The thing that gets me about history and humanity is that you never know what is immortalized, and the things that will be immortalized are things you would never think.
I saw a person sharing a new tattoo, and it was one of Onfim's drawings. A boy who lived so long ago he is barely a blip now, but his drawings meant so much to people that somebody is now permanently marked in their skin with one of those drawings. Do you ever look at the things you make and just sit there and wonder if this is the thing that future people look at? Do you ever look at your art, your writing, your schoolwork, or anything that is yours and just wonder who will find it, who will fall in love with a piece of your humanity and become overwhelmed with emotion over? It's not unlikely. It's not totally unlikely that somebody will find a piece of you in the distant future and devoid of any other context of who you were will still love you because you were here. You were here, and you are still here, even hundreds or thousands of years later. Treat yourself with the same love that so many have for dear Onfim.

FW! Mikey crochets!
he does a lot of other things too and crochet isn't his main thing (i think Raph eventually takes that as his main hobby later on) but he does do it!

Here is the Davy Stripey Sweater!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was a TRIAL!
The color scheme was, first of all, very difficult to see and decipher. The original sweater that Davy wears is actually a printed jersey fabric. The smallest feasible stitch I can do is a single crochet, and that was about the size of what a larger stripe would've looked like. I had to adjust tremendously to make it work. I did get through one go through of the actual stripe pattern (yes, there is a pattern!). It was also a different number of stitches in width which made a little difficult to figure out the neck hole size and the tightness of the ribbing. I also adjusted the original general pattern for sweaters to make the neck more comfortable, but it did turn out a little floppy-ish.
On the positive, I used up a lit of colors I normal would never touch. I really liked how unique the color scheme of this sweater is, and once I got the hang of it, I flew through it when I didn't have any work to do. I still need to snip a few fluffy here and there, but it's a really.cozy sweater! Once it goes through the wash it should relax a little and be even more comfy to wear :)
I find it really interesting that there were sweaters like this back in the sixties! I don't normally think of these kind of crazy stripey sweaters as relevant to that era... anyway, here's to Davy! 🍻 below, my friends, is the pattern!
The pattern is from this video:
youtube
The only thing I did differently was by adding a few more rows to the back panel. Instead of doing ten rows for the shoulders, I did 4 rows on the back panel. That way, the neck wasn't choking me much. The rest I followed to the tee.
Color scheme:
Tumblr media
The color scheme was as close as I could see, but if you see something different, by all means! :) The sleeves start (after the blue cuff) at the 2 rows of red portion of the pattern you can see on the right side. From there, just follow the pattern until the end, then go back to the beginning (I've heard this before...)! Please let me know if you all need more clarification on the pattern 😊
I'm excited for the next one!!!!!!!

not to be FUCKING dramatic, but crochet is intuitive and logical and knitting is of the devil and feels like every step is just made up on a whim

The most fulfilling thing about art (and why I'm so passionate about it as a concept) is just knowing that this is a piece of you entering this world and being born, and it's as imperfect, messy, and human as you are.
Like, this is my first single crochet, and look at it!
Tumblr media
It's lumpy and not even whatsoever, but that came out of my hands. It is, essentially, not unlike a toddler who has just learned to walk with uneasy legs. Would you punish a toddler for toddling, for being unsteady and unrefined? Then why is it that we must punish ourselves for being in what is essentially that same state? Create, even if you cannot run with it. You can still walk with it. You can still crawl with it. But, create

start of a new era: crafting!
so i do have an instagram crochet account but i felt unnecessarily pressured to make everything look as aesthetic as possible so eventually i just stopped posting bc it started to stress me out lol. which is just a long winded way to say that these pics will not be any better than the other crochet posts i have on here, this will just be a stress-free version of my abandoned insta account
with that being said, my goal for 2025 is to completely use up all my scrap yarn! i’ve accumulated a lot when i tried to make the lucy gray dress (2.0), but that’s a convo for another time. for now, my most recent project is daisy curtains (pictured below). the daisy is very basic and u can find countless tutorials for it on youtube, but i’m using the same technique ikoxun used in her room decor video (i’m talking about the the vines. i also made those for my room and i fell in love so i felt like it was only natural to make another version of the project!) here’s my minuscule progress for the daisy curtains, i think im gonna make about ten of them bc i don’t want them to go all the way down, i just want them to be a little longer than the (also crocheted) plant i have so that the placement doesn’t look as awkward anymore
Tumblr media
this one is the first draft in the sense that i’m gonna put this on the outskirts so it’s not as noticeable (like, no way am i unraveling this haha). as u can probably tell i was playing around with whether i wanted the center open or closed, and i think ive settled on open. the only thing i am not copying from ikoxun’s pattern is that im not starting with a chain. that worked nicely for the vines but i think it would look weird for the daisies
okay that’s it! thank you i love you
