CHICAGO: EMERGENCY ACTION - Solidarity with #Mizzou & #Yale
At little over five days ago University of Missouri (Mizzou) students including about 30 football players protested, refused to play and at one student staged a hunger strike. The students demanded the resignation of the school president in responseto rising racial tension, racist slurs and other slights directed towards the university's maginalized student population, articularly its Black students. Students all across the nation especially in Chicago know that what happened at Mizzou is not a isolated incident, it is the status quo at many Universities and colleges. Join the Black Youth Project100 Chicago Chapter, Loyola Black Voices, Loyola Students for Justice in Palestine, Young Chicago Authors, TheInternational Socialist Organization, Amnesty International Depaul University, Depaul Socialists, Depaul MOVE (Men Of Vision and Empowerment, and many more student and community organizations TOMORROW at 2PM at The Thompson Center to rally in solidarity with Mizzou, Yale, and Chicago students. We will voice our concerns about the institutioanl racism that exists in every facet of institutions of higher learning, and present demands of the university and College adminstrations. #ChiStudentsForMizzou #FeesMustFall #BlackLivesMatter Endorsors: UofC Graduate Students United (GSU), UofC Socioeconomic Diversity Alliance (SDA), Organization of Black Students (OBS), Assata's Daughters, Chicago Student Union.

COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY Sundial
#StudentBlackout
We stand in solidarity with the students in Mizzou, Yale, South Africa, and every other institution across the world where BLACK people are marginalized and threatened. We will not stand by as countless institutions and administrations fail to act in the face of gross injustice. We refuse to be your silent, respectable markers of diversity Today we will join BLACK people across the country as we wear ALL BLACK, ALL DAY. At 7:00PM Columbia students will gather at the Sundial in the middle of campus to heal, express ourselves, support each other, and most importantly celebrate the courage and resolve of our brothers, sisters, and siblings around the world. To those at other campuses and other institutions around the world, please join us in solidarity by organizing your own actions and spaces. This is a movement, not a moment. Spread the word.

McGraw-Hill Geography Textbook Recall Protest
After news went out regarding Texas Geography Textbooks rewriting history by describing slavery as "workers" migrating from Africa to the U.S., a coalition of students, teachers, and concerned residents of Houston has decided to work against this and ask for the recall of all 9th grade Geography Textbooks in which history is incorrectly written. Come join us at McGraw-Hill's Houston Head Quarters as we protest and demand the recall of these textbooks. Feel free to bring your own signs, however, we will have some available to you.
