Finally got around to making a blog just for writing!

I mean, what hasn’t been said about this asshole? He’s equal parts adorable and aggravating and you just want to bang your head against a wall - Why is he both?! You’ve lost it, you’ve officially lost it, and it’s all his fault.

First of all, he’s smug. The smuggest little shit you’ve ever met. He knows he’s a badass and he’s not holding back any more, not after everything he’s been through. (He will not be betrayed again.) He’s a bit narcissistic, defending himself with equal parts real and false bravado and refusing to take accountability for his transgressions. Don’t be fooled: deep within his heart is a broken boy who’s been spiraling into cynicism and insecurity since his mother dumped him. His life has been a landslide since, never safe or consistent, so he’s compensated for his vulnerability with power, as much power as he can fucking get.

Honestly, it’s gonna be an uphill battle with him for a long time. Even far later into your relationship, there will be some explosive times. He’d never hurt you, ever. He’d spiral into madness if he did. But we all know how sharp his tongue is and if you’re the more sensitive type, you’re gonna need to learn how to thicken your skin and roll with the punches quick. Ultimately, it will be worth it, but it’s gonna take a lot of work to get there.

Depending on when you meet him, you’ll experience him in three stages: 1) sweet summer child, 2) fuck the world, and 3) utterly unhinged. Your relationship will reflect these stages, too. If you meet him before the fall, he’ll be naive and curious. After the fall, with the Fatui, he’s cold and cunning. After the gnosis falls through, he’s feral and the most likely to become straight up yandere.

Really, there’s 2 main outcomes for a relationship with him make a simulator: Route 1 is the Healing Journey and Route 2 is The Unhinged Yandere. It’s a lot of pressure, but this progression ultimately depends on you.

Kuni after The Fall™, aka Scaramouche, is obviously a total jerk, but he’s more open to eventual healing compared to the Wanderer. Again, he’s a menace, loves to push buttons and hold his power over others. He doesn’t trust kindness or love and keeps himself safe from it by pushing it away. He’d never admit it, but he craves closeness, which is why he lashes out like he does. He hates that he wants it because of what it’s done to him, how it’s tortured him and twisted him throughout his long life. He just doesn’t see how he could possibly trust another person ever again. But all is not lost. No one ever is forever. There are choices to be made.

Your relationship with him will develop in stages. At first, you’re just a meatsack to him, another person to keep an eye on while he decides whether or not you’re a threat. He’s provocative, wants to get a rise out of you to see what you’ll do. If you take it in stride, he’s honestly a little floored. He just insulted you, why aren’t you pissed? Will poke and prod literally with a stick lmao and ends up finding you both frustrating and fascinating. This is the sticking point for him (haha): once you affect him, he’s stuck on you, wanting to find your weakness and fumbling in the process. Absolutely engages in banter battles and always wants the last laugh. But when that last laugh is yours, he’s totally the type to get all flustered and frustrated about it. Sticks out his tongue and calls you a dumb name hahaha just laugh and keep walking or he might throw a rock at you.

Very enemies-to-lovers trope lol probably more so “enemies” on his side because everyone is in his perspective. For you, unless he really grates you the wrong way, it’s more of a comedic slow-burn. He’s just so easy to tease! You’re the only person who can make him flush and spit at the same time, the only one who can get away with messing with him without being threatened with the sharp end of a blade. He hates that he keeps coming back to you for more. Even when he defeats you, he’s never sated. Why? What is it about you that’s got him stuck??

Eventually, he realizes that he actually enjoys being around you and goes into a cold sweat. How could this happen?! No, no, this can’t be real, it’s okay, it’s fine, calm down. There’s no way that’s true. It’s not true. It is true. He’s fucked. But he’s the best at being in denial so there’s that. Takes it out on you and even tries running away. Is secretly terrified of being in the same room as you, especially alone. Yet you keep managing to find him and, for a moment, he always finds himself letting some of his guard down with you. For a blissful moment, nothing else exists but your smile and laughter and how they came from him. And it hits him all at once that you enjoy being around him, too.

No, no, no. This is bad. This is wrong. He’s not meant for - this, whatever this is…What is this? He enjoys being around you and you enjoy being around him, okay, yes. But what does that mean? What does that make you? Are you…friends? No! No, he doesn’t have friends. They’ll only hold him back or break him down even more when they inevitably betray him. Friends make one weak and he. is. not. weak!

But it continues on, the banter and the laughing and eating together - eating together! He needs to stop this, but he keeps coming back to you. It drives him crazy. Like a bug caught in a web, he struggles to free himself until he wears himself out. Then, he takes an almost complete 180: he starts monitoring you to the point of stalking you. You may even catch him in the act and he’ll deny it, but you can feel his eyes on you just about everywhere you go. There’s two main reasons why he’s doing this. One, he wants to ensure that you’re not somehow going to stab him in the back or sell information about him. Two, and he’ll never admit this, is because he’s terrified of something bad happening to you. He’s become attached. He relies on your presence in his life now but he won’t admit it to himself yet.

It all comes to a head when he’s injured in a fight and you start to care for him. He’s so scared of being touched by you, feels so weak and exposed and enraged about it; all that trauma is bubbling up like bile and he’s overwhelmed and he breaks down right then and there, against his will.

“Don’t touch me!” he shouts, stumbling away from you like a wild animal blindly thrashing against the back wall of a cage. “I don’t need your help! I don’t need help! I’m not weak!”

The forest is dark with twilight and in his fervor, he can’t quite track his feet. You watch grimly as he collapses against a rock and buckles over, barely managing to hold himself up by his hands planted on the dirt. He crouches there, trembling and hyperventilating, and his fingernails claw the earth into his fists.

He has never loathed himself more. He swore he’d never break down like this. It’s pathetic. You must think he’s so amusing. And you’d be right. He was made to be. He’s just a puppet and a puppet’s sole purpose is to entertain. Who was he kidding, thinking he could be anything else?

And then you’re sinking down onto your knees in front of him and he freezes. He can’t find the power to hide from you. He’s utterly exposed; if you try to cut him down now, he doesn’t know how he’ll stop you, but he’ll die trying, won’t he? Why does the thought of hurting you make him feel even more pathetic?

“You’re one of the strongest people I know,” you tell him. “Even if you weren’t, I’d still want to be with you.”

Surely you’re only mocking him, using him - but when he looks up, all he sees is grief, like you can see into the core of him and are hurt by it. Stupid. How could you possibly understand? Why would you want to?

Fuck you for never having an ulterior motive. Fuck your compassion. His hollow body can’t hold warmth, but when he’s with you, he feels it. It scares him, reminds him of what he’s been through, and yet he can’t let go of you. The only time he feels like there’s anything more meant for him is when he’s with you.

