My dad said that saws gore was just gore for gore sake and i was like no! You don't get the deep thematic elements and lessons that come from these films! The gore accentuates the themes!
#pst! the deep thematic elements are that i find hoffman attractive and the fake blood and guts makes me cheer!#lol jk jk i do really like the storylines and the “moral” questions that come from the movies. they are more than people try to say tbh#oh btw my dad loves the saw films 👍#saw#saw franchise#sawposting#mark hoffman#amanda young#john kramer#billy the puppet#james wan#leigh whannell#adam faulkner stanheight#lawrence gordon#saw 2004#saw x#slashers#dbd#horror#horror movies

Between some of Tuvok's favorite music being monks chanting, having a copy of a proto-Vulcan drama in his quarters, reciting poetry that no one else likes (his own? someone else's? unclear: It's a talent night which implies the former but the two who mention it say 'Vulcan poetry' - not 'His/Tuvok's poetry') buying a meditation lamp from a Vulcan master even though the guy doubled the price on him last minute, the fact that he's always reading alone in the mess hall and wants others to know he stands apart from them (taking steps to ensure this is the case), and that he's memorized The Dictates of Poetics by T'hain of Vulcan (being very opinionated about them), I feel like we the audience can cobble together a lot about his taste in media and that's honestly so special. He also likes and actively follows sumo wrestling. That's important. Not because it adds or subtracts to what I've said above but because I think it's kind of funny. He, Janeway, and Chakotay all just really like sumo.
#Tuvok#chara analysis#not really but <3#star trek voyager#If Tuvok were alive in the modern day he'd be one of those people in the comments of a song lamenting how tiktok ruined it#by making it popular#if he was young and in fandom he'd be lamenting about how someone's spotify playlist for X Character is SO off base#He owns records. He owns records and still looks down on everyone else who owns records. Because they're doing it for 'the aesthetic'.#He and Tom are at each other's throats they'd HATE each others taste in music and film etc#But despite everything you can and should say about Tuvok - he does not hate women. So. I will forgive him for being annoying <3#I didn't notice before that Tuvok seems to like literature a lot...#I don't know if (TOS - the only one I care about) Spock has any stated interests besides the lute#I know T'Pol reads like - the Vulcan bible but does she read anything else/have any other hobbies?#I think she also exercises but idk if that counts as a HOBBY

