rare pairs? my otp is technically a rare pair, HuXiao. I love the concept of Xiao not wanting to get close to mortals but Hu Tao, not fearing karma or death or anything, befriending him and not leaving his side aaaaaaaa.... also their story chapters both have butterflies in the titles
Oooh! This one is kinda cuteeee!!! not that the others arent lol
Hu Tao x Xiao!
"You're thinking again," Hu Tao commented, making Xiao look in her direction. "You're making that face again."
"Everyone thinks, no?" Xiao countered, making the girl roll her eyes.
"Not what I meant. Is something bothering you?" Hu Tao opted as she turned to face Xiao. There was a long silence that stretched between them before he spoke.
"I... was just thinking about you and... them." He said slowly, as if he didn't want to mess up his words.
"Oh? What for?" Hu Tao asked, now fully invested in what Xiao was talking about.
"Just... thinking. When I feel unhappy or lonely, I think of you two." He said quietly, looking down for a moment.
"Oh? And are you unhappy or lonely?" They were on a date, it would be odd if Xiao felt either of those emotions.
"I suppose not always when I'm unhappy or lonely." Xiao murmured as he turned to the girl. "I guess... it's a lot, now. I just find myself thinking about you two." Hu Tao couldn't help but giggle as she moved to Xiao, wrapping her arms around his waist.
"I think that means you like us very much." Xiao looked down at her, his own arms settling around her figure.
"Yeah, probably." Xiao was never one to fall for a human, let alone two. But those two were something else. They were persistent, relentless, and... kind. Too kind. It was hard for him to stay away when they continuously earned his favor and trust over and over. So the day that Hu Tao asked him out.. he just said yes. Then they had to talk about you. Things just went on from there and now they were here.
"You don't seem to like that thought very much." Hu Tao said with a slight pout, which made Xiao shake his head.
"No, it's not that. It's not like you'd leave me to be unhappy anyway. But no. Like I said, I was just thinking about you two. I enjoy being around you."
"Well good." Hu Tao said with a smile. "I enjoy being around you as well." Xiao smiled- one of his rare ones- and leaned in, kissing her forehead as his arm tightened around her.
Yeah, he was happy here with her and with you. He never knew he even deserved such happiness but now that he had it, he'd hold onto it as long as possible.

The way home Huxiao week 2023 | July 9th - Reincarnation
✿ 4k+ words ✿ Tags: Reincarnation but it’s funny, angst / FULL comfort ✿ Featuring: Xiao’s comedic suffering, Hu Tao being Hu Tao
Every day was like the one before, a blend of the same three duties Xiao carried out for the sake of Liyue. That was his life, until he rescued a mysterious Mini Seelie.
“My head is not your nest.” “Squeak!” “It matters not if you like it.” "Squeak...?" "Not even if you pout."
Tumblr media
“Yaa!”
Xiao stepped to the side with practiced agility, the hilichurl’s club making contact with the ground he previously stood on seconds later. As the monster pondered over the failures of its attack, he didn’t hesitate to drive his spear through the goblin-like creature.
He had no prayers to offer the hilichurl, as its lifeless body came to lie on the ground in a pool of its own blood. A tool for extermination had no time for remorse, nor should he be feeling any guilt towards a monster which attempted to take his life.
Tonight’s moon was particularly luminous, casting boundless shadows, which twisted, danced and covered the whole land of Liyue. The air felt as though it was at an impasse with the world, for not even a breeze could be felt.
There was something in the atmosphere, something charged with possibilities unknown. Although Xiao possessed not the gift of foresight, even he could sense tonight would be different to every other night; whether this was a good omen or not, it still remained to be seen.
“Yaaa!” cried a hilichurl, clumsily swinging its flaming club left and right. Its desperate battlecry echoed in the devastated camp, not a single warrior was left to answer its call.
Xiao brought down his spear with merciless precision, bestowing a swift and painless death upon the lone survivor. For creatures who had lost both intellect and spirituality, an act of mercy was rarely seen as a helping hand; rather, it could only be seen as a cruel continuation of one’s own suffering.
Once insanity knocked at the door, death was the only answer to give.
“They show no sign of having been touched by corruption and yet...” The rowdiness of this particular camp had little to do with the ancient corruption, of this Xiao was sure; however, what else could cause them to be so disruptive?
An unexpected rattling sound caught Xiao’s attention, breaking his conviction of having dealt with the whole of the camp’s monsters. A feeling akin to annoyance contorted his features into a scowl, pursuing a hidden enemy never brought favorable results.
“Come out.”
The sound ceased for the duration of a heartbeat before picking up once again, more desperate than when it first appeared. Not an enemy, perhaps these hilichurls had only recently caught a prey and they saw his sudden appearance in their camp as a hindrance; animals—as well as humans—tended to become rather aggressive when someone stood between them and their hard-earned dinner.
Xiao took his time in finding the source of the sound, after all, for all he knew, it could still be an enemy, waiting for the opportune time to strike at him. Returning injured to the inn was not an option.
“What is this?”
A wooden chest stood by itself at the center of the biggest hut in the camp. The noise that had taken him this far into the camp was, unmistakably, coming from it. As Xiao stood before it, he couldn’t help but feel wary by the chest’s existence — hilichurls were not known for keeping their prey in chests.
Firmly holding his spear in one hand, Xiao opened the chest. Although faced with the unknown, his heart was strangely at peace for once, as though his earlier cautiousness was a residual effect of being at constant war with the world. He was no stranger to this feeling of serenity—for a certain vivacious soul had taught him to appreciate its flavor—however it had been many years since he had last tasted it and he couldn’t fathom how it could be surfacing now, while opening this box full of possibilities.
I understand now, this chest is the reason…
That which was meant to occur tonight, the reason for the restlessness of the earth and the quietness of the wind, was occurring at this particular juncture in time, between the unknown and the known of the contents of the chest.
“Kyuu!”
Xiao went momentarily blind as his vision was obscured by something jumping out of the chest and attacking his face with unprecedented speed, not even his time-honed reflexes could protect him from his assailant.
When he grabbed onto the impertinent and fearless enemy to pry it away from his face, his hand touched something squashy and warm, a feeling like what he would imagine touching pyro slimes barehanded would feel like.
The impertinent being came off without much resistance, rather, it squealed excitedly as though there could be nothing more amusing in the world.
