A bit of a guide, since I have so many stories
Dragon Universe stories: The Will of the Whispering (TWOTW), The Hostile Credence (THC), The Dragons' Cosmos (TDC), Planetary Boundaries (PB), Cashmere, and Brackish TWOTW: Lester, Mildred, and a lot of kids THC: Seth, Niven, Ewan, Dunn, Flick, Tessa, etc. Lots of characters here, but they're more likely to be mentioned alongside the ones I've just named. TDC: Roscoe, Noah, Sylvester and their families. Bircha and Afensi are dragons in this story. PB: Huge cast, but there's Bianca, Brooklyn, Dorian, Florian, Trace, Lucinda, Andy, etc. Cashmere: Toryn, Hadeon, Riley (this is a retired story, however, and I reused Toryn and Hadeon in Geckos - they are Duncan's father and stepfather) Brackish: Basil (Christian), Cassidy, Wendy, Imogen, and Alison are the main characters outside of family members. (Imogen has a twin brother and Alison is her little sister, and ofc Basil and Cassidy's families are brought up frequently). Oh, and Sidony, the most important character. (A DRAGON) Pleasure Seekers series is my asexual incubus story and has four books planned. Characters include Xavier, Zachary, Clarissa, Eloise, Daphne, Bernardo, Fenton, Bethany... I can't keep up with this one, honestly, there are also a lot of characters here. ;) Name the Frogs: Irving's dad, Nestor, is a villain. Serrated Petals: Roland is a villainfucker, and that villain is Otto, and he has a side piece named Luther. Roland's little half-brother, Stanley, is dragged into this bullshit. Seasons: Vivian, Graham, and a ton of seasonal children. Easy to spot by all the mentions of weather and seasonal affinities! Stargazers' Hill universe: Stargazers' Hill (SGH), Before our Ghosts (BoG), and Rascal. I'm going to sum this up with "I have a lot of feelings about Ambrose and Thaddeus and Ferdinand/Hazel is my OTP, and Opal is my wife... okay, she's not, but she should be." Untitled story about automatons, featuring childhood enemies, Warren and Henry Maureen Maribel is the name of the story and the name of the character that the story focuses on. This is the child actress story. The Elephants Always Come Back: Mirza, Boris, Fredrick, Hana, Gustav, Moswen, etc. Love them. I name my Halloween spiders after these characters. Initials for story are TEACB, I call it TEACUP bc it's cuter. Geckos, Automata: Julian, Mortimer, Kieran, Rosalia, and Duncan. AND GECKOS AND AUTOMATA. This one is for sale, please buy it? Little Horrors: Hervey and Algernon, but they're not the only characters. Littlespace story with a side of horror/spooky vibes! Where the Lanterns Glow: Nolwen and Evander story. The witch story. Originally called Double Double Witch Boy in Trouble because it was supposed to just be sexy. Skin from the River: Three river dads have to go find their dangerous river son who used the bones and such from his waters to form a human body. This one is horror. I have a bunch of others and no time, but most are short stories or still in development. Stay tuned, I have over 1000 characters at this point <3

For the Wings of Fire version of the Dark AU, dragon hybrids are mutants. Some can hide as one tribe, while others who are more obviously hybrids can't. Odd powers show up amongst hybrids, especially when there's moons or magic involved. I'm making it so dragons age a bit slower than canon, so instead of being like a three year old at one year of age, it would be mentally two but being a one year old. So, being one=2 year old by human standard. A dragon year is about two human years long, and the twelve months are... hectic, to say the least...
The adults are all hybrids, and so are the kids. Here's a list of who is what kind of hybrid:
Charles Xavier: NightWing/SeaWing, appears more as a NightWing, but with some webbing and longer tail; is a gray-green color, with scattered silver star scales and silvery glow scales; uses a wheelchair for his back talons; is named Charitable
Storm: IceWing/SandWing, appears more as an IceWing, and has darker scales, but lighter spines; has frostbreath, radiates warmth or cold, and wears a small circlet/tiara; is named Snowstorm
Wolverine: HiveWing/NightWing, half-brother to Sabretoorh, appears as a NightWing with four insect-like wings, has hidden wrist stingers he uses to intimate enemies; is mostly blue-black, with silver star scales and smatterings of warm orange and yellow across his tail and under his wings; is named Warrior
Beast: MudWing/SilkWing, is an obvious hybrid, has large talons and frame, four large wings, and blue, brown, and gray scales; can spin silk, is immune to burns, and loves science; is a doctor and teacher; is named Beige
Magneto: SkyWing/IceWing hybrid, appears as a dark blood red SkyWing, but has sharp blue-gray eyes and frostbreath; has silvery spines, longer, sharper spines, and has blue blood, almost purple; wears a metal helmet/circlet; is named Magma
Mystique: RainWing/SandWing hybrid, appears usually as a RainWing in disguise, but her base form is a bright blue RainWing with a tail barb and long scarlet sail, with dapples of gold and indigo on her scales; she's cunning, conniving, and cynical; is named Mystic
Sabretooth: HiveWing/IceWing hybrid, appears as a pale yellow IceWing with four long, thin insectoid wings, has serrated claws and claw stingers; has frostbreath as well; is large, grouchy, and battle-ready; is named Sable
The teens (the ones who are alive, and possibly adults, or at least older):
Scott: SkyWing/SeaWing hybrid, has bright red scales, appears as a SkyWing, but has glow scales that can glow a bright, blinding red; has fire; is kinda long and tall and thin; name Cyclone
