#Yor’s such a good mom

new hc just dropped: Ostanian women are on average well-educated and make up a decent portion of the work force. Married women are also common as well as mothers. The unemployment rate however does increase when she has a second child.

rationale: unlike canon, i like to see stories about women with close relationships moving through adulthood. So naturally i am obsessed with the city hall secretaries and developing them outside of their monotone misogynist identities.

so rather than being mean women who bully Yor for the fuck of it, they are complex women working their own struggles and negotiating their identity as women in a modern ostania. from there i sort of carved individual stories for each girlie. i focused a bit more on work since their relationship is based around work.

for Millie, i have it where her dad died while she was somewhat young. Her mother married young and had a good number of kids with him, she was unemployed and focused on raising them. of course once he died she was left to provide for her kids herself. so millie grew up with a working mother and understands the importance of having money and education. still, she was raised with a traditional mentality, get married have kids, so it is still her main goal. but because of the independence her mother indirectly instilled in her, Millie cannot settle for any man and is constantly in and out of relationships because of that.

so i decided to extend Millie situation to all women of her age group in Ostania. Many of whom either grew up watching their mother work hard or had to work themselves like Yor. Essentially, because of the wars, there remains a persistent belief that your partner will die at some point and so you must be able to support yourself and your family regardless of him or his money. so women go to work and they get proper educations and as a result develop high standards for partners (even if they still continue to seek them out).

this issue was only worsened when Donovan Dickhead Desmond practically forced no-fault divorce in Ostanian law meaning even married women would leave their husbands if he is not up to par.

the current administration is trying to crack down on this whole situation because independent women truly are a threat to society. that's why at the start of the story there were cases of women being targeted by the SSS for being unmarried. they're literally trying to make being a single working women problematic to force women into marriage.

In the interim between your meeting with Captain Price and dinner with the task force you call your family pack. You know your moms and dad will give you their honest opinions, and right now you want that more than anything.

"Hey pretty girl," Dad says when he picks up the video call. "Everything okay? You usually don't call on a weekday unless we've planned it." For a moment you simply take in his smile and the way he's trying to reassure you.

You deflect. "How are you feeling, Dad?" He's carrying another litter, and after losing the last two, you know how important it is to everyone that this one is successful.

"Your moms have pretty much put me on bed rest," he says, rolling his eyes. "But you called us, honey, what's going on?"

You sigh. This is what you called them for. "Well, I wanted your opinion on something," you tell him.

"Just my opinion, or do you want the moms' too?"

You tell him you want everyone's opinion, so he moves through your childhood home to where your moms are, each room he passes drawing forth another bittersweet memory that has you missing him and your pack even more.

He finds your moms in your childhood bedroom, being transformed into a nursery, again. He sits on the rocking chair you remember, the one that floated between the three kids' bedrooms each time there was a new litter. Once your moms are standing behind Dad, you tell everyone about the offer to join Price's task force, and by extension his pack.

The more you tell them, the more your mind snags on how appealing being part of a pack is. But you can't help but be scared of the implications of that desire. Despite how Price laid things out, it's going to be hard enough to prove you're worthy of being on the 141, and if you become part of their pack, you'll never escape the talk about sleeping your way on the task force.

Your parents can tell your mind is somewhere else when you hear Mum insert your name into Bowie's "Space Oddity."

"Sorry, Mum. Wha' was i'?"

"I was just saying this - the task force, I mean - sounds like a great career opportunity. But I can't abide how much more danger this puts you in."

Mama adds, "Sounds like this alpha knew how to broach this. Didn't cock it up. And I agree with Mum, this is much more dangerous than what yer doing now. But sweetie, ya didn't see yerself when ya talked about what this would mean ta ya. And what doors it might open for other omegas like your brother."

You tear up. Both your moms see this for the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity it is. You notice no one's mentioned the other half of Price's offer. "Dad?" you prompt, "Wha' da you think?"

Dad watches you for a few minutes, smiling but sad: you can see it in his eyes. "I think you need to say yes, honey. Even if it scares us more, i's the right thing fer you." Your moms don't chime in; they don't need to. But you need want their thoughts on becoming a pack omega, Dad's in particular.

"And the other part?" you ask quietly, looking away.

"Honey, becoming pack omega fer yor moms was one of the hardest and easiest decisions I ever made. I love yer moms," you watch their faces through his declaration, both putting a comforting hand somewhere on him, "and they gave me all of you pups. If Price is as good an alpha as he is a Captain, if 'e's a guiding hand for his pack, then you couldn't have a better mate. In the end, trust your omega."

And that's the crux of the matter isn't it. Your omega has been scratching at your hind brain all afternoon because she wants to take Price up on both offers as soon as possible, but you need to be smart about optics and your career.