“Silence,” Xiao ordered, inspecting the insolent blob. It quieted down with a hiccup, its form stilling as though conscious of what was being expected of it. Although more than a bit miffed by its peculiar behavior, Xiao examined the creature carefully.
The little blob was as big as Xiao’s palm and as round as the moon, with what appeared to be ears or horns protruding from its body — which only consisted of a see-through head and one luminous eye. Its appearance reminded Xiao of the infant Seelie he once saw floating beside the Traveler. If he remembered correctly the Traveler referred to it as a “mini Seelie”, a being with no particular abilities of its own.
A part of him wondered what those hilichurls could possibly gain from eating this tiny blob—there were more nutritious meals out there—while another part, not as insignificant as he would like, became lost in reminiscences of the years gone. To begin with, Xiao wasn’t one who took the time to dwell in happenings of the past, as he would inevitably long for a life he could no longer live; however, there were times in which even someone like him could become prey to the sweet whisperings of memories.
The Traveler he knew, a courageous soul with more bravery than there were stars in the sky, had long since met with their sibling and taken off to some distant galaxy. He couldn’t fault them for making such a choice, rather he would paint himself a hypocrite if he made such an accusation —  he chose love over solitude himself.
As though making up its own mind of ending this inspection, the blob once again attacked Xiao’s face, squeaking up a storm.
Xiao growled in displeasure, the little one possessed strength far greater than its size and he wasn’t about to be pushed back by its insistent pounding. He wasn’t an unmovable mountain, but he was also no pushover, no matter how much he allowed others to continue commenting on his lack of height.
“Cease this attack at once.”
The little blob screeched—it sounded angry enough to be called thus—before attacking his face once more. Xiao was no blob-whisperer, he couldn’t understand the first thing about this little one but something told him the rascal wasn’t happy with his interpretation of its exuberant gesture.
“Is this… not an attack?”
It gave a clockwise twirl before squeaking something cheerful and affirmative and, again, went back to “attacking” his face. Too curious to resist, Xiao set back and observed the blob, perhaps there was more to this particular action than met the eye.
Now that he paid close attention, Xiao could see the motion for what it was: the little one was rubbing their faces together, with far too much enthusiasm than the action warranted for but, it was a harmless rub nonetheless. And, Xiao snorted at his own insensibility, every now and then the blob made small squeaky noises, like those made by overly cheerful kids when they were kissing their mother’s cheeks.
“Are you thanking me?”
It gave a twirl and a squeak, an answer which he now knew to be the blob’s way of saying: “Yes!”
Xiao nodded at the response, too amused to do anything else. He picked up his spear and stood up, however enjoyable his time with the blob was, all meetings in this world were bound to end in departure. Furthermore, he had his duty to go back to.
“You are free,” he said to the little one, knowing full well it was capable of understanding him — although he ignored the how's and the why’s. Xiao watched as its single radiant eye narrowed, as though the blob knew how to glare, before it twirled its body counterclockwise, screeching as it went. He took it for the “NO!” it stood for.
As much as he was beginning to think this little red blob couldn’t possibly be the bad omen his sixth sense had warned him about, its current stubborn behavior was quickly making him change his mind.
“Go.”
Xiao tried switching to a more stern approach, perhaps the blob mistook him for a good-hearted person. For as much as he had come to accept that he was no mere tool for massacre, his hands were irrevocably tainted with the blood of Liyue’s enemies and no amount of excuses, no matter how well thought-out, could ever change this fact.
The blob twirled again and again, vigorously affirming its negative answer at being told to go. On its final twirl, the little one unexpectedly launched itself at Xiao and nestled in his hair, squeaking and cooing as it did so.
“No,” Xiao was just as firm in his disapproval, his hands reaching for the blob to pull it free from his hair. When his hands closed in on the rascal—its squashy body reminding him how easily he could end its life—instead of resisting, the little one broke down into tiny gurgles, like peals of mischievous laughter.
His heart froze in place as he was reminded of the longing he felt for a similar, familiar sound. Xiao used to happily suffer through pranks and nonsensical jokes just to hear that beloved sound, he would forgive and forget for it.
“You may come with.”
The rascal answered with a squeal.
❀❁❀⋆❀❁❀⋆❀❁❀⋆❀❁❀
Concerned over his little companion’s well-being if he teleported, Xiao had no other choice but to enter the inn through the front door, like a common man. The inn was void of its usual chatter, so he passed unnoticed by the few souls still lingering around the terrace.
“Sir Xiao!” shouted Jin’hui, her blonde hair moving every which way as she bounced behind the counter in an attempt to catch Xiao’s attention. Calling his name would have sufficed.
The genetic transmission of traits from parent to child and child to grandchild could be said to capture only the most superficial of traits since, apart from her blonde hair and her ability to keep everyone off his business, Verr Goldet’s granddaughter—Jin’hui—shared no other traits with her grandmother. The woman couldn’t seem to apply the same concept of keeping off his business to herself like she did with others.
He acknowledged her presence with a nod but, other than that, he continued on to his room as though she wasn’t in the middle of furiously beckoning him to stand at the counter and chat about his night.
“How was your night?” Xiao should have known better, nothing could stop this woman from putting her nose where it wasn’t needed. “Oh my, oh my! That’s a very cute hat!”
Xiao halted in his steps as the little blob in his head gave a satisfied squeak, as if to answer the flattering comment it was given. He grabbed onto its squashy body and gave it a good shake, waking it up from its blissful nap. “It is not a hat,” he said, more to the little one than to Jin’hui.
“Then, it’s a little bird and your hair is its nest.”
The little one broke free from his hold and squealed uncomfortably loud.
“No,” Xiao repeated, firmly grabbing onto the blob with both hands. He would not be walking around with a blob on his head, the fierce image that commanded respect as Conqueror of Demons would be no more. “My hair shall not be your nest.”
The rascal hiccupped in protest.
❀❁❀⋆❀❁❀⋆❀❁❀⋆❀❁❀
As hesitant as Xiao was to welcome the little rascal into his life—for all meetings must come to an end, and such was the inevitable fate of all those who chose to tread the path of life beside a yaksha—the transition between no-blob-life to blob-on-board-life was flawless and effortless. The little one behaved as though it belonged in his life, as though it was meant to be in his life.
“It’s time to get going.”