Read an exclusive excerpt of "Chapter 5: The Mysterious Cal and Lily" from Tangled Vines: A Complete Investigation of the Vatore Disappearances, the bestselling phenomenon sweeping Sim Nation!
The advent of the Roaring '20s put a new city on the map. Prohibition was in full swing across the nation (though often loosely and selectively enforced), but citizens were more eager than ever to revel in excess. Producers of alcoholic beverages (including the Vatore family itself, having swiftly resumed business operations despite the loss of its future inheritors) transitioned to an outward emphasis on medical spirits while moving recreational production underground. Equally clandestine speakeasys began cropping up by the dozens, but one city's winding sidewalks, grimy storefronts, and labyrinthine system of underground tunnels made it particularly well-suited to hosting these secret locales. Soon enough, San Myshuno was the pinnacle of glitz, glamor, and elegant debauchery. All who attended a party wanted to be seen. Curiously, though, two of the names most often uncovered in tabloid archives, Cal and Lily, seemed to fully avoid the increasingly ubiquitous flash of the camera. While other frequenters of the speakeasy circuit often found their grainy black and white faces in print, providing endless fodder for the burgeoning gossip rag industry, this pair remained elusive, which of course sold even more papers. Fellow partygoers pitched first-hand accounts to the highest bidders, and readers clung onto every salacious word. Lily and Cal were always observed to arrive together, but she would soon make a beeline for the gramophone while he settled in at the bar. Nearly every report calls Lily an exquisite beauty with an almost supernatural ability for drawing men into her orbit. In some instances, partygoers describe a herd of suitors nearly erupting into fisticuffs as they competed for her attention. It is impossible to say how many of these accounts are exaggerated or even fabricated. Nevertheless, it is clear she was quite the force. At the end of the night, she would leave with her chosen companion, stupefied by his stroke of good luck, on her arm. Meanwhile, Cal would watch listlessly from a distance, nursing a glass of whiskey he was never observed to actually drink. The relationship between the two was unclear, as was his reason for accompanying her, as he seemed to have little interest in the raucousness surrounding him. He rarely engaged with other guests or even Lily herself, though there is at least one report of an argument in which he seemed with little success to be dissuading her from leaving with yet another man. One cannot help but draw parallels to a certain set of siblings with suspiciously similar names. Despite being younger, Caleb Vatore was always said to be protective over his sister Lilith's interests, even if she rarely heeded his advice. Digging into the newspaper archives at Myshuno Meadows Library unearths several more disturbing accounts. Increasingly, there were whispers that the men Lily seduced completely vanished from San Myshuno society after coming into contact with her. While there was a small spike in unsolved murder cases at the time, a concrete connection between the victims and the mysterious Lily cannot be made. In one story, which admittedly reads like a hallucinatory drug trip, Lily is described as a succubus with glowing red eyes and sharp blood-stained teeth. This account was clearly dismissed, for its revelations were never entertained further. All at once, the champagne and glitter dissolved into a more sober era, and these socialites vanished from public life just as swiftly. In isolation, similarities between Cal and Lily and the disappeared Vatore siblings may seem like mere coincidences. In truth, it cannot even be proven that they existed. No official records matching either individual have been discovered. One could argue that they were works of fiction concocted to boost sales or composites drawn from several individuals. However, considered alongside the evidence to be presented in later chapters, the theory that this duo and the Vatores are one and the same becomes too tantalizingly probable to dismiss.
#ts4#sims 4#sims 4 story#ts4 story#simblr#story: hzid#lilith vatore#caleb vatore#oops i dropped something#thanks to the magic of storytelling i've obtained the footage#anyway i've decided lilith only kills men (on purpose anyway)#she doesn't count the accidents#also i realized while writing this that it was very subconsciously inspired by this kind of obscure british film called bright young things#(which is itself based on the novel vile bodies by evelyn waugh)#i remember it mainly being about vapid awful people in a downward spiral of increasingly debauched behavior#(in other words highly recommended)#but specifically there's a reporter character played by james mcavoy who picks up intel at parties#and then feverishly dictates his reports by phone in the middle of the night to ensure they make the morning edition#that's exactly what i'm picturing here#it's like the '20s version of celebrities being papped#anyway if you read everything under the cut and then also made it this far you're a real one#gonna cool it on the lore for now and hold onto the more interesting bits a while longer

I know the fandom is mostly adults so I hope we can all try to be mindful that these characters are children&minors in a show made for kids thanks.
#whatever I just felt like I should say something#also idc that the actors were older than 18 when filming that doesn’t change the fact they’re portraying kids as young as 14#and#just because you tag something or put warnings at the top of something doesn’t mean that kids aren’t going to see it#when I was little I used to read fucked up shit that was in fandom spaces and it was honestly traumatizing#and whatever do whatever you want on ao3 or for movies made for adults#but this is a kids show made for kids and honestly who knows how many minors are in the tumblr hoa space#obviously I can’t stop people from writing whatever they want#this is just my opinion#and my opinion is that this is kids media and you should try to make the fandom space safe for kids#house of anubis

What a genuinely hilarious first thing to like on Twitter since 2020. I love both of these women so much 💗
#like it’s almost definitely just Alba showing support for her co-star but also#it does feel vaguely like Alba is fucking with us#like ‘y’know what would make the fans absolutely crazy?’#not just being back online not just interacting with a post about KTY but interacting with THIS post#also KTY in the video laughing about Meena standing in the corner like 👁#‘poor Meena’#meanwhile Meena in interviews is like ‘I’m SO glad they weren’t filming me I was crying it was so beautiful’ 😭#(but seriously the set up of that shot IS so beautiful I don’t blame her)#ANYWAY people don’t have to be normal about this but also I really hope they aren’t weird about it either#it would be lovely if Alba felt comfortable to come back to online spaces if that’s what she wants#no being weirdos and scaring her away with weird comments about her and her costars#Alba Baptista#Kristina Tonteri-Young#Warrior Nun#Avatrice#Twitter

