Study Abroad
After researching universities in New Zealand, I chose to apply to Massey University as their institute of education offers interdisciplinary learning for Primary School Teachers which is my main goal. I chose to apply to Auckland campus as I have visited Auckland and travelled around North Island – I fell in love with the way of life in New Zealand. I am an active outdoors person and enjoyed visiting places such as Rotarua, Hobbiton, Mission Bay Beach and experiencing activities such as bungee jumping and luging. I experienced as much as I could within the time I spent in New Zealand and look forward to being able to experience the vast amount of opportunities New Zealand has to offer. I have family who reside in Auckland and after witnessing how they have bettered themselves by emigrating to New Zealand, it has motivated me to do the same.
I chose to study education as I have a passion for working with children, specialising in early years, and aim to pursue a career in this. Whilst conducting a research in project at an Early Years establishment, I researched the Te Whariki approach used in New Zealand schools and gained an interest in how children learn and develop within New Zealand and how this differs from Scotland.
I was praised on my ideas and creativity skills after I introduced technology within Early Years and created a training programme for staff, providing information on how they could use technology to encourage children to meet developmental milestones. I have experience of working with a culturally diverse range of children with different backgrounds, cultures and from different age groups with varying needs.
I currently work as a housing support worker for vulnerable and elderly adults and have a friendly, patient manner. Within my role, I use my creativity skills to plan, create and participate in different activities which encourages tenants to socialise. I am confident in my role and use people and communication skills to encourage tenants to develop their physical, emotional and social skills.
I feel that I have the necessary skills to become a kiwi ambassador. I am friendly, approachable, willing to help, hardworking and confident. I am eager to experience many opportunities that New Zealand has to offer and would look forward to being able to share experiences with others and encourage people to visit New Zealand, travel, and fall in love with the country the way I did.
I know I would gain substantial knowledge and experience from studying in New Zealand and would be very appreciative if offered the chance to do so. I am aware that there are no education requirements on New Zealand’s skills shortage list at present. However, I would be willing to undertake additional courses should a skill requirement arise to benefit myself and the environment.
I would be overjoyed to be provided a scholarship to study in New Zealand and feel I would be a valued student at Massey University and kiwi ambassador given the chance.