Xiao was ready to start his day even before the sun rays had time to touch the tops of the mountains, while his days ended once the moon was gone. Few were the people who could keep with such a tight schedule, however, his little rascal was energetic from sunrise to sunrise.
The little one squealed and twirled, safely nestling itself on Xiao’s head.
“My head is not your nest.”
“Squeak!”
“It matters not if you like it.”
Although Xiao couldn’t see its reaction, he could feel as the little one rolled uncontrollably on his head, pulling at his hair to hide itself, whining with tiny squeaks as it did so. If Xiao were to name this particular behavior, he would be calling it “pouting”.
The blob was pouting and his heart felt heavy at the thought of having been the one to cause such a reaction.
“You may continue,” he said, a stern tone roughing his voice. “However, tomorrow this shall be no more.”
Both knew those were just empty words, as they would be having this same discussion tomorrow, and tomorrow’s tomorrow, and every day after that. Xiao was incapable of standing his ground with the little one, and the little one was content to use this weakness at every turn.
“Squeal!”
“No, you are not cute.”
❀❁❀⋆❀❁❀⋆❀❁❀⋆❀❁❀
“Mmm,” mumbled Baoyan as he hurriedly placed the almond tofu on the table and disappeared into the kitchen once again. His fearful appearance had little to do with Xiao himself, and more to do with the poor name his mother had given him. True to his name, he was a person of thin words.
Xiao spared the poor soul the polite words he had come to give on certain occasions, for he sympathized with the inability to keep up with idle chat. He had discovered how to best show his appreciation for the service he was given, and that was by polishing off what he was served, although, today he wasn’t in the mood for eating.
The little rascal, whose preferred position during meals was on the table, rolled around the plate of almond tofu at an alarming speed. Had the little one possessed the gift of a mouth, Xiao would have been more than happy to give up his meal to it.
“Stop it.”
It squeaked back at him with indignation and far too much temper for a thing that was only head and ears — or horns, Xiao had yet to expose the true identity of the protrusions the little one had.
“I am not hungry.”
Xiao sighed as the little one began to make a loud shrilling sound, a heartfelt cry that broke his own in half. As concerning as it might sound, this was a behavior Xiao had come to expect whenever he refused to eat his meals. For one so small, his little one carried a boundlessly kind heart.
“Sorry,” he whispered, gathering the sobbing blob into his hands. Its light dimmed and brightened with its hiccups, creating quite an amusing lights show for Xiao. “I will try to do better.”
His little one gave a quiet squeal before it flew atop his head, nuzzling itself there and promptly falling asleep as though Xiao had sworn to eat the whole dish. In spite of the fact that he couldn’t recall having made such a promise when he spoke, Xiao picked up his spoon.
“You are too much like her…” he grumbled as he brought the first spoonful to his mouth. Baoyan’s almond tofu bore the same taste of sweet dreams as Yanxiao’s; however, there were times in which Xiao couldn’t bring himself to enjoy this particular taste on his tongue.
Today was such a day, a day in which he was reminded of her, Hu Tao.
It wasn’t so much the dish as it was the memory of her that choked him up with such force he saw his karmic debt as being a lesser demon. The very first and the very last dish he received from Hu Tao was almond tofu, it was a sweet torture to his senses when he had to eat this dish while thinking of someone who was no longer with him. She had chosen to dedicate her human life to him and yet, he had greedily begged her for more time. He had tarnished their last memory together, thrown the life they had lived together into question, committed the one sin he could never recover from.
And now, his little one’s giggles of joy and squeaks of disapproval were constantly reminding him of her. Even the way it manipulated him into doing its every command was the same, and what was he to do when he loathed and loved that resemblance?
“Perhaps, eating will ease my heart.”
❀❁❀⋆❀❁❀⋆❀❁❀⋆❀❁❀
Wangshu Inn provided two different bathhouses for their guests, one for male guests and one for female guests. Located adjacent to each other, both bathhouses boasted a breathtaking view of Jueyun Karst.
“Sir Xiao!” called Jin’hui, waving an enthusiastic hand in his direction. Xiao didn’t bother to wave back, however he did stop to acknowledge her greeting. “The bathhouse is empty at the moment!”
Xiao nodded, turning in the direction of the bathhouse. Millenia of massacre had taught him how to keep from spilling blood on himself, however, one little blob didn’t have the same amount of experience nor care to keep itself clean.
The rascal struggled in his hands, fruitlessly squealing in an attempt to break free. Xiao tightened his hold, refusing to have one little blob continue muddying his hair and garments.
“You are dirty.”
“Squeak?!”
“Do not feign ignorance.”
It came as easy as breathing for the little rascal to manipulate Xiao into doing whatever it wanted—to the point where he was foolishly willing to forgive anything—however, this was one thing Xiao refused to compromise on. No amount of struggling and crying would make him yield.
“Squeal…” resigned to its fate, the little one stilled in his hands. It gave some occasional squeaks and squeals as he readied a wooden bucket with warm water and soap.
Xiao took off his gloves before he carefully lowered the little one into its personal bathtub. Unlike what he expected, the little one floated peacefully on the surface of the water and even underwent some scrubbing with minimal complaint.
“How well-behaved of you,” he said, jokingly knocking his knuckles against the rascal until it rolled over in the water a couple of times. It squeaked in response. “It was a compliment.”
It was once he had successfully solved the issue of his little dirty blob that Xiao noticed how filthy he himself was. His head had officially become a bird’s nest, with twigs and mud sticking out at odd angles. His white shirt was a disconcerting gray color, while his previously purple pants were now a sad black.
“You rascal.”
“Squeal!”
Xiao shook his head at the overly cheerful squeal he received, the rascal felt not one drop of remorse for what it did. It wasn’t rare for him to take baths, after all, cleansing both body and soul was a necessity in keeping his karma under control, however...
“Squeal~!”
At the mere hint of him taking his clothes off, the little rascal would go wild with squeals and twirls of delight, its phosphorescent light brightening to an almost uncomfortable degree. If he didn’t know any better, Xiao would think the little one was actually enjoying the situation — which was exactly what it was doing, and which was the reason why he never brought it to the bathhouse with him.
“You are one indecent little blob,” he commented, more to himself than to anything else; the blob was too lost in its own unrestrained squeals to pay attention to him. Taking this as the opportune time to carry on with his mission, Xiao swiftly rid himself of his clothes.