You tell your parents you love them and thank them for their honesty, promising to tell them what you decide before the ink dries. You end the call with a few minutes to spare before dinner and take that time to pull your emotions together.

Damianya turning point

I'm sure this is fairly obvious but I adore Damianya so I'm still going to write this. Damianya has subtly shifted over the years so has my fanon interpretations of them. I think they've became less one-sided and the bus hijacking was when Anya started to see Damian differently (ie. in a better light).

Anya has always reacted in accordance to whether Damian is being mean or nice. (Eg. She only went for Plan B after Damian saved her from the dodgeball despite initially disliking him to the point of not bothering with Plan B.) So when Damian takes the initiative to apologise, Anya instantly beams and sincerely tells Damian he was "super cool". She even calls him a hero (heroes like her dad and Bondman). I think this is genuine on Anya's part because when Damian did his big self sacrificing moment, he had no idea the bomb was fake. He saw all of that danger with none of Anya's knowledge and decided to go for it.

Anya likes being the protector more than the protected (ch 105.5). She is very proactive in trying to save her parents and her classmates. While her parents and the adults are obliged to look after her, Damian is... not. Arguably, his higher social status would make him more "worthy to be protected" than a commoner kid. But while Anya puts on a brave front, she gets scared and anxious like any other kid, seen as when the adrenaline rush fades and she cries into Yor's arms.

Damian, as a fellow child, is not obliged to stand up for Anya. He said he would make the perfect hostage, and while what he said makes sense, Anya can read his mind. The catalyst for Damian to make a move was seeing Anya "look scared" (misinterpretation of Anya being overwhelmed by other's thoughts). And I think hearing Damian's panicked thoughts afterwards made Anya appreciate him more, because he wasn't fearless. He stood up for her while being acutely aware of the risks and being terrified himself. He was a "hero" who 1) wasn't obliged to protect her 2) lacked the information Anya had 3) was just a kid like her. Anya now sees the similarities between herself and Damian (will protect people they care about) while feeling touched by his determination. She's always protecting people so it feels nice to be protected. (And not just in silly situations like dodgeball matches.)

Note that Anya only called Damian a hero after his apology, but not before he called them friends. Anya might be reminded of Strix afterwards, but before that, it was all genuine. Damian acknowledged his mistakes and said something nice, so Anya was also willing to say something nice (and be honest).

There is also the aspect about Damian's family. I think Anya has always understood, even if just subconsciously, that she and Damian are similar because they want to impress their fathers. Now that Anya has met Melinda (and Demetrius), she comes to the conclusion that Damian's family is weird. Someone who wants the same things as her (a loving, caring family) is less fortunate than her. I think this is why Anya directly reassured Damian that his mom loves him + why we got that close up of Damian saying "your family seems nice". Now that she sees more similarities between herself and Damian (and feels better about him), she wants to be kind to him.

Then it seems like Damian and Anya are returning to their bickering status quo. Interestingly, Damian apologies in both the post hijacking chapter and the crunchy cakes chapter. Granted, for the latter he was apologising to Henderson, but I think Anya could tell Damian really wanted to give her the cakes. She happily agrees that they're even and that they can be good friends.

And then, of course, the famous school party chapters.

It is SO important to me that Loid literally thought Anya could dance with whoever she likes. He had a logical train of thought Anya could follow. "So long there isn't any major rift" -> Damian and Anya's friendship improved after the hijacking, and while they still bicker, it's not anything major. Loid points out the Desmonds wouldn't consider Anya and Damian deserves to make his own choice. After Loid "set Anya free", Anya looks at Damian (reading his mind? Judging the situation?) and decides she wants to dance with him. This is a decision she made of her own accord. Throughout the story, Anya obediently followed Loid's requests for Plan B, but when she is permitted (and requested) to "not go for Plan B" and can choose whoever she wants, she still goes for Damian.

Then Anya fought tooth and nail to be Damian's dance partner. It didn't matter that she looked undignified or tore her dress. She just really, really wanted to win. And she shocked even Loid. She won this part without any interference from Loid or reading minds. Anya's just that determined.

And then we have the second most insane panel of this chapter.

No sparkles! No mind reading sparkles! She knows! Because of course she does! While the other girls see it as an opportunity to swoon over Damian, Anya gets straight to the point. She didn't do it with fanfare, didn't do it with a smug "heh". She just said what she knows. Because she knows Damian.

Tying in with what she knows about Damian's family, Damian's words seem like a confession. He's already admitted to her that he's not close with his parents (bus hijacking chapter), and he's now openly envious of a commoner's family. Then he tries to walk it back but Anya knows the truth.

So she also tells him a truth. A truth that she keeps hidden from her own family, but will tell the boy she calls a hero.