Films good movies good banshees of inisherin was good
#mfw a movie has irish slang in it and i am familiar with it instead of usamerican stuff#i have Some Thoughts on the setting of inisherin + the time period given the givens abt the aran islands#but nothing concrete. might meditate on it#like ok im no scholar on the aran islands ive been there a couple times ive read a couple articles thats it#but like. the tourism leaning into their image of Old Irish Villagín With Sheeps And Stone Walls basically overruns its reputation#and the islands have leaned hard into the tourism and portraying themselves as True Irish Old Villages or whatever#and thus settles the situation where like. everything about the islands pander to the tourists#the islands themselves are not doing well as places to live iirc#aging population people moving away lack of amenities and funding and resources that arent Tourism#its a gaeltacht but the tourism business mandates knowing english etc etc etc lotsa shit#like i had a school friend from an island and she was always unreachable on breaks bcos the island didnt have wifi#SO! the islands around ireland suffer from lack of facilities while bending to tourism bcos they gotta#BACK 2 BANSHEES to be clear inisherin isnt an actual island but it was filmed on inish mór and very clearly based on the arans#i like the island setting bcos of the sense of isolation it gives i think it was a good choice for the movie#HOWEVER its like. you know the thing where all irish media needs to be set in the old times#when we were all wearing aran wool jumpers and playing our little instruments and being cute historical dotes#yeah. that. compounded with the aran islands wicked having to play into that in the present day#like banshees itself isnt that bad an offender. the island setting just makes it more obvious and you could tick lines off on a bingo sheet#(shoutout to the obligatory civil war reference)#where was i going with this. im tired of weird 'back when ireland was ireland' shit being Thee thing to make art abt#this is why young offenders is the best piece of irish cinema this decade. i need to rewatch the young offenders

Everyone can have their obsession with whatever and move on but Carmilla will forever hold a place in my heart
#and every web series and film that’s been made in relation with it#I blow kisses to the angsty sexy vampire Carmilla every day and have done so since the age of 11#sexy in a woman way#if you know what I mean you just know she looked so glorious in a plain white dress with long black hair#commanded the streets#idk you get it idk#the webseries is something so sweet and it’s weird because#I never thought I’d be left yearning for that time in my life when I first watched it#but introducing my friend to it and us getting excited and talking about it and the silly details#there’s something so 2000s lesbian tumblr of it#when everything felt so simple#and I am genuinely in awe of how they set it up#I mean the fact it’s just a camera in one stationary position for the entirety of each season#and all the excitement comes purely from acting and use of props#Genius and sublime#proving that you don’t need a huge budget to make something so memorable and one of its kind#no one has done anything like it since people#and NOONE had done it before#just like Carmilla the novella it remains singular#and it’s not just lesbian it’s the almost all female cast with a clear disinterest in men#like no one needs men in this no one asks for them they appear against everyone’s will#it was SO refreshing to see as a young girl#idk

the barbie movie should be state-sanctioned mandatory viewing
#i saw it today and like......... i crie#like its such a good movie that gives a perfect breakdown of misogyny and just the overall toxic beauty standards society holds over people#and even kinda touches on how easy it can be for young boys to be black-pilled and sent down pipelines for like andrew tate-type misogyny b#and how thats untrue and ultimately makes men unhappy and ends up damaging all genders#its very like nah fuck you its not women its bc ur depressed and toxic and you cant hold women responsible for your own misery#and not her job to educate and hold your hand or reward u for not being a piece of shit#but ALSO if you are AFAB boy howdy this shit was like free therapy#like thanks greta my pores are clear my mental illness is gone and my cellulite & unproportionate body with asymmetric features looks GREAT#like fr movie to watch when you got low-self esteem bc it makes you feel human and worthy and YOU are beautiful and important#also theres a trans; plus-sized; and disabled barbie !!!#two of them are the main barbies!!!!!!!! AAHHHHH#plus many non-white barbies#bro fr blows my mind theres a trans woman on screen as like a main barbie thats fucking WILD#they mustve had to fight like fuck to get that#oh another reason to like the film: conservatives are going to VOMIT BLOOD over it#mfs are going to be pissing and shitting and crying and cumming and contracting and just MALDING over a feel-good barbie movie#and i love that for us as a society 💅🏻#barbie#greta gerwig#barbie movie#barbie spoilers#???? i guess#also sorry for all the tags holy SHIT#i just have a lot of FEELINGS