When the high-pitched squealing quieted down at last, Xiao was already clean of any muddy remnants and peacefully resting—accompanied by a bucket-full of water and blob—in the thermal waters of the outdoor bath.
“Squeak?!” the rascal twirled counterclockwise within the confines of the bucket, fuming and squeaking as it went. It clearly wasn’t pleased with the current situation, not that Xiao cared for its approval at this moment in time.
Xiao sighed, far too amused to sound appropriately tired as he wanted, “Indecent blob.”
“Squeak!”
❀❁❀⋆❀❁❀⋆❀❁❀⋆❀❁❀
Moonless nights were synonymous with increased monster activity, such nights were also synonymous with exhaustion for Xiao. More often than not his duty, although repetitive, would leave him with ample energy to savor a meal and keep watch over Liyue for the remaining time until the sun came out. This didn’t apply to nights like today.
Xiao struggled to keep himself upright as he made his way up the steps to his room. His bone-deep fatigue made a poor companion for the squealing blob on his head, who couldn’t keep itself out of trouble and yet insisted on following him into danger, adding more worries to his already strained mind.
For as much as he denied the notion that adepti slept like humans, his room was decorated with a spacious bed fit for two grown adults — something which he hadn’t initially approved of, but eventually conceded in favor of not discussing the issue again. It was on this very bed where he let his body fall at last.
His bubbly companion squeaked at the rough treatment, unkindly attaching itself to his head and pulling at his hair. Xiao supposed it was only fair considering he had almost squashed the blob when he laid down.
“I hadn’t meant to…” Squash you to death? Xiao wasn’t sure he could make himself utter such insensitive words. He was guilty of forgetting the blob on his head, but he had been so tired, he just couldn’t remember any good reason for why he couldn’t drop dead on the bed.
“Squeak!”
The little rascal gave a series of frustrated squeaks, much like how a mother would scold a child, before it settled against Xiao’s neck and began to purr — yes, like a cat. Disoriented by this sudden gesture, all Xiao could do was lay with his head at an uncomfortable angle and brave through his little one vibrating at maximum strength.
Its quivering, reminiscent of the great shows of power Rex Lapis carried out in the Archon War, had a strange somniferous effect on him. His eyes struggled to remain open, he may be exhausted but Xiao refused to surrender to the great call of nightmares.
“Little one—” he began but held his tongue as an annoyingly familiar and beloved song resounded within the room, awakening emotions he had come to accept as gone.
♪Silly-churl, billy-churl, silly-billy hilichurl
Frilly-churl, willy-churl, frilly-willy hilichurl♪
“Hu... Tao?”
The little rascal squealed, its fiery red glow brightening the room much like the rays of the sun brightened the day. It twirled once, twice before it brushed part of itself on his lips, something like a silly kiss he had come to never expect again in this life.
“Of all things...”
Xiao snorted, happiness and confusion and shock, and many things all at once exploding inside his heart. The emotions of an entire lifetime threatened to spill over, to break free from inside him and taint the world with the colors of his love. Tears came unbidden — tears he had sworn he could no longer cry, as his body had been hollowed out to the point of insensibility, both by the karma he carried and the immeasurable misery and guilt he had felt at the passing of Hu Tao.
“I’m sorry…” he murmured, salty liquid spilling onto the Seelie as he gathered her into his hands and wept. Even though Hu Tao had been the one to teach him the importance of crying, as it cleansed the soul of sadness and gave the person an opportunity to express the suffering and pain they had been through, her death had robbed him of his tears.
She giggled, perhaps amused by his foolish thoughts and beliefs. As always, he couldn’t fault her for finding enjoyment in the situation, he had been foolish enough to condemn himself for something he had no control over: his heart. Even yaksha weren’t exempt from matters of the heart and, as much as they boasted a desire-free life, certain wants from heart were inevitable.
“I love you, still.”
Hu Tao squealed, glowing closer to pink than her usual red. To think she would be embarrassed by such words, Xiao was reassured by this innocent gesture of hers. She had returned to him, in an unexpected form but she had returned, when he had been certain she wouldn’t and he wasn’t foolish enough to turn his back on such a blessing.
“However, you are still not allowed to enter the bath with me.”
“Squeak!”

My little trouble maker
Chapter 2
Xiao was frozen in place, as Hu tao was waving her hand in front of him, after he said nothing to her introduction. Zhongli sighned, faking ba cough to get the two's attention. "Xiao, this is my boss's granddaughter. " He said gesturing to the girl. Great! Now he'd have to nice to her or his dad would have be fired and they were already having a hard time because of Zhongli's spending habits, him losing a job would be a very bad thing to happen. "Nice to.... Meet you... I guess... "Oh god that sounded so awkward..... While Xiao was mentally screaming because of his lack of social skill, Hu tao suddenly bursted into laughter.
"God your horrible at this! " she exclaimed as she laughed loudly. While she was laughing, Xiao was beet red. But Hu tao's joy was short lived when she was suddenly pulled by the ear. "Ouch! Grandpa!" She whined as her laughter stopped. The elder Hu had a frown on his place looking at his granddaughter, he then looked at Xiao and Zhongli's direction. "Aiya! Zhongli, apologies for dragging your son in my granddaughter's antics. She just never met someone her age, let alone a boy. So forgive her for now, since she's going to school for the first time. " The elder Hu apologized still holding on Hu tao's ear.
Zhongli nodded in understanding, giving the elder a gentle smile. Xiao on the other hand was quite pleased with the fact she was getting what she deserves. "Then we'll be off. " The elder says letting go of Hu tao's ear, and left with her trailing behind him. Then Xiao and Zhongli take their leave.

Boycott hoyoverse, please.
I used to be a big genshin impact lore buff, i played, i read, i was on forums, i made fanart, and then i was deeply disrespected by the game itself (this post is about natlan)
I am brazilian and i follow a religion named candomblé. Long story short, its from yoruba people who were sent to brazil as slaves, then went through a big process of spreading out to not just black people, but light-skinned people of lower classes like my family. We believe in the creation by Olorum, the power of Axé, and the Orixás.
Natlan, as of now, has two characters named Iansan and Ororon. These names come from not just the yoruba predecessors of candomblé, but also the religion itself, the Orixá deities Iansã and Olorum.