Anya openly values Damian as more than an asset to Plan B and no longer grudgingly puts up with him. Sure, he's still a jerk sometimes, but Anya's also seen his nicer/ more vulnerable sides. If Damian is nice to her, she will be nice to him. If he tells her a secret, she'll also tell him a secret. They are similar kids with similar motivations. And Damian is important/special enough that Anya told him her most well guarded secret (which can be dangerous!! Given he's the son of the "evil superboss"!!).

I don't Anya likes Damian in the way he likes her (ie. not puppy love), but she definitely cares about him and almost has a soft spot for him? Like when she truly wanted to dance with him. And she told him that his mom loves him AFTER Damian said something mean (while reading his true thoughts).

While Damian frustrates Anya and she says she doesn't like him (for good reasons lmao he's still annoying), she is willing to be kind and vulnerable. She sees through Damian's snark and arrogance. Almost like she wants to encourage the softer side of Damian to come out instead of his prickly defensive side.

This is subtly different from the fanon in the initial Damianya boom of spring/summer 2022, in which it was jealous/pining/tsundere Damian x smug/annoyed/oblivious Anya. They aren't just bickering push-and-pull frenemies with romcom potential, they're kids with a real connection and they're willing to be soft in front of each other while toughening up around everyone else (eg. Damian instantly calming down in the cake chapter when the other kids left). Anya has always been special to Damian, but now Damian is also special to Anya even without Strix. And he will likely continue to be special. <3

Thinking of a little story where Anya and Becky sign up for dance classes at Eden. Loid approves because he hopes Anya can get a Stella for stellar dancing. But Anya isn’t very good and she just likes to wear a tutu and twirl around and hang out with her bestie. (They all suck. They are six.)

There’s a Christmas dance recital though coming up. Usually Yor takes Anya to practice but one day Loid finally has time and he does and he hangs out to watch (and brings oranges and homemade peanut brittle squares and juice boxes) Soon enough he knows all the dance moms, and they all think he’s so handsome and charming and they immediately gossip about the Forgers marriage. But Loid is too focused on practice to notice. The Head Dance Mom is leading rehearsals and she is very critical of Anya and gives her own kid special treatment. She’s super high strung and fake polite in that rich people way, she tells Becky her feet are too big for dancing and insults Anya for always twirling and being off rhythm. And Loid is super offended and pissed like your kid can’t even do a basic pliè right, Patricia. He just really doesn’t like this lady.

So he decides to help Anya and Becky improve and they practice at home. Loid makes space in the living room and stands in the middle with his toes pointed and his hip out and walks through the dance okay girls… 5,6,7,8… and pointe and twirl, right kick, left kick, into a jump…

And Yor is watching from the kitchen like 😧🤭

Then it’s finally time for the Christmas recital and Yor and Loid volunteer to help with the set. Yor thought it would be nice to help Anya but Loid and Patricia are having artistic differences over the set and the cardboard gingerbread men. Patricia didn’t like how Yor carved and painted them and Loid is so mad. Santa’s elves are going to scare all the kids with that paint job, Patricia. He makes sure to praise Yor’s gingerbread men and pull her for a quick kiss center stage for all the other moms to see.

Anya looks sooooo cute in her Christmas tutu with her candy cane prop and Yor is taking a million pictures and Anya’s like “doesn’t Anya look super cute?!” and doing the silliest, cutest poses. Her and Becky pose for pictures together too 👯

Backstage Loid is with the dance moms working on finishing touches and he whips out the hairspray and puts Anya’s hair into the perfect top bun. All the dance moms ask him to help with their kids hair and Loid does so kindly, shooting smug looks at Head Dance Mom and thinking “your kids hair looks like crap, you call that a top knot”

Finally the show begins and Loid and Yor sit nervously in their seats as the lights turn on and the music starts. Anya and the other girls come out in a straight line and start the routine and Anya is there on stage with her adorable sparkly tutu and her perfect hair. She’s got a big smile on her face and she’s slightly off rhythm and she adds an extra twirl when she shouldn’t, but she’s adorable and Yor is crying from the cuteness and even Loid tears up at how cute his daughter is and he shakes his head when she almost kicks her shoe off but he’s so proud of her.

And then the show is over and Loid gives Anya The Performer a bouquet of roses and they take a million more pictures and no one is thinking about missions or Stellas.

(There isn’t a Stella for first grade dancing, so Patricia’s kid didn’t get one either. Ha.)

Spy x Family Ch. 111: Anya's Mama

So many things for such a little chapter, don't you think?

We saw baby Anya and we finally caught a glimpse of Anya's biological mother.