Relationship Unlocked

Seriously, the day you embrace him in all of his mess is the day something in him finally breaks. He’s obsessed with you now, possessive and protective, panicked if you’re out of his sight for too long. A relationship is entirely new grounds for him and he’s terrified out of his mind by the implications of something so intimate. He thought he was broken before, but if he loses you, he’s certain he’ll crash completely. He needs you, needs to make sure you’re safe, that you’ll stay with him, that no one takes you away.

How things end up is really on you. If you’re freaked out, he gets more desperate and will eventually cross into full-on yandere territory. If you stand your ground and continue to treat him like you always have, open and honest, he’ll slowly, slowly settle down. He’s still terrified of losing you, but the more consistent you are, the more trust he’s willing to put in you.

It takes time and a lot of patience to temper your relationship. Kuni’s always gonna be a bit yandere, but depending on the route your relationship takes, that part of him will express itself with differing levels of intensity. Full-On Yandere Kuni completely loses himself to an animalistic nature, but Healing Kuni is way more chill.

Eventually, he’s back to bantering with you to the point of insult, but never goes too too far. He’ll spar with you and mock you and be the smuggest little shit you’ve ever met, but it’s more companionable than domineering now. He’s not interested in holding any power over you; he considers you equals now, though he’d never admit that outright.

(worried) Pathetic! You know, you’d die if this was a real fight!

(blushing) Would you stop staring at me? It’s creepy.

(smug) Ugh, you’re so annoying, wanting my attention all the time. Maybe if you do something to deserve it…

Still, it’s apparent in how he treats you that he worships you. He considers your opinions and insights, takes your preferences into account, pretends to just randomly finds trinkets you could surely find some use for even though you were just talking about it the other day, pouts when other people have your attention or when you’re too busy to spend all of your time with him, acts like a total grump when you love on him yet he’s also leaning into you and resting his chin on your shoulder - look, we’ll be here all day talking about how adorable he is. You are the center of his universe; the things he gives you - attention, adoration, kindness, consideration, protection - will only ever be given to you alone. And…maybe a kid. But not for a long time.

But he’s still got that mean streak in him that will never go away, especially when it comes to other people. He’s gone through too damn much to be with you just to lose you. No, fuck everyone else, if they think they can get closer to you than you are to him, he’s about to ruin. their. life.

The type to straight up shit talk someone to their face. Mocks them for thinking they had a shot in the dark with you. It’s painfully obvious that you’re into him and no one else, or maybe this moron is in denial? That’s okay, maybe if I hit you hard enough, your brain will start working again. Roughs them up like a vending machine lmao.

If you tell him to let it go, he’ll argue with you, but will ultimately do as you say. Looks like you’re lucky today, pissant. But that shitface gets one chance, if Kuni so much as sees them loitering around or if they make a comment about his obedience to you, they’re gonna get it even worse than they would have. Doesn’t usually happen because most people can see the derangement in his eyes and his vibe is absolutely lethal. But every once in a while, some poor, stupid soul will challenge him. They may or may not live to regret it, highly depends on your opinion and the type of infraction against you.

He’s like Shrek. Hear me out: he’s got layers. Many, many layers. Lots of insecurities, the main one being that he’s not meant to have good things. Got an absolute ogre of a temper and he’s an asshole to everyone, but way less of an asshole to the ones he loves. In fact, it’s because of you that he even starts to believe that maybe he’s deserving and loveable. Also acts like an unwilling knight-in-shining-armor but lowkey feels like such a badass when he’s got you oohing and aahing over him. Also, fucking LOVES it when you kick ass for him, he feels like a pampered prince. Will even try to get you jealous just to make you possessive. Fuck, nothing is hotter than when you’re possessive of him.

Jealousy. Lots of jealousy, especially earlier on in the relationship due to paranoia. You could just be talking to someone in passing and he’ll start glaring, inching closer to you or full on storming up to your side if he’s not already beside you. He practically snarls and drags you along. If it’s a work related interaction, he stands nearby, arms crossed and eyes darkened with distrust. Threatens people who seem to like your attention too much, but not when you’re around. If you do find out what he’s doing, feel free to set him straight. It pisses him off, but if you can be both reassuring and hold your boundaries, he’ll relent.

He doesn’t dance around anything but his feelings, so if anyone seems to be bothersome, he’s going to bring it up to you. Sometimes the solution is as simple as a hug and a kiss, but other times, there needs to be some reassurance. Over time, he finds himself needing less of it, but it still lights him up inside to hear you say it and he will intentionally pester you until you do. He thinks he’s being sly, but you know better lol. It’s actually really fun to coyly tease him because it will either go right over his head that you’re pushing his frustration to the point of pouncing on you or he’ll get all flustered and angry and short-circuits when you finally cave and love on him. Acts like he hates you for it but you both know that couldn’t be further from the truth!

He also isn’t afraid to tell you if something you’ve done has rubbed him the wrong way and expects you to do the same in return. Admittedly, it can be hard to take and give critique at first unless you’re the more straightforward type. On one hand, Kuni can come across super judgemental and aggressive, and when paired with criticism, it can feel like an attack. And, I mean, it kind of is. He doesn’t always realize he’s doing it, but he’s been in survivalism for so long that offense has become his primary mode. He also tends to argue when you bring something up. But again, as he relaxes into your relationship, he becomes a little less offensive and more candid than anything.

You’re not gonna hit anything with form like that. Try this.

i love your metas! I just discovered them today and have spent all afternoon reading them. I have two part ask, if that's okay. Firstly, do you think a sensible version of bella could survive if she recognised early on that keeping on Edward's good side was her only survival option? and secondly, on the flip side, just how unhinged do you think bella could be before edward rejected her?

Ooh, both interesting questions, anon. Let's do this.

Sane Bella and the Yandere Simulator

Last time, on The Carnivorous Muffin's ridiculous blog, we covered what would happen to a sensible Bella who realizes the Cullens are not fluffy bunnies she should take home.

The long and short, Edward eats her.

Edward's romantic interest in Bella, the thing that has him fighting his own baser nature to keep her alive, is dependent on a few things.

One of those is Bella's interest in turn.

In time, if Bella truly was not interested in him, he would eat her. Alice tells us there's only two paths for Bella: death or vampire. Leaving her and walking away is never a true option for Edward.

So, Sane Bella loses Yandere Simulator because she doesn't realize the key aspect of Yandere Simulator: You Never Say No to Yandere.

However, you point out something interesting here, that this is a sensible Bella.

