saori’s face is bright and peppy as always, and so is Keiko’s slightly more wicked grin (but only visibly, the both of them are full of wiles as they are full of care, and they may drive her insane one day, but she may end up letting them), so Izumi concludes that she is very much in danger.
“That you planned last minute,” Izumi says, still in disbelief. She checks her clock. “At 10 in the evening. On a Tuesday.”
“Oh, you’re no fun,” Keiko says. She holds up a bag. “We brought food and everything.”
“Well, if you brought food,” Izumi jokes, but the others are already sitting down and setting up. She sighs. “Then sure. Why not.”

Chris: Gamera Super Monster is the first Gamera film in 9 years and is mainly composed of clips from previous Gamera films, good to play in the background just for all the previous monsters’ clips in one film! Hmmmm….not great as a film in anyway, so only for kaiju fans, Watch: When Free.

The exhibition included prints by eight artists who incorporated sumi ink or black into their woodblock prints. Keiko Hara, Katsutoshi Yuasa @katsuyuasa1978, Ema Shin @ema.shin, Florence Neal @evergladepress, Mara Cozzolino @mara_cozzolino, Jacqueline Gribbin @jacquelinefgribbin, Wayne Crothers, and me. This exhibition was complemented by Kuro Noir, an exquisite portfolio of prints also featuring black and sumi by 14 International artists known as the Nagasawa 14. Creativas mujeres en el anime
Se suele insultar al anime diciendo que es una industria por y para gordos violines llena de lolis y menores sexualizadas para que los otaku se compren las almohadas esas, es verdad...pero no toda la verdad. También tiene una importante base femenina (en general alrededor de lo fujoshi) y en los últimos 20 años explotó la cantidad de mujeres que trabajan dentro de la industria al punto que en alguna entrevista oshii bromeo que el estudio de animación Production I.G. ahora está solo conformado de “mujeres jóvenes” esta lista tiene algunas de las más importantes.
Para una discusión más completa sobre la discriminación recomiendo este post de sakugabooru sobre algunas de las primeras directoras y animadoras del anime y si buscan kyoani en el buscador de ese mismo blog cualquier artículo sobre ese estudio va a tener menciones a animadoras o directoras por la cantidad de mujeres que laburan ahi. También está Ghibli que desde finales de los 90s en adelante siempre cuenta con gran número de mujeres en sus películas como animadoras, coloristas, etc.

Matsumoto empezó en Toei dirigiendo un par de cosas para el anime del genero magical girl Pretty Cure pero sus dos próximos trabajos son Kyousogiga y la primera temporada de Blood Blockade Battlefront (no dirigió la segunda) ambos shonen con personajes carismáticos y escenas de pelea animadas con mucha destreza y creatividad visual. Si le entras a otros shonen como Hunter x Hunter o fullmetal alchemist entrales de una que encima son re cortos y de los mejores anime de la década de los 2010s.
Naoko Yamada

Yamada es la directora estrella de Kyoani, dirigió K-On, Tamako Market y últimamente dos grandes películas del estudio A Silent Voice: The Movie y Liz and the Blue Bird. Si te gusta el moe y el buen melodrama que desata esas emociones escondidas en los gestos y espacios vacíos de importancia narrativa que suelen ser ignorados en el anime ella es la mejor en un género que a mi no suele gustarme.
Mari Okada

Okada es primariamente una guionista, escribió una bestialidad de series y no me gusta casi ninguna pero son de las más exitosas de los últimos 15 años asi que algo debe tener. entre las famosas están Anohana: The flower we saw that day (anime estrella del 2011) Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron Blooded orphans, Kiznaiver, Toradora y varios capitulos de Lupin the third: The woman called Fujiko mine, dirigida por Sayo Yamamoto. Pero su mayor logro es su único laburo de directora Maquia: When the promised flower blooms un drama-aventura-fantástico con dragones y relaciones maternas y coso.
Sayo Yamamoto

Yamamoto tuvo sus primeros laburos importantes dirigiendo unos cuantos episodios de Samurai Champloo, la serie de (me paro) SHINICHIRO WATANABE. Sus anime son narrativas relativamente realistas para lo que suele ser el anime o al menos no fantasticos. Una mezcla de temáticas sexuales y feministas con roces con lo LGBT es la que tiene más en común con las películas tradicionales de esta lista. Michiko To Hatchin y The Woman Called Fujiko Mine son absolutamente recomendadas si te gustan los anime de Watanabe o el cine de drama/crimen. Su última serie (Yuri On Ice) la hizo una de las directoras más populares de la industria pero a mi no me cabe tanto.
Yoko Kanno

