Training and Development: Outlook, Innovation and Strategies
The term training and development in a broad perspective collectively may be used to depict education and activities within an organization. In this process, providing necessary and useful information and instructions, regarding the performance of specific tasks related to the company, thereby enhancing the knowledge and skills of employees.
The main difference between the two terms training and development is quite distinct, training is that initiative taken by the management of the company with an intention to meet the current need of relevant knowledge that an employee needs, in order to carry out the designated job duties in a much better way. On the other hand, development is that change or initiative that is taken by the employee or any similar individual with the objective to improvise and upgrade themself to meet the needs of the organization. While training happens to be a short-term learning process specifically meant for carrying out specific activities pertaining to the job and its necessities, development is believed to be a continuous process where the employee changes and upgrades himself in a positive way.

Here are a few things I've learned over the years looking for jobs:
LinkedIn can help you find more serious job offers given many companies post jobs there. You can search for your ideal place of employment this way and find related companies in that field if there aren't any opportunities available. Many companies also ask for your LinkedIn profile, so having a nice profile can improve your chances of getting hired
Indeed and Glassdoor are mostly aggregate compilations of 3rd party recruiter submissions. There are many other sites that even cater to remote work. Do your research and check all links with VirusTotal if you feel the need to be cautious with an unknown site. If still unsure, research " [website] safe reddit"
Research ex/current employee stories of the company/position. This'll give you a good idea of whether you feel this position will be a good fit for you
If in doubt, always go to the company's Career/Job section on their website because the offer found on a 3rd party site may not be listed or accurate
Send out 2-3 applications per day with a catered resume and cover letter for each, only including information related to the job posting (mirror their qualifications but don't lie). You can use Google Suite to find a template to use for free. Just make sure you cater each resume/cover letter for each job that requires it
My method is 1 application for an ideal/possibly under qualified job (i.e. dream job/really good job vibes) and 1-2 realistic jobs (i.e. retail, food service, entry level stuff, etc). This is mostly if you're in dire need of work and need something to tie you over until something better comes through
Don't be afraid to apply to jobs you're under qualified for! Some companies may overlook certain requirements if you have unconventional experience that relates to the position. Just be ready to answer questions about this experience and be sure to relate it to the position in question. Experience is often an acceptable replacement for lack of a degree
Have a clear idea of where you see yourself in the next 5-10 years. If the field you're applying to doesn't align with your goals, either be sure to factor that into your search or research what positions yield mobility towards your end goal. If you're building your own business, don't shy away from doing something you don't want to do. Remember why you're doing it and that the job won't be permanent. It'll provide you with solid life skills that you can apply to your business or future endeavors
I could always go on, but that's really all I got for now. Feel free to drop any advice you've learned to help those entering the workforce :)

Trying to find work after college has been one of the most humiliating experiences of my life. Not in the sense of being embarrassed to work. Not in the sense of work is beneath me. I want to work. I really enjoy editing. I want the satisfaction and the productivity and being able to do something useful. Paycheck would be nice too. But job hunting is, by design, exposing yourself and being vulnerable and proving your worth to complete strangers who Do Not Care About You. It is, straight up, a humiliating experience and I feel like people talk about how frustrating and defeating it can feel, but I've never heard anyone mention the humiliation. Here I am, looking for entry level work in my field. I do in fact have previous work experience that I feel like should be more than enough to prove myself, but for "entry level" jobs they ask for qualifications better suited to.... you know... NONentry level work. So I scrape together my degree and my experience with freelancing and literary journals and tutoring college students and working as an instructional assistant, and put it all on paper and hand it off. I take my time answering all their additional questions, which ask for the same things I just put on my resume. I take their little proof-of-knowledge tests, I write my short essay responses, I write cover letter after cover letter that describes the ways I can be an asset to them and how this job will help me to learn new skills and develop professionally and that's why it's the current My Dream Job(tm). And everything I put forth I do so with the earnestness of a third grader bringing home his straight-As & Bs report card for mom and dad to sign off on. Or like I'm presenting a piece of child art that I can see is messy and Not Right and at least hoping for acknowledgement. I'm a whole-ass adult with actual years of experience, I'm not aiming high at all, and this process still makes me feel so juvenile. Here's my work! How'd I do? Can I have a sticker for my efforts? I literally have that same feeling - like I'm a child who can only do so much with what has been available to me, but I'm doing my absolute best, and I'm even doing well for someone in my position.