Sensible people do not immediately think they're playing Yandere Simulator. You don't run across people like Edward often, there aren't many of him, and while there are red flags early in Twilight Edward did a pretty good job of making them not particularly visible.

By the time we hit Eclipse he's pretty much thrown pretending to be nice and sane out the window. Luckily for Bella, that doesn't appear to bother her as much as it should.

Bella thinking "if I don't play along with this inhuman whack job he'll eat me", is paranoid lunacy. It is not the first conclusion a reasonable person would jump to.

That it happens to be the right conclusion is irrelevant.

But alright, I'll play ball.

Paranoid Bella and the Yandere Simulator

Bella is utterly paranoid and wearing her tin foil hat when she enters Forks. She remembers Biology very well and when Edward comes back and pretends to be nice she gives him a strained smile and thinks, "This motherfucker will eat me the moment my back is turned."

Bella considers travelling back to Florida, but that would be leading Edward to her mother, more it would be very easy to find Bella if he truly wished to.

Florida isn't an option.

Bella tries to keep her distance from Edward, hard when he sits next to her in Biology, but he seems willing to ignore her. Bella calms down a little, maybe this will work out.

Bella is nearly crushed by a van, desperately pretends she definitely did not see Edward fold that van like a pretzel. Nope, no siree Bob, Bella is concussed! She then stays awake all night in terror and OH GOD HE'S CLIMBING THROUGH HER WINDOW! HE'S GOING TO EAT HER IN THE DEAD OF NIGHT! HE KNOWS THAT SHE KNOWS!

Bella pretends to sleep, horrified, and Edward stays there all night. Staring.

(Edward, meanwhile, is realizing he's in love.)

Bella enters school a nervous wreck, waiting for that fateful Biology class and... Edward is studiously ignoring her. He doesn't even say hello.

Bella would be relieved, except he keeps sneaking into her bedroom at night, staring. Bella gets no sleep for weeks.

Then the blood testing happens and suddenly Edward is talking to her. He tells her they shouldn't be friends and he doesn't want to be friends, GREAT, EDWARD, THAT'S GREAT. But then it's very clear that he's after something, and Bella's spidey senses are tingling.

Edward doesn't want to be friends.

Oh, oh shit.

Suddenly, Edward sneaking into her room at night takes on a whole, new, sinister twist. First he'll rape her, then he'll eat her (or who knows, maybe vice versa, Bella certainly doesn't want to find out).

Bella is driven home by Edward (he insists) and enters the house to wheeze into a paper bag.

She thinks over her options.

Edward can crush cars, Bella trips over asphalt. Even if she wasn't Bella, there's no way she could outfight him even if she wanted to.

Edward was very concerned when he suspected that she knew, he likely still suspects and Bella's not a very good liar. Bella doesn't want to find out what happens to her if Edward realizes she really does know.

Edward appears to have a romantic interest in her. Does Bella really have the option of saying no?

Bella, still wheezing in her bag, comes to what seems like an inevitable decision. She must humor Edward at all costs. For the sake of her family, of her own life, she must play into his romantic overtures. Bella can't act but now, her life depends on it.

Well, Bella still can't act, but luckily for her Edward doesn't care.

Edward just thinks Bella's very jumpy, a little nervous and shy, and just plain weird (given he thinks Bella's just plain weird in canon this is not too far from normal events).

So Bella gets to live in terror for things like the meadow, where Edward talks about how easy it would be to eat her, how he contemplated murdering Biology in cold blood to eat her in the most efficient manner, how he loathed her for daring to smell delicious, how Alice warned him there was a good chance of him eating Bella in the meadow today, all while pressing his cheek against her hammering heartbeat.

"AH HA HA HA HA, EDWARD, YOU'RE SO CHARMING."

Edward invites Bella to the house. These creepy, man eating, people all meet her with smiles. Edward has composed her a lullaby. One of them, Alice, tells Bella they're going to be best friends.

"AH HA HA HA HA, EDWARD YOUR FAMILY IS SO NICE."

In other words, somehow, all of Twilight still happens because Bella is terrified of saying no.

At least, until Volterra. Given Bella's being hunted by Victoria, even had Bella not gone cliff diving eventually Alice would see her eaten and then black out as the wolves chased off Victoria instead.

Bella spends New Moon having a great time. Mostly. The Cullens are finally gone, she's free, she spends weeks on edge thinking they might come back.

Just when she starts to relax, fucking Laurent shows up and learns Victoria's trying to kill her. Because of Edward, because of course, it's always about Edward. WHY ARE VAMPIRES ALWAYS TRYING TO KILL HER?!

Regardless, Alice shows up and goes, "Bella, my god, you're alive!" And Bella dies inside. Alice Cullen is back. Oh no.

Bella pretends she's thrilled to see her. Alice, her best friend, her favorite demon. Hurray. Alice fills Bella in on the New Moon scoop, Bella pretends to be very invested. Then Alice gets the vision.

Edward has decided to commit suicide via the Volturi.

Bella has no problem with this, unfortunately, she realizes that Alice clearly has a problem with this. Alice fully expects Bella to run off to Italy to save Fucking Edward.

Once again, Bella isn't sure she's allowed to say no.

Bella runs to Italy, finds herself saving Edward's life, and then she's brought before the Volturi where she might very well be executed because Edward Cullen happened to involve her in this mess.

BELLA NEVER WANTED TO BE HERE.

Bella snaps. She's crying, she just can't take it anymore, and she finally loses her shit at Edward. SHE NEVER LOVED HIM! HE IS SCARY AND WON'T LEAVE HER ALONE! IF THEY'RE GOING TO KILL HER JUST DO IT NOW BECAUSE SHE CAN'T DO THIS ANYMORE.

Aro watches Bella's mental breakdown in utter amazement. Naturally, while Marcus suspected something was funky with those two, Aro did not see this coming from Edward's perspective.

Aro offers Bella her out, it is unfortunately death or vampire, but vampire is very much an option and Aro will offer Bella sanctuary in the Volturi.

Bella takes that offer and runs with it.

Edward is devastated and blindsided.

Somehow, neither he nor Alice saw this one coming.

But to answer your question: Paranoid Bella survives Yandere Simulator By Defecting to the Volturi

How Unhinged Does Bella Have to Be For Edward to Dump Her?

He won't.

Remember, Edward in canon thinks there's something legitimately wrong with Bella. She doesn't think like normal people, she always makes the least rational choice, and he can't hear her thoughts.

Edward doesn't think Bella's gifted just that she's... different. (Bella, hilariously, immediately picks up that Edward's calling her a freak. Edward backtracks hard on that one.)

Bella's decisions also become increasingly ridiculous as the series goes on.