Something to notice is that they're both wearing hospital gowns, which makes me think they were in the lab and, because of that, we can solidify the theory about Anya being born there. It could be that her mom was pregnant when captured or that they experimented on her and she got pregnant while in that lab. A secret third option is that Anya's mom actually volunteered for the experiments (maybe she was a scientist herself or a family member coaxed her into doing it), although I find this unlikely due to her comment about the butterfly. Either way, I have a feeling we won't know for a very long time.

Mindreading or no mindreading?

Endo chose not to let us know about that explicitly. However, look at this panel:

I don't think Anya's mom is talking here. I think she's thinking this. Because of that, I do suspect Anya can read her mama's mind. She doesn't fully understand it but those words are inside her memory.

However, as you can see in the panel below, we don't see her classic mindreading sparkles. So, it' could also be that she saw her mom getting sad or nostalgic and she wanted to hug her. Kids are very perceptive of their parent's emotions.

If you ask me, I think she was born with that ability. Either her mom was also a telepath who was being studied during her pregnancy or she was experimented while pregnant and gained and passed her abilities to her daughter.

All this makes me consider that maybe Anya wasn't experimented on like many of us believed for a long time. Maybe those scientists were just studying her/observing her in order to understand and try to replicate her abilities. I'm really hoping Endo will go this route, it's less cruel. In any case, keeping someone so young as a case study is still wrong and I don't think Twilight and Yor will like this.

Anya's Mama

I'm talking about Yor, of course.

First of all, I think Endo summed up what motherhood is about in this panel:

It's not exactly that a mom can read their kid's mind, but it's something close. As a mom you get to know your child inside and out. When you take care of them, see them grow and love them with all your heart, you simply learn to "read every part of them."

That's how we know that Yor loves Anya and that she is her mom.

I don't know what happened to Anya's biological mom; she could be gone or still be alive. I'm sure we'll find out eventually. However, no matter what happens, I think Anya will always have that unconditional love from Yor.

There's a prevalent theme about motherhood in sxf: a mother as a safe place. Yor has mentioned it several times; she knows her job is to protect Anya and Anya feels safe when her mama is around (even Twilight notices this.)

I think the bond between them will get stronger as the story moves forward. Come on, it's pretty obvious Anya is Yor's baby, she's already head over heels and she decided she wanted to be a good mother since day 1. Also, a big theme in the story are bonds that are forged, and chosen family. In the story, blood ties sometimes are complicated (look at the Desmonds, for example.)

I'm not fluent in Japanese, but I am aware that Anya calls Yor and Twilight, Haha and Chichi, which is an English equivalent of "my mom and my dad", instead of just "mom and dad." In case you are wondering, Anya did call her biological mom, the right way: "mama."

At some point in the story, I think we will see Anya call Yor and Twilight, mama and papa the right way. I suspect this will be the moment when they will realize they're no longer a pretend family, but a real one. And it'll be simply beautiful 💖

A Few Questions

Whenever we learn something about one of the Forger's past, we are usually left with even more questions like:

Where's Anya's mom now?: I think either she's still a prisoner somewhere or she's dead. And if she's alive, does she know Anya lives?

How did Anya escape? She was so little! She must have had help from someone.

Who is Anya's dad? Maybe a scientist? A prisoner of war? Or was artificial insemination possible back then?

Is Anya her real name? I'm wondering if her mom called her differently. Here are some theories about her name. I suspect this will be important and I wouldn't be surprised if Anya is not her real name, almost as a foil of Twilight's name and story.

And also, there's a gap between that scene/memory and when Anya gets adopted by Twilight. We know thanks to Franky that in the year before Twilight adopted her, she was previously adopted by four different families, however, there's still a chunk of time missing.

I estimate she's probably 2 years old in that memory, she was 4 when she was adopted by those other families, and 5 years old when Twilight became her dad. That leaves 2 full years blank. Where was she during that time?

I'm finally home from my vacation and able to discuss the latest SxF chapter...all I can say is, I have a lot to say! I'll start with funny stuff first before I move on to analyzing...

Anya was especially hilarious in this chapter - where do I even start with her gremlin-ness? 😂 First off, there's her calling the butlers "henchlings' henchlings" (in the Japanese version, I believe she's using some mispronunciation of 弟子, which means "follower")

Then she calls out Twilight for being, well, Twilight, even giving his behavior its own acronym 🤣

She feels bad for George because his family isn't important enough for Twilight's aforementioned Twilighting 😅

And this doozy of a nickname for Bill!

In the Japanese version, she calls him something like "old man bully who hits people with balls" 😆

But joking aside, we get these profound words from Jeeves that seem to resonate with Twilight.