Kanno es una compositora-productora musical. Hizo la musica para Cowboy bebop, anime dirigido por (me paro) SHINICHIRO WATANABE, tambien la musica de Ghost in the Shell: stand alone complex, darker than black, Wolf’s rain, Earth Girl Arjuna, Turn a Gundam, Brain Powerd, Escaflowne, Magnetic Rose, Macross Plus (otra de Watanabe), entre otros. Sus soundtracks son una bestialidad de lo numerosos y lo buenos que son y hace todo bien esta señora es una genia indiscutible del universo.
Keiko Nobumoto

Nobumoto es una guionista y una parte fundamental del éxito inicial de (me paro) SHINICHIRO WATANABE en los 90s. Escribió Macross Plus, Cowboy Bebop (serie y película) Wolf’s Rain y para Satoshi Kon escribió la película Tokyo Godfathers, una maestra del setting y del personaje y hasta se dio el lujo de ser asistente de producción en Akira. 
Una de las razones que se le perdona la poca importancia que le da Watanabe a sus personajes femeninos es que en una industria machista como el anime en un país tan machista como Japon no dudo en darle amplia libertad artística y roles de importancia a gente como Nobumoto, Kanno y Yamamoto. Hoy en 2020 cuando el anime para adultos es cada vez más raro frente a la catarata de Moe se aprecia los temas complejos y delicados que tocaron estas 3 señoras
Eunyoung Choi

Choi es una productora-asistente de producción-animadora-directora-asistente de dirección que trabaja primariamente en el estudio Science Saru del que es su fundadora junto con el director de este estudio y estos anime, Masaaki Yuasa. Recientemente Yuasa dejó de ser el CEO del estudio para dedicarle mas tiempo a la direccion asi que Choi hoy en día es la capitana de uno de los mejores y más interesantes barcos de la industria. Entre sus trabajos están Kemonozume, Kaiba, Tatami Galaxy, Ping Pong the Animation, Devilman Crybaby (que esta en netflix), Keep your hands off eizouken y las películas Lu: over the Wall y Ride your Wave. Es decir, si buscas una animación atada con alambre que parece descarrilar en cualquier momento y de algún modo a tropiezos es una obra de arte deberias mirar algo de esto, el 9 de julio en netflix se estrena la próxima serie del estudio: Japan Sinks 2020

otras directoras de Anime son Atsuko Ishizuka, Chiaki Kon, Ai Yoshimura y Kotomi Deai pero sus series no me gustan tanto asi que las relego a las notas al pie (?)

Keiko Yuasa Exhibition, which will be held from April 10, has been postponed.
4月10日から3日間開催予定の「湯浅景子・展覧会」は延期となりました。
密閉・密集・密接な会ではないので、やれる方法はいくつかあるかと思い、 感染予防などイベント時のガイドライン等、かたい頭ひねくり返しいろいろと模索してみましたが、 作家の湯浅景子さんともお話しして、 何かに怯えながら、気にしながらの開催は気持ちよくないというのが一番の理由です。 今ここではないのかと。
沖縄県内の感染者数は、メディアの発表ではまだ少ない状況です。
湯浅さん自身、沖縄県外からやってくるということ、 もしかしたら無症状で感染してる可能性もあるということで、 自身が感染源になってしまう可能性も考慮すると、、、気持ちよくいられない。 ご来場いただいた皆さんと作品についてのあれやこれやもお話したくさんしたいですし。 またのいい機会を秋頃にはっと目論んでいます。
この延期期間に、さらなる新作が増えるのも楽しみでありますし、 来ていただくみなさんが楽しく、あれもこれもよかったぁ〜と満足いくイベントへと脇を固める私たちも、それぞれ磨きをかけるいいパワーアップ期間にしたいと思っております。
ブラッシュアップされた、またの開催を楽しみにしていただければ幸いです。
その時は、ぜひお出かけください!っと自信を持って大声で叫べる、 ナイス🤟展示会になっているかと思います。まずはそこへ向かいます。
