kinda rant about youtube premium

thing that's been swirling around in my brain~~

whether I'm wasting money or not...

almost $20 to have youtube premium on ios at least... just for no ads, as many of the other features like video downloads or now having your phone screen off and videos will continue to play, I don't use.

I used to use that all the time when I'd go to the park, I'd listen to youtube videos and music. and before paying for youtube premium subscription, i just left my phone unlocked and on youtube...

could have my phone open once again if I resume that, or download more game soundtracks and put it on my mp3 player.

do people still use those?

but youtube is a much better repository of music and my mp3 player lacks room...

is putting up with the ads worth it? leaving my phone open?

I genuinely hate that I can't make up my mind with this particular question.... I got used to no ads cause it's been years since I purchased it, got used to it, and only now am i like "is it worth it?"

I'd say no because I don't use many of the features anymore~~~ and never used downloads to begin with.

time to start putting up with ads again; subscription expires tomorrow and i feel it's not worth it to have it anymore.

but I stupidly keep subscribing again~~~

me doing constant back and forth drives me mad and I wish I'd stick to not having it for the long term. put up with ads again while listening to long form videos or music.

but sibling recently paid for it too as ads are getting so bad apparently....

It's not a life or death situation surely, but the constant back and forth and not knowing what to do personally drives me mad.

are ads worth tolerating anymore? I haven't dealt with them in forever, are they really that bad now?

is the $20 worth simply for no ads worth it if I don't use any other features? I'd say no and should probably learn to tolerate them again

I would watch so many more shows if they weren't all scattered through 12 different subscription services of which at least 6 aren't even available in my country

Especially those streaming platforms that force you to pay to have ads removed too. People switched to streaming platforms like Netflix SPECIFICALLY because it was CHEAPer than cable and had a wide array of all the content you want to watch, but now all these different platforms’ plans cost damn near more than cable. WHEN IN DOUBT, YOU ARE A PIRATE 🏴‍☠️!!

surviving the current age of internet means saying no to subscriptions and premiums for basic features. you must endure the inconvenience of not being able to use every server emoji in discord. you must build the patience to find alternatives like NewPipe so you can listen to music on youtube while your phone screen sleeps. do Not give these corporations your limited disposable income. tiktok not letting me view videos on my phone without downloading the app? i will outlast tiktok and the execs will be remembered as dull,disgusting capitalists. listen to me, listen to me. if you do not know how to pirate shows from hulu, learn. if you can't pirate it, it is not worth the money to rent it. please i'm on my hands and knees. do not accept this form of internet.
