Pridecember #2: Veil
All this time yu-gi-oh! was teaching us, about heart, about dedication, and about how gay love can pierce through the veil of death and save the day. Thank you, Kazuki Takahashi.
I just want to point out that Kaiba disappeared in a kneeling position but appeared lying, but not side lying, nor his face on the ground, but perfectly lying.

Sporty
Like a cat following a mouse, precise, purposeful, focused, timid and soundless Atem sneaked into the basement where Seto was currently doing his fitness routine.
He’d done this for quite some time now, whenever Seto came down here to train. He loved to watch him do his exercises. Not just because he could see his body at work, see his muscles tensing up and limping in the steady rhythm of whatever exercise he was doing at the moment but because he seemed even more endearing than usual. Sure he always was a commanding presence, especially when he dueled or when they were alone together but this was still something else.
Nevertheless Atem didn’t really know why he was so addicted to watch Seto himself.
He peeked into the room and when he saw that Seto had his back turned to him, he got bold enough to step further into the room.
In the blink of an eye, Seto turned around and threw a towel at Atem.
Atem jumped in surprise and the towel slapped him directly in the face.
“Stop stalking me. You’re not half as good at it as you think you are.” Seto looked at him, as if he was scolding a little child but there was an amused flicker in his eyes that grew along with the deepening of Atem’s blush. “You could just join me.”
“Join you?”
“It’d do you good to do some work out and stay in shape.”
“Nah, I’m a natural.” It wasn’t that Atem totally objected to being sporty but he rather left physical activity to Seto. He was still a passionate rider though.
“Are you?” Seto raised a slightly sweaty eyebrow, walked over and pat his boyfriend’s belly with teasing affection. “You’re plumping out.”
Atem slapped his hand away and glared at him. “I’m not plumping out. It’s just… food is different here than in the Netherworld and I have to get used to it.”
“You mean you have to eat less and move more.” Atem shrugged while Seto walked to his mat and got into the position to do pushups without waiting for an answer.
He stared at Atem though, and he knew that gleam in his eyes, that challenging, arrogant, teasing smirk he directed at him and that got under Atem’s skin no matter how many times it was directed at him. He kept his eyes on him while he did his training, groaning softly and breathing hard by the second. It was very distracting.
For a moment Atem watched him but then he decided to change the game a little.
He walked up to Seto, knelt down beside him and lied down with his whole weight across Seto’s back.
Seto stifled a groan but kept his position.
“Get off of me.“
“You said I should join you.”
“You’re impeding me.”
“I help you train.”
“By lying on me?”
“Is it because I’m on top of you again? I thought we were past this.”
“Atem, I swear to you...”
“I’ll be your weights. You can lift me, instead of them.”
Another groan.
“I’m not much heavier than the weights you usually exercise with, so it shouldn’t be a problem, right?”
“You’re not a weight for me.”
“You’re words betray your actions, Kaiba. You’re sweating and breathing faster than usual. It’s exhausting, isn’t it? Keeping this position for so long.”
“You are exhausting. But that’s not what I meant.”
Kaiba paused a moment and Atem actually thought he was going to throw him over. But suddenly he simply continued his pushups, with even more speed and intensity than before, with such dynamic that Atem had to cling to his torso if he didn’t want to fall off of him.
“Seto, stop. You’ll strain your muscles.”
Of course, Seto didn’t stop. It would mean a weakness if he did. But likewise Atem refused to move and stayed in his position.
He’d challenged Seto, and he’d accepted – if Atem backed off now, Seto would be furious.
This whole ordeal lasted for about two minutes before Seto finally stopped the exercise.
He lay on his stomach, practically gasping for air and Atem carefully rolled off of him. As soon as he could Seto turned onto his back and took a deep breath. Atem shook his head with a chuckle. He placed his arm and head on Seto’s chest, trapping him beneath his body once again.
He smiled up at him.
“You’re an idiot.”
Seto laughed breathlessly and ran his free hand through his hair before he buried it in Atem’s hair.
“Let me tell you something.”
“Hm?”
“You never was and never will be my weights. Quite the contrary. It’s because of you that I am where I am now, that I never stop striving for the next level.”
Atem moved his fingertips over Seto’s collarbones with a nostalgic smile.
“I said something similar to you at Battle City.”
“Huh. I only recall you lecturing me on hatred and friendship.”
“Yeah…” He chuckled. “I didn’t say it out loud sadly... But it’s true.”Seto said nothing but raised an eyebrow and Atem understood it as an offer to continue. “And it’s the same for me. If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t be where I am now.”
“That’s certainly true.”
“I wouldn’t be here, lying in your arms. I’m glad I am. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.”
“As if I’d let you be anywhere else.”
They leaned into each other and shared a long, intense kiss that left Seto even more breathless and Atem even more flushed than before.
They stayed there on the ground like this for a few more moments, just gazing into each other’s eyes and relished in their proximity.
Atem was the first to break the silence. He rubbed Seto’s arms and he grimaced a little.
“How about I give you a massage to ease your stiffness a little?”
“Yeah. Sounds good.”
“And… next time, I could join you for real.”
Seto smirked. “Then let’s find out who can more.”

Pridecember 2019 Day 4 - Disney
I have only one mindset for Disney. Sleeping Beauty.
One of these days I will properly design Kaiba’s ‘eternal sleep bedroom’.

