“Her hair was of extraordinary length and thickness: having combed and twisted it at the back of her head, it was necessary to make a kind of loop from it and pin it with a thick tortoiseshell comb, divide rest into four sections, braid each and wrap it around her head so that the comb with the twisted hair in the center, the braids, 1½ inches wide, formed a kind of crown in front; at the temples the hair was braided into pigtails an inch wide, which fell down her cheeks and framed the charming oval of her face; Under the ear the pigtails rose to the braid and complemented this already luxurious hairstyle.”

“Alapaevsk Martyrs” 18 July 1918

105 years ago, only one day after the brutal execution of the last Tsar and his family in Yekaterinburg, six more members of the extended Romanov family and two of their confidants met their tragic end in Alapayevsk.

In 1918, Lenin ordered the Cheka to arrest Elizabeth Feodorovna, the Empress’ sister. She was then exiled to different cities across Siberia, including Perm and Yekaterinburg, where she was joined by seven other people. On 20 May 1918, they were all transported to Alapayevsk, where they were imprisoned inside of a school.

In the early hours of 18 July, the prisoners were awakened and driven in carts on a road leading to a close by village where there was an abandoned iron mine with a pit 20 metres deep. Here they halted. The prisoners were aggressively beaten up by the Cheka before being thrown into this pit. Hand grenades were then hurled down the shaft.

According to the personal account of one of the executioners, Elizabeth and the others survived the initial fall into the mine, prompting one of the executioners to toss in a grenade after them. Following the explosion, he claimed to have heard Elizabeth and the others singing an orthodox hymn from the bottom of the shaft. Unnerved, he threw down a second grenade, but the singing continued. Finally a large quantity of brushwood was shoved into the opening and set alight, upon which he posted a guard over the site and departed. The Bolsheviks tried to hide their tracks and blamed the crimes on an “unidentified gang”.

On 8 October 1918, White Army soldiers discovered the remains of Elisabeth and her companions, still within the shaft where they had been murdered. Despite having lain there for almost three months, the bodies were in relatively good condition. Most were thought to have died slowly from injuries or starvation, rather than the subsequent fire. Elisabeth had died of wounds sustained in her fall into the mine, but before her death had still found strength to bandage the head of the dying Prince John with her wimple.

The victims were first buried in the cemetery of the Russian Orthodox Mission in Beijing. In 1921, the bodies of Elizabeth and Varvara were moved to Jerusalem.

The tunnel never had a light. You wish for nothing because you know you'll receive nothing, and your hopes died out long ago. The only thing that keeps you going is the thrill of emptiness you feel when things don't turn out your way. It's bitter. It's proof. Proof that you don't feel this way for nothing.

-`. THE BLACKHOLE.

There's a hole where your heart used to be and nothing is filling that hollow void. You could drown in a world curated for you, and still nothing seems to fit. It eats you alive knowing you're unsure how to satiate the hunger of your soul. It's barely hunger, it's more like a blackhole.

-`. THE TAKER.

Your expectations are ones you can barely meet. You compare yourself to others, but with a hypocritical light. You'll never find what you're looking for if you're laying down half of what you receive. It stings to be given less than expectations you've set, but if they were more reasonable, do you think even then you'd be happy?

-`. YEARNING.

The pain in your chest bubbles knowing that what you want may never be yours. You're lost in a fantasy world, or consumed by what you wish you were or had as opposed to what you do. It's hard to appreciate what's around you when you're appreciating the hope of what could be instead.

-`. THE GIVER.

Your energy depletes as you hand it out to anyone passing by your basket. People walk by and take, but no one ever leaves. You're constantly running on low when people keep asking you to give. You'd give your soul away for free, and then what left do you have of yourself if you can't say no?

-`. LONELINESS.

Your heart feels full of the connection you feel you lack. No matter how many people are around you, strangers or not….someone is missing. You don't know who, what, or if you'll ever find them. You're unsure if there's a person out there who'll really satisfy your life, so really what's the point of continuing to look?

author’s note: this came to me while re-watching the originals for like the 100th time. It was supposed to be a simple one part fic but didn't feel like it could fairly tell the story, so instead it will be a ‘multi-chaptered’ story. The Empress ordered several branches of fresh orange flowers to be brought and she herself stuck them between the diamonds in the crown; pinned a small branch to her chest; the pale flower was not noticeable among the regalia and precious diamonds, but its symbolic meaning touched many. Invited foreign guests, envoys, and representatives of foreign courts in glittering court costumes, ladies in rich ceremonial court dresses had already taken their places in the church. The halls through which the procession was to pass were crowded with people…”

I am doing my best to prepare for the festival in my city on May 18th. I want to bring as many bright stickers as possible!!

You know, I'm really obsessed with y2k style. He is so cozy, magical, mysterious, interesting and unusual in all his manifestations, although the akubi subspecies is closest to me. Since I got a new haircut (updated my avatar, hehe), I decided to completely update my wardrobe and change my style. And I am so glad that I have become much closer to my peers, their interests, and fashion! My efforts are not in vain.

And this sticker pack embodies my bright style now, my joy to be in the midst of culture and the interests of youth. I share a piece of this bright style and the warmth of my heart with you!!

Ghost in the Shell adaption tier list

The original manga would also be in Pretty good for me, good for what it is but the sillier tone of it is not why I fell in love with GITS and it's a little too horny for me. The Oshii films are masterpieces of psychological cyberpunk storytelling, philosophical discussion about identity and moody atmosphere. The Stand Alone Complex show is also phenomenal overall and occasionally peak but is a 2 season show so some of it is better then other parts, but it has the strongest characterization of the Major and the rest of section 9 and uses it's cyberpunk setting to explore political themes more. Solid State Society is the film for SAC so it's more of that. Arise is also pretty good in the same ways but doesn't feel quite as interesting in it's story and there's less of it which also goes for it's associated film, and also the SAC follow up 2045 which also has the below average 3D animation that does not look as good as the usually gorgeous 2D. The american live action one with the straight white woman playing a bi/pansexual Japanese woman that also completely misinterprets the themes of GITS to make a generic "technology bad" plot doesn't exist.

Made this because the new one that seems to be sticking closer to the original manga just got announced.