His words remind Twilight of the hypocrisy of his position: on the one hand, he agrees with Jeeves and wants the children to be able to grow up as they wish, without being burdened by the expectations of their parents. But that's exactly what he's been corralling Anya towards this whole time...doing whatever's best for Operation Strix, regardless of what may be best for her.

This scene reminded me of his musings when they first took Bond to the dog park; another case where he's aware that the morals he believes in are the opposite of his actions and yet...he continues with the mission.

I also think it's great that the other parents thank Anya for her bravery during the bus hijacking. Even if their kids don't act grateful, the parents should be on their behalf. Perhaps seeing this praise for Anya right before his eyes is what made Twilight feel even more guilt upon hearing Jeeves' words - he's seeing more and more what an exceptional girl she is despite not having the perfect traits for his mission, and yet he's still manipulating her (not realizing she's aware of the mission and wants to help).

But on that note, it's nice to see that George's dad and Becky's mom somewhat agree with Jeeves. As of now, I'd say out of all the Eden kids we've gotten to know, George and Becky seem to have the most decent families. I especially like how Becky's dad is adorably doting, to the point where he gets crushed when Becky asks Yor for help instead of him 😅 Also Martha having to reel him in, lol.

But despite being an overbearing dad, at least he isn't quick to jump on Loid supposedly "seducing" Becky 😂 He seems to not take it seriously, which is good since Becky is the one making the moves with her silly little girl crush.

Also Emile thinking Yor is pretty~ I'm surprised he had something nice to say about anyone connected to Anya, lol. I really want a chapter where Yor takes all the Eden kids on a playdate and they start thinking she's awesome like Becky does, even Damian.

Speaking of Yor, just when I thought she would be demoted to "background character" for whatever arc is coming, the last few panels give the impression that she'll have her next moment in the spotlight soon! Is she just destined to always catch Melinda when she falls? 😅

Not only are we getting more Yor/Melinda interactions next time, but also (hopefully) more of Anya reading Melinda's mind. I know there's theories floating around of how Donovan may be able to read minds and is possibly the one behind the experiments done on Anya, and that Melinda may have some psychic abilities too. Also some relation to that Arnold Crowley character introduced several chapters ago. I'm not good at theorizing, so I'll leave it to fans who are better with that kind of stuff 😅 But I think they're all good theories and I'm keeping my fingers crossed we'll get more insight into Desmond secrets very soon!

...but unfortunately the next new chapter won't be until November 25th, so we'll have to be satisfied with theories for now!

Anime only watchers and people who aren't caught up with the Manga, BEWARE... Cuz I'm about to discuss Spy X Family Mission 112 (Part 1)... You have been warned...! 👌

[SPOILERS AHEAD FROM THIS POINT ON]

THIS CHAPTER WAS BOTH FUN & FUNNY!!! 😆 Plus, IT'S ANOTHER MUTI-PARTER!?!? 😵 (We haven't had a chapter split into multiple parts since Mission 67, back in 2022!! 😌)

That's right folks, we got ourselves another chapter split into parts, and it's a fun one so far!! 😄 Endo has done this three times before this chapter with Missions 58 (2 parts), 62 (3 parts), and 67 (2 parts); so now I wonder how many parts will this chapter have (my guess is that it's gonna be a two parter...! 👌😌) But enough of all that mumbo jumbo that probably only I care about, let's finally talk about the chapter in question, shall we...? 😉

So this chapter begins with Twilight trying to wake up Anya because it's time for her to return to Eden...!! 😲

But... Since Anya is freaking relatable AS HELL, she doesn't want to go and tries to come up with anything to get out of going back to school, even claiming to be sick...!! 👌😌 Loid, of course, doesn't believe her, but since Yor is the best mom ever, she wants to make absolutely sure that Anya isn't actually sick, which leads to this:

At school, Anya (who actually thought about this before Twilight woke her up) tries to find out from Damian if his dad can truly read minds by asking "What's your dad like? Is he super scary?", but...:

...It didn't really work, so Anya gave up immediately... 😅 This girl, I swear...!! 😌

Then, two of Anya's classmates come to greet her and Becky, AND NOW THEY FINALLY HAVE NAMES!! 😆

We've seen Connie and Meg pop up in several other chapters before this one, but now they are officially out of the "Characters Who Have Shown Up Multiple Times, But Don't Have A Name" Club...!! 🎊 And I'm especially excited that Connie has a name now because she was featured in one of the early Omakes and even Franky commented on her (as seen in the image below):

Which in turn had made me wonder if Anya and her would eventually become friends at some point...!! 😄 Well, that time might be now because Anya was just reminded that she and everyone else will all be in different classes now (though, Becky specifies that they'll only be in different classes for the subjects that were on the test, so at least they'll still have some classes together...!)