And we get ghosted. I put hours and hours of labor into job hunting and applications, and most of them cannot even be bothered to send me a message confirming they got my resume. It is literally humiliating. I once had someone message me on LinkedIn (a mass message, I realized later) inviting me to apply to a freelancer's agency. Great! I made an account, filled out the paperwork, I ticked all the boxes, until the last one, which asked me to list out at least seven (7) bestsellers that I had worked on, with links to their listings. It would not let me proceed or submit my application for consideration without these. That's when it finally clicks - this agency is exclusively for years-of-experience editors, ones that are sick of working for the Big Five, that want to quit their jobs and go private. I am still in the entry-level zone. I don't have that yet. So I deleted my account. That was over a year ago and to this day they still send me emails about seminars and classes as if I were a client rather than an employee applicant.
I don't understand how they keep a workforce going without hiring people. Without hiring new people passionate about the work and offering training. If they only want to hire people with experience, you first need.... people who've worked entry level to gain experience. How does this make any sense???

Anybody who walks out of the theater and says, “Barbie  is anti-men” lacks media analysis skills. So let’s do a what I thought no one would have to do for this film—an unnecessarily deep dive. But it seemingly needs to get done for this crowd.
Shall we?
(And spoilers)
In Barbieland, men are seen as nothing but accessories to all of the exceptional women. Even the least exceptional woman—Stereotypical Barbie—is more exceptional than the average Ken.
(The exceptional Kens like Sugar Daddy Ken and Earring Magic Ken as well as Allan are othered within the hierarchy of Barbieland, a clear allegory for non-conforming/queer men. Even Weird Barbie is othered by the Barbies for her non-conformity but at least has a house)
Contrast Barbieland with the (still surreal) Real World, where the gender roles are often reversed.
In the lead up to the 2016 US Presidential election, for example, there were still people saying that they couldn’t vote for a woman.
That was it. Not her policies. A woman.
The film goes out of its way to prove that Ken—despite being cis/White/straight and male—cannot get EVERYTHING he wants without qualifications and experience. But he DOES get a basic level of respect that he never got in Barbieland from Barbies and the power structure they benefit from.
At one point, the film has a line where a man says, “I’m a man without power. Am I a woman?”
In the film’s Real World (and ours), women often struggle to get power. And so do men! But women face social barriers that men simply do not.
Meanwhile, despite being “everything”, in the Real World, Barbie’s a sexual object to men and almost immediately assaulted; and vilified by girls/women for setting unrealistic body standards. And is torn to shreds by Sasha, the girl she thought she had to help.
Ken takes patriarchy back to Barbieland and the Barbies—unable to conceive of a world like the film’s version of the Real World—basically short-circuit. The Kens, meanwhile, having always been second-class citizens, relish in the new idea and hierarchy.
But, as the film establishes, Kens don’t have an education or qualifications. They can’t even build a wall right because they weren’t conceptualized to be useful/given the tools to be.
Ken’s job was literally Beach.
They’d have actually destroyed Barbieland.
Similarly, nobody is saying you should just appoint women in our world into positions of power, just to appoint them. But we ARE saying that there are qualified women who deserve to be in places that they aren’t because they’re not men.
And that’s wrong.
By the end of the film, Barbie realizes that she actually owes Ken an apology. Yes, Ken tried to overthrow the Barbies. But Ken was reacting to Barbie’s rejection in a toxic—yeah, I said it—way.
And reacting to their society too, even if he doesn’t really know it.
The Kens had a point. The Barbies HAD mistreated them. Barbie didn’t even know where Kens lived in Barbieland, after all.
And to not acknowledge their point is to also not acknowledge the real world point that women are often mistreated in our world just for being women.
I’ve seen some people brandishing stats about how women USED to be marginalized. But now they aren’t. And can do anything. And earn just as much as men.
And yet, Forbes reports that only 10% of Fortune 500 companies have female CEO’s.