The way some people are reacting to the Oscar nominations, specifically in regards towards Barbie, and many other things surrounding it holds certain undertones, especially when they then start to go and deny America Ferrera's talent among other things, that are very concerning. Like let's not do that. Especially if you're writing an article for a newspaper (LA Times) that makes digs towards the other films and their nominees, mainly who were women, and say that that proves the point of Barbie. Even though the point of the film was that women have to work harder than men just to get their foot in the door, not about shaming other women, but I digress.
#oscars#barbie (2023)#barbie movie#america ferrera#like from the way some people are talking you would think that the film didn't get nominated for anything#don't even get me started on that la times article that was dismissing the themes of killers of the flower moon either#that was not just some murder plot it was a genocide#but i also can't expect these certain types of people to get that when they act like their fave not getting nominated is an act against#feminism even though many other women (woc mainly) were nominated#but adding to the fact that women and young girls in palestine congo & sudan ate facing many forms of violence & discrimination#and yet said people haven't been up in arms about that (and you know why)#if this doesn't apply to you than it doesn't but if it does dni if you can't be calm about in this discussion#you can wish that greta & margo got nominations all you want#but pls don't get upset when others (especially poc) talk about how concerning some of the rhetoric around this conversation is concerning#also congrats to america ferra (and coleman domingo) for their nominations!#and to lily gladstone for being the first native person of native descent in the us to be nominated#as well as to all the people of color who were nominated bc often times fields like these don't give you (us) a chance to be recognized#like how are you going to watch barbie and then make digs towards other films (one with a woc who talked about the many complex feelings#derived from/during the film and the other created by a woman that was snubbed by her own gov bc they didn't like how she called them out)#and say that you understood the message behind the film? that is not-#also didn't margo help produce barbie? and isn't nominated for best picture? so she is being acknowledged not forgotten#(also bc tumblr won't let me correct my tags without deleting them completely when referring to palestine and etc#i meant to say are and not ate but my fingers were moving too fast so sorry for that and just want to clear that up)

Don’t hate me but… Barbie was a very Intro to Feminism 101 kind of movie
#not that it’s a bad thing… it’s just the way people were going on about it I was expecting something a little deeper than Legally Blonde#I’d like to say we’ve moved on from it but conservative news outlets make me think different so idk#nonetheless it’s a good sleepover movie and a good starting point for young feminists#barbie#barbie 2023#barbie movie#barbie film#barbiecore#margot robbie#america ferrera#greta gerwig#ryan gosling#mine

#no accident to me that so many of the people in bojack's life are casually queer and he never bats an eye idk#casually queer here to me means that the character's queerness is not their sole or most important trait or the focus of their plotline#sharona is the first one to come to mind she was clearly not straight#and like yeah you can make the argument that working in film/theatre means you're going to be surrounded by gays 24/7#but also there are still some incredibly cishet people in the industry who don't really extend outside their bubble lmfao#i always think abt how bojack's reaction to todd coming out is so indicative of him either being super open minded and chill#or already being familiar w the community and the nuances of different identities etc#ALSO. the fact that he was usually dressed in a sailor's uniform as a child#something something gay signaling but especially how traditionally sailor uniforms were seen as feminine#and were only acceptable for very young boys so after a certain age it's no longer appropriate dress#makes you think.#bojack horseman#chatter

or maybe if you dont want to get filmed maybe you just shouldnt dress like a freak
Or maybe, and stay with me here, you just don't film people you don't know and then post it on the internet for a bunch of other people you don't know.
I know this may seem like rocket science to your pea-sized koala brain, but it's actually like the easiest thing in the world to just not open your camera app and film random strangers at the grocery store ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
#damn you really thought you said something here huh?#''don't dress like a freak'' how about you just don't be a nosy entitled piece of shit?#how about that???#acting like wearing a corset in public is going to cause irreparable damage to society if you don't film it and make fun of it on tiktok#as if this mentality isn't literally the entire reason young people rarely open their blinds anymore for fear of being filmed by a stranger#in their own damn home while they're just living their life minding their own business#like you people seriously think you're entitled to the right to film people you don't know to make fun of them online for clout

very autistic media day
#watched im a virgo and some of pushing daisies#both incredibly autistic#and with the most disparate opinions on policing possible. lmao#im a virgo was good. interesting idea pretty well played out and clearly well considered#the metaphors were very cleanly drawn in a way that didnt feel heavy handed.#it is the 4th piece of media championing a young black person living the black experience in america that does a lot of hand holding about#systemic oppression that has come and come to my attention in the past 4 or so years. 3 of them coming out in the last 2#this one beat out wendall and wilde for the title of heaviest handed#it had a scene at the end in which the main antagonist had systemic oppression explained to him and he just. quit being evil after that. ig#implying that education will lead to action because no one wants to be evil. which is a choice. maybe im misinterpreting#but i think it was better executed than that film. certainly more fun to watch#i would recommend it! and i would like to see what the creators make in the future#when i say 'black american experience' i would like 2 emphasise that i know there is no singular experience nor is it an experience exclusi#to either black people or american people. but the genre is by and about people who want to highlight that experience#the others in the genre are they cloned tyrone and sorry to bother you. obviously.#ik live named peele's 'us' in correlation with this genre before but i have to kick it out because its too much of its own thing(compliment