My religion, my deities. My mother's deities. The statuettes in my house. Their names are recycled cheaply to be used trivially. Never have we of candomblé ever gotten mentioned by AAA games or films that give such attention to detail like Genshin does, and we are disrespected. Our Gods are used like rags for someone's profit to be thrown away, washed out. They do not convey our beauty, our grit, our wonder, they do not convey us but they profit from us.
People love to tell us that it is just a game, but think again: games are not entitled to disrespect us just because of their nature. We are entitled to complain, to scream, because this is cruelty. You brutalize our image, butcher our names, for what?
When I was younger, I used to look at games with religious imagery very curiously. It was always weird to see the faith of the people I know be used for aesthetic reasons or just because it looks cool. The same has now happened to me, but times worse. People will say anything to justify this mockery and throw excuses to keep playing the product of a corporation that won't ever understand what it means to be us.
Boycott, complain, scream, because I will do it too. I regret the time I invested in playing, in reading, in watching, in dedicating myself to something that would never do me justice. It is not expensive to change a character's name, not even talking about the model. I don't plan on re-entering the fandom while it still lies unaware of the gross source material's true colors. Candomblé is not mythology, it's faith. We are alive. We have existed for centuries and will continue to grow, despite the challenges we face.

SAGAU x Secret!Creator!Reader Drabble
not a continuation but an alternate situation to this ask.
--
imagine ur hush hush about being creator but ur still open to being close to/friends with the characters (i mean it’s hard not to especially when they’re ur main or fav character)
so you allow yourself to befriend them
imagine they treat you so casually that you argue and even sometimes physically fight
or imagine they’re rough when playing around and smack you upside the head when you say something silly
but one time they go a little bit too far and accidentally hit your nose
you quickly cover your face hoping to stop the bleeding before they see anything
however, too caught up in their guilt, they pry your hands away to assess the damage just to see a gold liquid dripping down your face
“you’re bleeding.”
“...yeah”
“it’s gold”
“is it?”
they don’t know how to feel. all this time they were playful insulting and hitting the sole creator of teyvat
you need to constantly reassure them that they won’ t be smote (smite?) or struck by lightning for hurting the creator

flowers and unplanned proposals
xiao x gn!reader
if someone gifts an adeptus with flowers, it means you are proposing to them, and if they take it, it means they accept the proposal. unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on who you ask), you weren’t aware of such a custom. or — xiao thinks you’re married, but you just thought flowers would look nice on him.
fluff. comedy-ish. accidental malewife acquisition. featuring reader being clueless, xiao being hopeless, and lumine and hu tao being your biggest supporters
Tumblr media
It started with a walk on the road as an acquaintance accompanied you.
There’d been a wild flower by the side, with white and lilac petals that you’d thought, rather presumptuously, would suit the dour faced adeptus beside you. So, you plucked it and impulsively handed it to him, a smile on your face and a shocked one on his.
His fingers closed around the flower’s stem, the stern lines of his face softening as he gazed at the tiny petals that glittered in the sun.
You’ve never been rid of him since.
Your friend Xiao could be described as protective at best and possessive at worst. It’s not a bad thing, of course! Caring for a friend is always a good thing in your books, but sometimes, you think he takes the word ‘caring’ to an almost extreme degree.
Take, for instance, now.
“Xiao?”
He hums from his spot on the sill of your window, not even sitting, no, he’s crouched on it, balanced on the thin ledge at the tips of his toes and keeping his eyes (which oddly glowed like a cat’s) peeled for any danger. Like this, he almost looks like a bird perched on a branch.
You let out an awkward laugh. “You know, I appreciate you doing this for me, keeping me safe and all, but I think I can spend the night on my own safely.”
His head whips to you so fast you almost feared he’d get neck cramps, an expression of surprise and… hurt? on his face.
“You… don’t want me here?”
You’ve never backtracked so fast in your life. “No! I mean, yes—but not in the way you’re thinking!”
He looks forlorn now, stepping down the windowsill and shoulders hunched in a similar manner to that of a cat pulling its ears down its head. “Is this what the Traveler meant by sleeping on the couch?”
You’re not sure what to do, but it seems like he wants to sleep on the couch? Puzzled, you smile encouragingly even though you don’t quite understand his words. “Er, if you want to sleep on the couch, you’re welcome to do so?”
His face falls.
“And, I don’t know, he just became all—sad? Just, I felt so bad for basically kicking him out of my room, and now that I’m thinking more on it, I should’ve just offered to let him sleep beside me. Like a, um, a sleepover!”
There’s a distinctly bashful look on your face and, oh god, you’re drawing little circles on the table with your finger, an almost dreamy glint in your eyes.
Sweet Jesus that doesn’t exist in this world, Lumine is going to barf.
She slams her hands on the table, startling you in the process as she leans down and says with an exasperated face, “Have you considered that maybe you actually like him and he—”
“What?!” you squawk, mouth open in disbelief and a mortified look contorting your features. “That’s—don’t say such things, Lumi!”
She drops back down her chair, leveling you with a look that basically said, are you for real right now?
“It’s written all over your face—”
You quickly slap both hands on your cheeks, turning your head away. “I don’t like him! How could I ever… he’s an adeptus and I…”
“And you made an adeptus sleep on your couch,” Lumine deadpans.
She can feel the way your face burned at the reminder. You slump over the table, burying your head in your arms and bemoaning your decision. “I didn’t mean to disrespect him…”
“Oh, I’m sure disrespect was the farthest thing you did to him,” she mutters beneath her breath. Broke his heart, shattered his hopes and dreams, devastated him—Lumine can name a few more.
But then, you suddenly straighten up, determination lining your face. There’s a look in your eyes that tells Lumine she should probably stop you from doing whatever idiotic thing—however in good faith it might be—that you’re about to do.
“I should give him some flowers as an apology. He always gets so… not exactly happy but—warm, that’s it. He feels warmer whenever I give him flowers.” You smile, reminiscing on whatever moments you had with him. You stand up, looking down at the empty plates all over the table before looking at her apologetically. “I’m sorry, could you foot the bill this time?”
Lumine sighs. She’s still got money from the last commission Ningguang made her do, so she supposes she can do it. Just this once. “Fine, but you’re paying for our next outing!”
You beam, thanking her before running to the nearest flower shop or wherever it is you’re going to be getting those flowers from.
“Make sure to let him sleep on your bed next time!” Lumine yells to your retreating back, ignoring the strange, almost scandalized, looks from nearby patrons.