Day 2-Veil
(Going with the Manga where it looks like Seto was the last one to get the invitation and didn’t even get to see the Ceremonial Duel. I imagine he was very bitter and upset when he found out)
“I will rip a hole in the veil so big that they will never be able to take him from me again!”
Those were the last words Seto shouted at Yugi Muto when he came upon their group outside of the tomb where they abandoned the soul of the Pharaoh. The group had the audacity to look shocked and guilty when he’d accused them of being terrible friends for not even trying to stop him. All they did to defend themselves was babble on about destiny.
Seto made sure they had a terrible time getting back through customs. In both countries.
He’d started working feverishly from then on. If it weren’t for Mokuba and his staff he wouldn’t have eaten or slept the entire time. It took him months to figure out where he needed to go and what he needed to do. Even longer to gather all the pieces he’d needed.
Then in a flash all his hope was taken from him again when Yugi put the millennium puzzle around his neck and the pharaoh didn’t come. Seto had lashed out all his pain on the person he held responsible for everything and was then forced to duel with Yugi to save the world.
Seto thought he was dead but then felt arms around him. Holding him afloat when he thought he would drown. A golden light keeping him warm and safe in the darkness while whispering to him what he needed to do.
Seto felt at peace. When he woke up he let Yugi and his friends have their victory. He went back to work, but this time he was slow and meticulous. Making sure every detail was exactly as he pictured it. Then, instead of ripping, he created the hole in the veil between worlds by shooting his pod through like a bullet. It tore for him like paper.
Then he found him. The pharaoh.
Atem.
They’d exchanged smiles in greeting, then they’d battled. Magic and science clashing in a spectacular display.
Dueling lead to kissing which lead to them falling into bed and Seto letting Atem take him and then taking the Pharaoh in turn. The smell of their scents mixing together lulled Seto to sleep and in that moment he vowed that no matter which side of the veil he had to spend the rest of eternity he would never allow anyone or anything cause him leave Atem’s side again.
For the rest of eternity.

Roses
The door closed behind him with a soft thud, that betrayed the absolute disaster this day had been.
He started to hate these overseas meetings with passion. Not only because they were boring and tedious but because they kept him away from more important things.
Being away from Mokuba was strange enough but having to sleep in a bed alone, without Atem next to him was a whole different matter. He'd gotten so used to his warmth, his soft breathing, the tickling of his locks against his chin that it now seemed too cold and too calm for him to sleep comfortable alone.
He groaned at his own thoughts
Pathetic.
He needed a shower and then he would prove to himself that he could sleep alone. He’d always slept alone before Atem and his years without him outnumbered the years with him. Although the years with him counted more.
But he couldn't call them now anyway, it was the middle of the night in Japan.
Not that he wanted to, of course.
But to his frustration the shower didn't help his aching. On the contrary it made it worse.
He slipped into the bathrobe and stepped back into the dark, unwelcoming hotel room.
By now he'd settled for another wakeful night. If he timed it right, he could call home in a few hours. They would probably scold him if they counted back the hours but to hell with that.
He pulled his phone out of his coat jacket and turned around to walk to the bed but he stopped, confused.
Three red roses were lying on his bed. Their rich color stood out against the white of the sheets, almost matching the way Atem's hair contrasted with his sheets at home. He stepped closer curiously and touched the soft petals and ran a fingertip over the thorns. A small smile crept onto his face.
A dangerous beauty.
There was no question about whose idea it was to have them put on his bed.
Atem always said he had missed him when he came back, had said that he wanted to come along a few times now but he had things of his own to do at home and couldn't leave so easily. Seto heard him say it every time, but he never really took it seriously, never really let the meaning sink in.
But now that he looked at these roses and slowly but surely grasped the sentiment behind them, he realized it had been true all along. The fact that Atem had organized this little surprise for him, from half a world away, showed him that the other really thought about him and cared and missed him when they were apart; those weren't just empty words, but true emotions. And however much he tried to suppress it, he felt a warmth and calm spread through him at the realization and he smiled quietly again.
He walked back into the room, took a glass from the minibar, filled it with water and put the roses in it and placed it on his nightstand.
As he crawled under the covers and took a last glance at the flowers he felt that maybe tonight, he would be able to sleep a little bit better after all.
~
"Oh! You're back early." Atem smiled brightly at him when he opened the door and saw Seto sitting on the couch. He had expected him two days later and didn't really know if his early homecoming was a good or a bad sign. Seto's brief nod didn't give him any new hints whatsoever.
"Welcome home." He walked up to him and stepped on his tiptoes to kiss him deeply. Or maybe he was devouring him because how dare he make him wait for 6 days and look so gorgeous in his Bordeaux colored dress shirt. He broke away for air and leaned in to kiss him again but Seto turned away before he could reach him.
Atem was baffled at the denied affection but Seto's smirk told him he would get an explanation soon.
Without a word, Seto grabbed his hand and pulled him to the bedroom. Atem's jaw dropped when he saw the... It wasn't exactly a mess but he couldn't come up with a better word for the fact that his bed was covered over and over in red rose petals. He couldn't even see his sheets or pillow anymore, the mattress looked as if it was made out of petals instead of feathers and the room was sweet with the smell of roses.
"What...?" Atem stared at Seto, incredulously. "Did- Did you do this?"
Seto shrugged and nodded. "Wanted to show you how it's done. Properly." Atem looked even more puzzled and Seto couldn’t hide his smirk anymore. "Three little roses look a little lost on a king-sized bed."
The gears turned in Atem's head, his jaw dropped some more and after another second, he started to laugh. When he’d calmed down again, he smiled at Seto with a twinkle in his eyes. "So, you got them?"
The faintest blush appeared on Seto's cheeks. "I did, yeah."
Atem grinned contentedly and pointed to the bed. "And this is your way of thanking me or...?"
Seto closed the distance between them, put his hands on Atem's waist and leaned down to whisper in his ear. "This is where we could be laying already if you wouldn't be talking so much."
"Oh?" Atem smirked and crossed his arms behind Seto's neck. "Then what are we waiting for?"