ok so you've heard of the 'I liked this before it was popular' crowd, now get ready for the equally insufferable 'I disliked this thing when everyone else liked it & now everyone hates it so I feel smug' lot lol...
#personal#nothing is more frustrating that people trying to make u feel bad for liking a thing when said thing was popular#just cos now the thing is now seen as bad#ive seen this sorta thing a lottt in regards to things like harry potter#& like yh there are many MANY valid critiques & jk rowling is a bigot#but trying to claim moral superiority just cos u never got into the books is so fucking dumb imo#and just to b clear i know the appeal of this kinda thing cos when the last star wars film was poorly received#i was incredibly smug at having never gotten intothe franchise#plus when got final series was shit i was part of the 'i stopped around s4' lot#so i get it i get why u wanna push down against things that u used to b slated for criticising#but i just wished people did it w/ more tact u kno??#i also see this a lot w/ cancelled celebs btw#people being like oh i always thought (someone) was never actually talented or attractive#which is just reductive#cos newsflash sometimes assholes produce good art! that's just a reality#& claiming 'this thing was never good because this celebrity is cancelled now' is just so dumb lol#idk im probs not explaining this well#& i kno a lot of people who do this r young#but it's still frustrating....#(what kinda sparkef this was people talking about p!atd & how it was oNly good when it was the original line up)#(which is just... not true lol... but yh anyway these tags r too long u get the picture lol)

Robin was interviewed in the morning television earlier today and oh god I want to hug him 🥺
and not only because his (porko-like) leopard print jacket looked so cosy and soft
#the whole interview had such a...low-key negative vibe somehow?#the interviewer asked some interesting questions alright but it felt like robin was constantly asked to explain himself#first robin was asked why he's in UMK now when years ago he said he thinks eurovision/umk ''distorts the artist's image''#(as in they will from then on be known as ''the artist who went to eurovision'')#then he was asked what he himself had to do with making of his UMK song (as if no one expects him to be in no way part of it)#then he was asked if he was expecting the song to face so much criticism#and it does seem like he at some point realised (before the song was released) that it's not what people were expecting of him#ngl i'm one of them but at the same time i feel a little sorry for robin who genuinely seems to love the song#and thinks it represents him the best. and like. if the artist thinks like that then who am i to argue with it?#robin: ''...and no matter how the song does in UMK i'm still gonna have a great song to perfom in concerts''#the interviewer: ''so you're gonna keep perfoming it regardless?''#(said in a tone that says ''oh so you're gonna be performing it even though it's crap'')#okay well then the interviewer talks about how lordi was not praised either when they were chosen for ESC#to which robin doesn't have much to say because he was so young that he can't remember so that was awkward as well 😂#then he had to answer questions about why he was driving a car and filming a video for social media at the same time#''how did you end up with this decision to film while driving a car?'' (said in a tone that implies he's a little thick)#tbh was stupid on his part and he did apologise again#he said he's so conscientious that he wants to do everything he's promised he would (in this case answering fan questions i guess)#and he knew that was the only time that day that he'd have the time for that and that it was in an area with little traffic#and while i'm also judging him for doing it i also feel a little sorry for him because oh little one you don't HAVE to do everything 😭#sometimes you simply don't have the time and energy. next time i'd rather you don't answer fan questions than do it while driving#then (with no transition whatsover) he was asked if he's planning on wearing mismatched shoes until the end of his career 🙄#(said in a tone that implies he should grow out of it already)#a question i'm sure he's never answered before lol#then they talked about the incident at his new year's gig#and the interviewer asked if they ever found out WHY someone was throwing beer steins on stage#as if robin (or anyone) would go and ask?! 😂 like. come on. the person was drunk out of their ass probably. there is no deeper reason#but the question made it seem like the interviewer was expecting robin to go ''well they said my songs suck and that i'm probably gay!''#just so that they could make a nice headline out of it lol#anyway. don't ask why i'm writing this all in the tags 😅