You find him at your house, completely ignoring how strange it is that a friend has complete access to your house including a spare key and extra clothes on the closet just for him. It’s simply become the norm, is all. And he’s a good—you don’t quite know what to call him, roommate? you’ll settle for friend—friend, helping you with the chores and often accompanying you to the market when you need new groceries—but only during the early mornings, of course. You know how much he dislikes crowds.
“I’m home!”
The response comes immediate and, judging by the direction, it came from the kitchen, “Welcome home.”
The large bouquet of glaze lilies interspersed with roses and qingxin flowers is heavy on your arms as you walked to the kitchen. Xiao is there, a broom in hand which he sets aside once he sees you and what you’re carrying.
“Here!” You grin, extending the bouquet forward and into his arms.
He accepts it, a flush to his cheeks and looking distinctly flustered by the gift. “I… thank you.”
“It’s an apology.”
His eyes snap to yours, iridescent gold piercing through you. There’s something almost vulnerable in the way he’s gazing at you, hands tightening around the flowers.
You fiddle with your fingers. “Well, I wanted to say sorry for making you sleep on the couch. If you’d like, you can sleep beside me tonight.”
Something in him relaxes, tension bleeding out of his posture as he smiles, small and near unnoticeable to anyone who didn’t know him so well.
For some reason, the sight of it makes your heart leap.
Lumine’s words repeat in your mind.
Have you considered that maybe you actually like him?
No, you think with dread, absolutely not.
“Yes,” Hu Tao crows in delight, “You’re absolutely in love!”
“See, that’s what I tried to say yesterday, but nooo. Oh, Lumi, Xiao is just a friend,” Lumine grouches, imitating your voice and utterly failing because while she may be strong enough to fight monsters and gods, that girl has absolutely no talent when it comes to mimicking.
Your palms cover your face that feels warm to touch. “I do not sound like that. And it’s true, we really are just friends!”
“Of course, because friends do things like living together and sleeping on the same bed and holding hands—” You open your mouth to protest, but Hu Tao doesn’t let you interrupt, “—don’t deny it! I saw you last week near Liuli Pavilion, and he was holding your hand and carrying a bag of food!”
“He’s just really helpful! He’s an adeptus,” you argue, though it sounds weak even to your own ears.
“And do all adepti live with a human, do they sleep with them—”
“You make it sound so lewd, Lumi!”
“—do they hold their hands and go grocery shopping at five in the morning with them?” Lumine pierces you with those honey gold eyes of hers. “Did you know I barely have anything to do in the Adventurer’s Guild here in Liyue besides babysitting and errands because someone—namely, an adeptus who coincidentally goes by the name Xiao—keeps killing all the monsters within the area?”
Hu Tao cackles. “He always asks about you whenever I encounter him at Wuwang Hill.”
You level her with an incredulous look. “What were you even doing there?”
“Hiding bodies, duh!” At your horrified look, she winks. “Just kidding!”
You shake off Hu Tao’s laughter and pinch your lips together. “Look, it’s—we’re just friends. That’s all there is to it.”
Lumine huffs, “Yeah, sure, because friends like you two give each other flowers everyday. How does your house still have space in it for more?”
You would’ve refuted her words, would’ve argued that no, you don’t give each other flowers everyday, just on a regular basis—but Hu Tao’s sudden silence concerned you more than what Lumine said. The funeral director turns her head to you with wide eyes.
“You gave him flowers?” she asks, an odd tone to her voice.
Your brows furrow at her uncharacteristic seriousness. “Um, yes? I do it all the time.”
She leapt forward, grabbing your shoulders and lips twitching into something you could almost call glee. “And he accepted it?”
“Why wouldn’t he?”
Hu Tao lets go of your shoulders to tilt her head back and laugh. Not the nice little giggles she does after a successful prank, no, this is more manic. The kind that wouldn’t make you think, oh how sweet, but instead makes you think, oh this girl belongs in a facility.
Even Lumine seems confused by her reaction, joining you in watching her like she’s just grown two heads. Hu Tao takes one look at both of your expressions and dissolves into another fit of laughter.
“Oh, dear. And you don’t even know what it means!” she says in between laughs.
Lumine, having had enough of being in the dark, grabs Hu Tao’s face with both hands and forces her to look at her in the eye. “What does it mean?”
Hu Tao grins, gaze darting to you. “When you give an adeptus flowers, it means you’re proposing to them.”
You and Lumine gape, understanding dawning on your heads, though there’s horror on your part at what it could mean.
But Hu Tao doesn’t stop there, “And if they take it…”
You await her next words with bated breath, Lumine seemingly on the edge of her seat as well.
“…It means they accept your proposal.”
Lumine’s screech of delight at this newfound information drowns out the metaphorical sound of your world falling apart and being built anew.
You come home in a daze, eyes blankly staring ahead and unaware of your surroundings until you blink, and suddenly, you’re sitting at the dining table, a plate of steaming shrimp balls being placed in front of you.
Xiao crouches by your chair, examining your face with worried eyes. “Are you well?”
Your throat shrivels up. All the words and arguments you’d been planning to say earlier dying on your tongue. So, instead, you nod. He doesn’t outwardly look relieved, but the softness in his touch belies his care as he places a single stemmed qingxin flower on your palm.
It’s still fresh, you notice, dew gathering on the petals and the scent still present.
Xiao sits on the chair opposite yours, looking at anything and anywhere but your eyes. “I plucked it from the highest mountains of Jueyun Karst, blessed by Cloud Retainer and said to ward away unwanted dreams.”
You stare down at it, at the white petals that feel soft against the pads of your fingers, heart beating out of your chest and hands clammy and breaths labored, a pleasant twist to your gut as you realized that he’d gone out of his way to climb a mountain and have it blessed by an adeptus just to give it to you. There’s being friends, handing each other flowers they saw on the road or bought at a shop, and then, there’s this.
Your mouth feels dry, your chest feels full, and there’s something on the tip of your tongue begging to be let out.
“Xiao,” you start, finally gaining the courage to look up and meet his eyes. “What are we?”
His lips part, eyes widening the slightest amount that tells you he’s unsure what brought this question on and how to answer it.
You shake your head. “Never mind. Just tell me this—are we… engaged?”
At this, Xiao seems to relax. “No.”
You barely have the chance to feel a mix of relief and disappointment, though why you’d feel disappointment at having proof that you and Xiao really are just friends—
He smiles, a small one but no less brighter for it. “We are married, aren’t we?”
