World Otter Day

Every year, on the last Wednesday of May, the world comes together to celebrate a unique and playful creature – the otter. So...As I said before, this is the big project three of my friends and I were busy with! DIR EN GREY MONOPOLY 2024.

Basically, it’s a game that took us about 6 months to complete and recorded the whole year of Diru. Actually none of us had done such a thing before or foreseen the process to be so exhausting. But yeah, we made it and gave it to every member in Osaka!!

【MAP】

 As shown, the map starts from 正月(January) and club citta, which is the venue of My Bloody Vampire, the very first show of Diru in 2024. Followed by Europe tour, Psychonnect, Androgynos and Who Is This Hell For, each space is named after the exact venue.

【RULES】

Concerned over language barriers, we tried to keep everything clear and simple, especially the rules.

Like normal monopoly, getting your money from the bank, collecting your token, rolling the dice, buying/selling properties(venues) and taking actions based on the space you end up on. That’s it!

There are four kinds of spaces:

property space

When you are on a property space, you can choose to buy it and charge the rent.

chance space 1 for Cards type1<特別事件 special events>

chance space 2 for Cards type 2<普通事件 normal cards>

chance space 3 for Cards type 3<魔法世界magic world >

When you land on a chance space, you need to draw a card and follow the instructions. You may even get powerful tools there!

【特別事件 special events】

This kinda took me most of the time(I did almost all the drawings and design except for a few cards and the tokens ), so I will begin with it.

Like what I indicated before, you can draw a special event card when you land on a corresponding space. Each player/member can find their own special cards originated from their experiences in 2024.

*actually each one of them has 10 cards respectively, but technically it’s impossible to explain all of them, so I’m sorry to leave out some.

【Kyo’s part】

I finished kyo’s part first! From left to right, it indicates:

-kyo mentioned it’s rly nice to have Arukuma at the venue and he wants to see Kyoto’s mascot too, so I kinda joked about it

-the very famous HELL HELL HELL HELL HELL LOL

-kyo said it in a sukekiyo’s live around July, dont call me kyo or any name, say sukekiyo様(lord sukekiyo) instead and if you wanna happiness, buy a pot from me!(it was refering to a piece of cult news I guess)

-the sticker of his early age was sold out and Kyo hated it!!

-kyo mentioned he had Unadon three days in a row back in Nagoya, although it was him who wanted to eat Unadon the first

-he forgot his suitcase which was full of his personal clothing and shocked to see Poland was snowing when he woke up in Europe

-Kyo’s birthday live

-his instore, and he did a lot of cute doodles

【shinya’s part】

-all the members took photos of shinya’s legs and he was kinda embrassed about it lol

-he really likes sea otter!

-he was kinda robbed by a deer in Nara

-In order to film his youtube video, Shinya arrived at the venue 2 hours earlier but Toshiya surprisingly arrived earlier too!! Unsurprisingly Toshiya laughed at him, took a pircture, posted it on instagram and our poor Fujieda manager was being told off by shinya imao

-shinya passed漢字能力検定(a difficult language test of Japanese kanji)and received a certificate

-shinya posted a pic of sea otter as a reponse to kyo’s tweet saying his legs look great lol

-shinya collected all the mangazines of their vkei time and filmed a video

-his birthday event

-shinya was kinda obsessed with a Tiktok drama(he accidentally spotted the ad on instagram) and poured money into it.

【Die’s part】

-he gave a MC there. It was rly touching

-he drank a lot of beer in Europe and treated Kaoru too(according to Thetheday)

-his favorite baseball team 巨人（Yomiuri Giants） won the national champion of 2024 after beating Kaoru’s favorite team 阪神（Hanshin Tigers）

-it’s also a joke related to Kyo’s card(the one of mascots) and Arukuma

-his photobook was published!! Congrats!

-he streamed a cooking competition with Fujieda in the summer(the room was rly hot without AC) -Toshiya celebrated his birthday in Berlin!(so I drew a little national flag on his plate and used some sausage to decorate haha)

-he and Kaoru had a stream for Androgynos. They looked fine on the screen but they both admitted the chairs were so hard that their asses were hurt lol

【Kaoru’s part】

-Kaoru streamed with other TTT members to celebrate Boo’s birthday and drank a lot

-He misspelled his own name on TFOE(he also made a mistake on his birthday poster 長野虎之穴 and he corrected it by posting 野～～～！ On X)

-he had a holiday in Naha after Psychonnect (according to TTD)

-his birthday event(he designed several stamps to collect at the venue and I used the same layout when drawing it)

【魔法世界magic world】

Here comes my favorite kind! It was so enjoyable to draw them. I guess it only took me around 2 days.