Speaking of which, we see that Anya and Damian have at least have Language Studies together, so that's good...!! 😁 Then, Anya heads to her next class with a bunch of new faces and some that we recognize, including Arnold Crowley and Connie, who got pushed by someone, then Anya read her mind and well...:

...She's actually kinda scary...! 😰

So um, yeah... I'm not 100% sure if her and Anya will be friends quite yet...! 😅 Then, we get introduced to two other kids; some prince from the north named Tertius...:

[SPY x FAMILY Chapter 107] Part 2 (Inner thoughts & Family matters)

As we all know, Loid always thinks about Operation Strix whenever and whereever he hangs out with his family

Actually, he was quite good at predicting! He thought that Melinda might be here in this festival, and he was right!

In the next chapter, she temporarily worked as a newbie fortune teller (because she is someone who believes in occult stuffs, mystical things..., or maybe as we believe, her husband is the main reason)

And Anya again, competing with Yor about Plan B & C 🤣 He won't abandon you, Anya.

Kinda smart for Anya to think that she can learn secrets from Damian's family through mind-reading... Damian is quite an innocent boy, and he hardly thinks too much about his family, it'll be hard to read him, though, when all he thinks of when he meets you, is you, Anya 🤭

If we actually going through many chapters about Damian, his parents or brother never even hanging out with him for fun stuffs. I understand that his parents are important people, barely made an appearance in public, his father is a Chairman, his mother is a Lady Patriot. They are busy and can't be with him... His brother as well, being busy with school works, barely talks with Damian about anything other than stay inside his room like a hikikomori (depressed man has social problems)

Aww, he was hoping to see his mom, too!!!

Do you even realise, Melinda and his servant Jeeves always there to support Damian, I mean, he is a kid as well. Even though we mostly saw Jeeves with Damian to escort him; after the Red Circus Hijack Arc, Melinda started to be more open to him! She started making food for Damian, worrying about her son at school...

I think Anya has limited vocabulary, it's funny that Anya called Damian's friends's servants as henchlings' henchlings :)))

Loid still thinks about Strix, get straight to work immediately! 😁

Like, why didn't he have any fun with his 'family', he had a "wild" childhood, after all. I just thought that, he should spend some time hanging out with his family to fill up the blank space of his childhood...

Finally, our sweetheart's BFF & super rich lady, Becky and our sumpreme bold friend with military dad, Bill!

Look at this huge bias of Twilight: Becky's family and Bill's family are so detailed analysed, and yet, George's family was completely ignored🙂‍↕️

Have to admire Endo's work so detailed in the characters' inner thoughts, especially Loid. He's a complicated man with thoughts about mission, surroundings, family... Anything comes to his mind, he will think like, a lot😇

Anya was loved by his classmates' family~ Ever since the hijack, she was quickly well-known and loved by her classmates~ An ordinary girl with superpowers, being loved by families with high social standards! I suppose letting Anya studying this class was a great decision, Loid! He not only gets to know more about the Desmonds, but other families as well!!!

Loid seemed very suspicious about Jeeves... He's hiding something...

Loid just overcomplicated stuffs, again.

Look at the way Loid sees Anya, it's like he only sees her, nothing else surrounding her matters...

Loid must have cared Anya very much, if you remember episode 1, Loid wished for this world once ended this cold war live in peace, where no children will have to cry to beg to suffer. And he was actually emphasizing on Anya, even though the word 'children' was in general, but he actually specifically talking about Anya, ever since he met her 🥺

Loid's inner thoughts are pretty much complicated. Understanding that he is a spy, he can't just be simple-minded, he worries about other stuffs as well. Throughout the mission, he worries first about Anya's fun time, home, care, school, education, friends; even go to lengths 'forcing' her to say 'sorry' to Damian for hitting him on the first day at school; Stella and Tonitrus, social activities...🫨

He may seemed cold towards Donovan, suspicious about everything around him, his colleagues, spies, problems with the Operation; but he always manages to have the time to spend with Anya and his new family!🥰

Bonus: Yor seemed quite in this chapter, huh? She only started talking when she met Melinda for fortune telling.

“Yeah mom it’s been good here Ewen and Emile are still dorming with me.” Damian said to his mother over the phone.

“Yeah now I’m going to head to the gymnasium Forger has a wrestling tournament coming up and I’m showing her some throws she can use.

“Yes wrestling. We’ve been helping each other practice for a week now. She helping me get better at scrambling when my judo matches go to the ground”

“Thoughts? What do you mean? Wait! Mother don’t make it weird! It’s just wrestling! I never thought about that! You’re worse than Blackbell! And stop giggling!” He shouted embarrassed as he hung up the phone.

Later at the gymnasium.