She stabs herself in the middle of a battle, she insists on having sex with him while human, she consorts with shapeshifters (to Edward this is lunacy), she picked up motorcycle riding, she threw herself off a cliff, she ran from his sweet protection to the reservation, she believes he doesn't love her, and she doesn't want to get married.

I imagine Edward thinks there isn't anywhere left for Bella to go. She's left the planet, unhinged is her middle name.

But none of that matters.

I already linked the Edward/Bella post I always link near the top so I'll just recap. For Edward, it's all about the blood, the silence, and the projection.

An unhinged Bella is still a delicious and silent Bella. He can still pretend she's Carlisle.

Even if Bella became addicted to cocaine, and ruined that sweet scent, it wouldn't tarnish her memory. He'd nurse her back to health, then eat her so she never relapses.

That's the trouble with Edward/Bella, it's not about Bella, not at all. You could replace her with sweet smelling cardboard and Edward would not notice a difference.

Yes! No one will host them anymore so they've given up!! The damage cannot be undone, but in this battle of good and evil, evil has finally lost! Looks like there's hope for the world after all.

What Unus Annus Taught Me

Unus Annus meant so many different things, to so many different people. Everyone had different feelings about the end. It was personal, and profound, and heart shattering, the press of that button at the end of the live. I remember I got chills just watching it.

I joined Unus Annus in early March, around the time quarantine started. I shit you not, I found the channel through it landing in my recommended after watching the entirety of Mark's Yandere Simulator series(for no good reason.) That was really fucking lucky, honestly, that I found them then.

Over the course of 2020, and quarantine, and Unus Annus- even though I wasn't there from day 1(it was actually day 127), I grew so much. I watched every single video, following Mark and Ethan as they, and I, became a new person over the course of a year.

I finally can start saying that I'm proud of myself. My past is full of crazy, traumatic shit, and all through my life, even before that, my biggest fear was and still is loss. Loss of not only loved ones, but experiences. Time.

A few years ago, I lost someone very special to me. And it's honestly fucking amazing that I can even say that, because the pain of even mentioning her used to be so bad that my body would basically shut down. But I'm finally able to start to move on.

That doesn't mean it won't hurt anymore, or that I'll forget. I tried to make it so that it wouldn't, that I could erase it all from my mind. But that's impossible, and more than that, she deserves better.

When you lose someone, and it's inevitable that you will, pushing past it and ignoring it will not make it better. Locking away your memories of them, your time with them, that piece of you, will only leave you screaming on the inside, never being able to accept that they're gone.

That was me. But Amy, Ethan, Mark, Evan, Marcus, Rachel, Vincent, Lixian, and everyone else on the UA team changed that. Unus Annus was a self destructing channel. It was a reminder to live your life to the fullest before you die, but also, that everything comes to an end. People. Pets. Youtube channels.

For years, I've battled and am still battling the hopelessness and the guilt and the anger that came with losing my dearest friend. But watching the channel go, and learning to accept that it would, that it did, has helped me so much with accepting that even though she's gone, I still have the memories. A part of her is a part of me. Yes, she is gone. Forever. I will never see her again. But that's okay. I'll cherish my memories with her, and every second we spent together.

And when my time comes, I want to be able to say- I lived my life to the fullest. I made her proud.

I'm so glad I was able to go on this journey with all of you. I'm so glad that we can remember, and treasure the moments we had.

K: E, crack idea. Kyoto hitman reborn crossover with Yandere simulator

How the crack crossover would go, depends on who Yandere has a crush on.

The easiest would be Tsuna, who pre-reborn invokes protective feelings in Yandere, and makes them want to go after his bullies. They even had a kidnapping plan prepared, only for Reborn to show up, and all these guys to start surrounding him, like bodyguards.

Though it would be hilarious if Yandere crushed on Hayato, or Hibiri, for different reasons

E:Ong Plus its very norm for Tsuna to straight up tun into someone. And he's a sweetie.

The only time a girl ever liked him first and she's nuts.

K: It would be very Tsuna, wouldn't it

E: It would and it's hilarious for us. Now he can also pressured vy reborn to take the delinquents as a "Decimo" should uphold *something somthing reborn would say*"

Gokudera would probably jump the bomb on that one already goes on the delinquents.

Hibari would be suuuuuuper hard to get to even come to this place and honestly Yan-chan would find him as a t he eat *i mean as long as she ain't breaking rule she good*

K: That one opens up the most scenarios. Like a possible spinoff, where Yandere did go through with the kidnapping earlier, Nana tells her husband, and a crazy struggle opens up to find Tsuna. The Mafia, VS yandare's family, would be quite a battle.

E: Hibiri and Megami teeth clenched teamwork.

K: Yamato has so many fangirls (and boys) that it would probably start up some rivalry's, if Yan's attention is on him.

E:A long line of Yandere? Already implied to have some hands in the underworld. They're pretty damn great at tying up loose ends.

They haaaaate eachother so much. Well maybe Megami does, Hibari doesn't give a fuck.

K: Meanwhile, Tsuna and his future fiancee are in a different town, where nobody's bullying him, and it's a bIt weird, not terrible.

E: Yamato fanclub totally. You know I think Budo knows kendo I believe.

K: "Join the boxing club"

"I have formed my own club"

E: He would try that!!!! Someone would even explain to him you can join the other two clubs but nope!!

JOIN HIS BOXING CLUB

K: The other way it could swing, is Yandere becoming a Guardian. What kind of flame do you think they would have?

E: Yandere I always see to have either a cloud flame. Or malleable en9ugh to have storms.

K: I wonder if an argument could be made for lightning flame. Lightning's property is hardening, right? Except, rather than physical hardening being it's first use in the household, it's emotional hardening. We don't question it as much in the show, but Lambo is a 5 year old Hitman. And otherwise seems to be a normalish kid, demanding attention.

What if he hardened himself towards killing, in a bid for parental attention.

Or perhaps, he demands so much attention, because his parents are absentee

E: He was also sent out basically on a death mission by his own family.

Kids gotta be emotionally strong enough to be in a household like that. We never did find out what the hell his parents are even doing.

Not even Fuutas.

K:Yandere, uses hardening properties to achieve a different emotional effect. Hardening against them. Their dad is a kidnapped victim, living with his murderous kidnapping wife who is obsessed with him first and foremost, and teaching the kid to be like her. Social skills were not taught particularly well as a small child, which led to further isolation from peers. They didn't even notice they were doing it, just shut It all out.

E: True. Even Yan mother even see her as a threat. Imagine being on the side of a murderous intentions from your own mother.

Yan has to be emotionally hardened at this point. She is pretty good to have as a mafia ally. I mean it's not far fetched for them to try to control her . I mean they have Mukuro with them. The Yakuza ending also pretty much stated she would join them. She kidnaps a lot of girls and boys without getting caught.