Anyway, so the film ends with Barbie telling Ken that he needs to define himself independently of being with Barbie. Which is analogous to how women in the workforce and getting educated/qualified in our world, allows them to be financially independent of men.
In Barbieland, Barbies have always been autonomous and allowed to be independent of men. And have flourished. And President Barbie promises to allow Kens to take part in the running of their shared society. Because everybody deserves to be seen and heard.
There are valid criticisms to be made about this film ranging from how its feminism lacks intersectionality; to how Mattel’s own workers in developing nations are often underpaid and overworked; to consumerism being the main tool of empowerment that Barbie (the toy) endorses.
But it’s one film and I understand that it can’t address EVERYTHING. It chose to stick with gender broadly.
And I think it successfully lands that point.

Uni of Queensland is planning to close their masters of museum studies.
On 10 May 2024, The University of Queensland wrote to students, industry representatives and alumni advising that it is proposing to phase out the Master of Museum Studies and Graduate Certificate in Museum Studies from 2025. This is exactly 20 years after the course was established.
If this proposal succeeds there will be no tertiary qualifications offered in this specialised field in Queensland.
Queensland is home to a vibrant network of around 400 public museums and galleries, who operate with around 1,600 paid staff and over 15,000 volunteers.  Museums and galleries are also integral parts of Australia’s arts and cultural ecosystem which is a $111.7bn industry that contributes 6.5% of GDP.
The University of Queensland’s Master of Museum Studies and Graduate Certificate in Museum Studies programs are incredibly important in training the next generation of gallery, museum, archives and library (GLAM) professionals and filling skills shortages in our sector. Should the University’s proposal succeed, it will have a profound impact on Queensland’s arts and cultural heritage ecology, and future workforce.

Be Part Of Our Nation’s Growth - Enable an NGO Working For Skill Development
A nation’s evolution depends significantly on developing its youth and women. A country requires proper training and skill development mechanisms so that its people can leverage their potential and positively impact the nation’s economy. India has a pool of bright youth and women compared to other countries where the working population is diminishing day by day. The median age of India’s population is twenty-eight years, which denotes that we have much to gain as a younger workforce implies accelerated economic growth and development in various spheres.
However, India faces many challenges when it comes to skill development and needs to catch up. Women’s participation in our country’s workforce has been below adequate levels for many decades. We can not reap the benefits of our demographic dividend in its entirety if we do not strive to bridge this gap at the earliest.
Let us delve into why skill development is so crucial, what challenges the Indian population faces in their skill development, and how an NGO working for skill development can make a massive difference in this endeavor.
The Significance of Skill Development for a Nation
Skill development refers to the process of enhancing existing skills or acquiring new ones. Skill development enables people to become more employable and gain a competitive edge in the job market.
Through various training and certification programs, youth can develop their skills as required by the job arena. One can opt for apprenticeships, on-the-job training, formal schooling, or vocational training to gain skills.
Makes you more competitive and improves income - Employers need employees who are up-to-date with the latest skills, and one needs to change with changes in market trends. So, people need to upgrade their skills to stay ahead of the competition. If you have modernized skills, you have better chances of landing a job with high pay.
Bridges the gap between education qualification and job requirements - In most cases, there is a considerable gap between the knowledge that educational institutes impart and what an industry needs. Skill development aims to bridge this gap and make youth better equipped to handle jobs.
Makes a person independent - As one goes on gaining skills and upgrading themselves, they get opportunities to become entrepreneurs and launch their own firms, which in turn boosts the economy. Entrepreneurship and self-employment are rising trends, and skill development is crucial in letting people have the ability to achieve these dreams.
Facilitates occupation changes - People can change their professions numerous times during their lives in today’s competitive job market by improving their skills. Once you learn new abilities and information through skill development programs, you can change your job paths as and when needed.
Facilitates social mobility - Youth from any background can move up the social ladder with the help of skill development as it gives them equal opportunities to compete in the job arena.
Helps a developing nation compete with developed countries - The current era is for the skilled, and a country can only hope to compete with other developed nations with a skilled workforce. Sadly, our education system has not yet evolved and keeps churning out unemployable graduates.
The Current Scenario in India’s Skill Development
As per a report, a developing economy like India needs approximately 103 million skilled workers.