Anya was already on the mats doing a light warm up when Damian arrived. She had her hair braided and in a ponytail, and wearing a matching pink rash guard and shorts.

“Hey Anya are you ready?” Damian asked in his work out shirt and shorts sporting the school colors.

Anya gave him the most annoyed look he’s seen on her.

“Clock tower.” She said only audible enough for him to hear.

‘Pops has me in his sights doesn’t he?’ He sent a mind message to her paranoid that the gym was now wired tapped.

“Don’t worry mama is up there too right now. Papa won’t even get close to his rifle.” She said too casually for his liking.

“First mother and now your parents. Great.”

“You know this wouldn’t have happened if you just accepted that I’m stronger than you.” She said as if he personally offended her.

“First you challenged me when you said I was a nerd in my gi.”

“You still are.” She said with a smug smile.

“……And second never.” He responded as he started touching his toes.

“Well I’ll make you admit it one day.” She said boldly.

“That’ll be after Hell freezes over. And are you ready to practice now?” He asked with a small smile ready to go.

“Let’s get it!” She said with a ready to go mood, and no longer annoyed by her father’s protectiveness.

Meanwhile on the roof of the clock tower Yor had Loid in a full nelson restraining him from his sniper rifle

“Let me go Yor. I’m just watching them.”

“Then use your binoculars.”

“But our baby!”

“Is growing up! And you like Damian, Loid”

“I do but he’s still a teenage boy!” He pleaded his case desperately.

Btw, it is interesting to note that Anya calls her biological mother as "Mama". While she calls Yor as "Haha" a way to call your mom when you were talking to other people.

It was also interesting to note that apparently Loid didn't think of "mind reading" ability as utter BS. He was at least shown to be concerned at how Yor can 'read' Anya's mind.

And was shown as glad when Yor confirms that it was mere observation of hers.

Yeah, figured I might as well since I'm bored at school. I guess it wouldn't really be headcanons though since Astra is my oc so what I say would be canon but idk what else to call this lmao- Maybe with this I can get more people interested in her for asks ╮(￣ω￣;)╭ /nf

Let's say reader's pronouns are They/Them and use She/Her for Astra just because-

To start, you two definitely met the same 'night' she arrived as a survivor.

When you started dating, she was more chill with the honeymoon phase.

She doesn't care much about PDA. Whatever makes you happy, makes her happy.

As a side note, congrats on getting yourself a deity for a girlfriend!

As you'd expect, loving Astra is pretty innocent. But if you wanna get a bit more risky, she'll at least request privacy first.

She'd be a bit more Vanilla at first but teach her about the things you're into and she might pick up on some of them herself!

She just wouldn't like anything that would hurt you. She hates even the thought of you or herself hurting, even for pleasure. (Unless you're talking love bites-)

Astra never had to cook so don't expect her to know how to but she'll try to make you your favourite snacks and drinks when you're in a round and she isn't. She wants you to feel better if you get killed or lost and congratulate you if you won.

She definitely asked Elliot and/or 007n7 for help understanding how to cook/bake. She doesn't want to disappoint you but wants it to be a surprise the first time she makes you something.

Family Portrait light novel spin off, Novel Mission 1: Anya and Damian hold hands while hiding from the rain in a cave.

Chapter 61: The handkerchief chapter. Anya lets Damian borrow her handkerchief and gets a bolt in his place. Seeing this, Damian wants to tell the truth, but Anya stops him. Damian claims that the "A" monogrammed on his handkerchief is the "A" in "Damian". Anya mistakenly thinks Damian is going to pay her back with cake.

Chapter 66: Anya learns Yor knows Melinda and starts a battle of the friendship schemes. Becky gives Anya a yakisoba burger to hold in her mouth and instructs her to bump into Damian. Damian avoids her but the burger ends up on his head.

Chapter 67 Part 1: Anya pesters Damian about the cake and tells them their mom are friends. Damian thinks about his preschool secrets and Anya thinks she's getting some good Sy-on boy gossip.

Chapter 69: Start of bus hijacking arc. Damian prepared cake for Anya but his friends eat it before he can give it to her.

Chapter 70: Anya and Becky hatch a plan to tell the outside world they're being held hostage. A concerned Damian throws them a note asking them what they're doing. They tell him and Damian offers to be the distraction. Anya tosses their SOS message outside the window and is caught, and the terrorists place a bomb around her neck.

Chapter 71: Anya learns the bomb is fake. The terrified thoughts from her classmates overwhelm her, and Damian mistakenly thinks Anya is scared. Damian tells the hijackers to attach the bomb to him instead ("The bomb on her neck, attach it to me instead!"). They put another (fake) bomb on Damian without removing Anya's. Damian is terrified, so Anya holds his hand to reassure him it'll be okay.