K: Tsuna, catches their attention. This boy, who the school calls no good, who is failing his classes, who is ruthlessly picked on. He keeps coming. And they start to get mad at the people who keep picking on this sweetie, and then he talks to them one day, and that's it. They feel a lot for him & are determined to put a smile on his face.

And while just talking to him would probably do that , Yandere is too shy to do that, and resorts to other things.

And they are unhardening, and finding emotion can be brought to the forefront to do things for him, and he must be Sempi.

Hayato gets kidnaped a few times (and rescued by Bianchi and others), before Yandere realized they both are here to protect Tsuna

Like, before they bond over that, Hayato is out smoking or something, and just gets nabbed.

He has conspiracy theories over who is kidnapping him.

He kind of just wakes up in these random houses.

One time Hibiri rescues him, and goes after Yandere for disturbing the peace, with kidnapping. And Hayato gets rescued from the truck by kusakabe.

The Yakuza are doing the kidnapping, because that would cut into time with Senpai.

E: Other things like leaving encouraging note to him in his locker or small gifts he would like *honestly Tsuna would be so touched if someone even remembers to include him in something. And it is canon option for Senpai*

Would Yandere be more lax in them? If he is also interested in protecting Senpai, then ally?

Omg.

Stop cutting into time with Senpai, she makes sure he gets home safe!

K: Eventually, they decide, with all the problems that come after Sempai, more people on the job may not be a bad thing.

How would Reborn react to all of this? Would he be dropping cryptic hints.

K: He totally would.

He's probably not liking how much attention Yan would bring if she isn't careful. Impressed with her skills, but honestly who is he to judge in his own profession. Utilize her skills. He would have already gone through her background even her parents. Ryoba history is the most surprising so far.

K:How would Mukuro becoming Sempai possibly come about? As a what if, I mean. It's pretty unlikely, given he's in prison, as is most of the Varia, but this is a crack premise, so it's a possibility, I guess.

If she's the most surprising so far, then he has not gotten far into the family history.

E:Well can it be possible for Chrom to be senpai? She's quiet and sweet. Kind and Senpai can be a girl or boy either way doki doki.

Ahaha yeah, true. He hasn't gona so far cause he wasn't expecting her parents to be ...well a boy who went missing and a girl who was on trial of a decade for murder.

He probably started looking into Yan history if he noticed her skulking around Tsuna.

K: That's a good point.

Operation: find Sempai organs is a go

A family history reading that disturbs Reborn the more he reads it.

E:FIND HER MATCHING ORGANS

The more he goes, the more fucking questions he has. How big is this family even?

He would start looking in local Yakuza history or the underworld to see if Aishi family has connections to it.

K: With Yandere unhardening, through friendship, operation organs may happen anyway How long has this been happening, and why was it none of the reports!!?

E: If senpai cares for his friends and wants them happy, if that makes Senpaj happy she would do it.

CAUSE AISHI'S ARE HELLA DETAILED IN THEIR WORK

They slip under the radar as they please. Reborns a bit chilled at how long this has been going on and no one seems to notice

It happened in literally thousands of people watching and she still was acquitted innocent

Reborn can see Yan as a blessing in a really messed up disguise as she has talking a liking towards Tsuna. Maybe this can work in his favor

K: Who else is in this investigation ?

E: *lol Yan is pretty pissed at how much trouble Reborn puts Senpai in*

WAIT WE FORGOT ABOUT THE REPORTER. (C :Part of reborns investigation? Maybe Info?)

K: Idk, isn't he worried she might kidnapping him?

E: Maybe, but is she did Reborn would be getting kinda loose in his abilities as a hitman if that happens

K: what about info and the rivals?

E:With the right manipulation he can make it work. Yan may be a dangerous girl but she's still too young and is still learning. Rivals? Depends on how they react with Tsuna?

If Yan find out about Kyoko, she a dead girl. Nah jk, Ryohei wouldn't let that happen and IF TSUNA EVER FOUND OUT.

K:It could happen in the future. Just one day, the demecio dissapes.

Does he still have a crush on Kyoko, in this world? It's middle school, and another rival may have caught his interest. maybe Ami?

E: Well I kept thinking back to One day Decimo disappears and honestly i really like that idea he just vanishes

K: Did his lightning grab him, or was it someone else? Can you see Tsuna having a crush on any of the Yansim rivals instead of Kyoko?

E: Yan i wanna say to most. Dedication and honestly it can be the long game. Everyone thinks they're finally as normal as they can get. But one day maybe during a siege, **i wanna say Yan helped it start but that would be redundant maybe take opportunity of it happening to do it* they Tsuna.

Idea for an story/game (OC Drawing Participation)

This has been on my mind for the past couple of days, and I would like to let it out. I got inspired by the groom for Outlast and Doki Doki Literature Club with a side of Yandere Simulator. I have been wanting to draw this, but I have no idea how to do this, or even what to name it. So I thought that I could use some friend assistance. More details down below. Here's the scenario. There is this RPG set in a fantasy land where the Player controls some generic hero and a party of other warriors to fight off monsters. in the lands, there is evil warlord that brings terror to the innocent, destroying towns, attacking kingdoms. He does this by obtaining the orbs of power throughout the land. So the goal of the game is too take him down, rescue the princess and bring peace to the land. If this sounds generic, it's supposed to be. The difference is that the protagonist and all members of the party are aware of the player being in control. It's even stated as a prophecy that a being from an alternate world that has the pure power of choice will be the defender of the realm. There are a lot of jokes dedicated to game mechanics, the repetitiveness of battles, generic story tropes, and more. The player and the protagonist learn to work together and grow a strong bond. But as they finally get to the final confrontation of the Warlord, the game changed. The Warlord prevents the protagonist and the party from hitting him. It turns out that the Warlord is aware of the player, and wants the player's power for his goal of conquest. He says that he won't corrupt the protagonist and the party if the player plays as him. So the player is forced to play as the Warlord as he brings more misery to the land. The warlord has actually better stats then all the heroes the player gain throughout the journey. But what makes things weird is that how the Warlord talks to the player. Throughout the entire game, he treated his minions and anyone below him. But when speaking to the player, he talks to them as if he genuinely cares about them. Like a friend, someone you can trust. But looking through the game files, the player finds journal entries written by the Warlord himself. Messages about there being a person that has stolen the Warlord's heart. Someone that he has yearned to be with when he found out they existed. Someone that he states his existence is pointless without their love. But the messages state that the person in question is with the Protagonist, and when he heard of this news, he became enraged. So much that he would do anything in his power to make the person his heart yearns for fall in love with him. The player assumes that the person was the Princess, who at this point of the story, was with the Protagonist. But that turns out to be far from the truth. The person that the Warlord has loved for so long, was YOU! The player. The Warlord explains that he has always been in love with you, so much that he dedicated a country to them, hired professional painters to make pictures of him with his precious player, and throughout the files, goes on long Shakespeare like poems of his love for you. So now you have a choice of giving yourself to him or save the protagonist and the team. If you choose to turn him down, don't think he'll stop. He goes out of his way to make the player be his. He messes with the files to make the player act as if he loves him. When text describes the Warlord, it makes him sound as if he's the most amazing person ever. He even holds the characters that the player grew to love hostage to bring the player to him. All you need to know about him is that "He wants nothing in the entire universe then the player to love him, unconditionally." So there you guys go, that's all I have for now. I think the reason why this has stuck with me for so long is that I wanted to see how far we can go when stretching the obsession crush trope. I really wish to make this guy a reality, but that's where I'm stuck.