Contrary to this requirement, more than thirty percent of youth and women (around a hundred million) between fifteen and twenty-nine years of age are not employed or in any education or training programs (NEET).
Amongst the unemployed hundred million, more than eighty percent are young women. Though there has been a rise in the number of women receiving vocational training over the years, it is still much less than men (less than half.)
A report in 2015 on the National Policy on Skill Development and Entrepreneurship revealed that only 4.7 percent of the entire workforce of India received formal skill training, while that in the USA was fifty-two percent and in South Korea was ninety-six percent.
NSDC (National Skill Development Corporation) did a study on the skill gap, which showed that India needs an additional 10.97 crore skilled manpower in twenty-four key industry sectors by 2022. Also, around 29.82 crore workforce in farm and nonfarm areas must be reskilled or up-skilled.
Challenges Around Skill Development
The challenges that India faces in making women participate in the labor force are multifaceted. Though the government takes measures to ensure higher rates of enrolment in primary, secondary, and higher education for women and curb dropout rates, there is a vast number of women who hold degrees but are not employed.
Social and cultural hindrances - The number of women holding degrees but being unemployed points to the fact that literacy alone can not ensure employment. Women face many social, cultural, and historical barriers that must be addressed. To worsen the situation, the women who enter the workforce experience gender bias that puts them in a disadvantageous position against men. Women are also expected to perform unpaid domestic work and care, which hinders them from working in the formal workforce.
Responsibility overburden - The government’s skill development initiative “Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna” launched its Phase III in 2020-21 with an aim to provide skill development programs to more than eight lakh Indians. However, this initiative depends heavily on District Skills Development Committees (DSC). The DSCs are chaired by the district collectors who have many other responsibilities, and skill development does not get the priority that it needs.
Massive increase in number of new entrants - As per NSDC, more than seven crore new people between fifteen and fifty-nine years of age are going to enter the labor force by 2023. This sheer number of people who need skill development needs adequate policy efforts in place.
Discontinuity of policy processes - In 2013, NSDA (National Skill Development Agency) was established to handle issues of inter-departmental and inter-ministerial problems. However, NCVT is now part of NSCT (National Council for Vocational Training), which reflects a break in the policy process and also a lack of clarity on the part of policymakers.
Employers’ reluctance - The joblessness issue in India is not just because of a lack of skills but also due to SMEs' and industrialists' reluctance to recruit. Due to banks’ NPAs (Performing Assets), there is less credit availability, resulting in a decline in investment rates. This eventually impacts the creation of new jobs.
NGOs Enhance the Skill Development Progress
NGOs' strength lies in their community-focused approach, where they reach out to the majority of people living in dispersal rural or cut-off zones to provide aid to victims and facilitate social restorations.
NGOs work at lower costs - NGOs are capable of mobilizing and reaching poor and remote communities and empowering poor people to gain control of their lives by working with local institutions and strengthening them. They are also more efficient than government agencies and carry out projects at lower costs for sustainable development. NGO mantra is a social awakening that includes legal literacy.
Mobilization of youth - NGOs use various mobilization tools such as meeting with communities at night, door-to-door contacts, meeting with parents, social media advertising, etc., to reach out to the youth and propagate the activities of SEDI (Skill and Entrepreneurship Development Institutes).
Scan skills - NGOs scan local industries to find out skills they require in different areas and upgrade syllabi to make youth employable after schooling. This method ensures youths find jobs locally in regional businesses.
On-the-job training - By facilitating workplace experiences and on-the-job training, NGOs acquaint the students with the realities of the world, which prepares them for employment.
Build Strength of an NGO Working For Skill Development
Skill development needs significant contributions from both the public and private sectors, along with help from educational institutions. The government alone can not meet the needs of the humongous population of unemployed youth and women in India.
Hence, NGOs like Search NGO have taken it upon themselves to reduce inequality in poor households by equipping them with skills needed for generating employment. Donating to NGOs that support skill development will build employable skills in the youth and women of India and bridge the wide gap that exists currently.