Jean: SkyWing/NightWing hybrid, has darker green scales, appears as a NightWing, has hidden orange and green star scales; can read minds and has large wings; is nice; is named Jewel-scales
Rogue: NightWing/IceWing hybrid, is a a pale gray-green, appears mostly as an IceWing; can read minds if touching someone, and can breathe frostbreath and fire; is cold to the touch; is named Reindeer
Evan: IceWing/SandWing hybrid, is a pale tan and yellow, appears as an IceWing; has sharp spines all over his neck and back, has spines on his tail; can breathe fire; radiates warmth; is named Eider
Lance: SandWing/MudWing hybrid, is a warm umber color, has darker spines and part of a sail on his tail; doesn't have a barb; can breathe fire; has rock-hard scales; is a bit reedy for an average MudWing; is named Loon
Todd: SeaWing/MudWing; is a semi-obvious hybrid, being mistaken for either a yellow-green shrimpy MudWing, or a green-yellow shrimpy SeaWing; can hold his breath for an hour and breathe underwater; has a few glow scales; is named Toad
Fred: NightWing/MudWing; is a large, dark dusky brownish-black, appears as a MudWing; has string talons, has strong wings, is immune to burns or most cuts; is named Bullfrog
Wanda: SkyWing/IceWing hybrid, is a vibrant scarlet red, appears as a SkyWing; has animus magic; is tough and jaded; wears black jewelry a lot; is a twin; is named Scarlet
Colossus: IceWing/LeafWing hybrid, is a shiny pale green with silver dappled scales, appears as an IceWing; is large, strong, has sharp talons; is hard to move or hurt; is sweet; is named Coldfront
Pyro: SkyWing/SilkWing hybrid, is sunset orange and fire red, appears as a SilkWing; has flamesilk, can breathe fire, has four large wings; likes to start fires; eats his food burnt; is named Polyphemus
Gambit: SeaWing/SandWing hybrid, has warm scalea; is a brown-yellow leather color, with some pink and green webbing and scales; is suave and charming; is a trickster; is named Remora
Reader and Friends (the teens who reincarnated):
Pietro: SkyWing/IceWing hybrid, has chilly blue-ice white scales, appears as an IceWing, but has larger than normal wings; is a very fast flier; has cold scales; used to be a twin in his past life; is sarcastic; is named Ptarmigan
Kitty: SilkWing/RainWing hybrid, can change colors and blend in, almost like she is invisible, appears as a SilkWing; has a ruff behind her ears, has longer fangs, and a prehensile tail; is usually a soft pink, likac purple, and hazel brown; is bubbly; is named Koa
Reader: hybrid type unknown... is caring and adventurous; has strange dreams; is named ...?

Sound Off: 10 New Songs You Need to Hear Now It's impossible to be across all the new music out each Friday. Luckily, PAPER is here to help you out: each week, we round up 10 of our favorite new songs from artists — emerging and established — to soundtrack your life. From the surreal to the sublime, these songs cover every corner of the music world. The only criteria: they all have to absolutely rip.Caroline Polachek — "I Believe" Of all the euphoric, ecstatic moments on Caroline Polachek's second solo album, "I Believe" might be the most resonant — it's a heady appeal for reunion imbued with all the ecstatic feeling of 2000s radio pop. Lana Del Rey — "A&W" Is there any pop star currently working who does it better than her? "A&W" is catchy and it's cursed, totally haunting lyrically but a pure nail-biter when you listen to it, whether on the first or fiftieth listen. 100 gecs — "Hollywood Baby" 100 gecs have been playing this song in their boisterous, ridiculously fun live sets for a minute now, and its recorded version doesn't disappoint, combusting in a cascade of crunchy pop-punk sparks. Related | Skrillex Interviews 100 gecs About the Future of MusicDon Toliver with Kali Uchis — "4 Me" This brilliantly gooey-eyed love song has a surprising, chiptune-y palate, which only serves to make its head-over-heels lyricism seem more profoundly real. Omar Apollo — "3 Boys" Omar Apollo's latest is a lovely doo-wop inflected ballad, the kind of warm and meandering love song that feels drawn from totally private moments. beabadoobee — "Glue Song" This gorgeous ballad features horns and strings, recalling peak-era Belle and Sebastian and Jens Lekman, with a little Gen Z earnestness thrown in for good measure.Skrillex with Missy Elliott and Mr. Oizo — "RATATA" This highlight of Skrillex's long-awaited second album features a sample of the immortal Missy Elliott, who sounds surprisingly great pitched-up and twisted around a house beat.Princess Nokia — "closure" Brooklyn indie rapper Princess Nokia goes full Y2K revival on this sweet, amped-up ode to writing songs as a way of healing after a breakup. James Ivy — "Involved" The latest James Ivy single is serrated and lush at the same time, like a shoegaze-inflected take on electro-pop. It's a single to play over the end credits.Bryce Xavier — "Blue Valentines" This heartfelt piano ballad is a Valentine's Day ode to queer love and equality. Xavier says it was inspired by a need for visibility when it comes to mainstream holidays — and he certainly succeeds.Photo by Aidan Zamiri https://www.papermag.com/sound-off-caroline-polachek-2659433643.html

Leaning against the nearest wall, Toby caught his breath; each inhale was a serrated blade twisting in his ribs. Meanwhile, Xavier cracked the door open just enough to spy on the corridor outside. Toby watched as his former lover's shoulders tensed, an imperceptible change to any other eye but not to his. He knew Xavier's body as well as his own—every twitch and sigh a word in their secret language.