I sincerely doubt the world needs this, but that sort of thing has never stopped me before. Have an extremely biased guide of several dating sim games, organised by some arbitrary metrics.

Word of warning: this will be long (4k words), because I've played an embarrassingly large amount of otomes.

As a disclaimer: obviously this is a personal opinion. If you (as a lot of people do) enjoy the more forceful bad boy type in your dating sim, I’m not going to judge you. I, however, don’t, so this list is very specifically going to call out games for how they treat the protag.

A note on play styles.

These games come in a few flavours, which is important to know if you're gonna try them.

The vast majority of the mobile games here follow a basic visual novel structure. You pick a guy and read through the different chapters, and depending on your answers you'll be leaning toward one of two or three endngs. Since these are free to play mobiles, there's a bunch of challenges you will need to log in daily to pass.

Mystic Messenger is the main outlier, since it's a chat simulator that plays in real time.

The pc games tend to be more complex, with interlocking routes and more endings, generally. You'll need a number of skill points to meet character A for instance, or you'll need to do a series of actions to reach ending B.

Great games

Ikemen Sengoku

Hands down one of the best mobile otomes out there right now. I found this when searching for pics of Masamune Date (from a different game) and I've sort of been obsessed with otomes since.

Platform: Android (free to play, pay for premiums) Story: MC gets sucked into a wormhole and finds herself 500 years back in time, in Sengoku era Japan. She drops in on the exact moment where Nobunaga Oda, the Demon King, would be assassinated at Honno-ji. She stops the murder, disrupts the timeline and now there's a bunch of hot warlords vying for her attention. Protagonist’s spine: Reinforced steel. This is one of my favourite protags, because she is Super Sassy and doesn't take shit, unless she's literally being threatened with a sword. The protags where I feel like I understand their actions are few and far between, but this is one of them. Except when she goes far beyond mere bravery to get her man, and decides to forgo tampons and, like, wifi, to live 500 years in the god damn past. Squick factor: Low. This game is made by Cybird, a company that appears very big on consent. The guys generally treat MC with respect, probably more than could be reasonably asked of a Sengoku warlord. The only worrying stuff happens in the Obvious Yandere route, but you kinda know what you're getting yourself into with that one.

The Good: I friggin love the writing for this game. The guys feel like real characters, there's a ton of interaction between them and I need to give this game extra points for the story events, which are almost invariably gold. This is where the makers stop giving a shit about realism and just go for what they want to write. There's ones where all the guys are suddenly idols, there's a Christmas episode, there's one where they battle through cooking and cleaning. It doesn't take itself serious, is what i mean, and it's Hilarious. The Bad: This is one where the in-game art (aside from the CG's) is actually not that great. Hideyoshi's smile is kinda weird looking and the models feel a little outdated at this point. Best Warlord: This is very difficult, because a lot of them are dreamy, but let's just say that I need a Mitsuhide route so very badly.

Ikemen Revolution

The newest Cybird game and my current fave.

Story: MC falls down the rabbit hole when she tries to give a rushed White Rabbit man something he dropped. She ends up in Cradle/Wonderland, where war is about to break out between the Red and Black army, the Hearts and the Spades. Everyone is hot dudes and MC is considered Alice the Second (after the one from Through the Looking Glass). Squick factor: Low. Again: Cybird game. This means there is steamy situations and sex scenes, but they're blatantly consensual. The routes I've played so far keep well within the bounds of what I would consider romantic. Protagonist’s spine: Varnished wood. In general MC is self-propelling with occasional bouts of bravery. You can tell why she's doing the things she's doing and how she reacts to situations feels sort of logical. She's hard-working and caring and a little naïve, but the fact that she's canonically a woman from early 19th Century London does put a lot of her actions in perspective (like the amount of bullshit she puts up with).

The Good: The writing is fun. There's a good mix of angst and just… general comedy. The characters interact with each other a lot, and it feels like they're a big loud family, especially in the Black Army, which is more like a frat than anything else. The art is also decent. The backgrounds are utterly gorgeous and most of the guys are very good looking. When I first started the game I was weirded out by the blinking animation, but I have since gotten used to that. The Bad: I found some of the plot rushed. Like you spend so long slow burn growing toward each other, and then suddenly stuff has to happen action movie style because we're running out of chapters. The final chapters of Fenrir's route were just plain dumb. Like could that BE more of an obvious trap. Come on MC, I expected better of you. Also, since this is a very new game, not that many routes are out (four at the time of writing). Best boy: Hooo man. Of the routes that are out, Ray is very… oooof. But my fave chars are probably 'so done' Sirius (the fact that he's voiced by Suwabe has nothing to do with this, surely) and 'also quite done' Kyle, who is both a doctor and an alcoholic wreck of a human being.

Mystic Messenger

You know Mystic Messenger, it's like one of the biggest otome's of the past few years.

Platform: Android, iOS (free to play, pay for extra saves and stuff) The Story: MC follows a text message to a weirdly high tech apartment and this somehow puts her in the position of party planner for a secretive group of weird people. It only gets more complicated from there. The game plays out in real time, via chat conversations and the occasional story segment. Squick factor: Um. I personally wasn't weirded out, but I also decided very specifically not to play Jumin's route. This girl did her research. The routes in Another Story are also very over the top and would probably bug me. While I love the Saeran character, I don't think I'd be able to handle that route. So: highly dependent on chosen route. Protagonist’s spine: Adderall. It takes a specific kind of person to download a chat app and follow the instructions given by a random stranger therein. It takes a much stranger person to sit in an apartment with a bomb and just keep inviting people to a party. MC is on a different level from us mortals.