And oh.
Oh.
It’s not until now, with the confirmation of everything you dreaded (everything you’d hoped and wanted and yearned for desperately) that you realize how much you’ve longed for something more with him—how much you’ve longed for him.
“Xiao,” you say, eyes crinkling at the corners and cheeks aching with the intensity of your smile, “I love you.”
He startles, blinking up at you with wide eyes, red creeping up his cheeks, but before he can say anything you know he’s not quite prepared to say yet, you continue, still a little indignant at discovering you’d been married without a clue.
“But I demand a proper wedding ceremony!”

regular customer - various genshin characters !
in which these various genshin characters are your regulars at your small, quaint cafe. of course, it is very possible they have acquired feelings for their favourite barista ꒰ᐢ. .ᐢ꒱
ft. lyney, kazuha, hu tao, bennett, freminet & xiao 𝜗𝜚࿔
no specified gender <3
Tumblr media
𐔌 lyney !
“c’mon, y/n! one more trick and i’ll be out of your hair.” lyney whispered before showing off his cards in his hands. “i have a queue lyney, can it wait till later?” you inquired, whilst taking the next customers order with a bright smile on your face. lyney pouted at your response, “what if my trick made all these customers disappear?” he asked, an excited glint in his eyes.
“then i’d have to shut the coffee house, lyney!” you exclaimed, as you rushed around the small space, getting drinks of all different flavours ready for the people of fontaine. “hmm, i guess i can wait till it quietens down…” he mumbled, before sipping his coffee and almost staring you down.
“i didn’t know boba or matcha would be such a craze in fontaine… did you?” he asked, noticing a handful of people walking out with your new speciality drinks. “well, i wanted to bring an inazuman touch with me… it was a 50/50 chance of people liking it, i’m just so glad people do! maybe i’ll travel to each nation and bring a speciality back with me.” you explained to the magician.
the cogs in lyney’s brain started rotating, maybe he should bring you back a beverage recipe from snezhnaya. he wondered how happy you would look if he revealed a drink recipe from nowhere, what a trick that’d turn out to be…
“mmm, that sounds like a marvellous idea! where would you go first?” lyney asked before finishing off his drink. “probably liyue… i’ve always wanted to visit!” you responded, whilst handing more drinks to customers.
“how about after i return from snezhnaya, we go to liyue together?”
𐔌 kazuha !
he technically wasn’t a regular. he’d frequent your quaint little cafe everyday for months and then he’d disappear into thin air for longer than he had been there. he’d smooth talk his way out of your questions everytime, “oh you know, i follow where the wind takes me.” he’d reply with a small smile or he’d conjure up a haiku on the spot to woosh your questions away. either way, you’d always end up forgiving and forgetting.
he had been gone for 3 months now and each day you wondered if this was the time he’d never come back to visit the cafe. maybe it was possible he found a coffee house in a distant land he preferred more. your chest felt heavy at the thought, ‘surely not… kazuha always comes back…’
you were knocked back into concentration when a customer appeared in front of you. “i’m so sorry to keep you waiting! what can i get for you?” you asked, hoping that making drinks would easily distract your thoughts from the samurai. “a strawberry matcha please, y/n!” they requested with a smile. i nodded, getting to work brewing the matcha, “so, anything new?” i asked yachi, another one of my frequent customers. “oh… same old, i’ve just been helping my father around the store. and you? have you seen your samurai yet?” she asked, a small smile playing on her lips.
“kazuha’s back?” i asked, spinning around the face her to inquire more. instead of facing yachi alone, i was now faced with kazuha himself. “i apologise for being away for so long, y/n. i hope you’ve been well.”
both hearts hammered away in separate chests, “i’ve been wonderful kazuha, and you? how were your travels?” i inquired, whilst finishing yachi’s drink and allowing her to have the matcha on the house.
“i enjoyed journeying… seeing new lands and meeting new people. however, i never could find another coffee house that gives me a sense of home like yours does.”
𐔌 hu tao !
it’s like she does it on purpose. everyday, you’ll end up spilling multiple drinks when hu tao jumps out of nowhere and scares the life out of you. but it’s ’all good fun’ as she reminds you each time.
“c’mon, y/n! didn’t mean to actually scare ya!” she laughed, almost keeling over from how funny she was finding the situation. you pulled your lip between your teeth as you started wiping up the boba you had spilt all over your worktops.
“yeah, yeah, tao. i’ve heard this all before.” you replied snarkily. “did you want a drink or just to kill me? you’ll have to wait many more years before you can plan my funeral hu tao.”
she hummed, gazing over the menu before coming closer to the counter. “got anymore boba?” she inquired, a playful grin on her face as she watched you clean the spilt boba. “i think you know the answer to that.”
“bummer… i was really feeling boba too! no matter, im perfectly content with your company, hehe~” she giggled, resting her chin on her palm. a blush rose to your cheeks at her bold statement, “i’ll just get you a green tea, hu tao. would that be alright?” you asked, hoping the funeral director couldn’t see how red your cheeks are.
“mmm… that’d be wonderful!” she cheered before jumping behind the counter. you poured her green tea, added a slice of lemon and just before she grabbed it, hu tao came impossibly close; “you know, your cheeks remind me of red lacewing butterflies, hehe! so cute! anyhow, best be off… things to do, people to see, zombie children to seal away… see you later, my butterfly!”
𐔌 bennett !
he always turned up with new plasters cluttering his skin, dirt on his cheeks, the occasional cut or bruise… but always with a beaming smile on his face. you weren’t sure if this was his usual demeanour or if he simply loved your beverages that much. but never the less, you appreciated his custom all the same, even if you were worried every time he burst through the cafe door.
“you’re injured again, bennett.” you observed, as he approached the counter, a blush rose on his freckled cheeks. his hand rose to rub the back of his neck sheepishly, “my commission didn’t quite go to plan…” he explained, whilst his eyes darted around your various chalk boards filled with different drink options.
“you know, there’s always one thing that can cheer me up after a messy commission, y/n!” bennett exclaimed before taking out his pouch of mora. “mmm… could it be your hot chocolate?” you asked, already beginning to prepare bennett’s favourite drink.