Outside, muted shuffling feet scuffed against the linoleum floors—nurses making their rounds. The murmur of conversations and distant beeping equipment grated on his nerves.
He drew a long breath and prepared himself. The air tasted sterile, tinged with antiseptic and the latent tang of blood—some of it likely his own. His body pleaded for rest, but it was time to move.
The first step was a test—a dance with discomfort as he shifted his weight onto legs that felt like they'd been through a grinder; the second brought a sharp twinge from his ribs. Toby's lips parted in silent agony as he tried to move without eliciting concern from Xavier.
On the third step, pain lanced through him like lightning, seeking earth. It pierced his resolve, forcing a gasp that he quickly smothered with gritted teeth. Toby's vision blurred at the edges; a din of discomfort screamed for attention beneath his skin.
Toby managed a tight smile. "Blimey, it feels like I've been trampled by a pack of rampaging hippogriffs, I just need to walk it off."
"Right, let's not dawdle then," he said, trying to inject a bit of levity into his strained voice. "Wouldn't want to be a bother to the lovely staff here."
He could feel Xavier's concerned gaze boring into him, and it took all his effort not to meet those stormy blue eyes. The eyes that even now could see straight through his defenses could read every thought and feeling no matter how deeply he tried to bury them. Instead, Toby kept his focus straight ahead, concentrating on putting one foot in front of the other without crumpling to the floor.
Blue eyes that resembled the sea after a storm scanned the hallway outside the door he had cracked open, noting an exit sign just a few doors down to the right, the end of the hall, and the movement of nurses further up the hall at their station. Xavier paused to watch a nurse in dark scrubs fumble with the many pockets adorned on her as she made her way down the hall towards where Toby was staying. Xavier leaned back from the door a little but continued to watch her, prepared to go out and intercept her if he had to but it seemed whatever she was searching for in her pockets wasn't there and with a sigh she stopped her progression down the hallway and turned around, going back the way she'd come. Xavier exhaled slowly and left the door cracked slightly so he could hear if anyone came, turning his attention back to Toby, glancing over his shoulder, once the rustling of clothes stopped.
The only thing that really concerned Xavier in this whole mix up was whether or not Toby was going to be alright. On the drive over, Xavier's mind had gotten the better of him. Sprouting thoughts and ideas of what could have happened so terribly to put the other in the hospital of all places. It had been a contingency plan in case anything terrible happened and because of that original notion Xavier had panicked, despite the logic that also mingled there with his panic. Part of him felt the fool now but it seemed like everything worked out anyway. He didn't regret coming but the fact he'd let his emotions get the better of him made him a little irritated with himself.
“You don't have to apologize, Toby,” Xavier said with a soft sigh, he was always so tired in recent months. He thought his nightmares had returned but Xavier rarely remembered if he dreamed at all when he woke from sleep. He shifted away from the door and closer to Toby, eyes scanning the other before giving the room another once over as if he couldn't look at Toby for long. He was afraid that if he did, he'd end up getting lost in memories and feelings he didn't want to deal with right now. Not when there was something else that needed his full attention. “-- this is what it was meant for… why I nagged you so much.” His lips quirked upwards at one corner just slightly in a fond grin but the act was interrupted by the sound of footsteps coming down the hall which Xavier heard through the crack.
“I'll…” he paused, glancing at the door then back to Toby again, the footsteps having gone into another room. Xavier truly had to stop and think, process what he was just about to admit without thinking it through. He shook his head, stepping back to the door and checking the hall. “I'll always come when you call.” I’ll always care. The man decided that was as close to what he really wanted to say as he should let himself get, his emotions were too turmoil, too controlling and he always had been impulsive when it came to his feelings, speaking first before thinking it through all at the expense of others. He didn’t want to put Toby in a position of feeling any sort of guilt or the ache that Xavier currently felt squeeze in his chest. He could bear his heart alone, but his loyalty and care? He couldn’t help but show those. Loyal to a fault, Xavier hoped that Toby knew just what lengths Xavier would go just to be by his side, especially when he needed help.