Chapter 75: After they get off the bus, Damian apologies to Anya for making fun of her. Anya responds by saying Damian was "super cool" as well. She says Damian offering to take the bomb for her was a "hero move". Damian calls them friends. He reveals to Anya that he barely has a relationship with his parents.

Chapter 76: Anya reflects on meeting Melinda and thinks Damian's family is weird. Anya becomes popular for her heroics. Becky teases Damian about him getting jealous that someone is going to take Anya away. He shivers at the thought, then vehemently denies it. He insults Anya and she gets teary-eyed, so he says sorry and he'll bring some candy to make up for it.

Chapter 78.5 / Short Mission 10: Ewen and Anya get excited about space exploration and play together. Damian gets jealous and claims "When I'm a politician, I'll make it so people can take trips to the moon whenever they want". Anya seemingly doesn't hear him.

Chapter 88: Cake chapter. Damian decides to repay the handkerchief debt by giving Anya "the most elite tea cakes ever made, intended for royalty". Damian is embarrassed by the debt wants to do it in secret. Anya reads his mind and passes him a note telling him to meet her alone during break. Emile and Ewen assume she wants to fight Damian. Becky thinks it's romantic. Damian and Anya run away from their friends. Damian gets annoyed and thinks about tossing the cakes. Anya holds onto his arm and says "I don't want you to go! (Without giving me the cakes)". Damian is about to give Anya the cakes when Henderson confiscates the cakes and sends them to detention. They eat the tea cakes during detention. Damian wonders why Anya asked him to come alone if it wasn't to fight and Anya gets creeped out by his mental image of her.

Chapter 95: End of class gala. Beforehand, Anya asks Damian to dance and he refuses. At the dance, Anya and Damian both have multiple people asking them for a dance. Loid is secretly at the party. Anya reads his mind and hears that Loid wants her to pick whoever she wants to dance with. Anya declares she wants to dance with Damian.

Chapter 96: Ewen and Emile start a series of challenges in which the winner will get to dance with Damian. Anya finishes the first challenge with help from Loid, which concerns Emile and Ewen. Damian tells them they do this fair and square. The final challenge is a Damian trivia quiz which Anya gets points because she can read minds. Anya wins when she correctly answers who Damian loves the most— his father (seemingly without using her powers). They dance together. Anya tells him her father made her practice with him. Damian says he was taught by an instructor and admits to her that her family sounds nice. When Damian accuses Anya of reading minds because she knew specific trivia about him, Anya confesses that yes, she can read minds. Damian doesn't believe her.

Chapter 104: Damian asks if Jeeves is blabbering to his mother about "weird stuff" such as Anya.

Chapter 107: Winter festival chapter. The Forgers go to the festival and meet up with the Eden kids and their parents/caretakers.

Chapter 108: Anya tells fortune teller Melinda that she wants to be friends with Damian even though she "hates him because he bullies her". Anya tells Damian that his mom loves him too.

Chapter 112 Part 1: Anya and Damian are in the same class (Class F) for language studies.

Chapter 112 Part 2: Damian looks shocked when Anya attracts the attention of two boys.

Looks like we got another family ooting but at a festival this time!

Loid is out here to get closer to Melinda while Anya gets to play at an amusement park, so everyone (supposedly) wins. Sadly it seems the abandonment issues have once again reared it's ugly head.

Alright, I'm not gonna put all the pictures, but essentially Loid realizes how much Anya has been making connections in her own way & how that would benefit The Mission™.

Jeeves makes a speech on how he wants the kids to go down their own path & the parents (or at least Mrs. Blackbell & Mr. Glooman) are receptive to it. This makes Loid feel guilty since he's using & pushing Anya towards his own goals.

I kinda wonder if maybe Loid is going to try to keep Anya out of mission stuff & have it lead to a misunderstanding that she's not needed anymore? Probably not, but we'll just have to wait & see.

Moving on, we got fortune tellers. I got a bad feeling about this.

So back in chapter 95 we got to see Arnold Crowley who is a reference to Occultist Aleister Crowley. It looks like Arnold (or maybe his parents) do dabble in more supernatural matters. Or at the very least, really good at cold reading. I'm hoping the Crowley's don't have any abilities like Anya does & it really is just cold reading for them.

On the brighter side, we got the psychic version of Moon Moon:

Lo & Behold it's Yor's girlfriend Melinda! I guess those satanic ritual rumors probably stemmed from this. Is there a Project Apple connection? Idk, probably not (hopefully).

I guess this is gonna be the next arc where we have all the kids together; that's pretty neat! Since we saw the sign for Magical★ Crowley, my guess is we'll probably see Arnold at the festival too.

I wonder if they'll all have class together too when school starts again?