“you know me too well, y/n! what would i do without you!” bennett smiled once again before placing some mora on the counter for you. “take a seat bennett, i’ll bring it over for you.” you smiled before resuming and finishing bennett’s drink.
bennett hoped you wouldn’t feel his eyes on you as you made his drink. he almost felt bad making you do the same drink at the same time everyday but he couldn’t help himself. if he didn’t order something, how would he be able to speak to you and see you everyday? somehow, you had become part of his daily routine, no matter if his adventures went pear shaped or not, he knew no matter what, he’d see your smiling face at the end of everyday.
he hoped one day he’d be brave enough to confess his feelings, how you lighten up his day and his mood each time he came in… until then, he was more than happy with your small talk, his perfectly made hot chocolate (with all the trimmings, of course) and being able to just see you.
𐔌 freminet !
it had taken freminet around two months to gain the courage to order from you. you had noticed the blonde boy sitting in the back of the cafe, keeping to himself; occasionally the magician lyney and his assistant lynette would sit at the table with him. however, today he was alone and now fumbling over his words.
“hi, freminet! how have you been? i haven’t seen you recently.” you smiled, your hands placed on your hips. freminet kept his eyes towards the floor as a rosy pink blush spread across his cheeks like wildfire. “ive been… just fine, y/n. busy diving and with my siblings.”
“well i’m glad any time i get to see you.” you reassured the blonde boy but all your words did was make his face go almost crimson, you giggled at how shy he was.
it’s true, freminet had caught your attention the first day he had came in. you still remember it clear as day.
the door creaked open and there stood a blonde haired boy with a diving mask held at his side. when he finally looked up and his eyes widened in disbelief at your appearance, you had completely gone limp from the sight of his pretty eyes. it was as cliche as it sounds but somehow it was perfect to you.
ever since then, freminet had visited whenever he could, even if he didn’t speak to you or order anything. sometimes you would give him a drink on the house, after all he would end up sitting there for hours just reading or gazing into space. there were times where his siblings would order something for him and drop devious little hints in your ear about their brothers feelings.
freminet’s appearance had made coming to work everyday unpredictable and exciting. you had a crush and it made your heart pound everyday in anticipation for his arrival.
𐔌 xiao !
it was most certainly a surprise when a certain adeptus visited your coffee house. he was uninterested in your beverages and instead demanded a cuisine you didn’t even offer. however, you bent over backwards trying to please him and cooked him his desired dish anyways.
xiao appreciated your effort even if he decided to leave it unsaid. he decided next time he visited the coffee house, he’d order from your normal menu and definitely not force you to do something special for him.
however, next time he popped by your coffee house and begrudgingly ordered a black coffee (the only one he knew of), he was surprised to find you had given him a portion of almond tofu as well.
it surprised him, why would you go out of your way to cook him a meal when one, he didn’t even pay for it, two, last time you made it he hardly seemed grateful and three, you hardly knew him.
maybe you were trying to gain his custom in the most degrading way possible or maybe you were just that nice. either way xiao was grateful that you entered his life, even if he hadn’t made the most positive impression.
“here’s your tofu, xiao! i adapted the recipe but i do hope you still like it. oh! and i made you a new drink, let me know if it’s okay… if you don’t like it, i’ll make you your usual.” you smiled reassuringly, before placing down the bowl, a spoon and his beverage.
xiao smiled thankfully before digging into his food. it was a slightly different taste from the usual almond tofu recipe, xiao was sure he’d hate it if someone else made it, however, he loved it because it was made by you.
despite having so many questions and conversation topics, you decided to leave him be. xiao had always liked his own company more than others and it was best not to force him into being sociable, it never ended in the way you wanted.
however, what you didn’t realise was during the time you served customers, xiao had already disappeared off into the night and had left a bunch of qingxin flowers in the middle of the table, tied together with a neat lilac bow.

How you met Characters: Diluc, Kaeya, Venti, Albedo, Xiao, Childe, Heizou, Scaramouche/Wanderer, Lisa, Ningguang, Hu Tao, Yanfei, Shenhe, Raiden, Yae, Kazuha, Tighnari + Collei & Lyney + Lynette
Tumblr media
- Two (very) different options
1. You met him as the darknight hero-who saved you from an attack
2. At the bar while you had a glass of wine and he seemed to like you
- If he did meet you as the darknigiht hero, he'd hope you'd come around to his bar sometime
- And from there you start talking about anything, really
Tumblr media
- Kaeya is another person you'd meet at a bar
- He wouldn't be drunk-just lightly drinking
- You both hit it off and start chatting away
- In the end he covers your tab for the night and however much you drank previously because he liked you that much
- And he might see you home if you live nearby
Tumblr media
- You would meet him in Angels Share, annoying Diluc for more wine
- He'd strike up the conversation with you, and Diluc would warn him for disturbing others at his shop
- In the end he'd add an extra hundred mora to his tab (which Diluc still wants him to pay)
Tumblr media
Albedo would find you in the depths of Dragonspine, shivering from the cold. He only passed by because he was looking for ingredients for certain alchemy crafts-for Sucrose of course. Being the gentlemen he is, he would carry you to his campsite where you could heat up by the fireplace while he made you food to eat and have a chat over.
It wouldn't be until you're fully healed/warmer until you left his campsite, although Albedo told you to come back anytime to ensure you don't freeze to death again. While you stay in dragonspine, you'll see him a few more times as you stay there again.
Tumblr media
If you were a human, Xiao met you out on the battlefield. You didn't even call his name-it was simply his duty to fight these creatures and you happened to be facing one at the moment. All he did was kill the monster and then leave you alone, he only started talking to you after you kept getting in danger to which he told you to call him incase you ever encounter anything.
If you were a god or a friend of Zhongli than he'd meet you at an important dinner. Zhongli would introduce you both to each other and than you'd talk from there.
Tumblr media
Tartaglia was your boss from the Fatui. You worked under him, the 12th harbinger in combat. He doesn't pay too much attention to the rookies or people under him-you stood out by being the strongest one who works under him. Only then would he challenge you himself (to which you most likely end up defeated).
Tumblr media
Two very different routes based on what time you met him as...
As Kunikuzushi he would meet you along with the other swordsmen, crafting the best swords out of everyone. Kunikuzushi would be a little more shy towards you, he doesn't know what love feels like afterall-his mother did abandon him.
As Scaramouche, similar to Tartaglia, you could train under him. Catching his eye as one of the strongest combat fighters who work under him.