Xavier made a face again, brow furrowed still with concern and unspoken words. He’d only seen small glimpses of what injuries truly adorned Toby’s body and it was enough to make him taste copper on his tongue. He wished he’d been there for this altercation, perhaps he could have helped, could have kept Toby from getting so hurt. Xavier couldn’t help but feel perhaps the other was over his head and that thought made his stomach turn. He knew better than most what it was like to live a life of trials alone. Perhaps it was why his heart had fallen so quickly for Toby, why even now after they’d both agreed it was best to split up, Xavier had come at a moment's notice, why he felt so strongly even now. “There’s a door to the stairs just down the hall to the right, we’d better go before the nurse finishes making her rounds in the other rooms.” Xavier said, tone even and reflecting little of what he wanted to say other than the fact that he did have more on his mind and was keeping it to himself. He moved to the door once more, sliding it quietly open some more and peering out, nodding to indicate it was clear before glancing back at Toby. “C’mon, my car is in the parking lot.”

Strike Ch.1
“Hey, hey, a new game came out the other day. Wanna come over and play it?”
Xavier looked up from measuring the ingredients and glanced over to where Rascal was writing down something in his notebook. His normally loose navy hair was tied back in a messy ponytail.
“Don’t you have work?”
“Nope.” Rascal responded and turned around, his goggles were hanging around his neck as he knocked the end of his pen against his cheek. He smiled, showing off his rows of serrated teeth. “I’m off tonight, so I’m free.”
Xavier smiled and tapped at the goggles around his head, causing the shark mer to roll his eyes and put on his own. “Sure, I’d love to come over. Only after we finish our homework.”
“Ugh, fine.”
Xavier chuckled and returned his attention to their cauldron, he reached for the next ingredient just as Rascal sounded behind him.
“Wait, Xav-”
BOOM!
Ringing.
Loud ringing.
That was all Xavier could hear as he blinked his eyes open to see a cloud of smoke surrounding him on the floor. All around him, he could hear the muffled screams of panic and yelling. Beside him he could see broken pieces of the heavy duty cauldron surrounding him. He blinked, once twice, in an attempt to clear his vision. Above him, a quartet of green will-o-s danced around his head before disappearing. Xavier recognized the Unique Magic of Rascal as he attempted to sit up only to pause as he felt a heavy weight on his chest. Xavier looked down, seeing the prone body of Rascal laying on him. He placed a hand on his back only to freeze in shock and pull it away.
Blood, there was blood covering his hand.
Xavier could feel his voice catch in his throat as he stared at the burnt and bloody back of his best friend.
“Rascal!” Xavier shook him, hoping to get a response. “Rascal!”
Rascal was completely passed out and Xavier felt fear wash over him as he held his best friend close to him. He flinched at the pain suddenly searing up from his left arm and he gently turned it over to see the massive burn mark stretching from his wrist to his elbow.
Exactly what in the great seven had happened?
“..ria. Soria!”
Xavier can’t even recall what happened, one second he was about to add in an ingredient, then next thing he knows, everything goes dark.
“Soria!”
Xavier blinked and jerked his head over to where Crewel had been calling for him.
“Are you hurt?”
“M-My arm is burned, but Rascal...”
Crewel turned his attention to the unconscious shark mer and tried to keep a straight face as he spotted the injury.
“If you can, get him to the infirmary immediately.” He turned to one of the other students nearby. “And someone go and alert the older Gallucci to what happened.”
Xavier wordlessly picked up Rascal carefully while he nursed his wounded arm before leaving the classroom. Outside of the room, students stood around, fear and panic still in their eyes as they focused on Xavier and Rascal as they passed by. Xavier made his way to infirmary and quickly informed the nurses of what had happened. He stood watching as they quickly got to work on Rascal before one of the nurses turned to him.
“Any wounds?”
Xavier painlessly and shakingly extended his left arm. “It got burned.”
The nurse gave a look before directing him towards one of the unused chairs. “Go and sit down and let me clean the wound.”
Xavier sat down and silently watched as two of them started cleaning Rascal’s wound. The nurse that tended to him started carefully pulling back his lab jacket and uniform and started cleaning the wound. He flinched at the stinging pain and tore his eyes away from the work being done on the shark mer. Xavier couldn’t stand to see his best friend in that state.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Goliath finished taking notes as the class wrapped up and he started to put his notebook away. Beside him, Night sketched a few designs for his garden in one of his notebooks. Right as Goliath leaned over to offer some advice, the door burst open. All the third years, including the teacher, looked over to the panting first year in lab gear in the doorway.
“G-Gallucci!”
“Yes?” Goliath spoke up in the silence of the classroom as he felt eyes move towards his direction.
“C-Come quick, it’s your brother. He’s been hurt in a lab acci-”
Goliath immediately shot up out of his seat before the first year could finish and rushed out the door. The first year called out for him as he made it halfway down the hall.
“He’s in the infirmary!”
Exactly what the hell had happened to his brother?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Xavie jolted up as the doors to the infirmary burst open to reveal Goliath standing in the doorway. His red eyes were wide and his irises were shrunk, Xavier felt himself shrink down as his eyes moved towards him. Goliath quietly made his way over to the frightened first year and stood before him.
“What happened?”
“I-I don’t know.”
“What?”
“I-I mean I don’t know! We were in Potionlogy doing an assignment and just as I was about to add something, the cauldron exploded.”