The Good: I loved the game mechanic, because it felt very real. The player is following a chatroom, just like the character is. Besides that, the story is completely bonkers and I appreciate that. The Bad: Did I mention it plays in real time? Because it plays in real time, meaning you get chat conversations at two in the morning. I was very sleep deprived when I played this. Best boy: 707. Dude is funny and deep and hot and relatable and smart and I want to give him all the hugs.

Dream Daddy

One of the few decidedly mlm games I've played so far. You've probably heard of it since it was the subject of much hype and much controversy. Markiplier played it. Friggin Buzzfeed has video's on it.

Platform: PC and Mac (it's on Steam) The Story: MC is a Dad who moves into a neighbourhood with a lot of other single(-ish) dads. Time to work it. Squick factor: Low. This is primarily a humour game: there's a ton of dad jokes and silly mini games, and a distinct lack of kabe don's. The canon routes are all very thoughtful. Protagonist’s spine: Barbecued sausage. Player Dad just goes for it. He’s flexible and caring enough to handle the more sensitive subjects, and self aware enough to deal with random crime and weird drunks.

The Good: I remember opening this game and, in the character creation screen, telling a trans friend of mine 'omg you can wear binders', and the sheer Glee of his reaction. That's the kinda stuff this game was, partly, made for and it is appreciated. I really liked the tongue-in-cheek writing, most of the jokes landed and the whole thing is just a lot of fun. The Bad: Some of the minigames are annoying. Why the hell are you making me play Bejeweled with fish? I also had a hard time sympathizing with some of the kids. I mean… Lucien straight up tries to murder someone? Ernest is 'rebellious' but he's also an ass. Best dad: Damien has the best route, but have you Seen Mat? Holy moly.

Not worth it games

Amnesia: Memories

This game should come with a friggin warning, so I'm giving it here. Its popularity and star rating is a terrible indicator for how much you may enjoy this game. It presents itself as a cute dating sim with gorgeous art, but it devolves into straight up horror, and not in the good way. This feels like a guidebook written in the 1800's to tell young women their place. Not even mortified intrigue could make me finish this.

Platform: PC (Steam or Google Play) and PlayStation Vita Story: MC wakes up with amnesia. Someone hurt her and she doesn't know who to trust. You'll need to figure out what happened. Squick factor: Super high. Like… so high. Everyone treats MC like shit and she just lets it happen, even developing all kinds of Stockholm Syndrome as she falls in love with these asshats. MC's childhood friend supposedly loves her but is such a tsun and just… doesn't communicate while also treating her like a small child. One of the other characters is so popular he has a fucking harem but MC is just supposed to wait for him to actually fall in love with her. And don't even get me started on that friggin yandere. *shudders* Even the secret route 'true love' character is a million types of wrong. Protagonist’s spine: Undercooked custard. MC has the self preservation skills of a wet sponge and whoever is playing this is supposed to get turned on by high concept ideas of S&M that are just written out so badly everything feels like an abusive relationship.

The Good: *sigh* The art. The art is very pretty (I'm upset at the art since it sucked me into the horror). Also, as a visual novel, this one is complex as all hell. There's a ton of endings (most of them deadly) depending your actions as a player. It's vast, is what I'm saying. Also, I hear the clover route isn't as bad as some of the others, but I was too weirded out to try. The Bad: See rant. This is one of those games that really seems to glorify the whole possessive, abusive boyfriend shtick, but it's ok because he loves you, really. Ugh. Just… ugh. Best boy: Kent? I guess? He doesn't appear to be actively abusing MC at least.

Shall we date: Lost Alice

I wondered if I should include this because I literally played like ten chapters and then deleted it, but that in itself should give some indication.

Platform: Android (free to play, in-app premium purchases) Story: MC wakes up in the forest with amnesia (I see a trend). Turns out she's in Wonderland and everyone thinks she's Alice. Most of Wonderland's characters are, predictably, hot men. Squick factor: Unavailable. I didn't play far enough to see but some of the men are quite pushy and also it's a Shall we date app, so… tread carefully. Protagonist’s spine: Cement. This is an MC that puts up a fight, which I respect. Sadly she does so in that 'needlessly aggressive' way that anime characters sometimes have. I didn't find her particularly sympathetic.

The Good: The art. It's always the art that gets me. The Bad: The UI annoyed the shit out of me. This is a free to play, pay for premiums game, so some level of mindless clicking is expected if you try to play for free. This one had just too much. There was friend greeting and picture rating and princess lessons and got knows what else, all taking a ton of time. Trying to get to the home page popped up at least four different 'now on sale' screens every single time. The writing wasn't good enough for me to deal with that. Best boy: Well there’s a cat. So.

Decent games

Hustle cat

This game is set in a cat café, that was all the encouragement I needed to buy it.

Platform: PC (Steam) Story: MC is invited to take a job at a cat café. Turns out everyone in the café is cursed, and also they're into you. Squick factor: Almost non-existant. This is a very tumblr friendly game in the sense that your love interests are both male and female, and none of them are particularly pushy. The relationships feel pretty natural and mostly consist of MC helping their love interest with some subquest. Protagonist’s spine: Cucumber. MC is actually pretty cool. The game does that 'modern western game' thing where you get to pick a gender and a skin colour for your protag and the general atmosphere is 'tongue in cheek'. MC doesn't let people walk over them, but they're generally helpful.

The Good: CATS. The premise of this game is pretty neat. The Bad: According to Steam I played this five months ago, and I pretty much forgot about it. Fun game but not particularly memorable. Best cat: Landry. Tall, gentle giants are a particular weakness.

Shall we date: Blood in Roses

This is me giving Shall we Date another shot, because the amount of hot mildly medieval boys was intriguing.

Platform: Android (free to play, in-app premiums) Story: There's two, because this app has been around for a while and now has two 'seasons'. The Witch stumbles upon a supposedly abandoned castle and gets imprisoned there by a bunch of vampires. The Hunter, meanwhile, seeks out the castle because she wants to stop an attack on her village. Both come to realize that the castle is now a hotel for monsters, and that its denizens are both not what they imagined, and also hot. Squick factor: Highly dependent on route. The Witch literally starts in a jail cell, so you can imagine the Stockholm Syndrome shit that goes down. Also, this is a personal preference, but I'm really weirded out by a lot of blood play stuff so most of the vampire routes are gonna be… problematic. Shall we Date games don't shy away from sex scenes and I like that, but coupling them with drinking blood 'to get in the mood' is a rather specific niche. The game does offer a number of other options for you to court, from werewolves to wizards and… grim reapers? It's a mixed batch. If you're not into pushed boundaries I can offer one tip: stay away from the vampires. Protagonist’s spine: Sand cookie. She has one, but it's brittle. I've mostly played Hunter routes and it's like… she tries, and she can take care of herself but she also tolerates more bullshit than necessary, ya know.

