I love how right before this, Bill says he'll transform into a human guy with "the right amount of eyes" (called Chill Cipher btw) to blend in and trick Xyler and Craz. Then he just keeps being a regular one-eyed triangle with a single blond hair and a ridiculous outfit. He eats a skateboard and catches on fire in front of them. And somehow they actually believe Bill is a human person lol

Almost forgot to update y'all on the crane campaign woe is me

So naturally, everyone is pretty broken after Merack fucking died, right. Our paladin is absolutely wrecked with guilt at not being able to save him, and our bard(Lackey) is pissed tf off at Keni because why wouldn't he be

But then the fantasy cops showed up and guess what? Keni the fire genasi is actively being framed by his rival for the murder of Merack! And also the arson

Luckily our paladin thought to treat the innkeep and make sure she survived so with the combined efforts of her and the rest of the party being able to turn in one of the accomplices, Keni's name was cleared of suspicion (for now). Now the party's main goal (alongside the actual overarching plot) is to find Calenes and make sure she pays, so they're back on the road

But guess what? I'm a good DM who keeps track of the in-game calendar and had everyone give their characters birthdays at the beginning of the campaign, waaaaaay back in 2022

And Lackey's birthday was set just a couple days after the murder

So I got to introduce some ✨new worldbuilding✨ and have a pair of angels be sent to try and make his birthday happy, but due to the nature of their existence, they're unable to feel pain or sadness or any negative emotion. Why are they built like this, you ask? Oh, no reason in particular, just that they're XYLER AND CRAZ FROM DREAM BOY HIGH

Yeah, that's right. Mabel Pines exists in my stupid little fictional DnD universe as Goddess of the Fallen Star, Mabelland is a pocket dimension for her domain, and Xyler and Craz are the archangels she created to do her divine work on the material plane

It was actually worked out in the benefit of the party's development, too. Xyler and Craz are being of pure imagination and happiness, but the party is grieving one of their closest friends and can't really reciprocate the energy they're trying to pour in. It's a tonal shift for the campaign; we're about to have a fairly dark chapter in the story, so even if the players and I are having silly shenanigans, the party members just can't really have that same level of energy. We're gonna push them all to the brink one by one, so they get to find their reasons to continue forward within themselves. That, and having two stupid fucking himbos trying their absolute best to throw a beach party of Radicalness while surrounded by a group of jaded and fairly violent mortals that can't hurt them but Want To So Bad is really funny