The Unspoken Burden: Why Men Have to Work Harder in This Generation
Tumblr media
Hey, Tumblr community! Let's dive into a thought-provoking topic that often goes unnoticed: the increased challenges faced by men in this generation, particularly among millennials and Gen Z. In a rapidly changing world, men find themselves navigating a complex landscape that demands more from them than ever before. Join me as we shed light on the pressures and obstacles that make their journey tougher.
Evolving Expectations: The Pressure to Excel Men in this generation face the weight of ever-increasing expectations. The traditional roles of provider and breadwinner still persist, but they now coexist with evolving gender norms and a demand for greater equality. Men are often expected to excel not just in their careers, but also in their personal lives, relationships, and emotional well-being. Striving to meet these diverse expectations can lead to a constant juggling act, leaving little room for rest or self-care.
Economic Challenges: Rising Costs and Competitive Job Market Millennials and Gen Z have come of age in an era of economic uncertainty. Rising costs of education, housing, and healthcare have placed a heavier burden on men entering the workforce. The job market has become increasingly competitive, requiring higher qualifications and specialized skills. Men often feel compelled to work longer hours, pursue multiple jobs, or take on side hustles to keep up with financial demands, leaving them little time for leisure or personal growth.
Mental Health Struggles: Breaking the Silence The pressure to maintain a stoic facade and suppress emotions still pervades society, making it harder for men to seek support for their mental health struggles. The stigma surrounding mental health can prevent men from seeking therapy or openly discussing their challenges. The cumulative effects of societal expectations, financial stress, and a lack of emotional outlets can contribute to higher rates of anxiety, depression, and burnout among men in this generation.
Changing Dynamics of Masculinity: Navigating New Norms The concept of masculinity has evolved, and men are grappling with redefining their roles and identities in this changing landscape. The expectations placed on men to embody strength, resilience, and success can sometimes be conflicting and overwhelming. Men face the challenge of embracing vulnerability, engaging in emotional labor, and actively participating in dismantling harmful gender stereotypes. This process requires unlearning ingrained behaviors and adopting healthier patterns of communication and self-expression.
Balancing Work-Life Integration: Finding Equilibrium Achieving a healthy work-life balance has become increasingly challenging. Men in this generation strive to prioritize their careers while also being present and engaged in their personal lives. The pressures to excel professionally and provide for their families can create a constant tug-of-war between work commitments and personal well-being. Achieving a harmonious integration of work and life has become a demanding task that requires intentional effort and boundary-setting.
It's essential to recognize the unique challenges faced by men in this generation, as their struggles often go unnoticed or unaddressed. By fostering open conversations, challenging societal norms, and advocating for gender equality, we can collectively create a more supportive and inclusive environment for everyone.
To all the men navigating this demanding era, remember that your worth is not solely determined by societal expectations or external achievements. Take the time to prioritize your well-being, seek support when needed, and embrace the journey of self-discovery. You're not alone, and together, we can create a world that values and uplifts all individuals.

after the empress’ reaffirmations of her support and confidence in the crown princess’ qualifications, there were no significant deviations from the briefing circulated shortly after.
“ it is heartbreaking, to think one would do this to his own family, ” crown princess fumiko commented plainly. she seemed tired but composed through the press conference, much like the empress. “ i do not take my responsibilities lightly and endeavour to be a worthy successor to my mother. where i lack experience, i will seek expertise. but what i do not lack is: integrity, principles, values.”
she focused on the future, recommitting to humanitarian efforts and citing her background in healthcare as motive to address forecasted medical and welfare staff shortages. her first quarter agenda includes marking certain imperial endowment funds for medical scholarships for japanese nationals and advocating for increased work-visa quotas for medical professionals yielded over the next decade. beyond q1, the crown heir’s offices will be requesting proposals for implementing workforce development programs to meet the skills gap.

How to choose a right IT staffing agency for your organization?
Tumblr media
Anyone who has accomplished anything noteworthy didn't do it by themselves. And you shouldn't either! Your team is the support for your aspirations. Ensure that they are sturdy enough! Finding, attracting, hiring, and keeping bright workers who will not only perform at a high level but also fit in with your workplace naturally is one of the most important factors in corporate success.