The Good: The art is good, and some of the storylines are intriguing despite my reservations. I'm still playing it (mostly in a quest to find a good ending where MC doesn't die to become a weird immortal creature). The UI, while annoying, isn't as bad as Lost Alice's, or so it seems. The Bad: The writing is very hit or miss. There's routes where the guy just sort of lowkey stalks MC, until she suddenly decides she's incredibly in love with him. There's others that make even less sense, and then there's ones that feel more natural. In general, MC's actions don't seem to have a lot of thought put into them. Best boy: So far: Gordon. He's cute and sensible and tortured and not incredibly antagonistic.

Midnight Cinderella

You'll notice a friggin ton of Cybird games on here.

Platform: Android (free to play, premium purchases) Story: MC gets, mostly by accident, chosen to be the Princess of Wysteria. As such she must prepare to govern the country when the king dies, and choose a consort from a number of suitors. Squick factor: Low. Not only are these men respectful of her, they're rather literally treating her like royalty. Having said that, there is a lot of the typical hurtful tsun stuff going in several routes. Protagonist’s spine: Lightly done steak. There's something weird going on with the protag in this game. When it comes to governing, she's tough as nails. She's thrown into a situation she wasn't ready for, and while this stresses her out 24/7, she performs admirably. On the other hand, her main reaction to literally anything when it comes to love is 'Oh'. She cries a lot, at times she feels like a wet rag. There's a bunch of situations she could have just solved by going 'Yeah I'm into you'. She's complex, I guess.

The Good: The writing, while melodramatic, is nice. The art is good as well. The Bad: This is an old game and it doesn't perform that well on my current-gen smartphone. Expect to push certain buttons several times before the game realizes what you're trying to do. Also the loading takes ages. Best boy: For me, Sid, because he reminds me of Aomine Daiki and I'm weak for that type of personality. As far as routes go, Leo's probably had the most impact on me.

Destined to Love

I'll be honest, I started this because of an event in Ikemen Sengoku that would give me cross game storage. Don't judge me.

The Story: MC gets flung back in time (this is also a trend, it seems) to the 1800's, a few weeks before the Ikedaya incident will make the Shinsen-gumi a historic Legend. She meets, and chrams, a whole bunch of historical figures. Protagonist’s spine: Cured leather. As a modern woman sent back in time, MC is probably fairly sassy by the standards of the time, but she remains mostly polite. She's tough, considering the circumstances, but quite pliable in that 'we'll see where this goes and make the best of it' way. Squick factor: Low. There's one character that just screams 'red flag' but I have yet to try his route. Since this is a Cybird game, most of the guys are pretty respectful.

The Good: I really like the premise? As the title suggests, MC's love is part of a higher destiny, one that transcends time, and it's one of the reasons she has to go to friggin 1800's Japan. She has a hand in making history. This amuses me. Also, the guys are pretty good looking. The Bad: This is a fairly old mobile game and you can kinda tell. On a technical level it's not as bad as Midnight Cinderella, but again the touch buttons aren't always responsive. Besides that, some of the writing is rather clunkily translated and a bunch of the art is low res. Best Boy: I haven't played all the routes here, but Katsura is a god damn sweetheart, and Kyo and Yamazaki seem adorable AF.

The weird: the special ones

Hatoful Boyfriend

The reason I know otome's exist. This one shot to meme status a few years back.

Platform: PC (it's on Steam) Story: MC is one of the last remaining humans after sentient birds took over the world. She gets enrolled into an elite school for pigeons. Squick factor: Medium to high. The major thing to understand about Hatoful is that on the surface it looks like a particularly silly dating sim with pigeons, but dig deeper and it is Also a full blown apocalyptic horror story. And it follows the genre where a wrong move gets MC horrifically killed. Having said that, several of the routes, including the god damn serial killer one, didn't bother me as much as something like Amnesia, because they were not sold as romantic. Maybe it's the whole pigeon thing, maybe it's the general weirdness of the plot, or maybe it is because said serial killer actually goes 'Surely you knew this would happen', before he guts you. Protagonist’s spine: Gummy bear. MC is highly forgettable, but therefore also like… not annoying. The main focus here is on uncovering the many layered plot and the player character doesn't really have a scripted personality, she just embodies the player's actions.

The Good: This whole game is so out there. There's a reason it became so popular. It's an Experience. The plot is over the top and intricate and Weird, and that makes it intriguing. There's a ton of routes and endings, some more secret than others. The 'human' version of some of these birds is kinda hot (sadly that includes the serial killer). The Bad: the plot is so weird and meandering that it's kinda hard to follow at times. I'm fairly certain it takes several guides to unlock all the endings. Best Birb: It's been a while, but I remember liking Yuuya's route quite a lot.

Monster Prom

The new hype.

Platform: PC (Steam!) Story: MC is a student at Monster High, and is trying to get a date for Monster Prom with one of the hot people. Squick factor: None. I mean, nothing that happens here is in accordance to health and safety norms, but that's kinda the point. It's a parody game, making fun of all the hoops teenagers are willing to jump through to become popular. Protagonist's spine: Coagulated blood. MC is willing to make deals with demons, wear corpses as a hat, anything really. The question is very openly: what could I do to make them like me.

The Good: It's a funny game. I like the characters, who embody everything from the Mean Girl to the Hipster Nerd and the Needlessly Aggressive Jock. The art is simple, cartoon style, but pretty neat. The Bad: Everything is very tongue in cheek, which leaves it a little… light for my tastes. I don't feel like any of the routes matter in the grand scheme of things, MC hasn't truly touched anyone's heart. The whole thing is a joke game, so it's funny, but a bit shallow. Best monster: Polly, the permanently stoned party girl.

Cute Demon Crashers

Technically a sex game? But a really very special one.

Platform: PC (free! Here!) Story: A portal opens in MC's house and four Incubi/Succubi drop through. To apologize for the inconvenience, while they wait for a portal back, they offer to teach MC about sex. Squick factor: I've written about this game before and the best thing, the very best thing about it is how incredibly consent-minded it is. Like, even if you're already in bed, getting it on, there's always an option to turn back and leave it at that. The demons are really just there to help MC find out what gives her pleasure. Protagonist’s spine: Rock. Obviously, MC is mildly upset about four random demons showing up. As mentioned before, what happens next is mostly up to the player.

The Good: It's free and the art is pretty and I love the premise. The Bad: Kinda short, but again: free. Cutest Demon Crasher: *cough* Orias *cough*