Goliath closed his eyes and took a deep breath, when he opened them again, his eyes had returned to their normal size. “So this was an accident.”
“Maybe? Rascal is one of the best people to be paired with when it comes to Potionlogy. He never makes a mistake.”
Goliath frowned and his eyes narrowed. “Then what-”.
“...pungent...”
Both of them whipped their heads over to where Rascal lay on the infirmary bed. His back was all bandaged up and his lab coat along with his shirt and vest were gone. Rascal slowly raised his head with a clear struggle.
“I smelled something pungent before the explosion.”
Both of them quickly moved to sit beside Rascal’s bed.
“Hey little brother.” Goliath’s voice was soft as he spoke. “How are you feeling?”
“My back feels like it’s burning.” Rascal groaned in pain. “Xav, you weren’t hurt were you?”
“Your Unique Magic cushioned my fall back but my arm got burned.” He raised his bandaged arm. “You... you took the brunt of the damage though.”
Rascal seemed to relax at that, sinking back into the bed with a pain filled sigh.
“Rascal.” The first year looked at his brother. “What did you mean by you smelled something pungent? Were you working with anything like that?”
A slow shake of his head. “We had all the ingredients out. None of them smelled like that.”
A realization dawned on Xavier and judging from the look in Goliath’s eyes, he had realized it too.
Someone had sabotaged them.

However he felt about this spell and Rohan's involvement, a chance to see magic would never be turned down.
"I got one of them," said MJ, still at the door. He felt at his jacket for his folding knife. A half-serrated tanto offered from his inner pocket with a quick flip.
“Thank you, Aquaman.”
Xavier placed the book on Rohan’s coffee table and set the knife down beside it. “Let’s see here…” He ran his finger down the list of instructions. “Abel, would you mind grabbing a handful of soil from outside? From the ground, not a plant plot or the garden.”
“You got it.” The familiar stepped outside.
Rohan set the bowl and the pen beside the book. “I’ll go get the pliers. Is there anything else?”
“Thread. Silk if possible but any natural fiber should work.”
“I should have some somewhere.”
While Rohan looked, Xavier smiled at MJ. “Would you like to help me take apart some very ugly jewelry?”

Day of the Dead
Xavier x Fem Reader
Halloween had always been Xavier’s favorite holiday, and it’s not the same without him this year. After a child in a cemetery shares some words of wisdom with you, you decide to pay your final respects at Camp Redwood.
Warnings: Angst, Grief/Mourning a Loved One, Fluff, Smut, Soft!Ghost Xavier (Let me know if you’d like me to add anything!)
Word Count: 3344
Here is the Xavier “Halloween” Oneshot! I thought it would be good to at least mention the other holiday celebrated this weekend, and who better to do that with than our favorite pastel-wearing ghost! The incorporation of the Day of the Dead into this story is meant with respect and acknowledgement to those who celebrate. ¡Feliz Día de los Muertos!
--------
It had been hard to believe, even with all of the news coverage and the funeral. It was all the people of LA could talk about all summer long. The beach waves hardly drowned out the murmurs of sunbathers and surfers recalling the latest articles or how they’re pretty sure they’d had an aerobics class with Montana Duke as one point. It made you sick. A man was in a coma. One of your acquaintances was in prison. People had died--your friends...your loved one.
You still couldn’t accept that Xavier was gone. When he had told you he was going to Camp Redwood to work as a counselor with his friends, you had kissed him goodbye and told him to have fun. If you had known that the only time you would see him again would be in his casket, you would have said more. You would have told him that he was the only one you wanted to spend your days and nights with. You would have told him that you loved him.
Los Angeles was a place that offered so many possibilities and so many options. The both of you had agreed to keep your options open, even as you found yourselves falling back into one another when things didn’t quite work out with said options. This summer trip with his friends would be a good chance for him to unwind and take a break from the city and maybe meet someone new. He’d invited you, of course, but he knew as well as you did that the summer job wouldn’t cover your rent, and you had a decent job in the city. Again, maybe if you had known how much you would miss seeing those frosted tips walking through your door or the sassy sway of his hips when he came to wrap his arms around you in the kitchen, you would have gone. Maybe you could have saved him if you had been there. Maybe he could have lived instead of you.
Xavier was always stronger than you. He had a smile that could light up the room and make those around him beam in return. Everyone wanted to be him or be with him. He had a confidence and charisma in the way he carried himself and treated those around him that you couldn’t help but admire. Even if his beautiful steel eyes found their way to others, they always managed to come back to you. To be fair, your own eyes often appreciated others, as did your hands and lips. Subconsciously, you always found yourself comparing the taste of another’s kiss or the feeling of their lips on yours to the pillowy soft caresses or passionate captive embraces of Xavier’s.
Halloween made it even harder. Xav had always, always loved Halloween. He’d thoroughly enjoyed the ability to find a costume and dress up and take on a character for a night. As an aspiring actor, it was good practice and something he was passionate about. It hurt you deeply to know that he could no longer take part in the things he loved the most. Without him, these things were just painful reminders of how empty your life felt now.