Any hire, whether temporary or permanent, falls under this. Staff is in control of what has been successfully constructed and what has to be accomplished in the future, supported by the organization's values, objectives, and purpose. Because of this, it's critical to recruit, develop, and keep a talented and effective workforce. But sometimes speaking the truth is simpler than acting. Hiring procedures take time and don't always yield the expected outcomes. You wouldn't want to waste your time and money working with a staffing company that couldn't understand and fulfill you’re hiring needs, after all.
So how do you pick a right IT staffing agency for your organization?
Here are some helpful suggestions to take into account when choosing a staffing agency to help you with the decision-making process. But first, let's take a quick look at some of the advantages of working with a hiring firm.
What Benefits Can You Get from Working with Remote Staffing services?
A staggering 77% of millennial clients plan to increase their use of staffing firms over the next five years, according to a survey. So let's examine the rationale behind why businesses depend on staffing firms to streamline and expedite the recruiting process.
Cut down on hiring time
According to the most recent Manpower Group data, 69% of employers worldwide are having trouble finding talent with the ideal mix of soft, technical, and personal skills. This is a 15-year high.
Your company can overcome that difficulty with the aid of a reliable staffing partner. You can have access to a sizable database of pre-screened individuals by working with a reputable staffing agency. As a result, you gain the ability to quickly hire from a talent pool of competent candidates.
Save money
By turning to a staffing agency, you may cut the costs of hiring specialized people to locate, evaluate, and hire candidates. Working with staffing agencies also ensures additional cost savings by eliminating costs associated with recruiting permanent employees, such as health insurance, employer taxes, 401k retirement plans, and others.
Expert Direction
Should you search for contingent, contract-to-hire, or direct-hire talent? What qualifications do you need to look for in a specific position? How many more team members are needed to reach your workforce expansion objectives for the upcoming year?
Do not worry if you are unable to respond to these inquiries. You can develop a tailored hiring plan with the aid of a reliable staffing partner to handle your workforce difficulties.
Find a Remote Staffing service that specializes in your industry:
While some staffing companies specialize in particular areas, others cover the entire spectrum of businesses. if the one you're about to choose has a multispecialty industry concentration and is a general staffing company. In that instance, consider the strength of their staff, your industry, their clientele, and whether they have account managers with competence in your area.
Think about the staffing company's location:
Staffing assistance is required in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, or Chennai even though your head office may be in Bangalore. Do they have a location close to your branches in all of India to facilitate talent acquisition branch-, city-, and state-specific? Verify how many recruiters are on hand at the specified location. Verify their historical employee deployment rate.
Evaluate the staffing firm:
Investigate the staffing company's expertise in the industry, experience in the staffing field, specialties, brand reputation, staffing company policies, social media presences, client testimonials, and client list (occasionally due to competitors, the entire client list is not made publicly available; contact the agency & get the list or schedule a call by sending inquiry), and website.
In general, a company that has been around for more than 15 years and has worked with reputable clients or your competitors is likely to provide high-quality service. A fast conversation regarding "Service so far, reliability, professionalism, efficiency, closure timeframes, quality of talent & other pertinent questions" should be had if you can connect with any current clients of the staffing agency.
Examine the hiring and selection procedure:
Check the number of people who are currently employed across various industries as a result of the staffing support that the recruitment agency has offered to other brands. Plan a meeting or phone contact to learn about and discuss their hiring practices. You might not find the suitable talent for your needs if the agency is still involved in placing advertising in the neighborhood newspaper or publishing job listings on job sites.
The recruitment agency is likely to give you effective outcomes in a cost-effective way & also in a shorter amount of time if it appropriately utilizes different talent search platforms, outdoor talent outreach techniques, social channels, and digital marketing.
Discover the retention rates by asking:
Consider finding the ideal candidate and releasing the offer letter as having completed 20% of the work. 35% of the DOJ is when the employee accepts and shows up for work. The retention of the same staff over the long term, or until the project or contract job is completed, makes up the remaining 45% and is crucial. Check the employee retention rates for your sector as well as the overall rate for all employees. One of the crucial factors in determining the caliber of the talent offered by the staffing agency is this.
Companies nowadays are aware that the more competent workers they acquire, the greater the return on their investment will be. You may get the talent your business needs for success by working with a staffing partner that is suited for you and who has your best interests in mind.