Bc it’s called magic world, it’s all about their babies(Idk how others call these cute little creatures, I just love to them their babies lol) and their pets. This kind is basically all about them, while the only exception is the one on the right corner of the 1st row. The card is called Time machine, so I imitated kaoru’s self-portraits on his picks, indicating that this card can transfer current him to his younger time.

It’s a terrible pun i know lol

【summary】

Yeah that’s all!! Although it’s rly difficult to give a detailed introduction, we just finished it!! It rly took me so much time and energy, actually I was still working on it right before I flew to Sapporo mid November. I hope the members like the gift. And most importantly, I hope every diru fan enjoyed their 2024 and continuously enjoy Diru in the next coming years.

KH OC WEEK 2024

Day 2: Past

Shiro

Though Shiro themselves no longer remembers much about their past, they had quite an adventurous childhood. Shiro’s life has been rough and tumble from the very beginning as a young keybearer and they’re no stranger to finding themselves on an adventure.

The most important memories for Shiro are, of course, those spent with their friends in Twilight Town. Ephemer and Skuld were definitely considered Shiro’s best friends during that time, and the trio would spend countless hours running around trying to chase down the mysteries of the fortellers.

Shiro was also very close with their party members (the little weirdos from KHUX( /lovingly)) and would go on many adventures with them to grow stronger, and mostly to just have fun.

Chirithy and their dream eater companion where also very important people(creatures?)in Shiro’s life.

Shiro met the of the other dandelion leaders later on but didn’t have too much time with them due to the world kinda ending.

Usually during the time of fairytales, when someone discovers they were a keyblade weilder, they’d find themselves wondering into Twilight town one way or another. Shiro, however, was actually born there and doesn’t ever recall having a family or living outside of the town.

But yeah, otherwise, their childhood/pre-teen years were spent following the plot of KHUX, with the exception that they got to spend more time with Ephemer and Skype before being forced to part ways.

As children, Aiko and Viktor had a dream of building a spaceship to explore the stars with. They however, quickly realised that building a spaceship is a lot harder than storybooks made it out to be, so they instead settled on just looking at the stars.

It is still a memory they think fondly of years later. Not necessarily because of the absurdity of two children managing to build a functioning space ship, but because it was something they promised to do together. A promise of staying together.

(They immediately get separated, once they leave their world LMAO)

Viktor and Aiko both grew up pretty secluded from the rest of the world and had very little interactions with others.

Doing pretty much everything together was kind of a given, so having become separated from each other in the future neither of them took it very well.

Codependent idiots (lovingly) but they learn to exist outside of each other once they become older I swear.

I imagine their childhood home being a bit out of town near a beautiful meadow and forest that they’d play in.

(Oh, and they totally build that spaceship in the future once they realise that magic exists. It is extremely awesome, and I’d like to think Ansem’s apprentices will help them out with it once they finally get acquainted somewhere post kh3.)

Similar to Aiko and Viktor Merin and Tähti have been together since quite literally their birth. (Coming into existence together with no idea what you are is quite the bonding experience.)

Their creation happened under quite the confusing circumstances that naturally just had to involve old man Xehanort in it. Having had some unexplained part in their previous person's destruction, Xehanorts took the two under his wing for a short while. However, once he discovers the cause of the extraction failing (having both light and darkness extracted from the heart at the same time), he is quick to leave the two to fend for themselves as he continued on to advance his own goals.

(His goals were to create Vanitas. He just needed to know if extracting darkness from people was possible.) also, I say “unexplained part” in their creation, bc there’s no way that cryptic mummy gave them any sort of clear explanation for anything.

Vanitas was at least born with some sort of purpose and understanding of what he is, while these two were left to figure it out on their own.

You know those videos of otters holding hands while they float on top of water? Yeah, that’s what I think of when I think of Merin and Tähti.

They were pretty much in the same emotional state of ‘head empty’ as Roxas was when he first awakened.

They’ve come a long way from then tho

Also, I think for the two of them, having no idea who their previous person was is kinda like just having a whole piece of their being and self be missing. Just waking up someday to be told that you used to be somebody else, or more precisely, a part of somebody else, and now you need to exist outside of that person while also having no idea who that person was or if you’re really even your own person or just a part of somebody else.

Since I’m definitely more of an artist than a writer, I thought I’d add some other older drawings that I thought would fit the prompt. (TW old art /j)

To Keep Hope In A Star Ball

WARNINGS: major character death, repeated character deaths, canon typical violence, it gets worse before it gets better

At the end of the world, Tobirama is transported to the past—not far enough to change the event calculated to impact the future the most. But he can make it work, right enough wrongs to prune away the rotted and poisoned roots, years to fix what he can and hunt down Madara after the First Shinobi World War wraps up. First and foremost is overcoming the Kinkaku Force, and thus, his death.