You didn’t bother dressing up this year. Some of the day you simply spent by his grave, placing tiny pumpkins as decorations or telling him your happiest memories from years prior.
“Do you remember a couple years ago, Xav? When we tried to carve pumpkins and forgot to get those special little serrated knives to make it easier? You tried to use a butter knife, because you were afraid you’d cut yourself with anything else. The knife was so dull it hardly cut through the damn thing and ended up pushing it off the table.” You laughed softly at the memory even as tears trickled down your cheeks. “It exploded all over the floor and we were finding seeds under things in the kitchen for weeks.”
Many Mexican families had come to the LA area in hopes of better prospects, and you watched as many of them trickled into the cemetery throughout the day with arms full of flowers and food and photographs of loved ones in celebration of Día de los Muertos. You watched, enraptured, as a family situated themselves a couple graves over from you and began decorating the tombstone in candles and flowers. Their child caught you staring and smiled. Their tiny hands placed a large loaf of bread in the center of the altar they had created before they joined you.
“You look sad.” You couldn’t help but smile softly at the child’s innocent observation.
“Yes. I miss someone very much. He meant a lot to me.” Your hand reached out to graze the top of Xavier’s tombstone. He’d had no family, or at least no family that you knew of, and his other friends had shared his fate. The child smiled at you brightly and that confused you. They seemed to notice your confusion and they tilted their head.
“You don’t need to be sad. As long as you remember them, their spirit will live on and be happy in the afterlife,” they explained. Large tears brimmed in your eyes and a tightness took hold of your throat. “If we don’t forget our loved ones, they can always come back to us.” You blinked up at them, surprised at the way their words comforted you as you sat in the damp cemetery grass. They darted back over to their family for a moment, and then returned to you with something in their hands. It was a small sugar skull. You placed it carefully at the center of Xavier’s gravemarker and admired the bright blue details of the eyes and yellow swirls around the crown of the skull. Xav would have appreciated the resemblance.
The next day, you decided to visit Camp Redwood and say your final goodbyes. Maybe it would help you get some closure or feel momentarily closer to Xavier if you saw the last place he had been alive. Seeing the wooden sign gave you goosebumps, and you stopped your car before crossing beneath it. Were you ready for this? You swallowed thickly and eased down the gas pedal to drive towards the camp.
Everything looked...so normal. It looked exactly like you would expect a summer camp to look during the fall. There were leaves and needles everywhere, and the smell of damp earth and trees filled the air. A morbid part of you was expecting something awful, something that gave away the terrible events that happened here. You got out of the car once you reached the main area of the campgrounds where you could see the cabins. It was getting hard to breathe.
Several minutes passed before you mustered up the courage to actually open the door and get out. There was a strange silence in the air that even the birds didn’t want to break. It was still and peaceful, and it made the hair at the base of your neck stand up. Upon reaching one of the picnic tables, you pulled a small framed photo of Xavier from your purse. You propped it up and smiled softly at the goofy grin on his face. He’d gone for headshots not long before his trip to the camp, and you remembered him telling you how hard it was for him not to smile. The photographer had liked the picture so much that they had printed it anyway. You loved the look of excitement on his handsomely sculpted face. There was a small tea candle in your purse that you placed with the picture and watched the flame dance on the glass of the frame.
“I’m so sorry, Xavier. I miss you so much.” You crossed your arms on the top of the picnic table and rested your head on them as you wept. “I should have been here with you. Or at least told you what you meant to me.” You sniffled and choked a quiet sob. You’d never said the words out loud, and they lodged painfully in your throat when you tried to express them to the empty air. “I love you, Xavier.” But it was too little too late.
“You...love me?’ a voice asked quietly behind you. Your head instantly shot up from your arms. You were hearing things. Slowly, you turned around, and your mouth dropped open at the man standing there. You were on your feet instantly, nearly tripping over the bench of the table to do so, and you took a step towards him.
“Xavier? But you...you died. I was at your funeral… How..?” The shock had your heart hammering in your chest, and you found it hard to catch your breath. A sad smile crossed the plump lips that you had missed so much, and he shrugged as if what he said was the most casual thing in the world.
“Yeah. I’m dead, babe. I know.” Slow steps brought him to you as if he were approaching an injured animal preparing to bolt into the wilderness. “But did you mean what you said? That you love me?” Your mouth opened and closed without knowing exactly how to respond. What was happening?! His hand came up to stroke your cheek, and a shuddering breath pulled from your lungs at the familiar warmth. It felt so real. You instantly covered his hand with your own as more tears streaked your cheeks. “Please. Say it again.”
“I love you, Xavier.” In that moment, you didn’t care how it had happened or what was happening. This was your Xavier and you had a second chance. You were not going to let it slip away. “I love you so much.” Both of your hands reached up and cupped his face, your thumbs stroking his high cheekbones, and he did the same to you. His eyes were brimming with unshed tears at your words, and his body tensed like a spring prepared to snap.
“I love you, too.” Xavier leaned in and captured your lips desperately in his. You didn’t want to breathe for fear of having to break the kiss. You were afraid that if you opened your eyes there would be only air in front of you again. Thankfully, that wasn’t the case. Xavier was there, perfect tears trailing straight down his cheeks. Your thumb brushed them away as you stared at him in both joy and disbelief. Of course you wanted to ask how it was possible, but questions could come later.
Xavier grabbed your hand and led you quickly to one of the cabins that still contained fully dressed beds. In a few short moments, they were the only things dressed in the room. Xavier pulled your shirt off with frantic movements as if he was afraid you would disappear. Once your skin was exposed, however, he immediately slowed. He dropped feathery kisses over your chest and stomach, paying careful attention to your bare breasts before journeying downward. You clutched at his shirt and tugged it over his head so your hands could trace the smooth planes of his muscled back and upper shoulders. Your head tipped back as he ran his tongue from your navel to the waistband of your pants.
“Please, Xav,” you moaned, one hand sliding into his perfectly sculpted hair. His wide, baby blue eyes gazed up at you with pupils blown wide by desire. You knew your eyes must have looked the same. Your breath hitched when he slowly rolled down the tops of your pants, taking your panties with them, and he placed sweet kisses down the entire length of your leg. Occasionally, he flicked his tongue across the skin before moving further down. He removed your shoes and socks so he could follow with the rest of your clothes, repeating the trail with his lips as he had on the precious leg. “Xavier…”
“I know, baby. Don’t worry--I’m going to take care of you.” Xavier stood up again to press another kiss to your lips. You followed when he attempted to pull back, not entirely ready for it to end. He chuckled against your lips and teased his tongue along your cupid’s bow. You were all too happy to allow him entry, and you groaned when you could finally taste him on your tongue again. He walked you back to one of the beds until you were forced to sit on the end. He kissed his way back up from your ankles to your lips, and you quivered beneath him.
Xavier was already throbbing in his shorts, and he tipped his head back with a groan when you began to palm him. His breath ghosted over your cheek as he looked down at you, seeming to take in every feature of your face.
“You are so beautiful, and I am such a fucking idiot for not making you mine every single day.” He dove in for another kiss that drew a whimper from your throat.
“I’ve always been yours. Always have and always will.” The tender exchange left you both eager to prove yourself to the other, and your fingers hooked into his shorts to help shuck them off. The tip of his cock immediately pressed to your entrance, but Xavier held back to make sure you were ready. A few lazy rolls of his hips coated his length in your wetness and assured him that you needed no further preparation. Neither of you would last long at this rate.
The unified groan reached every corner of the cabin as Xavier sank into you, his head dropping to your chest. You stroked his hair, one hand tracing shapes over his back, and whispered loving words while he panted against your skin. If only you could have stayed like this forever. This was how it was meant to be. He began moving with languid thrusts, savoring the feel of your tight heat clenching around him with each re-entry. Xavier curved his body over your own to seek as much skin-to-skin contact as possible.
“I’ve missed you so much. You feel so fucking good,” he panted and steadily began to increase his pace. Your legs dangled over his hips, and you ran your feet lovingly along his calves while sucking his earlobe between your teeth. He cried out softly, thrusting sharply into you in surprise, and you reciprocated his pleasured shout. The old wooden bed creaked beneath you with each thrust Xavier made deeper into you. The gentle touches of his hands along your sides and the worshipping kisses he left on the arms around his neck made you quiver around him. You were so close. The pace increased when you voiced your impending climax to your lover. His forehead was slick with sweat, and you could tell he was holding back.
“I’m so close, Xav. Come with me, please,” you begged, arching your back off the bed to feel his cock push farther into your warmth. He moaned loudly through his teeth, twitching inside of you from the words you spoke and the physical signs of you clenching around him sporadically. You moaned his name over and over, kissing the sensitive spot on his neck just below the cross earring he always wore. His hips rocked into yours and you angled your hips to meet his thrusts each time. A few more well-timed thrusts into your g-spot had you careening over the edge of a blissful orgasm. The clutching of your core around him as Xavier chased his own end left him shouting out his pleasure in the form of your name, and his warm seed quickly filled you.
“I love you…”
“I love you, too.”
The two of you remained that way for several minutes, too sated to want to move or lose the contact with each other. Eventually, you ended up laying on your sides to face each other. Your fingers danced along his toned arms, and he drew shapes and patterns over your hip as he held you close. Xavier explained everything to you, or as much as he could at least. You still didn’t quite understand it. All you knew was that you had been able to see the man you loved one more time and be in his arms.
“You’ll have to go soon,” he sighed. You frowned and cupped his cheek.
“What do you mean? Why?”
“We aren’t the only ones here--Me, Montana, and the guys. There are others, and I can’t let them hurt you.”
“I don’t care, Xavier. I want to be with you.” He quickly shook his head and held your wrist to remove your hand from his cheek. You could see the pain on his beautiful face in the way he squeezed his eyes shut.
“No. No, I won’t let you die. Not here, and not because of me.”
It seemed that time was passing all quickly, the sun beginning to set through the tall redwoods the camp was named for. Xavier hadn’t stopped touching you the entire time, with one exception, and you were grateful for it. The only time his hands weren’t on you was when he jogged over to the table to grab his picture and handed it back for you “to remember him by”. You stopped beside your car and he cupped your face in his large hands.