Except history repeats, a second playing of sacrificial rabbit to lure the hound away from his kits. He dies again by claws of pure chakra—

Yet he awakens again, on the day he came back to the past.

They are intertwined in the flow of time, separate yet clinging as otters in the river, the star ball between their sternums a scorching burn through their armor, their clothes, their flesh. They are dead (they are alive,) they are on a battlefield of Senju and Uchiha (they are standing alone atop a ruined seal and surrounded by the remains of scattered false bodies and a blond boy and black haired boy laying on the ground,) Tobirama sees Hashirama in the Pure Lands (Madara sees Izuna across a battlefield.) The river overflows, strains itself, bucks against its banks, thrashes current against current.

It thins, widens—

It stops.

Tobirama collapses to his knees on the bank of a thin brook. Across it, Madara stays standing but hunches over like he was hit in the solar plexus and needs to get air back in his lungs desperately. In front of them is a man they've only heard of in myth and legend: the Sage of Six Paths.

He hovers there tall and proud, his arm outstretched with Kurama's star ball floating above the palm of his open hand, the swirling corrosive red chakra dancing with orange wind and purple flame in a miniature galaxy.

It is time this ends, my son.

Tobirama wakes up gasping, clutching his pillow desperately to his chest. He pants, can't think through the blazing pain, feeling every nerve in his ribcage scream their terror, aware of his heart throbbing against lung, muscle, bone. It is reviving piece by piece, brain roaring up the synapses, lungs inflating after a long stillness, heart thump thump thumping blood back to chilled veins and arteries; it is dying in equal measure, the synapses misfiring, the lungs stuttering in what once was their natural rhythm, heart stopping in irregular intervals of long (too long, too long) pauses before it beats hummingbird quick again. He can't take much more of this hellish limbo, straddling the line of life and death.

Then, something snaps into place.

Everything is calm.

He shudders through an imaginary aftershock and slowly loosens his hold around his pillow. He palms his sternum and though his hand instinctively flinches at pressing on a tender spot, the associated pain does not flare up. Aside from his tremors, he seems in perfect health.

He gets out of bed and crosses the room to the bathroom. If he harbored any delusional denials about what he remembers, the mirror reveals the truth tattooed upon his upper chest.

An encircled star cradled in nine waving tails, no bigger than the length of his sternum and as wide as it.

Tobirama presses on the star with the tip of his finger and focuses his sensory perception on it. Within the lines is the echo of the Kyuubi's will, corrosive chakra faint and tempered by an purple flame of hope gentling the spikes and neutralizing the corrosion. All that was left of a boy he saw and thought would succumb to the Curse of Hatred yet proved him wrong. He digs his nail in hard enough to cut yet the darkened flesh doesn't part.

A deep breath in, fingers in such a grip around the sink counter the knuckles are white, then a slow breath out, fingers unlatching one by one.

From what he saw of his bedroom and the bathroom now, he wasn't shot far enough back to prevent the event calculated to be the best turning point to erase the Fourth Shinobi War from existence. But it's not quite the worst case scenario with a hit list longer than even an international bingo book, if his memory about his room and personal effects layout is correct.

 He splashes on his face and dries off with a hand towel, feeling less frantic if not better for it. Walking back into the bedroom has him at the wall calendar and the coded shorthand marking the tiny squares.

The First Shinobi World War is in full swing as his calendar is packed with reminders about meetings, inspections, and a trip to Kumogakure the next day. That gives him pause, a nagging sense of importance, a warning, about the trip, but it's been too long since he lived this the first time around and he can't quite remember. In the pursuit of securing Kumogakure as an ally in the war, he made many such trips and can only recall the second one where he and the Nidaime Raikage were ambushed by the Gold and Silver Brothers. It's well past that trip, going by the date of the calendar, so what other trips would be important?

He analyzes the calendar once more than shakes his head and turns away to get dressed for the day, certain it will come to him later as he mentally notes to pack extra supplies as a precaution.

But it does not as he pushes it further and further into the back of his mind, focusing on village preparations in the Hokage office, strategies in the war room, and redrafting his proposal for the Konoha Police Force. Meeting the younger Hiruzen and the rest of his former students takes all of his attention, and the nagging thought is forgotten entirely; seeing Danzō, knowing what he will do in the future, alone takes all of his restraint not to grill the boy about any hidden prejudices and misconstrued concepts of people then and there. But there will be time for it later, for him to fix what he can in-between hunting trips for a certain dead to the world Uchiha. Hiruzen the Elder gave him a rundown on the major conflicts and turning points in the three world wars that started and ended them so he could delay or, more hopefully, prevent them.

The next day he sets off with the Escort Unit to Kumogakure and back, reaching halfway home before a subtle chakra signature in front of the Unit has him pulling everyone to a stop, realizing too late why he had that warning.

The Kinkaku Force Ambush.

The day he died to a man with Kyuubi strength and the Treasured Tools of the Sage of Six Paths.

“What’s wrong, Sensei?” Hiruzen whispers, breaking cover to creep closer to his position, the others following behind him.

The semi-circle they make as they crouch in front of him floods a startling rush of deja vu in his mind, the last time he saw them in his first life superimposing over them in the present. Tobirama takes a breath, slow and measured, and releases the instinctive fear kicked up by the realization in the exhale. He must keep a clearer mind than he did in his first life; perhaps that is why he fell to Kinkaku's blade before, the sudden ambush having him on the back foot trying to defend himself and his comrades, succeeding only with a personal sacrifice.

“I sense hostiles ahead of us. It may be an ambush so we must tread lightly.” 

“Can we avoid them, Hokage-sama?” Danzō asks.

To his comrades’ surprise, Tobirama shakes his head. “Their position is spread wide like a net in the front and I suspect there are more behind us to box us in if we try to return to Kumogakure for help. Right now, we are in a trap with no immediate way out.”

They take the news grimly, each of them calculating various scenarios and actions possible for them to escape. Homura has an increasingly frantic glint in his eyes as he thinks, Koharu narrows her eyes in rising anger, and Torifu rests a hand over the pouch with the Akimichi Three Colored Pills inside. Hiruzen, Danzō, and Kagami are more turned toward each other, muttering plans under breaths, and Danzō uses a kunai to mark their and the enemy's positions in the dirt to illustrate their ideas. The other three scoot closer to them after they notice this, and slip in their own ideas and thoughts, working together for the solution to their predicament.

Tobirama watches them for a moment, pride warming his heart, then aids the discussion with his memory of the first ambush.

But in the end, Kinkaku activates his Kyuubi chakra cloak and decimates their plan to ribbons. Tobirama manages to haul Kagami away from his attack, locking sword with claws when he tries another swing, and orders his students to run off without him. Hiruzen protests, but Homura and Danzō bodily drag him into a run with them as Koharu and Torifu cover Kagami's retreat from Tobirama's side.

Only two enemy shinobi follow after them once they leave the battlefield. The rest either fall by Tobirama’s sword or become collateral damage from Kinkaku's attacks. Kinkaku himself falls to his blade, impaled through the heart, but he dies with a vicious grin on his face, watching Tobirama try and fail to stem the outpouring of blood from his torn throat.

His vision fades, consciousness slipping away—

He jerks awake in his bed, gasping with a trembling hand on his throat.

He's… alive again?

….

Madara flinches awake, grasping his throat. The painful sensation of what he could only describe as a laceration on it is fading already, becoming a distant memory.

Monthly Update - November 2024

It’s been a great month with a bittersweet touch at the end. I’ve had to say goodbye to a friend for now due to work-related matters. I sincerely hope everything goes well for them in their new project, and that, in the future, our paths cross again. :D And also, I'm dying of heat... There's haze and it's around 27°C right now. Will winter ever arrive to the islands? Lol

As for Remnants, Chapter 3 was published at the beginning of November, and I’m now fully immersed in Chapter 4. The first few scenes are already written, and honestly, I’m really liking how it’s turning out! I’m still surprised by how easily writing has been flowing for me lately, even with last-minute changes! There’s just one scene I’m not entirely sure about, and I’ll probably leave it out. Maybe I’ll write it and keep it on standby just in case. I’m not sure. Worst case, it could become an extra scene for Patreon, :D I don’t know if this will be a long chapter, but it’s definitely shaping up to be a chonky one when it comes to coding! Let’s hope I don’t get lost in it, lol.

On another note, I’ve been writing down a few notes to revise in Chapter 3. Mainly Enid’s appearance. I realized I forgot to change her look like I did for the rest of the group, to match the merpeople’s world. Normally, I avoid going back to edit or rewrite things until the book is fully drafted, mainly because I know myself, and I’d end up procrastinating instead of making progress. But I’m making an exception in this case to tweak this detail in Chapter 3. Just letting you know so you’re not surprised when you read Chapter 4 and see that Enid is no longer an otter but a mini leviathan instead, xD.