“Promise me you won’t come back here.” The whisper made you shiver. You searched his eyes and tried to fight the burning in your sinuses. This truly was your final goodbye. His throat bobbed as he swallowed down his own emotions. You nodded reluctantly, and the relief from Xavier is palpable. His hold on you loosened slightly until he brought you in for one more kiss. It lasted longer than the others, your hands slipping into his hair and his thumbs removing the tears from your cheeks once more, and you take in everything he is in that moment. The warmth of his hands on you, around you, the pressure and gentle massaging motions of his lips on yours, the scent of his cologne and hair gel. Everything you would never have again and never be able to forget.
You were driving down the road before you knew it, and you stopped just outside Camp Redwood grounds. Xavier was standing just inside the sign when you leaned out the window to look back. It took everything you had to simply blow him a kiss and continue down the road towards the highway. Your only consolation was that the last words the two of you spoke to each other were the three words you had always wished you could say.
Static came over the radio between one of the valleys, and you slammed your palm against the piece of junk. Between the mix of untuned stations and noise, you barely made out a few words:
“A child born of human and spirit will usher in the end of times.”
You groaned at the usual AM station interference and decided to turn it off until you got closer to the city. There was no room in your mind for music right now anyway. All thoughts were of Xavier and hours you had spent together. Had what the children in the cemetery said been true? Was it your remembrance of Xavier part of the reason he remained here? He seemed trapped, and that was not what you wanted, but you knew you would never be able to forget him.
At the end of July 1985, you gave birth to a beautiful blond child. He has his father’s gemstone eyes that sparkled with wonder and mischief. The angelic curls atop his head were what you knew Xavier’s looked like when eased up on the blow-dryer and products. Now there would always be a part of your lost love with you. You named the child Michael, and you loved him more than life itself.
You could not have been happier. The Day of the Dead had left you with a new reason for living.

Some additional details in case you might want to know more about each one: Dragon universe is the story with dragons building planets, it is lore-heavy and spans several books that range from horror to scifi to fantasy. They include The Hostile Credence, Planetary Boundaries, The Dragons' Cosmos, etc. Pleasure Seekers series is about Xavier, an asexual Incubus who doesn't follow the "Incubi and Succubi usually do sex work for a living" plan, because he is sex-repulsed. He lives with his human boyfriend, although he does later end up in a polycule. Also, his boyfriend spanks him for domestic discipline, and it's not sexual for Xavier, but he is a bit of a spoiled brat. ;) Seasons is about immortal characters and abuse, and if you're familiar with the story, you might want to hear more about it. But the whole thing is already posted on AO3 Rascal is on AO3, as are some chapters of Stargazers' Hill (SGH), but if anyone wants more of that... here's your chance to ask! Name the Frogs is a new story about a traumatized man who is trying to carve out a life despite his father being an infamous villain whose reputation kind of ruins Irving's poor life. The monster extracting demons story is self-explanatory, but I did make a recent post yesterday about it if you feel like hunting it down. Where the Lanterns Glow is a kinky romance between Nolwen, a witch with PTSD, and Evander, a farmer's kid who wants to learn magic from Nolwen. The Elephants Always Come Back is a horror story where my main character, Mirza, is determined to find out what happened to his mother and brother. It overlaps with Boris's exorcism work. (Horror.) Geckos, Automata starts with a homeless man on the run, a sorceror searching for that homeless man and for signs that his likely-deceased husband is still alive after all, and a little girl automaton who seems to have her own thoughts. Serrated Petals is just really fucked up kinky stuff with plot. Roland is obsessed with an immortal villain, his brother wants to help him, and Luther is one of the villain's prisoners. Skin from the River is about a river that takes human form using the bones of humans he has killed in his waters, and his three father rivers have to chase him down and get him to take water form again.

07.02.77 Bagno Femminile - Hogwarts

Made in Solingen, Germany in 1880.
100+ functions, including a 5-shot .22 pistol
This knife could be described as the Mother of all Swiss Army knives. If you count the miniatures inside the tortoise shell handle covers, it has 100 “blades.” They include pocket knife blades of every style imaginable, a serrated blade, two dagger blades, several different types of shears and scissors, an auger, a corkscrew, two saws, a lancet, button hook, cigar cutter, tuning fork, pens and mechanical pencils, mirror, straight razor, and a functional.22-caliber five-shot pinfire revolver. The one modern convenience it doesn’t seem to have is a bottle opener, but the bottle cap as we know it wasn’t invented until 1892.

gideon walks into the banquet hall and his eyes land on one person who he’s not the most keen on seeing. the last time he spoke with xavier, the man was berating him for wanting to walk away and take some time. to think about the situation at hand. for a moment, his fist clenches and he grinds his teeth, but he pushes it aside. he can’t harbor ill will toward him for voicing his opinion. he doesn’t pick anything up from the table but instead goes and walks over to where xavier is sitting. “mind if i sit and we chat?” gideon asks, calmly looking at the other with a half-cocked, serrated smile.
